PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray has passed away at age 30 | He spoke about his low points in life at the Sony Open back in January 2024 the day before he ended up winning his second career PGA Tour title in a playoff.

you know I’ve been out here my rookie year was 2017 and uh I was young and thought I was invincible and um W doing the correct stuff off the course to uh to to really give myself the best chance to succeed out here and um over the years I’ve uh you know I I I’ve kind of given in I’ve given in a few times and then um you know right when I give try to give up it’s like uh you know someone gives me a little more inspiration saying hey you got it you can do it and uh those are just the people that are close to me that I uh really lean on in hard times and um you know I just got to keep pushing through that’s the only way I know how what was the low point that got you going in the right direction this time yeah I mean I think there were multiple low points um my scooter accident in Bermuda was really a low point in my life and um you know I’ve obviously been vocal about the alcohol use in the past and um you know I’m over 8 months so now and um I have a beautiful fiance that I love so much and who’s so supportive of me and my parents are so supportive of me and uh my caddy J is uh just one of my biggest cheerleaders and um it just makes everything so easy when I get out here inside the ropes um when all when everyone is just in my circle just really pulling for me and um and and you know they’re they’re they’re right there with me when uh I do have those hard days and I still have hard days but um I feel a lot more at peace inside the reps now

  1. My dad just said pros have it the worst because they’re by themselves most of the time. Regardless of what the reason was. Prayers to the youth of the game

  2. Like payne stewart, taken way too young and like payne, was a douchebag that turned their lives around but unfortuantely we dont get to see the good part

  3. Here's the scoop, for those who don't know. Grayson Murray has always been a terribly troubled and volatile personality, often berating others, picking fights on the Internet, and generally being about as unpleasant as a professional athlete has ever been. His golf talent is apparent, but his demons are the main story. Now, some will say it is an addiction to alcohol, but in reality, he was always uncomfortable in his skin, prone to fits of rage and general meanness. Of course, with a manic mind, these types will often have bouts of good behavior, as well. It is likely that his recent success, winning a PGA event about five months ago, and also becoming engaged to a stunning woman, made him realize that he can never be truly happy. That has to be a desperate feeling (Oscar Pistorius has entered the chat….killed girlfriend a few months after the Olympics…no more mountains to climb…knows he will forever be unhappy….boom!). If Grayson doesn't make that 40 footer to win the Sony Open, Grayson would still be alive.

He is rumored to have been berating his fiance in public just weeks ago, while also burning bridges in the Raleigh North Carolina area, saying vicious things about people. His fiance had enough, moved back to California, and Grayson Murray started drinking again about a month ago. He walked off the course yesterday during the round, and ended his life. If there was one guy on tour whom everyone would predict would meet an end exactly like this, it would be Grayson Murray. I'm not sure it is best when those in the limelight talk about demons, or quitting addictions. It puts added pressure on them. Often times, they relapse, but do not tell anyone, and then they get into impossible psychological situations where everyone is constantly offering them praise for quitting their addiction, when in reality they have relapsed. They end up living a lie, and also battling demons in private. His fiance was stunning (I'd like to buy her a bean burrito then suck the pherts out of her bummy). When she left him (like she should have), he went off the rails. Rest in Peace Grayson.

  5. Its hard when someone is trying to courageously turn their life around, then suddenly they are gone. My prayers to his family and friends.

  6. Is he expected to pass away again or is expected to stay with that person or plot of land that he passed away from. Who or what did he pass away from and how far did he go. Did he disappear?
Could people use terms that at least make sense.I realize death is scary and never fun when someone you care about dies… but at least have the decency to call it what it is.

  7. I was pulling for you Grayson, had been playing so well this year and especially of late…so sorry to hear this 😔

  8. R.I.P. Grayson Murray, a good guy that was gone way too soon. Rest easy brother, your struggles are over.💔

  9. I am a senior citizen now and have been through several low points in my life, some that made me wonder why keep living. I can tell you one of the most valuable things that I learned looking back is that you can and will overcome any demons that develop throughout your life. You just need to move forward making the small fixes in your life that help to correct whatever may have been causing the problems, whether it's sobriety, new job, new place to live, new relationship, etc. Beat life and you will be smiling in the end, I promise you.

  10. Comments here are exactly wjats wrong with society. Either some self absorbed comment about how you struggle or fake love for a guy you never gave 2 shits about. Social media is sick.
