what’s up guys Lou here for golf Avenue did you know that our cobra video is our most popular to date that’s all thanks to you guys for watching at home to thank you we’ve decided to set up another comparison video this time we’re taking on one of the biggest brands in the game Callaway as usual we’ll start out by picking the clubs in the bins right behind me we’ll head on over to the tagman pirate simulator at the office to test out their clubs and once that is done we’ll come back right behind this desk to analyze the performance of all the clubs and finally answer the question how do older clubs measure up against new ones with that being said are you guys ready let’s go pick up our clubs our first Club the Paradigm Triple Diamond so the triple diamond designation is C designation for lower spinning models it’s also a 2023 release and it has this unique blue and chish look for second Club we’re getting the Callaway Rogue St Max Triple Diamond this one’s a 2022 release a bit different than the Paradigm it’s got the black and gold ptin for a nice package at address for our third Club we’re going with one of my favorites the Callaway epic Max LS it’s not a Diamond but it has the ls designation for low spin it was a 2021 release from Callaway you see the adjustable weight here at the back of the club head and you see the jailbreak technology here under the club head which is very noticeable our fourth Club is the callway Maverick Subzero released in 2020 the Subzero is Call’s former designation for low spin models before it changed to LS and then Triple Diamond it was the first Club where CWI really showed his willingness to explore with colors and we really have to say that they didn’t miss the mark with that one our fifth driver is the Callaway epic flash Subzero released in 2019 it’s a return to the classic green and yellow line colors from Callaway and it’s also a return of the adjustable sliding weight that we saw from the previous model that we looked at earlier the Epic Max LS all right let’s look at our last Club the Callaway Rogue Subzero released in 2018 it is very different in terms of look from the other Rog driver that we looked at but it’s still good looking nonetheless so that rounds up all the clubs that we need for experiment now it’s time to head on over to our trackman powered simulator at the office and test out those clubs on the simulator while I’m setting up for our test let’s quickly discuss what stats we’ll be keeping an eye on first off we’ll really focus on both carry and total distance for our drivers and we also give a lot of attention to the spin rates we’ll be using a Mitsubishi tensi AV series blue shaft with all of our drivers since C has made the smart decision of keeping a loft sleeve adapter the same for years already also all of our clubs are set in the 8 or 8.5 degree love setting so enough shouting and let’s get to testing all right guys we just got done with our test we’re going to head on over to SC right now we’re going to take a closer look at all the numbers from all the clubs compare them see all the older ones measure up to the new ones and we’re going to answer the questions how do older clubs compare to brand new one so let’s get on over take a closer look at those numbers cuz I’m thinking they might be more surprising to you so let’s go all right guys we’re back at EFC it’s time to take a closer look at the performance of all our drivers that we have right here how our clubs are doing I’ll show you the graphics right at home the first thing you notice when you look at this chart is the carry distance discrepancy between the longest and the shortest Club it’s really not that massive it’s about a 7 yard range range between the epic flash Subzero which was our longest club and the CWI Maverick which was our shortest carry distance Club 7 is definitely considerable but it’s not that massive when you sometimes consider the difference in prices that you may have between the longer club and the shest club in this case the longer Club is not that recent and the shorter one is a little more recent but only year so the difference in distance is free strike the second thing you might notice are the really low thin rates level and that we expected cuz all the models we use are low spin variations of these specific driver models but the epic flash did surprise us with a very very low spin level and it was consistently very low lastly the thing that might not be as obvious to everyone I gave my best swing instead of Rogue Subzero to see just how far I could push it and despite that the higher ball speed levels still ended up being with the Paradigm Triple Diamond driver just cuz it’s so recent and the club face is so hot at impact really a great choice if you need a little more speed at impact especially off the team as we mentioned earlier in this video some of the results will be surprising to you and they were even surprising to us most surprising was to see a 5-year-old driver come out on top but let’s look at the complete distance ranking to give us a better idea of why it ended up being so good so when looking at our distance charts the first thing we’ll notice is that the epic flash from 2019 outrank the Paradigm Triple Diamond which was released last year the other thing you might notice that the rankings for carry distance and total distance are also identical one of the most interesting things to us in this whole experiment was to see the low dispersion in distance especially the range in distance between the longer club and the shorter one we’re talking about only s yard which is really surprising considering that Brands like Callaway like to advertise that you gain more distance every year so maybe there’s something to know about older clubs performing just as well as brand new ones but we’re going to keep looking at other stats to just see how well these older clubs can compare to brand new ones don’t get us wrong an extra seven yard of the te is always a plus but the fact is you still need to spend 200 or $300 more dollars to get an extra seven yard the question you need to ask yourself is do you have the budget for it and is it really worth your money the data we’ve looked at so far suggest that on unless you really want to push your limits then in those extra box might not be worth your while really but now that we’ve got distance covered it’s time to look at spin rates and see just how much impact the performance of our drivers in my opinion spin rates were probably the most interesting data point that we looked at in today’s test spin rates play a key role when it comes to your driver’s performance and this is all the more true when it comes to your total distance take the Rogas T Max Triple Diamond as an example despite the triple diamond being a low spin variation the Rogue SD Max was designed to help enhance launch condition and launch the ball with more ease impact you should expect low spin rates from this club and it did deliver in fact the rusy max along with the Mavericks were the only two Club to break the 200000 RPM spin rate Mark with that being said it’s probably why both clubs rank in the bottom half in terms of carrying total distance just because their spin rate probably had such an impact on her performance while in today’s case the distance discrepancy is not massive with someone who swings the club a little faster than I do it would probably become even more of an impact on to your roll out and also your carry distance while the ball is in the air all the other clubs managed to stay under the 20 RPM Mark which is personally what I would expect out of a low spin driver low spin models give you a nice piercing trajectory that is more likely to roll out once the ball hit the ground with that being said discrepancy in terms of spin rate levels between all these Club was not massive but it still probably played a key role and probably took maybe one or two yards away in terms of total distance and carry distance from the clubs with higher spin levels especially so that wraps it up for a look at the spin rates level rankings now it’s time to take a closer look at the difference in performance between our most recent model the paradig triple diamond and our older model the original Rogue release in 2018 to really compare those two drivers let’s take a closer look at the chart that we’ve prepared we have them side by side their performance so so you see there’s a few discrepancies but they’re very minimal especially when you consider those clubs came out 5 years apart the first thing you might notice is the ever so slightly advantage that the Paradigm has over the Rogue and that’s really surprising considering paradig has five more years of Innovations contained inside this club Ed and there’s no denying it I gave my best swings to the Rog overall had the best average in terms of Club speed of all the clubs I tried out today but despite this the Paradigm still outshine them in terms of Club speed just cuz the club face of the club is so hot at impact and the ball just flies off the club face personally I didn’t really like the feel of the parad off the club face but I could tell that every single time the ball was just coming right off of it and flying right into the air used golf clubs especially older models up to 5 or 6 years old can certainly match a performance of brand new models or models that are may be a year old now that we’ve tested all our models analyzed their performance compared them against one another there’s only one more thing for us left to do and is to answer the question we posed at the start of this video how do older models compare against newer ones or more recent models based on the results that we got today it’s pretty evident that when it comes to the average golfer models from five or six years ago can definitely suit your game and even match the performance of the more recent model when they’re in your hands there’s no need to ruin yourself to get your hands on the latest models on the market look for models from five or 6 years ago and you’ll get very similar almost identical performance for a fraction of the price you would have paid with that being said for the sake of transparency we’ll also say that if you’re one
