Linn Grant wins Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed after ‘incredible finish’ | Golf Central | Golf Channel

one of the wildest finishes you’ll see in professional golf happen today in Sweden Lyn Grant on the 18th and the Volvo car Scandinavian mixed holes out for Birdie on her final hole that’s the low round of the day with a 65 she would post 17 under and little did she know how meaningful that shot would be Sebastian Soderberg had an eight shot lead to begin the final round that was Whitted down to one on the 18th Fairway he would miss the green horrible lie in the bunker played his buker shot onto the green a par putt came up short and then the rest is history had this for bogey to force a playoff three putts the 72 hole for double and ly Grant wins the Volvo car Scandinavian mix for the second time in three years what an incredible finish hello and welcome in golf Central pregame here with you for the next hour I’m George Sabas with three-time PGA Tour winner Johnson Wagner we’re going to carry you until 12 30 Eastern for the final round of the memorial before we dive into that what a heartbreaking finish for Sebastian Soderberg and just a tough watch down the stretch as he was white knuckling to the finish with an eight shot lead starting the day thought the back nine would be sort of a coronation he would make two Bogies in a double missing six of his last seven greens uh it turned into a nightmare quickly and certainly a good walk spoiled yeah and we thought that it would be more of a coronation for Soderberg A Long Walk To Success turned turned into an 18 hole hell ride for him what’s it like being inside the ropes when the wheels are spinning your mind’s racing and you can’t seemingly you know find the ball in the center of the club face the the heart rate gets up you you can’t control your thoughts everything starts moving at warp speed and you have no ability to slow it down and just the the part the birdie putty hit on 17 which was the last screen he hit uh came up short that par putt came up short and you could just tell the pressure in his hands was so tight I’m sure he was not talking positively to himself about holding that Putt and going into a playoff in a bit of disbelief and you know golfers have a tendency to dwell on the bad more than the good I I know I remember my losses more than my wins this is one that Sebastian’s never going to forget and just a improbable win for Lynn Grant and it’s the second time now she’s won this mixed event that’s a combination of the ladies European tour and the DP World Tour in a threeyear span and she said it was in not only her home country her hometown in hellenberg yeah big popular win I she was really classy in her post round interview talking about how gutted she feels for Sebastian to she nobody wants to win a golf tournament that way but uh it it still is a win and it’s got to you know when she thinks about it it’s going to be sweet and she did everything she needed to today to put any sort of pressure conditions were not easy it was raining uh they dealt with some wind so she uh certainly Rose to the occasion final thought on this can you remember a collapse like this in recent mem memory that stands out to you I know you were talking about a Martin kimer 10 shot deficit lost I mean I I think vandel and 99 at Carusi this was this was you know Sebastian’s going to be remembered for this for a long time

  1. That was a tough watch…just goes to show how great Tiger was, 13-13 when leading going into the final round.

  2. Oh my sac!!!! I heard he was crying after the round….I would be too…..next year why not let women and men tee off from the same ‘neutral teeing ground’

  3. He looked like he did it on purpose it was that bad. Someone from golf's higher powers should look into it. Those last two puts he missed were very bad.
