today we are going to compare the Ping g430 iron against the tailor made Qi iron so both clubs are in this category of a cavity back Club somebody looking for distance someone looking for forgiveness uh today we are going to compare the two if we’re starting off with looks you know from this kind of behind position for me that tailor made looks a lot better the Ping kind of has that I wouldn’t say it’s ugly from behind but for me the the tailor made just looks that little bit classy a little bit neater there uh with that sort of new black finish however in the playing position it’s it’s quite different you know I much prefer the ping you know looking down at that I think ping have done a great job uh in recent years in just kind of trimming down that kind of Top Line not making it quite as thick and ugly um and they’ve done a great job there in that sort of playing position um tailor maid is a little bit on the chunky side for me uh however if you are in this category you’re looking for that help then it might be for you so we’re going to hit 10 shots with each club today so give us a really good average H give you my honest opinion my honest feedback on which club might suit you best okay so k key things looking at distance and forgiveness so kicking off with this ping um they have made some really good upgrades from from the g425 uh in particular trying to improve the sound uh the last iron was a little bit loud and this is a lot better so let’s let’s hit 10 shots one thing I must say is that there’s one degree loft of difference okay so 29° with the Ping 28 with the tailor [Applause] [Music] made yeah definitely done a great job in terms of a you know a sound point of [Applause] view just feels really solid distance-wise we’re looking at in and around 180 yards carry um not seeing a major drop off there uh I think that one was 171 but not seeing a major drop off in terms of the slight offc Center hits and again the the the big thing to talk about this pure Flex badge uh which is their way of increasing ball speed and also increasing that forgiveness as well the seven flexing [Music] zones okay so that’s 10 shots there with the the Ping g430 and it was so consistent so forgiving felt fantastic um definitely something that we should be looking at uh because that overall forgiveness um is for me has has has done a really nice job okay so into this T make Qi iron I think I think they’ve done a great job in terms of this kind of profile at the back uh I love this kind of black finish um looks really classy really neat uh nice upgrade on the on the Stealth Iron from the previous generation and in that play position for my eye is a bit thick um but you know as I have said that you know it is partly you know down to the the type of club and it is slightly offset as well so Taylor May believe that most guys in this category would generally slice the ball um so they have built in uh the technology that’s going to help you just kind of hit it a little bit further left H to stop that that sort of right Miss so let’s again let’s hit 10 shots let’s let’s try and compare some of the [Music] numbers you can certainly feel that speed off the face straight away yeah it definitely feels a lot hotter than the uh than the Ping but also you can see it veering a bit left as well so that’s quite interesting I never really got that with the Ping and again as I always say it is down to you you know what is the most important thing for your game are you looking for the field the distance dispersion are you perhaps looking for this this iron that’s maybe just encourage a slight draw okay so that’s 10 shots there with the QI and it was so different to that ping I must admit uh it felt very very powerful um however generally it was turning over to the left so as they’ve said to get rid of that slice I’m seeing that in my game where that’s actually turning over probably more than I’d like Okay so let’s now take a initial look at the dispersion okay so into the dispersion there’s there’s definitely a sort of clear pattern for the two isn’t there um you know tailor made is longer and favoring the left um ping is shorter but you know you have got two maybe three shots certainly Two Shots flaring out to the right there so dispersion there’s not a lot in it you could argue tailor maid’s perhaps edging it a touch but it is a is a close call but there’s definitely a a bias to the left uh with the tailor made and marginally right uh with the Ping now into these sort of key averages here so we’ve got the the QI at the top um and obviously the g430 at the bottom Club speed marginally quicker with the tailor made wasn’t consciously swinging it quicker uh but the ball speed quite a big difference there you know 12.8 to 123. 7 again bear in mind that one degree LOF but one degree wouldn’t generally produce 3 m hour extra so there’s definitely the tech in the in the QI that’s giving us that speed and you can see there I was hitting it quite similar with the smash 141 to 142 no sbly launching it lower with the tailor made again this is important uh they do have the HL version uh which you know is an option uh but it is launching lower and spinning a lot lower so with that increased distance uh with that with that increased speed off the face comes a lower launch and a a lower spin so that is important to to notice uh and then that’s obviously giving you that lower height 79 feet to 992 feet uh and then yes big difference in the carry there one 78 with the Ping and 18 188 with the tailor made um so very interesting if I was going all out for distance then it’s definitely the the QI iron from tailor maid is doing a great job for that but if I was going for looks and feel then I would be going for the Ping g430 so it’s up
