little you he way been faking me out can make you happy now so thank you mate yeah I been trying to do this for a while I’m excited and you know what we’ve come to somewhere very special to Justin this is your childhood golf course it is thank you so much for giving me a good chance or a good reason to come back and play it I mean uh northand Golf Club in Fleet um obviously yeah just being back I mean listen it’s a club that’s been so good to me and I do come back on occasion but more just to catch up with some of the guys and have a pint or stuff like that but actually haven’t played the course in quite a while so I’m excited I’m I’m I’m excited to see what you do around this golf course today we’re going to play after the B it’s around 6,700 yards past 70 um I’m guessing you’ve got the course record probably not anymore um the old course record because you know we had there were some sort of quite big changes to the course in the in sort of the recent history you know holes number two three and four have changed quite a bit so back in the day when I was a junior it was a par 69 so um it was a tough little par 69 but um you know par 69 are always quite cool you know you kind of definitely flattered the scorecard and uh um I guess my most famous round round here the one I remember most as my course record was uh Hamshire hog which is one of the elite sort of amateur events in the in the area and shot a second round 65 age 14 to to sort of Nick the trophy so that was probably my favorite round that I’ve ever played here like a proper amate tournament where you had to shoot a number you went out out there and shot 65 and won it yeah as a local kid obviously dragging a few members around with me watching my brother was caddying and yeah it just one of those special days I’ll always remember and we still have photographs of that of that day sort of buzzing around and uh yeah well who know this might be a new Contra today this could be a new cont not for me for this man the rules are simple I sh I start 10 under par Justin starts level par 18 hole stroke play I’ve yet to win one yet and I’ve played some big names this also is a huge name major winner Olympic gold medalist let’s get out there rip it up with Justin Rose here at North H Golf Club do you want to have the honor I think you know guest first go and pick what number okay um you are playing a you’re starting with a one got a number with two okay you’re on it okay you want me to go I’ll let you go all right Rick have fun play well enjoy so the first hole here cracking first hole 215 yards par three today playing 21 yards pins in the middle right hand side there’s a bunker right couple of bunkers left just got a thread the needle it’s a little bit out the right but should be good for distance okay little early pressure little bit of early pressure short game Justin’s talking about pressure there this this is where the heart starts racing right now you don’t get many times where you’re trying to rip a for iron on the first hole travel travel he trying to draw Rick pretty solid hit mate bunker I think oh it’s a good hit just slightly to the right I think we found bunker right off cracking first hole really yeah nice quite nicely bunkered you know they they they did do a bit of a bunker program I don’t know maybe 10 years ago I’ve heard they’re going to redo some of them as well coming up but quite nice lips on the bunkers of stand up yeah it’s quite nice you know I think it’s always a good sign when it’s like you can really see the sand nothing’s hidden yeah um you were saying this used to be a short part four yeah it used to be sort of like 280 Yard part four so again like one where you could hit a good t- shot sort same type of feeling hole like under pressure off the beginning because it’s a hole you even though it’s a power four you really wanted to take advantage of it and I bet you’re still hitting a long iron going it was it was driver in the winter or in the wet and then it became three wood and stuff oh hello what’s the rules here are we like in the you must we must be in the [Laughter] danger is that what this button for yeah more hassle than they’re worth these things aren’t they well I think we both found the Trap okay just you know keeping my eye on you early staying you know what they say keep your friends close your enemies closer both found the bunker here on number one reckon we both had the right Club yeah did you hit four IR I hit four yeah I hit four as well just puff into the breeze wasn’t it I think mine’s just this one on the left okay furthest rakes that’s fair but it’s been a while since you last rate a bunker got a nice line in this bunker just need to Splash it out nothing too crazy that’s good shot that’ll work a little bit heavy but it’ll work bit of a fat and run oh it’s very good I had the rake in my hand say what though you asked the question no you played a great shot there thing is you were looking to hold yours I was just looking at getting mine out I love the way you think we think so positively I was thinking don’t knife it across the green we don’t want to drop any shots early little down the hill not a lot of break in it do a little bit a point you’ve work on do I’m not religious feeling I’m not as religious enough with it yet yeah yeah yeah yeah and certainly when you start gauging how far to you know actually to aim with the finger I think you do have to be almost religious with it and almost do it every single time don’t you for sure keep training it nice little confidence booster on the first nice well done nice down thank you very nice two good up and downs yeah good starts match a good start to this match it’s actually nice it was always my favorite time of year actually when the road to dendrons come out as well they just like when we played the PGA Championship in May yeah it was always quite a nice Wentworth would be yeah blooming old yeah which is it’s nice to see it like that good start pal mhm hold on gets the nerves away a little bit yeah definitely I mean good your part was tricky it was downhill green little bobbly quick and bobbly so not definitely not easy around the cup making those yeah they’ve got to they’ve got to be right in the heart of it so these are you saying these next three quite new holes yes green used to go way up further so see the other T box there’s two greens you can see one that we’re going to play to behind the oak trees used to go way up into the corner almost where that bush is wow still a par four yeah still a par four was a really good one I’m guessing the T was a bit further forward was it it was a four it was like 460 470 hole it was a good one nice actually I saw on the next hole there’s a little green on the right was that then a short Par Four yeah exactly okay second hole 433 yd Par Four it’s like dog leg left a couple of bunkers down there to catch you out hopefully me and Justin avoid them it’s long enough it’s really good go kick out yeah just in the first bit of rough yeah not as long as I used to be when I was 14 okay so just over that bunker is the line for me be good nice I mean he like calling his shots and everything amazing good hold on mate thanks far plane 145 145 now that pin is a little shelf on that back of that it’s on that shelf so ideally getting it back there is the plan I’m just having a weird moment here you’re missing the club yeah you are missing the club missing a nine9 interesting you it again 10 that’s hilarious I’m just trying to think when I I mean hit a couple balls last night it weren’t worth but I don’t think all right we’ll figure it out what do you want to do you want to hit mine or you prefer to hit an eight on that wed of yours yeah I’ll make it work did I get the flyer yeah I think that’s nice you know if it’s hung on I think that’s nicely on the back TI you okay you go with eight in the end I guess I wait I got I took a chance with a jumper on the wedge nice okay 145 Ys pins back left it’s a nice n iron uh that back that pin is right on that back shelf so getting back there is is the key wind oh it’s a big Miss pulled it left the ball’s a bit above my feet and I thought it was going to draw but not that much not my uh not my finest shot there into screen only just missed and then kick down here into the little runoff area um just a bit of a snaggly lie so I’m going to kind of run it in low and not be too aggressive on it oh that’s run out too hot a rick smashed it missed missed my slopes absolutely nailed it ah was a 9 just trying to get get going forward not my favorite shot in the world but when it’s certainly when it’s a bit of a snaggly lie still on me pal yeah yeah I know the grass is growing at you a bit wasn’t it it’s not my it’s definitely not my favorite no it wouldn’t have been mine either don’t worry would you you’ve played much more L there though would you um probably yeah i’ probably be looking in The Fringe somewhere and okay powerport way longer than it should be after that good drive little bit tentative go yeah always difficult coming might get get quick kind of was a bit py with it but I must have been after the hole it definitely runs away I think it could get away yeah okay you said saely in for par considering you didn’t have the right Club you made it work okay for bogy not much in this okay yeah dropped a shot that was a a silly one from a good drive as well but yeah you were in the prime positionen you A1 position I go nine drop one 9 under Justin’s level par par five coming up next so very getable one yeah I feel like um one over through two not horrendous around here two two fairly tricky holes exactly okay third hole power five um just need to there’s a bunker on the left hand side just to the right corner of that and then the hole runs down there a big water has on on the right but if you hit a good drive you’re really 220 230 yards in just it might even be much less than that from my limited knowledge of playing this Golf Course once that’s that’s good from my limited knowledge of what it used to be like it all feels yeah that’s that was hit well should be good y good swing yeah that should be good okay after a decent enough drive here on three I’ve just put mine just in this little bit of semi-rough similar line to Justin Justin’s just ran into a little bit of thicker stuff I’m 217 yards away as you can see we’ve got this water hazard with a loads of little ducklings we don’t want to we don’t want any horrible accidents so let’s strike a good three iron get it as close to the green as we can get lucky hop skip jump go go yeah not bad bit skinny but we got away with it um I don’t know the the later wasn’t working but Rick’s 217 back there I reckon 205 is working I think I’ve it’s a brand new on I’ve got to take off the you know no 99 no laser working going to say 204 playing two R too okay so I’m thinking this is a slow lie open up the FL oh that’s really really good from that lie go in the hole oh oh wow came out just perfect that’s ah thanks brother take that that’s incredible that’s incredible how that horrible snaggy lie what was that 4 4 with a bit of an open face on it yeah yeah so obviously the old hole like you can see the old green we were right by it with our drives that was a driveable power yeah and we were always like this Lake was always like beautiful behind you always like wish there was a way to make it was even cuz I thought then that would have been a PA three today yeah no this didn’t exist this screen there was nothing in this whole area so it was actually quite nice one of the upsides was being able to bring of course at least this bit of water into play you know it would have been quite nice if it was a bit more in play it’s a bit of a it’s like well not in play for you but it’ll be in play for many true cly playing it all cuz that’s not an easy layup Nole you got come around but what a great shot of you then bloody hell you got you’ve got a three-footer for Eagle coming up that help get the score cards going it just let’s so if I can uh at least get up and down and see if I can I’m just going to take us wide cuz I think the old golf cart might uh bark at us that’s all right you good here a and with a wedge is it going to check isn’t going to you know is it going to Skid that’s the thing this morning as well there’s a little bit of moisture still on the golf course so the the the chipping gets skiddy of course it does okay just didn’t hit an unbelievable golf shot there just had a closer look of how close it is and it’s like 3ot away a kicking Eagle opportunity I’ve come here to the front of the green I’m going to put it we need to get up and down once it goes on the green it’s going to fall to the right that falling that’s well done yeah we’ll take that looking good at saving the old kids lives there mate great shot thank you it’s not the sexy one but it’s does a job still takes commitment though doesn’t it I just I just honestly the I could hit 100 puts from there and I and I know I’m going to hit the green every time and I know it’s going to be somewhere within 10 foot really right Eagle to get to 200p after an incredible forarm from the top of that Hill smizing right to left I believe yes had to make ADV had to take advantage of that that was so good cheers mate so good well done mate great e come on mate knock it in back to even P or back to Tander sorry and you know what though I do actually think sometimes I’ve gone into these matches with that mentality I’m 10 under yeah and almost bit like flipping oh it’s only a double b doesn’t matter got loads to play with yeah where I do I’m actually I’m trying to play a little bit more today no I’m I’m one over and I want to get back to level not much in this be tough for me yeah good work nice that’s just three on through the hole take those yeah that’s very nice I think um good hole to take advantage of today if you look at that back right pin that’d be a pretty tough hole really hard so yeah we’ve done well on that pin placement to make yeah very good take advantage nice work right Justin’s two under I’m 10 under eight shots in it right hunt him down that was good okay fourth hole say you said mentioned this used to be a PA three from over there yeah youve not played it that many times at a par four like this not really I mean um I still little unsure exactly the exact lines and where the rough Cuts in but yeah I think the rough Cuts in up all the way to the front left of the green now so I think if we hit a good drive straight at the PIN or to the right hand bunker we’re going to have some type of pitch or wed shot in so the pins up on that back top on that top TI yeah yeah really really good you said at the pin in the bunker I mean that’s that’s going to be right near the front edge of the green yeah I hit that one hit on that one well really good drive okay I could play this a number of different ways I could lay up a bit further back go for the fat part of the Fairway but I’m going to hit driver hit the driver so far so good let’s keep that going stay there yeah a little bit up the right but should be fine so a few obviously the young Juniors and the lads the you know the good golfers on the side here looking forward to the club championships this weekend but they were wondering if I was going to hit potentially iron off this te okay I I could see H yeah for sure um cuz obviously we couldn’t really get the driver all the way up to the pin so there was maybe less Advantage but the mentality of golf now is just send it really yeah it’s really changed on tour very rarely you’ve seen guys hit hit irons off te’s um statistically it seems like there’s a real Advantage just to continue to get just closer to the pin as possible I mean it makes sense certainly if if you’re unbelievable from 100 yards in in and that’s what the lads are send it as far as you can down there you know and if you catch a bad line in the rough the mentality is well just get it to 15 20 ft anyway so and statistically okay you know you can hit it to 2 ft from 120 yards but the chances you know when the when when the pins are cut tight you always giving yourself a two or three yard margin anyway so there’s nine 9 ft do you not do you not sometimes feel like let’s say on certainly tight fast scens if you did hit it a long way down there there’s sometimes a risk of not being able to create enough spin I think when pins are tight yeah and over bunkers and that’s why the only thing that can really stop us scoring super low is firm greens because then angles become everything yeah because it you know somewhere like a a Bay Hill I played it a couple of times recently and I find that I played it in tournament condition a few weeks out tournament condition the rough’s juicy and th if you miss the Fairway you’re danger and trying to hit any shot into those greens not on the fairways so hard 100% I mean and that’s where you got respect from p pins or tight pins or playing to 20 ft a good shot and uh that’s the type of golf I love to be honest with you because it really takes that’s where course management comes in yeah and um not compounding your mistakes and yeah I’ve got I’ve got a tricky little shot I think I’ve got a tricky shot too this pin this pin and this green is uh is tough I don’t know I can’t see yours yet I’m not sure if you might I’m in the bunker I think maybe I was the play got a tricky one here I’m 60 yards away from the pin I can’t really go super aerial cuz this tree is just overhanging the pin the bunker just short I don’t if I don’t if just playing buy to the fat part of the green there on the left and it’s not an easy to put from there is it yeah I know cuz if you do play well I’m not going to tell you too well I don’t want to get in your head not that I want to tell you too much I don’t want to plant anything in your head I just don’t think I can get enough Loft I don’t this tree if I was here I can just I can get enough Loft here this tree is just overhanging a bit too a bit too much I thought you got plenty of Loft about your game Rick lack of talent lack of effing Talent I’ve got that in abundance no you that was on a teg that one okay we have to play something a bit lower I’m going to I’m going to try and use the Contours of that bunker a little bit and just see if I can somehow get it running up that hill see it oh that’s Criminal terrible [Applause] mistake just came out way too hot that was what I was kind of was potentially going to mention to you like the problem with playing towards the fat part or or if you played left of the pin and try to get up there the risk was it was going to swoop into the TR everything was swinging that way so you were just trying to play fat side I was trying to play you see where that little lip is on the front of the bunker yeah and just almost get risky yeah so risky tough shot mate really tough go go yeah nice effort thanks yeah got a bit unlucky to be fair but nice just checked is it yeah it just hit slightly on that up slope after I don’t know just being in very tricky spot under that tree it’s not the outcome I wanted obviously putting the bunker but let’s see if we can Splash this one out it’s not a load of green to work with I’ve got to land this fairly close to the flag very difficult everything was running away yeah was tough couldn’t get the elevation and get it to stop quick enough bunkers are relatively firm as well under underneath aren’t they yeah hard to get very high I think just everything was running away this is not hold I should have this length of powerp put fairly straight up the hill just got to get the speed right whoa whoa whoa whoa the risk was it was nearly still on me Rush of Blood there annoyingly for a bird they have to go an eagle on the last to get to 3 under slightly left to right maybe on this just yes thank you very good thank you thank you wow you making this look very easy 3 under three four taking advantage of the right holes anyway okay this needs to drop come on Rick it’s well hold good part thank you definitely needed couldn’t be giving away a silly double bogey from there no right nine under Place three under very good right then Justin you know these holes now tell us about this one yeah just a really nice um really nice good PA four I mean I I used to remember hitting a good drive and covering this first bunker on the right yeah you know what I mean like I us every every few years you got to the next bunker exactly there there’s plenty of options so I’m feeling these days that I need to hit it up the cut line the right hand bunker may or may not be in play the furthest one and then I’ve just got to keep it obviously like I said just a little bit up that uh up the cut line so that’s the plan coming a bit with the wind it’s helping it yeah yeah right on the edge of the Fairway it wasn’t as bad as I thought like you said the wind just I think it was helping held it up okay it’s like Justin said right on that middle stripe of the Fairway pretty middle stripe come on zoom in on that go middle stripe that’s well done they’re the ones we like to see they said white was at the back didn’t they um I think it was red red yellow yeah correct yeah some of the some of those early pins hadn’t changed but these have now feel like they used to be a lot more gors and bits and pieces around here and definitely a lot more Heather I know they took a lot of trees out they were saying yeah this looks way more open to me than I remember okay 178 yards my range find is there if you want to borrow it on the side see if I can get mine working 178 wind helping a tiny bit pins at the back I’m just going to get a nice six iron oh be really good oh that’s pretty mate well done you might have to chase a little bit but yeah what 20 ft short what are you calling yeah if it if it’s chased a bit it’s got a chance that’s a great looking shot just also go a little bit I knew it was going to have to chase a bit but I didn’t realize it it had chased that far okay you H six i h six lovely shot little tight draw okay two nice shots into this hole yeah stroke index two tough you know one of the better holes on the course and the pin’s right at the back so we’ve got two nice looks for birdie here just just just the context by the way this port Justin roses is to go four under through five holes just to put that into context for a second Papa Eagle birdie now he’s got this another good luck 12 15 foot of a bird I’ve really got into reading parts from the side of late almost like this s actually someone said to me you actually read it like a book yeah you know um last week in Dallas the greens were so new and fiddly and um so bit like these are very subtle lots of movement through them and uh you know aim Point stuff sometimes doesn’t work as well when there’s lots of different breaks so I had to get a bit more into what the eyes were seeing is that a bit of a Kenyon thing or um no it just kind of felt like what I it’s more of an instinct thing nice right come on then let’s get back let’s getting two birdies here’ be nice it would as much as I’m playing this guy as much as I’m playing against Justin Rose I absolutely want to beat him I also want to go see him go and shoot like seven or eight L just let me pulled it a hair thought you had it really not feeling a lot in that at all pretty much dead straight up the hill well done nice big big big birdie that a big birdie what on Rick thanks pal I’ve had no power on the scorecard yet I know I did I ped the first actually that’s a lie I ped the first and then since that Bogies or birdies okay six hole part four it’s down the hill you kind of got hit a good drive and then it runs right down the hill opens up much more down there it doesn’t look it from here manag to steal the honor you’re honor your honor let’s see how long it lasts from memory it’s not ideal but it’s fine is it it’s not ideally where I want to hit it but it’s fine yeah solid um I don’t know the lads are saying maybe we’re going have to look for yours I think you I think it’ll be fine but I was just saying like the rule change of now looking for the ball for only 3 minutes versus five I feel like it’s 3 minutes go so quick really fast what are you doing mate you’re looking like I mean do you have a system out of a bush I’m impressed I like what’s going on here I’m recently my my wedge game isn’t brilliant so I was actually over in Ireland a couple weeks ago and I was I was playing Road County Down unbelievable and the first day got washed out okay so I was like right I’m going to be productive in my ti so I went on the Range had my little GC quad and I was like right I’m going to do a wedge Matrix and honestly it might not show it now it’s really helped me yeah no that’s great I mean I’ve it’s really helped me I’m not even that the only thing is I feel like I think there’s too many options okay what’s the little like hurricane sign here uh they’re spinny ones okay and they’re low flighted ones oh that’s cool so i’ I noticed that the spin increased on those kind of like you know when you kind of going full to 3/4 and almost like getting a bit of spin on it nice that’s the plan anyway I’m impressed we’ll see if that’s the case now so I’m 92 yards and J in said I’m in a little Bush um going me go a little 50° shoulder toosh shoulder swing man with a plan yeah I’m just just up this left hand side here on number six just found it could have been worse lie but it obviously could have been better pin’s just at the front I’m not going to entertain that pin too much I’m just going to go to fat part of the green 50° wedge best not hit that bush it will move come out hot oh yeah jump didn’t it you know I think because it was in a bush I think I put extra into it just subconsciously like kind of yeah nice drive Justin thank you this is a green light yeah I mean it’s just it’s like one of those shots that I’ve got so many options you know like where do I land it is sort of what I’m just trying to get get committed to so I’m going to try and land it on the front edge and I think it’s going to go skid skid and a little check is the plan I like it be good that first hop killed you K to be fair I missed my front edge by a few yards didn’t I ah giving him a those are the moments I’ve got to take advantage of okay just ran through here on my second shot into this green just powered it too much um similar to the second hole the grass is just kind of growing into me a little bit and I’m just off the side of the green not really got anything to get over just need to land it just just over that sprinkler head ah not a bad connection just came out of touch hot yeah you played it quite nicely there Rick to be wasn’t horrendous no I mean connection was good yeah just tumbled didn’t it yeah it just came out bit of adrenaline right after just missing that bank and rolling down the hill yeah bit of a longer birdie put than you wanted yeah sort of getting back onto the green you look back up the hill it does run away from you a bit more than you than you think D oh come on thought it might hook on the top I actually didn’t think you’d got it there quite at the first but it did really well good put how am I looking Eric load your room you’re good you’re good yeah easy okay we need a we need a big p dropp in there we don’t want to on a fairly easy hole we don’t want to drop too many shots oh it went that way yeah It’s Tricky one isn’t it I I feel like this whole green should be feeling like it goes the other way right yeah honestly I’ll maybe that’s why my P got to the hole so EAS say it almost went up and then it came back down again it goes back up again where you were looking yeah I H A go put bogey for me PA adjus in 300 900 310 is it that yes 306 from right about there so okay seventh hle power four 422 yards um it’s a good to hold this wind’s helping us a little bit more now there’s a bunker down there about 300 yards So Justin’s going to hit three-wood down there I think I’m still going to hit driver wait what what trees you going for the little U see uh the little Dropout there’s like one little tree that’s in the middle of the U oh okay almost like a w yeah okay end of the path basically as we look at it here oh he’ll do yeah not you’re fine your stri but should be all right into breeze it’s just picking up a little bit this wind makes you think question the the club Choice a little bit even on such a short hole come on keep coming expect it to come back a bit more I was yeah it was it was about sort of 60 yards out the left rough really but it was like a big swing to get out the rough yeah so made it look longer than it was they they’ve made loads of changes there to right there’s a couple of nice things to aim at I mean that big fur tree is a good looking aiming point maybe let the wind touch it really good yeah didn’t see it down but I think it might be the right rough but it was a good really good hit a good hit okay I’m going to go that bunker and just fade it off it Beauty going to carry that bunker yeah nice mate thanks pal yeah just know a few of the guys even one of the junior lad as then that practice move before you tea off yeah what’s that you’ve done it for quite a while I’ve done it for a long time yeah so obviously we all have our tendencies that are always hard to get out of our game and for me like pulling on my left arm which is essentially like a little feeling of over the top essentially so for me I’m trying to always feel like I’m falling forwards my backs side staying back and my chest staying a little bit closed cuz that feels like I can then turn aggressively through the ball if I turn too early in my down swing and early extend I feel like I’ve got no then I’m just like having to flash my hands at the ball whereas I feel like if I’m in my forward bend I feel like the face gets stronger I feel like all these good things happen where I can then TR my turn you’re very passive through impact that’s my plan I’m I’m actually quite handsy through impact naturally naturally so you know these are the types of feels that help just pacify that a little bit so um and the thing about the downswing is you have hundreds of a second it’s like it happen so quick so all of your feels have to be quite exaggerated you know to in order to actually make any change oh you’re in the Fairway oh yeah good nice shot really good shot you too great yeah that was nice actually this a decent carry you know that’s if that’s 290 got be my heart was in my mouth a little bit I was like is that going to quite carry it but yeah just covered it nice little gap wedge just the left of that pin in my head I’m hitting it 110 it birdie bat nine when I played so got a lot of a lot of bad demons on this bat N I just need to squash them play well right four under plays 10 under popping out of there yeah just stalled a bit I didn’t quite get it yeah I was yeah exactly stalled hitting a smooth one but just sto turning okay I’m going to go six iron there a couple of trees there in the back of the green I’m going to aim for oh get off it wind that like top of the fly it really Struck it nicely didn’t you it really moved as well like it got to the top and I thought this is good and it took a bit of a U-turn and then sort of hung in there didn’t keep swooping which I think was down to the quality of the strike I think it was a better hit yeah okay so just come off the side of the green here just heing near little bit of ground on the repair my Ball’s not in it though so I can’t take relief just up onto the green everything’s going to fall to the right what a putt thought I had it was that a cheeky early celebration that was a very very early celebration mate I look so good I really did think I had that then right at the end I thought this that’s going to drop in great part Rick thanks pal so I think I’ve got quite a big break here almost the reverse of yours on seven coming off this uh this tier could be six foot of break in this that’s a great read do it what what is that what is that I don’t know this is my you know this is where the magic happens North hands baby that was absolutely ridiculous gave that honestly that had so much break late as well and then it went all the way around gave it a lap of Honor found yesterday I think with this wind you want to stay right of it or bomb one over it have the legs should have I think I hit that good yeah awesome drive thank you okay I got three whe just down that right side of the Fairway I don’t want to bring that bunker into play with the driver nice tell you what good job we got a kick right you know I you flushed that I did yeah I was a bit like wao get down a bit okay 117 playing 119 I’m actually very very lucky as it got to the bunker it just kick right cuz I smoked that I didn’t think I could reach that bunker with three wood but we’re in a good spot now 117 yards playing 119 pins at the back into Breeze can to 120 yard shot nice little pitching where start it at the flag and if it just drops off to the left I’d be happy with that this should be good sure Rick don’t spin don’t spin Junior are giving you a clap up there it’s just hung G onone cuz I know that it can come right down that bank can’t right no we’re good so I tell you what makes Rick um I think good at golf and what I think all of his subscribers can learn from and obviously it’s a habit you’ve got into by playing golf you know and trying to explain to the audience give them a bit more sort of insight into the shot yeah but the way you talk about the shot you’re giving your brain so many positive things to Anchor off because you’re describing the shot you’re telling and you know your you know your innate ability is then making that happen and I think that’s really important part of the pre-shot routine process that I think I think you spot on yeah I think sometimes what I’m saying verbally and what I’m thinking can be quite different sometimes they’re not matching up where today they feel like they are like sometimes I’m verbally describing that shot but then I’m stood over the ball going what what am I doing here so we’re on a a rare day where the matching up a little bit good I think that’s a great lesson to for everyone to to positive mindset really totally people can just say right I want to hear a little five I’m just H in the middle of the green it’s going to take a couple of bounces and then that’s it at least they’ve got a starting point my mate gets my mates get a bit annoyed with it when I’m when I’m just playing for casual 88 okay I’m going Rick Shields I’m going to say 88 I think pitching that ball you know around on the stick would be good cuz it’s touching to the breeze probably playing six seven yards into the wind 95 I have a 92 yard shot which is my 930 so if I could kind of use that as my starting point yeah just play a positive version of that maybe over hit it a bit spin hard spin yeah I think it’s put the brakes on oh yeah that’s nice now that had some serious action I think I mean you know like what you were saying about your spinny one the one that’s kind of maybe that feeling I had there too like hitting the brakes a bit of the I feel like it certainly helps with that speed at the bottom and also helps with a little bit of Loft as well yeah that was you just got to be careful what you wish for when you say I’m going to do a rick Shields from 88 yards cuz I that could be anything from 150 yards to 20 yards in front of you but no two good shots there making a show of this yeah there’s even some like sexy shards spinning around the car all right then I feel like Justin’s got the capabilities here of going 78 n under now I’m 10 under but we all know what could happen with that I need to make birdies I can’t be letting chances like this slip by little right to left wind’s just going to move it a touch more just outside the hole roll in for birdie that’s great P that was not an easy P thank you it’s that first time into 11 big dog time to 11 well done and that even that even means I’ve never birded a first hole in any of these challenges either on whole 11 too nice but the beer to get to 600 fantastic thank you fantastic well done mate I mean you’re six under through you’re six under through 11 and not sniffing it yeah Bo you fy hell well I mean I wouldn’t if I I’m chipping away I’m chipping away you are really chipping away still five in it now we’ve got a match don’t driver doesn’t suit my eye on this hole for some reason um still five in it with seven holes to play see what happens another necky 3w get away from that trap in it yeah I think it went straight in it that wind seems to be really knocking the ball once it gets to the top of its fight me try and go just just inside these trees on the left oh near killed our cameraman not sure what happened there uhoh yeah got it what the hell it’s going to be hard to get on The Fairway what do you need Rick uh 56 or anything more or just I’m just wondering actually can I can I hack it out to the Fairway I don’t I’m not sure if I can right that was a a disaster t-shot I’m not quite sure what happened there we found it but it’s in some real real real thick stuff that is really thick keep going Rick so far this is my fourth I mean I’m still 225 yards away from the pin uh I’m going to have to get a big massive raking five iron hook I just really don’t think I’ll get over the tree with a five oh that’s actually really good shot keep going on mate give nine out of 10 for that there in four that’s really good thanks I was concerned that that might come out hot and with the wind off the left not be able to get the hook you know I agree really well done come on wind okay so after a very adventurous hole so far we have to get this up and down for a double bogey got three very different options a three-wood a wedge and a putter try three-wood shot again see if it can redeem itself after the t- shot yeah not bad just needed to get over that thicker stuff and we got that put for for double bogey oh that’s the lightful go in just run away from you thought that was going to grab the second bounce both making a bit hard work of this all I mean there’s a world here where you only lose one shot to me potentially there is a world there is a world where that could happen I mean that would be there’s also a world that could lose three yeah lots going on here right is it going to be one or two Drop shots this will be big moment in the match if it’s just one yeah if it’s just one I feel like you’re doing all the right things this will this will a little bit right to left down the hill that’s big that’s massive that is big that might be the greatest dou bog I’ve ever made good grinding oh needed it yeah like I could see bad things happening with a five ey and I mean I felt like you might never finish this hole that could have been horrendous and You’ snuck only one I’ve only snuck one bed that was a I feel between the seventh and that seventh hole in that hole yeah two big big big swings wow I’ve never been happy of walking off with a double bogey I okay 13th HS a half four short one 334 yards uh I’m going to hit three iron put it in the middle of the Fairway hopefully Jr’s hitting driver he’s going for it he’s chasing he’s four back four back with six to play c c cut C cut hold your line yeah just it fell right of that tree you would have gone left of it you might have been struggling I think right of it is fine it’s conscious of trying to create a little bit of an angle the second shot but little snatchy off the top just got she got a pal away in right you come back you try and catch me up straight to that bunker on the right I can’t reach with a three iron oh Rick draw ball if it’s got past those overhanging trees it’s got a chance of getting on I think it’s short of those is it yeah it’s going to be interesting to see if you got over or under or okay this is not ideal I really should have been finding Fairway there with my three iron just pushed it up the right I’m 104 yards away but I’ve got this huge tree in my way and it’s actually as we get closer to the green another huge tree um I’m going to go over over the corner of this tree and see if I can just catch a bit of that front left Edge I don’t think there’s much more I can do oh it just caught the top Branch it just caught the very and then I think that that made it then catch the next tree that you were talking about as well yeah it just that top top top Ranch making this a little bit interesting all of a sudden this is my third shot into this very very straightforward path for if I’m honest with you 55 yards away I’ve just got to avoid that overhanging tree it couldn’t have hit the middle of that Branch anymore that came out so high out of that lie uhoh uhoh we’re suddenly in a lot of trouble all right bit of a hole I’m going have to like chop it out of here steeply should be able to pop it up though and stop maybe a little long but I take it cuz I had to get it out of that lie yeah I mean listen it was all Fairways and greens and smiles and laughs a minute ago suddenly things have gotten a little bit uh a little bit real um I think that’s the thing when you don’t play a lot of golf like the way I saw this hole was hit driver left to create an angle and Rick was trying to hit his three ey and up the right and I think obviously for me all the trouble was up the right hand side of this hole so uh he’s definitely been unlucky as well just catching a few tree limbs but um he’s definitely playing the hole I think up the wrong side of the hole but uh he’s got a grind now for par I mean for for up and down for bogy I believe and I don’t think his schedge plays the strength of his game but um he’s staring long and hard at it but he’s grinding I mean listen at last few times he’s been in trouble I’ve struggled to make any inroads so um he’s a fighter back to back Co I’m making a bit of a hash of this it’s now my fourth shot not even got on the green yet 40 yards away got to get up and down got to It’s just in a little like an old divver almost which isn’t ideal unbelievable pretty good pretty good making hard work of this but if I can hold that we might only be dropping one shot again great word shot bud I’m fighting pal I know I exactly fighting that’s I was just telling the lads back there I said that you know you’re fighting hard and uh doing a those trees on the right um that shot really recovered it which was good right Justin this could really ping a lot of pressure on me here I’ve got mine for bogey you’ve got this for birdie dagger blow I’m gritting my way through this hole oh if you did it yep bang online yeah nicely done right just to lose one again on this hole after chopping it after chopping it in the trees yeah I’m thinking to myself over there when I’m playing my second shot I got a chance for three shot swing but again I mean it’s no gimme but yeah that’s good play two big holes there two big holes feel like those are could have been triple and a double your five three shots back with five to play sounds better than four with six it does it does you I need to stop giving him you right it’s getting tense three in it five left to play 14th those a power four dog leg right down the hill only playing 383 but it’s a cracking hole want to be just right at that cross Jus in fly if it’s hit well could be in might be in my ditch that I hit a miracle shot out of a few years ago I’m going to go with that tree on the left and just cut it back onto the cross bad leader but it’s coming [Music] D they’re both not ideal are they no ah it’s getting shaky Lads it’s getting tense F yeah I uh holes like this are tricky aren’t they I mean you they just tempt you to want to cut the corner with the driver and it’s I just really wonder how I would play this in a you know in a tournament probably like could right into the corner yeah but that’s you know I feel like in some ways though you got like if you’re laying back cuz that Heather really comes in on the left too which is also terrible spot so it’s not easy to see if we got looky you ever see the shot I hit out of this ditch no I haven’t seen this I’ll show you thee on video it’s uh you won’t get away with it now cuz the ditch has grown up a little bit more than when I would when I did it from that ditch but it was uh yeah it was pretty special can’t wait the was actually in exactly the same spot as it is now as well might be in exactly that same ditch is it you’re in this cross ditch was in the one just this one here I’ll show it in a sec mine was right online with I think we’re both in trouble mate no who’s got this is the thickest looking Heather on the course here this isn’t ideal that big tree is right in my way okay we found them both um I’m just doing the roof I’ve got this massive Tree in my way Justin’s actually past that tree and got a in the Heather but actually got a clear a line to the hole ah that tree is right in my way I’m going have to head towards those two bunkers on the left and just hope I miss them a a lot of thought into that and not the execution I wanted I’m going to have to hit down on it quite hard I think um try and get this tumbling Landing just short of the green uh obviously i’ got tree limbs here which is why I need to try to really hit down it and punch it Forward um Heather’s always a bit unpredictable that’s for sure it’s going to work oh it’s working really nicely yeah that’s come out that’s a great shot thank you yeah that’s come out just as I’d maybe hoped as good as it could have done so yeah bit of a hill and then it does drop down to the right feel like I feel like something needs to start happening here now on this b n I’ve really let a lot a lot of drops a lot of shots drop that’s weird really fell off is it yeah I think Pace obviously affected it but it never seem to get up that hill yeah that was a weak a weak put after using the Contours of this bunker nicely yeah got a nice look at birdies this to get this to get to 600 yeah get this is to tie it up this is to tie it up just like that could tie it all up slid in there well done that’s awesome thanks mate very good the fact you had to manipulate a little a TI and work to wonder might yeah exactly might help me cuz maybe that wind was a bit more in cuz your 9on was all over it yeah I thought and I thought it’s okay of Fairway if you smash R that’s what we’re thinking but I think it’s worth pushing it um this hole’s always been a tricky t-shot and I think if you can cover the left bunker I think you’d take it on is key on the next and then a great power for to finish yeah coming back towards the clubhouse nice isn’t it nice finishing hole so I certainly oh God I certainly need to go 444 and that that might just be to tight it it’s been a good match though that’s been a great mat I think mean some good birdies and some great shots near hole in one I know I know I think I’ve had either four or five birdies and you’ve you’ve had seven so it’s been yeah that’s really good a lot of birdies two good drives down here yeah both in uh obviously in Fairway you need to be in the Fairway obviously to this pin over the bunker don’t you so yeah this this green caught me out yesterday I hit it long and it’s okay down toward 11 yeah okay two good drives just in obviously another 20 OD yards P 165 playing 182 that seems a I don’t know if that’s right too much it looks like five uphill six uphill to me okay I’ve got to carry that bunker I’m going to hit Aon just go straight at it wind wind wind help it what’s there MAA yeah ah I don’t think it’s any trouble Rick but yeah not on the green which I needed to be going the hard back foot wedge this time all it’s right down it yeah I think that’s good over left to right Le to get to 7 under I think that would be good night Vienna if this drops in go oh it was right in the middle it was right in the middle I got to admit that was a little cage I and it drifted it was just wind really picked up there’s obviously a little bit of squally shower coming through and but you know I’ve grown up as a junior with many a good round going and standing on this tea and you know it’s obviously a birdy hole and they’ve well they by putting those bunkers in they make you go a little further left but in the old days you had to just gun it down down the train line and uh I think were the bunkers on the left originally and then corre exactly so that you there was really nowhere to bail out before I think um I don’t know might be a better hole now but I like the fact of having to sort of commit down Rosy alley yeah I got lucky bounc back but might have found a bunker but it’s better than being on the rail Railway okay I got very very very very very very lucky hit the tree should have been on the Railway it’s bounced out to here and it’s avoided the bunkers if I was been really picky if it would have been here on a nice flat bit that would have been a dream but it’s just just on a slight downhill slope which is making this second shot touch harder so I’ve got to carry this bunker i’ got to hit it far enough to get over to the green but I’ve got to carry this bunker thing is I need to rock it a four I three I’m going to hit that bank four and I’ve got a rocket H just going to straight for it and see what happens oh I thought I was the risk that was always the risk just couldn’t I needed more Loft to get over that bank I think you were telling the lads on the te like Road Hole Vibes here s Andre Road Hole VI screen is just like it you’re coming kind of from a side angle but yeah yeah the pin’s in kind of the B left position so I can maybe challenge the left side of it today how five you got 200 okay let’s have let’s see another Eagle we saw one on the third okay let’s see bit chunky right fly but chunky get there get there get there get there ball bunker yeah Road Hole bunker one yard probably from hitting the bank and probably doing exactly like the third hole so close Okay one of the hardest shots in golf got faced here 70y bunker shot got to get up and down it’s like an absolute necessity I get up and down mean you’re bunker good effort mate cuz you didn’t even have a great lie there it seemed to be a lot of sand behind your ball there because it rolled in and the Sands got wet yeah the the ball was covered in sand and it wasn’t yeah not easy if that was me obviously in a tournament I’d have taken that shot you just hit and been quite happy with that yeah it wasn’t a million miles off just needed a few EXT yeah cuz you catch that a bit clean you’re in trouble aren’t you exactly okay both found this little bunker however Justin’s only hit two I have it three um so the best case if I get up and down from here and Justin doesn’t then we’ll level level pegging but still Justin’s one shot in the lead we want to play oh it’s delightful ran on up a bit more than expected yeah I actually thought it was going to pull up short the whole yeah I was quite happy with the chunk and run Vibes but um yeah chunk and too much run right this has to go in this has to drop come Rick give the people what they want this has to drop make it interesting up the last oh Rick I mean that is the definition of trunk and run just tried to be a bit too cute on it just to keep that pressure on Justin if this goes in for a par just to keep that little bit of pressure on make him whole his oh it’s a great put it’s a great five to be honest with you after all that that looked very confident after all that drama of the the poor t- shot the m not great second shot up and down right very guty well this is is still to take a two shot lead down the last or is it going to be just one oh it’s two shot lead down the last course it is well done mate so you got is that seven under now that is seven yeah wow that’s really good just saying I’ve sort of driven it okay on the holes that I’ve needed to par fives things like that and yeah just couple nice long Parts in the middle of my round got me going didn’t it but I was going to like for you I me you’re seven on the par I mean people can’t dream of being seven on the par I don’t feel like you’d say have to say this is your best ball striking day either no I don’t think I’ve hit a good iron shot but then you so how’ you do that how does that make sense oh I don’t know I don’t know just get it in the a yeah exactly the art form of getting in the hole what a match what a match thought I had you one I thought you had me I thought I had you and then just never say never mate never there’s two two in eight going down the last yep you’re seven underp which is just incredible golf I’m now five over effectively so five under two in it one to play it’s been a hell of a match I’ve enjoyed let’s let’s keep going strong well it’s not out of bounds and it should be oh oh oh I like what you were thinking though out of bounds is what I need here that’s what I was thinking I was thinking a little a little FY one there no it’s good and it just skirted past the bunker very done very good right let’s at least make birdi in see what happens great finishing hole 400 just over 400 yards good swing mate it ain’t over it ain’t over it ain’t over that was a really flush hit that was nice yeah that was really nice okay after possibly the best Drive of the day left myself with this got to make birdie to ask the question at least 135 yards nice little soft nine iron pins at the front a move back move back move back oh yeah better than I expected good swing nice can three put from there be lagging it up yeah I’ve had some enjoyable days here mate at northand golf club but it’s been nice sharing it with you I’ve really enjoyed thanks for bringing me back to my old stomping ground I know I feel like it was a I know you don’t get to play here very often so it’s a real privilege and pleasure to be able to play yeah it’s been amazing obviously it’s kind of nice to see the Juniors come out and sort of watch and support and uh yeah there’s a lot of love at this club for me and so good to be back oh yeah I mean it’s it genuinely seems like such a nice golf club yeah exactly i’ say it’s a proper golf club obviously it’s a nice James Bray design it’s got some good roots to it and good history and uh yeah hosts some good events and open qualifiers but yeah it’s got open qualifiers too yeah so it’s you know it’s got it’s got its history and Heritage but you’re right it’s underneath it all it’s just a good good members Club yeah very good two nice shots into the green here actually both a bit deep I actually thought they were both kind of pin high if honest okay let’s finish this with a birdie it’s been a hell of a round an absolute onslaught of birdies certainly by Justin a few thrown in by me let’s see if we can finish with one more oh slammed it had to give it a go though yeah I just slammed it through the brake right to get to 800 which will be absolutely incredible a 70 a 62 sorry certainly not in the 70s a 62 okay birdies one bogey let’s see come on Justin we really want this to go in do it do it do it do decent amount of passs yeah I’ll throw in a couple of doubles match play I think that could have that could have had you then definitely do you think your your practice round hurt you or helped you um help me I do gen cuz I thought like maybe you knew you coming into the bat nine not of good vibes from yesterday and that seemed to play out again didn’t did a little bit yeah great well done thanks
