[FULL] NFL LIVE | Adam Schefter latest on CeeDee Lamb is skipping OATs: Cowboys are in trouble?
welcome to NFL live before the summer break 10 teams in mini camp and plenty of storylines in Dallas and San Francisco bigname receivers not present with CD lamb and Brandon auk looking for contracts plus wait until you hear what Michael Parson said about his new defensive coordinator also Stefon Diggs spoke for the first time as a Tex and find out why his new new quarterback is pumped up plus will fill you in on how top pick Caleb Williams is looking at Bears mini camp with that welcome to the studio Kevin n here alongside Lewis rdick Booger McFarland and Adam shefer and let’s start with our top stories here shefy what’s the latest here with brand and iuk still not at mandatory mini camp Kevin he is going to be subject to over $100,000 worth of fines but Brandon aayu also could be close to cashing in on a contract that would make those fines move he wants a new deal we’ve seen a lot of wide receivers get new deals big deals I believe that he is in their category the issue is the Niners also drafted a wide receiver in round one and already have paid Christian mcaffrey like a wide receiver as for the Cowboys and their wide receiver CD Lam also not at mandatory mini camp also subject to fines exceeding $100,000 he had been waiting for the Justin Jefferson deal to get done and now that it has we see the numbers a $35 million annual average $110 million in guaranteed money DD lamb views himself in the Justin Jefferson category conversation which is why he waited and now Dallas will see if it could figure out a way to get done a deal with its number one wide receiver in an off season in which the Cowboys are supposed to be all in listen Mike McCarthy doesn’t sign the checks he doesn’t write them out but he was asked about entering a season with this much uncertainty here’s what he said uh this is the urgency you should always have to be honest um so so maybe guys who normally wouldn’t fill it fill it um so so I don’t mind it I’ve been in this position before I’m a Gambling Man we’ll gamble on myself I mean obviously CD’s handling business nobody’s more more in his Corner than I am understanding that that that’s his chess move and he’s got to do that so um I know him I know he’s been working as I said I’ve thrown with him so uh some of these guys be being able to get in there and take those reps right me and honestly growing my confidence of them okay that was not Mike McCarthy that is Dak Prescott talking about his situation his approach this summer Dallas has some big decisions to make look at these Cowboys out of a contract in nine months you got Dak you got CD lamb you got DeMarcus Lawrence and the list goes on and on and of course let’s not forget about Micah Parson’s extension eligible the centerpiece of the Cowboys defense is only under contract through 2025 back here with the guys leis when you look at all these guys waiting to get paid where do you have CD lamb as a priority look he’s right near the very top I mean obviously quarterback always trumps all as far as trying to get that position squared away but look there’s a reason why wide receiver has become basically the second most valuable position on an NFL roster and just look at it just go look at the college game and I’ve talked to many coaches who have talked about this the fact that wide receiver has really surpassed pass Ruster in terms of importance to an overall roster for two reasons one because of the role that he plays in the development in the production and the efficiency of the quarterback which is the most important guy on the football field and two a secondary benefit that really quite honestly it makes sense from a business perspective you want to attract more players score points how do you score points quickly in the NFL and in college you throw the football and you produce explosive plays how do you get more fans in the seats how do you get more fans buying season tickets score points have an explosive offense how who does that for you w receiv do it for you and then really just look at yesterday honestly man me and Zim probably said a total of 20 words to each other yeah he’s he’s a he’s a very quiet person and all I keep hearing from the coaches like Zim likes it this way I was like well I like it this way like you know so I can’t wait to have like my true like sit down with them I think it’ll be pretty cool cuz obviously old school mindset old school mentality um but you know I think he has a lot of great players but he ain’t never have a mic before he never had a Micah before I love it love the confidence B and he backs it up how does Zimmer’s defense fit here with the Cowboys defensive Personnel led by Micah Parsons yeah well first of all Michel Parson can can fit in any defense and and I think if if you’re Zimmer you’re just trying to figure out a creative way to use him and put him in the best position possible I I think he should be a defensive end every play but multiple times he’s lined up at off the ball lineb and Blitz and things of that nature but Zimmer is smart Zimmer understands this defense right now is built on speed so he has to use their speed to their advantage they’re going to have to get better at linebacker Deone Clark is the name that’s going to be key to this defense Michael Parson is going to get all the attention but how Deone Clark plays in the middle of this defense will be key they got to get a little bit bigger up front they got the ball ran down their throw against the Green Bay Packers and so I think if you’re a Zimmer you got to figure out a way how can we be Stout on first and second down periodically to get to third down we can unleash this speed and rush the passer Zimmer is a veteran coordinator he will figure it out we all know him for the double a gap blitzers but I promise you he’s got a lot more to his package than that yeah this isn’t this isn’t something really that Mike’s going to come up with some kind of special scheme to make up for any deficiencies like they had last year and B’s exactly right like he Mike’s going to play Gap sound very fundamental friendly sound defense most defensive coordinators in the NFL do the NFL is about players though and really I’ve said all offseason Dallas is issue on the defensive side of the football is a Personnel issue and book again look he is right Deone Clark has to rise up and be a player de marban overon their third round pick of a year ago from Texas who got hurt in training camp with an ACL who was an absolute just stick of dynamite waiting waiting to unleash on people he has to show up Maris leapfile the the draft pick out of Notre Dame has to show up Eric Kendrick has to show up this year these guys have to play and they have to play big and they have to play physical and they have to play downhill Mike Zimmer is not a magician he’s a coach he’s a fundamentally sound coach that has coached some great players in this league and he’ll find a way to utilize Michael Parsons to the fullest but they better make sure that everyone else steps up and I hope that they they’ve corrected their personnel issues because if not Mike Zimmer ain’t going to be the one who’s going to step out there and put pads on well let’s hope that Personnel actually wished him a happy birthday today because Mike Zimmer is celebrating his 68th birthday and of course having Micah Parson in Camp could make the guys smile here all right we let’s go to the 49ers here we got video coming in on social media by Brandon auk he’s not at the 49ers mini camp training with the team he’s training on his own in his message fifth day of otaa so he’s doing his own mini camp here there’s Buzz around the future of iuk Kyle Shanahan talked about the chemistry building between Brock pie and the guy they just drafted in the first round Ricky Piel it’s been fun to watch both of them I know you know Brock doesn’t always get to watch how the route gets there but he knows when guys end up in the right spot and they catch it that’s where quarterbacks get comfortable and I think he can feel that with rooky right away I he’s been getting to the right spot and when he has made mistakes he understands it and corrects it and uh I think that’s why those guys are going to have a lot of fun working together this system is a quarterback’s dream so much fun look at the pass catchers here proven Commodities with auk Debo George KD out of connection with peera in the slot life could be pretty darn good for Brock pie and we haven’t even mentioned the newly extended Christian mcaffrey we will get to that in a moment but back here with the fellas Lewis when you look at the group here how does peol fit and what does it mean now for the future of byuk and Debo as 49ers yeah look I I think Ricky Pier Hall is a three position player really is a four position player he can play both outside spots he can play the slot he can line up in the back field and run routes from there who does that who’s the guy who’s a utility guy like that for San Francisco that’s Debo’s role so quite honestly look you you have to figure that John Lynch was thinking ahead Kyle Shanahan was thinking ahead we have to have a guy who can fill those multiple positions they drafted another guy in the fourth round and Jacob cowing who no one’s talking about right now but Arizona at Arizona this guy is just lightning in a bottle he’s another guy who can work the interior of the field between the numbers with blazing speed great separation great hands run after the catch to me it sounds like they’re preparing for look if they’re preparing for the eventual Exodus of one of these guys to me it sounds like they’re preparing for the eventual Exodus of Debo Samuel because Brandon is more of an outside Lane guy who can win down the field one-on-one that’s my read on it we’ll see what happens yeah I completely agree if you look at the ey Man Out in San Francisco based on where they are uh it’s it’s got to be Debo Samuel and there’s nothing against Debo because Debo has been electric but a lot of what Debo has done has been schemed through and schemed up by Kyle Shanahan and I get it he’s a tremendous athlete but think about all the the the toss sweeps of him playing tailback the Y receiver screens the little jet sweeps getting him the football Lewis you talked about in the first segment with the Cowboys this is a receiver League trying to get big plays going down the field where if that’s the case you need a receiver that can get down the field and get vertical no longer we trying to throw these little jet sweeps we’re trying to throw the football 15 20 30 40 yards down the field and quite frankly that’s not Debo strong suit Ricky peer saww is a guy you go back to University of Florida we all know him for the acrobatic catches and he made a ton of them but he can run all the routes he is acceleration in the bottle he will be able to open this offense up even more and with the signing now of of Christian mcaffrey to an extension you can see where this offense is going to go it’s going to be pick your poison okay either you’re going to stop the run and stop mcaffrey or we’re now going to be able to line up if you play a single high safety assuming auk is there auk and Pura will be able to Route run you to death and get open and now all Brock py got to do is play action pass and throw the football down in oneon-one coverage so I love what they’re doing they’re creating chunk plays by bringing in a guy like Ricky peaw and they’re making the game a lot easier often times the 49ers it was too difficult for them to score with Debo because it was like we got to plot and plot and plot down the field now I can see this offense becoming way more explosive guys and that’s a scary sight for the NFL yeah Piel so versatile and so tough at that position and if you’re going to watch him 49ers fans get ready to see a guy who’s wearing pants but it looks like shorts because he pulls them thing those those those knee pads all the way up to right underneath his thighs and it makes him actually look faster and long longer just enjoy it because the kid they those 6 in shorts G that’s what we wear down in Florida 6 in shorts do you notice Louis he’s saying we there’s no way we will see Bo in six in shorts I don’t want I I want I I want to see you I want to see you or maybe I don’t you’re right maybe I don’t want to see go ahead encourage it don’t encourage it leis because we’re just getting started here on NFL live we don’t need to see six shorts from Booger McFarland we need to see other things though stefhon dicks begins his journey with the Texans will this pairing come to backfire on Houston booger is going to tell us how to keep well Patriots continuing their OTAs under first year head coach Gerard Mayo when they drafted Drake May third overall in April the vibe felt like they were taking things slow with the Carolina quarterback May currently taking second team reps new OC Alex Van Pelt on the rookie you know we always talk about earning your reps around here so as he continues to grow and and have successful practices and start stacking those then we could think about moving them up the depth chart when those decisions are made and it’ll be made together uh you know as a group with Elliot and Coach Mayo um but when that time comes we’ll see but there is no timetable on when that time comes jacobe again is our starter and he’s playing excellent football for us in the spring and and Drake is coming on I think it’s a battle you know me and Mee and Bailey you know we’re battling so uh mixing up who who goes with who each day and um you know not necess hey you’re going first or going second um you know the Kobe’s getting first and then um you know from there we’re just uh playing by year obious see how it uh matters how you do you know when you’re in there so that’s what happen Bailey referring to Bailey zappy you’re back here with Lewis booger and shefy so Lewis when May’s taken second team reps what does that mean to you look Gerard Mayo already has stated and Alex just alluded to it that what you do with the Reps that you get initially will have a direct correlation to how many more reps you wind up getting in the future and the fact that they’re giving him second team reps tells you he’s doing something with the Reps that he’s already gotten and namely that is he’s mastering them not having repeated mistakes and he’s continuing to build and grow and look they have their eye on the future too I mean you didn’t draft him in order for him to go ahead and just continually take reps behind brassette and Bailey zappy they’re getting him ready for the future and they also want to get him running with the guys who they know are going to play an integral role this offense namely the wide receivers guys like Jaylen pul like guys like Javon Baker you want to get him live well not necessarily Li but you want to get him seven on seven and 11 on rep 11 on 11 reps with those guys because those are the guys who he’s going to be throwing to it’s the same thing they did in Green Bay with Jordan love it’s the same way you bring him along you bring him along you earn more you give him more he’s he’s going to be in there it’s not it’s not a matter of if it’s a matter of when and it sounds like he’s starting to put the gas he’s starting to press the accelerator so to speak on of his development and say hey look Alex vanel Gerard Mayo Elliot wolf I need to be in there a little bit more which is pretty cool to see yeah it’s definitely pretty cool to see I I I think the more reps he can get the more times he can get under Center call the Cadence take the drop and do all those different things I think the better for him because we know that Drake May is the future but I think when you look at the macro picture the bigger picture for the Patriots it comes down to this are we trying to win games now because if that’s the case Drake May will not start the season as a starting quarterback or are we preparing for 2025 because if that’s the case then it doesn’t matter who you put at quarterback you may as well go ahead and put Drake May in there so he can get ready and get all the Reps he can go I think that’s the ultimate question that Elliot wolf gerro mayo and the Patriots organization have to ask themselves are we willing to deal with the growing pains in 2024 even if that means going four and 13 Even if that means being the Laughing stalk of the leave even if that means picking number one overall realizing that we will be better off for it in 2025 because you can’t do both you’re not going to be able to try to win games and also groom Drake may you got to figure out what you’re going to do at some point they have to make that decision I would do it sooner than later but it’s not my choice well you say sooner rather than later boo but the truth of the matter is they don’t have to rush to put in Drake May before he’s ready if you spoke to Personnel people around the league they all believe that Drake May needed some time to get ready to learn systems to move on up before he was ready to play again and so the Patriots went out and signed the perfect quarterback to hold down that position until Drake May is ready because jacobe Brett can be a solid successful starting quarterback in this league he’s already proven that and he’s done it even in New England they know what they’re getting and so he will hold down that position until the time is absolutely right and they feel completely comfortable with the idea that Drake May will wind up playing and we may not see Drake May until the end of the 2024 season yep now keep in mind the Patriots historically haven’t used a high draft pick on a quarterback in a very long time May’s only the third quarterback they’ve taken in the top three in the last 60 drafts joining only Drew bledo and Jim plunket all right let’s continue the conversation about quarterback as we continue here on NFL live Kevin aandhi with your second overall pick Jaden Daniels getting his share of reps looking sharp during Commander OTAs and Cliff Kings Berry’s offense first year head coach Dan Quinn on the 2023 Heisman winner the situation work we’ve been working really hard on and so some of the timing and mechanics are different from college in a two-minute setting than it is in the NFL and so to see every day him going through those mechanics at a two minutes so the other day of um you know at the end of the half working down working down in a clock situation where it’s still moving on a first down and so like that type of urgency and so seeing him being comfortable in that environment I would say that’s uh one example of many uh that shows the work that he’s putting in not a long track record of Washington playing rookie quarterbacks in season openers the Commander’s franchise has only done it three times since 1950 and RG3 the only one in the Super Bowl era uh Lewis and back here with the guys you hear what Quinn was saying specifically with Daniels impressing in the two-minute drill here when you hear that what kind of expectations do you have Daniels in this offense over the next three months when it comes to leading up to the season opener look it’s hard not to get super excited Kevin about about Jadon Daniels and I think everyone knows how I feel about him and how he accepted the challenge at LSU mastered it became the Heisman Trophy winner he’s going to accept the challenge now of playing on football team where three fifths of the offensive line is going to be new they have you know one of the most dynamic wide receivers in the NFL and Terry McLaren jiad Dodson is a playmaker in his own right they draft Ben cinate out of out of Kansas state who’s a fantastic athlete at tight end and they got Austin Eckler so he’s got some help and a developing offensive line so those things have to kind of work around him but as far as himself and what he is doing look you’ve seen some of the clips that the commanders have put out there in terms of some of the throws that he has made already in OTAs and it’s spectacular and I’ve had correspondence with people down there who have said look very rarely does the ball hit the ground he puts the ball exactly in where it needs to be put he can throw with touch he can throw with velocity he is a student of the game and he is someone I think most importantly Kevin that the players will gravitate towards already they want to be around him they want to be accountable to him they want to do better for him that’s pretty damn cool he is going to take that town by storm as everything else around him grows along with him I have 100% confidence in that well listen you heard Lewis talk about all those examples and you heard Dan Quinn talk about how many examples of there are where situations were that Jaden Daniels impressed and so this job is setting up for Jaden Daniels to win to be the opening day starting quarterback and they’ve made it that way too they already had a lot of Talent on the offensive side of the football and if you look at the coaching staff that they put in place at least five of the assisant coaches on the offensive side of the football have directly coached quarterbacks at some point in their past they’re all experienced in working with quarterbacks they’re all invested in making Jaden Daniel shine he’s got the ability to do it and it’s setting up for him to be able to show that on opening day to become the face of this franchise moving forward bo uh you know this is an LSU to LSU question when we we watch Jaden Daniels on film all last season he can move and that is something he’s going to need when you look at this offensive line what concerns do you have about the guys protecting him well there’s always concerns especially about this offensive line but I I think it’s important to know that Jaden Daniels his athletic ability will buy this offensive line sometime and and and and another another thing ke his ability to get rid of the ball as quick as he did let’s let’s understand he was the ultimate playmaker at LSU last year I mean he had to make plays up and down the field he had to make plays in and out of the pocket and all he did was do it over and over time and time again his pause in the pocket because he wants to be a pocket passer will allow him to get rid of the ball quick his motion is compact he delivers the ball accurately but if in wi this offensive line does break down I think that’s when we’re going to see what some compared to the second coming of Lamar Jackson because let me tell you Kev he is electric when he gets out of the pocket the only thing he has to learn is you can’t take big hits slide get out of bounds sometimes he’s too confident in that athletic ability yeah and he will have a reality check in the NFL on a Sunday especially in the opener if he plays and he doesn’t do that slide you bring up Lamar Jackson Lamar’s done a phenomenal job job of protecting his body and fully aware of sliding at the right time Adam let’s now go to the uh top stories here and and and some other things you’re tracking the Browns rewarding the head coach in the GM phison yeah Kevin this is something the Browns have planned and worked on for quite some time it’s been in the work works for months they’ve extended both their general manager Andrew Barry and their head coach Kevin stefansky and so a franchise that has been a model of instability in the past now is taking the wise step of keeping things intact extending their head coach extending their GM and keeping them in place for years to come meanwhile Nick chub spoke today for the first time since he suffered that gruesome knee injury on Monday Night Football he said he does not have a timeline on when to return to practice he is running though that is encouraging and the fact that he’s reworked his contract and wants to come back I think is a big victory for that particular franchise right now and then lastly Assan reic the defensive end Edge rusher that the Jets traded for this off season has not shown up skipping voluntary OTAs wants that new contract and that was really part of the reason here that the Eagles traded a player who was so good and so productive because they couldn’t afford to pay him they’ve passed that off to the Jets the Jets get the great player but they know they have to do something nothing’s been done yet and so Assan reic so far is a noow with his new team yeah keep in mind reic 50 and a half sacks over the last four years no one has more in the NFC now making his new life there in the AFC if a deal gets done let’s stay here specifically with the Eagles conversation and that defensive line new on NFL I Brandon Graham one of the leaders in the locker room had this to say on the eagle struggles last season I I really think that last year um we just didn’t we that’s what we didn’t have uh we didn’t have all the right coaches in the right position you know I would say you just Noti this little stuff uh last year on certain stuff you wasn’t on the same page about this here and there uh it will pop up but it popped up in a big way that last game and it’s just like if I anything I learn um you always want to make sure that we just had a proper communication so there’s real big communication going on right now BG saying a lot there Lewis they brought in a new coordinators on both sides does the new DC Vic fangio really cure the Eagles defensive issues this upcoming season well let’s just put it this way there will be no miscommunication okay it’s one voice on the defensive side you’re not going to have him be replaced midseason and have someone else kind of come in there and then really try and tweak what the other guy was doing while you demoted the other guy and put him up in the boot there’s going to be none of that and see you know what Kev this is one of the things these are these are like the hidden issues that exist in football overall whether you’re talking about the NFL college or even high school that really does contribute to winning and losing in a way that I don’t know if fans really always you know give enough respect to or rather give enough Credence to when you’re not on the same page especially on defense especially in a league where now you have guys that can just absolutely rip you for 90 because you had some kind of miscommunication issue you you have to have people on the same page you have to have a coach because we say all the time on the defensive side B knows this if we’re wrong we all got to be wrong and all be wrong at the same time when people are doing different things like obviously was the case last year you have no shot and we can talk about miscommunication sometimes also Lewis what players do is they Ed the well we just lined up wrong we all didn’t play the right defense there was miscommunication no here’s what happened the Eagles weren’t as good last year the defensive line didn’t dominate the way they did the year before some players didn’t live up to the billing that they should have they didn’t play as well and so we can blame it on miscommunication to keep our eyes off the physical aspect of it but physically technically skill-wise their defense wasn’t as good Hoy Roseman has never paid attention from a standpoint of of the second level which is the linebacker position their linebackers weren’t as good and so now you bring in vic fangio who’s Vic is Vic is gonna have a really good defense if scheme he’s going to make sure everybody’s lined up where they go but at some point the players on the field in that front seven particularly that defensive line those guys have got to show up in play Jordan Davis can you get in shape Jaylen Carter can you be in shape those guys have got to dominate and quite frankly last year they didn’t so we can change the coordinator we can change the communication we can all be on the same page the wrong page it doesn’t matter if your team is built for your defensive line to dominate and they don’t your defense is not going to be good ask the 49ers you ask Indianapolis you ask any team that’s built their defense from Back to Front inside out those guys up front have got to dominate Kevin I’ll be honest with you your Eagles were very soft at the point of attack and they didn’t get after the passer last year buddy mhm I got nothing put it this way but but you know but when you stack on look I agree with you I mean they’re going to be better uh Personnel wise this year but when you stack on the kind of dysfunction that was running through that side of the ball in that room in the defensive meeting room last year I mean you absolutely have no shot yep it’s hard enough to like hey it’s like the good old saying you can’t win in the NFL in spite of you have to try you have to win because they were just trying to win in spite of all that mess going on yeah it’s impossible and many of the players at a certain point didn’t want to be there and you could see it especially in prime time in that postseason game against the Bucs and the defensive side they were on their way to Cancun shefy you got something to add here to this conversation well the funny thing is it’s starting this season with Vic vanio and the reason that much of that happened last season was because of Vic vanio even though he wasn’t there because at the end of the year the Super Bowl run ran so late they lose Jonathan Ganon they wanted to keep Vic fangio but he didn’t know whether the job was going to be open he took the job in Miami as the Dolphins defensive coordinator they got a late start on hiring a defensive coordinator we all know how that worked out and so this off season lo and behold they go back to where they should have been last year and bringing the guy who would have helped the defense last year to restore order this year yeah fio coming full Circle to a Philly guy that grew up watching Philly’s games now coaching the Eagles and to BG’s point they invested heavily on that defensive front the first round with those Georgia dogs they have to step up with pleter Cox retiring great conversation still to come skills players getting big money during the off season what’s the latest on the guys who get them the ball Chey gets us caught up on contracts for Lawrence Tua and love that’s ahead this is NFL live we start in Chicago Caleb wood Willams is in his first mini camp this week Matt E flu talked about some of the struggles today sometimes it’s really good coverage uh you know there’s guys guys that have been around and been with each other for a while so they understand our coverage Concepts and how they complement each other and uh they’re on point in terms of that most of the time so some of it’s that and then we just got to turn it into a scramble drill you know so we have to do make that real um because we will have some of that um he’s very effective at that now obviously one you know drop back and process and deliver the ball but he is uh remarkable when it comes to throwing the ball on the move so we have to use that as a weapon force and that’s going to be uh really good for our defense too back here with the guys Lewis any concerns for Williams or is this all just part of the process no it’s it’s it’s just part of the growth look this was something that Caleb was aware of all during the pre-draft process was the fact that he wanted to get better in the pocket and with reps that will will come his ability to get through progressions make quick decisions and not have to have every play being off scheduled play that’s something that he knows is going to improve and he wants to improve and I have no look we’re we haven’t even played a game we haven’t even played preseason game yet you’ll be just fine he’s a spectacular Prospect all right let’s go to Miami Tu a tangoa and see that’s the word while waiting on a new deal potentially has not done 11 on 11 drills in C Mike McDaniel asked if that continues how it could impact the offense for me to think okay is that even on the the radar for being a possibility of an issue like that I I’m not worried about that being the case I also can’t say that wouldn’t be the case I don’t again I I try to stay in my Lane to do um do what two is counting on me to do which is uh get him better in every way shape and form and you that’s what we’ll be doing today B should the Dolphins pay two a top Market quarterback money right now well he’s going to be 50 million plus is he going to be up there around the the 55 or 60 I don’t know care but when you get a five in the first number does it really matter what the second number is that’s what I would say to him Tua has earned it the Dolphins have already come out and said they’re going to pay him uh this offense ran uh because Tu was so accurate and so precise he going to get his bag just relax Tua for some it could matter I mean that’s somebody else’s checkbook let’s get Chey in here now let’s stay on Tua as you take us through the latest on a couple of quarterbacks awaiting deals here well if it didn’t matter the deal would be done by now and it’s not only not done but two is not going through the 11 on 11 drills right now so they’re not close enough to have them back on the field but the Dolphins want to get this deal done Tua wants to get this deal done but this is a complicated deal I think in part because of his injury history and some of the things that have happened in the past so it’s up to both sides to figure out a structure that they’re comfortable with in terms of guaranteed money to move forward but look he’s going to be there they want him there and now it’s up to both sides to figure it out which is what the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence have been working on doing as well they have continued to talk also knowing that this deal is going to get done Doug Peterson the Jaguars head coach said himself recently that he expects this deal to get done just not done at this point in time but I think by training camp the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence are hopeful that this deal will get done the same is true for the Green Bay Packers and Jordan love they both want to get this deal done it was just over a year ago that the Packers essentially extended Jordan love reworked that contract they want to do it again especially after the year that he had last year when he looked like one of the best young quarterbacks in football when it looked like they hit pay dirt again on another quarterback when it looked like they could conceivably go from Brit Farm to Aaron Rogers to Jordan love I don’t know that there’s any team in the league that has had that type of quarterback continuity success to your point no one made more money in the final two months of the season the postseason than Jordan love after what he did answering a ton of questions and potentially now the next franchise quarterback shefy thank you so much here on the pro back here on NFL live Kevin nandi with you the Texans right now according to ESPN B have the third best odds to win the AFC had a very big off season adding Joe Mixon denil Hunter Stefan Diggs here’s CJ STR on Diggs arrival in Houston man he’s come in and and been a leader which which I’m proud of him for and you know just really has been unselfish and uh wanted to see other guys eat and that was his main thing like he wanted to be around other dogs and you know he he he stepped into that role where there’s a dog everywhere every he looks right he looks left there’s going to be a dog so um he wanted that and that’s what you know we we bring to the table he’s been nothing but just amazing so far I’m very excited to work with him back here with Lewis and B B we’re talking about a player here that has led the NFL in catches the last four years any concerns about Diggs being okay perhaps getting less Targets this season and sharing yeah I think there’s always a little bit of concern K first first of all shout out to CJ shroud it’s been cool to see him not only had a have a great rookie year but through this offseason his star has shined brighter off the field and some of the ISS some of the podcast and some of the spotlights that he’s been in that’s number one number two k back to the point Stefon digs got kicked out of Minnesota because he caused noise he got kicked out of Buffalo essentially because he caused noise so at some point you would think he’s going to cause some noise in in in in Houston that’s kind of his M Mo I hope it doesn’t happen I hope he goes down there and becomes a good soldier I hope he signs up and plays football to his level because I I think then the Texans have an opportunity to be a true Super Bowl Contender with Nico Collins Stefon Diggs and tank Dale but if we just look at the track record Kev what in the past has given us confidence to say he’s not at some point going to want the football that’s what receivers do Chris Carter told us years ago receivers are about two things them and their money that’s it they’re not concerned about anything else that’s what receivers are about so at some point I think the track Rec record of a receiver and the track record of him I would lean to him creating some no more times than not well first of all let me just say this let me let me Echo what you said CJ strout is that dude end the story he’s that guy and he was going to ascend and he’s going to ascend like a rocket ship and it’s going to be fun to watch number two look I’ll tell you what there isn’t a coach there isn’t a coach in the NFL who I would say I have more confidence in in his ability to Snuff out and be able to kind of put a lid on any kind of smoldering fire more so than that guy right there more so than that guy because you know what he is like the perfect crossover from he still looks like a Mike backer mhm have you seen his arms have you seen the way this dude looks right now he could probably step in and give you 10 to 15 first and second down reps and on top of it he so grounded he’s so intelligent he has such a command I ain’t worried about nothing in Houston nothing the McNair family hit this ball so far out of the park with hiring Deo Ryan and the way they have added to this football team this year I’m not worried about anything um Stefon Diggs is the least of my concerns I just want this team to stay healthy and let them go on and continue to improve Deo Ryan will handle it whatever comes okay just for the record too sir everybody knows you know Bo talked about the receivers and what their priorities are for BG it’s his golf shirts and his golf game and for Lewis it’s about his threepiece and his suits just so you know uh Diggs also spoke yesterday and said this about now former quarterback Josh Allen you know when I got to Buffalo uh Josh was you know Josh is still my guy you know what I’m saying like people don’t really understand what it’s like to be out there you know what I’m saying and he really he really embraced me you know what I’m saying he kind of had that southern hospitality you know what I’m saying so for me um he embraced him he spent a lot of time and I probably wouldn’t be right here if it wasn’t for him too so you know I got I got a lot of love for that boy so y y’all give him a hug and a kiss for me okay so he’s saying all the right things okay leis with Diggs gone though what expectations do you have with Josh Allen in this bill’s offense I think it could be very similar to what happened with Patrick when he left when when Tyreek left Kansas City which was look obviously he’s a fantastic player and they miss Tyreek Hill but then Patrick could run the offense a little bit more organically where he hasn’t wasn’t always thinking I got to get the ball to Tyreek where’s Tyreek I got to get him his Josh ain’t worried about that anymore he’s not worried about any more sideline blowups he’s not worried about someone constantly chirping in his ear he’s going to play the game true to the way it’s put in in the in the meeting room and quite honestly that can be liberating for quarterbacks you know what ke to whom much is given much is expected and it’s just like it’s just like a good hair dye like when you get gray hairs you got to have a good hair dye to cover up all those gray hairs that’s what Josh Allen is going to be expected to do in Buffalo okay he’s going to be expected to cover up for every gray haet offense and I’m not saying I’m not saying that you have the gray hair C I’m just saying the people out there who use hair dye know what I’m speaking of he’s got to cover up for all those hair don’t let do that of you don’t have any hair you don’t have any say in this conversation all right and we didn’t see any welcome America spe e First Blood you have deated an enemy okay [Music] your team has destroyed a tower an ally has defeated an ally has been defeated enemy double kill EXE Louis, you were saying the same thing about Jalen hurts last year! I wish i could bring all the dumb comments you've made in the past 2-3 years! Your opinion is trash…that's why your going to stay right there on nfl live as an analyst! You're a joke!
