tonight and tomorrow curious how it turns out no Razer backs are going to be involved in terms of guys drafted from the Hogs but Cal will still be front center a lot of Kentucky guys being drafted particularly Reed Shepard and Rob Dillingham the two that will be at the top of this list and hopefully next year C’s wearing that r back red suit he’s in the NBA draft room as guys are getting called off the board not just after successful individual Seasons but hopefully after a season coming on because that’s what you really care about right as nice as it is to see guys make it to the next stage you care about your basketball program now maybe you’re a fan of the Boston Celtics or the Los Angeles Lakers or in Chuck’s case the New York Knicks but you care about your team the Arkansas Razer back that always needs to be front and center and hopefully it is under John calip Perry I want to start this morning not with the beef but one of my favorite things about Sports Talk Radio which is you the listeners and the callers um I have been immersed in this industry since I was a kid grew up in Little Rock listen to the radio station there then moved to fville uh surprisingly enough and I can honestly say this I don’t know how I never listened to Chuck on radio I never heard the best best radio host that ever grace the airwaves of this state and I’m not just saying that because I work with them I’m saying that because every everyone that I’ve had feedback from that has listening to multiple radio shows that said that now I thought he was great on his podcast I think he’s great on the one he’s doing now and when he doings the airwaves but uh that was the Pinnacle of Sports Talk Radio in the state with sports WP and on Sports WAP Clay and other uh regarded well-regarded media members would join Chuck and in addition to those well-regarded media members and guys and galss that you listen to or have read or have watched for years to come now you also have the collars now some have come and gone unfortunately like hammer and Hank that’s something we’re going to talk about with Clay later on this morning I would encourage you if you can’t join us at 8:00 uh stay tuned fired up from time to time um some of the others that I’ve just enjoyed kind of the the on the older side of things like PA and Tex Arcana jenel Ben um I’ve never had a chance to talk with for City Joe on this program I’ve heard him call in plenty of times to different sports stock radio programs but he is another legendary Sports St radio caller in this state Joe and aoka i’ I love big Mike and Waldren especially when he’s had a few I think he’s fantastic postgame Big Mike and walren is the best he always provides some great entertainment uh you got snake from lck Tim and lck Danny and Russellville uh Robert and Fort Smith has been a caller uh recently Miss Lisa in Northeast Arkansas who could forget Gary in Arad Delphia as well Gary hasn’t called in a while he he’s typically a football caller he’ll text us during the during our programming outside of football but that’s when he really feels like he should call in big see those are just a a handful that I jotted down schedule’s starting to heat up a little bit man yeah it’s it’s pretty uh pretty standard oh it’s again end of June uh a lot of stuff as we get closer we’re 60 it’s I think it’s 64 days out from Razer back football I want to talk about the two of the latest commits uh first we’ll start with the instate kid Antonio Jordan I think 6’4 over 200 lounds anytime you see a water receiver come out of Warren you think good things Richard he doesn’t have a like I don’t think it has a huddle um I was reading up on some things it might have been in your article that he hadn’t really done camps or anything kind of like trillin what’s Arkansas getting in a kid that’s been offered by a couple SEC schools in Florida State you know it it’s not unusual with uh kids from Warren their their recruiting is kind of under under the radar a little bit trailing wasn’t necessarily but uh uh Antonio uh was definitely like you said he didn’t have a highlight video for this past season uh he he hasn’t done any cans he hasn’t visited any any other school other than Arkansas uh and and you you you were talking about his size and and because uh I haven’t really you know asked uh coach Hy that much about him just because you know his his recruiting was just basically just Arkansas I i’ saw I saw him last year at a at a game uh Arkansas Game and and and I said on our board I said this guy is probably one of the biggest receivers I’ve ever seen uh and he is he is legit 66 230 now oh wow yeah yeah yeah and he’s not a tight end this guy is not a tight end he is uh he is a receiver and Arkansas is absolutely elated about him uh now if he had gone to Camp he had a highlight video uh uh you know you know he’s a he’s a three star right now I I I I just can’t imagine any kind of uh any kind of grade really be honest with you because he’s so he you talking about like like I said under the radar he’s about as under the radar as there there is and Arkansas is uh he’s a guy that could come in and play as a freshman I’ll just say I’ll just say that well hopefully he has an impact when he’s here at Arkansas that’s kind of cool it sounds like that he’s pretty honed in on Arkansas based on how you just detailed it uh so that’s the instate kid another out ofate kid I want to discuss is Trent sers defense they’ve got defensive lineman recruits Lately from Texas Georgia and now Alabama I think mobile is where Trent Hils from what can you tell us about sellers in the recent Edition Arkansas’s 2025 class Rd good looking kid about 65 uh about 240 PBS uh Great Frame uh and he he’s he’s pretty slim at 65240 uh and we obviously be able to add 30 40 pounds with no problem problem and and play The Edge uh had had Missouri and and several other offers not a huge offer list but he’s another guy that uh really hasn’t uh done that much recruiting wise his only visit was to Arkansas he had some others that he was considering but uh after visiting he he he was uh pretty much solded on Arkansas so he pulled the trigger but uh a really goodlook kid who uh uh you know like I said I I think his frame is uh easily another 30 40 PBS once he gets to uh to Arkansas talking with Richard Davenport hhog sports with us on the mclary Daniel hotline Richard a couple of basketball commits it sounds like the last 24 hours you got Melo Sanchez and then you’ve also got uh J I’m not even going to try and pronounce his last name uh the kid from Sun Valley in California uh not a lot of details like one’s a I guess a college kid other as a a high school kid what what can you tell us on on the two recent additions for for Cal and I guess there’s what two roster spots left scholarship wise yeah two two two left uh you know when when Brazil was announced uh you know I was told that that that that would be the last of the the high-profile guys and and and and with these two uh Obviously good they’re good additions but they’re not uh not the to the level of the first first nine that was added to the roster uh and with Sanchez he was he’s a uh he’s a guy that uh is about 6’4 about 185 PBS uh I shot round around 35% from from three for Hawaii Pacific University division two uh this past season played there two years he’s from the San Diego area but uh and as you said two two more additions uh could be added and don’t know when that that happened but wouldn’t be surprised if it happens fairly soon but uh uh you know he Co coach cow’s said all along that he wanted eight or nine guys and then he would fill it fill the roster with guys that uh you know other guys that would be good practice uh guys but at the same time who knows I’m sure these guys aren’t coming in and uh to uh to just practice I’m sure they they want to get a little play in time and be interested to see what number of players I think it was 23 22 on NBA rosters from Kentucky and probably four more coming off the board tonight with Shephard Dillingham Reeves and and Edwards uh how do how are you seeing guys particularly in basketball balancing the the shortterm money versus longterm that they can make not just here in fville but just in recruiting in general well I I think you can see that with Brazil uh I mean obviously he wanted to go to the NBA and and I guess is grade wasn’t exactly what he wanted or needed to stay in the draft but uh I I tend to think the money that he was he was making in Arkansas was good enough to to keep him you know in college and with him you know he he could have he could have gone on and and played professionally somewhere but I would think the money uh that he he was receiving in fville was uh somewhat comparable or maybe better than what he would have gotten if he would have went to professional level outside the NBA so uh I I think uh when you’re talking about uh nil some kids uh have a tendency to maybe come back to to the to the uh college game uh a little bit uh more eagerly uh because nil versus uh maybe going off and playing uh internationally or something like that and then and later trying to get into the NBA but uh it’s it’s uh it’s you know obviously nil’s very uh attractive but also when when you’re uh High tier NBA draft pick I mean the money is obviously going to be there and the nil I don’t think can uh I don’t know kind of compare longterm obviously Richard big all Big O Oliver Miller announced to the Southwest Conference 2024 Hall of Fame surprised it’s taken this long Dallas Fort Worth kind of area kid uh what did you think about that addition and dude why’ it take this long this was the 91 confence play the he yeah yeah yeah yeah you’re right kind of kind of crazy I mean anybody that uh was able to see uh the Big O play at Arkansas obviously great uh uh great guy in the in the in the paint uh with his uh with his length defensively and he he could score pretty good too but uh that that is kind of odd that it’s taken this long but uh you know better late than never but I’m sure he’s he’s very honored especially you know gotten up in age you you you sometimes you’re you’re kind of Forgotten and then when you’re recognized like that it’s a big deal and uh and and I I would imagine he’s uh be beside himself really because a lot of times you you just you as you get older you you you feel like that people have forgotten you and obviously this is this is a nice uh nice you is about as brutal as it gets if I was an a&n player I’d never talk to this guy again what you think about the the move from the new Texas longw horns head baseball coach yeah that’s that’s uh he’s the poster child of uh this is how you don’t handle it uh uh that was uh that’s kind of brutal uh I hate to be good good guys you’re coming off one of the best seasons in uh you know in in history of uh Aggie Bas baseball and and I’m sure you you’re feeling pretty good about your future then boom your your coach leaves that’s uh that’s pretty brutal but the way he handled it I think um I tend to think that he he’s probably kicking himself right now for the way he he did that uh but uh you know it’s I don’t know it it it just it’s just another I don’t know negative towards College athletics a little bit uh just the way he did it it’s awful and I don’t blame players or fans feeling angry towards them I now to be honest I’m drinking the Aggie tears this morning but it’s not like that he’s going to a place that I like that much better either in Austin so we’ll see what kind of success he had a lot of success in Fort Worth in three years he went to two College World Series made it all isn’t it 64 days out believe that’s I believe so yes so double check me if I’m wrong on that there’s been a lot of negativity towards this football program and I get it he went 4 and8 last season did not end there seemed to be turmoil in the locker room there were issues at home I mean you got swatted at home in Donald W reyolds race back Stadium by some SEC teams he you lost to BYU which we found out is no joke it was fun going to proo two years ago not so fun playing these guys last season here’s the deal though there are some positive things this desite some people may tell you despite some guys in the afternoon telling you there are some positive the I’m not going to tell you they’re going to win eight or nine games I’m not going to do that because I’d be lying if I actually think that I just want him to get six I think if Sam Pitman is able to get the B eligibility he’ll be next year I don’t really want to go through another coaching change it’s good for our numbers it’s it’s good in in terms of feedback and stuff but that’s not good for the Arkansas football program if they go like three and N or four a day because I would think they’re probably be a change after that I don’t know that to be 100% fact but I I I think that might happen I want Sam Pitman to make a bowl game heck I want them to do more than that I want them to have a lot more success you’re going to be in about three weeks from now when Tommy and myself are down at SEC media days in Dallas Texas you’re going to be picked probably 14th or 15th in the league that’s fine Arkansas football has thrived over the years not when they’ve been picked High not when they’ve actually been expected to do something but when they been picked low and down and you’re downtrodden you’re think oh they’re not going to do anything they don’t have enough Talent on the roster blah blah blah blah blah blah as we’ve learned especially with nil sometimes it’s not always 1,000% about Talent you can have talent and the chemistry can go R it’s why the Old Miss situation this year is so interesting that’s one of the most talented rosters in college football can Lane kein keep everyone intact and on the same page of one goal it’s winning the SEC which Old Miss has never done and winning and competing for a national championship I think it’s the most intriguing question in the SEC right now I know people are talking about Oklahoma and Texas in ear League how will they do that’s fine that’s easy pickings though Old Miss is the most interesting story in this conference this year don’t kid yourself 100% now for you as an Arkansas football fan basketball and baseball you want to know about your team and I get that here’s some positives about the Arkansas football program again I I I just want to flush last season hopefully it’s not guys you can have a bad year the year before and have a a better season don’t don’t let people tell you that oh it’s just Doom and Gloom from here on out I don’t want to be in a situation where all the hard work that Frank Royals Ken Hatfield L Holtz Houston nut even Bobby to a certain degree all the stuff that they put in where they showed you that you can win double digit games here and in Houston and Bobby’s case that you can win those type of games in the SEC maybe not win an SEC Championship that hadn’t happened yet’ be awesome if it did but all that would be for nothing if we’re just going to turn into a basketball school I hope we don’t I hope there’s still an effort based on how much they’re asking for tickets donations parking everything else that this University this athletics department still believes and you should believe that you can compete on the football field I’m not saying you have to win a National Championship my expectations for football are far different than basketball and baseball and I think most of yours are as well listen I just want this season to be one that we’re not trying to forget last season we were trying to forget it it wasn’t quite Chad morrises at back toback two and 10 and I know Chad didn’t finish out his final season but the home games were pretty Chad Morris s don’t kid yourselves those were awful and you’ve got some Marquee home games this year where you should expect to compete not saying you have to win them all not even saying you have to win three out of the four SEC ones but you should at least compete even though it’s High Caliber competition because you competed on the road that was what’s so weird of last year you went on the road and you lost a basically the game was ended with a KJ Jefferson interception you lost by three to Alabama three to LSU and who was the other Road game that I went to last year B you remember the other one Florida you beat Florida yeah how does that make sense based on what you did at home this last season it doesn’t you one of the worst offenses in power five and yet you found yourself in some of those game they look good against LSU they honestly did Luc has played out of his mind hopefully I mean he got him back that’s a huge Edition huge Edition I don’t know if he can compete for the macki award the best tied in college football this year sure hope he can he’s got the tools Bobby patrino seems to put tight ends in the right spot ask DJ that’s Chris grg I think you have a chance to do something to do something there there’s no B alab Alabama Georgia on the schedule this year now I’m not going to lie to you and tell you it’s an easy schedule because it’s not but you’ll at your away games with like Mississippi State and A&M on in College Station first year head coach and Mike Elco it’s not horrible it’s not 2020 when they’re like oh by the way you got to play Georgia and you got to go on the road to Florida who Florida I think was in the SEC Championship that year against Alabama if I remember that right it’s not that so you avoid them you have to play Alabama every year since joined the league had to play Georgia back toback years you’re at least not going to have to play him this year or next year probably will have to down the road at some point I mean is it easy going to still water week too no is it easy not playing a home game I say it I say a home game till week three cuz War Mor is not a home game no but the road games are not awful then the guys coming in LSU’s got no Jade Daniels Old Mist unlike playing the cold l k unlike playing in the cold hopefully that game’s at night I think that’s a flex game if I remember that right got to go back and double check Texas last home game of the season finish strong November the 16th finish strong boys I know 11 or 12 it’s I think it’s it’s 11 or 12 might just be 11 figure that out that game meets the world to fans means the world to you listing right now and it should based on the significance of that rivalry over the years Tennessee true I say true freshman Young quarterback just going to Oklahoma two weeks before they got a bye we before they play it’s not great um but there are some positives when you look at the schedule in this football team we’ll see again I just I there’s been so much negativity stemming from this fan base lately and I I don’t like I don’t want to sit here and tell you it’s not all warranted because some of it is it really is but I also think there are some things you can look at and say you know what this team might make a bowl game this year you hope they do because again the turmoil that could follow another change in the football program is not something you want have to go through you would much rather them outdo expectations win six or seven regular season games and be on the right tchs that helps recruiting these guys that are either on the fence or committed elsewhere right now in state they got to see some progress that’s what they got to see I mean they’re not going to sign till December the early signing period maybe later on if you miss him there you got to flip some of these instate kids there’s no reason that four your top five inate kids are committed elsewhere not go or not committed to Arkansas I think Grayson William Grayson Wilson Conway Cory rack on arrivals is the only top five kid in your state that’s currently committed Zach was talking about it a week or so ago 163 star better kids in this state you ought to get 14 of them 14 or 15 they ought to be bleeding razor back red and I realize it’s more difficult nowadays to convince kids to stay in state when they’re getting offered money offered elsewhere but do you think their parents wanted to go elsewhere no now that’s not the case for every kid but you’ve got to show not just the kids the parents like this thing tending in the right direction best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten work for good management I don’t tell Tommy I said this he’s on vacation right now he’s a damn good manager and we are both fortunate me and Big C to be in a situation where it’s good for both of us we walked into good situations we didn’t walk into disarray or turmoil or anything like that we walked into good situations what do you think it be like for a young freshman out of high school walking into a back-to-back 4 and8 win season questions about their head football coach or a team that just won three or four more games than they did last year what situation do you think they want to walk into here about two weeks ago I’ll start with him uh what can you tell us about his impact and and coach decided that he was good enough and better than Josh giddy at the time to to start for this team in the playoffs Brandon yeah I mean Isaiah Joe was huge for this Thunder team this year and and last year like the fact that the Thunder got him for free Thunder fans absolutely think it’s crazy that the 76ers cut him Thunder with Isaiah Joe on the floor the spacing that he provides the shooting that he provides just unreal for this team Shay gild just Alexander Jada when they had that space that Isaiah Joe provides and it gives them room to drive to the Lane which the Thunder L to do the Thunder Lov to drive and kick drive and kick and he provides a space and his three-point thread is just he he’s the best three-point shooter on this team and so I I was calling for him to start I think it was a great move for him to start over Josh GID those last couple games in the playoffs just a huge impact on this team Brandon forgive my ignorance I I mean I looked this up I just want to make sure has there an announcements from Sam prey and the organization if they picked up his team option or not or is that still up in the air still up in the air still up in the air um you know I obviously think it’s going to happen uh like I said Isaiah Joe right now is on a bargain contract for the Thunder which as they make more moves we just saw them go out and trade for Alex Caruso they have $32 million of cap space and we all anticipate that they’re going to use that cap space to improve the roster so having a a guy like Isaiah Joe on that contract uh and the impact he brings is is really really valuable for the team so we were just talking uh last segment about Texas A&M not basketball but baseball with Jim slash leaving to go to Austin uh that’s actually Alex ruso is an Aggie I actually like because he’s now on my favorite team the Oklahoma City Thunders kid’s been around the the block a little bit in the NBA it’s a good Defender good three-point shooter what’s he add to that roster Brandon oh I mean the Thunders defense was already a top five defense you have like Lou Dort Chad hongren Jaylen Williams the other jayen Williams uh Shay gild Alexander but Alex Caruso was second Team all defense this year he was First Team all defense last year and he shot over 40% from three on nearly five attempts per game so not only does he upgrade and already good defense like strengthening your strength and what he brings to the defense but I think he’s going to make him better offensively as well another floor spacer for sh G Alexander and JB uh and a guy that is a playmaker he’s just so diverse I think it really upgrades the R I think it’s a a difference making needle moving move yeah and again I I wonder about what else they’re going to do again we’re talking with Brandon rabar Oklahoma City beat rider for the daily Thunder and the Thunder Insider for the franchise across Oklahoma City you mentioned Jay dub talk about Jay will I know that was confusing for Thunder fans at first you got two Jaylen Williams uh our guy uh just a few years in uh to the NBA uh we saw him improved taking charges knocking down threes how did he Elevate his game this year Brandon yeah it’s the the three-point shot making has been so impressive when the Thunder drafted Jay will you know it was for I think first of all was for team Vibes he’s he is a fan favorite he is a locker room favorite like what he brings like just chemistry-wise and just you know in the locker room I think is invaluable uh everybody loves Jay will um but yeah his obviously the charge taking it was wild that he led the NCAA and charge is taken and then he goes to the NBA in his rookie season he does the same thing leads to the NBA and charge is taken uh so and and he improved as a Defender too you know they really needed somebody behind Chet hungr when Chet hungr set and he really stepped up and and I think he improved his defense uh he got more block shots this past season so just really such a diverse game from Jay will I wonder with the the cap space you mentioned um I’m a little worried because I am partial to to Isaiah and Jaylen and part of Trades and part of money is you trade your young pieces young valuable pieces off for veteran players and guys that take more money with Sam pry who’s one of the best GMS in the sport uh what kind of moves or Acquisitions could you see him making especially around the draft uh when it comes to some younger players on that roster oh I think that Jay will and Isaiah Joe are safe first of all like I said Isaiah Joe I think he’s invalu the offense uh but he’s he also for being you know the smallest guy on the team what he does defensively he’s been really impressive too he plays really physically but Jay will I just it’s a funny thing to say but truly his locker room presence and the chemistry he brings I think is invaluable to this team so I think both guys are safe I do think that they go out and use that cap space and they use you know they have so many assets more first round picks than any team in the NBA like a guy like Isaiah hartstein has been on the radar you know another another big some size uh I think that they’ll absolutely add some size maybe it’s starting for now that Josh giddy is gone and another bench big yeah and by the way Jaylen had that same personality at Arkansas and for those that knew him at Fort Smith Norths side had the best smile on college basketball a few short years ago Georgia will win the SEC you think they do better than 10 and two this is I know Bama’s a little down you would expect but you bring in Oklahoma and Texas and then Tennessee’s coming up as well I want a I think you’re going to have a two-weight tie because I can see Old Miss or Texas Al also being 7 to1 I don’t I don’t know if I necessarily see Alabama or LSU or Missouri even though Missouri that is the team to beat not just in the Southeastern Conference but in college football right now especially with Jim Harbaugh departing as well I think a more interesting question would have been who do you think wins the SEC West but there are no divisions anymore so uh you can’t do that but yeah Georgia on paper is definitely the team to beat I I’m kind of with Utah I think Texas comes in are they are we giving them too much credit for going to the playoff last year are they coming in as the second best team in the conference right now they lost so the thing about the lwn horns is yes ERS is back might be the best quarterback in the league but they lost a good Chuck of D lineman they lost Xavier worthy they lost a lot of Talent on last year’s roster but they’ve recruited at a high level much to the of all of us listening and talking right now it’s going to be an issue now the good thing is they’re going to overlook you on November the 16th it just depends on what kind of Arkansas team is is in that point is that a team that’s vying for a bowl game is it a team that’s in a bowl game I don’t know uh but you’re coming off a buy it’s going to be the last sec home game of the season I think the last if I remember right the no last yeah because you got Louisiana Tech the 23rd uh so that will be a game that I Hope Arkansas gets up for like they usually do would be surprised if they did but I don’t think I might be giving Texas too much credit um definitely not giving Oklahoma any credit even though they went 10 and three they lost Dylan Gabriel they’re trying they’ve now it’s 11 12 total that they’ve gotten a baseball player commits they’ve got several and then some High Caliber D1 guys like the Ohio State and Oregon State pitcher so he is working they also got a Rocco Pepe to commit now again you got to visualize this as as best you can his nickname is juice and he had a walk-off in his old school come on baby come on baby come on come on come on juice be awesome to see juice in a walkoff in Omaha Nebraska in game three of the College World Series final next year Pepe so I when I think of Pepe I always I am P Le that’s where my mind always goes but a lot of uh a lot of players recently that have committed to this Arkansas baseball I remember right he’s the kid that was at Long Beach State and then Fresno State I somehow did not jot that down when when talking about them because he might want to double check me on that I know I’m riding on y menz being Oregon State kid bottle shees being the O he was at Long Beach State okay the what are they called the dirt bags is it the dirt bags is that their team okay uh speaking of baseball how about Benny baseball hitting himself another bomb earli unfortunately uh the uh the white socks once again lost I I I I don’t know if I’m in that situation I they’re just just in a in a bad thing but at least many baseball’s doing things like thiss on that first one Dodgers win four to3 over the Dallas kyel getting traded uh to the Milwaukee Brewers and not a fan of this I’m not a brewer I mean I’m a Cubs fan but it’s just yeah here’s uh so cool connection my brother-in-law went to high school with Dallas at Bishop Kelly which is cool they’re on I think they one state if I remember that right but here was Dallas on kind of what he saw in the Milwaukee franchise I’m always eager always excited you know a lot of guys in here would say the same thing especially couple of the guys next to me in the locker room I mean I’ve worked through some injuries kind of worked through some stuff you know poor performance Health stuff but I knew deep down that I still had couple years left so it’s been nice to perform well in a hitter friendly league in the PCL so I’m kind of P that test so it’s nice to be here I this was one of the spots that I kind of targeted is that like your least favorite team or is it still St Louis it’s St Louis Brewers are a really close uh second I mean I don’t like the white socks either don’t get me wrong uh but we don’t play them as often Okay so yeah it’s in the division it’s St Louis and then the Brewers I had a when I was a kid one time this isn’t why I hate them but when I was a kid one time I went to a Brewers game they weren’t playing the Cubs but I had a Cubs Jersey and This Woman’s like Hey kid you’re at the wrong game get out of here I did that uh with my Packers Brett Favre Jersey at Kansas City a few years back with our buddy David from South Arkansas I didn’t phone in in a while David need to hear from you big dog I know you’re excited about the Chiefs trying to go back to the to back to back this upcoming season if we’re I guess 64 days out from Arkansas football that makes it 71 days out no KC is hosting that opener I just forget who it is I can’t remember off the top of my head Big C if you can do that look that up I know they they open the this season that might be it just double check on that that you might you might be accurate on that but we’re 71 days out I guess for the NFL season beginning and Kansas City kicking off their season remember I was in Arro last year when they lost Baltimore oh yeah that’s AFC Championship rematch in Arrowhead so newly retooled Baltimore with Derrik Henry so should be fun all right basketball wise uh Melo Sanchez from Hawaii Pacific and then Big C help me on this Jaden karuth kth uh is committed one’s a high school kid Jaden’s a high school kid Melo is played at Hawaiian specific College wise um not really much on either of these guys uh these are again not the high Richard was talking about earlier not the high-profile kids that you’ve gone after the first nine um guys still want to play they want to compete uh but doesn’t seem like that they’ll be as as close to getting minutes as some of the five stars that you’ve got on campus and the high-profile transfer transfers you brought in well hopefully they’re just good team and locker room guys we had Arkansas football one of the things that I look forward to each and every year is fantasy football we were talking about it earlier this week I was reading this uh let’s read this thing Christian our great coworker Ray is involved in fantasy football some of you are involved in fantasy football and maybe fantasy basketball baseball I’m just a fantasy football guy so there’s a report and a study out there from simulation and gaming that uh these fantasy leaks Christian uh cause high stress anxiety and problematic Behavior but positive moods are also at higher levels with these individuals that participate in money leagues so your lower experiences are even lower and you’re more stressed with fantasy sports especially buddies on the table but your peak of Happiness reaches higher levels uh it’s because of the gambling like behaviors and the emotional experiences that you go through during the midst of a season now I personally have never won a fantasy football league I’ve got to the championship I’ve been in the playoffs I’ve had to dress up like Harley Quinn after a sacko loss which is for those who don’t know it’s the worst fantasy finish of all um but I try to avoid anything that will stress me out and fantasy is one of those things that I think would stress me out oh it does trust me we make our punishments emotionally physically and taxable like you we we make sure that someone is inflicted with pain either physically or emotionally and apparently according to this study again people reach valleys and low points and they also reach Peaks and high points so it’s funny how fantasy has that much of an impact on our lives Big C it really is I mean I know a lot of people that do it winning money is great bragon rids are great but I just don’t know if it’s worth it man hammer and Hank from Prairie Grove um clay I’ve I’ve listen a lot of sports talk in my time and I know he’s he’s definitely a legend and uh you still remember like the DAT he passed when he passed and and everything that kind of he provided to to you and Chuck and and you and Bo back in the day yeah I mean he called every day you know Hank was was you know was special in a lot of ways and kind of uh you know the adopted favorite son of prie Grove that you had warri suspenders and his Cat in the Hat top hat and you know I think family resisted you know that he would just walk out the door and hit hch heik to the square in fville or or wherever he needed to go uh for a while but just realized that people in prry Grove were going to take care of him and know he was front and center you know games uh you know high school games or whatever was going on because he was a sports fan but Above All Else he was a Razorback fan and positive in every way and but his uh his calls were unique and they they were they were uh positive and enthusiastic and you know you just look forward to them and and I know through the years uh the different uh producers that we had on the show and you know it was over 30 something years there might have been you know five or six and when he called it didn’t really matter what was going on out we we might make him hold because we didn’t want to put him on right at the end of a segment because we wanted to make sure we were we started segments with him so that he wasn’t crowded um but I I just remember you know it’s July 22nd and I mean last week I was like oh my gosh this is anniversary of his passing Eight years ago I don’t remember the date my father died I I remember about when it was um but I don’t ever I mean it hits me every year you know I went to his memorial service and saw the way the town turned out in PR Grove and the stories that were told and there were many um wrote a column about that I think I’ve written one other but I I was thinking about what was I going to write next week well this was you know on the 22nd I’m going to write about Hammer Hank Hank French you know his dad was a an Air Force General U and retired a little early back to Prairie Grove and just everybody in the family the community helped care for for Han and um met him on the Square a few times and you know we talked razor back stuff but some of the calls were just just Priceless and you know if you if you were listening on the on the radio you perked up because this was Hank yeah yeah thank you for letting me talk about Hank this morning remember I don’t want to lie I I don’t like I I guess I screen calls for B show I would have been what 2014 and 2015 um was right before his passing so I don’t want to sit here and lie and say I remember him 100% um but I do think like like Han I think part of I mean people have grown up listening to you and Chuck on their Airwaves for 30 years and I think about like some of the callers it’s kind of been they’ve ingratiated themselves um some for good reasons some some for some for bad reasons but uh Hank definitely one of the uh the big time ones but he’s he’s def you know there’s people call in and you know I could go through and name him but I don’t want I don’t want to talk about those people and some of them you know like the negativity just dripped but the enthusiasm that Hank brought was was different and you know I wrote about this there was you know he always had three point point and then he would watch just hang up and listen and Chuck didn’t he didn’t really try to you know engage him too much just kind of let him do his thing and then but Bo somehow really delicately started to kind of engage him and and he and he did and it worked and but there there just was some great calls one one of them that he to me and Chuck you know he had three points usually be statistical things and then it was it was always gentleman and he’s like he finished up with gentlemen you watch that Space Jam movie with Michael Jordan teaming up with bucks bunny going after the bad guys and I mean Chuck and I looked at each other I mean and it was just perfect you know it’s like you know what he you I looked when he hung up I said Chuck I’m going to see space jams had not thought about it before then but if Hank thinks that it’s worth going to then she in not going to space j and he he said I’m taking my wife too it was just you know it just was just perfect every time new one’s uh new one’s terrible but the old one with Michael Patrick I guess Charles Barkley and and that one was uh that was good back there Larry’s in it and uh um space j Hank Hank wants us all to watch space jams tonight on Netflix I guess you can still find it yeah that it’s probably the there Disney Plus or something like that um clay we can we we can definitely come back to Hank in just a bit couple things that have happened uh the last few days that I I think are pertinent to to our Airwaves and to you um Big O Oliver niller Southwest Conference Hall of Fame I clay you could you could explain to me why it’s taking this long I mean I’m looking up his stats and seeing okay top five top why what happened yeah first of all just think about it in these terms Southwest Conference Hall of Fame encompasses nine schools and encompasses every sport that you can imagine you know it’s it’s not just it’s not just basketball so this isn’t a Basketball Hall of thing this is a football this is a basketball this is track and field this my dad’s in it they’ve they’ve inducted Sports Riders so uh in the South you know first of all it’s a really New Hall of Fame it was created just a few years ago so they started from scratch it was after the Southwest Conference died and they decided we’re going to have a Hall of Fame looking back you know over this great complex that no longer exists so when you start from scratch you you can’t take 50 every year you’re taking you know nine or 10 or whatever because your lunching you you know everybody gets to speak and I I’m doing a Hall of Fame lunching today and we did four a couple of years ago and we’re trying to do it in an hour and get people back home or to their jobs and four you know you say okay you get you get five minutes well that’s not fair so so I guess my point is everybody can’t go in at once and if you look at these groups it is so rich and I can’t tell you that last year’s group you know that Oliver deserves in it or next year’s group somebody else you know so to say that it’s taken this long well the well the hall has only existed for a few years so that’s that’s the answer yeah and he’s a guy that I know a lot of Arkansas fans happy to to see he’ll be inducted coming up Tuesday August the 13th uh in Waco Texas of all places I know um my dad being a b Waco’s grown a lot since then still not a place I’d love to live but uh cool for a a Dallas Fort Worth area kid uh get it and of course an Arkansas Razer back that is uh that is close to home so that’s a I think it didn’t he wasn’t he from Fort Worth yeah is that right yeah Fort Worth okay uh and so I got I got one big O story all right let’s hear it so it was his senior year and remember uh Barnhill the dressing room was accessible you had to come out of the dress room and you walked right out on the court it was in the corner kind of let’s see that would be the southwest corner uh you could actually see the locker room door from the court so people would just wait out there in Throgs and you come out players come out and they would they would give autographs you know they didn’t clear the arena and so 15 20 minutes afterwards there’d be 300 fans little kids and big O came out you know he’ signed autograph signed autographs signed he came out with a red ink pad and an O stamp and he just stamped stamped stamped he didn’t sign anything he just had a red o and he stamped everything which is kind of cool cuz he did it you know and you say this is Big O and you know but instead of you know doing an O but he just and he his answer Nolan got on to him for that and stopped it say no you got to sign oh you gotta and he goes but I can get 350 in in seven or eight minutes and get to dinner so it was about getting to dinner for Big O I love that uh had not heard that story I wish clay I got a chance I saw it yeah I saw it see in person got chance to watch him in uh excuse me uh play in bar hill arena for basketball camp back in the day but never actually got to take in a game outside of I guess the red white game that was that they put on with with uh now the late Eddie sudden but Eddie was there for that as was uh coach Richardson um clay’ got a new coach obviously John Cal Perry we’ve talked about him numerous times since he’s taken over for obvious reasons people want to know I saw he just got his house uh situated uh uh but tonight is is a big stage for him um you’ve got got two guys that’ll be first round picks two other guys that will probably be drafted Edwards and Reeves uh I I just think about it’s kind of weird um to be an Arkansas fan but you’re rooting for all these Kentucky guys to to go high and and make their money tonight because now their head coach is is your head coach just kind of weird position we find ourselves in well it just it just adds a little more weight to his legacy which is always great but hey if there was ever a coach that would be comfortable sitting as his guys are drafted it’d be him because he’s done it about 30 times I mean it just it’s incred I saw a list of what his guys in the NBA have made you know their lifetime uh contracts in the NBA and it’s it’s like a billion is it I mean I don’t know uh I mean this just like so John McDonald when he was head coach in Arkansas and won all these National Championship when he brought somebody into his office he pulled about a a shoe box or maybe it was a cigar I can’t remember it might have been a cigar box and he just opened it up and dumped it in like like 30 something national championship rings just rolled across the table and and he and his pitch was if you want one of those you’ll come here and you’ll probably get three or four because they you know they they could win three national championships of the year you know that you know if you’re a distance guy you can win in Cross Country you can win indoor you win outdoor so he says because you could win eight or nine or 10 you know in your in your four years here and then guys were doing that you know they had a box of rings but I think John comes in and has a PowerPoint in said this is what my guys have made and it just goes on and on and on and on and it’s like oh I get it and there’s nobody else can do that maybe Nick Savin could have done that for you know football players but there’s nobody in basketball that can put that kind of a list up there you know I think coach Kay had a good one but not anybody else was really close to uh what John has done Coach Cal um and then and we’re going to add to it in the draft there’s going to be more I saw uh clay I don’t know if you saw this Fox Sports had a stat like of the the top nine or 10 best colleges to translate and produce NBA players lately and Arkansas’s in the top 10 that’s only going to go up uh in just a bit I I don’t want to I want to mean we watch them all the time we we were watching Daniel Gafford in the finals yep I mean if they’re out there yep Jordan got his first ring happy for him uh and I I I do want to discuss that a little bit more uh as we continue on with Klay Henry on a 70th birthday make sure you wish clay if you see him today a happy number 70th and he embarks on another decade uh if you need a place eight you’re what what I said you know it’s an interesting dilemma for Arkansas fans because they saw the kind of head-to-head that he had with the with with Dave Van Horn few years ago but I mean they both bued HS I mean they that’s like two bulls in the field fiery tough and that’s what makes Tony good and that’s that’s what makes Dave good so uh he fought for Arkansas players the same way he foughts F fights for his Tennessee players I mean he was firing that third base coaching box he challenged an umpires when assistant coaches weren’t for Arkansas and listen to people like Carson shatty and others talk about what you know the the fire that that Tony gave them uh you know as players and so I you I give it to him he he’s done you know he’s done great things at Tennessee and and they’ve set themselves up for for a nice you know for for more I mean they’re the now Dave’s you know he’s got a winning record against Tony so I I I think that uh Arkansas is s still sitting pretty good with their coach so but Tony first time I talked to him it was right after he’d come from TCU and it was clear that he had been uncomfortable working for his previous head coach s Nagel and and I he he didn’t just rip him but there were some things that came out you know over the next six months being around Tony and hearing it from other coaches on the staff uh so he you know sash nigle is he he’s he’s exactly what you think he is when he’s walking away from Texas A&M to Texas he don’t really care about the people around him he doesn’t care about he’s taking his staff with him too well I’m talking about players I mean some of them will go some of them won’t some of them are Aggies to the core yeah you there’s so I mean you heard it over and over like this guy grew up to be an agie this guy grew up you know he’s an A so there’s there’s some of them but but anyway uh the the he belongs in Texas and and when I say that I’m not think that they deserve each other and I will enjoy is is you know Arkansas beats Texas when they come in here this season too and and Tennessee coming in clay sounds like from Dave yes so yeah so I you know I don’t have uh a lot of great things to say about him I I was I was rooting for Tennessee against Texas A&M one because I like Tony and two because I’m not I’m I’m not too fond of a SLO think about the the Texas torpedo Fort Worth College Station now Austin Texas I if I had to pick one of the three I’d say Fort Worth times a thousand a lot of success for TCU Texas is Texas is a great job it really is yeah so I get it uh still frustrated how it went down and a lot of people seem to be in that same camp with that uh I I don’t know what’s going to happen there I guess the question you got to ask is Clay who’s A&M gonna get I mean Tommy always I I think Tommy’s you’re right it might be an L you know an LSU coach moving it might be you know I don’t know um what what it will be but they they’ll get a good coach and then you know like you say The Dominoes you know then there’ll be another job open so we’ll see you know one thing to watch uh Josh elander you know the hitting coach yeah at Tennessee who was at Arkansas so you have to put him in the Dave Van Horn coaching tree he’s about ready for you know to get a good job so I don’t I don’t know where that he’ll land uh but that that will be that’ll be a test for Tony to see how he managed his thing and and everything I I get that’s a the 12th man’s there but you’ve been all over the SEC in the country that’s not the toughest place to play is it so I I’m probably the wrong one to ask about all this kind of stuff because I’ve never felt like that you know that fans are the reason why a team wins or loses I you know I think home court home field is about who has the best players and as you have better players the fans get louder um I’ve been to Kyle Field when I you know their team wasn’t very good and their fans they weren’t very good either I mean they just sit there you know kind of hacked off so when you have good players uh and good coaches then it then it kind of reaches a crescendo the the you know the same thing is going on uh you know with the softball team you know that that wasn’t a tough place to play but now it is but it isn’t because they’ve got 3500 fans there it’s because they got guys gals that can knock it out of the park so when baggies have good players then that’s a tough place to play because they got a lot of fans but it wasn’t that tough a place last year their team wasn’t as good I know so so so it just correlates with when you have great players same thing was going on when Tom osbor was coaching at Nebraska you know they’ve got all those Nebraska fans great example yeah they Haven been a very tough Place lately that’s a the players that’s a really good example with uh Nebraska in Lincoln and I guess it’s Lincoln Memorial or whatever it’s called Uh other news to get to in your SEC update sounds like uh print vbl has an extension for the Oklahoma fans listen clay where do you we’ve had this discussion with with Chuck and Tommy a little bit I don’t know if I asked you where do you stand on on Oklahoma in year one do you think they’re going to be able to compete in this conference well I don’t see great defensive tackles and if you don’t have great defensive tackles there’s going to be some some uh you know some tough sledding for for your team um because there are great defensive players defensive linemen in the SEC and not just it one place you I did this interview with switcher about oh 6 eight weeks ago and it’s going to be a three-part movie at Hogs plus I think coming out in about a month I it’s really good stuff not because I asked the questions because who there was sitting across from me and I asked him about you know what Oklahoma was going to face in the SEC and I I think he’s as good a source as anyone and I mean he loves the cers and I think he helps with their nil campaign and he’s he’s he’s all it but he said he’s been trying to tell their fans that there’s some years they’re going to lose seven games yeah and they they’re like huh you know that that there might be some years where they go seven and five and um that if they’re not and I and I said well what do you think the SDC is like he gave the same answer that my dad did 30 something years ago when we were at the Board of Trustees meeting in the student union and Roy Kramer was introduced by Frank BS is the you know they’re going into the SEC and my dad leaned over and he goes to SEC like playing Texas every week well people in Oklahoma know what it’s like to play Texas and it’s a slobber knocker but that’s what it is I don’t care if you’re playing Mississippi State um you you might play vanderbeld and you think you got an easy game and you might beat him but but they’re going to have some dudes and but the rest of those teams in the SEC there there’s no there’s no easy you know they’re not they’re not moving forward with like analysts and quality control basically giving staffs more leeway with what they can do like these insane staffs that we’ve seen already there were certain restrictions on these these analyst and those have have gone away as of last night as of the Voting is this I mean what look at this it’s just the divide’s going to get greater I mean is that what you see when you see a rule change like this that the bigger schools just got richer as of last night well the bigger schools are making the rules and if the bigger schools are making the rules they’re going to swing heavily towards them and all of the little schools are scared to death that there’s going to be a separation and these schools you know the the Big 10 and the SEC the ACC and Big 12 that they’re just going to run off and have their own organization that very well may be what happens but so every time there is a chance for the council to say what do y’all want well we want this they’re going to get it I hate everyone every time in other words there will be no rules eventually yeah I hate that but you’re right you’re we we don’t really know T here’s the thing we don’t know what it’s going to look like we we think we’re going to hate it we always every human hates change you want it to be the same you you know you want you want normal but then we get there it’s like ah I mean I I can tell you that you know 50 years ago 45 years ago when they started giving us laptops and little computers to take the Press Box and we’re on Deadline and we got to figure out how to use them and it was a a post Malone fan you like post Malone at all I do like some of his songs I like the fact that he’s a Cowboy fan he is a diard Cowboy fan he just came out with a new song recently with Blake Sheldon for his upcoming album he’s actually coming to the amp later on in October it’s the Sunday after Peacemaker um I’d like to come see him a little bit but you mention again the the Dallas Cowboy aspect I figured that might might you be a fan I was thinking about this is I was reading the I guess the bulletin or the news report so you’ve got The Amp in Northwest Arkansas I was thinking about some of the great venues in the state I’ve been to a concert in Bud Walden went to G and Donald duia parking lot at bomb you’ve got these different venues like Majestic Temple live I’m basically just going from Northwest Arkansas to the river valley L Rock uh Riverfest which was uh at the river front in Rock we got these fairgrounds in different places like to go see something at JJ’s lot but we’re lucky in our state that we have some good concert venues and post Malone again coming in October I’m excited about that there’s a good lineup coming to the amp this summer and this fall uh so if you might want to go look at that if you’re a concert goer because there’s some good artists and and good bands you might want to go see all right it’s been a good show Chuck Barrett’s back with us
