I think the highlight of the day for me when the it got the juiciest was the 12th hole when morala I thought hit such an incredible shot I mean just this perfect little squeezy floaty seven iron to 25 feet and then Scotty gets up there after watching that and hits the most psychotic shot I’ve ever seen this is a psycho shot he hit the same shot except he aimed at the pin and no problems hit exactly the number hit it to 8 feet of course Colin makes the Putt and Scotty misses which turned out uh to make it some really good golf driving down the stretch because it really pulled in to a one shot Advantage for Scotty but what I I I Can’t Describe to you how difficult that 12th hole is when they put the whole location over there this green is only about eight steps from front to back as far as shess goes like across the green the greens are literally rock hard and these guys are hitting seven iron over a pond into a a wind that you know is there that you not sure if it’s there and these both of these guys get up there and hit their numbers just I I just want to commend Colin and Scotty and their ability to play with such feel and skill at such a high level and high leverage moments and I’ve been I wouldn’t say critical of Colin but more or just show me like just show me that you’re calling again and that shot and all the I think even just he’s continues to bank more and more shots and I’m just like man this guy’s he’s he’s all the way back that shot to me was like okay Colin moral is back and then we already know Scotty like doing what he did was not surprising at all just was like you’re taking crazy pills you’re crazy well I mean kind to your point of of of something you said earlier of like this was you know close to a US Open test firm greens you know a lot of demanding shots and it was it was a true test of like who are the best ball trackers in the field this week and and you know I think it was said on the broadcast as well Scotty and Colin are two of the best out there um you know it was interesting Victor havin was right there until he played poorly on the weekend but this you know he won here last year and it really separates the guys who are just flushing the golf ball from the guys who just aren’t cuz you’re going to get you know penalized for it a ton out here if if you’re not you know hitting it well um and so I thought that was a cool sort of test to see uh and and Colin I feel like is we’re almost he he’s already won Majors so it’s less of the you know clutch Gene question that we were asking about Xander maybe a couple weeks ago before he wins the PGA but it’s like we’re almost like re-entering that territory where he’s been there in every big turn basically every big tournament this year and he’s so close and it’s like what’s it going to take to get it over the hump and I thought he puted it pretty well you know on on on Sunday you know especially in contention made some big putts there were a couple that he probably would have liked to have back but it was less that it was more of like you know if you have the chip back at 16 you you hit that a little tighter and and then maybe you know you’re in tight Scotty thinks you’re going to make a par and all of a sudden instead of getting a read off you he’s got to make a nervy long putt to to St you know to to hold the lead you know maybe it looks a little different you know in that sort of finish yeah I’ve just kind of charting the last couple years with Colin too and we’ve we’ve had periods in which Colin struggled with the putter he and he’s tried different grips and he’s settled in with the saw grip and it looks really good now and it’s carried him at the beginning part of this year Charlie you’ve kind of noted that as well um is that his his putter was kind of bringing along his ball striking and then let’s take it all the way back to the century uh two years ago where he has that lead on the easiest stretch of the golf course at capalo and and and chips and chili chunks his way in short games himself out of the golf tournament John ROM goes on and wins so we we’ve got this couple year period of a sample size of the putter being off the chipping kind of leading and it’s very difficult to chip a cap was super super grainy and if your if your motor pattern is off at all like you’re you’re like oh gosh how do I make good contact and we’ve seen his iron game like not be elite elite like we’ve seen at the beginning part of his career and the driver you know he’s always kind of Drive driven to good but with all that to say is talking with Mark Blackburn about Colin and this was the week after Colin and Mark had split and Mark said something very interesting about Colin and it was that this guy’s mental game is off the charts just off the charts and there’s a reason why he’s already won multiple majors and we’ve we could talk about his his game and his skill all we want but his his ability to be mentally strong and I think we kind of just talked a little bit about um you know Xander getting over the hump and and you were just kind of referencing a little bit about how Colin it’s like what’s going to be the Breakthrough I I think mentally Colin is there like Colin is that’s never left him he’s a about it’s kind of like that stupid confidence that players always have even when they’re off like they’re they’re never going to lose that I don’t think Collins ever lost that he’s won in in stretches like in Zozo for instance where he’s hasn’t been playing his best golf and goes out and wins so he’s he’s never lost that and I think that’s what’s been the most impressive thing about him in the year that he’s had and just continues to be consistent a

I'm thinking Charlie should've saved his pick for this week…
Have loved seeing him contend all season. He's back and still trending
