this summer I’m going to be taking on Champions we’re going to be challenging Club Champions at their home course to an 18 hole match play to see if I can take them on and beat them we’re even going to be playing for a small wager to fund some Junior lessons at their Club today’s test is going to be a stone one we’re taking on form ladies golf clubs CLA sedon who happens to be lancashire’s most capped player ever in history history it’s going to be a true battle for me let’s head down to the first te and meet the opponent so we’ve got down to the first T and we are going to meet our first opponent on the club Champ series and it is M CLA SED hi there welcome to the channel thank you so we’re down at for ladies which is your home Club y we’re going to be taking each other on in a match play scenario today you’re playing a three handicap is that right that’s right and with the adjusted handicap system that we have here cla’s going to be getting 10 shots from me so I think we’ll probably get to the 11th T shake hands and go in for a nice slice of KK but um we’re going to have a little wager okay you okay with that y going to play for1 going to the junior section here at formul 8’s Golf Club so whoever loses is going to donate that money to the club um it’s a gorgeous place you’ve been a member for how many years now well well over 40 years yeah bet you’ve seen a lot of iterations of the course and different things go on but indeed indeed but it’s still as beautiful as ever yeah yeah do you think you you’ve got it in you today to to school me by 10 I’m I’m going to be trying my very best right well I’m yet to break par round here so uh giving 10 shots I’m don’t hold very high hopes for myself we can give you a good ble CLA by the way as you’ll find out is an unbelievable player and we’ll get some great stories are you the most capped player in Lancashire ladies history possibly yeah possibly yeah can play a bit then but we’re going to get out there it’s match play format 10 shots for CLA we’re going to start on the first hole luckily you don’t get one here so have to try and get one up quickly on you but uh here we go comment down below who do you tea thank you there we go easy easy right the first whole hair fory ladies if you haven’t seen it you probably will have from some of the videos of course itself today is looking fantastic 266 yards a par for you’re going driver have you got any tips for playing around here yeah I just make sure you visit the Heather regularly okay yeah yeah we’ll have no problem with that it’s very pretty at this time of year right then best of luck thank you play well you too great shot little fade down the middle no pressure right then I’m actually uh I’m actually a little bit nervous we’ve got a a bit of a crowd following us around we’ve even got a scoreboard carrier today it’s a uh a serious serious competition so let see what we can do first hole five iron for me get it in play and go from there go a bit do just in the semi but we’re away the nerves have gone off we go down the first uh 83 here but it’s slightly into the wind but it does run on front to back here so I’m hoping to try and Pitch this just on the front edge just past the front ouge Nice Shot very good all right just 75 yards for me cla’s hit a nice one in there cla’s already played this morning so she’s got a little bit of knowledge but let’s see if I can get in close here try and squeeze one out early I’ve pulled it not my best work not my best work but it’ll do hold the P move on cla’s in tight there did you win your match this morning CLA I did all right noce how I did very proudly then get there bit slower than the pussing Green do you want it in or out I was out thanks I’m always out oh yeah yeah she knows it she knows it part of the flag out team take it away take it away all right I’ve pulled it one up straight away that was no good was it yeah raise that please right look at that the board’s changed already right second hle par five here this is It’s a good hole this one probably the hardest part five would you stand on the course yeah yeah yeah tight Fairway little while the brook doesn’t really come into play really does it not really it might do for you yeah hopefully not it’s 4 413 little dog leg left to right your honor still one up thank you well done great ball that’ll run that will run how far do you normally hit driver CL um not quite sure perhaps 220 yeah maybe on a good day and you try like fade draw everything or you certain shot shape or just try and get it on the short stuff just try and get it yeah straight bounce yeah that should do right try and knock that one on now more of it already up against it okay so this is 207 into the wind so I certainly can’t get there today uh the bunker on the right’s 146 I’m going to try and play for the bunkers on the right of the green uh it should give me a shot into the green I hope if I can can you edit that one the perfect layup right I’ve got 185 to the front and 195 to the flag so I reckon this line might jump a little bit I’m going to go six iron just down the left hopefully the wind moves it across a bit and try and bounce it onto the front of the green out of the roof if we can get an eagle put that would be much welcome go on wind go on wind great shot I think I’ve just met maybe crack the front there so need that do that silly Miss just like that thir one sit sit sit we skinny should be okay chiping and putting how long how many laner caps is it you’ve had well I’m told in the region of 175 175 but that was from when I was a junior and did you play here as a junior or where did you play my home course was West LS just down wow so line yeah yeah so I played there from when I was about 10 yeah and then when I got married um my husband and I moved up here to forby and I joined forby uh in the early ‘ 80s wow yeah then carried on just playing and playing and just yeah um my husband was pro at um West Derby before he came became pro at Hillside so I played at West Arby quite a bit yeah and now I’m uh very kindly been given life membership when my husband retired we both got life membership at Hillside so I played beautiful played at some of best courses along this line really very lucky and your daughter Mandy’s a good player isn’t she she is yes um County player as well she played Junior County yeah yeah uh and possibly I think one of my my my nicest experiences was I played with Mandy in the northern forums wow very good friend of mine um her husband was very ill and Mandy was a late replacement playing the northern for when we won when she was 14 wow mother and daughter so that was a nice experience is any other mother and daughter done that have been a couple yeah but we’re actually playing again this year so we’ll watch this space well done rubbish chance of the Big Bird some Redemption roll this up tight don’t give a chance to make me put [Music] that distance again take it [Music] away that’s your hole I think now you got shot here yeah I’m six at five down yeah I need to hold this then don’t I after the last holees performance I don’t think this is in doubt you say that nice thought thank you all right look at that clap from the crowd love it all square onto the third first of the par 3es here right 134 yards the third hole is playing today just been found out that um CLA played was it you C AP challenge Captain’s prize this morning yeah so is that match play yeah it is yeah and you won uh I just managed to to to squeeze a win on the 18th against very good friend Karen par she uh she gave me a really good bottle oh brilliant good news is the pins have all changed since CLA went out so she’s got no Advantage now but this one’s tuck like it’s a little bit of a a risky pin that one isn’t it that tight it’s a bit tight that one yeah good uh good par three this one let’s see what we can do 9 a for me oh that is a terrible golf shot miss the Trap get short it’s in WoW lovely strike that was exciting that came out of the middle yeah sounded flush pin High middle of the green what did you hit seven lovely shot that could done with that I don’t know whether it would be better missing the bunker or not but we’re up in the face of it that’s going to help with the elevation but got to land it sort of halfway and just let it run out that was poor very poor didn’t commit to that need a miracle here just on L at least we got one to the hole [Music] go away what a two what a two classy way to go one up again there classy way GL hit the back of the [Laughter] hole right 286 this one lovely hole oh no down turned it over get down turned it over just trickled in but I don’t think it’ll be too bad will it um not sure Matt could have been a bit of bother that it right 222 to the trap in the middle so little cuty for and keep it Shy oh I’ve come with you we come to join me yeah it’s okay just shy of it just shy okay so this is 110 to the pin it’s not really the ideal place to be but it’s the better side to be coming in from it’s uphill so I’m just going to going to go up a little bit go in great line just a bit hot yeah we’ve got mine it’s playable but in a very large divot and I’ve got what was it forgotten how far is up now 989 I think it was 88 yards 88 going to open up my 5 oh thank you 8 open up the 54 and just try and try and land it about 80 because it’s going to release out of that just got to get it up that’s the main thing can use a bit of the slope on the right as well that was so bad that lie oh well is that [Music] go on then woohoo it’s g in it’s g in bit of redemption great shot M thank you got to have one of year travel unlucky it’s it great line too hard Tad P great birdie of yours we’ll take it nearly broke my wrist on the second one right all square after a little cheeky chipping hole five though my favorite hole on the course here par three 123 yards day there is nothing for missing this green right and the flag is precariously close to that right hand side so just got the left and try and cut it try and try and Scatter a with one one decent swing maybe got the drawers from somewhere today come down a little bit of help there that’ll do that’s what that mound’s for isn’t it of course that’s what you said nothing down for being right soft soft soft oo just trickled sure lady of your talents though little Michelson flop shot tap it in Easy oh great shot very well played from down there get there get there take it away a great line oh unlucky great pup great P well it was good enough lovely hold that right on to the six we go we’re uh with five holes in CLA how have you found it thus far um it would be nice if I could find the middle of the club M that would be good that would be good yeah yeah but thoroughly enjoying the game with you um I think I just need to up my game a little bit it’s nervy first time on camera isn’t it very nervy it feels really weird um you think about things that you don’t ever think about on the golf course I would imagine absolutely instead of just enjoying being out here and enjoying the company you suddenly start thinking about how your swing looks and so on and so forth and um I’ve just got to get out of myself and just enjoy the enjoy the experience brilliant well the Sun’s shining was it 14 no 13 more holes to go yeah let’s let’s play we are on the six hole 405 yards stroke one so you’re shot in here CLA difficult hole this one there’s a couple of but I like this one the way I think this I think holes 4 five six are a great little corner and then I think uh 10 11 12 is like these two corners specifically are probably the best little three old runs yet on the course so where where are you are you going to carry the bunker here is that your your own yeah so that what’s that bunker that uh that one is is only 220 off the T and then the others are 260 so sometimes I hit driver but I said to myself before this match you’re not hitting driver until the eighth hole that’s that was my one rule so I’m going to go go rescue and try and get it in between the bunkers it’s actually gone where I aimed it it’s incredible first time of it that farway in about 3 [Music] years smoked it that’s a great shot very straight very straight that’s a great ball first lovely that laugh and on right right then fantastic t- shot all depends what happens next Mt it’s a lovely strike kick right the Trap kick right get right Short Stop ooh nearly came back out there it popped up and it tried it tried tried but 130 to the front wind sort of down and off the left if I can get a wedging close here if I could get one up because cla’s got a shot this is take advantage time let’s see if I can do I’m just going to play a bit safe though middle and try and fade it pulled it mediocre at best it’s terrible that one yeah I played pretty much Level Playing Field now so I need to get this one close with the pace it goes right then it goes left at the end need to Cozy it up a good pace B good effort take it away thank you that would have been some up and down wouldn’t it oh nice for we’ll take it we’ll take it not you have an Applause it never have a clap for me these two when they’re filming right we are one up to the bad bad guys seventh hole though 251 here the bunkers in front of the green of the worry there like 2 225 four I’m just shy of them game of up and down I think this hole little kick left push I’ll do great shot cheers straight kick straight yeah good lovely Drive ladies six holes in how’s the match gone so far well we’re hoping cla’s got a win which is hanging in there which is great she’s playing very well very well especially under the pressure she’s under so this is 47 yards to the pens on just going to try and it’s into the wind so I’m just going to try and get it somewhere up there put a bit of pressure on that softly softly yeah good shot good sh we’ve got about three or four Paces up onto the green then about 40 ft 45 ft so just all about Pace here not much breaking it softly softly not bad not bad meat on the bone there first one put her under pressure oh lovely there we go that’s a birdie thank you there we go actually played some some golf I’ve never known it supposed to be having a good player around you all always elevates your game so just need to take clar on every video we film now just so I can actually play half decent so the eighth hole here second par five you play 433 yards pretty much straight away couple of bunkers off the tea and then some down on the left this is the the one where youve got to get it in the Fairway down here or else you’re in deep dooo should be pretty good great drive thank you great ball miss that trap Str cleared them by a mile that is it over it yeah yeah nutted I would say that one was lovely drive there CLA well thank you I actually managed to hit one out of the middle there which was nice shoting as well down here that was properly struck just turned it over slight just in the semi so you got down what was your lowest handicap were you in the pluses weren’t you no were you not scratches or no that’s um that’s my goal for retirement is it try and get down to what a ridiculous goal at my age so three now and your go to get to scratches it and what being what’s your lowest you’ve been uh one one one not point 6 never got to scratch yeah and what what do you think like what were the attributes that got you there there’s obviously a lot of amateurs watched our videos and want to improve what do you think got you that low um I think you’ve got to be committed to playing and and and taking lessons and getting a good basic setup I’m a great believer in play with what is natural to you just enjoy being out in the surroundings you know you can put too much pressure on yourself to play well yeah and that’s when you don’t play well um but certainly you got you’ve got to work at it you know it doesn’t doesn’t come easily to anybody without the degree of practice yeah you know yeah definitely you put in what you get out I think in this game it’s very much like life isn’t it yeah it’s not easy right 15 1 for me 150 I’m going to go 99 the wind’s slightly into but the LI looks like the ball might jump a bit out of it so if I can get one in close put a bit of pressure on CLA little cut please I’ve pulled it [Music] left oh we got a favorable kick should just be left edge of the green so we should be okay there little pulley we’ve got 47 to the the pin Joe but I definitely don’t want to go past the bin here cuz it runs away into a little Hollow of The Far Side so I’m just going to try and Pitch it sort of halfway between the bunker and the pen just coming in from the right a little bit that’s the theory that’s a good shot release yeah nice shot F up the hill down the hill across the soil I thought would have got a bit of members look and rolled on to the green but cla’s obviously had a word here we’re both essentially lying here for two now cla’s about 25 ft so I need to Cozy this up I don’t want another tester sit sit that was terrifically rubbish get there oh right online take it away thank you five for four well done oh pushed it that’s okay oh right lose one back to one up right good hole this one you’re going into the valley aren’t you yes 319 yards and it plays every every foot of that or every yard of that what what did the uh the ladies do here on the row series would they um most of them are playing Shore to the bank yeah playing Shore to the alley and then into the green um I think it’s about 220 yeah to the bank there yeah so I think most of them were playing short and then playing a short iron in yeah yeah lovely ball just cut it again bit cut again that could be in a horrible Gully she just bounced over it look like don’t know whether this is stupid or not but we may as well give it a go should kick right and be very good oh yes right that’ll do oh that’s flushed great shot kick left look good look good just whether it’s kicked off oh you got a thumbs up from Tom hard to get that good thank you caddies well I was going to hit six but I just felt it was into the wind a bit so I just went up to a five but I flew the green this morning thinking the same thing sit sit sit I just landed it two or 3 fet long great Pace right then come on mat you need to haul this Ah that’s fine M pick your take yours up CLA okay thank you there we go two in a row all square after nine holes new nine coming comment down below who’s going to win this thing two in a row from CLA this is this is one of the top hes this this little corner as well again isn’t it yeah 10 to 12 beautiful little section of the course kicks off with a par five 422 all square clear all to play for excellent yeah up and down like a yo-yo aren’t we delighted to still be here off we go oh no no no get down get down get down yeah it’s okay T’s just there up on the r I’ll do Center stripe thank you great shot right onwards well you don’t get much Lush grass Lush grass at Forbe but when you do you just got to accept your accept your penalty and just get it out and back back in play so I’m just going to try and knock a 99 up there nice shot good shot 100 yards on the nose for this one little bit down the wind so we’re going to go 60 get it up quick and try and get it in close go [ __ ] ah short annoying perhaps it was a half after all softly softly softly tricky off that lie isn’t it when you’re up against that it was just a terrible shot all right fair enough thank you for trying to be kind yeah the lads normally tell me it’s okay yeah it was the LIE makes me feel better this is turn turn turn turn turn turn that looked very good for a long time then get there lovely part thank you all you got sharen you have you not too many too many too many thought that was for a five no thank you right it’s those holes I’ve got to take advantage of I just can’t make any errors on the rest now cuz there’s no more par fivs and a lot of tricky PA ORS would you say the the back Nine’s tougher than the front n definely yeah definitely 13 14 15 especially yeah it’s in the summer it’s not so bad but certainly in the winter 13 and 15 play really quite long yeah um 11 a tough hole 11’s a great hole into the wind as well you know it’s a a challenging driving hole and you got the 12th which in the winter again into the um prevailing wind yeah it plays 158 but in the winter it can play 190 quite happily you know when you get the wind up 180 perhaps um so yeah the back nine is is much less forgiving than the front man I would say yeah right onwards we go do we do we have to play on now or can we just sit here which you where did you go here what have we got what’s the selection you’ve got um we’ve got Walnut you’ve got Walnut you’ve got bar bar barab bre you’ve got chocolate is is this one a marized chocolate orange chocolate orange lemon drizzle I’m salivating yeah they’re gone as you’re a guest here well gosh they’re all beautiful um I think um I think I’m going to have to take that one chocolate orange yes solid yeah is that okay is that 100% yeah no I oh thank you yeah look at that right then our 11th hole is 307 yards a great hole this one dog leg left to right and you rise up to the green and then you get a fantastic view on the green of all the surrounding you see you see the ocean from here can’t you all see you can yeah see out that way right then let’s see if we can get up close that’s a straight bounce we could be up on the green should be somewhere near the front that’s just rude is it sorry that’s just I need to gain every Advantage I can over I’m clinging on here that’s a fabulous shot thank you down the Fairway just here thank you well done I don’t certainly don’t want to be big here but I definitely don’t want to be short either so I’ve got to be kind of in between that those two lost that in the sun yeah good shot pin High need to land it somewhere near me and let it release up here I need to up and down this ideally cuz cla’s only about 20 ft there all be on The Fringe but a great shot in get up yeah just needed a couple more feet and it was spot on but about seven or eight ft got a chance travel travel travel oh just like that straight back to all Square thank you great three thank you great three not even needed can’t do anything against that can you right on to the 12th after incredible birdie that very very nice 160 yards this one today CLA pin slat bang in the middle it’s it’s whole in one location I wish how many have you had Matt four yeah I’ve had have you not never my dad’s never had one actually no all the arounds he’s played have you been very how close have you been on the edge yeah yeah yeah today’s the day that will be lovely yeah knock it him you see Tom going berserk up the green right then we go again all square pull that left good kick right good kick right TR yeah I think so yeah I didn’t see a bounce yeah I think it was there’s a there’s a secondary bunker isn’t there there one behind the one you can see I think it’s got that right I’m going a just a 3/4 one little cut at the flag oh wow get further right well I’ve seen it bounce I know where it is this will be interesting first wild shot of hit today just got a little bit stuck on that one got few few few mixed thoughts oh fabulous sh thank you thank you can we go home now we’re done it’s not getting any better than that well played oh that’s unfortunate unlucky take it away well done that was a great up and down thank you attacked by a wasp or something then right we uh managed to scrape one there on to the next right the 13th hole I think this is the hardest driving hole on the golf course 384 yards raised te it’s a dog leg slightly right to left you can’t see a portion of the left side of the Fairway there is a bunker at 290 down there it’s downwind and then there’s just G staring at you so I’m going to be sensible here I’ve learned over my many rounds it’s not driver the amount of balls I’ve lost down here but get four iron in play see what we can do right next to the 150 post Tak an ey for safety hit it in the rubbish it’s a lovely W old struck yeah what’s been the um the highlight of your plane career then CLA thank you um gosh that’s a tricky one um probably two things I think wining the north enforcement that I mentioned earlier with my daugh has to be probably a very special moment but I actually um shot the course record the memb record around here a couple of years back had a 65 around here wow and that that was something very special um 71 isn’t it 71 par yeah um 6 under yeah um which for golfer was okay in um so I think that probably was the highlight of my career um and does that still stand it does yeah yeah um and then it’s 64 for um a nonmember or a pro around here a lady Pro yeah yeah wow that’s probably the two highlights I think um but just playing so many years here for the scratch team and just enjoying golf here over the years has been amazing um and obviously playing so many times for the county I’m very proud of that um something very special to me yeah brilliant 65 65 around here how many birdies did you have in that um I had eight birdies eight birdies eight birdies and two three puts could have been 59 great shot we’ve got 145 we got a little bit of a a gnarly lie here so it’s it is downwind I only realistically need to land it 135 which I think out of this rough and with this wind he playing like one 125 so I think if I get my 50 out I know I’m not going to go long with this and need to be aggressive cuz cla’s just hit a great one and if she up and downs it she’s got a shot ah don’t go right on [Music] me well I got all my thms right the ball just went off at a right angle just what you need just what you need came out a bit funny that it was a not the best lie but hey good news is we’re having a great time cla’s not only a good it was that looked so good it just chopped over the lip didn’t it good God is it me or I think it’s probably just on you yeah what are you there for I’m there for four that three four half half I think that sounds happy with that a good deal to me good deal there we go we get away with it folks we get away with it why do you always knock it in when you’re not trying right got away with that one a little bit there I thought it was in trouble big time what what you think the prediction is now Claire what’s the score uh you’re still one up aren’t you yeah well I’m going to be F till the end mat but I’m not feeling super confident no you’ll have what three shots four shots left maybe uh one two three one two three where will you get them 15 15 17 18 all right okay right 298 this I’m not not listening to Cloud not going to be goed got a bunker at 240 up the right to get past so just a four iron should leave it Shy try and cut it well out chunk and run don’t look at the divot on that one it’ll might make you a bit ill I told you you should have gone with your [Laughter] drive oh God hold your line softly softly yeah so unfortunately this is sitting right down here but knowing how good my friend is with his shots into the green I’ve got to try and get this up there somewhere I may my lift regret it that’s a great golf shot wow sit sit go off stop stop stop go off just over but great shot thank you well played thank you lovely shot imagine being able to start a wedge online oh Sim Sim it sorry great birdie thank you great birdie don’t think we’ll be coming back Joe I know I felt the daggers in the back of my head yeah get him out of here 2 3 68 bunkers at 250 are they from memory yeah 250 to get by may as well hit this and go in with a long one I’ll do fabulous shop thank you softly softly yeah got it I think I’m up against it here so I’ve got to try and get this out Joe mat is sitting absolutely perfectly so I’ve got to try and get this over these bunkers just to give myself a shot into the green so we’ll have another go that’s very well out of that well it’s out quite where I want it to be softly sit down pep talk don’t you let us down CL oh no one place you can’t go Matt where have you gone left just going have to take a drop here Matt just going to have to take a drop here well unfortunately Joe I’ve just tugged it out of the roof there into this very nice uh GS Bush here so I’ve just taken a a drop uh two two Club lanks from uh the place where the ball was sitting and um I’ve got 67 to the pin the only good thing is I think Matt has missed the green so I’ll try and capitalize on that that looks like a very good shot shot great shot get it straight down the throat won it right so we got a bit of a Swale to contend with here so all about
