hello and welcome to the smackdown review I’m Adam wilborne from wat culture joined by dly Boys Michael alet from what culture to review everything that happened on this week’s episode of Friday Night complete the B quiz of course on Wrestle culture as I said though joined by Michael hanlet to review Friday Night [Music] Smackdown ah everything’s right in the world what did you think of this show I am a dog I only remember the last thing I’ve seen right and I watched that closing segment genuinely a bit like Edge when he used to come out and be like give it to me everything was I mean it was you know looking back it was obvious what was going to happen but until it happens you’re like want give it to me and they yay yay and I’m like I don’t wrong love Cody rhods obviously and I’m like get him AJ I thought it was a brilliant end to the show and in the words of I always forget I’m really bad with like attributing quotes to people but some Sage once said greatness Echoes greatness so right yeah I can’t remember who that was but I I couldn’t remember who it was who said it on the news this morning as well or tweeted it no so I don’t know who that was oh yeah I don’t know if the thing that I definitely made and didn’t steals directly from Mark Henry’s Twitter account I love that because all the images side by side perfectly matched the point that you were illustrating really good and the watermark from whoever actually made it was on there as well so you basically if who made this if you’re stealing from the person that stole it you’re you’re more of a Robin Hood Type the rather I’m I’m just giving it to the people right I don’t know if uh if it’s because uh we’re in election Season O in the UK because there’s not too many things that myself and Tony Blair agree on other than perhaps our side of the aisle politically however I was staring at a blue brand like Tony Blair in 1997 going weak weak weak because I don’t know what is going on on Friday well I do right because I’ve got the same answer every week and I apologize for rega this take Cody rhod’s on the wrong show righte it impacts it impacts raw and it impacts Smackdown um because he’s so much bigger than just about everything taking place on this brand that I think it is kind of minimizing some of the stuff which is less like don’t get me wrong that’s not Cody’s fault that’s the that’s the job of Triple H to elevate more of the wresters on this show and I know there’s some stuff we’re going to praise on this yeah but I much prefer being in the era where the bar is raised and where we can speak about WWE as we did and do speak about aw is like how much do they actually enjoy this like we can’t just look for the things we enjoy and then lean on those because everything else is terrible I don’t want to talk about WWE like that ever again and on Raw at the moment I am whilst I’m not that convinced that Damen priest is the guy to lead the show we’ve talked about this ad nauseum there are so many people that can and will and he’s kind of being elevated by the quality of his opponents and the line multiple different overlapping feuds I’m just not seeing it or feeling it on Smackdown I am trying as hard as I can with this bloodline thing and I feel like I’ve in you remember when like s blessing was like guys now it might be safe to say hew’s back and then it kind of fell off for a few weeks yeah I am starting to feel like that with the bloodline I feel like the week I went about for it a little bit uh was just before backlash and then they had this killer match yeah and I sort of felt a bit Vindicated by it and then I think the immediate aftermath was uh tamat Tonga doing the wet Bandits noise and solo sakoa dressing like Santa Claus Ted Debo’s heel Santa Claus I just Paul Heyman is trying but I’m not convinced how well this whole thing is working M event was great opening segment was great I don’t think this Brand’s in particularly good health sorry sorry guys I enjoyed the show not all films can be five stars exactly um I kind of got everything I wanted from this show Queen n was was everything I hoped for and more yeah and they kept it quite tight so they didn’t sort of you know it’s got a long way to go this um this well few and obviously this gimmick yeah uh I love the main event and there was some other stuff that I was like well I didn’t see that one coming and that really got me into it as well and Andrade social media aside it was nice to see him stepping back into the ring yeah was it yeah I love that spin I think that spinning back elbow is one of my favorite moves in wrestling I don’t know why he doesn’t use it as a finish I like that he gets to embarrass Chris Jericho with it once a week don’t get me wrong but yeah we’ll get into it because the show opens oh God this is really professional me the show opens and I actually can’t remember the name of the person who stood in the ring it’s the smackdown general manager but his name completely escapes me right man stay tuned um anyway whoever it is says there’s no better feeling than when one of your top draft picks comes through in the clutch and he welcomes Nia Jax I’ll give her that name for now because technically hasn’t got the crown crown on yet he welcomes Nia Jax to the crown on she’s m of the um he uh he says the floor’s yours and then Queen na puts the crown on again uh takes the microphone uh crowd all sh you suck and she says everyone needs to get their fact straight and it’s a fact I am Queen of the Ring oh my God uh and as Queen she gets a title shot at SummerSlam and she demands Bailey come down to the ring is that the Royal box ah oh yeah very nice I thought you going to say can we get a a a crown sticker to pop on that picture which is a really good idea can we get a crown stick to that picture cuz that’s a really good idea so he she demands Bailey comes down to the ring and I thought it’s happening but as Bailey makes her entrance she is jumped by Piper nen and Chelsea Green uh and they beat her down to the ring um nja just sorry could na just watches on as they beat the crap out of her and Nan hits a splash on her and Chelsea takes the mic and says you don’t have to worry about facing Bay Because by the time SummerSlam comes around your new WWE women’s champion will be Piper nen and J has a nice retort she say I don’t give a damn who the champion is because I’m GNA annihilate whoever it is and Jax leaves I Nia was great I think we knew um that she’d be really uh ideal for the differing King and Queens coming out this so you get one that gets to take this very seriously it’s all about the title shot it’s all about competition the other that actually just quite likes having a crown and maybe a caping a scepter and I think when it was Gunther and Nia you knew which where this was going to split so I’ve got no problems with this n Jack’s character whatsoever um I don’t have a problem with Pip and Ian being made number one Contender because I get the principal thinking behind it I think there’s issues there I think you actually this is not Drew and Damien priest this is not going to be situational I think you’re actually asking people in the Hy Ro to make a choice that was maybe the like for all it’s the right time it’s sort of the wrong one too yeah Bailey is beloved in the UK and I’m imagine people are super excited to see her sing for her cheer for her all that sort of stuff and yet it’s Piper nen she’s getting this match because it’s in Scotland so I get it but at the same time I I have a theory uh yes obviously people will still cheer for piping but it’s Bailey she she’s not going to get you know booed out of the building as a result of not being Scottish I think Chelsea turns on Piper when she loses the match and then n turns face that could work yeah I think it’s just because they’ve kind of done everything haven’t they they’ve challenged for pretty much all the bloody titles together splitting up two comedy teams on Smackdown at the same time who’s the other comedy team just just the World Tag Team Champions they’re not comedy mate there’s nothing funny about that mean I agree with that like I just I the Bailey run still isn’t really clicking out I they should be doing more that I agree with you on that one I remain frustrated with Triple H’s booking of mostly of both women’s divisions it’s he takes he seems to take so few of the performers seriously enough and it’s all very like get to the point like we there’s a match coming it’s all a bit root at he could do much better he really could yeah I uh I suppose in answer to your your issues from the start of this pod I was a little bit concerned because I was like is that it for n just going to put the crown on and say see you later guys um but as with everything I should just trust Triple H trust Papa H and let it play out as this show was a sort of microcosm of anyway uh there Smackdown GM again sorry forgot what his name is um he’s walking backstage AJ’s waiting for him and he’s office uh and obviously he wants some time to uh address his future and uh Smackdown GM says if you want something to tell me tell me right now and AJ says it’s going to be hard enough to do it once so can I just do in the ring later on tonight and they shake hands and it’s again a brilliant overarching story of this is where we’re heading and it’s all all signs point to retirement indeed um clever this fantastic admin from the GM because as we noted on the preview there was no obvious Main Event M very very clever to just simply not book one because otherwise where would he have found the space for AJ Styles 4D chess what would have been the main event actually the world of 2D Checkers actually that doesn’t count CU that was a match made on the flight um that was a match was the bloodline Street probably was made on the fly yeah whole thing was anything uh andr Apollo Cruz yeah who didn’t have that to preview okay we had to make up a whole episode basically cuz all we had was that Nia’s got a crown that was it that was um and tick so you often ask okay AJ Styles lost a backlash what’s he doing what’s Naomi doing well Naomi immediately followed AJ Styles here going to see Bailey while she’s being checked on by a trainer and offered to tag with her tonight against the dastardly bastards who attacked her yeah uh it’s good at least that the baby faces are able to align with one another and Bailey were kind of through other than Bianca a little bit were through Bailey’s need for like Redemption all that that’s in that respect the baby face character is where it needs to be and then we got um Austin Theory versus Tomaso champer um back and forth early on obviously we’re on the road presumably to a tag title shot for DIY champer is in control Grayson Waller gets a bit involved and that allows Theory to take over and basically hit a Brain Buster on champer onto his knee chamber misses a dive Theory comes back with a draping neck breaker on Champa to the floor and that takes us to a break when we come back Champa fires up hits a leaping close line and a reverse DDT for two sets up for the fairy tale ending there know throw is a nice counter into a suplex for a good near fall tries for at eight hand down um but chamber stops him they go back and forth with chops and big boots chamber hits a running knee both men are down commentary are talking about Austin Theory and all of a sudden Grayson waler spins around and goes after Wade Barrett saying uh I think you’ll fine Austin the is only relevant because the old Grayson wall rub Austin the is like what you talking about this distracts him uh champer grabs a roll up and pins one half of the Tag Team Champions problems for a Dan Ander yeah you should probably belt DIY this was one of them things where something that never happens in wrestling ever happened twice somebody ringside heard the commentator and then the person in the ring heard the person at ringside it required both of those contrivances to get this visual of descent between Austin Theory and Grayson Waller there was also some good social media activity following this did you spot this I didn’t see this Johnny Gargano said something wrong lines of or when like he may have been annoying but when we’re in the way I never treat him like this basically as in relation to how uh uh Grayson Waller was kind of just negging Austin Theory a little bit and then Grayson Waller immediately replied with a bunch of pictures where like you absolutely never cared for him he was a clown until he got with me and uh like Austin the has not commented himself on any of this so he’s just deciding how much of a loser I was basically ranking I know he was a 10 loser with you he’s only a nine loser with me so I do quite like all of that I don’t have a great deal of affection for a to down under so I’m not bothered if they split uh I tell me why this is good that’s like is it like the split isn’t that interesting I would put the belts on DIY because you’re losing some of the momentum you built up with M on Raw that’s probably smart get them as Champions and just see how that goes going into Cleveland as Champions Run and winning the titles presumably that’s a good point yeah that’ be a nice moment but hang on no like DIY are from uh Greenwich Connecticut and San Antonio Texas sorry yes so I don’t know what Cleveland’s got to do with it yeah that’d be nice I suppose um can you really get this to SummerSlam like dissension in the ranks I I think they dropped the titles before then and then you’ve because you got money in the bank as well I always forget the I always go Clash the castle then basically SummerSlam but it’s not that is it there one in the rank in the middle so if not Scotland is it Canada monreal yeah Toronto Toronto I thought it would be quite a nice Twist on this gray mall is a psychopath and Ladder Match as we’ve seen fir hand but he did it again at WrestleMania uh if it’s between like the smackdown GM I can’t remember his name offers a qualifying spot to one of awn down under and then Grace MOA says well I love that thanks very much because look at what a mess you made with the briefcase last time and creates that further tension between the two and then Grace M does something insane or like there’s a miscommunication and Theory ends up tipping a ladder that’s got Waller on it and he goes through three ladders I think you’ve just answered your own question as to why this is good mate broke my neck broke my back s saw a video of somebody in like hospital with serious neck and back issues but they’ had that soundtrack to over the weekend that for you tab on X has gone Rogue as what’s the uh what’s the weird one we sort of stumbled across it’s like in AI version truck or something it TR which one trunk isn’t it trunk on on Twitter there’s like a third one he like hello I’m AI Twitter hello I’m Gro that’s it what I’m grock what do you do grock well I make you do even worse with this AI technology what’s your fa what do you prefer grock or gron dancing his way down to the ring oh God so grock Get Hype yeah Gro will one day be responsible for us losing our jobs gron briefly made me wish I didn’t have mine so it’s it’s neck and neck we watch that sometimes don’t to realize everything’s all right now like gr could be a lot worse gron entering the empty performance center while like they have to cut to Michael Co the ring gun cuz like any more anyone looking at gron is just going to be even iller than they are even if they’ve caught Co yeah I didn’t think I have it now but I’ve got real problems watching this oh anyway um we go backstage to the smackdown GM’s office um can’t remember his name but he’s talking to Blair Davenport and Naomi just barges in and says I want a tag match and she even BL to be fair to BL down I thought you she’s got a point here she was like I sorry I thought I was having a chat there Naomi say sure um she says you’ll eventually know who I am um walks off so they’re doing stuff with Naomi they are they are it’s I feel like it’s broadly neck and neck it’s Naomi keeping itself in like in contention at least with AJ Styles it’s just a m like he’s Triple H he’s a bit of a sexist like not news at 11 but uh at the moment on Raw like it was puss and Pierce with Chelsea Green she’s gone off Smackdown oh need new Chelsea Green K James it is anything I can do for you boss not this week out of the way you need a drink yeah like it’s sort of happening with um these backstage segments with Blair Davenport now I don’t know not great we’ll see where that goes uh but all the resolution of this all the chat sorry I misspoke there leads to the tag map being made official by the SM GM I forgot what his name is um and then l a night come on Kayla get it together what was this what the hell was this he walks into the SM GM’s office and says AJ st’s going to retire and SM says don’t know says I’m looking for Logan Paul uh and of course he’s not there we go to a break come back see highlights of Cody versus Logan in Saudi Arabia oh my God not the yeah uh the match itself of course and um then we see La a knight come on Kayla walking out of the office and yeah Kayla approaches La Knight and says uh what are you talking about in there and he says I bet you want to know what I was talking about in there right and then she says nothing sh really easy is she all right has she been cpted or something I don’t maybe she visited ww.com read something it’s one word say yeah and then he can say yeah and then the crow yeah anyway doesn’t matter he say the line that you f is have a second bite to this yeah well she’s clearly not picking up on this I’ll do another one that’s blly OB yes nope still not got it okay uh anyway La KN says there isn’t much to say uh Logan Logan pul not here this week um and as a result of that yeah he’s uh he’ll talk to you next week wrong uh fir back basically says he wants a shot of the US title or he wants the US title and then Carmelo Hayes wanders in and says I’m going to try and get remember this get the right way around yeah why would La want to face you when a first round draft pick is standing right here and Knight says if I face myself I’d be looking in the mirror [ __ ] uh you’re talking about Logan Paul get your names right and uh he say never mind all that uh If Logan wants to talk he’ll work you but if he wants to walk then he’ll fight me because I am him I had a horrible flashback to uh the let’s say the olden days of WWE where this one mistake would have meant that melow for the next six would be the guy who doesn’t know people’s names oh yeah that’s that’s a great take of what this would have once become for him look we are not live in front of millions of people um millions of listeners maybe not yet uh not live in front of millions of people we have multiple opportunities just to correct ourselves so it’s I always feel a bit bad when we go twf footed on a flub or something get somebody’s name wrong it’s absolutely fine but what really stuck out here was that he did it everybody felt it and on any other week with any any other wrestler maybe the person he was sparring with would have just let it slip everybody gets the gist on we move ellite clearly pissed off that this promo’s already gone wrong with Kayla just like right well she wasn’t giving anything and you just had me a freebie so I’m going to absolutely eat your lunch and it was just so excruciating it’s like and then in one sense you’re like well this is the whole point now like you know new WWE people are allowed to like Veer from it’s not this we don’t imagine this to be this tightly scripted thing anymore so should feel organic and it should feel real but it was awkward it was it had already been awkward and you all like just wanted to shake off this promo and then Kam he does that this week against that guy and it’s just and then he’s got to end it with saying and that’s why I’m him what because you stink yeah it was it was really awkward I I like Carmelo his more on Smackdown already than I did in probably like the last six months of his run on NXT I think they’ve really got something with this version of his character not a good week not a good week uh next up it was a match uh Andrade great to see him back in a ring and you know who’s facing between one and 19 please mate I’ll have to go 11 I think okay Apollo crew of course and if you understand that reference go back about a year in the NXT podcast and the rest and then when you get there listen to the whole thing and then listen to another one to try and understand how we got there yes because this is a couple of like like F number 11 there it’s a couple layers deep yeah and F world aren’t paying us for this yet we’re just we’re just a fan of the app uh he got he got pink eye in NXT uh because he could see into the future so he gave him a farting gimmick not like Itali obviously wouldn’t wanted to tread on those legendary twos how you’ve made it sound like really ridiculous I think us making fart jokes about Apollo crew was more logical than nxt’s booking we said right we said he’s pink eye because in the middle of the night Grayson Wallace snuck into his hot and farted on his pillow and then he’s rolled around on his pillow in the night and he’s like oh God I got pink eye off the farts a bit of a stretch not as much of a stretch as Apollo crew developing the ability to see the future granted yeah I don’t think yeah but imagine and then not even see it and use it I think that’s I think that’s my big concern HL whenever I you know travel U which we’re lucky enough to do quite a lot on this job I think my big concern is like okay where are we staying is it an Airbnb is it a hotel and you know cleanliness is a big thing for me and I I I often wonder has someone fart on this pillow just before I lay my head down to rest but there’s only one place I suppose you can guarantee that that won’t have happened and you get the best experience where would you think that would be probably the beautiful oo Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Nevada leave a five star review we’re trying um by way five star reviews thank you for those by the way it counters check this a one star review and somebody’s messing around I don’t like people going on those things and trolling farting around you’re going to troll leave a five a one star review from a will Washington well well well ask questions well well will probably not that will washing or he or he just took his family of EGS had a bad time he entitled to do it but I say if you’re going to troll leave him five yeah by the way just to clarify as well we’re still huge fans of Apollo Cruz that was just some stupid gimmick well so was having not say so was having the ability to see into the future there a lot of stupid gimmicks yeah we’re not saying any stinks guys come on we using a fart up because we honestly enjoy his we yes yeah that’s it can have another fart yeah yeah yeah uh Nicholas gives a number between one and nine team mate seven oh hang on I’ve just got I should pay for this out i’ got to get through the ads there we go [Music] seven like the F bidden door opening the fbid it’s the uh Christmas par on there is it upad oh yeah what we on now I think it needs updated we currently have this [Music] Love Is in the Air it’s the St Valentine’s Day ASA Shad through the ass uh um fun back and forth early on between Andrade in Apollo andr hits a belly Tob back suplex goes up top But Here Comes I never know if we’re calling him angel or angel now I’m go Angel they change it um put mic by your ass and tell me I should uh is it poo poo oh I’m seeing Kylie soon I I cannot wait very jealous of that she was H singing with aille peek yeah uh they they were they were having a great time in Las Vegas I don’t need to tell you what hotel probably be uh by the way we did see footage earlier on of Angel offering andr spot in legard do fantasma and him saying no um then just fight each other yeah it’s trash this man but boring trash this distraction of angel coming out allows uh Cruz to kick him off the top and it’s a great moon salt to take us to a commercial break we come back Andrade hits a high cross body they’re both down uh they go back and forth when they get to their feet Andrade hits a flying forearm double knees in the corner for a two count Cruz comes back with a German suplex and does that great spot where he just picks someone in the air and then drops him he h standing moon salt for a two count Angel jumps up on the apron Cruz runs at him um and this whole distraction allows andr to hit that amazing spinning back elbow he hits him with these double underhook swing DDT one 123 a win for Andrade postmatch outome Santos Escobar applauding Andrade or at least looking pleased with this performance and andr just walks clean past him and Angel’s like I’ll deal with this while Santos looks a bit angry oh man right the work was good you’re right to I like it um this was a bit of a collector’s item I would say in 2024 WWE because it was playing to a mostly dead crowd who were not you know they have no reason to engage in Apollo cre for ages and I don’t think they are I’d like to think anyway this is a bit more the case we I don’t want to just keep buying Triple H putting people together broadly through ethnicity yeah or just like thinking in his mind oh like I associate you with you so you two just go together we’re going to get it coming up soon with the Wyatt lot and the spe characters like it’s already with various other Stables that again whether it be like black wrestlers Or Hispanic wrestlers or whatever it’s just it needs calling out a bit more like I did see the Andrade stuff online and he doesn’t seem to like it any more than anybody else and it’s not just like lazy and reductive but it’s not that compelling as a storytelling Dev either you could see here from the reaction so just to like Andrade takes the spot of uh dragon Le for wrestle to work as a sort of a a ringer for the lwo uh was right there but yeah well indeed and look that was to again I don’t mind the idea of like telling stories I don’t want to watch Caro versus Rey Mysterio anymore but like that’s that was all for that that’s fine Dominic Mysterio tried and failed to recruit him for the Judgment days one heel and andrad said no I’m like I’m a friend of the LW and that’s fine they’ve gone off to Raw now so legardo like gone off the LW yeah like we’ll take it who’s who’s good in this like they’ll take like they’ll be sloppy seconds but then so will Andrade I just I don’t like it and I I think it’s like reeks of laziness I don’t think the matches are that great I don’t think Andrade runs working I think they keeping him busy like I could easily see Andrade either being in money in the bank or being a title Challenger for Cody at money in the bank because I think they could have a fun match they’ve obviously got history from aw naturally yeah um was on his back and uh yeah it’s one of those where they’ve clearly gone we need to kind of C them Bry we need to reintroduce him on tell they had all vignettes and stuff and they did all the draft stuff we need to keep him busy keep doing legardo stuff for a bit yeah I I think that’s exactly the thought process I just think it’s a bit limp uh right so use rock hard solo seoa um he talking to the bloodline 2 backstage Paul hyon walks in says I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how I could better serve you my tribal chief he says look the violence before under Roman Reigns of course was to kind of preserve things the way that they are violence was considered very carefully before they did it now it’s just random violence he says no strategy behind it they need to put a strategy in place so that when Roman comes back they’ve got Cody rhods in check and so says we’ve already got him in check he doesn’t even know it and uh hymon just asks who’s we in all this Kevin ‘s music hits and solos like you put deal with that and hymon heads out good and bad yeah yeah I think the fact they now needing to say the quiet part loud is a problem because the violence should have been speaking for itself a little bit more I think we started well with this yeah um what was it um uh mft was it that just been dropped yeah I think so like but the idea was they’re so flipping Tammer they’re so vicious they’re so violent this is a new way now for the bloodline and evidently over the last couple of weeks that’s not been as effective enough story told physically that they’re just outright saying it so not great however what is still effective is the belief amongst the fans that this is not not Roman’s bloodline you hear the Roman chance every week yes solo SEO is uh in this position he he’s stood on the shoulders of giants basically doesn’t deserve this himself and the point when he says oh we’ve got him in check you are allowed to infer that what he’s on about is that night after raw after WrestleMania with The Rock and Cody because that’s who’s calling the shots that’s who’s telling that’s who’s telling solo and this new bloodline to just inact violence however you wish it’s the rock yeah man went off the rails after WrestleMania went wrong you saw that incredible bit with him and Cody and in Solo’s mind in The Rock’s mind Cody is in check I handed that thing back to him don’t break my heart again whatever we’re all like froing at the gash for the day where them two can work together again yes CL is in check yes he is but not via Roman and thus not via hman and I like that moving in the background but again we’ll get to this Heyman overselling it to such an extent the ring feels pointed I don’t think they were I don’t think initially they were feeling the need to lean as heavy on the dialogue and on the sort of just how Vose heon was about talking about how dangerous it is it doesn’t feel Smackdown feel under sieged To You by The Bloodline feels like don’t cross him I I don’t disagree I just I don’t think they need to say it as much as they did like I think we’re going to disagree on a bit of a Paul hman line here but in a fun way he’s talking he’s just bringing in any criminal right he’s on about Jacob Fatu and when that man arrives like all hell better break loose because this is how much they’re build I like I like the fact yeah they’ve they’ve gone right this this really random acts of severe violence and it’s gonna get worse and now it’s Jak yeah I like your alternative for potentially bringing in criminals family business I will say it’s not my idea necessar well I completely support it but Eric Vasquez great first name thank you to uh to him for suggesting this and pointing this in my ring uh he says he served a special Council and wise man to Roman Reigns in Roman’s absence though he serves for Solo in the bloodline and he’s out there in that capacity tonight to talk with Owens man to man professional to professional father to father has a mutual interest here and he sort of checks he’s not going to get his ass handed to him before stepping between the ropes and just get on with it uh whil all this is going on by the way huge we want Roman chance of course uh it’s cool that I really like that all the time hymon acknowledges it as well saying there isn’t a person in this Arena who wants Roman there more than me basically um and he wants that because Roman despite everything he’s done has respect for Owens um and everything they did was based in that respect solo has none of that he’s been recruiting criminals thugs as you mentioned um and yes they could have done that under Roman and Paul Heyman to a certain extent they didn’t do that because they weren’t good representatives of the bloodline I like the fact that Jimmy Uso passes that test yeah this yeah but yeah I get it um solo is bringing bloodthirsty thugs um they’re not looking for a reason to hurt Owen they’re just kind of looking for an excuse uh and he says you know basically say his name and he appears please please do it for clash at the castle please I believe in Joe Hendry of course like keeping a sneeze in there yeah um he says yeah if you keep calling out sako’s name the guy’s going to do something really bad about it back off the bloodline I’s like I’m not buying any of this bollocks um nothing nothing in our last few years of interactions has built any kind of trust which is kind of fair enough with everything that’s happened um this is all Hayman he jumped from Brock to Roman and now Roman’s gone and lost the belt he’s moved on to solo um but he he can’t he doesn’t believe any of this but he can’t figure out what haymon’s doing is this all in fear or or what he say he’s been fighting the bloodline for four years they’ve done everything to him chair shots tossed from ridiculous high places innumerable Super Kicks got over by a golf cart oh my God good H but that was Roman in the Usos man he respected um now it’s solo and a couple of guys no one wants here yeah um he’s not going to stop fighting them they don’t belong in his world and as far far as hyon’s help goes he doesn’t want it or need it and hay say hymon says I’m not trying to help you Kevin I’m trying to save you uh and he says look you know we’ve had a lot of history together but kids have met and what have you uh I know I’ll never be able to redeem myself in your eyes but you know I’m trying to talk sense to you here and you all sat there saying oh let’s not listen to the Hall of Famer wise man and he he starts working himself up here no one bloody listens to me why won’t anybody listen to me and as he does that he accidentally flings his arms out and hits Kevin Owens and there the U effed up chance and it like Kevin hens was about to lay his hands on Paul hymon but before he can do that out comes sakoa Tama Tonga and tongala um but before they can use the numbers game as they often do the street brais appear and back up Kevin Owens there’s a big brawl solo and Owens brawl through the crowd Dawkins hits a splash on uh Lowa and Tonga and that takes us to a break and when we come back the match is taking place I’ll never not pop for the street profits Kevin Owens longlasting friendship yes it has survived corporate structural changes within WWE it has survived pandemics it’s a really lovely thing that like I have to feel that they’ve all had a hand in maintaining it’s very wholesome I thought Kevin Owens was good here yeah and they are again it’s a tight row packed at the moment they are simultaneously having Paul Heyman tremble in fear at the supposed violence that these men will enact and there was absolutely none forthcoming in the next match in my opinion whilst Kevin Owens doesn’t really respect them but then why should he It’s Tricky like the I guess yes Kevin Owens is a smart baby face is saying well show up tell if I see the threat from these guys maybe then I’ll respect it but until I do I mean he was blooded up by them about a month or so ago but like he is I think in one sense speaking for the audience who are not sure how to take these lot whereas Paul heon is already living a life under the thumb and in it’s it’s a strange I it wasn’t a bad week for the group I just don’t think it’s been a particularly good one like I do like um Owen here little bit of a a little bit of a tell uh I like that physically he Illustrated his past did you clock the trainers I’ll be logging that in my red shoe Diaries because I like it when uh where uh like whenever there sort of bloodline law and who’s on whose side you can often tell based on the color of the trainers and that’s largely something that solos seo’s version other than the defensive jackets it’s kind of like that’s gone to one side be the US and owens’s a little bit of solidarity with the the version of the bloodline he at least respect while they were kicking his ass I quite like that yeah I’m I’m sort of conflicted because I really I’ve always loved the bloodline story and I’m still heavily invested in it I’m very excited to see where it goes so maybe I’m giving it more leeway than I would other things but there’s a bit of me that’s like well you you can’t have him just batter everyone every single week no they’ve they’ve come in they’ve won the big matches they’ve done the big beatdowns but you need more and more especially if you’re about to debut someone who’s like oh he’s the real game changer I like the idea that Kevin Owens gets or Randy Orton or Street profet whoever it is gets into their head if the playing field was level we beat these guys yeah which is different necessarily to I know there was always cheating with with uh the original bloodline but like it was like if the playing Field’s level we maybe stand a chance not we beat them uh or we’re certainly in the early stages of of Roman and Uso’s domination um so I can sort of sympathize with them giving up what they did here because then you need to open open the door for them to be like you know what without that you know Miss tag or whatever we’d have beaten you let’s have the big match at Clash at the castle whether it be a multi man or a spped up thing or whatever it may be and it’s like oh we’ve finally managed to cut off the shenanigans looks like we’ve got it done oh God here’s Jacob Fatu yeah maybe because I get that they were saying like we need solo to and and Tamar and Etc to to sort of establish themselves but yeah you also want to give a bit leis though when Jacob Fatu in the Realms of WWE you can’t just you know bloody people up left FR Center every single week when he does come in it’s it feels like a level change this is it I think they’re they’re struggling to tell you just how seriously to take them and then they’re trying to do both as a result I think I’ll use the shield as an example like the backlash match wasn’t quite as good as the amazing Team Hell known Ryback six-man but it close like that that match that TLC like an alltime introduction to an act this was pretty close the bloodline one at backlash in ter especially for tamat Tonga fantastic night for him I wonder if you need a couple more like that I wonder if like the street profits on TV just like I love the street profets but they’re just not there at the moment and we we said about like the the street profits Bobby Lashley six-man was presumably on the cars and Lashley seems to this feels legit and he’s maybe out and that’s derailed things a little bit maybe he need to get pretty quickly to this PL 6man Owens and Street profits versus or Owens and Orton plus one versus and they just get the wins and it’s violent and it’s like I don’t know like they just say look they’ll only wrestle add a bit of flavor to their matches they’ll only wrestle if every match is fought under um tribal combat rules and that allows you cheat the stipulation each time so you can always use smoking mirrors because I think the gorillas are Destiny need that anyway to keep the matches hot and to keep the danger in the air and yeah like just you it’s it’s again it’s a tight rope to walk until Jacob Fatu arrives because I think it’s harder necessarily to act out what you’re saying you’re doing but we’ll see this match afterwards wasn’t it for me yeah it was gorillas of Destiny Tona Tonga lower versus the street profits uh We join in progress after they brawled obviously going into the break profits are in control uh Tonga I’m just going to call him Tama because that makes things a bit easier tamama makes a comeback hit some sliding clothes lines on Ford um there a springboard elbow on Ford for a two count but Ford gets the hot tag to Dawkins and Dawkins comes in I love Angelo Dawkins when he’s running wild splashers clo Lin URI for a two count uh lower tags in stiff old clo line Sato suplex throws dorkin to the outside sort toys with him out there sends him into the uh sends him into the commentary table there’s a leaping clo onine as well from Tama to take us to a break uh when we come back Dawkin is in trouble Haymon looks concerned his boys are just killing people um but Tama went for an elbow Dawkins moved hot tag to 40 suplex is tamat Tonga takes out tongala and tamat Tonga with some strikes and suplexes they set up for their doomsday Blockbuster um hit it Tama makes the save and in amongst all this there’s a blind tag to tamat Tonga Ford’s frog Splash off the top means nothing because tongal is not the legal person uh and Ford basically walks into the jumping W spiral to give the gorillas of Destiny their win had to go that way I didn’t think a lot of the match the street profits were the more engaging of the two teams which was yeah it’s Street profits it’s going to happen in loads of Street profits matches but yeah this was this is the example of how not to do it for me as opposed to what I think you can have like healthy debates about the promos about hymon in general in all of this this match is the worst way around you put them in a straight up tag match and then you like it’s going to happen with the whes in a couple weeks I’m just going to get in front of this now right you can do all this spooky stuff yeah you can do all this the bloodline of criminals whatever much to my suarin a lot of the time the Bell has to ring and there’s going to be a point in a couple of weeks where like you know B Dallas has been saying and I don’t think these are too far apart because you’re asking fans to believe something about these characters at the moment you’re asking the bloodline you’re asking to believe the bloodline are the most dangerous men that have ever hit Smackdown and you’re asking you know fans to be scared of Dex Lis and you know B Al and all lot and then like I don’t know like Dex lumus is going to grab a headlock and then be backed into the corner and make a Tagg but it’s like is that really what they would do you know is that honestly and again to use the shield as an example there was this like desperation around Hang on we’re not two11 get it two11 again SES in bother Dean Ambrose is right there and it’s always two and one it’s like separated if we just get them separated and that was this USP that nobody else in W had it’s why like a bunch of baby faces couldn’t get their asses together to stop them strength in numbers yeah yeah bloodline you USP has to be danger that has you frightened not a TV match runtime that has you terrified like it’s you got to be sharper with what you’re presenting you out of here so I could hand you the keys and Cody thanks him and notes how uh they only shared one text message between each other following backlash checking if AJ was all right and AJ fired back I’m all good little bro and Cody on behalf of the entire locker room says thank you very much thank you very much and thank you very much uh he raises his hand and uh yeah gets the gets them all cheering posing for the for the crowd one arm in the other Y and that side way and that side way I’m like come on and then AJ Styles takes his head off with a clothes line gets on top of him beats him up uh Stomps on him Chucks him out of the ring sends him into the steps uh uh grabs him the officials try to run down to break all this up but the good brothers are there to stop them loved that so much and AJ Styles sets up and I thought for a split second you might actually kill him with a starles glass on a on a steps that you’re have to step backwards yeah you’d have to oh God thankfully well not thankfully for Cody he hits a Styles Clash off the ring steps to the floor and he stares at the crowd uh drinking in their reaction um while commentary basically says does he have no conscience does he have no heart did you have no soul you’re son of a [ __ ] I thought this was I text you this yeah a phenomenal ending to SmackDown and I saw what you did there and agreed this was like you could really really early into this promo you could feel that the fix was it and it only made it more captivating because this wasn’t so the Mark Henry W I think it’s important for those that maybe weren’t watching along at the time of which this has drawn a ton of inspiration from you put that great tweet out of the two things how they were happening simultaneously pastel colored suits and the like J in blue because he was in SmackDown the house he built but the Mark Henry one was a little bit out of nowhere they hadn’t really built on television that this could be like a a big and emotional night for Mark Henry and that was what made that so effective is because right up until the end his acting performance and the stuff he talked about in that about his injuries and about time off the road away from his family and all of that yeah it felt like he turned up for telly and they’ gone the doctor wants to see you and he said I’ve been checking some stuff and you got to call it now brother it was like he’d been thinking about this for a while and you know we’d seen wrestler retirements as well so they take a certain pattern and all that and then when Mark Henry subverted that whole thing what you then have to do is you have to subvert it again to make it real which then you get something heartbreaking like Brian in 2016 for example where it’s like now now tell us that and at WrestleMania I’m no no it’s just this is real this is really really like dark I guess watching a guy have to retire like this or edges was another example when he gave the title so because it’s all been flipped on its head yeah it’d be more of a shock if he just retired yeah like the angle Clacks and is blaring and you’re like enjoying the ride and if anything you’re waiting for the shoot the other shoot to drop what’s the bit when Cody’s going to turn there’s a point where I think Cody was like had his arm raised and he’s like turns AJ to me he did all four sides of the Ring the second side he’s actually like firing them Up’s like come on come on like that and you’re sort of thinking right here’s going to be the time stamp and especially because that’s the hard cam yeah they actually going to do like the whole week like what maybe maybe we’re going to wait on this maybe AJ’s gonna go like my brain is started to go AJ disappears off television now for a few weeks and he comes back and decks Cod when whatever and then when he finally hits him and it cuts to that bit where very very quickly the aisle is full of people trying to get to the get to the Dr and the good brothers are just like blocking the way fantastic so great not something you’d considered even when he’s doing the emotional goodbye to them um it’s such a cool uh turning point for AJ it’s kind of his year I wasn’t of the opinion that one like amazing match at backlash probably my WWE match of the year it’s not going to be like well EDS s’s back I think maybe he’s on the way though yeah because this promo was like delivered in such a heartfelt way reminded you how much you did care about him I want to see one more match between the two which I fully expect Cody to win again so it’s not like they’re dealing with unpredictability here and yet they’ve completely soed me as we talked about on that 3 week want to knock this one out with the Pay-Per-View again yeah like want to and they could stip it up like you know if I lose I’ll leave WWE for a year something oh no where could he go TNA where could he go TNA yeah something like the good Brothers holding CT on NXT so AJ goes down there and the OC run rough Shard for a bit AJ Stars versus trick Williams for bail but for this oh my God like yes and this is just off the tips of AD dicks but there’s beyond that it’s just simply I’ll get you again we talked about on the news I want him to bring back beat up John Cena for Cody rhods because again it further puts Cody in the place that John Cena wants was beat up Cody rhods like let’s have a bit of that every week it makes a good Brothers feel valuable again yeah like as bant Merchants with AJ but as proper Heavies as G Paul Herman’s terms thugs you know it’s like such an effective piece of Television if only for a three-week build for a clash of the castle match and it’s not the end of it is it like this AJR’s character’s got more legs after he loses to Cody RH and he will he’ll lose Cody but this I don’t know this breath of fresh air for this AJ character I think is very very welcome I could easily see this being the Catalyst for Smackdown GM I forget what his name is uh finally going I’m not having this F off with the bloody bloodline now you’re taking the piss out me and and and just booking yourself into title matches basically because you know Cody’s going to want to get his revenge well and we’ve done this four or five times now like if we’re constantly fantasy booking Smackdown JM can’t remember his name to take the jacket off then they’re doing something right yes because like the smackdown GM can’t remember his name wasn’t somebody I had top of my list I couldn’t literally couldn’t remember his name like to bring in a WWE they’ve done it in a role that you wouldn’t have anticipated they brought him in for and have kind of s half sold you on a bunch of matches when the day comes even like pman PS would be one if that got heated one like that easily heat that back up former title challenge of Postman Pierce indeed yeah like a once near Royal Rumble Main Event fact so yeah it’s uh long term it’s quite effective booking and like again like you mentioned TN both of them have got law on that show together so that again the opening up of the worlds helps all of this too really really fun and engaging Main Event segment the show really
