relief and was very good in his first appearance against aahe the other day but Jude you’re spending your summer ball here in Hastings Nebraska long far away from uh not too far away I guess from South Dakota States um talk to us about how you ended up here in Hastings yeah so our coaches reached out here early in the season made my decision couple weeks before the season ended just wanted to come play here get more Innings as I could cuz I didn’t get too many during the spring season so so that spring season for the division one Jack Rabbits uh mean we were talking about it before uh you had some tough competition some tough cookies you had to face on the mound lots of good division one competition just to tell us about those matchups and just what it was like going up against um some of the best guys in division one in college baseball yeah so coming out of high school like I mentioned before to you I tore my elbow so I didn’t get to play my true freshman year so then this year was my kind of rehab year uh I got my first start or first first relief against uh University of Dayton uh didn’t do too well just kind of nervous out there got my second rehab against Dayton as well I did a little better got my feet wet more and then I got to go against K State which was it was pretty was pretty cool not going to lie well I think maybe another cool one I mean you get to play in front of an even bigger ballpark uh you get to you get to pitch a little bit in the game against Nebraska at hey Market Park one of the of the largest college fan bases in the country so you got to do that as well I mean just you’ve pitched at the biggest stage I mean just what what is that like um pitching in an away crowd especially like Nebraska that is just uh I mean everybody he’s rooting against you there yeah it’s really surreal uh I just want to give all praise to God though I mean without him I wouldn’t be here right now I mean he’s giving me talents that I couldn’t dream of I mean this is my dream of playing college baseball at this level and do you have that South Dakota State connection because um you have a family remember that you you played here I mean just talk about how cool that is um you got to play with um older brother yeah I got to play with my older brother Eli Eli was with the jack rabbits for four years um and he kind of showed me the ropes of South Dakota State what it took to be a jack rabbit and kind of it was a great experience for him to be there with me and for my family as well so have you been to Nebraska before this year is this uh your first intin here in uh the great state no this is my first year here it’s kind of same as South Dakota not not too much to do okay I I mean that’s what I was going to say I mean obviously the locals know anything around here I mean um they told you about many of the fun plans to do I mean uh what are you expecting to get accomplished this summer when you’re not doing baseball uh me and my roommate Jack Krueger will be golfing a lot I can tell you that right now we’ll be getting a lot of lot of rounds in at Lain Golf Course what’s uh what’s your handicap not good well I can say I’m right there I’m right there with you judee um let’s just talk about I mean personal life too I mean if when you’re not doing baseball I mean obviously you’re going to school um what kind of school are you education are you looking to get and what do what kind of hobbies you like to do outside of school uh my major is Sport and wck management and some of the Hobbies I like to do are fishing with my father uh going hunting with him too I mean he growing up we did a lot of hunting and fishing and now being in college I mean I’m a far away from home so I don’t really get to uh do as much with him but I on the days I am home I tend hunting with them or fish all right so let’s go to uh more back to baseball um how about a you got a professional team you like uh Minnesota Twins Minnesota Hometown twins well I’m asking all the guys this this season um all time Mount Rushmore your favorite four twins I mean could be past could be present could be anybody uh favorite four twins uh Kirby Pucket Caleb thar South Dakota State native uh Johan Duran Joe Mau we’ll go with Joe m I was nervous you weren’t going to say Joe Mau there but that that Caleb debar that’s that’s a really good PLL too just a reliever but South Dakota State native too getting your I mean getting your first summer experience here I mean just uh what specifically are you looking to work on on the mound here this year um I had some command issues during the Spring season so I’m just trying to get ahead early with my fast ball and then use my breaking pitches off of that all right and all I guess I’ll I’ll tell tell you we haven’t had very much win the the first few ball games and uh still gorgeous and wind blowing in it’s pitcher Paradise even more here at Duncan Field tonight Ry valetto all I can say is that it is sun shining out here in Hastings and yes the wind does appear here to be a factor today here at Duncan field but then again you’re going to need a lot of win in any direction to help you um improve your conditions at Duncan with this spacious ballpark but if it is the worst today and um you know I could say it’s probably a flip of the coin cuz all of these first five games have been beautiful but let’s uh treat you to a good game shall we the prospects back for one more game today before the sodbusters say goodbye to junan field for a couple of weeks and then before they’ll be back on not until June the 15th so going to be a good game tonight hope to bring you the uh fourth sidebuster win in a row and make it a real winning streak sodbusters better have their aame today just kind of walk by the prospects dug out of course they see the the green polo shirt and say you guys ready to lose tonight I’m just a broadcaster and um so I’m just joking with you uh but I think they really feel like uh that was not their best per performance probably had a little bus slag after coming from Spearfish the day before uh going to have a different looking lineup today and I think uh there’ll be a a little bit of purpose in that third base Dugout there’s not many teams this year who are going to do what Hastings did to the Nebraska prospects yesterday holding them that highly talented group to just two hits that is an amazing performance for a trio of Hasting soundbuster pitchers well and as you may or may not know I mean the Nebraska prospects the only team in the independence league where for lack of a better term a payto playay team you know these are prospects they are trying to get their name out there to make a division one college and with so many talented prospects out there in the great state of Nebraska it does cost a bit to play for the team so you definitely want to have your best roster at all times but like Steve mentioned I mean traveling from Spearfish after having a late game and just getting into town and then probably having to have a little workout and then get right back on the bump too uh can be tough but I mean that’s what summer Baseball’s all about so prospects hopefully they’re well rested and um but then again we want to see the sunbusters get a little bit more added to their winning streak before they hit the road forever but uh yeah like you mentioned Steve Hastings College kns are going to send out James Velasquez to the mound All-American at Hastings College this year and he was actually named all pack gpack pitcher of the week a couple coup of times in the regular season as well even for a Hastings college team that did not do very well in the spring of course that gpack lead led by powerhouses traditional powerhouses Concordia and D in that league but it’ll be fun to see we got another sodbuster returning who’s from Hastings College in the lineup tonight who was a sodbuster last season and uh we’ll see another one on the mound like Steve mentioned so we’re going to have an excellent ball game for you tonight let’s take a look at the starting lineups first of all for the 3 in one Hasting s Busters have head coach Joel Skipper it’ll be alexel Delgado in center field and leading things off Josh printer B second he’s the shortstop Sawyer dudleston in right field batting third Jack Borgman will be at first base and batting fourth he’s followed by Ryan Jarvis up to fifth in the lineup and playing Left Field Tyler Welch the aforementioned Hastings product doing the DH duties today Matias croll is behind the plate and batting seventh batting eighth it’s Leo sarataro at third base and Drew Vega it’s second base batting ninth and James Velasquez all he did in the spring for Hastings College was go six and three with a 1.71 erra in 63 Innings the fourth best earned run average in niia so once again for the side Busters Delgado printer dudon Borgman Jarvis Welch koll sarataro Vega with Velasquez on the hill the Nebraska prospects coming in at 1 and three they’re under the direction of Gabe shemwell a Gretna graduate he went on and played baseball at sou Falls former assistant coach at Gretna High School the head coach at elorn South and now working his baseball love in the summer for the Nebraska prospects he has a lineup that has Blake Stinger leading off and playing Centerfield Tyler Palmer is the first baseman batting second Elliot Peterson the catcher bats third niik Saul in right field and batting fourth Bryce Waller is in left field and batting Fifth and it’s Gage Allen at third base AJ Lucas the DH today batting seventh it’s Trent Barry at shortstop batting eighth Drew borner plays second base and bats ninth and it’ll be Colton hamula he is a Norris High School grad getting ready to go to college so great opportunity for him to see college level prospects here for this Prospect Squad he’ll be making his Nebraska debut once again for p Nebraska prospects it’s Stinger Palmer Peterson Saul Waller Allen Lucas Barry borer with hamula on the mound the umpires for today’s game as we get an opportunity to see this Twan crew they continue to work it and do a nice job as we will have behind home play today sha shot and Brandon Brooks will be in the field that your lineup and as far as weatherwise I mention the fact 81° the only bummer and uh it’s just it’s your real nitpicky if you’re complaining about a day like today 16 mph winds it’s almost blowing straight in from Center so uh messers Velasquez and hula are going to be awfully excited to pitch in conditions like this throw strikes and dare people to hit it out of spacious Duncan field today exactly and like you mentioned to the opposing starter Colton Hoka from Norris um out in the Hickman and fth area actually get a play baseball thereof many a time as a as a child for my uh Hometown u in Lincoln the I guess what do you the select League that’s what it was back then the the Lincoln Legends played a lot of baseball in Hickman too and uh and for this Norris team too that Hoka just graduated from a main stay in the starting rotations throughout his high school career and also see um parents it looks like um on the opposite fil stand uh when I walked in today um one of the first people in the stands was a people wearing the Norris high school and the Hoka on the back of the J so perhaps uh mom and dad are some family members excited to watch Colton make his um summer collegiate baseball debut but that Norris team if you recall or pay attention to high school baseball the class B state champions this year which was an excellent feat for them one of the best Sluggers in the country kale fountain on that team he’s going to be heading off to LSU and I mean just what a a team that the Norris Titans put together from Southeast Nebraska but the prospects hoping to get back on the bump it’s have a feeling yes like you said Steve we might be seeing a nice little pitchers duel here today the standings in the independence league huh what a difference three games makes huh Casper is 4- one the Hastings side Busters are three- one a half game back baby Fremont is 4 and two Spearfish four and five and aahi is 2 and six yesterday Spearfish beats Casper 9 to8 so the first time that Casper has lost and aahi winning at Fremont by a 6 to2 count so thank you very much zap it’s early in the year but you got to kind of get off to that good start because you you play a few weeks and then they reset the records and will be resetting the records you have your first half champ and your second half champ June 23rd already is the end of the first half so you know about 20 so games in it we CL Crown the first half champ and that team automatically goes to the playoffs at the end of the year and with the way the sunbusters have been starting you want to see them uh keep getting those wins now and uh just get the first half Champions out of the way and um just go off from there that’s what Fremont did last season they were the first half Champions and then uh they kind of got to I mean I don’t know if you can say that they coasted the rest of the way but that’s certainly something that you can do also before we get started too um for the prospects fans that might be listening in um got a text from my grandmother last night saying that bod and Bryce Waller were in town and that uh their grandma was my grandpa’s sibling so learned that um I’ve got a couple of second cousins playing in the first base tug out tonight super cool and that apparently they used to come to Lincoln for family reunions uh back a little bit farther than I remember so um whoever the the family is back out there the the wallers are related to the Valenta um how do you do this is a I mean it’s a very small world but it’s uh super cool happening there and uh going to see Bry in the starting lineup for the the prospects tonight a business major going to Northeast Community College that’s Bryce Waller as his brother bod going to Hudson kity College then on to mount Marty and he’s one of the guys that actually returned from uh last year’s Nebraska Prospect Squad they lost a bunch of dudes from last year but a a handful of guys playing this year as well as last year we’re going to take it down to the field for the singing of our national anthem in advance of the matchup between the Hastings sodbusters and the Nebraska prospects looks like Jason’s going to talk a little bit longer so we will as well reminding you that it’s the final home game for a while the next time sarataro and in the Outfield it’s Ryan Jarvis and left alexel Del got in center and Sawyer dudleston in right that’s the defense is the side Busters where the black jerseys by the way Ryan valent has got me geeked out so 1 and0 in the black jerseys this year so I’m going to try to keep up with you uh and we’ll see if we can make it 2 and0 in the the basic blacks although the sodbusters gave up 10 runs that day so the erra when when they wear the black jerseys real bad well it’s a win on the scorebook Steve so that’s all that matters there but I mean just another thing to talk about the broadcast too and keeping track of the beer batters too so far four for four with that striking out the beer batter at least once here at Duncan field this year but for James Velasquez like we mentioned an excellent season at Hastings College try this on for size 11 appearances and 11 starts for Velasquez 63 Innings pitched did not give up an an earned run in six of those 11 appearances so more often the night Velasquez is going to be throwing a scoreless game in his starts and obviously he knows had a pitch here at Duncan field so this should be hopefully a breath of fresh air and a breath of familiar air for Mr Vasquez Lake Stanger steps in the right-handed box and we are underway squaring to bunt and pulling the bat back taking strike one is Mr Stanger Blake the Illinois State product formerly at Iowa Western a guy who comes into today at 250 on the year with 0 for three with an RBI and a couple of stolen bases and he takes a strike there quickly down to the count no balls and two strikes six stolen bases for him already for the 1 and three Nebraska prospects count no balls and two strikes if he does get on you better keep an eye on line drive right side that’s a base hit soyer dudon over to cut it off and it’s a leadoff base runner for the Nebraska prospects they had two hits all of yesterday they have one hit after one batter today now that’s probably a mislocation there for Velasquez went with the fast ball but with an 02 pitch there um you got to get that up at least higher or out some more outside of the zone that one too much part of the plates for a good hitter like Blake Stinger here’s Tyler Palmer Palmer pitched yesterday more of a an everyday field kind of player and he can’t catch up with a high hard one no balls and a strike for Tyler Palmer is off to a two for2 summer start with two runs scored and three stolen bases pitched an inning yesterday scoreless no hits and walked them at runner at first and jockeying off and drawing a throw is Blake Stanger Stanger was just almost embarrassingly good at stealing bases yesterday stood two stole two second base twice standing up but then tried to take third and got taken out say yeah that was the yesterday the starter Jack Krueger just not able to pay enough attention to him and those couple of stolen bases by Stinger he almost had the ball or the bang stolen by the time the pitcher even began his motion two strikes to count and Vasquez brings it home beauty I don’t know what Palmer was looking for there but he could not get the bat off the shoulders as he says something to the home plate umpire as he heads back to the Dugout but that was a pretty good pitch there’s one on and one out for Elliot Peterson the starting catcher today for the Nebraska prospects yeah I’m not sure what Palmer’s arguing about either according to our flight scope a perfect pitch um almost right down the middle the upper third of the strike zone as we see Peterson step in four for 11 start bouncing Paul right side could be two dish to Second for one over to First in time how about that leadoff single gone as the minimum face for James Velasquez no runs one hit no one left no three in the eighth to win on that day alexio Delgado will come to the plate now now after a 4 for 14 start three of those Hits come in the last two days yesterday went one for three with an RBI at a run scored alexel Delgado one of the division one guys he’s a Carolina University bruan and takes just outside for ball one one ball and no strikes Alexs had a chance to show off his speed with a couple of infield hits two days ago against aahi Hoka the right-hander brings it in and that is just outside two balls and no strikes on alexiel Delgado wind blowing almost straight in from center field this 408 playing even bigger today 405 to the alleys 370 down the left field line 367 down the right field line Delgado squares to bunt pulls it back and takes strike one two and one the count bottom half of the first inning no score the prospects and the soundbuster brief two game series Hastings will have an opportunity to have tomorrow off before hitting the road for Casper for three awah for three and Spearfish for two before finally coming home and we’ll see a visit to the Mount from the catcher Elliott Peterson can not get on the same page as Colton hula and those two guys will have a quick conversation always a good time to take that road trip up to the north around this time of the year last season the guys got stopped by Mount Rushmore see some good sights up there and um they did have a couple of games canceled up there so even more time for a team bonding up there and that’s what a long trip road trip will do for you two- one pitch is down low for three balls and one Rushmore Wyoming’s a gorgeous place to go although you’re not going to get to Yellowstone side of Wyoming but still some some neat places to see 3-2 pitch and Elgato checks the swing and fouls it back at remains three and two pretty good battle here opening batter of the ball game here in the bottom of the first no score Joel Skipper coaching down at third base Cory coranda the first base coach here for the Hastings side Busters 3-2 pitch again high and tight don’t know if it caught a piece of him one way the other it’s Ball Four I guess we’ll say walk until we see differently but uh delgado’s AB board it almost did sound like a double clunk there perhaps but uh no signal made by the home plate umpire so lead off walk there and uh you know what we say about leadoff walk Steve they read off it and you’re going to see the outfielders playing shallow with the wind blowing in when that came off the bat I thought there’s no way the center fielders is going to get there but Stanger where he’s playing that was a perfectly scouted at bat there and joshh printer a quick out here for the Hasting side Busters one-on-one out for Sawyer dudon dudon off to a tremendous start six out of 11 with a couple of multi-hit games including yesterday two for two two doubles an RBI and a run scored sodbusters won that contest by score of 7 to3 giving up a couple of consolation runs uh late in that contest strike one the count on Sawyer dudon one of the many Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys on the roster takes this pitch inside that nearly hits him and it’s one ball and one strike on Sawyer dudleston Sawyer did not play for the side Busters last year played here two years ago and had tremendous success 366 for his summer campaign one-1 delivery taken high runner goes throw it out to second base Delgato is out tip of the hat to Elliot Peterson these Prospect catchers have been really tough on sodbuster Runners and there are two outs in the inning well better to test the waters early and and uh kind of set a game plan for the rest of the way there and Joel Skipper having a word with his leadoff hitter and second time that dogado has gotten thrown out on the base pass pitch High Sight it’s now three and one on Sawyer dlon a business major from Springdale Arkansas at a multi-hit game against aah in the first game of that two game series two for four an RBI two runs scored he’ll take a walk here and two out of the first three have reached however the C steeling putting a bummer on this inning one on two out now for Jack Borgman Jack Borgman oh my goodness him and dudleston have been dynamite in the early going how about eight for 15 for Jack Borgman and N their multi-hit gam he had three multi-hit games in four count as here at Duncan takes the pitch on the Wonderboy he also went 0 for three in his season debut he did drive home a run though and also walked that one is lined foul that’s going to head into the sidebuster bullpen Vega in his spring season at Arch he was a freshman and did not play and he hails from Dar denell Arkansas count now one ball in two strikes to Vega the sunbuster second baseman and he takes it the opposite way and that drops in for a base hit oega has his first hit as the sidebuster just two games in and that’s a one- out single and it turns over the lineup particularly the guys who didn’t play in the spring you love to see them get early success just to kind of get the pump primed and going to be a lot of battles for playing positions as this season goes on so you want to take advantage of those chances and Drew Vega with an early hit back to the top of the lineup alexio Delgado bats with one outs first pitch to him is down low for ball one Delgado walked in the first he attempted to steal seconds but he was nabbed by the catcher Elliot Peterson on the season so far for alexiel four for 14 runner on the move and that one will not be in time and stealing the bag fairly easily is Drew Vega as that throw from the catcher Peterson head nowhere near getting Vega out we’ve seen some pretty good base Steelers thrown out by this Prospect catching crew so that’s pretty impressive for Vega to to steal it the potential Games first run just one base away with one out best scoring chance for the Hastings side Busters can Delgado play fundamental ball with the middle infield back and he old soft grounder and the side Busters will have the lead Delgado drove in his first run as a sodbuster yesterday in the 7even to3 win and that came in the sixth inning on a sack fly here comes the 2-1 check swing and I believe the home PL umpire said that Delgato went around for strike two and that is indeed the call two balls and two strikes Delgato can just get one into the here like he has done but then again pitches a ball the throw down to second is through Vega can’t grab it Stanger steals the base and he stands there with nobody out pretty fast delivery for Velasquez and a really good job for croll to get it down there if he’s on the second base side they may have a chance at him but stolen base number seven for Blake Stanger and don’t discount the fact that he may take off for third either don’t you can’t ignore that he did try that once yesterday but that was he was able to be picked off there a liner right to Drew Vega they throw back to Second and in safely is Stanger a line drive snagged now one outs next batter Elliot Peterson we told you about him yesterday hitting over 500 for the season at Southeast Community College but the sunbusters held him in check yesterday as there’s ball one to him Peterson was actually lifted for a pinch hitter as he grounded out struck out and popped out he was 0 for three yesterday and he grounded into a double play to end the first inning Peterson not having any success against the sodbusters so far Velasquez drops the hammer on Peterson for strike one one ball in one strike to the prospect catcher yeah Peterson’s a Katon prep guy and going to Third and out at third Velasquez steps off and they get him out at third Stanger trying to time up the delivery of Velasquez him and Saro go crashing into each other but Leo holds on to the baseball and for the second straight day Stanger makes it out at third base excellent job there both ways C sarataro had to hustle to even beat Stinger to the bag make that catch and almost dive to get the out and then you mentioned holding on to the ball after a huge Collision one ball one strike and that is right in between the numbers Peterson wears it and he will go first base with two outs if you’re able to get Peterson out there that keeps your streak of facing the minimum still as you get another base runner erased but unfortunately not to be I was just thinking the fact well how they he going to face the minimum now with a runner at second and darn if they didn’t catch him stealing but now she got to pick the guy off first here only way that Velasquez could do it ball one is inside and low doubles two runs batted in four walks and only one strikeout pitch to him drops the breaking ball in for a strike now one ball and two strikes Colton Hoka about to be delivering pitch number 50 here in his outing it’s way outside now two balls and two strikes sodbusters have had a base runner in the first and the third inning they were set down in order in the second 22 grounded over the third base bag and that is just foul dlon a hair early on it so we’ll do the two two pitch once again sodbusters in their black uniforms today the prospects pretty clean blue jerseys have a lighter blue with their red numes and for Steve Stein very easy to see right and the only problem I have with it no numbers on the front but still you know legible numbers on the back and we will take this over the aahi yellow and white jerseys every day of the week payoff to dlon is outside for ball four dlon Works another walk and that on base percentage continues to balloon game by game the guy knows how back in safely is dudleston dudleston one for one on stolen base attempts this year don’t figure he’ll be a guy that’s uh really looking to steal in this certain situation the old1 beautiful fast ball on the outside corner and Borgman watched it all the way in but couldn’t pull the trigger so Borgman struck out in the first inning MOA trying to accomplish that feed again same pitch went with the fast ball on the outside corner but just a little bito too far this time one ball and two strikes borgman’s best day was a three hit day where he doubled all three of those plate appearances early on in the season 30 plus chances for you to come and watch the sodbusters out of Duncan field they’re going to check on the runner again and Palmer trying to put a little oky dooke on soer dlon to pretend that the throw got away there and let’s just say he won’t be nominated for an Oscar anytime soon pitch up high two balls and two strikes seen that I mean at all levels you try the you it’s more of a design play though it’s the whole team is screaming go get the ball and try to get the guy off the bag that one just a solo act by Tyler Palmer the first baseman Borgman off the fist going to be trouble for the second baseman borer he underhand tosses in time excellent play by borer at second base to make the out there for the first out of the inning advancing to second is Sawyer Deston what made it even tougher Sawyer dson doing a nice job running a little interference not interfering but he uh cut in front uh made sure he didn’t hit him or anything like that but bner had to avoid that and had to keep his concentration and did so to throw out to Borman Ryan Jarvis bats we know he likes to go after the first pitch but that one not close he takes ball one Ryan Jarvis in his third game as a sidebuster and one of the sagov Valley State guys who has been very very good got off to a slow start in his first game but then drove home two runs and those at bats that one look out Prospect Dugout Jarvis ropes that foul there way way early on that pitch and is it just me or does it feel like he has more than two hits cuz he had a sacrificed fly but he’s got the three RB it seems like every time he comes to the plate in key situations there’s the guy and in the sixth inning each of the last two games it’s been Ryan Jarvis and then he played really good left field yesterday when he puts the ball in play it is usually with authority Jarvis single Homer Run part of the sidebuster six run inning yesterday they’re going to back pick to Second back in safely and by a ways is dudleston the throw from Peterson actually bounced to the short stop Trenton Barry who’s able to keep it in front two balls one strike to Ryan Jarvis 0 for one today a line out to right field in his only at bat dudleston would love to Scamper home on one of those hits to the Outfield that back door breaking ball just misses outside and not by much hitters count for Ryan Jarvis the righty pitches to the Lefty instead make sure duton isn’t going anywhere Shadows on the grand stand in The Concourse level starting to creep in on the infield it’s covering home plate pretty completely now 3-1 in the middle part of this game W Tyler Welsh will see his second at bats of the day he was a guy that started for the sodbusters last season he left in the middle of the Season took some time off to go back home to Tucson but then came back for the latter part of the Season Tyler Welsh hit 250 for the sodbusters last year seven for 28 and that pitch way down low for ball one Tyler Welsh also also one of Joel Skippers Hastings Broncos during that season a visit from the Mounds from Elliot Peterson to his pitcher Colton Hoka in the spring for Tyler Welsh at Hastings College 260 average for him 16 runs driven in pretty much the guy that played at third base for the most of the year for the Broncos he’s got one more year for Hastings College Welsh fouls it off interesting to see how that whole situation works out it’s a pretty deep group at third base just in the early G as you see uh tremendous play from SAR naroa Morales and now Welch all trying to see playing time there one ball and one strike to Tyler Welsh Runners at first and second ducks on the pond Welsh grounds it to the left side it is gloved by Trenton Barry and he’ll have no play infield hit for Tyler Welsh perfectly placed and the bases are loaded with one outs big chance for Mattias croll now and can the side Busters play fundamental ball and get that Runner home from thirds koll struck out in the second inning but a good contact hitter like Steve mentioned second Team all conference for the East Central Falcons Corners will play just a step behind their respective bags and the in the Outfield rather playing way in for Matias koll the center fielder Stanger Blake Stinger is very far in as well as the right fielder Bryce Waller Nico saw in right field playing about normal depth ground ball foul they don’t think that C’s going to get around on holica big hole in left center field wonder if um maybe a bunt here is in Joel Skipper’s bag of tricks doesn’t look like it there’s another foul ball there one ball and two strikes to Matias koll appearing for the third time this season struck outs in his only at bat today onew pitch ooh that one just missed low breaking ball and how do you not swing at that excellent eye by Matias croll count even two a piece pitch from Hoka ground ball right side to the second baseman borer flips on to Second for one on to First not in time and a throw is wild one run scores and Jarvis will hold at third it’s an RBI fielders choice for Matas colls he beats the rapid first base and unfortunately for the sodbusters that one just missed the Dugout it looks like that would have scored another run but the sodbusters have another in the fourth they certainly were ready to get a second run home but it bounced perfectly back onto the field so sidebuster settle for one good job for croll to bust it down the line we’ll see if they can continue the thing with two outs pitches a ball to Leo sarataro prospects wanted that one but they don’t get it sarataro struck out looking to start the third inning Saro still looking for his first hit as a sodbuster that one also misses for ball two Hoka over the 70 pitch mark now he has had some traffic on the bases except for the second inning that breaking ball finds the front door for sarataro who takes Strike One S Busters really look solid offensively and defensively so far in the early going breaking ball same spot same result two balls and two strikes sarataro with Runners at the corners trying to drive home the game’s Third Run oh where was that pitch that one looked pretty good that one called the ball and yeah that should have been strike three according to our flight scope Saro and the sodbusters catch a break big time three balls and two strikes give him another chance see what sarataro can do with going here at Duncan field the Hastings sidebuster have a two nothing lead it’s Steve Stein Ryan Valenta getting a little time off as we hear from Scott Galia the man for the Hasting side Busters fresh off making hamburgers last night we’ll see if we can get him for a full inning today knows this is fun baseball really two good pitching and sodbusters taking advantage of a a little bit of opportunity they’re hav been many scoring chances but we got two you know I wish we would have taken I mean we we got a run across but I wish we would have executed a little better and got that done on on on our own but uh we’ll take whatever we can get and same thing there we’ve got to we got to shorten up a little bit we got to put the ball in play a couple more times but uh you know just like the other night their second baseman took a step back and when you take a step back and you uh you do that and you’re trying to get a double play you’re in trouble and and you know as well as I do that it’s not always the the double plays you make it’s the ones you don’t make and that happened to us the other night cost us a few runs on Tuesday and that cost them a run there so that’s little little things that you don’t all show up in the score B but we’re doing a pretty good job at little things we just got to execute a little bit better in the Box Bryce Waller will step to the plate you got to love the way J James Velasquez is maximizing his pitches 44 pitches thrown compared to 77 for Colton hula and he has been able to to get some defense behind him to get guys off the bases what about that pick play at third oh my gosh that was nice um again he was bouncing around on him timed him up the first time and and then James got him that time which was great you know I only saw James pitch once and that night he happened to to go nine innings and he threw 87 pitches uh so this is not anything that I didn’t expect the one thing is you know he’s not stretched out as long as he will be uh so I’m not sure how long he can go but if he keeps being this efficient who knows and so um so we’re really happy to have him because we know that James is just a guy that wants the ball every fifth or sixth day and he’s going to give give us all he’s got and he should be able to eat up Innings just about every night out two pitches result in an out a 4-3 put out and Gage Allen steps to the play as Drew Vega was a B to throw him out good to see V in the lineup and sanaro Leo sanaro another one of those good third basem he’s made a couple of really good defensive plays yeah Leo did a nice job or excuse me Drew did a nice job at going the other way and hit that little line drive to right field so a big smile on his face and and got a good jump so base for us too so those guys we those guys got to keep working hard and uh you know we just playing really well defensively yeah and Vega did have the single on the lone run scored pop up to Vega but he’s called off by the right fielder and Sawyer dlon can’t make the play unfortunate for Hastings there it looked like Vega had a beat on it but you you give way if your right fielder makes the call and Sawyer just couldn’t quite H get there well we did that exactly right second baseman’s supposed to go until gets called off and those guys are teammates too which is even more ironic but uh called him off did it right and then you know there’s a lot of wind up there and uh wind just got a little bit of him there so hopefully we can uh recover from that and doesn’t cost us it will be an error charge to dlon the pitch is outside by the way batting now is Jacob parin for the first time he’s batting for AJ Lucas who took that really scary fall at first Lucas stayed in the game but taking him out for precautionary reasons yeah I thought that might have been a little questionable that later on in the bat they had him steal I could he must be okay yeah yeah I was glad to see him CU I was standing right over there and I saw it and he he definitely it was one of those things where definitely landed awkward and you could tell that something wasn’t quite right so I was pretty happy uh to see him up and going pretty surprised like you that they told them to steal but hey that’s all right we’ll take it two nothing sodbusters we are in the top half of the fifth inning it’s Steve Stein it’s Scott Galan James Velasquez has a gem going another good start for this Hasting sidebuster crew as they’re starting pitching through the first five games really been four quality starts so far and the one game they didn’t have a quality start the Rally For the Win 11 to 10 yeah and you know what that that young man will give us quality starts uh Dalton was really really good in the spring he just kind of lost lost his way a little bit wasn’t finishing his breaking ball and uh um just kind of aiming it which is all three of those people he hit that night were all Breaking balls uh just got to finish that so he’s I’m not worried about him at all he’ll give us quality starts moving forward a rare wild pitch for James Velasquez who’s disappointed with that as there’s now a three and2 count on the batter runner in scoring position at second base as pin tried to bring him home s Busters do lead to by score of two nothing single runs in the third and the fourth Velasquez brings it in and ball four so an err and a walk and now the tying runs are aboard with the eight and N hitters coming up for the prospects yeah that’s not you know we again we got to do we got to do better U those are things that we can control and don’t want to have that problem at the bottom of the lineup and now we’re probably looking at possibly a bunting situation here although they don’t like to bunt a ton but with the bottom of the lineup in and runs kind of being at a premium I think we’re going to have to make a defensive play here Trent Barry’s 1 for on the year he pitched yesterday for this squad as he will step in the right-handed box Runners first and second one out maybe with the one out already on the board that takes the way the bunt possibility but the side Busters will have to be wary of all and there is a little bit of action it looks like down the the line nobody officially throwing yet but we saw some some scurrying in the bullpen for this Hasting Squad even though Velasquez just getting over 50 pitches now but throws this one outside and one ball in no strikes James losing his release point a little bit in this inning yeah I wouldn’t be surprised to see Joel hop out of here if he misses again and just kind of uh regroup a little bit and see but yeah seems like he’s lost his release point a little bit um he’s got to fight through it a little bit now three and 0 so walk the last guy pretty good control pitcher but uh the error and now maybe a loss of focus just a hair as he gives up the walk and now three and0 on Trent Barry I think it’s two and0 but I don’t know that for sure here we go I don’t know I don’t know that Shan Shan shows us but uh hopefully it’s 2-1 but again yeah come on James get us ground ball [Applause] here pitch in the dirt and that will allow Runners to now it is three and one with Allen going to Third and pin to Second and it gets a little bit tougher for James Velasquez here sidebuster on top two to nothing but the tying runs are in scoring position with only one man out here in the top half of the fifth you just hate to see it they have done nothing we have just put it on a silver platter for them here and we’re going to have to make a play hopefully get a ground ball at somebody there it is brings across strike two three and2 on Trent Barry Barry out of Northeast Community College a wahoo warrior in his high school days and Velasquez arizonan a lot of arizonans on that Hastings College roster now on the heting side Busters 3-2 pitch swing and a miss and a great job for Velasquez to come back and get a large strike out and now if he can find a way to get bner he survives this with no damage done that would be great you know James missed his spot again there but it was he missed it right that ball was supposed to be away he missed it on the inside part of the plate but I think it was a strike obviously and a swinging to miss is great now we just got to make a play here we got a chance to get out of this we need to get it done Warner grounded out to third is last time up and we’ve seen solid Third Base play from Leo sarataro as sarataro charged and threw out a player on a really good play and then that pick play where he just basically had to dive grab it and apply the tag to Blake Stinger on that caught stealing on a really good throw over from Velasquez sodbusters continue to play pretty good defense they do have two errors on the board today again we’re making plays though you know um the thing yes had way nice job Leo right on Q good play for us there you know our two airs um you know those are those I can live with we’re making the plays we’re supposed to make that was kind of a communication air and a wind air that by dlon there but James did a great job to get us out of there and hold another zero but I think he is tiring so I would guess um that that Bullpen is going to crank up pretty quick James Velasquez as far as pitch count really that was his uh most stressful inning and he’s thrown 63 pitches 19 of those in that inning sodbusters will try to add on to a two nothing lead as they faced recent high school graduate Colton hula hamula has thrown 77 pitches struck out six walk four and the sidebuster getting single runs and each the third and the fourth Vega with a single and a run scored and Sawyer dlon just continues to find a way to get on base a walk and he ended up scoring on the fielders Choice Grinders Matias croll busted it down the line was able to uh get in there to avoid a double play and the side Busters will get on the board for their second run yeah we just need to continue to execute here I’d like to see us keep the foot on the pedal here and uh and try to keep adding one across and put a little bit more pressure on them and with 77 pitches uh I’d like to see if we can extend him a little bit here and get in that Bullpen a little bit earlier and I think that gives us an advantage right now just because we’ve got some depth over there matter of fact I got to talk to you about Marcus Miller before I go so Marcus Miller wasn’t scheduled to pitch today um but we we’re bringing him in uh to to maybe throw at the end of the game but he also works for Amigos okay and so let me get to that here after this pitch sodbusters will have drew Vega at the plate and he Tak strike one again Vega with a single a stolen base and then scored on two wild pitches back in the third so I swung by Amigos today to pay for our postgame meal today and Marcus Miller is literally jumping up and down in the parking lot and and if you know Marcus he doesn’t always talk very much so I’m like is this I don’t I just kind of giggled and looked at him and I’m like what are you jumping around for Marcus he goes well I’m making tacos for us and then I’m going to come pitch I said all right perfect so he was pretty tickled that he’s going to make tacos and he’s going to put a uniform on and come pitch for us which is which is fine so I just thought it was pretty interesting that Marcus was so excited that he had a dual purpose job tonight he’s going to go get his three outs at some point and he’s going to make 240 tacos for a lot of young men today Drew Vega grounds to Third Base solid play for Gage Allen who guns him down one up one down here in the bottom of the fifth inning alexio Delgado will come to the play Delgato with a walk and to strike out his first two plate appearances the D1 guy out of Carolina University y know I just think he’s still a little on the nervous side I think he’s going to be really really good we got to just he’s just got to let it Loose he’s he’s sort of trying not to make a mistake right now uh so he just needs to play and he’s going to be really good for us sidebuster so solid yesterday as they scored six runs right after you left the fifth inning got over and the sodbusters have two magical six Innings the last two days nice play on both sides wow solid grounder down to Third and Gage Allen flashes the glove and the arm to gun down alexel delato who runs pretty well yes he does perfect play I mean he kept his glove down on the glove side stuck that right foot in the ground and threw a BB over there what a what a well well well played ball by uh what did you say his name was that is Gage Jen Belleview West and Rockhurst University man nice Play here’s Josh printer printer ow for two a pop up on a strike out as a printer so solid on the left side of the infield and we were talking about it with uh with Ryan earlier as the pitch is going to be grounded to the left side to the shortstop and the throw is not going to be in time it’s an infield single for Josh printer but how about Josh printer with a healthy arm this year I mean I thought he had a pretty good arm last year when he wasn’t healthy and this year oh my gosh my gosh I tell you what he gutted it out last year’s seeve we we had a practice uh two days before our first game and he cut a ball loose from short stop and he said I heard stuff pop and uh so we you know we had to we got him some X-rays and some MRI and there was no damage but he was playing on a on a at best an arm and a half and he just continued to gut it out and played some first base for us last year played some second base for us last year just trying to take care of his arm but he’s uh he’s flashed some leather today and I and I’m not even sure he’s our best shortstop you know Matt work is working on that um he’s got a growing issue that just it does he don’t think we don’t think he re-aggravated it but it’s a little stiff so give another day off today a day off tomorrow and we’re going to see if we can’t get both those guys up the middle when we get to Casper on Tuesday crazy stuff soyer dudon batting now for the Hastings side Busters two walks a run scored as he continues to push up his on base percentage and has been one of the leaders here early on for this Hastings Squad just what you kind of thought after he was uh certainly a leader two years ago on this team absolutely you know he and then uh two years ago at uh Arkansas Tech he was really really good middle lineup guy and then he went somewhere else last summer which which you know get a new experience we get it didn’t play very good last summer and then really struggled this spring and called me in December said I’d like to come back and so we took him back and we just he’s just kind of plug and play and he’s kind of back to the same Sawyer we saw a couple years ago two two two outs runner at first and the pitch to D to dudon and he could not pull the trigger he knew it as he strikes out looking the infield single does not pay dividends no runs one hit and the sidebuster turned away in the fifth it’s the fifth inning with Steve doing play byplay and Scott here which Tak about seven minutes it doesn’t take very often sometimes but hey that’s all right we’ll keep hanging zeros and get after it let’s let’s finish this off with four in the top of the sixth inning next pitch is laced into center field and it just Falls in front of alexio Delgado leadoff hitter Blake Stinger stays hot his third single in as many trips today he is three for three today and it’s been amazing that the Hastings been able to keep them off the board with that guy on the bases to uh lead off three innings yet no runs across yet but the prospects will’ll see if Fred Bond can work his magic after James Vasquez was excellent with Runners behind him pitch way outside stopped by koll so for Fred Bond he’s a Scottdale Community College guide hails from Chandler Arizona in the spring season played 12 games but they were all just in the field Runner goes throw to Second gets away from Drew Vega and another stolen base for Blake Stinger who swiped second Stanger eight stolen bases this year now he’s got some disappointment too as he’s tried to get to third in each of the last two games and has been gunned down there but now scoring position runner for the Nebraska prospects see if Stinger gets cute again tries to make something happen Fred Bond delivers strike one to Tyler Palmer Palmer’s Had A Quiet Series Tyler Palmer is 0 for two today in his appearances at the plates pitch grounded to the left side and just foul beyond the reach of Leo sarnataro which will not matter with the foul ball already action behind Bond it could be just one inning for Fred we may just kind of see this being a bullpen game from now on there is a lefty getting ready and that my friends is Marcus Miller even without binoculars we can tell that that’s Marcus down there taco man two balls two strikes to Tyler Palmer working at Amigos today delivering Amigos to the stadium tonight and pitching an inning what a day for Marcus Miller let’s go Marcus swinging a Miss Palmer goes upstairs and Fred Bond has a strikeout in his first appearance on the bump for the Busters very good just kind of climbing the hill right there and Palmer could not lay off the high hard one and still got to try to get by three and four if you’re Fred Bond to keep this zero on the board for the prospect uh so far 82 milph on the punch out there Blake Stinger Still Remains at seconds but not for long he’s going to swipe third easily this time as he was running right on the pitch as Fred Bond did not pay close enough attention so Stanger finally third times the charm able to swipe third base and he represents the first run for the prospects with one out the batter is Elliot Peterson and bond drops in a breaking ball for strike two one ball and excuse me no balls and two strikes Peterson has grounded out into a double play and was hit by a pitch TS croll blocks the fast ball into the turf one ball and two strikes something interesting also that relief get him some action in relief he was the opening day starter against Fremont on Tuesday but he comes on after a few days of rest and um apparently uh Scott like Scott told us that Marcus was uh helping uh bring dinner here tonight so I mean this comes full circle you’re still working while you’re playing summer baseball you’re not always just hanging out and playing ball and you talk about the epitome of a Scott galoa sodbuster Scott does it all and now Marcus does it all the supper that they will eat after the game and he is going to pitch in that same game kind of in the same mold as as the the guy who’s the administrative assistant he’s one of the pitchers Josh kilzer for the Nebraska prospects he’s interning this summer so he has to do all the travel plans and then pitch every three or four days for the Nebraska prospects kind of a kind of a cool deal and now we’re going to have a little bit of a mound issue apparently Mounds malfunction Trevor and Jason out there uh trying to fix the mound a little bit better because apparently something is not right there on the turf bump and that’s with that little kind of a piece of padding that you can see there so it’s not just uh One Singular Mound they do have a pad there to probably prevents decay of the mound cuz probably fixing just one piece of the mound and if there wasn’t that padding on it would be a lot more probably beneficial than just having a little padding on top of it helps keep the mound around for longer I would say most guys don’t really pay that much attention to it we’ve always see Brendan wobic really seemed to be bothered by it last night and uh and now it of course Marcus Miller if anybody’s used to pitching at it he was a Hastings High guy and and of course a Hastings College guy too so he knew that something was a miss and I I think they’ve got it fixed now and hopefully that will not affect his left-handed delivery really a hard luck loser pitched certainly well enough to not give up four runs on nine hits a lot of soft contact a lot of soft hits in that loss to Fremont and he looks for a better outing really big moment here as he tries to get this third out without the tying run coming across for the Nebraska prospects in a 2-1 game Marcus Miller made two starts against Nebraska last year one of them not so good the other one a little bit better so he’s going to see this team again this season and called upon in a relatively high pressure situation the game TI run at second base Bryce Waller takes strike one on the outside corner from Marcus Miller once again Staple in the Hastings College rotation weighs about the same looks like as he does last year but uh he’s put on a little bit of V that fastball last year really sitting around the high 70s it’s cranked up to to the low 80s this year as Marcus has to adjust the mound a little bit one ball and one strike to Bryce Waller here it comes that just misses the outside corner and not by much Waller has grounded out twice he tapped back to the pitcher in the uh second inning and grounded out to second in the fifth now two and one Nico saw at second base after his double to the right side a sliding stop Drew Vega over to First in time to save the lead for now the sunbuster infield has been airtight in these first four games and the sodbusters keep the lead after the prospects push one across one run on two hits and one left for the prospects pasting will try to get a run or maybe two maybe more back in the bottom of the sixth hi I’m a baseball umpire my job can get pretty stressful I have to keep my think if if you have an unsecure plant foot I just think that would be an awful feeling and so try to find a way to uh to uh to come down without you know twisting an ankle twisting a knee and H is going to get a an opportunity to see if it’s worked your old Skipper right out there with him and he didn’t have a and probably a little tentative after you know if your foot gives away the last time you’re probably going to test it a little bit to make sure that okay let’s see if the carpet is solid now it’s still moving I don’t know that’s making a little bit of an indent on it I mean we haven’t seen that at all yet this season but uh coming to play here as Hoka will finish his warm-up pitches for the sunbusters it’s going to be Jack Borgman Ryan Jarvis and Tyler Welsh the three scheduled for the Busters it just has a wrinkle pretty much every time he lands and uh hopefully that’s something that they can remedy between games of course they going to have a long time uh before the next sidebuster game but there’s going to be a lot of Hasting Legion games and hopefully they find a way to to get that remedied uh in short order three Hastings Legion teams playing at Duncan field this season five points Bank the Johnson Imperial holes and Runza three teams spending their summer also here Sharon with the Busters at Duncan field Hoka delivers ball one and Stomps right on that little carpet and you can see that it is bent up and not to his liking Jack Borgman the leadoff hitter swings and misses at the breaking ball there just about fell down we got to do something I I don’t know it’s weird you know we’re going to have rain uh at 956 or at 946 I think they had said so trying to get this game in but right now we just have terrible Mound issues and Hoka just tosses the the carpet aside we’re gonna have to give more get uh something else to uh to get this thing playable at this point and you can see under it there is pretty much nothing underneath it like it is for the regular Turf so almost like a half slip and slide for your plant foot which is a recipe for disaster yeah and like I said it’s you don’t want to get anybody hurt regardless and hula almost went down uh with that particular situation and I’m not sure where coach Skipper maybe he’s gone to try to get something to uh to have an opportunity to to fix it you wouldn’t think that this would be the first time that this is happened here at at Duncan field uh but uh right now I think we probably should have a little delay just for the safety of of your pitchers and now coach Skipper is out and they’re trying to they’ve got another carpet so maybe you dual carpet it Trevor overmiller what what’ you think you’re going to be doing today Trevor one of the one of the guys Scott galou out there as well probably and uh a u going to be doing some carpet repair to the Mount so so they’re going to ditch the one set of carpet they’ve they’re going to get the handy dandy vacuum out again and uh well we’ve Fremont 4-2 Spearfish four and five and Hawai 2- six it would be fun to play Vermont instead of Fremont play Fremont way too much and uh and so to bring Vermont into the league the road trip would be hack but when they come here we’d have a good time uh prospect’s the only other team to play there one and three there’s a couple other travel teams the bison and the plainsmen who will be hitting the field a little bit later on this summer I think the the plainsmen their first game is actually going to be here later on this summer we’ll have a chance to see the the plainsmen on June 18th and 19th then they’ll make a return trip a little bit later on the plainsmen originally located in North Plat and there’s hopes that that will be a full-time member of the independence league again in the future but all that remains to be seen kind of the same thing with the Bison they were the gim City bison but they lost their home and so they’ve got some guys are going to get together and play about 15 games or so they also hope to be a full-time member of The League next year but right now it’s just the five teams that’ll be available for the playoffs then you’ve got the prospects this Nebraska Allstar team tremendous players from the metro area and just the early returns I mean last year it felt like every time the prospects came out they were having two or three guys thrown in the ’90s we haven’t really seen that kind of pitchers here in the in the first couple of days now I’m not sure what else they’ve got from a pitching stand point but uh they were loaded last year they were just a lot of fun to watch unless you had to play them 25 and N the side Busters won four out of the nine matchups against them a year ago but you feel like maybe it’s a a little bit younger team very talented still but they may not have the almost Major League velocity guys that it felt like they had on their staff a year go from a pitching standpoint well Round of Applause for the grounds crew if you will obviously with the turf infield not really much need for a a ground srel but Trevor and uh one of the one of the gals down there making sure that mound is finally playable so we’ll get back to it with a one ball one strike count to Jack Borgman that does look a lot better it looks like that fresh piece of carpet not really twisting or two tilting much pitch to Borgman way up high that’s for a ball Borgman on the day he is 0 for two quiet day for him so far has struck out and grounded out now a two- two pitch to Borgman chops it to the left side Allen at third makes the long throw and just in time that one a bang bang play at first as Allen taking quite a bit of time there but ends up making the play by half a step he had an elite level play lasted and it continues to look very solid over there at third base at Rockhurst product now Ryan Jarvis will bat left-handed hitter is 0 for one has lined out and walked he smokes a ball to right field going way back is the right fielder sa and that ball is right off the wall and a couple of hops Jarvis hits the bag at second he’s got three easily a mammo shot that is gone in most ballparks but we’ll take a triple there he’s one base away from giving the sidebuster some insurance that is a home run in every other ballpark the gee that was a shot and he shouts to The Dugout as he hits the third base bag it does not get hit much harder than that and even I think aul is smiling and that was smoked and they come out and visit the mound after that I think that is going to be it for Colton nula who had a really good day and uh kept his team in it in his first Prospect start but it looks like they’ll turn to the bullpen 95 pitches for Hoka he gives up a moonshot to Ryan Jarvis who has a triple and the first triple for the interesting role with this Nebraska prospects team Steve yeah Josh kelzer is a Wayne State student still but he’s got an internship with the Nebraska Prospect so he has to set all the travel plans he has to plan the meals he is the right-hand man to the coach and basically the right-hand man of the owner of the prospects and on the weekends uh he his paid gig is to run all the youth tournaments for the Nebraska prospects uh and by the way still needing to work out and play baseball and and you know the word is he’s trying to get an opportunity to maybe play professionally but wants to be in sports Administration and his head coach at Wayne State says dude you got the stuff uh play two good years and uh maybe you’ll have a chance to go play some minor leagues and then um you’ll kind of be set and have a chance to go work in baseball administratively if you want to so kind of a kind of a cool story and and a neat guy and he’s the one that sent us the rosters and now he’s in the game that is a very cool story so Josh kzer comes on he’s going to try and keep the sodbusters off the board in the sixth inning Ryan Jarvis with a tank of a shot to right field for a one out triple he stands there for Tyler Welsh the infield is in as kilzer delivers ball one downstairs kills are 4- one in the spring 4.25 ra and 29 and 2/3 for the Wayne State wildcat main State Wildcats made a bit of a run in the nsic conference tournaments that’s where their season ended Welsh High Chopper over the third base bag but just foul that one that one might have been a perfectly Place Chopper that gets over the head of the infield but not to be so kilzer is making his second appearance on the mound this season two innings pitched in his prior game two hits four earned runs a walk a strikeout and a hit batter a 14 ER the one-1 pitch to Tyler Welsh good breaking ball and Welsh bits on it in that game that just mentioned that was on May the 30th against Spearfish and that was the game the only game that the prospects won in that series 2-1 to Welsh pass ball low for B all three so Steve what do you think Killer’s got to do professionally after he gets done pitching he thinks he goes right back to the computer and start making some more plans yeah I mean in terms of yes that’s exactly what it is he he knows he’s got his postgame meal tonight uh because that’s already planned 31 Welsh High Chopper and that’s going to get the job done and Welsh will beat the throw at first the infield in I guess you can say the prospects a high Chopper perfectly placed and that is the third run of the game the Busters have another it’s three to one they were going to get the Run anyway but they get the bonus of having the infield single really all that young man could do TR Trenton Barry kind of had to retreat did a good job of of throwing to first but now runner at first and the sodbusters extend the lead to two it’ll be matus koll now he drove home one of the gamees runs he hits a soft Tapper back to kzer who thinks about second but doesn’t he goes on to First and out is coll at first base the second baseman excuse me the first baseman Palmer grabs it just in time wonder if kilzer lost his footing a little bit or that’s why he decided not to throw to second he looked down at the turf he totally stumbled was going to go to Second and then okay can I still get the out at first good presence of M to hang in there and get the out but now there’s a run and scoring position with two outs for the side Busters it’s Leo sarataro who had a tough day in his second game as struck out twice one looking one swinging for Leo didn’t see much action for the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys in the spring a red shirt freshman played in six games only two at bats but he got a hit in hattrick Allen Still Remains at first they’ve checked on him once right back over up the middle and into center field for a base hits advancing to second is Gage Allen and barin excuse me Barry sends it right back up where it came from and that is the six hit for the prospects in the ball game that insurance run looking a little bigger in the sixth and now the tying runs on again for the prospects Hastings wind still persisting although is not as heavy as game time just slightly blowing in straight from center field pitch to borner look out oh that might have gotten somebody in the prospect Dugout and foul ball there all hands appear to be all right there did have somebody Crouch down but perhaps a glancing blow one two for Miller hit in the air to left field Jarvis Retreats now over to his left and makes the catch second out of the inning recorded in the Outfield and the sodbusters one out closer to getting out of this good job for Jarvis good pitch from Miller final in the independence league Casper has beaten Spearfish 7 to1 C Casper improving to five and one Spearfish falling to four and six so no matter the outcome of this game the sodbusters will not be able to take over First Place Casper loss in a Hastings win could have now with two outs the second place excuse me the top of the order Stanger he sends it right back up the middle again Delgato gets to it the throw comes all the way in and in safely is Gage Allen a four for four day for Blake Stinger to give the prospects their second run of the game my goodness so back to a one-run game at 3-2 and Stinger I guess the good news is he’s at first unless he’s involved in a double steal he’s not going to steal a base this time but first and second two outs now they have the tying run and go-ahead run on here in the seventh inning so now it’s up to Tyler Palmer the Ty run in scoring position Miller takes a look at second at Trent Barry and delivers a strike on the outside corner so seven hits for the off to pretty good start he was shut down yesterday the Southeast Community College and Millard West brought out Cory kette is 250 for the year but 0 for four yesterday against the Hastings sodbusters as we get things rolling here in inning number eight Marcus Miller is out there going an ending and a third allowing a run on three hits after Fred Bon allowed a run in his two-thirds inning of work James Velasquez a solid five innings to begin just 63 pitches thrown two hits four strikeouts and one walk and one and0 the count on Kad as the pitch is rifled to right field Sawyer dudon on his horse gets back and makes the catch a fairly loud out to begin the eighth inning but Kad is out prospects so far through the lineup this is going to be Miller’s ninth batter face but most guys putting in pretty good swings and pretty good contact into them three hits already and even the couple of fly balls that were not outs were struck pretty well ni go Sol big swing no contact no balls on strike men the fact the wind dying a little bit it was really helping the pitchers in the early part of the game at about 15 to 20 miles hour we do expect a wind change and the wind to increase before the evening is over as the pitch is swung on and missed quickly two strikes on Nico Saul Saul with a double his last time up he is one for three on the day for the Nebraska prospects trailing at 3-2 top half of the eighth inning high drama at Duncan field the pitch outside sodbuster fans thought it was strike three it was not one and two the count as Saul steps back in Lefty versus Lefty and the pitch bounced off of Saul in the Batters box took a weird hop and fielded cleanly by Marcus Miller Saul apparently no worse for the hit I think it may have gone right off of that shinard which is why you have it one and two the count one out sidebuster trying to keep that tying run off the plate here in the eighth it’s Marcus Miller’s game to this point there is no no action of the bullpen pitch just misses outside could not get Saul to offer at that one and two and two the count as sa going to have some laundry to do before it’s all set down it’s probably going to be kzer that has to do it though because he’s the administrative assistant he apparently got his normal Jersey something on it so he’s wearing 32 instead of 31 today this pitch misses outside now it’s three and two more grumbling from sidebuster fans and a big pitch coming up here as Marcus Miller trying to keep that tying run off the plate set to go and here comes the payoff pitch low for ball four Miller looks to the Outfield in disgust after being way in front of Ni Saul and now it’s going to be the five and six hitters coming up trying to deliver for the prospects definitely a hold your breath type of moment here you’ve got that base runner on and it was Saul that kind of got things started with that double in the sixth inning to kind of get the prospect some life pitch is in there for a strike as Bryce unless he can come through right here uh Jack ggman is at the plate now he’s had such a great start of the year but oh0 for three with a strike out and a couple of ground outs and interesting to see with Borgman the way he swings as he’s asked to bunt probably not no Borgman stands in the right-handed box dudleston leads away does have a stolen base but not the fastest of the crew and they’ve got a pretty good catcher back there in coad but the ball gets away from him it’s a wild pitch and dudon will advance to Second regardless as he’ll be in scoring position and now your RBI guy has a great chance with the runner in scoring position and nobody else Steve keep jinxing them whatever you’re doing I don’t know how you’re doing it but whatever you’re saying that’s working as the pitch from kzer in the turf and Kad could not keep it in front now runner in scoring position and nobody outs with a very important insurance run out there there is action apparently behind Miller in the Hastings Bullpen as see if Marcus is going to start the ninth or if it’s going to be somebody else and how big will the lead be the count now is two balls and one one strike on Jack Borgman he’s already come up with some big hits in the first four games for the side Busters how about another for the South Dakota State Jack grabbit pitch outside Kad a good stop there as Kad in there for Elliot Peterson came in as a pinch hitter and lined out to right field now he is behind home plate and the count three and one on Borgman can be selective Sawyer dlon leads away from second kilzer takes a look back there brings home the pitch bouncing ball left side third baseman r Treat sets throws in time and dudleston can’t Advance Gage Allen has been a rock over a third and even on the retreat still enough on that to get out Jack Borgman and there’s a runner at second with one out now for Ryan Jarvis and a better play by Palmer to just keep his foot on the bag long enough that was one of although there is action behind him and now welz trying to come through with another big performance here in the eighth adbusters up by one with Runners at the corners pitches low in the dirt it gets away it’ll allow the runner to advance from first to second but not far enough to get the run home from third but it takes away the double play and that is large as Kad couldn’t handle it cleanly and Jarvis is at second dudon at Third Field coming in now and that yeah that makes your hitter a little better now lot of holes out there if you hit one hard one-1 pitch on Welch swinging a Miss blew it by him kilzer would love a strike out right here hilzer has one strike out no walks he’s been around the Zone tried to find a way to wiggle out of trouble here a strikeout would Loom large Wells trying to put the ball in play and see what happens a long weit and the pitch curveball foul back really good job of wels to get a piece of that one and live to see one that maybe he has a better crack at and those curveballs that finish high and in a lot of those hitters will give up on it right away CU it looks like it’s a fast ball coming right in but while staring it down and like you said low one ball and one strike on Matias koll dudleston runs at third Jarvis at second Jarvis at the multi-hit game he’s been productive in each of his three sidebuster games so far one- one pitch on the way bouncing ball to the left side the Short Stops got it the set the throw in time and the S Busters turned away missing a big opportunity but they are three outs away from a four-game winning streak a high strikeout guy he’s got the velocity has the breaking ball can they Dodge the prospects lineup they’ve got the middle to lower part of it coming up as it will be Allen parin and Barry to face the fourth pitcher of the day for the Hastings sodbusters Braden cork this was such an issue a year ago try to close things out say you feel like you’ve got much more of a strikeout potential with many of the guys and first pitch swinging no contact for Gage Allen struck out reached on an air and singled one for three with a run scored for Gage Allen his single and run scored in his last play appearance in the seventh where in the ninth now and a swinging a Miss no balls two strikes and Braden cork does not waste any time he is at top the hill and ready to go O2 pitch on the way hard hit ball to the left side it’s going to be fielded by printer backand throw in time well I thought that was going to go harder than it was it actually really checked up and a tough little hop for printer who had to go from his right to his left to backand at and get a big first out in the ninth inning well Steve I think printer thought the same thing with you too is that he froze initially and then had to kind of make an awkward backhand and still able to make the throw no pictures on the scorecard Jacob Baron takes strike one no balls and a strike nothing but strike so far for the Northeast Hawk Braden cork 01 pitch on the way strike two foul tipped into the glove of Matias croll and cork is cooking at this point Braden cork Millard North Mustang in high school 02 pitch on the way swing and a miss a ground out and a strike out and you got to think Cork’s a little more amped up against a team like the prospects all these guys from the Metro probably played with some of them played done in a lot of different ways starting pitching again James Vel last goes five innings no runs two hits good Bullpen competition Fred Bond comes in Works two-thirds of an inning allows a run on two hits Marcus Miller two in the third Innings one run on three hits and then Braden cork oh my goodness one two three looked dominant and that has been so much fun this year when the sidebuster have needed to get it done in the ninth they’ve had dudes to do it and there’s going to be some competition for that closers rooll but the early front runner is that guy Braden Cork and I mean this team they’ve used pretty different lineups I mean they’ve used kind of the same Five Guys in each of the five games now at the top of the lineup but for the other four guys it just seems that whoever they’re slotting in to that role on defense or offense like they’re holding their own we haven’t seen anybody like well uh we know they’re not going to be starting anytime soon I mean this is just something thebusters did not have last year they just had there’s everyday guys and but the whole vast ocean of depth this year anybody that comes up to the plate in defense has been able to get it done this year and I’m sure Joel Skipper will Joel Skipper will agree with us hey let’s uh we we’ll do the Box in a moment but let’s get Joel’s perspective uh initial impression after a 3-2 win over the prospects yeah just finding great ways to win um you know I thought great pitching performances out of all our pitchers tonight uh made some big plays and some key spots there uh Drew vag a great night at second base made a couple clutch plays turned a couple double plays thought Leo start ataro um did a great job as well um and then hitters maybe not our best night hitting um but we got the job done when we needed to and you lost some opportunities on the bases again but some timely hitting to and Jarvis comes through with two hits TI or Welch it was Hastings College night so only appropriate two infield singles and a huge Insurance run for him to produce in that in that spot absolutely I thought Jarvis’s ball was going to be out for a minute but maybe a different win night wind was blowing straight in tonight but yeah wellsh did a great job um you know really base hit strong base hit but just kind of hit it where they weren’t that works all the same scoring runs and producing for us so proud of Tyler tonight so now five games into the season you’ve had a chance to kind of mix and match your lineup I mean you’ve have like we said you have so many guys that can slide in on each way but uh just how much confidence does it give you just knowing that you can just slide anybody in wherever you want and you’re going to get us great production out of anybody there gives you lot of confidence as a coaching staff um the guys you know who haven’t played every day this week uh Stu up um when they needed to kind of talked about Drew and Leo already um Jarvis is stepping into a great role kind of can mix him around um so it’s just great to have some depth U good problem to have so we’re going to keep mixing it up and keep uh giving guys opportunities I think um kind of long term is going to help our guys stay fresh throughout the whole summer is Fred Bond a pitcher we threw him in there as a bridge guy I don’t know if he’s pitched for a while um so we just kind of um you know wanted to save for some big this big road trip coming up so we got him in there Miller came in did a tremendous job and cor what a performance out of him just coming in slamming the door shot tell us about that road trip uh we’re going to miss you Joel It’s you’re going to be um away from us up to the north for quite a while but uh so on those two weeks that you’re going to not be back I mean we saw last year you got to visit some sight scenes got to visit Mount Rushmore with the guys tell us about um what these next few weeks are going to look like team chemistry building events and just overall the first trip on the road for the guys yeah well they’ve already built uh so much great chemistry out of the gates here so it’s going to be fun you know being on a bus ride for seven eight hours um and kind of just just kind of going around you know South Dakota is going to be a lot of fun in Wyoming so uh we hadn’t been up to Wyoming yet so that should be pretty fun um Casper I think’s in first place um so it should be a big three game so want to hopefully uh take that series I think we got our pitching lined up um so really looking forward to that and it is so much fun it’s obviously more fun when you’re winning but the way this team has started I mean you knew probably had some different dudes this year but just talk a about the overall uh review of of play for this first home stand I just love it um love it I think all our four wins we’ve kind of done it in different ways uh pitchers were strong hitters were strong one night defense was strong and tonight we kind of all put it together um so that was really cool to see and I think we’ve had a couple close wins a comeback win in there um so that just builds your confidence I think in all um you know three phases of the game so I’m really excited you know to build that chemistry really early on and gain that confidence and hopefully take it on the RO with us he’s Joel Skipper head coach for the Hasting row baby about a four game win streak as the sodbusters win this 3 to2 we were in the middle of talking numbers here from an offensive standpoint like I say only six hits but two multi-hit games Ryan Jarvis with that monster shot that triple uh as he goes two for three with a run scored and the tier Welsh got to love that gets his opportunity first start of the year goes DH two infield hits but brings home a large Insurance run and just situational hitting yeah missed an opportunity to bunt here there didn’t do everything right uh but the pitching was good enough to overcome that and just a lot of good signs as we get set to take a break from our broadcasting and let the guys go on the road for hopefully a successful road trip yep and like I said it’s been a breath of fresh air this was a sidebuster team as you may remember it took 10 games for them to win just one game now they’ve got four wins in five games total so what you’re going to be able
