Talking golfing at Niagara falls Canada side while on holiday for Mrs McGolfs Birthday. Talking the courses played and how the wilson dynaforged worked.
[Music] we’re back we’re back from celebrating for Miss MC golf’s birthday and I survived we’ll be talking about that Wilson updates and some other stuff [Music] next welcome back to the golf shop Jim McClary here and this is what’s in my drawers golf talk why is it what’s in my drawers because old Club makers and Club Fitters are tremendous packrats and I’m no different it’s about what’s in my drawers that’s in the shop and it talks about Golf Club repairs Golf Club fittings Golf Club reviews all so your scores can go low all right hopefully everybody had a good weekend or a good time off we took that Memorial Day and then turned around and uh did a lot of building did a lot of upkeep and I’m looking at Mrs mcgolf’s birthday present which will be a screened in porch and and not only that because it was her shall we say 30 years years old times two and we took her to Niagara Falls Niagara Falls on the Canadian side and everybody says the Canadian side looks a lot nicer and I can I see the Viewpoint because from the Canadian side you can see all the all the falls and whatnot right and M MLF allowed me to play me and Bob so and Bob’s other half penny which keeps tries to keep Mrs McGolf in line uh they went out and they did their shopping and they looked around and they found stuff did some investigations and uh had a had a good time all in all so just a real quick run through we went and played uh two golf courses and they’re both considered mut but they’re both in very very good shape uh one is called the whirlpool and the other’s called battlefield and they’re both significantly different types of golf courses so before we get into that like And subscribe hit the Bell on the bottom receive all the notifications tell your friends let’s do some subscribers ships and I appreciate that and then we’ll talk about the next big news all right so here we go this is Whirlpool this is taken off this is like the first te uh in both cases you’ll notice that there’s barely a blemish a there’s barely a blemish on any one of these holes that was this PL both these places were wellmaintained pain I have to give give props to the the superintendent I mean now the the thick on these guys was a little bit uh was standing up but it was keeping you know was keeping the grass green now the fairways were decent and the uh the only thing that we really struggled with honestly in the whole time around was the sand uh the sand Bob struggled mightily too and Bob is one terrific sand player and you know he gets down there gets the sand and comes back up now if you look at these in this particular one these sand traps have the appearance of being manicured and they are they’re they rake they look good the edges are clean the whole nine yards but there it’s very it’s a very granular sand it’s not like you would see for instance like going to Myrtle Beach where it’s very fine it was very granular and it wasn’t very deep and and so you had to go down into the clay if you’re really going to Splash it you had to go down into the clay and get some uh fortunately for me I’m not that kind of a sand player and I pick the ball so it worked well for me Bob on the other hand he was he was trying to figure it out I think he got it there towards the end but the first couple were really uh they were flamboozled him all right so of course this has water on it as well now the I would say that the the mixture of water sand trees you know uh cuts of rough were very very well balanced at Whirlpool you know because it does it has some undulation changes the and I think that those greens there were a little bit more uh undulated or more manipulative than the ones at Battlefield uh Battlefield was a little bit more wide open was more of a lyx style course now uh we’re playing here and uh this was just a just a really neat golf hole basically and I just had to take a golf shot of it here’s some more this is more uh more of it and then here’s Battlefield no that’s more of the other one really didn’t get any Battlefield picks which I had some really good ones so needless to say the battlefield wide open meticulously maintain and both both what I thought was kind of funny was the Green in every in both Greens in both cases were uh they were very nice they rolled very well uh but when I mean I come in from outter space and would either not leave a divot or leave a very small divot and yet it wouldn’t go rolling off it would hold which is a again a testament to the greens folks uh in both you know both cases very well very well done uh and a testament to the Canadians in the in the first one we had a guy that said he specialized in the death care industry which will stay with me forever because it was just funny the way it came out of him he’s re retired individual and the lady he was golfing with was a professor I believe she taught law and and together they were just the nicest people you ever wanted to meet and uh we helped him I helped them out a little bit and they were they were enjoying golf more which was the premise in the second round we got a couple of younger guys you know 30s and 40s younger guys and just absolutely could beat the driver beat it to death and uh and and but as they got closer you could tell I call it a Young Person’s disease they love beating that driver up but you get a little closer and sometimes that touch just wasn’t really there and but they played very very well uh and I worked with one guy was once he figured out that I was a a fitter the questions came flying and it was great the uh and he’s very methodical and very had the patience that would make a really good golfer and I just showed him one I showed him one tweak and and uh started hitting better and that was a good thing and the other fella uh was just absolutely pummeling the ball so all in all great time uh it was just we got caught off guard and I will say this uh for those that are don’t travel a lot particularly from the states are going to Canada be prepared it is a different way of um I mean obviously it’s a different country right so I will say this we went we went to a very nice restaurant there at Niagara Falls and we had our dinner it was a very nice dinner it was very good and when the we saw what the bill was and then there was about a 25 to 30% increase in the bill and it was due to all the added taxes that uh Canada adds for being in Niagara Falls very much like sunshine tax and then Providence and cities and government and they all got their cut it was all added on and is to pay for uh the medical and what other government you know subsidies that that Canada or the local Providence provides and that’s just the way they do it there now I’ve only ran into that one other place and that was in San Francisco when they were trying to pay The Californians wanted us to pay uh more for the health care for a whole lot of people I don’t agree with that but because we have our own system however that’s Canad that’s the Canadian system and so be it you know you just got to know that going in once you understand it it’s a no it’s a no-brainer but sometimes it can be a shock to the system I’ll leave it at that all right so I would be I would be remiss in not showing you a few uh we had an awesome Place Mr mcolf and Penny got us a very nice location at the Sheridan and this was our view that’s what we saw from our balcony all right and at night at night the uh the waterfalls light up and I can’t tell you because I I can’t tell you if it’s a light shining on the water or if it’s a light from behind the water my guess is shining to it but we’ll see then you got the other one this is the second fall there and it would change and all these were changing colors it was almost like mood lighting all righty and uh so it was I mean we just we just had the most awesome spot to go to look at this stuff and they shot Fireworks off at 10 at 10 o’ on the dot very very punctual and we were actually looking down towards them and I got some really great video on that of which I’ll spare you here but uh that was really cool let’s see I got some more of it here’s some more changing colors right there you get to see it all coming in that’s the Horseshoe and then that’s what it looks like during the day and right there during the day I mean just super cool right just super cool and you know of course we had to take the obligatory boat tour and and so here we are the obligatory boat tour of course I’m soaked to the bone got water everywhere see Miss mcgl she’s she looks like she’s been drowned and with the falls in our back to our back and then we got Bob and Penny right there you seen Bob there’s M there’s Miss Penny and and uh going out there now I will say uh before we move further it was probably the most eclectic group of people I’ve ever seen uh from all walks of life as far as countries being represented and it was and it and it just goes to show you how small the world is uh there was a a little lady that probably her head didn’t get above my shoulder and she was just having the time of her life and and we had the whole railing occupied and she’s just happy as a clam and I asked her I said hey would you like to get up here near next to the rail and she was grinning from ear to ear water splashing stuff crashing in on it just getting wet and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread made her day her husband standing right there and I said you you want to get on some of this she goes oh no she was just all excited about this so she got to see the falls and the whole nine yards and then the second this and then the world being small uh I got to talk and this other fell just comes up and says hey where you from because he heard me speaking and I said well we’re from Southern Ohio goes ah I’m from Lexington I said get out and uh and we started talking I said I was down there for a Bourbon Trail he goes oh I work at I work at Wild Turkey so the the bourbon started talking and uh it was just it was a good time it just you meet all sorts of folks everybody was friendly so that that was the uh that was the good time I will have uh and then there is a Hard Rock Cafe there was right next door to us uh it’s hard rocks are neat but honestly it was it is what it is and it was what it was uh but personally there’s better food out there uh the the lady that served us was an absolute gem she was awesome U and the dessert that they brought out was humongous beyond all repair uh the food in between I you know I enjoyed got poutine because I haven’t had it in for ages I thought the poutine was excellent that however the main dishes were hamburgers and when you’re going to crank out $50 for a hamburger it better be something else and it was not but the rest of it was very very good okay so we got through that we know we did some uh build a lot of sets I didn’t include them in this one however I do want to give you an update before we do the update number one thank you rd1 rd1 has this is the this a double Oak Maple uh just shy one tenth of a percent from 100 proof and I always want to try the maple flavoring and they’re not real big on heavy flavoring but you can smell it and just a nice hint of the flavor very well they did very well in that they got an ambera which we’ll do next uh that got a lot of love from the bourbon junkies but it’s all good and before we leave let’s before we go to the next step these came in look at that it came up see if it goes up there we go so we’ll do that again there we go we got some new hats in and new colors and kind of a newer style they’re still branded bills and so we got two Styles we got the MC golf American flag MC Golf and they’re Flex fits they’re Flex fits with a velcro back so these things now unlike the ones before these actually give quite a bit all right they actually give quite a bit so this is a gray that’s more if you get in close you see the the Heather in it it’s got a kind of a an updated kind of look to it more a little more fancy it’s a uh it’s a smooth texture it just it just looks like it has texture then we have the blue and it looks a little darker here but that that’s kind of the blue that we’ve got and then we’ve got this is a new color they just came out with this one red I think this one looks really good the Reds actually match on this and then last but not least the white I still even got my badge on it the white this one I like know White’s gonna get dirty I know Jim but uh I like it I think the it looks good all right so the other one we got two different badges if you don’t like the American look that’s that’s fine we have the regular one the golf custom clubs in the regular one and that’s a that’s what our Old School logo in some cases and then it came in that one it came in this one there we go in the gray hopefully you can see some more of that texture in there there we go uh I got two I got two of those but there’s a black one imagine this with the in this color and then there’s a uh and then the white one again that just about as as plain as it wants to get but it looks good and of course they all stretch they all adjust and for those of us who are are small-headed challenged me uh I’ve got about this much attached to it I if you can see it there it is doesn’t look bad and it’s very comfy that’s the most important for me it’s got to be comfortable this The Sweat Band is very very comfortable okay so we got the that so you guys saw that apparently the the Wilson the wilson video is very popular apparently people like uh comparisons might have to do a few more of those videos anyway uh so I got them built and got them bent and I I went and played a around here locally before taking off we I got like one round in uh in fact that was on Memorial Day with Bob and we went and played and it felt like I was hitting everything out on the toe and I was like what is going on so I came in here and you got to keep in mind that these are left-handed but there’s the five iron all on the inside oh come on now there’s the six iron well looks like that there’s the six iron that one was an extra shot they’re all down here this is the seven iron see notice how they’re all in the all in the heel here I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing all of a sudden though from the eight iron on in well the eight iron I started making the middle then I went back here made the middle went back here made the middle for both of those little Healy so overall it was in the heel now what did I do I bent these things up based on a recommendation from a fitting club and and not necessarily actually testing it so I had bent them up more than what was scheduled so I brought them all back down and uh that was be that was while I before I I I just bent them and I put them in the bag and off to Canada we went we’ll talk about that one here in a minute however we’re going to do this let me see if I can get this on here let me show you what I did I went and did a gap ing session just after all this was done so here we go so I’m going to do a lot of stopping and starting so if we look and my swing speed now this is after a whole day of golfing so I’m pretty much done but if we look uh the distance gaps they’re not exactly you know 145 155 165 but they’re in the they’re in a wheelhouse of sorts and uh let’s see if it’ll play there we go so what I’m looking at next is what was my club head speed and right there it reduces you know in a in a step pattern now when it comes to the gap wedge the gap wedge is a little different you see this ginormous uh opening right here and the reason why it’s there is because I normally just hit the gap wedge as a 100 yard club and that was a half swing and I hit that thing dead center and it went good now these are all averages but the spin on it was good I hit it in a decent place you know in fact all most of these all the spin rates I think were just outstanding alrighty so now we get in here quality of Hit the quality of hit for a five iron that was out all these are really really good the five six and seven are there the the eight is okay the the nineiron and the pitch and wedge are the nine iron was a little off fact it was a lot off and then the and then the pitching wedge comes back and it’s okay as well all right and that’s what we’re going through right here so and I think it has a lot to do with being in the heel right and then what we’re going to do is we’re going to show you some flights so this was the five iron and we’ll just go through it one at a time five iron was actually I mean I hit it in a good pattern I just didn’t hit it to the distance that I want now when we were playing in in uh in Canada I I got it I got the distances I was looking for I got that 195 is and and I got that out there I hit a couple in that because I was in that range the six iron got into the 180 range that I was wanting you the 180 plus range the seven iron worked very very well in fact I hit it best of all of them I think and and then the the nine iron I hit it I hit it once just out of sight great and the rest of the time I would say I was still average and then when it came to the pitching wedge and the and the gap wedge they’re absolute money uh I in fact I told Bob a couple of times I said okay I’m 104 yards out I’m G take me just a h just a little bit of extra swing and I’m gonna land it really really close I’m a one putt I’m gonna par this hole and and sure enough I did called my shot a couple of times on that one that was kind of fun all right so here’s where they landed so if you look here there’s the gap wedge there’s the pitching wedge there’s the nine iron there’s the eight iron there’s a seven iron six iron and then the five iron so for a guy that’s only hit three rounds in his entire year and that was the end of it uh not too bad right not too bad at all uh and and it just got better and the the funny part is it was the only it was really the thing that saved me golfing because uh my driver absolutely left me couldn’t hit the thing more than 20 30 yards I was topping it so bad it was it was awful and uh so I I I was hitting my two hybrid and I was throwing the two hybrid out there where I I really didn’t have much I had in most cases on par fours I didn’t have anything but maybe an eight long maybe an easy seven in the most of the clubs on the par fives I just broke out another hybrid and hit into it so it was I mean it was a good time don’t get me wrong but my it was disappointing that the driver failed me and uh however for our next uh video next week or for we going in there we tested the Shogun Bob and I both hit them and we really had some interesting we had some very very interesting results you know we did a a a 42 m0o that thing that all the long drivers are using uh had the green shaft and had the red shaft uh the red shaft gave it which is supposed to be for the gorilla types uh gave us some very very very interesting results in fact some of the longest clubs I’ve ever hit and using Wilson as the as the driver but this is more about the shaft so next week we’ll talk about that all right let’s get to some questions boom all the way to the top here we go first in line shot of 75 at a local Pete D track all right how does warmer weather affect your game I like that I can compress the ball easier with the weather but the greens are getting fast well that doesn’t bother you I like the warmer weather I don’t like it’s stupid hot but I like the warmer weather just so I’m comfortable you know there is a spot right about where the golf ball stops playing well with others and I believe it’s right around that 50 to 55 degree range uh you get up in 60s it’s fine uh but it starts it starts not wanting to fly uh outside of that I’m good John lamb very nice round Matt warmer weather you here we go again I do this there we go let’s see if it’s going to move nope very good uh War used to make it hit higher compression balls without having feel like rocks now it takes miks and pains a tad more beable that’s about right we got back from our annual six rounds 4 day kataa in Golden made a great time rais some good money for charity and now my legs are asking me what was I doing there you go as long as you had fun oh cabba or oh welcome to cabba cabba or oh cabba yeah it was uh Michael was something else oh there it is welcome to Canada yeah I mean I enjoyed it it was it was fun and you know my car converted over to metric so that was easy and uh you just getting used to the the added tax outside of that is all good I’d recommend it at least to go there once and uh and see all the stuff and you know at my age I can avoid all the touristy stuff uh I was going to Mrs McGolf and Penny had this perfect matter of fact do I have my phone I do not if I would have had my phone I could have shown you the most perfect picture of those two but I just don’t have it Matt thanks John only one birdie but kept the ball out of trouble all day that’ll help alrighty greetings from Myrtle Beach John Cherry’s down there he’s back Jim okay we got is the Mitsubishi mmt a good shaft to use for one length irons is it a combination of Steel and graphite also how about Project X graphite shafts well they’re both good shafts John uh the Project X graphite like the lzs or something along that lines is probably a little more friendly shaft than the mmt the mmt is a very very nice shaft and yes there’s a little bit of a that metal it’s called metal mesh technology so yeah there’s some metal in there and uh and it makes for a very very stable club uh where the other the Project X is more you’ll feel more of the flex in it okay so you you have to figure out which one you like now by all recommendations you know the the ones that technically have it the best is the is the pon that’s because they got some made for the top that are single some for the made for the middle that are single lengthers and some for the bottom and the and they’re a little bit different for each it’s kind of like a flighted system for single length nobody else is doing that because it just really wasn’t that I mean it’s a neat idea it’s just not massively popular that uh companies are going to devote a lot of time to so can you make that happen a little bit probably uh and it doesn’t have to be Mass you know when I when I talk about these things I get this idea that people go oh it’s this kind of a change you know just huge huge huge change well no it’s not uh it’s very very small changes you know so you could have what you could do is find your middle where you want your irons to play like you know fit the middle ones first right and then maybe trim the upper ones just maybe a hair less and the bottom ones maybe a hair more quarter inch to maybe even a half of an inch yeah I know oh it’s going to be a flex no You’ probably be fine and because they’re all going to weigh the same you’ll be will the flexes be identical no but that’s the idea you want them to you want to get a little bit more snap at the top and a little less snap at the bottom you want control and that’s one way of pulling that off uh it’s kind you know it’s not identical you know with the with the idea of single length where you same swing same thing same different different reactions for different clubs okay so it just depends on how you want to go about it my dog Rex says give them thumbs up guys I appreciate that thank you sir that’s talking back to Robin Phil K happy Monday Happy Birthday Robin from Austin Summers come early yeah it’s starting to heat up here too I’d like to show you I think maybe in a week or two once we get it all figured out right now I’m looking at uh three fans that are rolling they’re going around and which is one of my that was one of my biggest things that what we can get a lot of dead air because it’s like in a uh a uh a three-sided it’s in a three-sided shed basically and you can almost have zero air flow and these three fans are going it feels really really good and then we’ll get it all screened in so we won’t have any bugs and uh maybe will sit out there and we can talk about golf outside that’d be kind of cool and there’s Charlie Charlie was pretty good you know I’m I’m I I refuse to be a hater uh it it was definitely an experience that you you know that you want to have it was it was very neat I’d like to maybe one day when we’re passing by maybe the New York side uh talking to the Canadians they all knew they all knew how to get around everything go over to the American side some stuff bring it back uh but it was it was very cool I like it was very clean I will say that I will give give the Niagara folks there a huge shout out it was extraordinarily clean all right what’s the waiting time right now for 2:45 three weeks in Waiting really well I bet Mrs mcgl can beat that we’ll see see I’m sure she’s gonna answer down here in a moment there’s Charlie happy belated birthday Dean how you doing Mr Dean happy birthday to Robin look at her birthday still not over oh it’s all about her I’m gonna get a I’m gonna get a wave here that I’m number one in her book pretty soon mother’s 82 well happy birthday to your mom on June 2nd which was yesterday so happy birthday to her nice round here we go hey Jim R MC golfers Jim have you seen pcks of the Callaway’s upcoming wedge looks to be named Opus as in Cleveland magnum’s Opus H I have and I’m telling you what you are the absolute you you are the The Insider for Calaway and hell I’ve got an account with him and I have not heard this one that would be kind of cool I definitely want to see it that’s for sure I I now in my bag I got the I got the you know got Wilson irons in there I’ve got the Rogue s sitting in here as part of my thing but uh the J grind in the in the full face the full toe man couldn’t beat it absolutely could not beat it it works for me I love those things and the Paradigm and the and the Paradigm hybrids were just I was slaughtering them so if I could just get the big stick to work and I might actually have a golf game there we go mark what do you say buddy other than using rattle stop any tips or tricks for removing a piece of epoxy out of a golf club too large to come out uh well dude if it won’t if it’s too big to come out of a weight Port hle that’s a pretty damn big that’s pretty damn big piece uh the uh if you had the patience of a saint and a dental tool you can get those from Harbor Freight and you can get it to where you can get it in there maybe you can grab it with one of those curved pieces and get it and break it in half by pulling down through the weight port and then and try and rattle them out that way outside of that you’re using rattle stop because if it can’t come out you can’t drill it because it’s just going to Route it’s going to move uh and if it’s truly a piece of slag it’s metal then may sometimes it’s thin and if you can get through that you maybe can pull it down and break it and then you can get in all right P funing any experience with Edison wedges uh well I’ve got experience with its predecessor uh and I had it went it way back it was two generations prior but uh those and he’s still doing the exact same thing he’s putting the Lofts and the The Lofts on it and the bounces are incremental with the Loft and that has kind of a very Nar visil now Terry kler has got a a serious short game the dude the dude can the dude can throw it in there with a wedge and uh does very very well now uh when I played him that when I played them I carried them for a while and they did very fine for me but I am not a big divot taker so if you’re a big divot taker even with the vou wedge you very well may not like them however if you’re just a guy that Clips the ground no problem uh I I don’t think he subscribes to the speciality wedge shafts which I think would make those things true weapons if he actually put them in there John lamb hope your birthday celebration was one of the top 10 memorable ones she better say yes whoa look at here Keith Salzman this is one of the happiest golfers I’ve ever met got my best score ever a couple weeks 88 with the D of fours you go man well done I will say since we’re so when I was playing Bob playing with Bob I shot a 42 and a 43 on one side on both courses unfortunately I covered it up with a 47 and a 49 uh just and that was when when you hit the driver when you hit the driver 20 yards it’s going to cost you stroke you know that was just what it was now there’s a couple times I covered that up with I just hit one way out there and chip on real close and Putt and make par I thought well if that’s the way it’s going to be I’m going to hit one way off the top all day long and just hit it like that and just know that I’m going to do it and then I started hitting the the hybrid really well and then all of a sudden I had to figure out a whole another reason why I was bogey in a hole oh all right gent keep out ball out of TR is key to a great round you are absolutely correct yep there we go missing me golf talking back there you go you could hear the walls from your room sleeping with the sound water pounding over the falls yes you could and uh the door when you opened it up it was like a roar rushing in the uh they had insulated glass doors if you could believe it and uh when you closed it it was you could still hear it but it was a muffle sound and it was funny I was asking the rest of them if they heard it they were all sleeping but uh after all the the fireworks and everything and the town started closing down uh out came the young kids because now all the loud cars and loud motorcycles started making their started making their rounds and the second night it sounded like a couple of them were drifting you know and pretty soon right after that you heard the the almost inevitable sound of a cop car and then all of a sudden it got quiet so it was kind of funny so it doesn’t matter where you are they still got car kids they still got loud cars and they still go cruising at night not all Canadian provinces had added taxes that Ontario have do not judge the whole country by the Eastern folks who live by the money grab well we won’t I mean we went I’ve been to Vancouver and thoroughly enjoyed myself out there uh Robin and I went and we went over the bridge went up into the mountains and I was telling the guys in Ontario I said the first time in my whole entire life that I thought I needed to wear shorts next to a six foot uh snow drift and it it was very it was very unique it really really was and uh in the folks down in The Gaslight District just fun is all get out outside of it my a little bit iffy but the rest of it was very very nice and we did that that was a lot of fun there too now I noticed a little bit extra but nothing nothing gross you know it was it was a good time Jamie step how you say man hey jimy R thank you for the great customer service Dax really enjoyed the fitting system oh fitting session can’t wait to get his new clubs well dude I tell you what he’s going to now you heard I don’t know if you guys heard me Dax is that he was that kid that uh he’s the kid that hit the six iron like 230 and 240 and he’s for a baseballer he’s got real game he does he’s got real game and uh I I fully suspect he is going to embarrass the crap out of his buddies once he gets these things in his hand but Jamie be proud of your son he’s a good little he’s a good young man I think he’s going to do well Matt says happy belated birthday Mr P a combat veteran from Puerto Ric Puerto Rico well congrats Mr P I’m glad you’re on with us that’s awesome been to Puerto Rico the Navy stops there every once in a while and uh we got there just right after a uh or no just before a hurricane and uh but they were still recovering from another one they the good folk what was the temperature of the water well bud from the spray and all the rain it really wasn’t that bad uh the the it was funny we went North and it was about 55 in the morning it got to about 75 during the day and we went out there about one o’clock so it was like the perfect time to go Sun’s blistering on you and all the rain starts hitting you and nobody was shivering when they left I guarantee you and when you when you go up the elevators and you snake your way up there pretty much you’re dried off by the time you get to the top except for your shoes so it was pretty cool oh there you go she’s answering you there Mike so if you decide you want to change your mind let us know all righty let’s see what we got here okay uh Drew go came through my area of Upstate New York yep we are up in that neck of the woods uh you know that that drive up through Buffalo I uh of course we were on the off time I can see that I can see that place being a mad house at at you know quitting time but uh for the three or four lanes it was it was pretty good ride and uh I will say this that you know I’ve been through there through that’ll be the third time and this is the first time that the border patrol got was I will say cordial gave happy birthday to Bob which his was a few days earlier and and Mrs McGolf and and on the way out very same thing uh they were doing their job to be sure asking the right questions and whatnot but the uh uh but you know the other two they just like they didn’t even like wearing their uniform or something but the these guys over the falls no I don’t think they they could have been bourbon bals I think that was the very first one that went over uh yeah they tend to frown on that now hello from Myrtle Beach played last week in a four-day National retired military Golf Classic played tradition Golf Club Long Bay Myrtle Beach National and Willowbrook well if I don’t hear anything really good about this Peter because you’ve been slaying it lately uh that would be awesome and while I got him here Mr Peter sent us a $49.99 thing said happy birthday to Robin on it so thank you so very much Peter we appreciate it certainly you didn’t have to do it but I thank you very much Jamie’s welcome thank you Dex you’re next in line oh yeah she’s already put you on the bench dude I got the other baseballer on there he’s dried up we gotta we gotta finish him up and then you’re next we’ll be in September there you go as soon as his four and wedge arrive okay here we go I was waiting on this one 75 73 72 74 one low gross nice placed six in a low net and in the team event 26 well what happened to the other guys you’re you’re like the gang Buster here man well done good job there’s Herman still haven’t received my Wilsons they I was told the clubs are in production man telling you what bud you’re getting you are getting you are getting strung along it could have been the not necessarily the heads but maybe the shafts all right talking to Drew Glenn RS Peter Herman there’s Ron Griffin what say sir thank you for visiting us oh there’s that train Ron’s that young that young man that came to visit from Detroit and he has got serious game on that train stuff that was really cool Sally wants a white hat need to pick up time to head down all right we’ll save you one guys tell her which which brand you want on the front Herman nice hat Jim very good thank you like if you saw in the beginning we saw we got some of the other colors if you like we got the red if you like the USA one and then uh did a dad catch on that the blue and then I think this one when people see it up close and personal this will get really popular with that Heather kind of look to it very very neat and then they got the with the traditional badge on it too and there you go she said we can stop by June 22nd Saturday we are going to a crew game that night oh there you go what ball were you using Jim well you know what I used I used the Callaway Tour or the Callaway Chrome tour on the first round and I used the Wilson sorry the other way around I used the Wilson on the first one and I used the Chrome tour on the second one and uh man oh man both worked very very well they both head out there just like we wanted him to uh I’d say they you could game either one of them overall feeling I think uh the re and I never missed one to my outside never once didn’t spray it out to the right never once I was I if nothing else I hooked them and the reason why I hooked them was more the operator than the club because I was finishing like this as opposed to finishing like that and when I did this every time it was a bullet an absolute bullet and it went right where I wanted to go and what I would you and this happens to me every year the very first two or three two or three rounds I feel like I’ve always got to muscle the club in order for it to work uh and it basically what that is is a very high level lack of trust in my own swing and when I relax and I hit him like say half shots or something like that absolute dead on so I just got to go back out out there and realize that I don’t have to kill it in order for him to work and uh I think the scores will reflect the same lower scores that I’ve done in the past what about you dude Brody what do you say hello all of the live stream Jim when gripping should the tape close off at the end of the shaft or should there be a Hole uh it should be should be closed off okay should be closed off when you slide the grip on should the hole be covered uh in both cases both both your answers are yes okay uh you want it closed off at the end because when you go to push through you create this V we create this pressure that allows the the grip to get just a hair bigger while it’s sliding on now the reason why I cover the back end or the we pole is because I don’t want to get and the reason why I wear this right is so that if you did it like that is this thing Bud yes sure is uh is because it’ll just come squirting out at you and you can stand off to the side and do it then it goes squirting out into the stuff in the back so what I like doing is I like pushing it through and uh you know and leaving let the residual uh leak out as I let off on the on the weep pole it might squirt it might you know goes and it might do nothing but in every casee you’re protected and if you look I’ve got a couple if you go on the on my library I’ve done a couple I I talked to that pretty heavily on a couple of videos John Davis why did you try shaping any of your shots how do you how do they compare with other irons that use variable face without shot shap or with shot shaping well I don’t so John I don’t think my my game is refined Enough To Try and shape a shot can I hold one open yes but uh in a lot of cases for me being a lefty most of the courses I play are are basically they’re for right-handers who can draw the ball if you look at a lot of courses that’s they’re they they very seldom see dog leg rights you know there are some out there to be sure but very seldom they’re dog leg left and that’s because those people going to hook it around a tree or something along that lines if they’ve got that shot for me I’d have to hit a cut all day and I’ve been trying to get rid of this cut for so long that I’ve got written of it got rid of it and I can keep it when I’m striking it I can keep it in the middle of the Fairway and I really don’t need to shape one one way or to another now can I hook it yeah I did it all day one day when I was playing out here and it was I was off the toe and I was keeping my distance and it would just but it was hooking and it was literally a hook it’ take off right down the groove and it would hook a whole entire you know half of a half of the Fairway and some of the rough and I have to go find the dog on thing so that’s that’s just where we’re at but as far as variable face uh Tech um you know there’s only a handful that are really promoting that you know of course uh Callaway has been doing it for a while uh and I guess most of them depends on what you’re you got to be real careful when you say variable face right because Callaway’s done it and they’ve done it in such a way that it looks like waves from an ear you see how the the different pieces it looks like that in a in a it’s not symmetrical but it follows the the shape of the face or the shape of the head not the necessarily the face and then in others they will be very symmetrical and you start with a circle and it just gets out like rings on a on a on a lake and on this one it’s more of you know goes up and down I think so there each technology is just a little bit different what you really want to be afraid of one of the one of the things that you want to be afraid of is a hot spot now when callway first started out that the very first set that they had had hot spots in them and they’ve got they fixed that and they’ve gotten rid of it uh in mauno they have thinf face technology they don’t say variable face and Munos are gray irons right to be sure uh you get a little bit of that in the shons and and again it’s not variable face but it is a manipulation of the face and then you get to Wilson and they’re the ones that are saying that so all in all is and the big thing is really what it comes down to is the variable face is so that depending on the person and if you watched that last video they talk about it that most people will hit the golf club out on the toe and I was doing it and so that they they design the club to have a little bit of weight out in the front much like mauno does and and have that face thickness so that it is very um forgiving when it hits the toe the the Paradigm smoke is very much like that as well in fact they got a little uh they got a little marketing tool that tells you how if you’re in the heel or the toe you’re you’re way more forgiven than if you’re in the middle so you got to keep that in mind all right we’re talking to here we go how does mmt compare to Steel fiber uh so the mmt they talk about Metal mesh Charlie is that uh if you look at the if you look at the tip section of it you can see in the in there that it almost looks like there’s a a a piece of metal that has been you know you know wrap the graphite wrap the metal wrap the graphite and there you go I personally think it’s way more than that I’m just simplifying it on now on steel fiber it’s graphite but it’s this ultra thin dental floss wire that wraps all the way down and then it gets covered up so it’s a little different different comparison does the foam in the old Tim send Max driver break down over time I threw one in the golf bag and it seems like the face was a lot hotter and Crush some drives I don’t think that it would I don’t think that it would to be honest with you hey there’s my buddy Matt what do you say buddy there’s he’s talking back there we go Charlie John lamb maybe you were hitting more of the center Sweet Spot yeah there you go there’s Ron from Michigan he’s talking to us now and there is M Mr Matt uh give her oh she’s got one right now Charlie she’s got one right now she’s got to get back in shape when we get ready to go on vacation I mean vodka drinking shape my favorite father-in-law bought me a bot vaka there you go no not cream soda one she says whipped cream very much like whipped cream and she she puts the Dr Pepper to it or even root beer there we go Howard Shore what do you say I play the absolute there you go there’s a there’s another uh positive for the Edison wedges Howard likes them there we go congrats on the PB oh there it is thank you again thank you again Peter appreciate that very much it’s not what you shot about how you hit your irons there you go there’s the thank you see you then okay how many gallons of water per minute do the FSE produce you know what they said it and I wasn’t listening and it is some huge number it is a gross number it’s just it’s a monster Chad they’ve told us about the hurricane inside the Horseshoe Falls down and yep that’s it alrighty din of Forge already covered yep way to go Keith fit your big dome better it does doesn’t it maybe it’s just because it’s white sounds like me yes there’s Andrew what do you say sir very much it is thank you for joining us are those hats for sale they very much are just give Mr McGolf a uh a call she’ll take care of you what degree wedge do you see paired with a 790 50° uh there’s two ways of looking at this one Andrew number one the most popular and the easiest to do would be a 5458 uh in order to keep the what would be to the traditional 4 degree increments however uh you could go as I you could go as much as five and you could take a a a high bounce 56 and crank it down one so it it’s less bounce and and get that assuming that’s what you want and get with 55 and then go with the 60 and then you got five between them just depends on your game and where you’re playing okay I tend to have a 50 I have a 50 in mine that was what the uh the a wedge and the Wilsons are and I carry a 56 now why is that because it fits my game and what I mean is that my half swing with the gap wedge is about a 100 yards right right in 100 yards my full swing is about 120 and I know where to play that where my sand went Edge I very rarely if ever uh hit a full swing with it and I know it’s a 75 yard shot so can I put a little bit more mustard in it yes I can I can get it out there a little bit more and in the summertime if I’m feeling kind of Pinchy and I can get it down I can get a half swing out there a lot further but as a whole about 75 and my quarter swing is probably closer to a 50 yard shot and and so on and so forth but that it’s all about knowing your distances at that point all right good evening and Lumbard what you say Jack I like the shafts man the uh the the new ones the NEOS the 95s I like them they uh I could feel them getting through the club uh it wasn’t whippy I felt very much in control um and I like the weight so yeah they did good and then and Andrew says I feel a set wedge is hot thinking 54 but wouldn’t mind spending out to 55 or 60 that’s about what we were talking about but I necessarily wouldn’t go with a when you talk about a set wedge if you’re talking about as part of the irons unless you’re just getting started I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that because at this point you’ve been playing a lot and get a wedge that fits your game you know length Loft lie weight so grind Turf interaction with a wedge is so important and if you can get that and get that and get that going so you have that confidence you can come through and make very very good contact when you make good contact good results happen and you get your spin it sets it does all those things and uh whether or not you’re doing that but yeah you’re you’re correct in thinking that they’re hot I would go with a regular wedge I play from the white te’s Phil uh I I I play from the White T’s I could play up but right now the game is such that I can still play from the front or from the whites now I will say that when Bob and I go out uh Bob and I go out at least one of the courses that we go to if we’re both playing pretty decent we’ll take 16 17 and 18 and we’ll go back to the blues or in most cases they don’t have tips they have blues and or which I guess would be the tips and we’ll go back there and play just to just to show ourselves that you know yes it’s a it it’s work I will say that uh but there’s many times that we walk away with the same scor as if we were playing from the whites uh sometimes not but sometime you know we’ll eek out a par we’ll eek out a bogey uh but it it’s a it’s a different game for sure when you’re grabbing a club or two uh more or uh flying it into the green than you did before you got to really trust your game for that Mighty mole he plays the night Sasquatch 2005 drivers in irons well if you like them and they’re doing good have a day man the Sasquatches were those were a deal man those were a deal in the day Charlie there was probably a few too many Libations during the afternoon rounds for me to know exactly where the ball was coming off the face but you may be right very good H pxg and Costco driver heads are the same well I don’t know I’ve not seen a Costco head so I couldn’t tell you Libations help you swing without fear that’s a fact seems harder to shape shots with the way ball Tech has evolved I see it on The Descent where the ball straightens as it falls out well yeah you you know what with the with the way that they can manipulate the the density of those things or the durometer of the of The Mantel and the different mantel and then the the covers and their thickness and then you get to the you know how many dimples how deep is the dimple is what shapes The dimple I mean there’s a lot to a golf ball and make it and getting it to fit I think what we’re seeing now Matt is a lot of other companies are finding that secret sauce that helps them be competitive he’s asking if that’s true said I Don’t Know Jack Nicholas design Golf Course tends to be dog leg right Jack’s favorite shot was left to right which influenced the course design there you go hey fugal’s back Frugal fixer Spike and golf hey I have Adam’s idea text right from before they were sold there you go maybe 14 years old nice they are pretty hot hollow body hybrid set looking to upgrade really soon really I [Laughter] am well the difference between the the idea text Frugal and what you’re seeing now and what would be considered hybrid irons the hybrid irons even whether they’re Callaway or not Callaway whether they’re Cleveland’s yeah Cleveland’s or Wilson’s is that the sole width on these things will be excruciatingly wide for you the ideas were wide in their own in their own way but not like these they’re like pancake flippers on the bottom now where you go from there to here is there you know find those hollow body irons and you very well may find yourself something that you like here my Cub water six cubic feet of water per minute over the falls of memory serves I would think it better be more than that probably did remind me to stay in the cart while Mama Bear and her two Cubs wandered over to the Fairway there you go saying hello John lamb don’t want to make Mama Bear mad for sure no you do not otherwise you become Dead bear all right lots of cell phones out as the Cub wanted to stop and wrestle quite a bit was one of those moments that puts golf on the back burner absolutely cool all right what are we talking about Frugal was asking me something oh and what two degrees means not sure what the two degrees means guys alrighty so again we I made it all the way to the bottom uh made it made it all the way to the bottom that’s cool uh we going to say congrats to the winner of the RBC Canadian uh Mr McIntyre Scot guy the I believe it was his dad was on the bag and his response was just absolute Priceless uh if you haven’t seen it go look it up I’m sure it’s on uh YouTube everywhere now and do that congratulations to our ladies Open winner right and we’re coming around there’s going to be a lot of golf to be seen so enjoy it uh we will be putting out a video in the middle middle of the week not tomorrow in the middle of the week because uh I’m recovering from the trip and we still have a lot of Club work to go so that’s where we’re at again guys I appreciate it it was fun talking to you catching up with you and we’ll be talking about the Shogun shafts for sure and how they performed hopefully within the week my driver swing will come back and we’ll have more data for you and as always let’s see your scores go low
