It has been a race full of emotions, decisions, and excitement: This Sunday afternoon, the Team Malizia skipper crossed the finish line of the New York Vendée in second place, achieving consecutive second place finishes in this year’s transatlantic solo challenges, and final test before the Vendée Globe at the end of the year.
About Sunday’s arrival Boris added: “It’s fantastic to see the team and share this moment with them, they all came out on chase boats to greet me! It’s so good to be back, and also such a big contrast to the peaceful quietness I’ve experienced before.It’s beautiful to see how many people come here to celebrate sailing. I think it’s unique in the world to have so many people coming out to welcome us, and it’s a beautiful day for it. It’s such a fantastic welcome. Really incredible, thank you for this.”

[Music] this coming in was really nice with lots of boats around on the drive along the shore I had ghost fors down and I was like wheelie mode all the way easy and then coming really fast from the hot mline into the finish and uh that was a bit exciting [Music] so welcome to theab today the whole team is very in to welcome Boris because he going to finish second hopefully of the race so we’re going to meet him on the water [Music] [Applause] [Music] that’s only in this that you have so many people looking at sailing I’m super happy with the race um arriving second um congrats to Charlie uh what a fantastic race for him and I couldn’t have a better arrival than uh being here today with sunshine on a Sunday afternoon lots of people in the saulon [Music] [Applause] [Music] we had this front that we needed to escape from that from that moment on I thought the North Route was would be better for me I doubted a little bit at some stage because it was just uh it just looked crazy on the chart I could have of course just kind of Ted and go behind Charlie but I think for everyone it would have been a less exciting race myself [Music] included this race uh we achieved what I was hoping for to have confidence to be quiet in the summer to not doubt our choices and so now we just service about a little bit leave everything as it is and then take the start of the book [Music] [Applause]

Herzlichen Glückwunsch für den 2. Platz. Ein gebührender Empfang für den tollsten Segler ever. Boris hat den wahren Sportsgeist. Auch die Entscheidung für die Nordroute war sehr mutig und sicherlich gut durchdacht. Und auch Hochachtung für dieses Team, was hinter Boris steht. Ich war noch nie auf einem Segelboot, aber kann mich beim Zuschauen dermaßen für den Segelsport begeistern. Ich freue mich schon jetzt auf die Vendée Globe.
