football season win totals just a couple of them though love it couple of them to wet your appetite you know used to pronounce what like that Ron flatter why Gil why who what where oh okay that’s enough uh John legasa instant offense the microwave will join us as well to talk with his baseball picks today Paul car will talk soccer with us as well his uh thoughts on the Champions League final uh and a uh how can I put this Kelly you know yesterday I had a day to reflect it’s May 30th 2024 uh you know you know what I did yesterday by the way it’s a California back uh and so I had a lot of time to uh had a lot of time to reflect and uh one of the things I reflected upon was you sort of saying you know Gil for the content we need a June June MLB bet and I said after after the March April Cleveland Guardians gut punch and out way from cashing a 65 to1 and then after the Guardians and by the way again shout out to the Guardians you have given me two months of Awesomeness despite not cashing uh they come one game shy this this game today doesn’t mean anything to them because they’ll end up third or at least they’re in third right now it’s between by the way the Yankees and Phillies will update that later I said to myself self maybe you should look over June’s schedules in Major League Baseball and so um by the way here’s your most wins by the end of May update Yankees heading into tonight after their five run win over the uh Angels yesterday 8 to3 Yankees are 20 and S Phillies are 19 and seven and there’s our poor Guardians at 18 and N right after that ah poor out of 40 for the guards and I feel bad for jvt too right didn’t he had Phillies too Phillies and Guardians is he at a dead heat or is he at Circa I can’t remember I’m guessing Circa but I don’t yeah if he’s at Circa he’s out uh if he’s at a dead heat shop Phillies win Yankees lose Phillies and Yankees can tie yeah um Yankees are at San Francisco you know how giant Giants magic go Phillies hosting the Cardinals um so I looked over June schedules and you know at first they weren’t at Circa right they were only at at Caesar’s William Hill and I was like oh okay it’s only a one shop and it’s a dead heat I’m not sure how interested I am not that I wouldn’t be interested necessarily Dead Heat but sometimes I’m more interested in the circle rules um and then I was like oh well the Dodgers they clearly should be the short shot we’ll get into all of it later anyway I made a play Kelly and it’s coming up like it hour number two on the show why hour number two you ask because I’d like to even bet more this morning that’s why hour number two uh so we’ll get into all that we’ll go through the whole the whole handicapping process of that uh first the NBA last night the Dallas Mavericks are taking on the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals that will begin on Thursday at the TD Garden in Boston remember it’s a 22111 1985 through 2014 they switched the NBA champ the NBA Finals to a 232 because in those days 1985 it was so of in the Celtics and Lakers that David Stern the commissioner was like ah let’s reduce travel by this point Celtics Lakers Coast to Coast let’s go 232 well when Adam Silver took over 2014 he’s like yeah not so much 22111 because we get more randos and take for instance this one Dallas Boston that ain’t Coast to Coast so we have 22111 like the standard playoff series that exist pre NBA Finals um and last night case you missed it you didn’t miss much it was 18 to 18 Mavericks went on a 12 to nothing run to go up 30 to 18 at that point in the game already 30 to 18 Luca had 20 points on eight of 10 shooting four for five from behind the arc by the way that was part of what ended up a as a 17 to1 Run for the Mavs to conclude the first quarter they were up 35-19 16-point lead after the first quarter yeah it was uh it was Luca 20 Minnesota 19 at the end of the first that’s right second quarter more of the same second verse same as the first I believe someone once said Mavs led by as many as 23 early 46 to 23 they were doubling up the t-wolves they closed the half on an 11-2 run they were up 29 at the half 69 to 40 at that point Luka had 25 Kyrie 19 third quarter they led by as many as 36 82 to 46 uh led by 24 at the end of the quarter 9793 they went at 124 to 103 the Tim Timberwolves could never get it lower than 21 points I couldn’t by the time it got into the second half I mean you how many times have we talked about NBA games and you’re like all right there’s live betting opportunities like these is a it’s a game of runs like there’s going to be I was the first time in a while I’m not saying I bet it this way or anything first time a while like that by by halftime I was like this is over this this is over think didn’t I send you a at the Wolves bench yelling at a fan some fan had brought a handkerchief I believe is what uh is what got reported for his crying Lucas crying good little bit until he starts draining every shot in the building at you um and so there you have it Mavericks you going by the way uh you would like to say anything as we pour out a 40 not not a Cancun a one two3 Cancun thing but anything you want to say about the Timberwolves and closing um let’s all not overreact I guess I would say that and there’s going to be a lot of I mean I where were we a series ago with this team after they just beat the Denver Nuggets and now it feels like all this Fallout is is coming because of Carl Anthony towns and Rudy goar and all this stuff and this was still by far the best defensive team in the league next year let’s just let’s all take a breath and we can reapo things of the offseason will Hill said this he said imagine imagine tell the Timberwolves after they came back from 20 to beat the Nuggets in game seven hey you know 11 days from now you’re going to be out of here yeah what what do you mean we’re awesome not so I don’t know why it feels like this year even more than more so than others like the the instant reaction we want to have to everything right Anthony Edwards is Michael Jordan like you know they beat the Nuggets it’s yeah you know this morning it’s where does Luca donic fall in the greatest players of all time like he’s awesome but like can we let him win Championship first maybe how about what I brought up thank God we’re not going to have to readjudication the Kyrie trade’s going to look like one of the best trades ever well also the narrative is going to be all week how Kyrie left the Celtics that conflict oh that and porzingis you got the porzingis Kyrie absolutely and it should be should be so I I I’ve said this in different ways for the last couple weeks but once the Nuggets got boun um it was clear to me that I had no sense for these Western Conference playoffs if I mean there’s really no sense to have in the Eastern Conference it was that straightforward but I I feel that way now after this series as well um and so here we are now the Mavericks and the Celtics and dare I say I think I I feel like I am part of the crowd of people and by by crowd I mean every human being I’ve talked to with the exception of Drew Deni likes the Mavericks here that scares me a little bit because I do like the Mavericks at this price uh Steve fzk only back-to-back winner of the uh hilon super contest on the football side he sent he sent me this text this morning and I love this because you know with Stevie it’s always advice and then calling out people even if there’s nothing to be called out he says Gilly I bet Dallas uh two to one and plus 190 he gives himself a fine because he bet it before he said anything uh he said circus still has plus 185 this is Dallas in the NBA finals on the series price he says I strongly believe the market is going to back Dallas The Narrative is going to be that Boston is a paper tiger built for regular built for a regular season uh and injury three straight Series so if you’re going to back Dallas I would bet them now because I think this line is going down if you like Boston wait until post to get them I completely agree with that uh here’s the here’s the part that I love though he goes on to say he says also I don’t want to hear any blank about anyone getting two to1 or plus 195 that did because I was all over the openers and that was me that got it that got those in pocket right after the games and I want to see the tickets if they claim so there it is on brand couldn’t get was I asked him on ER go do what do you think you care more about winning money or calling other people Dumbo and he’s like Dumbo um oh that’s great that’s so great by the way you can parse this out of obviously more than just a series price um you can bet this game by game first of all over 5 and a half is atus 150 so slightly Juiced to the over in terms of 5 and a half games the unders at plus 125 Celtics sweep is 6 to1 a Maverick sweep is 19 to1 that of course is a long shot Celtics in seven is plus 350 Mavs in seven is 8 to one the shortest of all shots is not the Celtics in seven a tick shorter than that is the Celtics in five at plus 340 mhm yeah that is that is not going to happen I don’t I I don’t think so but we’ll we’ll see I I I actually think Drew on with us the other day was the perfect just just to sum up what the Celtics are where it’s for a lot of NBA betters they’ve just broken his brain right I mean like we asked him a fair what what is a price that a fair price for him on the NBA Finals with the Mavericks he’s like I mean minus 400 it should be for Celtics but he’s like they’ve broken my they’ve broken my numbers this uh this postseason he’s like I can’t get there so this postseason also last postseason that broke exactly um so I’m really interested see I mean this that porzingis has to be back it sounds like he will be but man I think with those types of injuries and those types of players I I’m kind of wait I’m waiting to see I would like to see him back before I think you really get excited about betting Boston otherwise until then you’re probably just looking at the Dallas sign I I don’t know how you could bet Boston without knowing 100% for don’t think there is a let down I don’t think that term exists in tennis I think it’s a different thing I think it’s you’re so shot from what you just went through that the emotion of it that you can’t recover from it I don’t think it’s a like let down when we talk about a let down spot in other sports we’re talking about a the human flaw of just sort of letting your guard down I don’t think that’s it typically in tennis um but I I think that ego Saka match I think that fatek go Saka match will go a long way towards helping ego forward um not that she needed the help but that was an epic match uh so she’s got busov here later in the day uh as far as our futures we have EA and we have all of the men’s players are intact Casper Roode had a bit of a scare yesterday he had to go five sets against Alejandro davidovic Vina but he got through um one of our uh parlays and then Jan Leonard stru yeah uh still rolling so far in queue number two we have him at 14 to1 to win the uh four to win the second quarter but his next match is against Alex deor and I still i’ love to I haven’t seen the price on that but uh young Gilly may have a bet on Stu that match alone he also he also made the uh he’s at least made it to the first page of the Futures uh board your boy lonard Stu yeah was he not on there before yeah you know he was a little bit further down but yeah he he cracked the top 10 now career is he’s a top 10 player that cannot crack the quarterfinal ceiling of any slam and he didn’t get to the quarterfinals here at all yeah so so uh remember remember how I told you yesterday or the day before that I I was all cut up on my uh bets to make to-do list oh yes I lied cuz there’s one I still haven’t made still haven’t bet jokovic so if you were landed on this and play the whole game hour like I did yesterday like I already have today Kelly your flight is delayed an hour and then they come back with subsequent texts bringing that time back towards your original uh departure time so first you were Del delayed an hour then oh by the way you’re only delayed 33 minutes oh by the way now you’re only delayed 18 minutes and oh now by the way you’re only delayed 4 minutes they cannot do this you are killing the passenger because the passenger has in their mind the or her mind the flight is delayed now the passenger is not processing it’s basically on time and they’re late to where they have to go because you set them up for failure it happens all the time I’ve already ordered two more drinks and now I’m missing my flight it’s a problem yeah or some people are chilling at home before they go has this happened to you Jason many time I I I don’t leave the airport I don’t leave for the airport till the last minute so uh yeah I’ve been in this situation he doesn’t sound as uh upset about I do feel like I feel like it’s a newer thing I I I also don’t know what percentage of people actually would be outraged like me and you are I think well it’s not it’s not outrage it’s you’re going to make me miss a flight though it it’s I mean it’s outraged to that extent right eventually you’re gonna miss one because yesterday I was like oh wait I’m basically on time I’m late now so you know they got to stop doing that anyway Jason uh you uh texted me something yesterday Nelly Corda Nelly Corda who has dominated the LPGA Tour this year she went to the water three times she ends up carting a 10 over par yesterday um in the uh in the LPGA tournament and so you’re getting excited cuz You’ got Ro and then rang goes out and post it an eight over what had happened a nine over now I think it was eight over and now she’s one over for the day so she’s nine over now I think oh no maybe you’re right back she back to eight you’re right maybe it was nine and then went to eight either way um wow that’s a missed opportunity huh yeah uh the crazy thing is there’s a chance that one or both of them still make the cut today the uh the wind is picking up there it’s a it’s a proper golf test I guess you could you can call it uh yeah I think there’s one two three five players under par right now by the end of the day wouldn’t be surprised if that number drops to one or two or even zero um so there’s still a chance either one of them or both get inside the cut um but yeah this point in week does not look like rose is going to capitalize on Nelly’s early Misfortune and it’s going to cost me some money and you were correct it was nine over and then she’s one under for the day uh T 109 for roseen that was one of those where when Jason sent it to me I was like I forgot to better and then by the end of the day I was like that’s why I didn’t better yeah but I’m telling you they still I’m telling you they both might still make the cut there’s a lot of golf left lot of was over and uh I was actually you know I haven’t got to watch the Yankees a ton this year but uh you know stto hits a home run and it’s just one of those moments where I just kind of thought again do you believe we just let the Yankees get Wan sto for like nothing it’s I’ll what’s going on I think about it every day because I’m on a I always talk about I’m on a text text thread with Will hill and Chris felica Chris who’s coming up on the show in a bit they are DieHard Yankees fans they talk how happy they are that that Yankees baseball is so great again because of Juan SoDo and I’m just thinking to myself I’m like you mean Washington Nationals Great Hall of Famer Juan stto like it just drives me crazy that this is how Yankees this is Yankees fans just this entitlement to these players right and and you’re right how did how did the world let them get him how yeah just let him let him have them and they’re they’re they’re looking great I I’m you know I was worried at the beginning of the season I guess my my concern over Aron judge’s toe has been slightly unfounded yeah me too me too me too yeah I’m just shaking my head if you could see me right now I’m like looks like I got that wrong but that looks like a good team I’m excited to to watch some more them on this West Coast Swing Juan sto is who he thought he was and like I said if if he stays healthy I don’t Cleveland all things being equal they’re going to give it to the the Yankee bias and to WAN sto the other thing that that occurs to me about the sto thing is and we’ve said this about so many Acquisitions of the Yankees Through The Years New York’s not for everybody right they get they their their trajectory of their career sometimes changes like the big stage is not for them it doesn’t appear to be at all a thing for wot he’s like whatever New York oh yeah no I mean like you see it across town with the Mets they get a guy like maybe Francisco Lindor and it just isn’t isn’t working out is as great as it could be and then you see Juan stto and it’s just like he’s always been destined to be a Yankee almost it’s yeah yeah some guys you just they look better in Pinstripes anything else besides the Yankees against the Giants you mentioned one other there I do um well actually it’s somewhat Yankee related I’m I’m hesitant to uh to give it out because I’m I’m not done betting it yet but I have a I have a rookie I have a rookie of the year bet on uh on a Yankees player and it’s not Louis Gill I guess you can uh draw conclusions from that as as you’d like but I’ve been heavily betting it this week yeah well it shouldn’t be Louis H because again Lis Hill is just destined for regression if you uh immerse yourself in the fan graphs page um could he pull a Blake Snell and do it for the whole year I guess anything’s possible um but none of these pictures and we’ve seen it you’re you’re oh we got to go we’ll talk about it next week I’ll talk more about give us the headline of when were we talking about hard rock with crack was that this week or last week last week I think one of the first times I ever hung out with Jordan I I I was basic I was basically asked to show him a wearing a Chicago Bear top you are a Bears fan and the Bears are going to be featured on Hard Knocks how cuz I’ve always wondered like if if Washington ever got on this I think me and my buddies will just go crazy how do you guys feel about this as Bears f are you happy are you are you mixed in your feelings we we kind of knew that was this was coming uh the reports were that you know they were one of what four teams available for Hard Knocks they’ve got all the storylines of the offseason with Caleb William the additions uh the stadium discussion that’s going on with the team in the city so it’s about time basically Bears fans want the spotlight they like the attention and look it’s going to give them a little bit more of an inside look of Caleb Williams and how he’s uh maturing as a rookie so yeah we’re we’re absolutely excited uh as Bears fans that they’re going to be featured on Hard Knocks okay all right um what did I say after the Trap Caleb Williams certainly not lacking for confidence that I will say yes that is I am very interested to see what his personality is like on a more in-depth basis all right UFC 302 in Newark New Jersey um let us start with the main event the lightweight title bout between Islam makev and Dustin porier where makev is a $6 favorite porier plus 440 on the comeback uh for those who don’t know makev number one pound-for-pound Fighter um hadn’t hadn’t defended this tit hadn’t fought at this for this title against another lightweight though uh had fought twice defended twice already against a former featherweight Champion Alexander volkanovski uh he moved up to the 155 pound belt to do so and then you have porier we all know him former inner uh interim lightweight champ this is his third attempt for the 155 pound title uh he beat benois s Denise I know you know that Kelly benois Sand Denise Yeah by second round knockout at UFC 299 how are we betting this by the way Jordan just to like watch uh makach chev’s sort of interviews leading up to this he is not the most cuddly guy in the world let me just say that no I mean he’s he’s there to fight he he’s there to fight and be a dominating Champion uh and look I I I understand why the odds are in the place makev is as you alluded to Gil number one in the pound-for-pound rankings as a fighter and he can do it all he’s not just a Grappler uh he’s also evolved as a striker and you know he is khabib nuraga met up 2.0 he’s the Protege of khabib and khabib’s going to be in his Corner uh so there’s a lot of familiarity Nur mageda defeated Dustin porier a few years ago and and yes you are right this is mv’s technically first title defense against a lightweight but Dustin porier whether he hangs it up or not after this fight is a future Hall of Famer he’s a great boxer but he’s struggled with guys that to have a grappling attack and that is what Islam makev is going to feature you know in this fight and I’d love a storybook ending for Dustin pory to finally become the lightweight champion of the world but I don’t believe that that’s going to be the case but the dollar price point at makev is that’s you can’t lay that you can’t lay 650 on makev to win the fight or you know maybe even get creative so what I’m going to look at is actually what makev typically does in fights starts a little bit slow gets the field for his opponent and then goes on the attack and the last two times the Dustin porier has lost uh in a in a title fight uh via submission it’s been in the third round so how about this to get creative makev to win in round number three it’s at plus I think 600 or 650 on most books wow so uh you know Dustin por is a tough out and I would love to see him win the championship but I just can’t see that happening so so makev to win likely inside the distance but let’s get really creative and say that he wins uh in round three however I just want to throw out two things real quick cuz this is a numbers game Dustin porier is 7 and0 in his MMA career in the month of June and we’ll get to him in the col event the last seven times that Paul Costa has been featured not in the main event but in the co-main event or on a main card the defending Champion has lost in all seven instances if you believe in the numbers Dustin pory is the new champion of the world on Saturday night is there anything meaningful to that June stat honestly Jordan not really no I mean we yeah I mean a fight a fight’s a fight a match up is a match up but look if you want if if you like to play and you want a little bit more confidence back in Dustin porier the dude is seven and0 in the month of June you’re absolutely right though makev that’s exactly who he reminds you of Norma get off not only in terms of his fighting but just his attitude as well and then they both go out and they take care of business um yeah cor Daniel Cormier was was talking to makev and he was like you every any like throwaway question he would ask instead of rolling with the punch he would like challenge back so he’ be like this poier match is really GNA like you know salt your your status he’s like why would you say that it’s just great all right co-main Shan Strickland Paulo custa with Strickland a big favorite here yeah I mean look I think that this card is extremely chalky I I understand why Shan Strickland is as big of a favorite as he is he’s got great boxing uh you know he’s got outstanding cardio he’s going to be in the face of poloc Costa from the onset this is a five round fight even though it’s a co-main event and not for a Championship uh and he’s he’s the former champion and questions have been always asked about Pol Costa where’s his head at is this guy motivated uh this will be the first time he actually fights twice in a calendar year since he made his UFC debut I think in 2017 so it’s been a while since paoc CA has been consistent but the game plan for Sean triin is to be in the face use the J and outbox and outw work Paul Costa but here’s the thing the last two times that Sean Strickland has lost the fight uh he he’s lost it against guys that are carry power and can go hard for five rounds Jared caner comes to mind similar game plan similar type of style realistically for paoc Costa so for me uh I I I could understand back in Strickland put him into a parlay but I think actually there’s some value on paoc Costa to land more of the significant damage strike throughout a five round fight and win this fight via decision at plus 850 it’s a flyer it’s not a totally recommended confidence pick but like Strickland in a kickboxing match which he’s going to do against Paul Casta has struggled against guys that are powerful punchers so I like Paul CA if he’s right his mind is right he’s Set uh and and apparently he is because he’s fighting consistently now I think he could steal an upset here this would be the one upset pick I look at at the main card Jordan is not messing around makach round three plus 650 cost of via decision plus 850 all right you got two more plays on the main card we got uh 90 seconds what do you got here yeah I I I like the match up on the main card opener Randy Brown against Alysia dos Santos I think Randy Brown is going to utilize his athleticism his reach uh and just outpoint outwork dos Santos just avoid the phone booth fight he’s a170 uh favorite on the money line so I like him and Kevin Howen returning to middleweight uh against m o j o j has struggled at times with some takedowns uh J’s going to have to work the body and look for a knockout Holland’s Got a granite chin and as long as he’s just not having conversation with his opponent because for some reason Kevin Holland likes to talk to his opponent and like really get into dialogue concentrate on what you’re doing Kevin Holland get the takedown and O J has been submitted in two of his three current losses in his UFC career Holland’s got some good Dar chokes some good RAR naked chokes so I like Holland via mission to get some plus money on Kevin howand to win the fight all right um did we go through all four did we get them all in yes I think so we did three dogs three dogs in a favorite that’s another like don’t these guys realize we’re betting on them stop talking and fight come on just before you before before Kelly even got to that I was going to say Kelly you love
