all these guys are out playing at like all these different locations across the country across the world wherever mostly across the country and uh they are trying to qualify for a spot in the US Open because they did not get an exemption from the USGA for whatever reason they didn’t win tournament in the PGA Tour they didn’t you know finish in the top side whatever last season at the US Open so this year another year removed from live golfers getting ranking points more of them have to try to qualify for the US Open this year than ever we’ve already had 13 attempt and only Yen o Shakara has qualified so far Sergio qualified as the first alternate from his site so he still has a chance to get into the US Open field for 2024 at Pinehurst but uh that would take like a withdrawal or something um at least one they’ll rank they’ll rank the next in line based on the field strength of their qualifying sits anyway so the qualifying sites this time around we’ll have 18 live golfers across the day trying to play 36 holes to get into the so one third yeah man it’s onethird of the roster which is quite quite a big chunk of live guys um there’s 10 guys in right there are guys who have already qualified yeah I got it Rah Kea Des Shambo mikkelson Smith cam Smith Dustin Johnson Terell Hatton ker Adrian eugeno Shakara right I’m assuming they’re all playing somewhere near Houston because of this week right none of them are playing near Houston uh which is which is awesome because they don’t you know the USGA doesn’t care about where the live site is and so you and these guys are all just as far away from Houston as each other so I don’t think it’s going to make a huge difference it’s probably a comfort thing for them or of course they may have played or you know or or whatever but uh here are where live golfers are playing 36 holes on Monday and then they got a 54 hole tournament this coming weekend in Houston so could be a lot of golf for them uh Matt Jones and David P are playing in California in Maryland you got Mark Lehman Sebastian Munoz Lucas Herbert and Kieran Vincent uh it at on the Duke campus in North Carolina Harold Warner III is going to try to qualify and that the golf club Georgia in Georgia obviously Andy Ogle tree and husin sord are both going to try to so like those are no huge names here so what happened to the rest of the guys who were trying to qualify well they’re all trying to qualify at the Bears Club in Florida in Jupiter Florida Brandon Grace grah McDow Walky nean Charles schwartzel Peter Uline Dean burm anaban leiri Meo Pereira and Cameron tringali imagine yo dude imagine being like the club champ for the Bears Club you got no chance this year wow you had no chance like imagine you were like the Jupiter amateur Champion you’re out yeah you’re done don’t even show up tomorrow I mean today or whenever you guys are listening or saying this that’s terrible to say but um crazy day like we don’t is it though I mean it sounds pretty realistic to me it’s like a live event is a live event a one day 36 whole live event happening in Jupiter Florida we’ll go through one more time because I want to see if you guys think any of these guys will qualify all right Golf Club at Georgia Andy Ogle tree or Hudson swapd no I don’t think so either I like Ogle tree but not playing not playing yeah not playing well enough I mean you have to you have to be in what I’m not sure yeah each each each thing will announce how many spots they have available to them like um the one that Sergio yeah like what what what each I’m sure each each uh each site’s going to be a different standard that they’re going to be going by yeah absolutely especially especially if you if you consider the each one has a different depth of professional golfer that’s trying to wonder the field that that makes the difference or yeah I think strength of field I’m pretty sure yeah I’m pretty sure strength of field because I was when I was looking there’s pretty much a similar number of players like there’s 68 players playing in this Golf Club of Georgia event and then at the Bears Club in Jupiter there’s 73 players which I where I mentioned all those live guys playing you would think that the the Jupiter Club will get more invites than The Georgia Club but I’m not sure how they determin that someone can answer in our comments next year we’ll have that down all right so Ogle tree and Swafford let’s just say based on we’ll say Max three people get in let’s just say that Harold Varner playing against who knows who I don’t know man he’s so hit or miss I don’t think so yeah I’m out on Harold Barner as well I feel like this is most gonna be the most Anti show we’ve ever done s like PGA T fans here uh California Matt Jones and David poo poie might he might I mean like like I said it’s it’s so hard to say like I mean correct me if I’m wrong but there are also like other golf professionals that are at these places trying to make it too right sure you know yeah they definitely are anybody that doesn’t automatically have a bid in can I don’t know what I don’t know what the qualifications are how it works but you could try to get a play in um the next top guy who you may recognize in this field is uh Barkley Brown played the US Open last year St went to Stanford there’s like there’s not a lot of it doesn’t seem like like I’m looking at a a list of names and none of these names jump off the list at me for that event does that change your mind that change your mind all about yeah I agree if there’s a guy so far that we named that’s going to get in it’s it’s first of all I think any of the names you’re throwing out there can win but you’re asking if we think they will or not right okay uh in Maryland so the max of these guys would just say is three Lehman Munos Herbert and Kieran Vincent lean absolutely you know it’s my Ripper that’s my guy he’s a professional of all professionals he he could definitely definitely get SP I’m calling that you’re going you’re going to guarantee Lehman get it’s in I’m guaranteeing Le is in what are the terms yeah box of balls what we got you still owe me a box of balls Kevin Chapel Kevin Chapel’s gonna be in there uh I never gave you the wolf PS no you never gave me the Matt wolf all right I’ll send them yeah okay they’re in they’re in the they’re in the eclipse they’re in the mail they’re in the eclipse they’re on on Myers uh all right so then the Bears Club FS get in right no one’s playing better than him no one’s playing better jao should get in yeah should should get in if he plays 80% he’ll get in in a play agree with that for sure um Grace has been terrible this year schwarzel been off but gr mcdal hit her miss me pereira’s been ter I Schwarz I think I think Schwarz will get in oh wow interesting doesn’t matter how bad he’s playing right now I think he’ll get in yeah see I love Meo but he’s playing he’s playing too bad leir’s not played well really this year either so i’ like I like both those guys though I think one of those two one have have one good day and you’re in they’re all capable I know I know it’s only 1 and six I don’t mean one physically good day I mean a good weekend also at the Bears Club is uh Luke Donald captain of the European Rider team is gonna try to qualify Matt coocher going in to try to qualify there also uh Patrick Rogers who’s a regular on the PGA tour so they that’s a stacked ass location for sure it’s going to be hard that’s the hardest place to get in that I’ve seen thus far so if Jo and if jao and Deanie get in I think we’ll be super excited for those two guys those are the guys we want those are the guys we wanted because those the guys who can make noise at the top of the US Open lead board the other guys can hang around maybe on a US Open course but those are the guys who can truly like they hit it a mile they hit a lot of greens and when their poter gets hot they win and when their poter gets hot they’re they’re the best players out there so

  1. About to fly to a usga qualifier for my girls. We try for 4-5 of their events a year. They both made it to one championship so far. They usually provide the number of qualifiers on the first tee and it’s always a pretty small number.

It is interesting 54 holes is supposedly not enough but the use 36 hole events to qualify for the US Open—the most grueling event in golf— is appropriate.

A lot of LIv guys have a chance. But most of those no names you see on the list can catch lightning in a bottle. Many are up and coming studs we just don’t know yet.
    So it’s not easy.
I personally like the qualifier system and wish they had less automatic qualifiers through the owgr; especially in this era where the owgr is not providing a true top 50.
But they are actually moving to using the ranks more at all levels, which benefits pga tour and rich amateurs who can travel to play more ajga events and what not.

I really like whan championships start at grass roots local levels, giving everyone a chance to try.
