Featherie, a line of sustainable and functional golf wear for girls, fills a void in the market, catering to the increasing number of female junior golfers.
with the number of female Junior golfers Rising each year it’s hard to imagine why no one was designing specifically for this demo well one teen decided to change that feathery is a line of golf Weare for girls it’s sustainable functional and unapologetically feminine the company’s founder 14-year-old cake corn gold stopped by cheddar Studios to talk to us about her inspiration behind the brand take a look well I’ve always been frustrated with the lack of clothing options that were made for teen girl golfers and I was especially frustrated that there were no golf pants made for teen girl golfers and so what does your line bring to the table so we have six pieces and I’ve created a lot a line that girls can feel comfortable in on the course um and that girls can wear confidently and know that there’s something out there for them we have some of the items behind us walk us through your favorites yeah so my favorite piece in the collection is our jacket because the sleeves zip off into a vest so we have a hidden zipper in the back that um let the sleeve zip off and you can put them in a pocket on the inside so if you have an early tea time um and it’s cold in the morning but it gets warmer in the afternoon you can just zip them off and have good weather I like that what’s the price on that one so this one is $189 okay and that goes with well with what else are there some pants we can see here yeah so here are our pants very nice they come in two colors white and navy uh um they’ve got tea holders in the back for your teas so that they don’t stick into you while you’re swinging clever um stripes down the side to give it a feminine look um and it adds more color um and they’re poleon pants so they’re super easy to put on super comfortable and great for the course what’s it like being the founder of a company at the age of 14 it’s really cool um I didn’t think I would be doing this um a couple years ago um but it’s been really cool to see how to put together a company how much work is behind the scenes of all these all these clothing companies so yeah it’s just been really cool to see how much is golf a a part of your life right now it’s a big part of my life um I own a clothing company but I also play over the weekends and during the week um and I’m hoping to probably play in college and so it’s been a big part of my life cuz I really love it how do you want to grow the company um well we’re hoping that of course we get more sales um we’re going to put out a couple new collections but we also want to grow the message and get the message across that girls matter and girls matter especially in golf and that we should get a seat at the table so we see some of the great designs do you have a hand in the designs yeah I do I designed everything okay very cool what about the functionality of them from ease of wear to even UV protection right if you’re golfing you’re outside in in the hot weather a lot yeah so I put a lot of thought and effort into all my pieces um so all my pieces use recycled Fabrics they are all upf50 and all um harmful chemical free and then I’ve also uh thought of little details to put in each of my pieces so as I showed you before I’ve got the tea holders on the back of the pants I have the zip off sleeves on the skirt on here I have te- holders here too um I made the back of the polo and the sleeveless long enough so that when you bend down to get your ball it doesn’t rise up your back um on the sleeveless I’ve made my zippers auto lock so they only pull up when they’re facing up so that they don’t come down when you’re swinging I’ve just put a lot of thought and effort into the little details that make it the best clothing that they can be I think it’s great that you are the market for what you’re trying to sell and so what do you think is the market opportunity what do your friends tell you in terms of what they want to wear on the course yeah I mean we’ve got a really positive response and people are really liking the clothes so far um when I was designing it I took some advice from my friends and from Pros my teachers um so they’ve all it all came together and I’ve put these six pieces out people are really liking them and yeah the golf industry is really happy how do people get them uh feather. comom and they can find our Instagram and Tik Tok at feathery golf how important is social media to what you’re trying to sell it’s really big because in my generation especially um everyone is on social media that’s where I find most of my clothes I mean everything spreads on that so it’s an important part of our company cuz that’s how we’re going to get our word out interesting now in terms of your own goals with golf you mentioned that you want to play in college any other aspirations that you want to meet um I would like to play in college um maybe go pro once um maybe um and I just really want to grow this company and make it bigger is there anyone that you look up to in the golf industry there are a ton of people um I really admire my golf teacher um I admire other companies that are big um I admire a lot of the pros um Nelly Corda rang they a lot of people that I really admire you’re a busy gal between School playing golf playing tennis and your apparel line how much time do you spend working on this every week yeah I spend a lot of time on this I go to school during the day and then after school I’ll take calls usually 2 or three um and now we’re trying to design a new collection so I’ve been trying to sketch down ideas and um put down some of and over the weekend I’ll play golf but then I’ll also do some more work on feathery so it’s been a big time commitment but it’s been really worth it
