we were saying this was worse than the Masters when he was a kid are we right yeah yeah this is worse to think this is worse you know St Andrews uh recently when he went just pared every hole and cam Smith kind of scooted up that was that was very bad that was very bad and then last year at LACC made a mess of 14 really with a wedge ghost to wind can happen didn’t get up and down that was quite bad this is really really really really really bad this is a terrible one yeah this is one of those like people are referencing Doug Sanders and all these kind of Infamous um I was going to use the word choke I suppose you like yeah you can’t avoid that word like there is that is part of it not the full story but it’s it’s really bad it’s it’s a sicker for him yet it’s not vavel but it’s not far off it’s certainly it’s going to live in infamy as as much I mean if he never wins another one it really will um and it will always be there I think like it’s funny I I look you can’t get away I it’s funny various golfing WhatsApp groups that I’m in there is a strong cohort of like anti- Rory sentiment same old Rory stuff and it’s kind of hard to this morning of all mornings make a strong argument against that and talk about how he keeps coming back and you know but he he played so well as well like it’s the really it’s the thing you have to kind of stay and it’s it’s it’s it’s hard to almost make the argument too strongly but he played like Thursday’s round was just amazing by all accounts he was in just his own bubble not talking to Friend or Foe and and Thursday’s round he was fantastic and didn’t have his best stuff Saturday Friday Saturday but kind of did did well enough and then yesterday like off the tea like Bryson Des Shambo was living off the fairways he couldn’t find a fairway all day um M Roy put on like a clinic off the tea a lot of his iron shots were brilliant and I like where I’d kind of lost a touch of faith in Rory was around that meaty middle section of a back nine on a Sunday when it was really tough that he just wasn’t actually putting his foot down and then yesterday he had four birdies and five holes at a US Open 9 through 13 four and five and he was so unlucky on the um Power five fifth hole I don’t know if I mean you don’t know how much you stayed up and watch but like he hit a 236 yard second into the par five and it was Perfection and it just started trickling back and trickling back and gathered speed and it should have went into the bunker which would have been a relatively easy up and down for birdie but it just missed the bunker and it went into just a clump of nastiness and he made a six and look everyone gets bad look but I just I just to to emphasize he was playing so well and and even

  1. Great driving but his iron play was a bit weak all day. Missed a few greens from the middle of the fairway early on and very rarely got it close. Great putting was what made his round up until the couple of missed ones but he also hit some poor irons coming in which put him under a bit more pressure. I think a lot of it was down to luck though. The two he missed were tricky downhill left to righters. If he had left them on the other side of the hole then it's unlikely he would have missed

  2. It aint easy to play pro golf. I'm no Rory fan, but he has been top of the game for 16 years – unheard of in modern game. He may need some guidance on the course, Harry wont get sacked but should he resign……

  3. He played well. Hit some WONDERFUL long putts. I don’t think he choked.
I think he just missed at the wrong time. Yes, he needed to not miss, but I don’t think he froze. If anything, he seemed to just lose concentration. I thought his feet were wrong on both missed putts, but what do I know??? I don’t watch enough Rory to know.

  4. He can putt from 27 ft and 22 ft and they can drop in, from that distance its generally a two putt, so you don't overthink the situation as what happened yesterday, 4 ft putts are alot more difficult than 27 ft but only in your head, you're not expected to drop a 27 footer, you are however expected to sink a 4 ft putt, did he overthink the situation, most likely yes which is unfortunate for a player of his quality.

  5. McIlroy does not have a divine right to win majors. There has long been far too much hype around him and I believe his being the ambassador against LIV isn't helping him focus on his own game. His storming off without shaking the winner's hand is not in the spirit of golf, however strong the antipathy.

  6. The masters one was a lot worse in terms of his own meltdown.

He would still have needed something like -3 to win that day as it goes but he properly imploded back then.

This time around he missed 2 short putts, one was a horrible one with a lot of break and the other one he hit a bad stroke. It's bad but it's not historic.

  7. First time missing 3 footers in the last 3 holes of the tournament. Know the pressure is immense but that type of putts are the ones you are expected to make if you want to win a major.

  8. Rory couldn't handle the pressure of Major on a Sunday and probably never will. Going down as another of the could-have-beens and almost theres.

  9. Van de velde? Worse than the masters? He started the day 3 behind the leader. The putt on 16 was the only unforgivable mistake he made all day.Dechambeau missed a similar straight one.The putt on 18 while short was very tricky. This isn’t a collapse like Norman. If Dechambeau had’ve lost after being 3 ahead at start of play that would be a collapse but yeah…everybody will remember the missed putt on 18 instead of all the great work he did to get himself in with a shout in the first place, that’s the way it goes 🤷🏻‍♂️

  10. From $37K to $45K that's the minimum range of profit return every week I thinks it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.

  11. Why aren't people discussing the fact that Rory has his best mate as caddy and not an established professional caddy who could grab hold of him and steady the ship in difficult moments on the course.
Rory is stubborn and wants to do things his way, the easy way. When the easy way is not always a winning way. He won't recover from this. His nerves are shot, and he has only himself to blame.

  12. This is not a disastrous finish – it’s a normal finish- Ryder cup – he won’t miss – Regular event- he won’t miss – Masters – British- US – PGA – he will miss ! He wants to win for others – TW only wants to win for Himself – there’s the difference IMO

  13. Rory needs to eat humble pie and change caddy , no need to take driver off 18, his course management is poor, having a good experienced caddy he would have had at least 2 more majors by now
