this Miles and Miles have led us here to this point Charlotte this place is special I know a [Music] place ain’t nobody crying pit stop in a place true and dear to our hearts celebration in a sense dreams achieved stars born to the race but there’s still business to handle and with a playoff push Lumen no time to be wasted tonight we have a battle on our hands oh we got a SP we’re racing in Charlotte baby race day starts now on [Music] FS1 there is no place quite like the Queen City when it comes to the of NASCAR and tonight the Craftsman Truck Series gets to race in their own backyard as the teams take on this very unique mile and a half racetrack Charlotte Motor Speedway sets the stage for the 700th race for the series with a win and extra money on the line tonight we’re going to explain it all and break it down right here on race day welcome in to our race day Studio I’m cayin Vincy alongside America’s crew chief Larry mcrs Todd Bodine is here you’re already dancing you in he loves that music that we just heard hey it’s a mile and a half racetrack it’s under the lights but this place it is not easy oh no this is absolutely one of the toughest RAC tracks uh we go to on NASCAR and all the all the circuits uh you know it’s not just the fact that turns three and four is as rough as a dirt road in North Carolina you know it’s it’s not the fact that there’s no grip anymore the racetrack is old and slides like a dirt road in North Carolina and the fact that these guys run every single lap like it’s a qualifying lap I mean right on the Ed disaster it’s not just that but you put all three of those things together it makes it a tough racetrack to get around and one of the most challenging for a driver that we see every all year long and that has not changed in years but Caitlyn you said something that resonated with me the 700th race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series I remember we were at Sonoma in 1994 and NASCAR had some crew chiefs go up to the top of the hill and they unveiled the first pickup truck I went well that’s interesting we’re going to raise pickup truck 1995 but here we are it started in 1995 700 races later and I could not think of a better place to have the 700 race than the home track for most of these drivers and most of these teams what a cool claim that you won the 7th H race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series but with that said the other thing we now we’re still in the month of May we only have six regular season races to go so what that means is tick tock tick tock a lot of drivers still looking for that first win in 2024 and trying to punch their ticket to the playoffs yeah hard to believe the races are dwindling down to the postseason so we’re in Charlotte Motor Speedway tonight last week we were kind of up the road over at North wilksboro this was Saturday we were whole new in wet weather time it really does here’s christianus almost race deep in the water walking through with this firit the race got called early that night it moved over to Sunday where it was Cory Heim and Company who got it done Mr Heim time been so impressive throughout the course of this season so far here’s his last three finishes he won at Kansas 28th at Darlington led a lot of laps there though but had some issues that caused that finish then North bsbo got the victory So What story do these numbers tell what do you say about Cory Heim there is no doubt that Cory Heim and that 11 team they have been red hot you showed the last three races he’s actually won three of the last six but what I see after 10 races Cory time his 11 team Christian Ekans and that 19 team they have just separated themselves from the rest of the field you’re seeing some of the stats right here they’ve won half of the races both of these drivers they only have one finish all year long outside the top 10 they combin LED 696 laps and they’re sitting first and second in the points I feel like they’ve just kind of separated themselves from the field right now yeah what do you think about these two drivers well I tell you what the thing about Cory Heim both of these guys really it applies to both of them you know you look at these stats right phenomenal incredible what these two young men have done this year but to me what’s impressive are the intangibles right the things that you can’t measure with numbers you watch these young men week in and week out their racecraft is incredible how smart they are behind the wheel the things they do uh the maturity that they’ve both shown in the growth especially in Kristen his growth from last year to this year is just incredible Corey is is spot on every week Christian’s been right there with them these two you’re right Larry these two have separated themselves from the pack and they’re going to be our Championship favorites through the playoffs and this is the fourth race at a mile and a half Racetrack and when you look at those two drivers right there in the first three between the two of them the worst finish at a mile and a half this year is six most of it are top five finishes so I’m sure they’ll both be players tonight yeah that speaks volumes those numbers there those two definitely the class of the field eventful day though already guys for Christian ekas take a look at this and qu practice and qualifying Caden honey cut and Christian actually came together they had contact neither one of these teams had to go to a backup car but all hands on deck trying to work on the 19 truck and by that I mean christianus getting in on the action trying to pull the toolbox over there to assist his team he is a man of the team no doubt about it but what impact could this have on these two teams with the damage and things well kayen really got lucky I think he ended up they didn’t even have to hardly work on this truck it didn’t mess the side up or anything he qualified qualified up front now Christian’s different story The it Cav the whole side of his truck in you saw it there in the garage area had to fix it starting in the back the thing about the reason they didn’t bring their backup truck out is that truck was fast he was the fastest 10 laap average of anybody in practice and I know that they felt like we got to keep this truck we got to do what we can because we know we got the balance we know it’s fast and you know Christian like I said a minute ago his driving’s been spot on and coming through the pack from the back he’s not going to make mistakes he’s not going to put himself in bad positions and he’ll work his way to the front it’s definitely not how he would prefer his weekend to start out but for more on Christian eus and his team we send it out to the racetrack at Charlotte Motor Speedway and say hello to our pit reporter who’s been very busy just was on Pit Road for the Arc of race Amanda buck with us now what’s the latest you can tell us on Christian neus and his team Amanda hey Kaitlin yeah that’s a driver that’s going to be flexing that racecraft tonight you can see we’re getting ready for driver intros out here as we count down to the trucks race but when it comes to Christian ekas like you said it was an eventful practice for him I talked to the team and asked what he thought about that truck prior to the incident with Kaden Honeycut and he said that uh I actually really like the truck and I I never have feedback like that so I think you’re spot on with wanting to keep that truck I also heard from the team with such a tight turnaround to Gateway that’s another reason why they decided to stay with the primary but nothing mechanical from what I heard just a little body damage so as we know Christian Tas will be ready to charge towards the front we’ve seen him do it before thank you Amanda great insight there we’ll check in with you throughout the course of the show now Christian and Kaden not the only trucks to have an issue earlier today in qualifying Christian’s teammate Tyler anram look at that guys he went for big slide doing a a great job of saving that 18 truck though I might say now I’ll take a look at some notable starting positions after an eventful session this afternoon Tanner gray claimed the poll also just won the arcer race his second ever poll in the truck series Cory Heim makes his best start of the Season Kaden Honeycut with an impressive ninth starting position the defending Series champion though Ben RADS he will roll off 13th and then there’s the maali Hamman racing teammates that we just mentioned both near the back of the grid and take a look at this guys Mr Tanner gray getting his first national series win in NASCAR got the big ARCA race Victory just moments ago out there at Charlotte Motor Speedway uh very good day for him and a lot of momentum as well so here’s the results for the double duty drivers doing both races Tanner gray as we saw is the winner Dean Thompson with the top 10 Conor mosac 27th and Lawless Allen got a eighth place finish not too bad for him but this is this is big for Tanner Gray he’s been kind of knocking on the door of a national series win for quite some time yeah and he had to come from a lap down he had a flat tire under the green and had to get the waiver around to get back on the lead lap but they brought him a very fast Toyota we we know Aram trucks different Vehicles even A different race tire but it’s the same racetrack but if nothing else for Tanner gray you’ve got to believe it gives that young man some confidence Jamie little said it his first win ever in one of the top series of NASCAR well I I think the confidence you’re talking about actually started like three weeks ago the last couple truck races he has been really really strong uh couple of top 10 great run last week going at North wilksboro and you know momentum and confidence you get that it it spills over and just keeps rolling so I think that’s a lot to do with it and of course finishing first today in this ARCA race H you know starting on a poll certainly can’t hurt also shout out to Dean Thompson he’s running all three series xinity ARCA and trucks he will be busy this weekend so too well the drivers only it’s coming to you for the expin series starring Brad kazlowski and Austin cnri a studio analyst we got Joey loano with us once again as play byplay Ryan blay will be an an for us along with Eric Jones that must be a very old photo as analyst we have Carson host of our on Pit Road alongside Josh Barry we love the drivers only broadcast it’s so much fun we’ve been doing it for a number of years now it’s tomorrow 12:30 p.m. Eastern on Fox the drivers really get into it Larry they really do and it’s so hard to believe this is the seventh year that NASCAR and fox has done the drivers only and I think back the last year Carson hos ofar stole the show we had that little bit of rain he was in the garage area he just absolutely stole the show Austin syri he’s taken it from old Larry Mack I know he’s going to have that bow tie own I was the first one to wear a bow tie bow tie wearer that’s right it’s going to be cool though we look forward to Driver’s only broadcast every single year still to come here on race day Ben rhods was the winner of this race one year ago can he repeat tonight we’re going to hear from him out at the racetrack plus team owner aln is a marine veteran and we have a special story with him and upcoming driver Kaden Honeycut when we return welcome back to race day from Charlotte Motor Speedway there’s Raja Kus and Matt Crafton uh sharing a few laughs looking calm and collected there as they prepare for the Truck Series race that will be happening momentarily what about this guy Ty Dylan he’s actually the youngest Charlotte truck series pole winner but he will start 20th for the race today hoping to make some noise in this big event in Charlotte now this is the first race of the Triple truck challenge the winner will receive a $50,000 bonus St Louis and Nashville are the second and third locations for the Triple truck challenge If a driver wins all three they will earn $500,000 which is a big incentive Larry because that that’s a lot of money especially for a Truck Series team this is a very cool program we’ve seen in Action a couple years now it really is and this is the sixth year that we’ve done it and only one time has a driver won two of the three Sheldon Creed back in 2020 got that $150,000 bonus no driver has ever won the half a million but we talked about Cory Heim and Christian ekas oh yeah could one of those actually pull this off I would not put it past them but you know regardless 50,000 150,000 or half a million for these truck teams that’s a lot of money in any of those configurations well there’s one thing about race car drivers that everybody knows you don’t really really need any added incentive but you hang that $50,000 carrot out there and you boy you’re can get they’re going to go after it for sure yes they will everybody wants to earn the extra money no doubt about that so let’s take now a look at the playoffs leaderboard where we stand at this point in the season and I want to focus in on Grant infinger currently six above the cut line here he is this is the number to the cut Kansas he was plus one Darlington minus5 then made up quite a bit of ground plus six after the last race North wilksboro so expectations for Grant INF finger tonight well we know that second place finish in North wilksboro had to be big for Grant INF finger you know this is kind of a new program for him I know he drove for this operation several years ago on a part-time basis bringing Jeff stankowitz over there the crew chief but you know Grant is that guy that just will wear you down with a top five a top 10 in stage points I know he wants to win in a nine truck but with six to go and where he’s sitting you don’t have to drive the green just hit the ball down the middle of the farewell St six straights weaks and more than likely you’ll be a part of the playoffs down the fairwell down straight down the Fairway you know the thing that I see with with Grant and Jeff stano it’s that now you’re right this the beginning of this year is pretty rough you know a lot of lot of bad runs they had a couple of decent trucks but you know they go to Kansas and had a good truck got in some trouble lost some points went to Darlington had a really good truck running to the front got put in the wall off with two ended up with a bad finish but the thing that I’ve seen especially going to wilksboro is I think they’ve turned the corner together and one reason I say that North wilksboro they didn’t have a good truck they start well they were good in practice qualified decent but the start of that race they weren’t very good and their communication level has gotten so much better that Jeff stanitz knew what Grant needed he fixed that truck and Grant drove it to second place so I think they’ve turned the corner and we’re going to see some more good stuff out of them and I think there may be finally reaping a reward for having that alliance with macali hman racing I know I was up at Bill’s shop up there in Statesville and there was a nine truck in there so they truly have a strong alliance with m H we know how fast their trucks have been every week what’s that saying the ships rise all Tides or something like that ring tide Li all ship it it was a vant just wrong order okay one year ago guys it was Ben Rose who got his season going in the right direction LED 37 Laps on the way to the win and he ended up being the champion last year as well so big moment for Ben roads and Company and I want to look also at his season so so far because it’s been a pretty interesting Road season opener at Daytona he was 30th up and down as you can see here guys he was seventh at Circuit of America that was a bright spot best of third at Darlington but 20th just last week at North wilksboro right now for answers on what he thinks for tonight Amanda is standing by with Ben and Caitlyn it’ll be Thor sport that are hoping that high tides can rise All Ships here this weekend in Charlotte and Ben I talked to you in qualifying and you were hoping to better you’re 19th of last year you will start 13th you won this race last year and we know how your season finished up with a championship did you get what you were looking for I mean it’s game it’s still a few spots better than last year but ultimately we went back and looked at some data and we left quite a bit of speed off of turn four I mean I knew that right cuz I had to let out of the gas from almost knocking the wall down but um I think had I not been a little so greedy in that corner we could maybe be a little higher up but um regardless happy with qualifying position that we were able to improve upon last year same truck same setup uh so I think it’s got some speed um it’s handling a little bit different though so hopefully the track comes to us tonight now I can’t take credit for this next question general manager of Thor sport David Pepper came over to us prior to the interview and he said well Ben it’s gone all year without a win when are you g to get this done so answer David’s question yeah hopefully tonight uh I would say that tonight we give us us odds the best chances everything’s going as smooth as we could hope for right now uh apart from the little hicup and qualifying but other than that I mean our camper in RV Ford F-150 handles good right so that’s what you ask for and I’m hoping I can deliver for him I was talking to Grant infinger earlier just about the bumps that we’re experiencing here this year and he called it the Sebring of ovals describe it for the fans yeah it’s pretty wild um you know it seems like every year we come back uh maybe they’re a little more aggressive or there’s maybe one more here but yeah it’s it’s gnarly I think one of the best illustrations of that is going into turn three I thought um AR heart literally blew a motor he bottomed out so bad in front of me that uh a giant wave of Sparks big flash of light and no no motor’s good he’s just bombing out and hitting the racetrack that’s just how it is here at Charlotte uh so that can really catch you off guard as a driver you do your best to avoid it run with the Big Arc and avoid the bumps it does it does make a difference for Speed thank you Ben good luck tonight yeah thank you kayen thank you Amanda Ben Road seems pretty confident in his piece for tonight what do you think for him is he going to be going back to back for wins at Charlotte well you know I I think that if you give Ben a good truck absolutely he can drive it up there and get the job done we know that we’ve seen it year after year right now I just don’t know that that’s going to happen and for one reason you know The Season’s been tough up and down we saw the start the chat the chart right there and you know if you have that kind of issue with one team that’s one thing but they had it with two and and Duke thoron and David Pepper that am man was talking about decided to make a change crew chief shot Swap and now he’s bz with Doug Rand off Rich Lucius was with Jake Garcia so I don’t know that the Mojo and chemistry are quite ready to get there but if you give them a good truck he can get it done hopefully David Pepper is not listening because he asked the question on when he’s winning I I actually second guess this whole crew chief swapping from Ben I get a feeling sometimes they’re robbing Peter to pay Paul up there at Thor sport they they try to fix one team and they actually hurt another I’m actually surprised that Ben is above the cut line with an average finish in these first 10 races of 17.3 but when he won this race a year ago even though he never hoisted another race winning trophy over the next 12 races four top fives eight top 10 and he was the one hoing that trophy signifying a champion and I could not think of a better track to come to because aside from the win at Charlotte and his eight starts there four top fives in seven consecutive top 10 if nothing else this could be a solid night to keep him well above that cut line this was the place where he got his season turned around a year ago so we’ll see if that happens once again take a look at the Thor sport teammates their starting positions for tonight time M Jesy the best of the group starting third therec Ben rhods 13th Jake Garcia and 18th Crafton 22nd Conor Jones starting deep in the field 25th I want to focus in on driver 88 what do you think Todd it’s been a while since we’ve seen that 88 Victory l I’m I’m going to use Larry’s analogy him and Jared Prince his crew chief they’ve been hitting it right down the Fairway every week getting we eth and 12th eight and 15th they just haven’t hit that good long drive to get them on the green and four and get that eagle and you know it’s I think they’re they’re capable of doing it certainly Matt is we know that uh he got his first win here at Charlotte a long time ago and uh you know we know that the trucks are good so it’s just a I think it’s matter of time again get their get their act together get on the same page to be able to run up front and trucks are different today and they’re handling different and I and I’ll be honest I think these young kids don’t know anything but wide open and Matt is from the old school he’s an older guy and I think he kind of lays back and tries to play that game a little bit and with these kids you can’t do that yeah I want to focus on the 98 Tai maesi they’re driving the ball about 500 yards but it’s off in the wood that’s off in the water they I think they’ve got a truck on a pretty consistent basis that’s as fastest at 11 and the 19 but whether strategy execution they’re just not closing the deal right now you guys in your golf analogies today are just because we had a great game today did you there you go speaking of great game Sunday the United Football League is back in Action things kick off at 2:30 Eastern as the DC Defenders take on the Memphis showboats or Michigan battles Houston check for five races for him he’s looking for his first top five of the Year big task ahead as he starts 36 after his throttle hung in qualifying earlier today speaking of top five finishes last week at North wilksboro Lane Riggs got his best finish of the year and Lane makes his best start of the Season tonight right now Amanda is standing by with the rookie and kayin Lane comes off of that third place finish at North wilksboro and you told me that we needed that how much of that momentum can be used here tonight in Charlotte yeah we’ve had a lot of speed all year we just hadn’t really been able to show it I think every single thing that’s gone wrong it could have gone wrong has happened to us so you know we had about a third place truck at the end of the race at wilsor we kind of made a roll of the dice on pit strategy and you know we we were third we we need him to finish third and we did that so I was proud of that and all my guys and we’re just definitely building every single race we’re finally getting that magic correlation together and uh tonight we got a brand new RAC truck that we just built for this weekend my first ever new one and it’s a it was pretty fast and practiceing qualifying so if we can just stay up in the front I know that the guys are going to make some good adjustments and I think we’re going to go to the all the way to the very front Lane you qualified fifth in that brand new truck when you look at the the race that is ahead how do you stay up there yeah I think it’s just a lot about track position having strong pit stops you know when you’re when you’re up near the front you know we’re not working in the second bracket anymore we’re working in T and hundreds of a second so just being on my game making sure I’m doing everything right pit crew got to be on their game tonight make strong stops no mistakes and uh once you usually are up front you make no mistakes you stay up front laye the rookie this season it’ll be his first race here at Charlotte Motor Speedway kayin thank you Amanda we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on him he’s got to be so relieved they had a good solid day last time out and plenty to build on right yeah absolutely you can hear it in his voice right there in the interview he’s pumped up and I I got to talk with him and him and his dad at North wilsor a little bit and Lane that’s exactly what he said they needed that run they knew they were good or decent all year but they never could complete it and get to the end of the race and Kansas they had a good run went to Darlington ended up with really good strong all day and go went to North wilsor finished third he he’s fired up he knows he’s got a good team it’s just a matter of put all those pieces together and making that puzzle work and he’s starting up front so this could be his night maybe to get a win and these drivers are also looking to maybe get their first career win Tanner gray who won just a bit ago in the Arca Series has 104 starts hoping to get a victory in trucks chase pury is on the list along with Taylor Gray Daniel Dy Kaden Honeycut and Lane Rigs and speaking of Kaden Honeycut he drives for aln who is a former military member that served as a Marine in Vietnam as we approach Memorial Day weekend we sent Amanda to the shop to talk with Al on his time serving our country and how the team pays it forward to service members here is Amanda with Kaden and [Music] aln racing this weekend in Charlotte on Memorial Day kayen you’re going to race with a marine on your truck how important is that to you just means everything especially since you know having the connection here at nce Motorsports for Al for sure but also every soldier that has giving us the opportunity to be free and to be able to do stuff like this is an honor and definitely a privilege so I’m really excited for this weekend and represent everybody well especially Al and uh Mr Mr Dunham tell me about the shoes this is an RDC shoe every shoe purchase goes back to the foundations that are on this truck to to help our veterans out that are in need to be able to have this cool looking truck decked out in an American flag and show how much we appreciate veterans and and appreciate people like Al that have served us and let us be free to go race and circles every week and and know that we are safe because of them you received something in the mail in 1966 that you said was the best decision of your life well I had a draft notice I didn’t want to go to the Army so I enlisted in the Marine Corps to be with the best and went overseas in 6768 made it home you know we’re honoring in those that that we’ve served with we’re remembering them that didn’t come home off of a fourth place finish at Kansas who is Kaden Honeycut as a driver right now you know I don’t come here to finish second I come to win races that’s what this team’s about even if it is a part-time schedule I try to do the best I can and now that I have that experience especially running up front a mile and a half that I’ve never done before definitely brings the confidence to go to Charlotte this weekend and to be able to hit that wind column we had about 70 drivers since our existence have gone through this program Kaden is one of The Shining points I mean Ross Carson I think Kaden Falls right into that group May 10th 2019 what does that date mean to you first win in Charlotte damn near fell off the pit box celebrating so much we clear down and turn turn four they told us we needed to get the Winter Circle and none of us knew where the Winter Circle was so we’ve been very successful at uh Charlotte I know Kaden’s going to have a good truck here we go again I’m just excited about what we’re going to do a great interview there and a good reminder of aln and everything that he’s been through as a person he is a special person in the truck series and given a lot of drivers opportunities absolutely you know uh Al’s a good friend of mine and he he actually spent the night with us on Wednesday night and we went to dinner before and I heard all the Marine stories and we got up for breakfast and I heard some more Marine stories he is so proud to be a marine and be in the Marine Corps and you saw him get choked up right there that’s Al he cares that much about his brothers in in arms in the Marine Corps and as an owner I I think you see how soft-hearted he is he wants to give these young guys a chance in a break kids like Kaden who who can do it if he gets the right opportunity we’ve seen kayen he can get this done and Al saw that before anybody else so Al Al wears his heart on his sleeve and is a is a great person a great guy and I’m glad to call him my friend yeah Alie is definitely good at identifying Talent Kaden honey cut one of his drivers right now been a eventful day already for him but he’s still starting closer to the front despite the issues in practiceing qualifying yeah he’s 20 years old this will only be his 25th career start only his fifth start of 2024 Todd talked about it earlier I think this young man found out just how tough this mile and a half track is and after that and with very little practice and a he took ownership in what happened with Christian ekas he said I made a rookie mistake he goes out there and qualifies ninth and honestly this young man and this is nothing against the full-time drivers at nce Motorsports he’s kind of showing those drivers up four starts three top 10 his other two drivers they’re still looking for their first top 10 of 2024 yeah great numbers on his side for Kaden honey cut take a look at the notable starting positions for the race tonight Kaden in ninth as we’ve talked about and here are a few others Lane rigs in fifth makes his first Charlotte start Conor mosac is in the row behind and seventh Grant eninger he starts the race back in 17th and take a look at this the two truck of Mr Nick Sanchez oh well actually here is Nick he is our Daytona winner he will start 16th for the race and there’s a reason we’re talking about the two team because we want to give a congratulations to Chris show Walter the truck chief on his team on 700 STS he’s been there for all of them he has been there for all of them uh that is pretty remarkable it’s also his birthday so good for Chris schalter he’s been a staple in this series well you know there’s a reason somebody sticks around for 700 races that’s because Chris is really good at his job yes and he’s been with a lot of different teams and they’ve all been top teams and the other part about Chris he’s one of the nicest guys you’re ever going to meet he works hard everybody on the teams loves him he doesn’t have a problem with anybody anybody in the garage and good job Chris I’m proud of you buddy yeah just to iterate that’s 700 consecutive that’s not just 700 it’s 700 consecutive he has never missed a Truck Series race which is not even really believable right yeah he’s so hardcore he was at One race and he had appendicitis and he stayed stayed on the box that’s right Chris SCH Walter is a tough guy and a a important part of the truck series as well all right we’re getting closer and closer to racing out there in Charlotte a little over 14 minutes to the command you see the trucks out there on the grid business is picking up it looks like a beautiful night for good truck in practice had the fastest 10 laap average they knew it they fixed the truck let’s watch him come through the field and what about this guy on the pole the pole cat already been to Victory Lane today won the arcer race come came from a lap down looking for his first career win in the truck series just barely above the cut line but you know he’s in a position to score some stage points we talked about it earlier a great opportunity for another driver to punch their ticket to the playoffs tonight okay speaking of that time now for our race picks Who We Believe can get it done in series just a little bit ago right here on FS1 got his second consecutive poll at Charlotte earlier today he leads us to the green tonight going for career win number one behind the wheel of a truck everybody with two drivers that have won right here Michael Waltrip Phil Parsons I’m Adam Alexander when you race at Charlotte it just means more Michael it’s a home game Adam these teams all want to get the victory for the men and women that work so hard on these trucks and I’m going to tell you one thing that the drivers are certainly happy about that sun has set it was treacherous out there today we saw guys trying to run over 180 mph and qualifying and their trucks just simply get away from them not a lot of grip a lot of slipping and sliding we had a lot of action in that short practice session including this come together between Kaden honey cut and Christian ekas eus with a lot of damage to that 19 truck they took it back to the garage they worked it over Christian did his part getting the toolbox up the hill they got that thing repaired and I think he’s going to be a threat coming from the back and honey cut had a really fast truck too wouldn’t it be interesting if those two wound up at the front tonight Racing for a win after what happened earlier today I think it’s possible you mentioned Christian ekis he’s a player every week just like Cory Heim I mentioned earlier he won three his third one of the season coming last week who are some other drivers Beyond Honeycut we need to keep an eye on well Adam we’re 10 races into this regular season that means we only have six races left in the regular season a couple of guys I’m a little bit worried about are guys that were perennial Championship contenders Grant enfinger right now is just a little bit above the cut line he was actually below the cut line before he had a great runnerup finish last week at North WV that jumped him up above the cover the cut line and our champion from last year and as you you mentioned earlier the winner of this race last year Ben Rose just barely above the cut line he hasn’t really got his season untracked he had a top five finish at Darlington did not have a good finish last week at North wilksboro but expect him to be good here but there’s one other guy that I want to keep my eye on you mentioned him Michael Kaden hyut he got into that bit of an incident with Christian ekis no damage to that truck but he had such a great run at Kansas he actually has three top 10 finishes in four starts he was contending for that win at Kansas before finishing fourth that’s a young man I’m keeping my ey on as well the fact that he had problems in practice he still qualifies ninth and he’s got plenty of confidence after that performance a few weeks ago at Kansas for this race won the arker race tomeski went out late and came up in third place Roger kth with another strong qualifying effort Lane rigs great qualifying effort along with Chase pie back in row three I’m telling you Phil as we go through these lineups week in and week out Conor mosak Jack wood great performance for Jack this week and last I just can’t pick a winner there’s so many competitive trucks but I’m going to skip all the way to the back of the field where Christian ekin is going to line up see if we can get a word with Chris sure hey buddy Michael wal and the fox team do you copy yeah buddy got what clear well the Napa truck got a little damage to her earlier today nothing of your doing got ran into uh how do you feel about the repairs and uh I think you’re my favorite to win this race charg through the field I like the sound of that uh yeah this number 19 nap Auto Care blacks Tire crew did a really good job fixing it up um yeah the damage was unfortunate I felt like we probably would have had a shot at the pole and I haven’t been very happy with my race trck in the last few weeks and I was actually happy with this one so uh hopefully that translates but yeah just looking forward to the race tonight we are too this is a special place charge through there and give us something to talk about Buddy copy will do hey9 y’all know that song he didn’t know it I asked him about earli yeah absolutely Steely Dan yeah that’s right I’m here for the show and I think Christian’s going to put one on tonight and we saw Adam so many different lines out there it was like North wilksboro but times three at the size of this place they’re running next to the wall down on the bottom there’s going to be so much action now we hear from our our pit reporters Jamie how amand Abus hanging out downstairs we start with Jamie good evening Jamie good evening Adam yeah for Tanner gray it’s been over five years of trying but he now finally has that gorilla off of his back of winning a national event Race by getting that Arkham manard series Checkered Flag earlier tonight he said it not only gave him the knowledge that he’s able to go out there and do it it also taught him how this track has transitioned into night time he knows where the grip is and he plans on using that tonight he’s also carrying the momentum of finishing in the top 10 on the last two intermediate tracks he’s ready for a Truck Series win but the driver who was able to get the truck series win here last year is Ben rhods and for Ben he says yes statistically this is the worst start to a season that he has ever had here in the truck series he’s the defending champion and he knows that if he’s going to really defend that Championship it’s time to start turning things around the work has been done back in the Thor sports shop to get it done nobody is in panic mode right now it’s time to go Amanda hey Jamie and yell on Monday it was announced that te Dean Thompson would be making his Infinity debut this weekend well he’s in a truck right now and he just finished seventh in the arer race so with all this talk about doubles we got triples happening here this weekend and I asked Dean what made him know that he was ready for this challenge he said I have been training and preparing for this for a very long time and also asked him how are you conserving your energy he simply said I am not we go back to North wilbor Cory Heim picked up his third win on the season 81 miles away from this track right here he has finished in the top 10 in every race but one this season that means that everyone is noticing the consistency that Cory Heim has this season I asked him about it he said you know what motivates me it said I don’t know what’s next some people have a job and I don’t so that is The Edge that Cory Heim is racing with and it’s working Jamie I think I want to be his agent you know what I mean I I would like to ref yes he is that’d be a good person to be right now wouldn’t it everybody wants to know a little bit about Cory heimess from our friends at Craftsman they’re going to present the track description you can see mile and a half in length turns are banked at 24 degrees looks pretty straightforward and pretty simple it didn’t look that way this afternoon in practice qualifying these trucks are going to be running over 180 M hour into these Corners a lot of banking a lot of grip until there isn’t and that’s when you see those slips and slides a lot of grip till there isn’t till there isn’t let’s take a look at our race analysis you see this race is 200 laps 134 laps excuse me 200 miles you see stage one is going to be that graphic is ABS absolutely wrong stage one is going to be 30 laps stage two is going to be 30 laps and then the final stage 74 laps that means we will have a pit stop in that final stage and that’s going to be interesting when they decide to make that pit stop and if a caution comes out is it a green flag stop we saw a lot of guys practicing entering bit Road and in Kansas that could have been the difference in winning and losing for Kaden Honeycut he he got beat a little bit on Pit Road with his stop maybe a little bit in and off Pit Road he learned so much from that and I’m sure he learned learned a whole much a whole lot about his truck this afternoon in practice let’s do our onboard camers Michael yeah race to stop suicide on board for Daniel Dy another truck that’s starting in the rear of this field and he’s been so solid this year it’s going to be fun to see Daniel charge through the field we’re also going to ride along with Raja kth this is the Hendrick cars.com Chevrolet Raja won the race at Las Vegas a mile and a half looking to be two qualified on row two for tonight’s race did Raja kth and until turn four it looked like he was going to be on the pole he was shooting through turns three and four and just got a little bit tight late and that cost him a chance at the pole another lap before we go green so let’s get a break in and we’ll be racing when we return to Charlotte Motor Speedway back at Charlotte getting ready for race 700 in Series history for the crashman truck series what a ride yeah that was four-time Champion Ron hor run One race number 100 and 300 sandwiched around Ted Musgrave another champion winning 200 how about our guy Clint Boer winning a home game in number 400 another champion wins race number 500 Austin Dylan and you know Kyle Bush’s name’s got to be on that list W 66 of them or something like that how did he only get one that’s that’s incredible my not have run the other he certainly didn’t run race number 100 well that’s true that’s true Jack wood impressive so far today thank you guys another fast truck good we so far ex here you guys down there and we should have ourselves a good one at home thanks for the hard work this is tense time though Adam you know the trucks were slipping and sliding like we said in practice we’re at America’s home for racing but the America’s home for racing gets very dicey when you try to go three wide and I’ve seen these truckers a lot they’re going to go try to go three wide on this start to get some spots starts and restarts absolutely out of control at Charlotte Motor Speedway it’s been a long day for these teams but we are ready to put the green flag in the air and turn them loose front row all about Trion garage Tanner gray on the pole for the first time in his career he takes the inside Lane here we go from CMS nice break there for gray Ed that bottom line to get a nice push from maesi and look on the top Here Comes Roger K to the back of Cory Heim Hur they’re oh off the road 77 made an aggressive move some contact and he’s lost a ton of momentum I don’t think Lane rggs knew that he was going to be there Lane was in the 38 truck and I think C made a good decision there he started to dive in there three wide said it’s too early it’s not there’s not enough room he backed out of the gas and kept from having a big crash down into turn three he settles in in the seventh position appropriate for number 77 look at Matt Crafton he’s going to jump down make it three wide try to move by Grant impinger in the nine truck couple of veterans doing battle there right behind Nick Sanchez and the two the 17 is Taylor Gray Matt Mills in the 42 in front of them dancing around Brett mopin to the bottom of three wide on the inside in that green and white truck watch this decision he had a big run big draft and goes to go the bottom and says Ah I don’t think there’s room backed out of the gas and I’m glad he did Lane rigs was wanting to make sure there wasn’t enough room for to do that these are the drivers coming from the back Tyler anram had the spin in practice we’ve covered this or in qualifying rather we’ve talked about the situation for Christian ekis and as those two teammates drive from the back it’s teammates Racing for the lead the 11 is Cory Heim trying to get on point here he goes inside of the 15 at Tanner gray yeah the 15 got in the corner really hard but lost his momentum through the center of the corner that’s going to allow kyheim to grab this lead these two have driven away away pretty nicely from third place running Tom maesi got a nice Gap there when Cory hin qualified this close to the front starting on the front row with his team teammate I said he could be really dangerous tonight I think we’re seeing that right here he was pretty dangerous last week he was what a run to the checker flag that was for him I think we called him time about 50 laps before the checker flag and that’s exactly how it went down 91 is Jack wood coming off a career best last week 12th at North wilksboro right side of your screen you see teammates Christian egas the 19 anram and the 18 battling that’s back for the 25th position and a couple of trucks ahead of them their other teammate that started out back Daniel Dy he’s been able to get through traffic better than ekas and there is a good view out at the back of Danny’s truck you know one thing you see on that rear Spore of the trip remember this is the first race of the Triple truck challenge $50,000 bonus to the winner of this race D making another move around Stephan Parsons to the bottom this truck is fast plus 13 already Mich for Daniel Dart there in that blue truck in the inside behind bayy Curry there’s Ben rhs who won this race a year ago looking to get his season on track as we’ve talked about battle for the 10th position bayy Curry going to try to grab that spot back back from Ben roads here comes Dean Thompson Dean’s Fresh Off AR knucker series attempt finish in the top 10 Bailey Curry get loose hang on to her Bailey and how how about Ben Road realizing that bayy Curry was loose and gave him the room he needed to keep that from being an accident that was just a smart heads up veteran move Champion move that’s how you win championships you got to be situationally aware of what’s going on and you have to F some things you can’t even see them bill let’s go to Jamie listening in to the conversation between Tanner gray and his team it’s his spotter Coleman Presley who talked him through the start then talked him through the move that Cory Heim was making around him but once he settled in Coleman told Tanner he said you’re behind somebody that’s going for a championship right now get behind him see if you can learn anything Tanner responded and said I’m getting free I’m getting free and Coleman said everybody is right now just try to learn the Tanner’s just soaking it all in and maintaining what he’s got guys Cory Heim has led the last five laps after Tanner gray led the first three from the pole rest of the top five Ty jesi Raja kth Taylor Gray trying to move up ran a upon Conor mozak and that seven couldn’t finish the deal Bailey Curry the 41 look at that behind him look at how high he went in the corner that’s a different line that he’s experimenting with see if he can get some momentum up top down this front straightway way had a little bit of a gap behind him felt like he was had an opportunity maybe to try something to see if it worked didn’t lose any ground I love that man you got to see what’s out there make these oh that’s a big squeeze there Dean Thompson ran Jack wood up the hill and that’s going to cost Jack a lot of momentum and a lot of spots yeah Jack got sideways he’s going to lose all his momentum going to lose about three more spots that to get your attention with oh my man Ken Honeycut was sa on that wheel down on the inside of Scott rig’s kid Lane I was like thank you Michael you made me feel better about myself it was just a tease knew what he was doing he knew that’s where Lane got loose excuse there it’s showing that it’s down for where it needs to be got to go 12 lap and and hopefully it doesn’t all the way die out on him and get a get get the crew to take a look at it this first stage break and you would think that situation would not get any better doesn’t appear as though it’s hurt the performance of that truck yet he’s worked his way to the top 20 from the back but problems for Christian ekas Cory himim leading 12 to go in our opening stage seven laps to go it’s the opening stage for the Craftsman Truck Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway Cory Heim is leading by 4 seconds over second place Tanner gray but it’s Kaden Honeycut who’s really putting on a show he has worked his way to Third and looking for second racing that 154 position look at a 45 go Michael and I been watching the lap times consistently the fastest truck on the racetrack he ran the fastest lap the last lap with a pass on Raja Karu he has just been incredible let’s go down to Amanda I talked to Kaden about that little mistake that he had in practice with Christian and how he puts it behind him and he said well first thing I did was go over in in person and apologize to Christian but I come here to win races I have to let this go I talked to Al earlier in the week about Ken Honeycut he said I see a lot of this man in Ros chest and Carson josar some pretty big shoes to fil but a lot of expectations on Kaden for motp well Adam anytime Ross or Carson get in that 45 truck it’s it’s fast they go straight to the front and it’s really cool that they found a young kid from Texas could could get behind the wheel and show that same type of speed this is really fun to watch this is how Stars Are Born we’ll talk to Carson about that in a little while but this is the reason why you see Ross Chastain run on Sundays and you see CH Ross and both Carson run on Sundays and this could be the first the next guy that gets to do that Phil gold is is the common denominator there for Ross for for Carson and for this Kaden Honeycut right now who’s all the way up to the second spot nice has nine wins all time eight of those with Phil Gould on the pit box so he knows what he’s doing there’s no question about that I just love the versatility of the 45 he goes up high if he needs to and he’s able to run right on the bottom as well three to go stage one Cory Heim has led 24 laps LED 49 laps in this race a year ago finished second overall one stage one was second in stage two so Heim knows his way around Charlotte Motor Speedway we talked to him during our practice of qualifying show and he said he really needed to improve on last year finished second that’s right putting a lap on Timmy Hill Timmy’s Runing the 29 position Brett Holmes is just ahead continues for ekas there yeah that’s a good barch through the field got to get him up inside the top 15 I would think if before this stage started you was said if you can get in the top 15 at the end of the first stage will you be happy I think he would have been happy about that but if he has an alternator issue or a B issue that could unfortunately hurt him as we go forward he might have to line up and do the same thing all over again Phil that’s right start at the back they have to work on that truck final lap stage one it’s more than a 4 second Advantage for Cory Heim honey cut a second Tanner Gray from the pole to third Raja kth in the fourth position final truck inside the top five is Tai majesu he won last week at North wilksboro and he’s picked up where he left off he’s going to get his fifth stage win of the year and for the second straight season he went stage one at Charlotte Cory hin delivers in this first 30 lap run of the night honey cut second gray k maesi getting points in the top five Lane rigs was six Chase pie seventh Dean Thompson Vin Rose Conor mosac the rest of the top 10 in this first stage of the night that stage win for Cory Heim ties in with Kyle bus for the most this season pit stops when we continue from Charlotte opening stage complete in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 Cory H delivers the green and white Checkered Flag kayen Honeycut was second that’s his best ever stage finish here’s the stage Point breakdown Tanner gray much needed stage points came in right at the cut line and most of his competitors did not get stage points so going to be a big game for Tanner gr two for Ben roads right so that’s good he he take all he can get when you consider where he is in the lineup with six races to go to the playoffs we’ll get pit stops ending stage one we start with Jamie how the first that will make it to the pit box will be in subot number one which is Tanner gray his biggest complaint was that he was just a little too edgy he said that if he didn’t have enough security so what is screw Chief Jeremy Donnelly is doing is just going to tighten him up a little bit but doesn’t want to hurt turns one and turns two especially at the start of this step so just very slight adjustment Raj akaro he said that he was just a little they’re going to try and just make a couple of small adjustments he said otherwise it’s all okay Amanda well it looks like things are going well for the 45 and 11 so far on the bottom right there on the 45 at Kon Hut he’s really been working on that relationship with Phil gold in his fifth race with Neath Motorsport as you see Cory Heim off the team did tell him to stop short of his box to make sure he had a clean exit as you saw there you see maesi coming out of the pits and Raja Kut off in the grass Tanner GRE goes plus two great stop for the 15 minus one for Heim Honeycut goes one one in the wrong direction plus three for Chase pie let’s watch what happened to his teammate this is a mess trying to get out of the pits I think Lane rig is going to pull out of his pits and just pulled to the grass like nobody’s there unfortunately there were two other trucks on the outside of him see Taylor gry leaving his box there let’s hop on the board with 71 and watch this action we’re ready for stage two when we come back to Charlotte we did it at Kansas so we thought we’d run it back inviting Carson hos ofar up into the truck series Booth so good last year driving in the trucks in fact he was real special right here at Charlotte Motor Speedway great to have you with us once again call in the action here on FS1 yeah I appreciate it uh you know what a beautiful night we’ve had obviously that 45 truck of kateen Honey Cuts really fast well you jumped right in there a little bit aren’t you you’re a little bit envious a little bit but also too a little bit of gratitude right similar setup I know Phil and them and they have the similar setup that we built two years ago so we ran it the same year ran it back and obviously they ran it back here and it’s still working so it’s nice to know that uh you know a little bit of homework copying throughout the years is doing well for that 45 team right now and what pace he’s had I mean we watched him run the fastest lap times lap after lap so this is going to get good these restarts though Carson you know how crazy they are you’ve lived it what kind of advice would you give Kaden right now the young racer that had that little bit of a mistake can practice earlier today how do you calm him down in this situation oh I mean the biggest thing is just staying calm Michael it’s so easily you know it’s so easy to spin those tires it’s so easy to get a bad restart here it’s so important the bottom is so such an advantage we saw it even on the new tires that the Top Lane it’s so easy to spin the tires so easy to get put back and all of a sudden you got them swallowing you up you lose two or three spots and now you’re stuck in dirty air and it’s so technical here especially with clean air especially through one and two you’re almost wide open throughout the Run especially the really good trucks they can stay almost wide open but when you get those bumps it gets the thing upset gets the nose off the ground and then all of a sudden it starts taking off even more because you get in the dirty air so it’s such a value let’s go down to Jamie while we were at break Raja kth had to make a second Pit Stop reason being was the damage after the contact that occurred when he was esing his pit stall as he came down pit Lane he asked his spotter Joe Campbell he said was there anything that I could have done differently to avoid that he was told no you could not they already apologize for there there absolutely nothing wrong with your truck put your head down and go Adam Christian ekis extended stop we talked about their problems he restarts in the 28th position Timmy Hill got the free pass so he’s back on the lead lap and that tire That air and just forced him up top of three Conor mosac getting racy in the seven Lane rigs hanging tough inside the top 10 there he isn’t at 38 Dean Thompson wants to sniff of that outside honey cut shuts the door on him there’s that seven of moak you’re talking about atam strong run early and you get such a run down the back straight away but with that run you pay a price you’re going faster through the bumps so you have to really keep an eye on your car as you see Dean he’ll miss the bottom here and the seven might have a run back here on him two drivers here doing double duty Randy arker talking about Thompson Taylor Gray actually moac rather look at this battle for the lead Cory this looks like the start of the race Adam Tannery did a nice job on the break got the lead he did it again but he’s got a company there we know how fast that 11 was he row off to a 4 second lead three wide on the right side of the screen how about that five of Dean Thompson got him two for one gets by huny cut and Lane rigs man Michael you don’t really get a shot here to get a reset right you make a mistake or you see a truck go by you’re like man I wish I could have that one back Tanner gets an opportunity here to be able to learn and and try to see what he could do differently to hold off this 11 but man Cory’s so good right now Dean Thompson inside the top five but here comes a battle for the lead 10 laps LED tonight for Tanner gray but he’s had a hard time keeping his teammate behind him just like in stage one H bides his time and then pounces here he is for the lead Tanner putting up a good fight though uh you know trying to stay on that right rear quarter panel just to at least try to keep him at Bay but Cory just so good right now even with loose still driving away right now just super fast right now and doing a really good job as we got three wide yet again with Conor mosette man the 45 so good on the long run but it seems like he’s just lacking a little bit on the short run here Daniel die getting with it from the rear of the field he squeezed through and made it three wide and completed that pass try to move to the inside of Jack wood in the 91 that’s for a position inside the top 10 can he complet it hold her down Daniel sideways working that throttle did you hear him man that’s such a tough spot he was probably going for a slly job there and thought he was going to clear it and there’s really not a lot of opportunity to back off and recommit right and uh you you just see he was almost committed he gets that one he drives away and now he just loses two and maybe three here there’s been so much movement in this race you introduced Ty Dyan to the conversation Nick Sanchez is back up there and mozac and Honeycut just can’t get away from each other in the seven and 45 they’ve settled it atam have they yeah for now they’ve got it settled honey cut says I’m going to take that spot and run with it and I’ve been impressed with Dan so far today you know he started in the back able to move forward here able to reset himself here and now back on the offense after getting his truck under under wraps and getting it back handled he’s done a really good job so far and we talk all we talk all season what a difference the season makes just so much better this year so much more uh poised this year doesn’t make any mistakes and really running to Fourth here racing inside of Tom maesi there right in front of this battle for fourth Chase Pretty doing a really nice job with that 77 truck he really is here he is right there left side of your screen got a little bit of debris on the grill have to keep an eye on that water temperature yeah it should be all right where it’s at but he’s done a really good job so far today started sixth seventh in stage one and now third he’s done a really good job and obviously he wants to continue to get better he’s seen a lot of his teammates go home with trophies you know that still weighs on you it makes you hungry right you want to get better you want to improve and try and get that trophy for your team and put one on the B for yourself and we talk about what Daniel D has been able to do this year same situation last year for Chase pie Market improvement over the year before look at the biggest mover plus 12 for Roger yeah he’s done a nice job of rebounding from his problem with Pit Road you saw him working on that Fender he’s got a really fast truck and he’s making uh great moves up through the field he’s trying to crack back up toward that top 10 Raj has done a good job this year he’s he he’s in a similar boat to how I was last year you know you hear all this talk about you know when you get that win when you get it you know you’re going to win all these races and he did he did win it right but it’s not over you still hard to win these races and he’s just learning how tough it really is you know he’s just resetting his mindset here I’ve talked to him obviously in the shop and he does a really good job really a student at the game and and really trying to reset and get back into Victory Lane he’s done a really good job so far today nice move there for Dean he’s going to grab that fifth spot a little bit aggressive the way he slid up get your attention if you’re the guy on the outside doesn’t doesn’t it Carson when a guy just moves up like you’re not even there it does especially on exit you get really frustrated when your guy on the top because you know you’re still fighting that car the guy’s next to you you’re fighting the air and all of a sudden he slides up to you in front of you that nose takes off and really then you’re frustrated you’re more mad you lost a spot but also too that you almost put your stuff in the wall and and this right side of this truck is so valuable you can’t lose that right side side force and it really puts you in a BAL spot if you do lose it Dean Thompson is one of the four drivers that ran earlier tonight in the Arkham Berard series and three of those four right now are running up in the top eight positions let’s get a report on the 19 of Christian eka Amanda yeah when Christian on the radio was talking about the volage what it actually ended up being was the alternator was disconnected that has and the Vol back over as he’s back on track give him the award for most trucks past the night he starts at the rear after the problems in practice drives it to the top to 15 the extended pit stop and here he is again trying to get back to the top 15 again toward the end of stage two 17th right now in that 19 truck and what a lucky break for that to have come unplugged if they had to change that alator they could not do that on a caution lap so big break for Christian ekas we still got a lot of racing to go he’s got a lot of time to get his way on through the field really fast truck his lap times right now are top five times Daniel die wow that was a nice nice dive into turn three and he was able to hold the bottom that was the most impressive thing about that move he entered low but he was able to keep low and keep that nose right on the white line that’s going to get him up to a a point paying position in the stage he’s tth now Jamie yes and you know I talked to Daniel about the progress you guys were talking about that he’s made this season compared to last and he said really he had to take a deep look inside of himself and he realized the opportunities that are in front of him and he said really I just had to get my head out of the sand he said I wasn’t doing anything to help myself for the team and this year he’s putting in the work and the effort and it’s really all starting to pay off Adam and he needs those stage points because he came in 17 below the cut line two to been cleared to continue on with this race that’s what you call heart and passion isn’t it he tried to wrestle that can out of that truck and went down but yet bounced back up and he’s going to continue that just shows he’s a racer right we just do whatever we can and and think think after right 13 of Jake Garcia over the wall too soon he too will have to come from the back here free pass with our second cost of the night Mason Massie 30 trucks on the lead lap we’re ready for the final stage H Tanner gray on the front row the 11 in control good restart from both lanes right here just remember the intensity picks up with every lap that goes by these restarts this one the next one they’re just going to get crazier and crazier as you see Cory time moving up the hill and grabbing that lead off turn two hello Conor moac in the seven mosac did a really good job there his nose was so high pushing the 11 but 15 with a run here tough spot to do that be aggressive knowing that’s a teammate but gets off of four really well Tyler anram in the wall fad Moffett in the 46 wow that’s a big impact there Keith McGee involved looks like Jeffrey nhart now there’s the Earnhart truck lot of damage to that truck this was happening just outside the top 15 they were racing there when the incident occurred window net coming down of Tyler such a strong start to the season for Tyler he’s had nothing but bad luck here lately bit of a bounce back last week at North wilksboro but the problems today had to spend in qualifying tried to come from the rear and unfortunately not going to have the ending he wanted it hasn’t been for a lack of speed they just had a badle lot three finishes 20th or Worse going into last week at North wisborough could we tell stage three started guys tsy definitely picked up a little bit right here just like last year you go stage one stage two caution free you get in the final stage all bets are off and as you said a little more aggression and we have our first caution for an accident on the night see Jeffrey in there moving around getting ready ready to climb out of that truck what a tough break for him right mhm and there’s McGee had two guys just trying to grasp and get rides right so tough night to them to end here see if we can see where this starts oh didn’t it’s already well happened yeah an it was way down there yeah that’s strange B mfit coming in nowhere to go really landed in his lap here yeah anram com straight up the RAC trck right in front of B moff in the 46 that there a bunch of hard hits for these guys look at all the damage to the front of that truck of that moffa and the right side of anr’s truck I imagination is is is running wild trying to figure out why he was so low if he was hooked or a flat tire or something cuz obviously it happens you know just before the corner yeah he must have got hit on the back straight away maybe a bump draft gone wrong see already crashing and then bam a hard hit for Dad right there didn’t have anywhere to go saw Keith McGee come in to make contact check out the middle of Tyler anram oh he gets he gets hooked yeah he went to move up the track a little bit and there was someone there was that mofet Y and then watch this Moffet that Moffet had committed to the top and that’s where anram went then McGee came along made contact with them and then caught Jeffrey nard in the right rear quarter panel and turned him into the outside wall yeah nowhere really for those guys to avoid right you he’s way down there you think you’re safe you can stay in the throttle try to get up and going around him and then all of a sudden he lands in your lap and then he comes back down the racetrack you know tough for them but um yeah I mean tough break for anram right so good this season leading the points for the first time and uh you know it’s just really just started to go down hill you he can start as good as it can but also too can realize how what the reality can be in this sport right we’ll take a break just underway in the final stage and under caution our third of the night Cory Heim leading at Charlotte tonight marks the first of six races to go to the playoffs it’s a busy time of the year for the tailgaters yeah we’re right in the right in the middle of a five race stretch here our first race was in Kansas with corim going to Victory Lane and then Ros Tain won Darlington in the 45 truck back up to Historic North wboro Speedway now we just bump down to Charlotte about 80 miles away and then we’ll head to the Gateway to the West St Louis how you like our pickup truck Carson it’s pretty cool isn’t it it is very cool right I this is tough on these teams to go five in a row luckily there’s a lot close to home but this is tough on these teams especially the small teams so to be able to be committed like this it really just tells how how good the and how much death these teams do and really have we don’t have the king cap Carson Phil Michael and me we set three across the the front there you’re going to have to set the back lengthy clean up at Charlotte will’ll knock out another break we’ll talk strategy when we come back what are these teams going to do here I’m not surprised Carson was dancing in the break but Phil was even giving it up over here we needed that on camera are are they listening to the same thing we are he’s had a couple of trucks come down top off with fuel nobody else coming down getting that final set of tires where do where do we think this is all going to shake out final St we talked about it during the break we saw Kaden Honeycut come down Pit Road as well as Jake Garcia good move they were towards the back of the pack anyway they’re the ones that were the penalty trucks from the previous pit stops so they just topped off with fuel that means they will need less fuel when they come in again so that may open up the Playbook a little bit Carson yeah it just puts more Tools in their in in their toolbox right it just gives them a little bit more options a little bit more changes that you know they could go long they if they get allow themselves to maybe catch a yellow but and they could also too you know maybe just take fuel only if they need that little and and just a lot of different factors that could play into it here and and being risky cuz you know you had a truck that could contend for the win Keith McGee Jeffrey nhart released from the Care Center good news there they were involved in this caution we talked about the Playbook Nick Sanchez just got called to Pit Road they’re putting fuel in that truck and see they’re lifting up the left side seeing if they can squeeze just a little bit more fuel in it and also getting a report from the radio that maybe there’s a loose lug one of the wheels isn’t tight they’re surveying that yeah I think this is a great call again we only have 59 laps to go we talk about the pit window being 50 to 55 we we’re going to save a little fuel on this caution lap right here for all these teams that came down Pit Road they may need may need a handful of more caution laps and maybe get in their window to make it thata had problems all night starting with practice earlier he just came to Pit Road got four tires so he’s saying this is our chance to use strategy to get up front I tell you the big winner in this Ken honeyy he just came down Pit Road put fuel in it with the way the chws worked out a lot of people weren’t sure and whatnot with how many people just came down under the one to go he gained like four or five rows right here so he has more fuel than everybody and is probably further up than he would have in a normal choose scenario he’s the highest Place truck right now that pitted on this carau a whole lot to watch as we go green one more time the one thing that hasn’t changed the two at the front teammates again himim and Tanner gray 58 laps to go at Charlotte good restart from Tanner gray to stay up next to him but Conor mosac had a shot here see if he can’t do the same thing here again Dean Thompson peing to the top there trying to take him three wide look at The Squeeze Play up there Ben rhs up the middle right in the center of the screen couple of forward side by side rhs with Lane rigs look at that push from roads four wide right there almost wait a minute he doesn’t have any well else to go he’s right on the bumper magesy but a nice push on chase py by Ben rhods Daniel did a really good job sticking to the bottom there maybe get one or two as you see Kan honey cut just in the background of your screen already making moves up forward wow look at Daniel Los in the center shot him right down on the apron able to keep his foot in it though die up the ninth in the running order trying to get eighth away from Ben roads watch this for Matt Crafton up in the Speedy drive you see they three wide ahead of him and oh that’s pretty hard contact that’s going to push that right rear quarter penal that we talk about so much over something that they really needs to lean on for that side Force look at Lane rigs with this big run right here against 30 here wow some good momentum there for Lane like these trucks have a push to pass Michael this is a battle for the fifth position and Lane once more he’s down there her he squeezing him a little bit Daniel die right behind them Ben Rose as well all battling inside the top 10 Daniel might have a run here on the 38 as he they head into one and Daniel doing a really good job just hitting the bottom here putting together good laps and right there Lane got tight and he’s able to get the left rear he might have a shot here to clear him into three and four for how good he’s been on the bottom yeah Lane had to Pedal that throttle lost his momentum let’s see if Daniel can clear him not quite able to clear him now he does now he oh and gets loose chases it catches it laying in the outside wall possibly that’s been Daniel’s strong suit today we got a crash there’s that fright front fender rub man that might that’s probably a right front don’t you think Michael caution number four yeah more than likely result of the damage from hitting turn four w three four laps ago I’d say for sure I was going to say you’re going to notice that the rest of the day but obviously that that was a little bit harder of a contact than even we thought these are these caution laps are going to help all those teams that pitted on that last caution and it could force our leaders to pit now I think we got to pit I was going to say I was going to say it might be a game from them but actually it might not because they allow this leader to get on the same fuel cycle as them but they’re going to have track position over him and we know how fast Cory H is out front let’s put him back in the pack and give us a chance Crafton running 15th when he got into the wall and there goes that tire Matt Crafton in the last 10 mile and a half races at him he finished in the 15th or better in nine of them so this has been a strong suit and uh that streak comes to an end tonight you’ve been talking to Larry mcgold that’s one of my McNuggets let’s go to Amanda tying from been released from the care center after that hard hit and Tyler it’s been a tough day for you I know you’re not happy with where the season has been for you of late how are you managing the frustrations day by day uh I’m not going to repeat what what I said after Texas but same thought process um you know we had a pretty good weekend at North wilksboro and plan on Jack put in underneath the truck it’s not working he has to go back over pit wall to get another Jack how about the hustle though how about the athleticism too that Jack doesn’t weigh weighs more than 30 pounds and he just running around there like it’s nothing unfortunately with all that lost time Cory came out just about the last truck off of Pit Road so he’s going to have his work cut out for him and there is a lot of strategy plays there we saw earlier when Kaden honey came to Pit Road to get gas he came and just got gas again which just ensures that he’s going to make it to the Finish he’s one of the first trucks off Pit Road Jake G Garcia with Rich Lucius calling the shots he did the same thing they were those drivers at penalties earlier that had lost their track position and that’s really what encouraged them to get out of balance on strategy you know Cory heims just seen the front of this field all night long Phil and now that he’s back in the pack that truck’s going to handle differently he’s going to have a fast truck we know that but that’s a lot of trucks to pass in a short period of time the lowest he’s been I think is second right in this race yes top seven trucks stayed out seventh Christian ekis on tires our race leader Chase perie Jamie yes they chose not to come to pit lanane and the reason being they feel like they’re still about 12 wops short on fuel and as long as we have another caution they’re going to be fine he said I just need you to go out there and just push as hard as you can at the beginning stages of this race they feel like if we get another caution everybody’s going to come back to pit Lane to get tired so they’re not worried about the strategy that they chose they’re going to take this track position for now Adam look at those drivers up there in the top seven Mason Massie got a free pass earlier same for Spencer Boyd going to go another lap under caution here and anybody looking to get a little bit better fuel mileage this is a bonus how about Chase py he P it on lap number 63 three that means he would have to go what 71 laps yeah Jamie just he just reported that he’s short yeah I I I got to believe he’s short now we’ve had a number of caution laps since they came down Pit Road Amanda that Moffet has been medically cleared as well and that from your Viewpoint what happened yeah it just looked like the 18 got loose I guess he got spun and went down the racetrack and then came back up and it was too late uh Stevie was yelling for me to stay up here I’m watching the Replay for the first time Steve is yelling at me to stay up stay up stay up and then at the last second I tried to get down but um just nowhere to go there yeah looks like he got spun getting into three I don’t know if somebody tagged him or what and then come back up across the racetrack yeah just unfortunate I hatte it customers Bank was here uh with with their crowd and uh didn’t want to end the night like this but uh we’ll move figure out a way to use strategy to gain track position to be able to have the best shot to get the win here in Charlotte we’ve got got them all over the board right now you know these teams up front here that did not take tires on this Pit Stop you know that opens up the playbook for them if we get a caution with 20 or 20 laps to go they’ll have a set of tires to put on where most of these teams will not and I just want to give the viewers at home a little heads up and alert this restart is going to be nuts because we got trucks that haven’t been up front right up front laps are winding down Charlotte Motor Speedway Michael Walter Phil Parsons I’m Adam Alexander Amanda Buck Jamie how handling the work down on Pit Road this race has got shaken up turned upside down a lot of different strategies we’ve had several different players at the front here in the final stage but look at Cory Heim from 27th to the top 10 in six laps after they had that issue on Pit Road yeah I think he’s being forced right now to really show his hand and see how show us how much speed he has in that Toyota well he’s got a lot in it Phil he’s been the fastest truck on the track every lap even making passes doing so let’s give credit to the Jackman who was so great when things didn’t go their way he has a malfunction and he hustles right over to grab the backup never hesitated too just right to the pit wall over the wall to grab that Jack and look at that athleticism yeah knew where it was knew where the Jack was he didn’t have to look for it you see top left of your screen you see Cory I’m going to grab another spot from Sanchez move him to sixth next truck in his sight is Hit List yeah it’s Stuart fre fre with a strong run in that 52 truck he’s running fifth right now yeah Honeycut just was able to get by freezing just a lap or so AG go when Heim got into the top 10 he was like 6 and 1 half seconds back of the race lead he’s now Sixth and has cut two seconds off of that deficit from race leader Christian ekas yeah Honeycut is another truck that’s on the move as well up to the fourth spot we know what good long run speed he has been a good night for Dean Thompson but outside the top 15 after all the strategy is shaken out Daniel D loose right there he’s outside the top 15 as well he’s had a good strong run but it’s faded here late Tanner gray our pole cter another one of those drivers that lost some track position in the exchange of pit stops but he’s 12th right now see Matt Mills able to get by Daniel Taylor Gray right there in that bright red 17 behind ey and here’s the battle for fifth you know I don’t think he’s going to have to have a caution to get there I don’t think he is either we reserve our right to change our mind this is unprecedented the way he’s been able to motor through this pack well we just didn’t realize how good a truck he had Jamie but that 52 or frez and’s having a good run Jamie yeah they are you know they’re coming off with their best results of the season with that 10th Place finish last week in north wilbor and what Stewart told me earlier as he said this program right now it’s progress in motion we’re slowly ticking away at it they added a new Jackman last week they had their best pck stop at the season by over two seconds so they’re certainly gaining some momentum but still looking to stay inside of the top 10 and don’t bubble and you put seart bre in there and you think well how could that be it’s been a terrible start this season but he’s just been able to fight for every position on the race Ro and now he’s got pretty close Phil from what we’ve been told from Pit Road he had a few caution laps during that last caution when those other trucks came to Pit Road a lot of conversation on the radio about who can and can’t go the distance when it comes to fuel here’s 11 radio SC who up in front of us you think cannot make it that we don’t need pass on track leer and the 75 I don’t think they’re going to be able to make it so we’re racing the 45 right now and the 45 is racing the 75 you see right here on the front straightaway battle for the lead Chase pie got to report the 19 saving fuel Chase pie trying to take advantage crossover move here comes ekas back by that’s not how you save I was going to say that that’s that’s not saving fuel I thought maybe he was going to let him go well I think I think he knows that that uh 11 truck is coming look at this crossover wow these guys are going at it with just 20 six laps to go but them racing for the lead plays into the hands of Honey cut and high who were driving back up through there and trimming that deficit yeah himim a half a second faster than these two guys battling for the lead that last lap honey Cut’s been able to use the same Pace basically that him has in gaining positions and getting toward the front you see right there inside of a second coming he was a second and a half back riding in fourth he gets around Stephen Parsons for third and is now only S10 in a rear talking about the 45 of Kaden Honeycut and Honeycut run the same exact time as Heim Last Time by and they were three1 better than anyone else on the track seim 2.6 seconds behind what was he when he first uh over 5 seconds behind at one time it’s going to be interesting to see if Christian ekas has enough fuel I don’t believe pie does I don’t see how pie can have saved enough fuel from lap 63 seeing our pylon how many laps it’s been since these drivers were on the pit Lane Jamie and just listening in on Chase C team Communications they’re telling them right now just keep digging what doing what you’re doing they have 12 more laps before they’re going to have to come to pit Lane so there is no way they can make it on without stopping for fuel at them just as we anticipated 20 laps of caution since Chase pry came to Pit Road on lap number 63 and they still think they’re 12 laps short there comes Kaden Honeycut in that white truck bearing down on the two leaders 22 laps to go I think right now if you’re Chase py just I think run this thing out run until you run out out of fuel bank on those 20 laps of of caution helping you honey cut is there Finn rhs Brett mofet couple of Series champions Racing for position final spot inside the top 10 yeah grabs that 10th position away from mopet here’s our front three right there what about Christian e we talked to him before the race he said I got a good truck obviously had a problem in practice didn’t qualify and is driven straight to the front you look at Cory Heim he’s now 3 seconds front tire and into the wall he goes I don’t know if this is good news or bad news for Christian ekas because you get the yellow that allows you to save a little fuel but now you’re going to be restarting up front with some of the best we know how strong the 45 has been tonight Kaden Honeycut and Cory Heim is right back in the mix he was three and a half seconds back was going to have a hard time getting there it appeared if we stayed green there’s a lot some some of these teams have tires left too good point another another little little wrinkle yeah and look at look at these guys they’re either going to get those tires or they’re faking yeah 26 trucks still on the lead lap right now I just wonder about giving up the track position here you’re going to have inside of 10 laps to go because of of all you know we talk about all the Laps on the trucks on the lead lap that’s going to be a lot to overcome I mean I think there if there’s 12 14 trucks on the lead lap that’s different but I’m not sure you want to give up that lead I mean Christian ekas is not going to come and give up that lead there’s no way no way and we know we know that that Honeycut you know doesn’t need any fuel he’s got eight extra laps of fuel over Christian ekis corim same situation it’s like bayy Curry might be in spot to get the free pass just about done it’s Charlotte and the final race at this five race stretch next weekend Saturday afternoon St Louis worldwide technology playing host of the Craftsman Truck Series that hurt me yeah it’s one of the more challenging tracks on the little bit of a tight truck tonight but it was the 11 of Cory Heim that said I’m not coming in unless the 45 comes in it will be scrub tires for Cory Heim and lightfield a little bit of an issue there for him I’ll let you guys take it big issues for the 45 of Honeycut looks like the air wrench broke over on the right rear they don’t even have an extra one plugged in let’s see him come down Pit Road watch the rear tire changer he gets he gets the tire off gets the other one on realizes he has a has an issue his air gun came on unhooked or the hose broke and there they set there they sit taking every opportunity for him to win this race with one of the best probably best at least two or three trucks here he’s he’s he’s out now and Phil gold made that call I love that call to come down on and he brought the whole field with him that’s just going to be really interesting on this restart again how jumbled up things are going to be this late in the race ekas and Stephen Parsons restart on the front see an issue lug nuts falling off the left rear oh spinning of the tire himim was going to go yeah I mean the luget was not not on there I’m not sure he got it on there yet wow drama late here at Charlotte that was wild looking second time we’ve seen a bobble on a pit stop for Cory Heim do I have a I have all the wheels tight or what’s what is the deal yeah we got them tight Bud we got them tight there’s one missing and that’s what we saw one missing and and uh the crewmen the crewman tried the best he could to get that one back on but wasn’t able to do so yeah and that’s and that’s plenty plenty of lug nutes to hold that wheel on that that will Rel result in a penalty after the race for the crew chief Scott zipadelli a fine actually but uh but that’ll be fine as far as that tire staying on and that was the right call to let him go if four will hold it for sure in this short of a run and uh he lost track position as it was but not quite as bad as it could have been see the 38 slowing that must be a penalty for the 38 of Lane rigs Raja Cru he had a really fast truck towards the end of that run there you see him right behind steephen in the 75 truck obviously those trucks stay on the racetrack and remember this is the opening race in the trip extra tri truck challenge yeah that’s right $50,000 on the line for the winner tonight Sunday the United Football League is back in Action we kick things off 2:30 eastern time as the DC Defenders take on the Memphis showboats or Michigan battles Houston check for the game in your area it’s only on Fox the showboats only only the top six trucks did not come down Pit Road on this caution we’re getting ready to have the chws lot older tires for those six trucks that haven’t been The Pit Road I’m a race fan and this is going he got those tires on there and man we saw how fast he was on those stickers last time you see him lined up on the inside he’s sixth in line on the inside we saw sticker tires going on that 52 of Stuart fre so we know he’s got new ones how big would it be for him to win late lock himself into the playoffs this is go time some names at the front we don’t always always see there handful of drivers in the top 10 15 looking for their first career Victory front row for the restart it’s going to be Christian AIS stepen Parsons and it’s going to be intense Dean Thompson the first truck the one maybe for himim the race for the lead is on here comes Sanchez inside of eus two on point with eight to go and here comes Stuart freon on his new tires he’s going to do away with eus ekas going in the wrong direction freezing is by Cory Heim driving by there’ll be seven laps to go next time around here comes Raja remember Raja has old tires as well I don’t think these old tires are going to be any match for these guys look at them look at them drive by left your screen Grant infinger making it happen late seven remaining look at Ben rhs mowing through there there’s Cory Heim to grab that second spot from steuart FZ Cory Heim dominant early had the problem on Pit Road that set him back but boy has he been incredible rling in this final stage fighting through the adversity does he have what it takes to get around Nick Sanchez six laps to go corim has plenty of time right now but I think he would like to dispose of him as quickly as we can in case we get a caution and maybe only have an overtime double two lap finish and you know we saw that truck slow as he put more and more laps on his tires very very fast initially and it went away a bit if if Sanchez can just keep him behind him for a couple laps I think he stands a Fighting Chance time it he’s going to try Arro you and stalling you time it make sure the run is there you know D going to have moving around watching his Mir so make sure you it set it up so you get one him to Tanner gray out of shape we stay green this is a great drive by Nick Sanchez we know how fast that 11 got there but he’s holding them off four laps to go in finger to Fourth giv some love to Matt Mills who’s worked his way to the top five Garcia had a penalty he’s seven meekus leading on the restart is falling back to n there’s that 42 of Matt Mills I love the fact that he’s been able to fight his way into the top five here late great job by Matt wow a great job by Sanchez I said it before but this is amazing he knew what was coming but he’s able to stand up and hit the gas and keep it behind him so far Heek now going to end danger of falling out of the top 10 that’s a battle for the ninth spot with mozac right there moac has brought his a game tonight two laps to go Sanchez comes in riding w a momentum despite the fact that they’ve had some problems in the last few races he has five consecutive top 10 finishes this is incredible my number two gam for Chevrolet I mean what could I say more about this team I mean we started off bad we knew it uh did not affect us we went to work we put ourselves in position when it mattered most so this is for Chris Showalter my car Chief um birthday today 700 truck start so this is for him and uh it’s a great to get number two for sure I know you dedicated this race win to him but for you you’re going to go home with the $50,000 check for the Triple Chuck challenge Victory today what are you going to do with it I don’t know probably put it in the savings uh I totally forgot about that so yeah added bonus sweet congratulations he’s going to put it in savings account that’s very mature I’d love that Amanda and there are tears in the eyes of the guy that Nick Sanchez just dedicated the race win to 700 race says Chris where will this one rank it just probably popped to number one but it’s a it’s a long battle you know and it’s it’s about people and I love this group of people and I I’ll do anything for this group of people thank you congratulations that doesn’t mean much to people does it wow you just love Racers and that’s a racer right there been here for every truck race and just does a great job when he’s doing his job and you can can tell the passion and the love that he has for his job and his profession and I’m so glad we got to say hi to Chris and congratulate him and there’s so many of those guys on Pit Road just like Chris that just put their heart and soul in this sport he’s been here for all 700 races his team wins and it’s birthday I mean does it get any better than that and $50,000 extra yeah that’s right back now to Jamie well Cory Heim LED 72 laps in the race today and you’ve had to drive through the field it was quite a show that you were able to put on not enough right there at the end what could you have done different yeah I mean it I mean obviously an eventful day for us uh just felt like it got away from us on separate occasions there I mean we had control of the race and then as soon as you don’t you’re just victim to the the leader and they can control the air and Nick did a great job at you know just blocking my air the best he could so Props to him he did a great job F away the best truck by a long shot just uh when you when you’re behind the leader you can’t do much but I feel like we were able to get through traffic so well and I’m glad I can make entertaining at least but uh doesn’t know it matter for us we finished second but uh he Jes a CH on garage for this bullet I feel like we were so good today uh safe flight to racing just super disappointed um say the least Elite 72 laps wins both stages and while he’s disappointed finishing second because no doubt their Benchmark is to win every week they went a long way in helping themselves with the playoff points and when you look at those regular season standings because he and Christian ekas have been going back and forth in that category so so even though he doesn’t have the big picture tonight with the trophy he goes a long way and helping help helping himself down the road when it goes to winning a championship and I think what he didn’t say was that he felt like that Grace got away from them on Pit Road with the trouble they had on Pit Road and certainly had the fastest truck but here here we go here this is the first issue you had with the Jack he’s going to he’s going to watch this back and say I’ve got a great team I mean that’s effort right there and typically this pit crew was one of the most solid pit Crews on Pit Road obviously a jack mail function you know that’s going to happen every now and then unfortunately that hurt him and then and then the and then the next one you know it’s going to come in issues with the with the lug nuts on the left rear didn’t didn’t get them all on whoa reacted there quickly to get his hand out of that fast spinning hamster wheel looking situation he was in yeah and that just caught him enough cost him enough track position to be behind and Nick Sanchez was able to get the lead and dictate the pace of the race and and he went where Cory Heim probably wanted to go as [Applause] [Music] [Applause] well it’s all done at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Craftsman Truck Series Nick Sanchez is a winner he gets the $50,000 as well in the triple truck challenge he’s 22 years old from Miami Florida Nick Sanchez celebrating victory in the crashman truck series for the second time in his career that’s kind of like hitting the lottery right when you the triple truck challenge yeah yeah $50,000 and remembering how he’s eligible for up to $500,000 now that’s a game changer yes it is if he if he wins that and he says he’s putting that in his savings account then I Holy crap that drive at the end by Honeycutt! Back up to 8th in 8 laps. He’s certainly a force coming up.
i was stoked before Daytona. Then they told us about how the rich mans children got to dodo tunnel testing and all of the extra goodies that the majority of trucks including at least 3-4 i expected to contend, win couldnt afford and my orginal projection of 8-9 winners went poof. I used to watch enm the minute they became available. I waited til i ran out of everything else to watch for this one and it was stage 1 ff,ff,ff 2 minutes. stage 2, ff,ff,ff 2 minutes. rest of race 5 minutes. yeeeawn
