Three birdies and two bogeys resulted in a 1-under round of 69 for Corey Conners in the first round at the RBC Canadian Open. He joins Bob Weeks to discuss his day at Hamilton Golf and Country Club and how he plans to attack things in round 2.
all right Cory a solid round out there on a what’s proving to be sort of a pretty difficult day for a lot of players how did you find the golf course yeah I found the golf course played great um you know it was in great shape um you know started to firm up a little bit still fairly soft but uh you know the coures dried out from from all the rain earlier in the week and um thought the course played great um they had some really tricky pin locations out there today where um couldn’t really get too greedy uh most of the time but um yeah it was a it was a great test today and um had to definely be uh be patient out there and uh wait for your opportunities we saw the conditions pretty soft at the start of the day I don’t know how it did it change throughout as the sun came out and started to bake things a bit I’d say a little bit and I think that’s going to continue over the next few days and should shape up to be a you know a great weekend um I think the course will be playing awesome the rest of the way as well um definitely uh yeah got a few more bounces forward out there um throughout the day is this a course where the the opportunities may be few and far between so you have to take advantage of the when they do arise did you feel that today yeah definitely and you know felt like I did take advantage of the few opportunities I had um you know wasn’t uh wasn’t playing you know my my best uh wasn’t hitting the ball off the te like I would have liked but um yeah it was able to take advantage of some opportunities and that is definitely very important on this golf course game plann for tomorrow yeah just try and hit a few more Fairways get myself uh you know better chances to uh hit some good iron shots into the greens I felt like I hit my irons quite well today and was putting well so uh get the ball in the Fairway a little better and then uh yeah try and take advantage of uh more opportunities good luck on Friday thank you
