Thought I’d share this project with the group. Was looking for a way to hit balls in my garage, but still be able to pull my truck in. I came up with with a way to use a ceiling track system from Rockler. I mounted some 1×4 wood to a ceiling-mounted storage system I already had. Then, installed the track system to the wood. They sell accessories for their track system including sliding hooks. Bought a hitting net off amazon and hung it from the hooks.
When I want to use the net, I just pull it out and throw down my mat (I have a fiber built)
I also installed a iPad mount on my wall so I can get the most out of my MLM 2 monitor.
Overall, the setup works great. It takes me like 2-3 mins to go from truck in the garage to hitting balls.
I highly recommend the Rockler system, Haven’t seen it used in a golf sim application before, but it works great!

Thank you for this.

If you hit a very low shot it doesn’t go under the net and into those cabinets?
Also, why do you hit the ball with your feet on the floor when you have a nice mat?
The second question is a joke.

Looks great. Very jealous. Care to share the link to the net you bought on Amazon?

This is perfect! Almost exactly what I’m going to build this winter. I have something a bit more ghetto at the moment but my kid is growing into the sport and I need the retractable sides. I might do a screen on the front though but still retractable.
My goal is to have more of a “bay” than you with longer sides on both. My garage is very similar to yours with the work bench behind the sim. My goal to put it away is similar to yours but it won’t fit as neat in the corner but more just flush along the side wall. I’m curious how the track holds up!

Do you feel this track system would support the weight of a simulator screen instead of just a net? Posted a similar idea with different track system and got pointed towards the retractable screens instead due to (supposed) weight. This is my first built so seeking any info possible!

I’ve been inspired. My wife is going to be so pumped.

Do you have any problem with the golf balls coming down on the ground too hard? Was thinking about doing a similar net setup but was wondering if I needed to get gym tiles for underneath the net.

What kind of spacing do you need for the simulator to register the balls? Thanks nice setup

Thanks for posting this!
I use a gosports 7.5 x 7.5 net in my garage but, I have overhead storage. The net has bars that go back for stabilization and it hits the overhead storage. I wish my net was like 6” shorter so I could push it back 2-3 feet. I wonder if I can install this type of set up and clear a ton of space from the current net.

Nice setup! How much space do you have for ball flight and how far back do you have the mlm 2 set up?
I’m tempted to start with something like this instead of going all in on retractable screens and a projector.

Not too short?

Where do you put the turf when you’re not using it? Love the build.
