it’s teamed up with Scott benck a very successful team over the years with the Amo usack National sprint cars over here we have the BGE daughtering Motorsports teammates of CJ Larry and Carson Garrett CJ last year’s Bubby Jones master of going faster Champion just one of two drivers to win all four titles you can win in a season with the amzo usack Nationals sprint cars that of course is the season title Indiana Sprint week Eastern storm and of course the Bubby Jones Master are going faster tip of the cap to CJ he did this car all by himself vinyl wise so Chum from what I hear is very hard there’s CJ up there and of course Charlie and I guess we can talk about Carson Garrett I mean he I guess he had an okay year last year he’s only most improved driver of the year so I guess I guess we can call that an okay season but uh in all seriousness Carson turned a lot of heads last year especially with the second place run out at the Mak and Speedway during Top Gun weekend really excited to see Hunter Maddox back here in Florida we saw him for the whole week last year of course a local driver out in Indiana eighth last year in the paragan speedway weekly points and actually a former motocross racer in his own right and we talked about Jake Swanson departing TEAM Arizona well they picked them themselves up a really good gun in deson persley and in fact they’re the only team coming to Florida undefeated as a Duo they did a test run out at the cocopa speedway in Yuma Arizona for the USAC CR Western world and they won both nights so they’re going to be a to be reckoned with and not to mention very fast in practice last night good to see this driver back Alex brgh last time we saw him with usack he left an ambulance out at Lawrenceburg and since then Alex has made a full recovery and he’s in competition with us here this week in Florida for the Hefner racing Enterprises 27 Tom Harris of course from the UK coming over to come race with us one more time we saw him in Florida last year a little bit of a different look than we’re seeing but you want to talk about a guy that’s accomplished a lot he’s won just about everything you could want to win in a stock car in the UK and it’s been really cool Tom over here the last couple years and this car right here was turning a lot of heads last night it had good speed but also the paint Scheme it’s a bit of a throwback for Robert blue would don’t you know it’s Tyler brnette he’s hanging out the loud pedal podcast super famous guy here’s John mullik over here a winner last year with the rush Sprint Car Series actually he was third in the points and he won with the rush late model series and good seeing him out here again this year in Florida we got to see him last year and here right here is a team I’m sure a lot L of people are excited to see on the usack trail this year the Abacus Racing 57 driven by Logan cie who not only won the usack title last year but the usack silver crown title Rodney Garner Kirk Simpson wrenching on this thing and uh I know this car for a lot of reasons has a lot of emphasis on it in fact tonight is going to be only their third race together as a team and I to see you once more but that was a tough race in traffic between you and Brady bacon first off how did you set up Brady and then what happened between you two down in turn four uh yeah I knew we had a really good race car there espec like I was pretty tight early I was like chunking through the holes down there and I knew once fuel load come off that we were going to be probably in really good shape and uh just tried to B my time early and then start picking them off and as we were coming to Brady I felt like we had a we had a better race car like I could I could really eat him up in three and four and uh but it was going to be really tough to get by him and and fortunately the way the lap traffic worked out I was able to sneak by him and then I missed the bottom off three and four and he got me back and I I was able to I was able to make a bunch of time around the top get back around him and and I hadn’t entered up high since earlier in the race and I got down in there and I got to I got to like chopping on the right re Tire being real low on air and and just chopped my way kind of half spun and come down the track in front of him and we banged wheels and he spun out and that uh that wasn’t how I wanted that to go I planned on just circling top and driving away and and having uh not having to feel bad about anything but uh feel bad we you know we we kind of ended Brady’s race there we were having a heck of a battle and I was looking forward to to battling with him to to the end Brady’s a Brady’s a great race car driver it’s a lot of fun racing with him but uh my top cool to tie him it’s uh it’s really cool that we that we have those lists uh to to look back at you know the heroes and the and the legends of our Sport and being able to climb up among them is uh is a is an absolute dream come true I never thought I’d win a single us sa print car race so so to be to be climbing up through there with those guys and be be tied with Jack hu on the all-time wins list is uh it means a lot and uh it’s very special for me but I couldn’t do it without the great team I have behind me and all the people that have given me an opportunity up along the way Justin Grant off to a hot start to defend his title from the last two seasons he’s your winner on night number one winner dirt games here at aala Speedway CJ ly I would say a fair quiet night for you I think is the best way to put it started third finished second but is that kind of the way you prefer it sometimes on the opening nights of these long long Seasons like we’re going to have this year with the Amo usack National Sprint Car Series just kind of a quiet night in the podium finish that’s honestly uh the perfect perfect first night you know uh running second was was good you know I don’t think we had anything for Brady or Justin uh I think we kind of locked into a second place finish there but uh oh man just uh made changes all night we I feel like we were pretty good all night like a 140 as fast as we could go last last night and then you know we went 14 140 again and qualifying and uh just going to have to do our homework a little bit and uh to be better you know we got five nights here so it need to be a little bit better to beat Justin uh hats off for those guys they uh picked up right where they left off last year so uh definitely got to be a little bit better I can’t thank Doug and and Brock and everybody on the BGA crew for uh getting us down here you know uh letting me come back for a year or two I think uh I think we’ve got a great year ahead of us CJ ly a good second place finish to start off the season rounding out the podium Logan CV in the new advocus racing car effort and Logan I’m sure you know this but not every day a new Sprint car team comes on the scene first race out with the national series gets it on the podium and I know you have Kirk and Ronnie back there with you is is that kind of the key to getting a team jump start like this people you’re familiar with yeah it obviously you know helps I’ve worked with Ronnie and won with Ronnie a bunch and uh Kirk’s been on my you know all the last year so um pretty pretty excited for the the rest of the season um you know obviously it’s a great start there to go second quick and and then third in the feat so um yeah not uh not one of my best tracks on paper but um certainly a place that’s unique and I feel like the unique tracks are ones that um guys that can figure it out can can pass some cars and um when you got a good car like I do I see like I said it’s our our first night but when this thing uh you know just comes out of the box really good and uh we just have all the pieces uh that we need to to run well and you know the right car and shock and engine package and um you know that’s that’s huge with with non Wings sprint cars just just for the thing to drive nice and um make myob job a little bit easier these things are already tough enough to drive so um yeah just proud of Ronnie and Kirk and uh Brent and everybody back home John everyone that’s watching Johnny’s watching he’s probably pumped at home there in MCD so I’m sure I’ve already got five phone calls from Johnny but um but yeah this is uh this is cool I know everyone’s going to be excited and yeah like you said took him out on the podium night one is great and um but we’re looking we’re looking to be right over there and grab some WIS this trip C and Abacus Racing off to a hot start in their tenure together on the amsel usack Nationals Sprint car Trail Robert beloo hard charge at T night and Robert towards the end of the race you were the only guy to make the top side work where everybody kind of got around down the burn what were you able to find up there that no one else really could towards the end uh I Chang a gear just uh trying things we’re we got a different engine uh that we’re trying for down here that’s probably 25 years old and uh it was one of the first spring car engines that I ever had and uh I I got it back uh last last fall from the the fares uh and uh they just let me run run the thing and uh it obviously still has speed uh we changed the gear just trying to fine-tune the thing and uh went a little bit too far I didn’t expect it to be uh 30 laps uh kind of around the bottom for say but uh uh that gear needed to be ripping ripping around the lip so uh after I followed for a while I finally said uh you know if I’m going to make any money tonight I need to move up and try and make something happen and if the caution hadn’t came out I think we could have been a little bit better but uh the gear really killed us uh Derek and and Todd and Rick and my dad and everyone have uh really you know busted their butt to get this thing going uh my girlfriend uh hustling shirts out there uh well we need to get us a win uh to get back on the right side of things uh Joe Devon buildt us uh two beautiful race cars over the winter and uh you know it’s really uh gave us the spark that we need uh I’m in the best uh shape physically and mentally that I’ve been in probably in the last eight years and uh everything is where it needs to be so uh now we’re just powers and the 117 did not make the call in the heat race so he will be slated for the final starting spot [Music] so a few missing on the lineup scheduled for 10 looks like we’re going to go with they can use any Honda Kawasaki Suzuki or Y Omaha date not to exceed two calendar years and here’s the interesting part you can run injected or carburated 1cc on a fuel injected engine 1100 CC’s on a carburated engine of course no traction control kind of all the things you would expect minimum weight requirement 1,00 1,400 lb must be attached to the chassis cannot be fixed anywhere else so kind of checking out the rules and seeing how these cars kind of come together here kind of interesting it’s everything I’ve seen in like an IMCA modified package is just downsized only place I’ve seen this class is here in Florida right now hopkey continuing to dominate in this one 1.98 seconds with 12 laps to go he could have some company here Colton Lane starting to charge a little bit kind of to the fourth position ra continuing to run out your top five now going to look to the inside of the 16 nothing happening though as they work onto the backstretch up front battle for for the lead might be Brewing here Colton Lane as reeled in Dalton hopy hopy looking for his first win of the Season Lane the youngest competitor on track trying to upset it as the caution light’s going to come on yet again Tim Hogan in the 29 cause of the caution comes to a rest of the inside of turn number four for [Music] [Music] so Hogan able to refire back into the side by side restart six laps remaining going to bring it all the way into turn four not quite the jump he had last time but he still going to clear up to the front hopy laning the car going to push a little bit find some good bite though as he flies the left front onto the back straightway tries to peek to the inside battle for the lead does he have it no has to wait on the car kind of bobbled around to the right rear a little bit and scrubbed off all of his momentum hopy able to take advantage and hold on to it keep an eye on Ethan H he has got a full head of steam onto the back straightway they’re going to come around this time to four to go and he snooker him on the outside he’s got a run remember made that three wi pass to get to the third spot has to go in wait on the car just a little bit on Entry brings it down and man bit harder um but I started freeing up as the race went on uh motor started running a little hot I was kind of glad and not glad for the driver under the red flag but I was able to shut the motor down and cool it down for a little bit but uh feels good I’ve had a really really tough three weeks and this feels good to bring some money home and he writes that wrong dalan hopkey your TQ modified
