so in today’s video we’re going to talk very much about the illusion of the golf swing and when I first start working with golfers they always have a very similar idea of the golf swing they think they’re supposed to really sort of turn in the back swing lift their arms and then bring their arms down and turn on the way through and actually once they get the opportunity to spend some time working with them they really start to understand the important things inside the golf swing and what I always would say and golfers end up concurring with is actually how Compact and short the golf swing actually needs needs to be the reason for this the first thing we need to understand is tilts okay so if I put this golf club across my this golf club this alignment thick across my shoulders here and I sort of just turn standing up straight this is known as a separation but when we do a separation when we’re in posture it starts to produce tilting motions so the first thing that has to happen is when I initiate this early back swing position I need to move my hands my arms and my upper body first and this produces this tilt now once I’ve produced this tilt if I now continue to rotate wi I keep my head still you’ll notice the way my shoulders have again become tilted now the reason why this is important is because your Trail arm functionality is massive and most people tend to get this Trail alarm function really wrong and they get really disconnected and the reason why is cuz most golfers turn really flat so if I turn like this really flat that’s where my arms would be located so you have to lift your arms up to compensate so what I would say as a really good way to to sort of understand and to practice this is to do some swings where take the club back to about hip high first and foremost and make sure that your Trail arm is along the seam of your shirt and make sure you’ve kept your head still now what you should now notice is if you continue to rotate keeping your head still you’ll notice the way that your shoulders are rotating around a tilt and you should notice the way your right shoulder goes up in the air so your hands become elevated due to the rotation around the Tilt and see where I am look out easy it is from here to just pull my arms back into position as opposed to let’s say I turn a bit like this and like this look how much I’ve got to do in the downswing position now the chance of me being able to get this club back into position is really unlikely so what often happens with golfers is they’re very surprised by how short the swing feels both from an arm perspective so you want to make sure this upper arm feels like it stays very connected to the side of your body and the reason why your hands end up getting elevated is very much due to the rotation around this tilt you got start getting yourself into this type of position then like I said it’s going to be easy to pull that left hip back straighten that arm through that plain line and start releasing that club so work on it work on that upper arm in contact with the seam of that shirt from here keep your head still as you continue to rotate and like I say from here it’s going to be easy to just straighten that arm down as you swing through and that’s the illusion of the Swing I’ll see you soon
