so this is it football fans it is Euro week England leave for Germany this lunchtime but ahead of their tournament opener on Sunday Captain Harry Kane has a warning for the squad our chief reporter K solico and Senior reporter Rob Dorset are live for us in Germany this morning and we can head now to Rob first who’s close to England’s training base Rob England will arrive there a bit later on today there’s been a bit of a rally cry from their Captain can you tell us about that please yeah there really has but so it begins the excitement levels are mounting aren’t they on the day that England fly out to begin their tournament but you’re quite right the Fallout from Friday night’s wful defeat at Wembley to Iceland is still continuing uh the captain Harry Kane has been talking to the English newspapers after that game they’ve decided to publish those quotes today in today’s morning newspapers and I think you have to say it’s pretty revealing what he had to say let’s show you exactly what the England Captain has said there probably wasn’t enough hunger in the jewels he says in the second balls and winning those they are a big important part being so close in the last Euros though there is a real hunger to be back it comes around quick if I’m honest we had the World Cup and we’re back here again I feel like we’re on the right path he goes on to say of course there will be some noise about it that defeat to Iceland a team ranked 72 in the world rankings remember but he says I think there is a lot of optimism from the fans and rightly so ultimately it is down to us to make sure we get it right on the pitch this could be a nice wakeup call for everyone to realize it’s not going to be as easy as people think there is a lot of work to do so you have to say that’s pretty honest and pretty revealing from the England Captain saying there’s a lot of work still to do uh and there was a lack of hunger against Iceland only six days to go now before England begin Euros campaign against Serbia the first game of Group C and that work begins properly today once the England squad get out here to Germany so so when exactly Rob do they fly out and obviously the training base is very important what will they find when they get there well look the squad were given Saturday and some of the weekend off with their families a final bit of rest and relaxation before the the busy work starts proper so they’ve joined up again with the England squad and they will fly out here around lunch time time expect them to get to their training base around tea time and you should get used to the name effort by the way cuz that’s what we’re based with the media we’re going to be here for hopefully the next month or more and the reason we’re not at the England training base itself which is about 20 miles away from here is that this is the closest town England are in the middle of nowhere in a luxury spa and golf resort called Viara land very closely guarded high security around there I don’t think they’re going to get many fans around there because it has an 18-hole golf of course which Harry Kane and some of his mates will absolutely love assuming they’re allowed to play it there’s a spa there’s training pitches all the sorts of luxury facilities you would imagine in fact by all accounts it’s the best training base in Germany it’s the one Germany themselves use they were using it up until a couple of days before England are due to fly there um but they’re not basing themselves here because their opening game is in Munich and and it’s not a an ideal location for them so you just wonder what state they’ve left it in don’t you I wonder if they scuffed scuffed up the training pitches for England before they came out here big job for the fa to turn it round so quickly get all the branding in place get the bedrooms personalized for the players which they like to do for these major tournaments um but it’s a a good central location as far as Gareth Southgate is concerned away from the masses away from all of the towns and a good base to to go to the games from here so England get here later this afternoon after that just four training days before their group c campaign begins Rob thank you very much for now now believe it or not car is also in Germany pouring with rain where he is in Munich yeah but the umbrella Brave the rain now car England’s final warm-up match has left a few fans feeling a little bit deflated but can we still say they’re amongst the favorites to win the tournament well I think if you speak to most people in Germany uh not a lot of them would say that England are the favorites I think quite a lot of them would say look we respect England of course they’re a very good side and they’ve got a pretty decent chance of winning the Euros but of course they’ve never won the Euros before I think if you’re looking uh at who’s going to win this tournament it could well be one of The Usual Suspects I’m thinking of countries like Spain Italy uh Germany you know those kind of countries who’ve won it in the past but the Euros sometimes you do get surprises uh you know I’m old enough to remember Denmark uh winning it in 1992 Greece won it in 2004 so I think it is a pretty open tournament and England have got a pretty decent chance but no more than that yeah I remember Greece as well that was incredible wasn’t it one of the most amazing things I I’ve ever seen in football so in general what sort of a tournament are you expecting in Germany car well I’m expecting uh the weather to get a bit better uh once the tournament kicks off next week but look it’s going to be I think a real football tournament it’s what football fans have been missing because I think since Euro 2016 we haven’t had a big tournament in one country and of course Germany has got a fantastic football culture football history uh all the stadiums that are being used were already built uh nine out of the 10 stadiums were used in the World Cup which was here in 2006 so if you’re a football fan I think you’re really going to to enjoy this Tournament of course uh Last Time Around the World Cup was in Qatar not many England fans could go the World Cup before that 2018 was in Russia again only 2 3,000 England fans went to that one this is going to be a real football festival and obviously if you’re English you’ll be hoping that England do pretty well absolutely and it’s a great place to have a tournament isn’t it thank you Carvey I’m sure the weather will perk up at some point [Music]

There are always shock results in tournaments (e.g. England 1-2 Iceland 2016). Let's hope England are not on the wrong end of one again. I certainly don't make England favorites, but who knows ?
The trouble with Gareth “Woke” Southgate, he is so much for inclusion and diversity I am surprised he hasn’t named a green haired, non binary player in the squad !!!!
But it's ok the Bookie's have engerland winning it! Believe in your own hype media TV Blowing smoke up your arses, Overrated underachievers bottlers, with no skill or craft nor ambition, you'll be found out in another tournament been crowing since dodgy 66" "we're gonna win the cooooup " english arrogance in abundance no wonder the rest of Europe and the world for that matter despse you's!
You need a top manager to win anything, England will win nothing.
COME ON ENGLAND 🏴
Hey Kaveh. Remember three weeks ago when you reported ten hag was getting sacked for sure.
Low hanging fruit, beat the teams ranked below you in the rankings, especially at home. If this team is as deep and as talented as many believe a loss at home should be troublesome at this stage. Southgate has come out of his comfort zone, England's historic comfort zone of over valuing experience over talent. "Let no one look down on your youth." The squad chosen are inform at their club level, Shaw is a gamble with lack of fitness and others played themselves off the team hoping that Southgate would pick them anyway, ops! Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford! Hunger and youth be served! Even if it doesn't pan out this time round the young Lions will have gained valuable experience for the next go round! Win, win!
Maguire, Maguire, Maguire! a throw back, a dinosaur, large, plodding, and slow. Modern football, back like has to be quick, nimble and mobile. Comfortable with the ball at their feet. After all, this is football! If transitions is key on the counter, your 'D" has to be able to get the ball up the pitch to the attacking players by demonstrating the ability to carry the ball with pace, pass with accuracy, and be a constant attacking threat in their own right. If you're lacking in those qualities you can't be on the team. Even goalie should possess elite on ball skills.
it's coming home…..
it's coming home…..
Stop, cease, and desist taring goalies to punch the ball out of danger into danger. Goalies should at all time should want to possess the ball, CATCH IT. Much like a wide receiver in American football he catches the ball in traffic, under duress, and when contested. Why punch the ball and more often than not give your opponent another crack at goal? You're hands can reach above any opponents head including Cristiano Ronaldo. You're the only player on the pitch that can use his/her hands to defend goal, why punch it away?!
In the women's game I've notice this obsession for defenders to pass backwards to the goalie, many times it ends up in the back of the net or at the very least gives up a scoring chance. Why do they insist on playing back to the goal. Seems like a dangerous way to pad time of possession states.
Those Kane comments were quite revealing indeed.
No blooDy chance cant defend
England is a big footballing nation. I can't imagine them doing such kind of acts against blacks in the squad.
First of all, why take away Sakas number 7. So much disrespectful.
Then put him on the bench, loose the game then use Saka as scape goat!!! Shame
Why isn't Harry Maguire in the squad? We will miss his headed goals!! I just worry about the lack in depth of England strikers.
No one will watch sky sports news during the tournament if it's live on BBC / itv there's no point they are trying their best because they can't show it live they need to consertrate on the summer sports😂😢
Not sure what everyone is stressing about…so what they lost to Iceland…come Sunday all will be forgotten…theres friendlies and there tournament football…England players have a point to proove to themselves…Southgate can only do so much he can only prepare them as best as possible….The players need to grow some balls and get themselves over the line and bring it home…they need to take responsibility and own there recent poor performance and be accountable for it.
It's not happened yet
It's already home, it's already home, it's staying!
Germany from Rome
It's already home, it's already home, it's staying!
I'm backing Scotland to win
COME ON YOU ENGLAND BOYS!!
