[Music] oh this is between hook sets I’m chasing Walter from in through the outdoors with my partner in slime Kurt Underhill from the fishing [Music] crew what is going on dude oh not a whole heck of a lot I’m going to start looking up because I want people to wonder what’s on my ceiling every time you do a hook set you damn near fall over backwards and look up well that’s because I got a poster of Farah facet up there oh far Farah faet the one the one the one oh man how you been I haven’t talked to you in a while I I’ve been pretty good I’ve been pretty good you know kind of making my way through the I’m not a disc jockey anymore thing I’m a salesperson um and that’s fine you know like people say well you’ve got a job yes I do I do maybe the radio thing will come back uh you know you never know but yeah everything’s you know everything’s going pretty good I’ve been out coin collecting doing a little coin chasing you know metal detecting stuff like that I I can’t keep up with Dan Spangler though I mean Dan is just a Charmed dude all the way around and I don’t know on that so yeah been to the river fishing yeah yes went to the river fishing caught uh C couple limits of Walley everything is all in good I learned some stuff it gave me opportunity to make a few new episodes for in through the outdoors I love sharing really like doing these episodes where I just share what I’ve learned and it’s just a ton of fun I just wrote an episode today about the fact that I learned that speed and color and depth really played into it last weekend we were we were trolling too fast and we were a little loud we needed to slow down and we needed to just use a plain hook and a minnow and we would have caught bigger fish but you know I I take all that stuff back to Buck Perry and structure fishing and the interesting the after after a cold front comes through the smaller fish are the first to be active followed by the next class size the next class and they’ll you know bigger bigger bigger and it’s the big monster ERS that finally make their way into the shallows and start actively feeding and so when you put all that information together you go H I just learned something yeah hopefully you can duplicate it you know stuff like that how about you what you been doing oh just doing tournaments we had a couple uh groups at The Outpost for BPI very excited about the Governor’s Cup coming up it was uh both weekends was 30 lbs for 12 fish to win really and didn’t weigh very many overs because it’s just a guided guided fishing trip that we weigh the fish for but uh Styles Brown won this last week day one Styles he uh did not have an over okay and he weighed that 15 pound Mark day two he had a spawned out 27 that didn’t go very big but he put 30 pounds up and the I mean I weighed uh n just shy of 19 or 19 and a quarter I can’t remember exactly that went almost three pounds oh so a lot a lot of healthy fish in the system and let’s hope they hold and continue to go for the the cup man I know I we always talk about the gov cup flop you know the lake flips always seems to be hot the week prior leading up but for some reason this gov cup makes uh makes these fish change their mind that must they must know that 50 years of a Walleye tournament going on is coming their way pretty quick and some of the best anglers in the country are about to come out there and get you so well yeah I’m pretty excited though the fish are healthy uh I started catching them on the southern end over the weekend they started getting better sounds like the mouth of Cheyenne is good it sounds like up and down the river is very good I saw the results from with Denny Palmer Tyson Keller dwey jelm and uh uh dy’s wife won that one they had an 115 so pretty awesome but yeah I mean I don’t want to talk too long tonight because we have a long night ahead of us we have 200 teams to draw actually 197 because three are already selected last year’s Champions Chris Haynes Ben Brown automatically get to be team one team uh two was bought by Henry Maddox at the delta waterfall banquet okay we donate two spots to Delta waterfall this year it raised $5,000 for Delta waterfall for two spots so Henry madx bought uh the first spot he decided to be team two and then Mark Perry bought uh the second one we auctioned off and he picked team 200 so when we go to draw tonight the first team out of the bat is going to be team three and we’re going to roll from there we have a collective I think I added it up it’s I can’t I lost my whiteboard I think it’s like nine or 11 states represented so you’re going to see New Mexico Oklahoma Texas you’re GNA see all over the the the board on where people are coming from for this we got where they’re coming from pretty excited about it uh Wyoming Montana Minnesota Iowa Nebraska every I mean just a collective group of Ang coming to fish the 50th gov cup but we’re gonna do a couple new things this year and I’m pretty excited about them the Thursday night before we are going to have a 50th Governor’s Cup party this is going to be limited entry we will have a thing up on the website here soon uh selling 150 tickets at $25 a ticket uh Shawn Brocks whose dad started a tournament Sean ran it for years is going to serve a prime ribner uh nice part is all of the proceeds this is going to be not a money-making event but all the proceeds are going to fund kids fishing in the future so we’re going to buy rods for the kids we’re going to buy tackle boxes and help get them kids out there and we’ve got a custom piece of artwork coming from Josh spies I know we have a c Rod coming from Josh Bible for that night so we’re gonna have some stuff to get of that night and are you getting your checkbook out already oh no no but I’ve got a uh certificate for a half a day guided fishing trip with Don fad the old Silver Fox oh there you go KW maybe I’ll bring that along and uh and we can give that away maybe uh Don and Chuck Krauss can take somebody out and get them a limit there you go you know so we’re going to give some stuff away that night have some Raffles have some fun uh uh pay attention we’ll put a post out on all our social medias and email will go out to all the Anglers but uh we want to get together I think we’re going to do some live broadcasts from there get some good old stories from back in the day and to the future of the gov cup we’re inviting some very special people that have had been influential in the gov cup over the years so couple hundred people uh going to get together the other thing I’m excited about is uh Travis Stout with Chic signs does all our Graphics do all our logo all our vinyl he came to me and we’re going to have the first ever Lieutenant Governor’s Cup really and it’s going to be a kids fishing tournament Saturday at the gov cup love it so we’re gonna take about I think it’s gonna be 80 to 100 kids sign up we’ll have a sign up on the website for that as well and kids ages uh I think we’re going to go from like five to five to 14 or 15 and sign up there’s going to be some prizes we’re working with some great sponsors to get some prizes to give away to these kids there’s going to be no money like I said no money to get signed up for that but they’re going to fish for a few hours during the day and we’re going to run them across the big stage right before the weigh-in you know a couple hours before the weigh-in starts and they can hang out and check out uh what we have to offer with the Governor’s Cup so pay attention to that if you’re traveling from out of state and you’re bringing your family make sure they know about that so we’re pretty excited but let’s get let let’s get this stuff going because like I said it’s going to be a long night of drawing so make sure I get the screen right is that that’s the one we want so how it’s gonna work is we’ve got all 197 teams like I said three teams have already claimed their spots in the wheel and Shane Shane’s already commenting I’ve got a few kids ready perfect um we’re going to spin the wheel first one out going to be team three and we’re going to spin all the way down to 199 because 200 is taken so let’s see who lucky team three is going to be Joey Christ and Taylor Johnson both from South Dakota you probably better read the names you’re probably gonna be better than I am there
