If you’re playing defense and the offense gets a step on you, you have to disassociate your upper and lower halves of your body to stay square and then sprint ahead to recover. Just sliding won’t work.

if he gets a step on me there’s no way from this position that I can keep sliding and eventually get in front of him I’m going to talk about defense a little bit okay if I’m defending Justin right now if he’s running and I’m sliding he’s faster correct so we need to disassociate our upper and lower half so my shoulders stay square but my feet start running and now eventually I can get in front of him so as you can see my shoulders all right stay on him here so it essentially looks as if like I’m sliding what you are doing right now is you’re trying to slide and eventually he’s going to beat me all right I got to sprint in order to catch up but as I start to Sprint I keep my shoulder Square to him this way now I’m playing basketball
