okay everybody if we can have some quiet in here please we are also battling the sounds of the storm so if we can keep as quiet as possible and if you guys can hold the mics as close as you can just to block out the brain noise that’d be great that way that’s perfect yeah okay everybody let’s welcome Martin kimer the captain of clicks GC and Bryson D Shambo the captain of Crushers GC to the Press Center welcome guys so welcome to Houston this kicks off the second half half of the Liv golf season and it marks our first time visiting Texas so Bryson I’ll start with you you are a Texas Boy tell us how excited you are to bring Liv to your home state well Texas is a Sports Nation I feel like they uh love their Sport and for them to finally see what live golf is all about is super exciting um I can’t wait to see the fans and see what they’re they’re going to do uh watching a lot of great play and a lot of great players um give him a give him a show I know they this this place has hosted some great championships and um Liv is only going to enhance that and Martin what is your experience playing in Texas and specifically Houston yeah as Bryon said um it’s one of those states that really into into their Sports um I mean I would say whole America is really into sports but especially Texas I played their Golf Course a few times before the Masters in in the past I always enjoyed it it’s a little bit of a different setup this week because of the the grass but overall I always had a good time here um I like Texas I’ve been to many different cities in Texas um and yeah I mean I look forward to to get started hopefully a lot of people will come out uh watch us play some golf hopefully hit enough Plenty or yeah plenty of good golf shots and then uh see where my team can end up so on that note Martin the clicks had a T2 finish in Singapore and you’ve had consecutive top 20 finishes what do you attribute the amazing performances by the cleaks this year um um I think if you see the players Richard Bland you know is playing really solid golf at the moment or let’s say for the last three three and a half years he recently won U the PGA Championship um for the seniors or Champions I I rather say so um we have a very good team spirit we we all get along really well we had a lovely dinner last night to celebrate his win Adrian is a very hard working guy very solid player um if he finds a little bit more consistency in this game um I think that would make him even even happier um kala is very excited to be out here um so we have a good good Dynamics um and if you talk about my finishes at top 20s obviously it’s not what I want I would rather be a little bit higher up but where I come from for the last two years it’s definitely trending in the right direction so let’s shift the topic to the majors Bryson this is your first start since coming off your solo finish at the or solo second at the PG Championship can you tell us a little bit about um that week and what your takeaways were from it uh yeah it’s funny it It’s can you hear me no no there we go there you go uh it’s funny because I really wasn’t hitting it my best going into that week um equipment was working fine just wasn’t swinging at my best and um I figured out some stuff after the PGA which is great but too late you know obviously for that but again I wasn’t hitting my best and it was just really surprising uh at having myself just be up at the top of that leaderboard uh on Sunday I was certainly shocked and surprised for myself a little bit just basic on the way I was hitting it made everything and that’s ultimately why I got up uh in that level and played ultimately had a chance to win but I was frustrated disappointed uh not to win I wanted two Live players to win that PGA Championship back toback years that have been cool but Xander played really well hats off to him obviously for uh doing what he did 21 under par was pretty special um and I gave him my all that that’s the thing I’m most proud about is I just threw it all out there I gave him my all did my best and um it’s it’s certainly fun feeling a lot lot of that uh uh nervousness out there the the nerves the pressure that’s what we play for that’s what we play golf for we want to experience being in it being in that moment and giving ourselves a chance to win and that excitement um so I was I was proud proud of the way I played um happy with the game that I have currently right now and just excited to continue the good play so you guys are both US Open Champions and you’re heading there next week um you’re among 12 of players that are playing next week Martin this will Mark the 10year anniversary since your win at Pinehurst what’s it feel like to be heading back there yeah we will see I I haven’t been back since since I won there so it’s obviously I have a lot of good memories um the way I played golf all week obviously was good but what Bryson was just talking about you know that that excitement that you have all week long you know being in contention being on top trying to ride that wave as long as possible and I was very proud of myself very similar to what he just said the way I was handling myself all week long because it’s quite difficult leading a golf tournament by that many shots especially big big golf tournament not only you expecting yourself to win but everybody’s expecting you to win and that is very difficult to continue and not compare yourself to what you have done the last couple days so every day I started new and I enjoyed I enjoyed playing golf I enjoyed the golf course and I enjoyed the challenge and sometimes you tell yourself I want to go out there and have fun but it’s not that easy you know sometimes if you have a tough start then you do get nervous you you do have some shaky shots and if you pull them off the way you want them that gives you the ultimate confidence and then you can continue your journey so and I and I did that really well um back then and this is what I’m searching for you know right now and Pinehurst obviously has a lot of good memories for me and um hopefully with the Forum that is trending in the right direction and the positivity that I gained back then in pinerest will hopefully create some good scores can you reflect on these last 10 years I know it’s it’s a lot has happened in between then but if you could just kind of sum it up and that feeling heading back there this week it was an overwhelming feeling winning a major by eight shots um I did not expect myself to do that um I know I was playing good golf going in there I I won the the PLAYERS Championship two months before that so I knew I was playing well but then shooting 10 on the par after two rounds on that golf course you know I I almost felt a little bit embarrassed about it because two days prior the event I was asked what I believe the winning score would be and I said probably two or three overpar and then you know you shoot 10 under and you surprised yourself but obviously the last 10 years if you would have asked me at the press or would have told me at the press conference that I’m not going to win a tournament from 2014 until 2024 I would have I would have thought you’re crazy but this is a reality and this obviously it’s quite difficult for me to to handle that I haven’t won since then um but this is the sport and I guess this is what we try to do you know to become better and and hopefully going to going to be be on top soon again Bryson you are arguably the hottest golfer on the planet right now and is it is it the stash kid the stash for sure joking uh as a former US Open champion from 2020 with your form being incredible right now how does Pinehurst suit your game and what are your expectations for next week so I actually played Pinehurst 2014 2013 I think right actually before the US Open with the SMU golf team might might have been I don’t know anyway it was with the college team and we um had a great time out there uh I know Bob deadmond that that owns the golf course pretty well and he’s a big supporter of SMU so we got to go out there and play and I I love the test of golf that it presented it was a lot of fun playing there um I played well that week uh that we were out the college team was out there and I’ve always had fond memories of Pinehurst and what pay Stewart has done and um it’s it’s a special golf course and a golf course I’ve I went out and actually played it played like three or four holes maybe a little bit more than that I think like five or six month five four or five months ago in early January um I went to see the USGA and talk to them for a little bit and um had a great time out there it was a awesome test of golf I know it’s not the conditions that uh will be presented next week but certainly got to see the golf course the way it looks the way it feels the way the greens uh kind of roll the slopes that are there so it was fun and I I I like that sty of golf it’s an iron play golf course for sure amazing and you did mention the stash can you yeah just kidding on can you tell us the stash we all want to know I did start it that was my fault I’m pretty sure mess out what up but that’s good uh you know it just I don’t know I had someone say he might look good in a stash and I was like all right I’ll try it I had a big Scruff and uh I shaved it all down then uh there’s a video that’s coming out on YouTube that uh is old school style I think I posted about it uh almost a week ago now and it looked good I thought with the outfit I don’t know if you guys saw but it’s the old school with the Hickory clubs and got the Beret on and the um uh the the whole get up the long socks and shoots all that so it was um definitely fit the outfit we’ll see how long this lasts though if I play Bad the first day I’m probably just going to shave it could be a good luck charm we don’t know could be you never U Martin last question for me so Richard Bland you had mentioned he just won the Senior PGA Championship his first major one at 51 years old he’s obviously been having a lot of success he finished in the top 25 of Liv last year how much of his success do you attribute to his move to live and then being a member of the Cs and having you as a captain yeah I think Richards um even before Liv you know he was I think a big thing for him was to win finally on any tour you know when he won the British M there was you know is it was one of those guys he always went from challenge to to European to and back and forth It’s so exhausting so I have so much respect for him what he has done to actually keep going and because it’s easy to ask yourself am I good enough to win or not if especially if if you have been up there for so many years and then he won the British Masters he was playing in America a little bit he did decent or well at some of the majors that that he played then so I think that gained a little bit of confidence and then the move to live being in a team that he that he enjoys a lot I think he’s a people’s man you know when when you get to know him really well he likes to be in a team environment and I think playing practice rounds going for for dinners together really helped his Spirit um besides the the game of golf so that we don’t really have when you play on the PGA toour on European tour you know you travel a lot more and you’re on your own quite a lot and in this environment here I think it helped golf a lot um and he knows I played with him last week and he says you know it helps me so a lot to play every single week against Bryson against John Ram Dustin Johnson those guys back back in the day I only saw them maybe once or twice a year and played against them now I need to bring my aame every single week and that drives me to really grind it out every single week and I think that’s that was also part of his success that he knows he needs to give everything he has love it uh just going do a quick audio check we good yeah okay all right Mike go ahead okay so uh Bryon can you just talk about the roster change this weekend for The Crushers and kind of give us an update on Charles’s Health yeah um so I got a text last uh well probably four or five days ago now and he’s like man I’m sorry I’m not going to be able to play and and he was like I uh fully snapped my leg in half no I’m kidding I’m joking he uh he has a a a stress fracture I think in his left leg I believe it’s a stress fracture don’t quote me on that but he told me it was a little hairline something in his leg and uh he said he just couldn’t do it this week but he’s trying to be ready for Nashville which is great and then uh funny enough I’ve uh played with John Catlin a little bit growing up in junior golf I’ve known him for quite a while and he’s been playing some amazing golf I thought he would be a great fit for The Crushers this week and um certainly looking forward to having him on the team this week and and helping out and and uh Martin kind of go to Jane’s question about Blandy what is it about his game at his age he’s 51 now that you’re seeing the last two years as a teammate I think he he has a lot of priority on certain parts of the game he he knows he’s not as long as most guys out here so I think his priority was hitting as many favores as possible and spending a lot of time within 120 130 yards in cuz he knows you know I need to be a little bit better than average out here in order to compete every single week and I think the way he did it over the last I would say 3 four years um he did really well you know if you see the stats he’s one of the best drivers out here he HS a lot of Fairways and in terms of scrambling and with wedges he his his uh proximity to the hole is I think his top 10 out here as well so he’s focusing on the things that he needs to do he knows he’s not he knows he doesn’t hit a 300 yards carry or 330 he knows that so he’s very realistic and this is something you know you need to you need to do um you need to know where your where your strength are and you also need to know what kind of weaknesses do I have and cannot fix those weaknesses if you want to say the length is a weakness you know you can’t fix that that’s he is over 50 you know that’s what it is so um I think he focused on the right things and Bryson I did want to ask you one question about the 3D irons uh do you see because of the rapid prototyping that 3D is capable of that eventually one day all golf clubs will be 3D or do do you see that at all um I I don’t know about that I think the process as of right now is a lot easier uh CNC milling a lot of heads compared to 3D printing once it gets to a price point that makes sense then maybe yeah but it it is somewhat expensive and I don’t think it’s for the mass consumption yet but it will get there and um I’m certainly looking forward to some improvements in the technology cuz man it’d be so cool to just have like a imagine having like a 3D printer at your house you just print your own iron or do whatever like you can put it together and go hit it that afternoon like that’s really cool compared to having a six-month process of prototyping it out and uh measuring it up and doing a couple iterations maybe that one of them’s right or one of them is wrong but you can just 3D print in an hour or so a metal head and you stick a shaft on it and you go hit it you know that that those days are coming I don’t know how quickly it’s coming but it’s certainly a really cool technology that we utilize and hopefully gets more widely known cuz um uh that’s that is the future it’s just it’s just not here fully yet for Mass consumption and and I want it to be I want it to be for sure uh price point just needs to come down quite a bit and one last question from me just about we’re starting the second half of the Season maybe each of you could just talk about uh you know this upcoming stretch the final stretch the the six tournaments and then the the team championship what what you kind of see what you kind of expect for the second half uh Martin you want to start yeah I think we are are again you know I think we’re trending in the right direction we had a couple good finishes recently um we are as I said you know we have a good team spirit there’s nothing holding us back we can compete um we are maybe not the best team on paper in terms of successes in the from from the past um but we have definitely the ability and the and the capability of of doing well and this is something I I look really forward to to work towards I know trying to to win one of those trophies I just said to Jane you know I never touched one of those trophies so I know you touched it plenty of times so I would like to I would like to do it you know I I would like to um finish on top one one time I think it would be really nice experience and it would mean mean a lot to our team yeah The Crushers are obviously leading right now we’re doing some pretty good things um our team isn’t necessarily playing the best the past couple weeks but that’s okay I I believe in them 100% I know that they’re golf is not a game where you can just be on top all the time um you’re going to have es and flows so I’m not worried about it I’m excited for the next six events I personally want to get the job done once and we all do right I mean we all pushing for it and you know sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t but um I think I’m proud of the guys for how they’ve shown themselves this year after winning last year being able to be a top of the leaderboard and push and continue to push and not just say ah yeah we’re good enough um no they they’re hard workers and I’m I’m I’m proud of them for that and they continue to fight and continue to work hard and uh we’ll see where the season ends up but uh I’ve got a lot of faith in my team y uh Martin the clicks posted their best ever finish in Singapore runnerup spot finish there do you look back on that as a team as a missed opportunity or the sign of better things to come wow this is the glass half full or half empty you know it’s one of those things I think of course if I I I blame myself um you know I had a good opportunity on 17 on the last round and a good opportunity on 18 and I I could have had two or three shots better I didn’t do that that would have that would have meant that we would have been on top so I take I take complete blame for that um but I think it’s a very good sign you know it felt good knowing that We we played solid we played well but we didn’t play our very best and if that gets us to number two already so that is it’s a good sign that you don’t need to play yourself out of your shoes in order to win one of those things so if I would have done a little bit better going uh going on the Sunday afternoon I think it would have felt a little bit better but in the end it was nice to to finish in the in the top three and especially you know solo second that’s that that meant a lot it’s a little loud right now I think we should just like take it is it doesn’t sound that bad oh okay okay cool we’ll keep going then hey Bryson uh you seem to have be having more fun than ever playing golf um whether it’s out here in kind of the cool environment of live whether it’s on YouTube losing a Garrett playing yep Junior clubs um is there something you kind of attribute that to that just how much fun you’re having is it how great you’re playing is it what what is it yeah I I think it’s me getting a little bit older and realizing um you know what we’re doing out here is obviously trying to win a lot of tournaments every single week we trying to win each and every week but you realize quite quickly at least I’ve started to realize quite quickly that we’re entertainers um yeah we’re out here doing a job but we’re also entertaining the fans um we’re trying to grow the game trying to show the fans what we’re all about and I think it’s important for people to to see and understand that um and so as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized I always kind of been a bit of a showman I’ve done some weird things in the past different things in the past but really showing my true colors and being able to allow myself to fully become how do I say uh positively emotional I I don’t know if that’s the way to describe it but uh as been attributed mainly to my equipment a lot of it’s to my equipment that has allowed me to just be comfortable on the golf course knowing where things are going to go not being afraid of oh I’m going to massively hit this left or way right putting the right equipment in my hands is giv me that freedom of expression to be able to show who I truly am on the golf course that’s really what I attribute it mainly to is getting a little older and getting the right equipment on my hands now to either one of you guys um is there something you guys can say kind of to the Houston residents who Maybe are on edge of whether they should come or not um what just it’s one of those like you have to kind of be here to experience it but is there something you guys can say I I think the first thing that I would say is try to keep an open mind just for one day one day come out here one day with an open mind I think you’ll be a fan for life yeah I I think you need to you can only have an opinion about something that you experienced and going back to to the PJ Championship I talked to a lot of people um about LIF and I asked them have you actually watched a shot or have you ever been to a event and some of them said no but I don’t like it and I said listen you know I never watched a cricket game but I would never say I like it or I dislike it cuz I don’t know so and as Bryson said you know I would I would also encourage the people people to come out for a day to experience it for themselves if they like it great if they don’t like it that’s okay too one over there hi uh morning Bryson I don’t want to lose the opportunity to ask you this because I think you’re maybe in the similar position um at your 14s you’re being top ranked on Teena uh top rank teenager in California uh you even say you’re feeling good with that reputation two weeks ago we wake with the tragic loss of Grayson muray for the reasons that everybody knows all the commission tours and players talk about the pressure the loneliness the the the this the feeling on the players on the professional tour but a few days ago we wake on another news that a 15 years old teenager miles Russell going to be play on the first time in the PGA Tour do you think a teenager about 14 15 years old need to be in a professional tour and do you think a teenager maybe like you on your 14s or 15 know how manage that kind of pressure that’s a great question first off I’ll say I knew Grayson pretty well and I haven’t really publicly spoke about this but my heart goes out to his family um it’s uh it’s not easy what he’s gone through what we all go through as professionals um my heart my heart aches for him and his family um yeah it’s golf is not a forgiving sport a lot of pressure is put on you at a young age especially when you’re good I’m not even saying myself you have Jordan spe you got Scotty you got so many great golfers that have had experiences of pressures at a young age and relating it back to myself on for just just a moment there’s been numerous times where I’ve second guessed myself on a massive level um my team’s experienced it I’ve experienced it uh even just coming out to live when I was playing terrible um not not up to my standards when I missed 14 Cuts in a row the pressure out here is immense and we all have to take our mental health very very seriously and so when it comes to U miles I mean it’s an awesome opportunity but giving us players and I think that’s what Liv is so amazing um that’s why live is so amazing is because we have that team aspect where we can rely on on on each other on your teammates that’s what I was do doing at Singapore last year um I was in a really bad place last year at Singapore and those guys Lifted Me Up I’ve talked about it beforehand but those guys lifted me up and it it’d be a different situation if those guys weren’t here if they weren’t there to push me forward and go no Bryson come on you can do it you know so out on uh any tour you’re playing on whether you’re playing mini tours challenge tours it doesn’t matter the pressure is ma is just massive and for Miles I think it’s it’s going to be a good test for him I hope he has the right people around him to continue to push him in a positive direction um because we all need that at the end of the day um the mental health aspect of golf is super important and um it’s it’s a tragic loss that we had with Grayson because he was a good he was a good man and I just think back to all the times we played junior golf we played junior golf as a world team championship at bow Bowling Brook actually um where we’re going this year so it’s going to be a hard-hitting moment for me when I go out there um cuz he was a friend as much as he struggled he was a friend and he was a good man and the pressures of golf need to be taken seriously and uh I wish miles the best of luck and I think he’ll do well he’s a great golfer but we all need to have a good support system and that’s that’s ultimately what Liv provides as well anyone else no okay great good luck this week in Houston and good luck at the US Open boys thank you thank you sorry that was a hard question at the end
