solid round get yourself started title defense just how’ it go today yeah it was was a good round pretty happy with that 300 par um little Breezy out there and even though the greens are a little bit softer um still really hard out there um hit a lot of really nice shots but hit some bad ones too but I was able to recover and uh do some good damage control mentioned the form you had at PJ felt like came back to you when you were practicing leading up to this tournament but is it still nice to see it once you’re back in competition yeah for sure um you uh I feel like the game has been pretty nice in practice it’s still not quite exactly um how I want it to be yet but it’s still you know it’s good enough to compete and I feel like I’m playing some good golf so uh just got to keep at it and hopefully it just keeps getting better and better can you quantify the difficulty compared to maybe some other times you’ve played here it seemed like the potential for big numbers and you stayed away from them yeah um number number 12 didn’t look so good um early on I mean I’m like 12T away from the hole and that easily could have been a double bogey so um that’s just how this golf course is you can you can uh just miss it in some bad spots and you’re going to really get punished but today I was able to um for the most part miss it on the right Sid there was a couple spots where were less than ideal but uh managed to get out of there um pretty well but yeah it’s just it’s just really hard with that thick rough really fast greens I mean you can you can be just off the green and make doubles and triples around here if you’re uh if you’re not careful so um yeah you don’t really um relax too much out there it’s uh it’s a stressful place to play next week at Pinehurst is going to look a lot different of course setup wise to what you have here but similar talk of you know par is a good score it’s going to be difficult is it even though two different styles are set up is it a nice tuneup at least for the mindset and how you approach a golf course this week and next yeah I think so it’s hard golf course I think already getting in the mindset of you know everyone’s going to make bogus it’s just trying to um get out of the the high numbers and be patient don’t get too aggressive trying to go for every single pen because you’re going to get punished real quick so I think that’s a this is even though this is probably a completely different looking Golf Course than next week it’s still a lot of the same principles still apply you get um any more excited when you start looking at the leader board and seeing who’s on the board people that maybe you’re not as familiar with versus Scotty and Xander and stuff like that if I get more excited no I don’t I mean I’m just focused on what I’m doing and like um obviously it’s just a first round but uh if you’re looking at the leaderboard now it’s obviously a lot of big names that are playing well which is not surprising around this place it’s it’s hard but no I’m just trying to focus on myself do you think this is what they were intending to do is when they did these type of events to try to get not only the best players in the field field but also to get them up towards the leader up top of the leader board uh sure I I think whenever you have a good golf course that’s set up well I think usually the best players will rise up to the top but that doesn’t mean that okay just because you’re a big name whatever that doesn’t mean that you’re going to play well and this this course doesn’t care who you are you you still got to hit the shots and and play well how much stock do you put in being top the leader board or near on a Thursday yeah I think it’s it’s big I think um just shooting under par around this place you’re never that far out and uh just looking back at kind of what I did last year I think at some point dur in the third round maybe I was seven shots back so a lot of things can happen um you know with the back nine there the leaders can easily fall back a little bit and if you’re playing really well you can shoot up from behind and and make up a lot of ground but obviously you want to be up up on top of the leaderboard from from the start is it different when it’s a censed field is it do you approach it in any different way or not not really um no I can’t I mean they’re obviously less players but um no I mean you still got to go out there and just play your best okay thanks what’s here all right
