quiet please this is match number three a forsome match between the European team represented by Lee Westwood and Matt [Music] [Applause] Fitzpatrick against the United States of America team represented by Brooks kka and Daniel [Music] [Applause] berer first on the te representing Europe Lee Westwood playing in his 11th ride a cup so matching the European record set by sck falo he struggled a little bit of late he was really looking forward to this and then Wentworth a bit of a Wentworth was a bit of tough week for him for the BMW PJ championship in the United States of America Daniel recogniz him doing that of the more outgoing characters in The American team room no doubt about that making his debut has played with Brooks capka before in a partnership in the president cup they weren’t successful on that occasion the repere comes from a sporting family his dad Jay was a top tennis player one point was in the top 10 in the uh tennis ranking so uh a lot of competitive spirit in that family back to the first this is Brooks kka that just release a little bit coming out of that first cut rough and as Billy kower was telling us it’s wet so it’s going to be tough to get purchase as Fitzpatrick pitches from the Fairway huge difference right there lovely shot there from mat Patrick early chance here for Daniel berer for birdie at the first similar putt to what Thomas had just downhill a little bit of break from the right good opportunity but the Europeans are in there closer just a little bit too Pacey for the line he chose there’s not a lot of break there and as Anthony said there’s a little bit of do on the green so they’re going to be slower and not break as much four five ft here for Lee westw maybe not the distance he would have wanted on the first screen but out of that it’s one of the hardest parts you’ll ever have the first green in a c just everything is going and really difficult to just settle into it his Patrick on the second T Pacey goal swing yeah he has a tendency of doing that when he gets a little bit too quick from the top and he turns it over quickly Capa as our good friend down in South Africa Dennis Hutchinson used to say that was slightly straight well he certainly has a great personality for for Ryder Brooks kopka that’s for sure that Fitzpatrick trying to tuck this in tight at the second yeah coming out of the rough it’s tough to have good distance control and that’s going to be an awkward one left for Westwood Brooks kka third shot for the United States here at the par five yeah this is not looking too great for Brooks he got a good contact on that that’s going to be good excellent shot we didn’t see the second shot from burger after a perfect t- shot from Keva and uh good result from a bad position burer to win the second for the United States he and capka one up Westwood and Fitzpatrick Burger looks amazingly calm out there probably on the outside he’s been looking forward to this for for a while he’s he really is excited about it as we go out to the third hle and Daniel berer 90 y but does play downhill when helping from the right this is not the best one just good luck there very good fortune there take a bounds on and then it’s in real trouble and now good chance for birdie can’t believe that end up off left of the flag but how five right it was yeah with an uphill putt to come for kka go to Westwood at three Lee Westwood he going into the heart of the green this is going to be good he’s going to come off that [Music] slope he’s going to keep going Tri down to 10 12 ft and if Lee Westwood can keep leaving these kind of pots for Matt Fitzpatrick then they’re going to be dangerous birdie f for Brooks kka at the [Music] third do we think he’s going to smile this week not sure excellent pop from Brooks cup cut so Fitzpatrick to tie the hole oh that’s a big turnaround right there it’s Patrick in my mind one of the best Putters in the world what watch Lee Westwood on the fourth if going to make a noise with that tripod every shot go and watch it on the match will you I think Billy Foster made his a clear opinion what he thought about that guy there the players a bit on edge and that makes the Cades on edge burger with an awkward one here at the fourth reasonable live you can see the stance was compromised be well below the level of the Green in the long Stuff books is going to need all his power here we’re going to see a few of those this week when you’re off off the Fairway you can get a really good lie and then there’s some really thick stuff around this is tricky don’t get all the way down in your knees lay that blade open with low hands and throw it up in the air probably thinking he’s got a hole at Daniel burer good [Applause] shot two parts to win the hole for the Europeans Fitzpatrick and Westwood and that does the job remember four SS this morning four balls this afternoon same again tomorrow and then the Sunday singles as we head to five the par five and Lee Westwood water down the right here par five that kind of swings left to right and then back right to left to get up to the green it’s liking it Le they’re not the longest these two so they they going to be two really big ones to get there into back on the team Burger he finds the Fairway also we’re going to change things up in the commentary box because Thomas pjn is going to be joined by a fellow Ryder Cup player Nicholas Kart back to the first part five the second part five I should say the fifth known as snake kepka second shot that’s going to be something coming high and soft from kubka got a funny bounce just off the water there little unlucky they could have found a back Edge on the green and leave a much easier third for his partner the only thing you try to avoid there is finding the water like we’ve seen a couple of groups ago so half of the mission done and there is plenty of it here at the fifth Patrick’s problem here is that he he doesn’t flight the ball as high as most of them going to try and help it up in the air and just get out of it tricky one for Lee West with that one yellow cheese head amongst all that red white and blue they love the sports up here green B Packers then Burger third shot excellently executed that short one for birdie now B right Brook keer to win that hole could it be too nearly at the same time and it goes for Dustin Johnson at six and right on Q ker in just a whole further [Applause] back and that moves burer and kka to two up in their match Copa on six just with the iron for safety and get it in the Fairway curious to see that end up just in that left rough if if the wind switches around if the pins on the left where the people will go for it there’s so much variety it’s patri six a little Fairway medal finds the Fairway nicely so perhaps a chance for the Europeans to tie that hole after all with a put to come kka he’s third at the six that’s well out from that trap on the left basically the only side of the green where you can get it up and down from so they’re in for their four this part to win the hole for Fitzpatrick and they have that margin nicely done likes to leave the flag stick in the hall Fitzpatrick use it as a backboard Le Westwood now to play at the seventh 221 yards oh yeah down that’s how you do it in for stick it in the green put the pressure on the other team n steady Westwood really he’s always been super successful teer green well you had him as a partner in Madina in your first Rider cup that was a pretty nice partner to have four balls I didn’t need him came in once and uh took down a pretty decent pairing in the Americans Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker yeah very fun memories yeah those two weren’t bad were they so safely on the green for the European burer his turn [Music] now oh that’s lucky oh that was going in real big trouble and then a big bounce off the side of the green there turn out all right now it’s two big uh bounces from Burger on the two power 3es on the front already Patrick birie on the seventh there’s another one of these European pairings where there’s weakness in it that’s the one there Fitzpatrick do not want to leave too many of those for Lee Westwood play for the comfort zones Kea for the win very nearly a two up lead not quite for the Americans [Applause] Westwood excellent [Applause] excellent Fitzpatrick driver in hand at the eight excellent jots of paces swing and and people get a little bit surprised sometimes with Matt but you know he just got the Pacey swing he’s always had it it looked a little bit out of sink but it isn’t you know that’s the pace he swings that that’s the way he plays he actually feels that if he goes slower he loses a lot of distance he has to be quick on the back swing to kind of load the the shaft and the power um so we all do it differently can’t see much of this Fairway either can you common theme around this golf course onys one is slightly left just hang on it’s okay that’s why why he goes with a three-wood so the fair becomes a little bit wider he can go more up the left hand side and be short of those bunkers that are up there he likes a bit of left to right so expect this to come from the left something maybe a little low chasing it up there tell that was a six iron on screen and chose the right one he likes to squeeze left to right Burger so it’s always going to be pretty efficient into left or right wind Lee Westwood sets up perfect for him it really does just a tiny little breeze off the left he’s kind of floated it up as he does with that flight of his let it drop down to the flag it’s going to start on the TV tower you see there and it’s dropping towards the flag go EX shot from Lee [Applause] Westbook dot your eyes cross your teas that was to wiing the hole for Fitzpatrick not that time [Applause] round down with the second shots at the ninth hole if it’s Patrick to play first Fitzpatrick’s going to love this back right flag with a little bit of left to right win this is Matt Fitzpatrick territory Beauty as you hear Le West commenting and says beauty that one kein out the ninth looks like it’s staying left a little bit just sped it a fraction would also like this flag him he likes a bit left or right burger for birdie at nine Europeans still have a birdie putt to [Music] come and he has run that well past the hole but he’s leaning on a pretty strong partner kep as a good hole outer as we go back to nine Westwoods birdie put probably a little bit of right to left for Westwood on the this a little bit down the hill so most players come from that side of the hall this will be a a nice one to make and head over to the back nine in a tight game to win the hole everybody seemed to have missed that on the high side looks back to the jury this is every bit of half maybe even 5 ft pretty straightforward putt it didn’t have much movement when it was passing the hole anything just a little bit of right to left think if there’s anybody on the US team you want to putt to make a putt of this nature ke is going to be at or near the top of your list commentator Jinx of course that is a surprising Miss keep him coming Jay please four the match is [Applause] tied Fitzpatrick at 10 only playing for position the way Wood by the way the dinner conversations amongst the commentators are pretty young pretty good and [Music] FY second shot there at 10 for Lay Westwood one of the longest shots we’ve seen into 10 today so the only one that’s been able to actually bring this ball back with a bit of spin Europe with a birdie put to come this is second for burger at 10 can they get inside it I’m actually surprised that these guys have gone really that close to the to the hole and make sure cuz you have to make sure you find that up slope near that bunker to access that pin ke get 10 for biry writes the wrong from the ninth HS from a similar distance so Europe missed there so that was to win the Hal for Brooks cap cup and Daniel Burger there at 10 go to 11 Fitzpatrick slightly off the down slope second shot one of the closest shots we’ve seen on 11 this morning ke can’t see the playing surface o the spin look at this really great shot from the four-time major Champion recently said that he feels like he can overtake Tigers number at 15 which is Big [Applause] call chance now for Daniel burer to win the hole at 11 and they go to two you talk about changes in momentum and right now the ti is going the way of the Red White and Blue to Caper at 12 seen a few shots on 12 really close onto that tight little part of the green just a couple of Paces too far but a really good shot very very tiny part about six seven Paces wide let’s see what Fitz Patrick can do this will be a great time for a good iron shot he’s asking it to go good yeah that’s perfect high well they’re spending quite a bit of time over this one yeah we can hear the conversation betweener and his caddy trying to find the right read seem to have something to aim at in the way there in all Hall you can see there’s a bit of a darker but on the screen screen there were talking about hitting the edge of that meanwhile over at the 14th top left hand corner Justin Thomas for the par and to tie that hole we got it online to start with Daniel Burger meanwhile Westwood to win the 12th now this will be a great one to make cuz second game looks like it’s slightly swinging into the US Direction so to get this game back just one down Westwood oh dear God that would have been a nice one the US stays two up you can see how much he wanted to hold that right across the edge of the hole as well from Westwood USA driver for burger here at the 13th go baby Harrington would be feeling like yeah I’m going to lose a session you know in or out of cup you’re going to lose a session it was very unlikely you’re going to be no a session and losing a session 3-1 is no disaster losing it 4-0 is a big disaster that’s a long way back from 3-1 is not what you want but it’s okay Westwood goes for the fairway wood he going to leave probably something a little bit longer than for Fitzpatrick no doubt straight down the middle it’s never really changed that cold swing it looked like that in 1997 when he played with Nick falo still looks the same it’s just only a little bit older 48 now Lee Westwood that’s an impressive age to make a ride of cop team M mat F Patrick on 13 having a great look at the flag stick here a good bit back he went with a fairywood off the off the tea oh dear that’s the danger when you lay back and you’re hitting downhill it becomes more and more you defer you get away from the green it gets more and more difficult to control your distances on a downhill shot cap cup see here different swing driving it lower more control of the ball of course a lot shorter shot in [Applause] but remember Matt Fitzpatrick overshot the green here Lee Westwood Chi to there and what a PO that is from Fitzpatrick he makes the par USA mind you still have a good look at birdie there this is it Daniel Burger to win the hole and to go free up never give up never ever give up that’s an unbelievable tie of hole for the Europeans USA is two Brooks C on the 14th using the driver straight down the middle short next one on this 14th hle wind I would have liked to know what they were laughing about I’m not sure you do that Fitzpatrick straight to that TV tower you see in the middle of your screen that’s where you’re going no problems good shot from Matt Patrick he’s keing to make amends isn’t he he didn’t have a very good Rider cup debut at Hazel team mind you he was very early in his professional career there and he says he feels so much more ready now kka to win this hole to take he and berer three up the West to tie is another one of those on back now lovely very very nice from the Westwood USA to win the hole for Westwood at 15 well they could have used that it’s going to be a little bit coming back as well huge putt right here for Matthew Fitzpatrick to tie the hole that cannot afford to go three down with three to play I mean if they have any chance of trying to dig something out at this point a half point would be huge good putt I mean he hasn’t putted great today and he in my mind he’s one of the best Putters in the world but uh that one was a well Ed make well it’s got to be a better light than it looks from here or is he just trying and Chase one up the right I might have thought that I can’t really get an iron at it I’m just going to chase it up the right that’s what he’s done Chase it up the right hand side with a wood to 16 Burger second shot at the par five outright wow iron to the green that was just where did that shot come from that’s we saw John Ramen a similar position in two and didn’t even get it on the green very difficult position that burger has left kka up to 16 with Fitzpatrick and they third and he really needs to knock this in there close there behind two down with three to play wonderful wedge player americ not in a great position short right of the green awkward that was not a bit Patrick like wed shot right on line but not good distance control at all this a tough one for Brooks cup G to land this just short of the green but it’s got to get that forward bound he has done too much of one little bit of a disappointing gol for part five from these world class players [Applause] happens if you’re a European fan it’s a good time for Lee Westwood to make one for birdie here [Applause] as we go to Burger 16 to win the [Applause] match good effort huge shot for Burger ideally the way the green sets up in that mound just to the right of the hole that kicked the t- shot of the Americans over where they lost in the top game he hit it a little bit past the hole takes that out of play this is another Wicked iron shot from burer I mean wow that’s a poor goal shot it really is a poor goal shot because goal shot doesn’t match the hole and it doesn’t matter you know how you hit the GOL ball what kind of shot you have to stand up and hit the shot that matches the hole you can’t just say oh well this is the way I hit it on a hole like this you have to to try and hit the goal shot that you can use that’s that’s just not a a shot that fits anything you said that straight away you have to hit the ball in the air and he went low that’s you know there three PJ championships being played here and certainly all the American Vice captains and all the European Vice captains have played in those PJ they know what this hole is like that’s surely a conversation you have during the week well this hole you just have to stand up and lighted into the middle of the green this guy will know that so that’s what he’ll be trying to do he might not succeed but he’ll certainly try to do it he’s come out of it a little bit here lewood is going right as well it’s not much better that’s in a worse position he has a worse angle it’s only six to 8 ft but that’s a huge difference in angle right there for that shot coming over a little bit of the mound e [Music] slightly less Wicked angle here for Brooks capka and a much better lie as well not as awkward plenty of green to work with here just going to try and slip the club underneath and let the slope feed it down to the hole a little bit wide right there not a great shot from the four-time major Champion just popped out straight right on him for some reason so this is to win the match for Daniel burer and Brooks Capt cup similar putt to what he had to win the match the previous little left to right slider wow he didn’t even come close to reading that correctly no you really didn’t and and and that surprises me I mean you got everything telling you you got the hill you got the the whole green is sloping that way and then you got the water on the uh from the right from him from that ping why would he think that that pot broke black yeah the Europeans have a putt to win the hole this is a huge putt right here I mean if these guys could somehow dig out half a point it would be it it would take me back to the the polter finish at Madina on the Saturday that just energized the team to win the hole and go to the final hole the half here and the Americans will win a really good effort right there just hit it through the break a little bit not going to say the match is over because nothing has really been conceeded here they’re they look like they’re about equidistant but there’s going to be some putting going on here so this putt for kka to win the match should in theory they’re far more straightforward equation and he makes no mistake so it’s 3-1 Americans I think it’s one thing when you were 3-1 down in Paris home game a little bit different here I think especially with the lack of European support due to the pandemic to watch another Ridder Cup video click here and subscribe here
