power that demolished dozens of iconic figures and established the Dutchman as the goat of K1 in today’s video we look back at the career of one of the Netherlands finest in the quarterfinals of the tournament the Hawking Dutchman met the sturdy Ray SEO early on shil made the most of his size by consistently front kicking the tiny pitbull from New Zealand SEO being the wrecking ball of Fury that he was came swinging hell for [Applause] leather Shi wasn’t up for a closed quarters brawl and he kept the action at arms length and throwing punches in bunches as SEO loaded up on haym makers even though SEO surprise shield with punches now and then the Dutchman was turning out to be a nightmare matchup for for [Applause] him after three rounds of battle Shield won comfortably and progressed to the semifinals where he faced the compatriot Remy bosi who absorbed a barrage of kicks knees and punches early and put bun chosi out of there with a sharp kick to the [Applause] liver it was as perfect as a performance in a semifinal could be but the best was yet to come in the final Shield faced an old foe in the shape of glow fossa who had qualified for the final as a reverse with incredible forgin but as soon as he entered the ring against shil his luck ran out [Applause] it was Shield’s first major victory in Combat Sports and one that marked the beginning of a phenomenal run in K1 a year later Shield was back in the saddle doing what he did best smoking people in the K1 Grand Prix in 2006 he faced bjor Brey in a tournament qualifier where Swiss Express came streaming in and Bri over hand right from Bri but with so much speed and little Direction Brey hit the high tower and went tumbling early in the second minute B oh Bri H down it goes the big kabos brgy managed to clear the cobwebs but shil refused to ease off on the accelerator Brey got up again but Shield’s third roll of the dice devastatingly ended his fo’s night Bri taking down he go it’s all over it is good Night Irene the champion in the quarterfinal he faced Jerome Le Banner where in a battle of European Titans the Dutch proved to be a bit too much she’ll teed off with slow but thuing kicks to open round one inside fire kick from sh of the big monster from Holland the plan was to pick the Frenchmen apart from distance and only launch those Fist of Fury when [Applause] needed he looks like’s 25 again Mike leaner struggled with his size difference in round two as Shield picked him apart from distance and then forced him to take a knee with some good old head hunting the high left kick Le’s going down in round three leaner had no option but to throw the kitchen sink or maybe the entire house had shill oh sudden lift hook to the jaw and Leana couldn’t follow up but despite his last round action but Shield still landed the bigger and better combinations the second second time third time this R oh the r kick of the hiding has he got one big shot s goes high and that’s it after three rounds of the David and Goliath battle Shield qualified for his second consecutive K1 World Grand Prix final where he faced his compatriot and one of kickboxing’s ultimate best Peter SS who kicked things off with a bang Peter up like a on fire Peter’s message was clear he was taking the fight to Shield but hi Tower was prepared for a meaty slobber knocker high knee from sh right hand from C W high from sh this place is G bananas early in round two Shi left SS Frozen like Elsa with a couple of quick lefts left from mer tried to double up on it SS defrosted before connected with a monstrous overhand right as we all are shil responded with a foot to the liver that had aired squatting freeway knowing that he needed a Hil Mary in the Super Bowl in round three SS went for Brook double jab is the K1 gr pre champion of the world a few months after winning a second consecutive Grand Prix shil return to action running it back with a nasty Ray seepo for the K1 super heavyweight title fight Style by flooring shield with a crunching left hook but just as it looked like SEO was a few blows away from Victory Shield melted him with a counter left hook [Applause] the Grand Prix King was now the K1 super heavyweight champion later that year Shield entered the K1 World Grand Prix as the defending Champion the goal this year is to get the third time Grand Prix champion in the opening round he faced Paul SLO winsky who tasted the legendary Dutch p hour early though badly shaken Slowinski responded with a lightning combo which Shield acknowledged but then he pulled off a combo of his own capping it off with a knee strike from the pits of [Applause] Hell a few seconds later it was all over short faced a famili your face in Jerome Le Banner in the semifinals of the tournament having paid the price for fighting shield from a distance in the previous year’s Grand Prix leaner pressed the action [Applause] early as seconds ticked by it appeared as if leanor had found his modus operi against the goat Le Banner was cruising but then he got greedy and ran into a knee strike that had his brain cells colliding with one [Applause] another early in round two shil damaged his fo’s leg with a low kick and seconds later he had leaner crashing onto the mat with another [Applause] one forcing his corner to throw in the now Shield qualified for the final and once again faced the phenomenal Peter SS the two legends opened the fight by exchanging low kicks before giving each other the leathery Taste of their fist at range and in the clinch seconds later Shi floored SS with a hard leg kick SS was badly compromised and halfway through round one his legs gave out ja is caught him with the CH the veteran failed to continue and shield continued his dominance in the K1 Grand Prix Sports firstever three time Champion is semi schz Holland a year later elz exacted Revenge by knocking Shield out of the K1 Grand Prix 2008 in the opening round but high tower rebuilt momentum and entered the 2009 tournament with a lot to prove she’ll faced der Rome lebanner in the semifinal owing to his success in their previous fight lebanner pressed the action once again the of s SCH and that’s what he does but schil broke his will and momentum with a gigantic kick why why isn’t everybody doing it lean recovered but Shield landed the Fatal blow ripping the Frenchman’s lever into against against the ropes like this moments later Shield returned the favor by putting his atrocious power on display get out of there tired oh he goes down the tide has turned bosi got up but went down again guys I’m told Remy’s carrying an injury to his left leg moments later Basi fell down and ultimately out power outside leg damage leg and it is over it is over sh stops him with 23 seconds remaining in the final schil faced The Young and Hungry bad boy of kickboxing bter Hari who had knocked high tower in less than a minute a few months before the GP finale wanting to pull off something similar Hari opened the fight like a house of fire [Applause] there’s he tags with but with all that adrenaline pupping like crazy he forgot who he was up against bense he needs to relax he needs to just work up his job he did it against cinnamon he did it against har was resilient but not Tough Enough To Take sh’s left hook and continue fighting it’s good night I it’s good night I it was schils fourth K1 Grand Prix title and the most important of the four since it put him up there as the goat of K1 the most effective tournament fighter in the hist of he’s always beened as the strongest chion of all a few fights later schil closed the triumphant chapter of his career in K1 and went off in search of more golden Glory Kickboxing and he didn’t need to wait long for it in only his first fight shill defeated Errol Zimmerman to win the glory heavyweight title before entering the Grand Slam Tournament where the king beat the Crown Prince of kickboxing Rico ver Huen in the quarterfinals in the semifinals shil took out Goan saki in the final of the tournament he faced Daniel G in the last fight of his career and it was a perfect snall Shi landed the first threatening combo of the night four fights in one night win GA responded with the same amount of veiler with his own kick right hand connects by GA it was Shield’s turn now to throw some heat by sh comes forward kick Comin made the next move but then shil landed the final blue of his career a head kick that destroyed G oh [Applause] down go Shield ended his career with yet another Stellar tournament Victory and solidified his place
