is the Ridder cup the best event in sports oh for sure I’m obviously biased golf is my number one sport it’s the number one sport I love playing you know probably one of the top sports I love watching yeah but as far as like yeah those big tournaments you’ve got the majors and then you’ve got the Ryder Cup the President’s Cup The Walker cup all those are so cool when you put on the colors of your country and you compete to win and bring home a world championship I mean what’s cooler than that so they played at Marco Simon there in Rome didn’t go the US way um there A lot can be said we’ll kind of we can get into that a little bit with Zack Johnson as the captain his Captain’s picks who qualified how it went what do you have to say about uh you know as like a as a a fan of golf yeah what do you what do you have to say about like Zack Johnson and his decision to to pick Justin Thomas [Applause] there audio jle what’s up people welcome back to St Pete dudes thank you for all the growth first and foremost the past couple of weeks it’s awesome to see a lot of hard work putting these episodes out but it’s one of the most fun things we do every week so if you could like And subscribe real quick um but we’re here talking about a Newport to this channel essentially we got golf we dropped one golf episode um and people were yeah people were digging it but we’re here to follow up on something we mentioned before and that is the full swing documentary series which we spoke about um if you haven’t seen it it’s in in the umbrella of the drive to survive all of the great Netflix series coming out right now which as someone who does video production for a living um I’m absolutely floored by in the amount of episodes uh or series that have gotten me to love some sport that I I wasn’t even into is is crazy but I’ve always had a heart for golf and I want to talk a little bit with Jared about what makes this series so awesome yeah so no it’s it’s sick to see this behind the scenes right so these are your favorite golfers you grow up watch watching them you grow up hating them whatever it is especially in the age of social media now you can see so many things about their personal lives you know they’re putting stuff on their stories about their wife their kids where they live what they do but now you get a behind the scenes look at like Hey we’re learning about new guys like a Tom Kim we’re getting more in depth with a Rory maroy you’re hearing about a guy you’ve probably never heard of and Joel Damon I mean you have all of these great Personalities in golf and I think it’s just really cool neat to see that come to life here in a in a series like full swing yeah anytime you get to see behind the life of these athletes or anyone it’s always so cool just to get the Insight but the craziest thing about golf to me is how much money is in golf it is it’s just stupid and these people are on PJs all the time um the amount of money they win if they win even like The Travelers Championship which I know is still a big tournament but it’s not a major you know it’s unbelievable to to see this um and second for you know this show the production level is just incredible I mean the interviews they’re getting the footage uh Tom Kim riding around on his little like thing the cooler yeah the b-roll is absolutely amazing so uh if you haven’t checked out this show you you’re missing out two seasons have dropped they cover different golfers in every episode there are some repeat in the second season but it’s phenomenal and one of the coolest thing about it is it it walks you through every season and you get to discover components of the Season that you you never really knew and understood and one of those for me that was incredible to see was the Ryder Cup unfold seeing the people want to get on on this tournament what goes into it and just like the Rivalry between Team USA and Team Europe and after watching it I’m here to ask you a question is is the Ridder cup the best event in sports oh for sure I’m obviously biased golf is my number one sport it’s number one sport I love playing one of the you know probably one of the top sports I love watching yeah but as far as like yeah those big tournaments you’ve got the majors and then you’ve got the Ryder Cup the President’s Cup The Walker cup all those are so cool when you put on the colors of your country and you compete to win and bring home a world championship I mean what’s cooler than that so they played at Marco Simone there in Rome didn’t go the US way um there lot can be said we kind of we can get into that a little bit with Zack Johnson as the captain his Captain’s picks who qualified how it went what do you have to say about uh you know as like a as a a fan of golf yeah what do you what do you have to say about like Zack Johnson and his decision to to pick Justin Thomas there yeah clearly that was a very controversial call did he deserve to be on it or is Keegan Bradley he was the one that was kind of at the cusp I think that his case was very well warranted he was actually higher up on that ranking you know there there’s six people that make it based off of their performance and you have six Captain’s picks um I think JT when you look back he really is and like the show said like the lifeline for Team USA he him and Jordan spe I mean they just bring it they embody the culture we need um but I did feel a little bad for Keegan Bradley watching him I will have to say nothing but the utmost respect to him after not getting the call and still sitting there watching the show or sorry the tournament repping his his former Rider cup hat with his wife um with his kids with with just the best on St cheering it on that’s the type of man I would like to be in my life and it’s just cool seeing that um I mean yeah he’s still sitting that in Jupiter with his $50 million house so you know he’s got it going on but you still saw how difficult it was but I long and short of it I think that JT was the right call and I think that that manifested itself when you saw his performance in the tournament he did a really good job in my opinion um it just went the Europeans way and it’s crazy to say that because when you look at the the teams a little bit David vers Goliath you know like the the European team had some strong leaders on it John ROM and then you have Rory and some other great people but then and that the captain’s picks part of it it was a lot of like people we hadn’t heard of I cannot freaking stand Zack Johnson to me he is such a weenie right like he’s he’s the guy that you stuff in a locker you know when growing up he is such a weirdo he is the consument oh you know don’t be mean to me you see him now after the Ryder Cup he’s yelling at fans let’s talk about most recently at the Masters he had a bad hole he got a triple bogey as soon as he put in for his triple bogey he goes to grab it and they like the fans kind of like cheer for his triple bogey and then he like looks at the fans and says [ __ ] off and then afterwards he’s asked by the reporters about he’s like I don’t know what you’re saying I didn’t say that you know he’s just he’s such a loser and to have that kind of person leading your country and leading the picks we were doomed to fail I don’t want him ever touching the Ridder cup ever again I think he is an idiot uh I don’t think he’s a good leader of men he decided not to put Brooks Kea out there early um that was a decision I didn’t like um I didn’t really like his pick of Sam Burns to be honest um I would have rather have seen a Keegan Bradley in there instead of a Sam Burns um you had great players coming in Max hom was incredible there he’s going to be one that I’m really going to love here going uh going forward I am a homosexual I will say that on the Pod hey that’s my first time hearing it this this is how I know you’re not chronically online like I am that’s a very common very very common term for maxom but you have really really great players that are going to be up and coming and you want to keep that standard going forward you’re going to have Justin Thomas for years to come you’re going to have the Jordan spe for years to come now maxom morwa didn’t play great it just wasn’t it just wasn’t their week and then you had the powerhouses there on team Europe Rah hland who won the FedEx Cup last year uh Rory and then you’ve got the guys who were just so good during the ryer cup Shane Lowry is incredible Justin Rose he was making me mad though Shane Lowry but that’s the coolest thing about the freaking Ryder Cup I don’t even like I hated him in the moment moment but you respect it on the green whenever you know you have the Hat Gate with Patrick kley and you have jool laaba over there like and talk about icing your veins with Patrick kley oh dude I I cannot stand Patrick kley because of his slow play but he’s playing for Team USA that’s my my guy let’s piss off Europe right yeah that’s just how it is it gets the blood flowing with the Ridder cup that’s why we had to ask if it’s the best event in sports you got to love um and you know you’d like to not see it too but Rory get in the fight with was a can’t La caddy too joa yeah that great I love as you can tell if you haven’t seen this show you need to turn it on you need to watch it right now I promise you even if you’re you’re trying to convince your wife to watch it she will be happy she watched it at the end of it my wife loves full swing hates golf but moving forward um I want to talk real quick about Joel Joel um what’s his last name Joel Damon is a guy that was on the first season everyone fell in love with him he’s got a big heart as you like to say kind of like an average Joe normal guy that happens to be one of the best golfers in the world is he in that top tier no and that was definitely apparent during this season because he’s kind of on the downswing I think that um you could see that Fame had gotten to him a lot he’s uh welcoming or just welcomed a child into the world so he’s got a lot going on but he was doing a lot of drinking this season there’s a lot of emotional cut that’s okay that’s one thing about Joel Damon everybody’s like oh he’s an alcoholic he’s an alcoholic there’s a ton of people who know him and they’re like that edit was so bad showing that he just drinks all the time he isn’t like that at all it just showed him drinking when he’s sitting down for dinner or after a all every scene he was drinking they say it’s not even like that he doesn’t drink to get drunk and all that he’s just drinking it you know casually that’s one thing that I heard is hey they made him look like Joel Damon’s an alcoholic and apparently he’s not well if that’s the case not tight full swing you know you want to portray people the best of their ability you got a lot of power in the editor’s chair but on that note I wanted to ask the the last scene with him and his caddy where they’re up in the PJ coming back from a tournament they had like a big come to Jesus Kumbaya moment where he tried to get his caddy to go play for someone who would you know win more tournaments make more money his CAD is like no man I’m in it for you not only like the money is not the the issue here like I care about you and they they kind of hugged out they both crying and stuff like that but do you think that that was the the turning point for Joel or do you think that that was just another charade I don’t know if there’s a turning point for Joel he’s a very talented golfer he would wipe the floor with a random golfer any of us a scratch golfer he would just absolutely destroy I don’t know if he’s ever going to be to the level where he’s comp competing week in and week out but yeah that interaction with Gino I mean you saw it throughout the season gin wants him to go see a therapist a sports psychologist to talk about these things because he did lose his mother at an early age um he’s gone through struggles um you know on the PGA tour he’s not making the kind of money that these other guys are making but he’s got his best buddy from high school on the bag he cares about him Joel tells his CAD hey Gino go pay you know go you know carry it back some or something right yeah go make yourself more money you know you get 8 to 10% of their winnings after each uh each tournament go go make some money and and Gino is just the consent Pro hey I’m going to stay with you I’m G to stick with you and uh he’s like hey just go see a sports psychologist and it looks like maybe he’s going to do that it worked for another guy on on the full swing wam Clark yeah he had the same thing his mother died at an early age and you know his caddy told him hey man if you don’t go see a sport psychologist I’m gone um and he did and then boom what does wiam Clark do he goes and wins the US Open last year yeah which was incredible and it’s a shame we didn’t really get to do a deep dive in him and that’s the bottom line of this show that every episode could warrant a St Pete dude’s recap uh because the Windom episode was absolutely phenomenal kind of had me like tearing up crying to myself there’s been a few moments in this the show where I’m like whoa um whatever with Matthew Fitzpatrick whenever he won his first in the the first season you’re crying for Fitzy dude I was tearing up I’m like and then the song the song at it too got me yeah I was like well it’s epic you know rounding into that um cuz it’s going to be one of my picks but who is your favorite upand Comer on the show from this season do we have the same guy who’s your guy Tom Kim oh I mean I like Tom Kim but no Tom Kim’s not my guy I mean Tom Kim’s the best dude Tom Kim is so cool he’s just just tiny little chubby Asian you know he went pro on the Asian tour at like 15 I think I think it’s 14 actually something stupid dude he’s so funny and he’s just like when he’s when he’s on the show you know he’s like the producers asking him like Hey you know you have a girlfriend he’s like no I don’t but like you know hit you know girls hit me up hit me up like he’s just so likable he’s riding around on his little cooler he gets to the Masters and he’s at Augusta and he doesn’t know what to do and he’s walking around he’s like bigger the sport is so big and then he goes in he’s like I can just order anything on the menu and they’re like yeah yeah he’s order was hilarious he’s so likable that’s my guy gets to a gust uh there are three things I want to say orders the pimento cheese I guess that’s like the classic sandwich but like gets there and orders a grilled cheese he he’s literally participating in the tournament but he’s the youngest guy there then accidentally goes into the winners locker room which was awkward he’s like I don’t think I’m supposed to be here and then Scotty pulls him aside I believe and he had parked in the Winner’s parking too that was funny he’s definitely likable but my favorite guy on this season does he have the same upside as Tom Kim I mean a lot would have to change but it’s going to be Alex fit Fitzpatrick for me um I’m just always a big fan of You Know The Underdogs coming on up he has a huge shout out to get out of of his older brother um season one kind of like you know introduce him to the scene season 2 he actually got his own episode which was crazy and you saw him really struggle in that I think uh proam in Louisiana or whatever but then he comes out at the same tournament where Tom Kim balled out at what was that the the um the British Open or something like that the Open Championship Liverpool yeah and like has beats his brother you know has a really good showing so I like Alex Fitzpatrick from the you’re just a good dude standpoint I’m rooting for him but Tom Kim obviously it’s hard not to like too but full swing thank you for doing what you’re doing uh I can’t wait for season 3 cannot wait for season 3 the day that drops I’m going to be on it so again thanks for tuning to St Pete dudes like subscribe and see uh See us some couple days [Music] [Applause]
