hey guys Mark here and I’ve got an interesting scenario where I’ve got about 20 yards to the front edge of the green and maybe five yards of green to work with so I’ve got to carry it a decent ways it looks like with not a lot of green short-sided pin there so that scenario sounds like high soft lob wedge right and I could I’ve got a good enough L where I could get under it fly it all the way there try to stop it probably going to be a pretty low percentage that I pull it off really well the other option I might have is a pitch and wedge or something flying it most of the way there Landing it short of the green and letting it bounce once or twice and then rolling up there probably a little bit higher percentage but what we really want to try is a six iron bumping around all the way or even I’ve got my three iron to try out so the one difference if I’m going through this much approach versus two or three yards off the green with my iron I’m going to play it a little bit back just inside my right foot drive it just a little bit because now I don’t have the skid Factor if I’m close to the green I’m leaning it on the green skid Factor comes in I can’t judge it as well when I play that ball back but because of this longer grass in the approach it won’t skid so I can play it back and it’ll go out just a little hotter come out just a little hotter so I’m going to hit one here same setup same technique as the normal bump around just playing the ball back you see it gets up the hill I misre it actually went a little right instead of I thought it was going left but almost perfect distance one more there’s a little thin ball so it’s going to come up just a fraction short but it still got up there I’ve got a make aable putt for and up and down versus if I Mish hit that lob wedge again the mishits are so extreme got a three-wood here so the one difference three-wood to iron when I’m going over this much approach is I can’t really play it back because the longer shaft here it forces me to kind of forward press too much so I got to play that ball up still have a little forward press because the length of the club choking pretty much all the way down so the setup because the length of the club’s a little different here but other than that the same and this is going to roll pretty much the whole way I love this play that one I hit just a smidge hard you saw it Go just past the hole again it’s not breaking it looks like to me it was going to break left and it’s pretty straight up that hill that’s pretty good that’s about three and A2 feet or so so you can see this 3-woods really effective and easy and you just have to get good at your speed control just like putting so it takes a little bit of practice any technique or any club any shot you hit is going to take some practice but if you do this type of technique we’re keeping it low thinking ground game low versus high or low before high you’re going to be much more consistent not just shortterm but long-term day and day out even if you take a couple weeks off where you can’t touch your clubs I say life gets in the way of golf sometimes right we’re not professionals out here getting paid to play and practice every day so we might get a little rusty but this doesn’t have as much rust build up in those few weeks as a live wedge type shot wood where I’m trying to fly it all the way there and hit it high and soft looks cooler doesn’t work as effectively or as consistently so try out the three-wood when you’re this far off the green and again we’re just putting with Loft if you want the six iron the difference is the ball positions back forward with a three-wood more normal like we’ hit our normal bump and run you might forward press just a little bit because the length of the shaft just might Jam in your stomach if you’re trying to be too neutral but I guarantee you try a lower lofted Club hybrid maybe I don’t have a hybrid personally Fairway Wood hybrid longer iron put it through this or bump and run it like a putt be much more consistent long term first time you might struggle with your speed control but stick with it guarantee it long term you’re going to be better off
