as always Ted kick us off who do you have as your winner of the weekend well Texas A&M got off to the quick start they’re up one game uh but either one of these schools first baseball championship ever uh so it’s going to be a pivotal moment for either program I guess to everyone out there who you’re rooting for probably depends on who you don’t want to hear talk about it for eternity we’re I I’m not a DieHard college baseball guy when U’s in it I’m in it once they’re out I’m out that’s that’s how my college baseball fandom works it’s like I’m gonna follow OU and then I I would say I’m the ultimate casual when it comes to college baseball I care about one team and that’s really it so I know very little about A&M I know very little about Tennessee other than I’ve heard their coach talk quite a bit and he’s kind of hilarious but we all want A&M to lose right I’m not alone here it is it is a must okay it is a must they haven’t won I don’t think they’ve won a championship in one of the major sports in a really really really long time and if that happens dear God it’s going to be horrible because they’re already they’re already the loudest fan base which I guess for them in their world in their Arena give them credit for that everyone else views it as massively delusional but that’s okay that’s fine um but yeah if if you want your timeline on whatever social media platform you use to be somewhat manageable for the future you’re a Tennessee Vs fan this weekend game two 2m today I’ve got I’ve got a take about Tennessee that I want to run by you out of all the teams the most palatable orange compared to Oklahoma State like Oklahoma State’s so sharp raised to hate it Texas I mean come on what are we even talking about I feel like Tennessee it’s almost that like sherbet kind of makes me think of ice cream it is the most I I don’t love it I’m not saying I love it but out of on the on the spectrum of oranges I’m like okay that’s I I could look at that for an extended period of time and not feel nauseous whereas the other ones H you got two extremes you’ve got a that’s that’s my that’s my uh championship series analysis right there hey tiesy oranges and that bad go vs do you think that that’s a you think that’s a common opinion I don’t or do you think like we’re probably the only we are the only fan base that really cannot comment on it because hatred of Texas hatred of Oklahoma State so those colors are very tied into that Tennessee we’ve got no real connection there I mean we we’ve played some games we’ve had some great great matchups before we’re about to be in the SEC but I want because in my the way I feel about I think that would be the common thing because like I said it’s subtle you got the highlighter orange and then you’ve got like the rust orange Hennessee fits somewhere nicely in the middle so I think I agree with you but I’m not sure if that’s just our bias speaking I don’t like orange I was raised to hate the color it’s here’s a perfect example Sun’s third birthday party or son’s thirdd birthday this week my wife we always blow up balloons and like when they’re sleeping we quietly put him in to the room guess what color of balloon was left in the back uh oh no not blowing up the orange balloons no no I I realize that may be psychotic to some people but that’s just who I am it’s how I was raised kid doesn’t need orange balloons he knows he does know what the color orange is if you’re worried out there that he won’t know what that color is he knows orange I I’m not trying to eliminate it from his life I was just like you know what we’re gonna go with red and green and blue yellow yeah yeah orange you’re staying in the bag with me no so that’s I I’m just what I’m trying to say is am I going to learn to hate the Tennessee orange because I find it okay right now as we continue to play them more in football I’ll probably learn to hate it possibly I’m G I’m jotting that down I think the result of this uh this first SEC game this first SEC game could have a major impact on that I’m writing that down to check back with you after the uh the result of that game fair enough good luck in baseball Tennessee we’re all rooting for you the entire Oklahoma fan base who do you have as your loser of the weekend loser of the weekend the celebrity OU golf team comprising of Curtis Lofton Dusty dorek and Teddy Layman explain in a just a gut-wrenching disastrous moment it was just here’s what happened Gabe corn faery tour uh they had a celebrity shootout Jack Nicholas was in town uh and they had two teams put together Jack could come in and and give a chip or a putt if you needed it he was your Mulligan on a whole uh you know just bringing some attention to the corn faery tour that’s going on right now which by the way uh tournament’s awesome final days today course is in amazing condition but it was a Four Hole scramble all right um OU versus OSU osu’s team Desmond Mason Robin Ventura Brendan maner and you know you got the three football players whatever we’re The Underdogs but it’s our home course we’ve got our home fans there we start off hole one Dusty hits a great Drive Curtis hits a great approach I think like a 12 or 15t birdie boom we’re up one one hole move to the next to part three I put a nice shot on the T or on the green maybe maybe 10 foot out Curtis steps up drains the putt two birdies in a row we’re up two we fall apart we fall apart Robin Ventura puts a puts a a shot on the next hole within about six feet they make birdie we go to the final hole okay we’re up two holes to one uh we’re playing a short driveable Par Four all three of us hit great drives we’re all right up there around the green we’ve got options Oklahoma State maner dead to the left uh Desmond Mason hits it in a a greenside bunker Robin Ventura clutch hits a nice nice drive he’s up there kind of in the general area where the rest of us were so it’s a chipping and putting contest all we have to do is tie the hole for the overall win we chip it to within like six feet maybe not even that maybe five feet and we all miss it including Jack Nicholas what I Curtis lips out or maybe Curtis pulled it Dusty lips out I hit I get like the ball’s three quarters in the hole it comes out and comes back to me and and Jack Jack didn’t make it and then we lost in the chip off Oklahoma State wins oh my gosh it was it was like Rory maoy all over again did you feel like we didn’t make fun of Rory that much no I we didn’t I don’t I don’t think we that this isn’t Karma it’s not like we piled on Rory but I’m sorry this happened and I’m sorry that you told the story because I don’t think a lot of people would know the story but you just told thousands and thousands and thousands of people the story I want everyone to know about it and I want all of the pain to come pouring down on top of me like a waterfall is what I want I want to roll around in the misery I Ted layman1 on Twitter if you would like to pile on uh for the blow in the two hole lead that’s where you can you can let Ted might as well tag Dusty in there he’ll like that Dusty will like that and T Curtis we played better than they did I mean it we should not have lost it makes it all I didn’t think we were going to lose until like it happened and it was like it was I can’t explain to you how disappointing that feeling was it was horrible it was horrible what did what did you do when Jack Nicholas missed the putt I at that point after all three of us had missed it I it just I didn’t even I don’t know I didn’t expect him to make it either it was a pretty straightforward putt five feet maybe I don’t think it was short it was probably five feet not outside the hole pretty straight uphill it’s exactly where you wanted to be and we missed it uh what are you going to do ah brutal dude hey you want me to make you feel better really but all indulge yeah it sounds like you were stringing together some good golf shots you could be me swing is just falling off a cliff falling off a cliff dude I don’t it just I cannot I cannot find the center of the club face I just can’t I I I don’t know what’s going on I I have been playing the best golf of My Life about month ago I’ve been getting gaining confidence and dude I just cannot I cannot find it and now I’m thinking about everything is my takeaway in the right place am I getting the club am I coming outside in like what’s going on been hitting it on the hosle a couple times I just want to jump off like I just want to jump in the lake when it happens I I don’t I am I’m in a very bad place mentally with my golf game right now and it’s so frustrating because about about a month ago I felt as good about my golf game as I ever had yeah it’s so you could be me Ted you could be just in a pool of misery when it comes I I’m to the point where I’m just like I’m just grabbing an eight iron and just trying to find the center like just trying to find the PATH trying to find it’s bad man well not in a good spot thing you you are I’ll give you the good news you’re in a you’re to make a major breakthrough because it comes in waves all right it comes in waves and each crest of the wave is higher than the previous and sometimes uh the bottom drops out too and you go further but each peak of the wave is higher than the last and if you were just playing your best golf it’s coming you’re going to pull everything together and the next Peak is going to be higher I’m just telling you that’s how it works we watch the golfers on tour nobody and I mean nobody other than Tigers run do they stay at peak level it wasn’t very long ago we thought John ROM is never going to lose a golf tournament right right it comes in waves Gabe stay at it um I’m sorry you lost but it sounds like you guys played pretty well so it was fun it really was fun it was awesome to meet Jack it was great he was amazing that dude is Switzer like like in his memory they were asking him questions during the press part of it and he was recalling matches he had with people from Oklahoma from in 1950 something he’s like oh I had a I had a putt on 13 is one of the best putts I made in my career like what I I could not have been more excited for our guy Eddie rosovich oh yeah to do all that stuff I mean it had it had to take a lot of mental fortitude for his blood flow to not head somewhere that could have been resulted in an unfortunate situation like other than Tiger Woods I can’t imagine Eddie being any more fared enough to beat someone other than Jack Nicholas so I I was I was really happy for him that looked awesome I will tell you whenever he was standing up there for the little the little uh you know one-on-one interview I couldn’t help but look and just say like this is the this is it for Eddie this is the moment this awesome the Pinnacle there’s only I I would say the white whale is him doing doing something like that but with Tiger Woods like that’s the only way it’s gonna get better for Eddie yep I was fired up for him man 20 I’m sorry Ted that’s the best part about you is I know you’re going to carry that weight and that pain that’s what I love should I say Olympic host City Oklahoma City Oklahoma baby I mean are you kidding me it’s just Dad it’s it’s a massive announcement for the city that when La hosts the 2028 Summer Olympics softball and canoe slalom will take place in the worldclass facilities that already exist in the great City of Oklahoma City I I think it’s a massive deal for the entire State I hope that not it’s not only a big deal for the state of Oklahoma but for some of the states surrounding us we this area of the country doesn’t get a lot of stuff like this yeah man and I’m just I’m really really excited it is I I think it’s one of the it’s going to be one of the coolest Sports things of my lifetimes I mean Oklahoma City’s gonna host the Olympics it’s only two events I don’t care Oklahoma City is hosting the Olympics I never thought that would ever happen yeah it’s going to be awesome uh obviously the softball um I mean this is the place for softball clearly and it’s it’s so awesome and you know the river sports thing I think it’s kind of new like as as a resident in the area I saw it going in and it looks cool I drive past it every day whenever I’m going downtown um I haven’t gone and done it yet but I think it’s going to bring a renewed focus into to what all that is and how big of a deal it is to have all that here and probably I’m guessing generate some more interest from from kids and everyone locally that are I’m sure going to go out there and see it and I don’t know I just I saw the release and I guess I didn’t read through it in detail but I would guess that there’s also going to be some money coming in to make improvements or additions to those both of those facilities right I mean that seems like that’d be the case yeah I I don’t I don’t really know but all I know is City’s hosting in the Olympics yep and there’s going to be an Olympic shirt with the Olympic rings that says OKC underneath it I just how cool is that and I just I understand I saw some of now clearly people around here an overwhelmingly positive response to the news I did see some of the softball athletes Express a little disappointment because I get it part of the Olympic experience is being around other Olympians getting to go to the other vents being in the Olympic Village like I get that but you don’t have to look far all you got to do is look at the Paris Olympics for what the alternative could look like for softball there is no softball in this summer olympics and so while I get some of their frustrations it’s also you’re getting to compete in the Olympics and represent your country so I the bottom line for me is Oklahoma C he stepped up when La didn’t want to and said hey yeah we will we’ll do these we’ll do these events and from some of the conversations that I’ve had the city is determined to do absolutely everything they can to make sure that these athletes and fans have an incredible experience while they’re here in Oklahoma City for the Olympics so I am I I understand some of the frustrations but man I I’m just fired up yeah no I get it but I think it it comes from a place of not really understanding how the Olympics typically work I think when you watch it on television you imagine that it’s all in one area but this is how almost all Olympics are in host countries it spread out all over the place and you you know it the last thing you you want to do because we’ve seen this in years past China I think you saw some of it in Brazil with the World Cup like you don’t want to have to spend tons of public money on these massive venues that are used once and one time only and after that they fall apart and disrepair um you you if you can use existing facilities it’s better and it’s just it’s really typical that this is how it works in in most Olympics you have different sides for different events and I I get the I I understand that you want to be a part of the action but I I guess I don’t know that they’re necessarily I don’t know you’re the main point is you’re right one of the Alternatives is we just we won’t have softball I mean you’re kind of on the edge and you know it’s a growing sport around here so you know that that we want to have it and the United States wants it to continue and I just I don’t know what it’s like in the other countries so I don’t know I guess I’m thrilled though I’m with you I think it’s going to be awesome and awesome for the city and you know with the the makeover that Oklahoma City’s had over the last you know 15 20 years it’s an awesome opportunity to showcase that to the world one other thing just had to be a really really rough day for the you need to move the Women’s College World Series out of Oklahoma City crowd they’re playing the damn Olympics there I know it tough scene tough scene for that crew the in the release that I I don’t know if it was the official release I think it was but it said there the only the largest capacity softball stadium on the west coast not just la like the the entire West Coast is 2,000 seats so crazy I know you’re way over that I don’t know anything about canoe slalom best believe I’m GNA learn I want to be dialed I want to be dialed for canoe slalom in 20 I’m not saying competing don’t look at me that way I mean just learning the sport I it could this could be your sport though can I be the can I become the canoe slom guy am I going to announce the Olympics let’s go you’re going to have to you you going to have to really start immersing yourself now do do we think we’ve got time do we think we can get our guy Chris plank in the play-by-play seat Talk Ted you guys aren’t the only one that’s blown a big lead they were up three 0 on the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final they’ve lost three in a row and man they got absolutely drilled on Friday night 5 to one in Edmond tier Edmonton so game seven stadley Cup Final Monday night and somehow all the pressure is on the floor the Panthers because they’ve lost three in a row that’s not you’re at home if you would have told him before the season hey you have one game at home to win the Stanley Cup of course they’re going to take that of course they would but man that all the pressure is on them because there’s only been one team in history that has blown a 3oh lead in in the Stanley Cup and that goes you got to go all the way back to night 1942 the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs blew a three lead in the Stanley Cup Final I I would not want to be one of the players for them I would not want to be one of those fans those people are going to be on pins and needles man yeah well um I think it’s awesome it’s funny because when they were down 3 0 and they won that game for what was it like 6-1 or something it was something it was a big number Conor McDavid is a he’s incredible it happened at the same time the Celtics lost game for in Dallas and everyone’s like oh my God all for TV the NHL did it too just so they can have an extra game I don’t know if that was the case or not but if it was they shot themselves in the foot because here you go and for me personally I’m sorry but give me Edmonton to come for behind like that uh first time since since 42 they Canada want like if Florida wins it the celebration’s going to be like this okay I mean I’m sure everyone down there the the the Panthers fans are going to be excited but nobody else in the entire United States is going to care if Edmonton pulls this off like there’s going to be it may be a new holiday in Canada I I will push back on no one else but those Panther fans in Florida will care there is a small group of guys I know here in Oklahoma City that a couple years ago for whatever reason adopted the Florida Panthers as their squad yeah get together they do it like and they are they’re all in man and it’s it’s hilarious but enough guys to flip a car or two downtown uh they could try couple of them big guys all right so I do is it anti-American to cheer for Edmonton or does that not apply here I don’t think it applies this isn’t a USA vers Canada situation like I felt I feel like if you’re a Toronto Raptors fan it’s the same right so I yeah I I think for hockey for the NHL it would be best if Edmonton won yeah probably well it it it’s Canadian a Canadian team hasn’t won in forever and I mean you got stars in McDavid and dry cidal like big names I don’t know it just feels like it would bring more attention to the NHL which you never have too much attention if you’re a professional sports League yeah no I’m I’m with you I I think it’s it’s obviously awesome for hockey I mean that’s it’s a good deal for them to to have a pivotal Moment Like This and these type of games and these type of situations is how you end up drawing a bunch of outside eyes that typically don’t watch the sport and you never know who might latch on and become a fan what are you made of Florida Panthers can you get off the mat and win game seven a lot of people are comparing this to the Oklahoma Celebrity Golf teams meltdown being up 20 with time the wound will heal Ted yeah I was wondering what I heard a couple people yelling about the 42 Maple Leaves I was wondering what they were talking about now it all come makes sense it all it’s all coming together you’re just like the Maple Leafs in 42 what what did that guy say
