a Wednesday now May the 22nd I’m Joe rer here on the sports grid Network and we certainly appreciate you taking the time to hang with us as we’re getting ready for more playoff games here tonight both in the the NBA game one of the Western Conference uh finals happening here tonight as the Dallas Mavericks are in Minnesota looking to take on the Timberwolves who are coming out of what was an epic seven game battle and finally got past the Denver Nuggets and now they’re at home and got to turn around and take on the Dallas Mavericks Luca donic Kyrie Irving PJ Washington Daniel Gafford in company uh who dispersed of Oklahoma City in six games and they did it I thought uh in pretty good fashion there which makes this series very unique we have a lot on this series coming up we did witness of course last night the Boston Celtics sweating out a victory in overtime over the Indiana Pacers and if that’s what we got in that series I think this series is going to be much crazier a lot of ups and downs but the Celtics if you had Celtics to win in overtime on your bingo card well congratulations because most people thought that game was going to be over in the well in the second quarter for being completely honest but it wasn’t it was kned up at 64 a piece at the break and now as you can see here with some of these series prices uh Celtics up won nothing you can lay 1,800 to win a 100 if you like I I don’t think that’s a great bet uh the Pacers still hovering right around that 10 to1 Mark here but I will say this if you didn’t realize that that is going to be one hell of a series after watching watchingg that last night Styles make fights in the NBA playoffs and it was quite obvious that the two series prior that the Boston Celtics had played in uh didn’t exactly represent a great challenge like the Indiana Pacers uh I am going to be fascinated tomorrow in game two to see exactly what are the adjustments both these coaches make uh will we continue to see high-scoring games fast chess match taking place with Boston and Indiana and I think you’re going to get the same thing here tonight uh with Jason kid doing one of the best coaching jobs I’ve ever seen in his career we know he’s a Hall of Fame player there were a lot of question marks about his ability as a head coach especially here in Dallas uh but I think he’s put all of that to bed after just a masterful job of what he’s done with his team this year during the regular season and the strings that he has pulled here with donic and Kyrie and Lively and some of these younger guys on his team to get him to this point which is of course the Western Conference Final we are seeing the money come in on Minnesota this is four and a halfs now across the board the total is fascinating also both of these teams play great defense Minnesota Elite defensively but uh don’t sleep on the Dallas defense uh ever since they traded for Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington this defense has kicked it up a notch now neither plays with tremendous Pace but because both defenses get at it they have had opportunities in games to get a lot of transition buckets to get out quickly and get some easy buckets well the market it doesn’t think it’s going to be that easy here tonight we are seeing 206 and halfs 207 207 and a halfs uh I would not be shocked if more over money comes in before the opening tip if if it’s the one thing we know about teams coming off a game seven who are favorites in game one of the next series at home those games tend to go over in fact over the last decade the over is 11- one in those series and it makes total sense when you think about it no matter how good defensively you are going through a grueling seven game stretch like Minnesota had to do against a very physical Denver Nuggets team well guess what the legs are a little tired Dallas has got more rest now since they closed it out and six so they have a rest Advantage here Dallas obviously has enough fire power to be able to get theirs I would not Shock Me the least bit that this thing gets into the teens 216 215 somewhere in that ballpark there I do not think this is going to be first to 100 wins I think both these teams will have some success especially Dallas early in this game we’ll keep an eye on that market for you also some of the team totals in this game are really interesting including the Dallas Mavericks uh with a first half team total of just 51 and a half I’ll say that again a first half team total of just 51 and a half and you might think that’s ludicrous considering we have well uh we’ve got guys like Luca donic healthy and anybody who doesn’t think Luca is healthy did you watch the final two closeout games there against OKC where he dropped 31 and 29 I think the extra rest is helped him and I think Luca and Company are going to be raring to go as underdogs here tonight in this one the story lines are great and again uh in just another uh 8 to 10 days whoever wins these series Boston Indiana Dallas Minnesota will be playing for an NBA championship also same situation in the NHL and Joe Madden will be joining us here this hour talking some NHL best best as the Eastern Conference Finals kicks off tonight at Madison Square Garden as you can see from that it’s uh it’s pretty much a pick them folks minus 110 on both sides the market so much for home ICE Advantage here the market doesn’t think there is such they think these two teams whether it be here whether it be in Florida there’s not a lot separating these two teams and this seems like the series that everyone has been anticipating since earlier in the year these were the two two top teams in the East uh all year long for at many points and many stretches throughout it and now of course Florida who made it to the finals last year as a huge Underdog let’s not forget they were not supposed to get past Carolina they weren’t supposed to get past Boston and the rest as they say is history they ran out of steam and couldn’t get past Vegas in the Stanley Cup finals but they have an opportunity a little wiser a little deeper a little healthier than they were a year ago and the New York Rangers while Ranger fans are beside themselves because they too have been waiting for this moment a New York Rangers team living up to the hype and kendai and will they uh get it done here they are the Rangers by the way 4- one at Madison Square Garden this postseason but also the Florida Panthers 4- one on the road this postseason so I do think it’s priced correctly I don’t think there’s a whole lot separating these two teams obviously the people between the pipes are certainly going to play a huge uh role in how this series goes I do think it’s going to be six seven games I think the Panthers and bosski more experienced here and we’ll see if that plays a role I also think they’re a little more physical than what the Rangers are they o take a lot of unnecessary penalties and that could be a problem giving the Rangers a whole lot of man advantages but there is so much to dive into in that series we’re looking forward to that we’re looking forward to Joe Madden joining us here to break down those that game as well as the Western Conference finals coming up tomorrow we’ve got plenty of Major League Baseball on tap here tonight couple of games already in the books but we’ve got plenty on this Wednesday I’m Joe rer certainly appreciate you stopping by as we’ve got a handful of Major League Baseball games already in the books here the Cardinals have now taken that well I guess that makeup portion after the game got postponed uh or suspended last night because of rain in St Louis well uh good night sleep didn’t H the uh help the Orioles the Cardinals ended up winning that game 3-1 looks like they’re actually ahead in game two right now as well 54 as a matter of fact it just uh came final 54 so the Cardinals uh two wins in one day against the Orioles that is disgusting and how about the Guardians 63 over the Mets that one is a final but we’ve got plenty of games getting ready here opening pitch and Joe Madden stepping in joining us here on Game Time decisions and Joe we got uh some interesting games coming up uh that remain we’ll we’ll start in the Bronx with the Yankees uh who have done nothing but cost me money over the last couple of days here apparently Seattle’s this some sort of Juggernaut I had no idea that this was going to be the case here I thought the Yankees owned them but uh they do have an opportunity to get one here tonight but I don’t you’re not necessarily looking at a side here what do you think we’re going to get here with nasty Nester on the mound I’m not looking at a side because you look at the yanes here and they should be the way this team is yet to lose three games in a row this season but we know weird things can happen and I’m not willing to lay the juice with the Yankees at minus 156 so I’m looking at Neer Cortez to come out nice and strong but I also think Bryce Miller can now Bryce Miller needs to come out extremely strong for my bet here because the last time he faced the Yankees he got absolutely lit up that erra skyrocketing over 15 of versus them in that um I think it was eight or 21 Innings so he’s come out a couple times it’s enough times to show that pattern but I do think in this you look at the Nerf fee here you look at the no runs in the first inning that’s coming in at minus 115 I expect both of these pictures to come out strong enough in the first to limit either side and then I do think the Yankees get the win but this will be one where if Seattle’s able to go up a first here I doubt it because it is Nester Cortez but if they’re able to hit him in this one that I’m going to come back in on the Yankees when we’re getting plus money I do think they’re the right side I do think they pull it out in the end because you look at the Bullpen it’s a stronger Bullpen here for the Yankees than we do have for the Seattle Mariners so we have uh an interesting one with your Toronto Blue Jays here tonight this is the final game of his six game Road Trip for the white socks who well I guess it started by getting swept at Yankee Stadium they split a couple of games including that game last night in which Toronto got blanked but now Basset on the mound for Toronto here he is usually pretty good at home it’s the road numbers I’m always worried about are we back in Toronto here to get the series win no when was the last time they won a series over 30 days ago Joe I can’t get behind the Toronto Blue Jays especially again at this price you look at the price the books want you to lay you’re going to have to lay the Run line here with Toronto I would take the white socks plus the one and a half before I looked at the Toronto Blue Jays laying it I’m going to look at this game a different way I’m going to look at Nick Nick Nini to come out nice and strong for the Chicago White sock and get those strikeouts on the board now this rookie only making his third start he’s 0 and2 and he’s got a high erra but those strikeouts have been coming he’s had eight strikeouts in eight Innings pitched as long as we can get him out there for five six innings in this one I do think he goes over his strikeout number that’s coming in at four and a half and we’re getting beautiful plus money at plus 134 I tell you the Blue Jays offensively they are showing their struggles and I do think we’ll see those strikeouts coming for them today and I won’t be shocked if the white socks get the win in this one it’s great plus money Joe I’m so tempted I’ll probably get to the window on them straight up on the money line yeah it’s uh and now I’m getting all sorts of rumors about uh maybe it’s time for Toronto to trade away uh like vlady and like it’s it’s getting sounds like it’s getting desperate in Toronto here as those bats are are kind of a Co flip you never know what’s going to show up I I think we can say the same thing about Atlanta over this last stretch where they have been an absolute under machine and with that lineup they shouldn’t have a problem scoring runs but they certainly have over the last month freed is on the mound here tonight uh for them do we trust Atlanta in this one here to get a win after losing an extra innings to the Cubs last night oh yeah the Cubs great home dogs yesterday I can’t back them in this one I do think Max freed and the Atlanta Braves are the right side but Joe I’m just going to Target the first five innings here for the Atlanta Braves in in case something crazy happens in the second half of this game laying the half a run in the first five coming in at plus 108 with the Atlanta Braves and Max freed here like you said he’s been so phenomenally strong and looking at him in Chicago he’s been even stronger and steel Justin steel getting the start here for the Cubs I can’t trust him with the amount of earned runs he’s been giving up as of late and I do think the Atlanta Braves bats have to come nice and hard today and I think they’ll catch Justin Steel in this one so I expect the Braves to be up at least a couple runs after the first five here in this one I think you can even Al that total but that laying just a half a run in the first five is plus 108 so not going to get greedy in this one we do have a better Bullpen here for the Atlanta Braves as well they should be able to get things done I trust in Max freed I don’t trust in Justin steel at the moment all right likeing he has gotten hit pretty hard here over the last couple of games good old steel uh Atlanta early for Joe Madden what about uh a game out west in which uh nobody wants to watch uh Colorado and Oakland Oakland came back one last night does Colorado get its revenge here today yeah Colorado absolutely does and if you’re going to watch this game you’re gonna want to bet with some plus money here and I’m going with the Colorado Rockies in the first five innings Joe and then I can turn this game off you’re getting them in the first five at plus 120 on the money line and Austin carber should come out nice and strong in this one he’s been on absolute fire this month he’s one and0 this month 18 and two-thirds Innings pitched he’s only allowed one earned run I do think he can really limit the bats here of the Oakland A’s I don’t have faith in this A’s team offensively and Mitch Spence getting the start here it’s just a game nobody asked for there uh Joe I see you’ve got Dodgers alternate team total over five in a half you’ll be Padres and reds getting ready to go this hour how about the Phillies and the Rangers going tonight uh Walker versus Dunning and the Pirates uh taking on the Giants and Fresh Off The iil is Blake Snell he’ll be going tonight for the Giants boy and they could use him here and so could the Tampa Bay Rays actually the Rays could use a win against anybody that would be uh great right now they can’t seem to figure out the Red Sox Bellow against papit in this one also straight off the iil first start here so the Rays trying to battle here the Giants are going to try to battle uh the Phillies are going to continue to roll at least they hope so a lot going on with major league baseball then of course tonight uh 8:00 eastern time the puck will drop with the Florida Panthers they are getting ready to take on the New York Rangers in Madison Square Garden here and I’m not going to lie I’m in South Florida so uh do like this team a whole lot here I was there when they just ran out of steam against Vegas last year in the Stanley Cup finals but I can tell you uh Paul Maurice and this Panther team pushing all the right buttons very straightforward they’ve got all the things that caused them to fall a little bit short last year were addressed in the off season they are healthier now than they were a year ago but the one thing Paul Maurice needs to make sure to hammer home to his team stay out of the damn Penalty Box if they stay in The Penalty Box and they continue to play like they played all year yikes uh and Florida’s listen Florida’s penalty killing has been pretty good except of course when they took on the Bruins uh that didn’t work out all that well here but you cannot give the Rangers in this round too many man advantage opport unities I can tell you this if they do and I think we’ll have a pretty good idea here tonight exactly whether or not they’re going to I don’t want to say take their foot off the gas but they have to be smart this is a team that loves to play with Reckless abandonment they have all year long they want to be physical they want uh the opportunity to uh you know smash uh the team they’re playing into the boards be uh overpowered but they also there’s a fine line and it’s caught him a few times and we saw that certainly in the Boston series here but listen we’ve also got a team now with tro uh with a whole lot of uh Rangers Chris krider who’s already got seven goals in the play uh in the playoffs they they can get goals in a hurry and the thing with the Rangers in that last series with Carolina is it was kind of amazing how Carolina five on five certainly held their own against the Rangers but the Rangers because they’re so lethal offensively man advantages for Carolina and the Rangers still figured out ways to be able to score goals I have never seen a team in a long time like this Rangers who takes advantage of Mistakes by the other team and makes them pay for it and I’m not just talking once in a blue moon all throughout that series every time it was turned over by Carolina to the Rangers in that zone it cost him a goal uh and the Panthers are going to have to be really really careful about that now the Rangers 4- one at Madison Square Garden at home which is fantastic they’re four- one at home and home ice is supposed to matter but the Panthers have also already shown their ability to win on the road they’re four and one on the road as well so it’s priced accordingly I think this is a series that I feel is going to go seven games I wouldn’t at all uh be opposed to betting the series price uh if you pick your winner uh I I don’t think this is going to go six games don’t think it’s going to go five I think it’s going to go seven so be very very careful with how you bet the series on this goal tending C cly going to go the edge to the Rangers can they or can they solve the Rubik’s Cube that is what it’s going to be with the Florida Panthers and we’re going to know starting at 8:00 eastern time tonight Conference Finals we got game one of the Western Conference Finals in the NBA to look forward to and of course Minnesota and Dallas are going to go head-to-head at it with regards to the Panthers and Rangers I think it’s going to be a great series uh we are seeing some money come pouring in really on both sides the total though seems to be uh seems to be pushing towards the under five and a half and I wouldn’t be shocked if this thing goes flying over five and a half here tonight when it comes to the NBA and Dallas against Minnesota well that might be a different story here as Mark zenno stepping in joining us here on Game Time decisions and uh Zen it’s a interesting totals Market uh for this game here it seemed like it was going to continue to drop and go lower but then a lot of money came in on the old throughout the day pushing it up to 207 207 A2 uh it’s a it’s a fascinating matchup game one especially since Minnesota’s coming out of a game seven battle with Denver so what do we get what are we supposed to expect in this game one here tonight I mean look you have to kind of respect the idea that you know Minnesota coming off an emotional Road win in game seven might be a little bit drained also for me I kind of didn’t really like the way Minnesota was sort of celebrating I mean got past the conference semifinals it’s like you know you haven’t really won anything yet haven’t accomplished anything yet and they seem to have this sense of elation and relief that they got there now that being said you respect Minnesota’s defense here but Dallas has been a tough figure because you know the way that they played they shot against the Clippers versus what they did against Oklahoma City they almost looked like two different teams and they were a much better team against Oklahoma City which obviously was the number one seed in the west here Joe but you know I approach this game when you talk about the total I figure it it’s one of those games where if Dallas is going to steal a game and this is the opportune time to do it on the road they catch Minnesota as I said off this game seven an emotional High where they’re set up for a little let down but I looked at the first half here and the Mavericks total at 52 and a half and and you’re getting kind of a little bit of a discount in a sense because as you said you know the the the first half total you know is 105 uh or 106 and a half rather with it with it moving up and you’re right at 52 52 and a half for Dallas so you’re right in the halfway point and like okay I’m feeling like Dallas if they’re going to be able to stay in this game they’re gonna have to get out and score early they’re going to have to be able to play with a lead early and they’re gonna have to control the tempo and if they do that and score early they’re gonna have a shot and why do I look at it that way because Minnesota is the be best fourth quarter team in terms of defensive efficiency look what they did in the second half against Denver on the road they sh that team down and so Dallas’s only opportunity isn’t to you know fall behind early and then try and come back against this defense I like Dallas to come out set the tone score early three of the four games that they played against Minnesota they got to at least 56 in the one game they didn’t Luca didn’t play and it was a blowout game it was out of hand you know by the middle of the third quarter but I still think that Dallas has to come out early and score here so I played the Mavericks over 52 and a half in the first first half here and I didn’t go the whole game because I said look if if they’re not at that range they’re not going over their team total and the game’s not going over because Minnesota is controlling the pace and the flow so there’s a window here where Dallas can end up at 49 50 51 and I don’t cover the first half number and the game still goes over I think that’s absolutely a possibility that I’m more worried about but I would think that for Dallas like if they’re gonna struggle in the first half they’re going to be kept in that mid 40s High 40s range and and I don’t know if the game goes over for that standpoint so it’s my old adage if they ain’t covering early they ain’t covering late and if they ain’t scoring early they ain’t scoring late so let’s see if Dallas can come out hot here at the better rest the more rested team you know the better offensive team and take advantage early and put some points up here and at least have a a halftime you know lead or a game that’s close around 55 55 somewhere in that range yeah I I love that averaging 54 and a half points uh in the first half throughout the playoffs here and it it’s uh it’s kind of crazy CU When you look at the numbers the Timberwolves have trailed in seven of their 11 playoff games at the half and I know so much was made about Denver can’t oh I mean the Lakers were were leading at the half and all yeah well Denver LED in five of those seven games at the break here the reality is Minnesota’s a team that starts slow and then the defense wears other you know wears them down in the second half so I am with you here I don’t see any reason why I get the more rested team the more experienced team uh you know coming in and doing what they’ve done the whole time I wouldn’t even mind taking the two and a half points in the first half along with the team total overs in no I I kind of agree I mean that that’s the way you have to approach it here uh similar to what you saw from Indiana last night they were able to hang around in the first half they were able to push Boston to the Limit throughout the game I mean you know there was a stretch in the third quarter where Boston looked like they might have pulled away but Indiana got back into it so I I I think if you’re G to steal a game one and you’re going to do it in this spot you have to get out to a quick start and a fast start and I hope that Dallas does that tonight so uh when you look uh here in the future Market here I I think this series is going seven I I just don’t the question is what is either of these two teams going to have left when it comes to taking on the Celtics because I do think both these teams are going to get their pound of Flesh in this series uh I don’t think it’s going to be under five and a half I did bet the over five and a half in the series uh I think six is a minimum here what are you thinking well look I mean it’s one of those things where tonight may decide your entire bet similar to what happened Indiana last night that was a game that they could have stolen on the road they hold home court home court pretty well Indiana does or at least did throughout the Knick series and and managed to uh to steal game seven on the road and you need Dallas to do the same like if Dallas is going to lose this game I almost would like rather it be a blowout right you just figure hey it’s you know they’re on the road and Minnesota’s the better team and you know all those narratives that we buy into but this is the spot here where if this thing is going down the stretch and it’s a close game Dallas has got to be able to finish it and close it out and and they got Luca on the floor Luca played two games against Minnesota this year he had 39 and 34 and if Dallas has any hope of stealing this game that’s the kind of effort you’re gonna need from Luca tonight to Pace this team and you know along with Kyrie and him if they are hitting shots early it’s going to bode well for them down the stretch yeah it certainly is also uh the numbers are pretty clear uh in over the last decade when we get a situation like this the favorite at home in a game one uh they’re a home favorite they’re coming off a game seven uh 12- one to the over in those games there and it makes sense because tired I don’t care how good yard defensively you’re spent uh and the other team with more rest can certainly take advantage so I I do think points could very well be coming tonight but what do we do now tomorrow here what what do we do with this Pacers Celtics series I thought the Celtics were supposed to lose game two after blowing out the team in game one but they look like a deer caught in the headlights last night here does that bode well for pacer fans I mean look I said all along even before game seven in the Nicks Pacers series that the Pacers were actually the tougher matchup for Boston I mean look who Boston played in their first two rounds slow bad offense gritty defense Miami slow average offense gritty defense Cleveland now they’re playing a team that’s second in Pace that runs up and down the floor and I I’ve likened it to that that football coach who you know no matter if they’re down by 20 in the third quarter they’re still running the football because running the ball is our identity and that’s what we do well the identity of the Pacers is just to run back and forth back and forth get out in transition and keep moving and Boston contrary to what people you know believe they don’t play fast they’re a bottom 10 Pace team they’re just super efficient on offense so they score a lot of points they don’t miss many shots so you put all that together Boston’s a little bit uncomfortable they’re going to have to get their wits about them and figure out how to slow down this Indiana team because those games that are getting into the to the one teens and the 120s are not in Boston’s favor they’re really not I mean as much as they have better Shooters you know all around Indiana has just as good as Shooters all around and when push comes to shove if Boston keeps getting in these Pace Wars with the Pacers pun intended I guess they might end up on the wrong side of a couple of these games yeah I I I would not believe they came out in the second half and we’re like all right we’ll still run like this is not Cleveland like stop it Boston stop it it’ll be interesting to see what that first half brings tomorrow we’ll Final action here tonight with Dallas taking on Minnesota we’ve got uh some updates in Major League Baseball we’re going to get to but to finish up on the NBA front here uh Zen we like Dallas to score early and often enough to get us up and over that 52 and a half in the first half but give me a give me a guy or two that you’re looking prop wise that’s going to help us get there is there anybody you’re Focus an in on I was kind of surprised to see Luca’s point total only at 28 and a half I I thought it would be 30 and a half I really did um look he’s had some really interesting performances when it comes to these playoffs in particular when you just kind of look at his numbers and see where he’s been um and particularly when you look at his his numbers against Minnesota but I I think you know if he’s making threes tonight and that’s really the barometer because he was very good from three-point range against Oklahoma City he was terrible against the Clippers he shot just 23.9% from three so let’s see which one pops up if he’s making three or four threes in this game he’s gonna get over that number of 28 and a half easily uh and I don’t know again I I just don’t see them having a great scoring game like if they’re only around 100 102 105 I think Minnesota takes the game now I don’t know if Minnesota covers but there’s certainly a window where Minnesota can get to 110 and keep Dallas to 103 104 and cover the number I think Dallas needs to be closer to 110 if they want to get uh and steal a win on the road and when you look at games like that you’re seeing Luca when they got to 117 he had 29 when they got to 119 he had 29 go back to the the series against the Clippers 123 he had 35 you know um he had what was it uh 28 in the game they scored 114 so he’s gonna be in that high that high 20 range it’s just a question of whether he gets a couple more threes to fall and if he keeps that pattern up that he did against Oklahoma City those threes are going to be dropping and he’ll get over this number I just when I saw the number at 28 and a half I felt like that was a tad low I was expecting to see 29 and a half or 30 yeah I I kind of even his P 45 and a half uh you know he was the healthiest he has looked all playoffs long in the last couple games he dropped 31 and 29 on OKC in uh in that game five and six so couple extra days rest I don’t see any reason why Luca ain’t dropping from all over the place here on a very uh weary Minnesota Timberwolves team coming off a seven game set here uh they’re off and running Major League Baseball here Padres are now on the board uh one- nothing early top of the first there can’t B on the Reds until the Reds show me that all of these young guys who aren’t injured uh can actually hit the ball they got a problem scoring runs here the total was nine I I didn’t understand that either but we you looking at the Padres and the Reds today I mean I I think the Market’s been a little bit slow to react to the Reds after the first month of the season when they were scoring five or six runs a game and you know they’re just not getting there now whether it’s you know and baseball is weird it’s hard for oddsmakers to make quick moves because it could just be a one or two week slum you know and they snap out of it or it could just be a couple of Series in a row that are really good opponents and and they just don’t hit the ball I mean you know it’s hard to know when it’s a real problem and when it’s just a lull in a very long baseball season so typically oddsmakers are slow to adjust and and I think when it comes to the Reds right now we’re still going to start seeing these eight and a half and nines with them because their lineup can hit but you know conversely the Padre’s are a team that is scoring a lot as of late um and and they are putting runs up on the board and they’re doing it via the long ball as well so you know I I sort of understood the nine I mean obviously again it’s a tough number to bet when you get to that key number you’d rather have the eight and a half if you want to take the over but you know Nick Martinez a stter for the red and Michael King the started for the Padres are both pretty much fades for me as far as pitchers are concerned both guys with eras you know near near the cost of a carton of eggs at 4.5 here so uh you know I I think in general when you when you look at these two starters I think runs can be scored off of them it’s just a question of how early again one of those things where it’s like if they’re not gonna put up you know four or five runs early I don’t know if I really want to you know think all of a sudden the bats are going to wake up in the seventh eth and Ninth Innings and start scoring runs so I I’ll always be willing to cut the game in half and I do it here so interesting turn of events here uh with the Brewers and the Marlins uh Peralta on the mound just gave up a leadoff home run to the Marlins one nothing so are we looking at a should we be looking at jumping in on the Brewers right now at plus 150 here pral is still the better pitcher here in this matchup is he not I think I mean I think so yeah look he’s had a rough last three starts after the Brewers had won all six of his first six starts of the year as a team um and he’s kind of Hit the skids here a little bit but this is a Marlins lineup he should be able to dominate I mean this is a team that’s bottom five in Ops and WRC Plus in the season Peralta should have no problem shutting these guys down but you know uh the quot John Sterling that’s just baseball you know you throw a bad pitch and all of a sudden it goes over the fence and that’s kind of what happened here and he comes up with a strike out of the next batter so uh hopefully that’s all they get here I kind of like the Brewers on the first five money line here I thought the price was was adequate um and and given the fact that it is Lardo who’s had his own set of struggles this year uh I know that that Milwaukee is bad against lefties so it was a tough bet but you know I I I was hoping that Milwaukee was going to snap out of it and get to an early lead obviously they’re on the wrong side right now but the Brewers getting back in this thing at least for the full game might be worth a look at this point yeah also might look take a look right now is the Rangers scoring the top of the first off a walker against the Phillies uh and now of course the Phillies flip to a uh to a dog in there so couple of in-game opportunities uh in place there Rangers one- nothing top of the first and the Phils uh also the Yanks are are coming are they going to win a game against does Seattle own them now I’m not quite sure what’s going on here look you know me I’m not a big fan of of playing on Nester gortez and uh Bryce Miller is is a pretty good pitchure for Seattle but it’s the first time all year long the Yankees have lost back-to-back home games so yes uh at that minus 15 55 price range minus 150 range Yankees are as a favorite it might not be worth it might be worth it to actually you know swallow the juice there and and play them because you don’t one you’re not getting that price often you know with the Yankees because they are such a uh a heavy team but when you look at them you know from a standpoint of being a minus 150 favorite or less you know they’ve been pretty so much of what Denver does is on the interior Dallas is also just a much better shooting team because Michael Porter Jr and Aaron Gordon could not buy a bucket in that series the under on 208 pretty self-explanatory Luca is really going to want to slow things down and direct traffic in this series to avoid goar and to get away from Jaden McDaniels in the pick and roll and then to Juice It Up we are going to take Luca and Anthony Edwards both to score 25 or more points in this game feels like rotations are going to tighten we should see 40 plus minutes out of both of these guys 25 points is a good barrier there this four leg same game parlay gives us plus 848 odds Mavs money line under two a weight donic to scored 25 or more and Edwards to scored 25 or more good luck tonight everybody all right good stuff there Davis we certainly appreciate it and All Eyes uh will be on the NBA here tonight for sure as Dallas uh and Luca and Kyrie who both have some experience do they not here when it comes to the uh Western at least the Conference Finals anyway and Kyrie of course has his ring there even though it was uh on the east side of town but Luca has been to these uh this Western we learned today is the reports of Maxi Cleber being available to come back uh hopefully at game three when they are home in Dallas which of course makes things very interesting uh on defending the Dallas Mavericks if uh if the big man Cleber is out there chucking threes up and making them which he’s been known to do uh and also can bang uh on the boards and get a rebound or two that means Rudy goar instead of hanging around the rim might have to go out and actually cover somebody and that’s uh not great news for the Minnesota Timberwolves uh with donic and Kyrie uh playing the old pick and roll so uh very interesting headlines storylines and a lot can unfold here but it starts tonight with Dallas getting ready to take off on the Minnesota Timberwolves as a side note with this uh history has not been kind to these home teams coming off a game seven win so we’ve seen this happen oh I don’t know about uh about a a little over a dozen times here over the last decade in which a team like Minnesota comes off a big game seven win now they’re at home taking on a lower seed they are a favorite 5 and eight straight straight up in game ones over that past decade are teams like Minnesota here and uh if you dig down even a little further where um if you’re talking about a team who’s not coming off a game seven that’s who the underdog is well then those teams like Minnesota in this spot just three and six uh after a game seven and it makes total sense which again is why we told you earlier with Mar Zeno in these game ones with this scenario 12- one to the over in game ones and it makes sense because you can be the greatest defense in the world you got tired legs and you’re a little drained which means a little less defense a little more scoring and I think that’s not a bad way Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves the winner will uh of course of this series will go ahead and punch their ticket to represent uh the Western Conference in the NBA finals and boy oh boy uh Denver last year it feels like the West uh whoever comes out of the West usually has the best chance of winning it all here I don’t know that that is the case this year because obviously we just watched the Boston Celtics do their thing last night although they made a lot of Celtics fans and backers sweat last night they didn’t ultimately get the cover at 9 and a half 10 but they did get the win which is ultimately all that matters and I think the future odds show us that yeah maybe it’s the Celtics it’s the East and the winner coming out of the East uh which is the one uh that will have the best shot at taking it all down as you can see there now the Celtics minus 165 Minnesota just behind them uh Dallas and Indiana now I I wish I could turn the clock back and just rewind it for you so we could at this very point last year with the Miami Heat taking on the Boston Celtics boy those numbers looked awfully familiar just go ahead and take out Minnesota and insert Denver there and boy you would have had where Indiana is right now on the bottom of that the four teams remaining at a uh a monster number look at that number 3600 plus 36 to one yeah Miami’s numbers were even worse uh last year and how did that work out well Miami eventually made it to the finals and lost uh to the Denver Nuggets in five but it just goes to show you that’s why they play the games here and don’t think for one minute the Boston Celtics don’t have that in the back of their head here I mean congratulations Boston you made it to another Eastern Conference Finals who cares you’ve been there for like the last five six years what are you going to do after this well I think they got a wakeup call last night against the Indiana Pacers who showed that they’re not messing around much like Miami last year the only difference between them is of course Miami could play defense and they had uh established stars like Jimmy Butler and others uh a very well- coached team I can promise you Eric spola would not have allowed uh Brown Jaylen Brown to shoot that three uh in the corner last night to tie it so there are some uh bumps in the road but the reality is Boston is not going to be handed anything I think Indiana showed us that Boston is going to have to earn it and to this point they’ve kind of cak walked through uh through the Cavs and through the Miami Heat who were shells of themselves because nobody was healthy well that’s not a problem here is they’re going 10-11 deep with Indiana so depth not an issue for Indiana shooting not an issue for Indiana it’s going to come down to uh mistakes and unfortunately 21 turnovers did the uh Indiana Pacers in last night we’ll see how they bounce back uh in their game here tomorrow but Dallas is hoping to avoid that entire mess uh because Dallas also has not done well in game ones here so far in the playoffs in fact uh it’s been downright ugly in game ones they lost I mean easily by 12 points in both game ones to the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Clippers and then of course they bounced back obviously with winds on the road to tie those series up before they went back home but it has not been good for Dallas in game ones thus far this postseason however I don’t think this is the same old same old they understand the stage is different the rest is different they understand what’s at stake here they have some advantages here in game one I will go on record and say Dallas is winning one of these first two games and heading back with the series likely 1-1 which game will they win well let’s uh we’re going to find out here I do happen to think tonight is there for the taking so if you are remotely considering Dallas tonight and the four and a half make sure that you’re sprinkling a little something on that money line as well because I don’t think the spread is going to come into it with Dallas I think if they’re covering it it’s because they win it outright here tonight so a lot at stake here in both of these and it’s not a bad number to four and a half you can see you can probably get him plus 160 to 170 and somewhere along those lines I also love the fact that Minnesota has trailed in seven of their 11 playoff games at the half this season they trailed against Denver in five of that seven game series there so this don’t think for one minute this is not a Minnesota team that uh does start slow and it’s because the offense is anything but consistent they they’ve been very inconsistent they’ve also been very one-dimensional at times with Anthony Edwards now the what makes Minnesota work so well is the simple fact that their defense tends to wear down other teams and that’s what allows them Allah the Denver Nuggets in game seven allows them to get back into games but Dallas is a different team than the Denver Nuggets and I do think the Acquisitions there Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington at the break have been absolutely tremendous now you couple that with the fact that we haven’t yet got that big Kyrie game at least not last series he was great against the Clippers uh he played a different kind of role in that last series against OKC but we are getting what appears to be a much healthier Luca donic here PJ Washington uh has really started to come into his own uh there are a lot of role players in this game and I know people are trying to make it where this is going to be all about oh the role players won the game for the Mavericks well I mean listen it’s a team effort role players won the Denver Nuggets a championship last year why well because you need role players in the playoffs to play really really well uh you got to have that kind of depth and looking back on it quite honestly I’m shocked we didn’t I I should have spent more time looking at the lack of depth in Denver and realized that that was going to be a problem as the playoffs uh moved on here so role players have their spot but I think when you get to the Western and Eastern Conference Championship yes role players are important depth is important but your stars have to show up your stars have to win you this part of the season so Luca donic and Kyrie uh you know Anthony Edwards uh Carl Anthony towns it is up to your stars to win you uh a seven game series with a trip to the NBA finals and I think that is what we are going to see here tonight and in the games moving forward sure role players will have their spot but this isn’t about role players this is all about your Superstars coming to play and winning games when you need them to and I think that’s exactly what you’re nothing like it here the start of the Eastern Conference Finals uh in the NHL and Joe Madden knows all about this as uh this is the fun time of year Joe as we get uh there is no tomorrow here we’ve got the best in both conferences battling for a chance to play for a Stanley Cup Championship and it starts with Florida and the Rangers here tonight which if we’re being honest Joe right this is kind of the series we all thought we were going to get pretty much the two best and they were consistently two of the best uh but 4- one the Rangers at home in the playoffs but you know what Panthers 4- one on the road this uh this season too so what gives in game one tonight oh Joe these teams are so evenly matched and you look at the goal tenders the goal tending is Elite the defense is Elite we look at the New York Rangers and I do think that power play is so effective that if the Florida Panthers find themselves in the box they’re going to be able to convert but I do give the five on five play the advantage to the Florida Panthers offensively so I think this game and this series is going to be a battle to the very end I’m expecting a lot of overtimes here but in game one here in Madison Square Garden I do think the New York Rangers find a way and I think it’s because of eigor s sturken I think he’s due for a shutout Style game now I don’t think it’s coming in this first game here I do expect us to see more goals in this first game we know the Florida Panthers in that first game versus Boston they showed that rust versus rest now I don’t think they come out as shaky in this one but I’m expecting offenses to step up and even though these goenda to go over that total of five and a half I could see this being a 32 game Joe and one of these teams tying it up and pushing it to OT tonight this is going to be an absolute battle out there on the ice I think there’s a couple of Playmakers you definitely want to Circle I’m circling Sam Reinhardt here are the Florida Panthers for that anytime goal he’s coming in at plus 155 he’s been phenomenally strong in the playoffs and in the regular season on the power play he’s lights out he led the regular season on Power Play Goals 57 regular season goals as well and phenomenally strong here in the playoffs and then for the New York Rangers it’s Chris krider for me his ability to have that presence in front of the net I think he does get in front of bosi in this one and probably takes that assist from Panera and sneaks it in little bit of Puck lock here for Chris krider his anytime goal coming in at plus 200 Joe all right so we’ve got two teams and the numbers are just gy Joe I mean you’re talking about a Panthers team averaging over three and a half goals a game in the playoffs but you know what so are the Rangers uh offensive Firepower the guys that they have here up and down these lines is crazy now having said that uh am I nuts thinking under one and a half in the first period here because I think the whole tone of this series is going to be set in this first period here and if it’s 2-1 at the end of one it’s probably not what either of these two teams will be looking for so uh under one and a half first period what do you think yeah I would look at that under one and a half in the first period too Joe because you know these go tenders are so sound the Florida PS are known for that solid defense that really limits their opponent’s ability to get those shots and the New York Rangers defensively have been so strong I’m expecting a hard hitting first period here Joe where you’re right they’re going to set the tone both of these teams are going to hit on each other get the back check as well and then I think in that third period is where we open up a little bit more in this first game so I would take the first period under one and a half but I lean to the full game over the five and a half yeah I uh I love it here so when it uh when it all comes down to it here uh Joe we need a winner in this game uh it sounds like you might be looking at goals later as opposed to early I kind of I kind of think I’m really worried about the Panthers staying out of the Penalty Box that’s not how play uh they’re not a finessed team they’re going to take their chances and roll the dice but if they stay in The Penalty Box and give the Rangers opportunities on the power play could be uh could be a lot of goals and it could be down one nothing here tonight so what do you thinking yeah I’m thinking it is the New York Rangers who get the win tonight I’m willing to grab them at home here in Madison Square Garden I do think the Florida Panthers come out to set that tone like you’re talking about but I think that tone comes being set by those hard hits that will equal some fights out there the Florida Panthers in the Penalty Box isn’t a great thing here like you said the power play is so Elite for the New York Rangers converting at over 31% but also if the Rangers get in the Box this is a team that can get those shorties they’ve already got four short-handed goals in the playoffs so I’m not counting them out even uh when they’re on the kill there Joe yeah I uh it going to be interesting buckle up should be an awful lot of fun you got another series uh coming up too which I don’t know the the hatred for Edmonton is alive and well uh Joe especially with uh folks from Canada who have an opportunity for a Canadian team to play first anley cup and yet I can’t find anybody from who wants them to win anything uh what happens here with the Dall do they have a shot because look at the price in this series yeah you know what this is going to be a phenomenally Hard series for the Edmonton Oil you’ve got the top Playmakers of Edmonton and I’m tipping my hat to Evan bushard the first defenseman who’s been able to record 20 points in the first two series of the playoffs and then you have Conor McDavid and Leon dry sideo this is the first team that’s had three Playmakers with 20 plus points in the first two rounds so tipping my hat to them but against the Dallas Stars here the Dallas Stars have Jake ainger and they have the depth up and down the roster something the Edmonton Oilers can’t say if injury happens to anyone on Edmonton it’s a huge issue and they still have Stewart Skinner and Calvin picket for their go tending duel so I can’t have faith in Edmonton I already given up five home runs on the season which isn’t like Justin steel we look at him last season he only gave up eight in 173 and one3 innings pitch so to give up five this is crazy I do think the Atlanta Braves hit him and they hit him hard his ER sitting at a 5.21 so I’m going to look here at the Atlanta Braves to come out nice and solid with Max freed getting the start we know how strong Max freed has played in Chicago in his career and I do think this is a game where he comes out and limits the bats of Chicago here in this one so give me the Atlanta Braves in the first half laying challenge uh next year and a very different challenge at Pinehurst coming up for the US Open so if you like to see these guys struggle and scream and yell and break clubs like I do get ready for the week well I I went back to my man that I had uh last week at the PGA Championship and that’s Colin morawa I mean this guy was tied for the lead with chafl going into the final round and I think this course is even a better fit for him I mean morawa you know famously at at both Augusta National and Valhalla big massive properties was able to keep up with the big boys because his driving accuracy is so good he he’s not exactly a short knocker but he’s not hitting out there as far as Xander and a lot of these guys on tour either and all of a sudden the short game has become a real weapon for moraal you know he’s finished runner up here at Colonial before he’s finished top 10 at all the correlated courses Y for the Sony Harbor Town he just finished runner up there recently you know all these shorter tracks TPC South Wind you know the positional accuracy based golf courses really correlate with Colonial and so I think morawa you know I didn’t go all the way to the top of the board at less than three to one on Scotty sheffler but the next second or the next favorite Choice there uh on morawa 12 to one and then I jumped much further I mean there’s a big Separation on this odds board you know once you get past Sheffer it seems like next thing you know everybody’s in the 50s and that’s where I I went I took Denny McCarthy at 50 to one I took uh Christian Baden Hout at 50 to1 both these guys had great finishes at the Wells Fargo they’ve had good years Denny McCarthy lost in a playoff at the Valero Texas open uh Baden Hoot with a 13th at the Players a ninth at the bbar again this course should fit their game much better than what we saw last week a totally different style course and then 55 to one on Andrew putam and 55 to one on Billy horel Andrew putam with a top 10 at the Sony earlier this year top 20 earlier this year at uh Harbor toown and then also a top 20 last month at the Bolero Texas and Billy horel has been on fire he won last month the corales Puna Championship finished eighth at the PGA Championship just last week so I love his current form he’s got top 10 at all the correlated courses went with a five-pack this week Joe morawa Denny McCarthy Baden hoot Andrew putam and Billy horel so let me ask you is uh are you sure Mora cow is actually going to pack the putter in the bag on Sunday this right just asking uh it would be absolutely fantastic and what are we to make about I I mean this is the Total Restoration here of colonial right the country club correct is it totally different than what we in years past here some people love it some people say h you’re not going to see a whole lot of difference I totally agree with the latter I I don’t think now there there’s difference but I don’t think it makes for a different type of player winning this I don’t think it really changes that you have to hit the ball accurately you have to work the ball in both directions around dog legs the greens are still very small bent grass surfaces what they’ve done is they’ve removed some trees they’ve removed some sand buckers they’ve kind of opened up the property a little bit get some more sunlight in there you know that’s kind of been a Modern Trend to get more air flow through you know it’s kind of a an Agronomy thing where it’s healthier for for the turf and and the property and and all the nature and what have you uh to kind of you know take some of that congestion out of there and and Colonial was suffering for that and and Gil Hance is just a master at kind of restoring these courses to the original historic design so I think it’ll be much better uh but I don’t think it really changes who you know what type of player is going to win this golf tournament it’s going to be about Precision you you mentioned the US open at Pinehurst Joe I I’ve known this for a long time A friend of mine told me this a long time ago and I still think it holds true watch for guys that play well at Colonial this week or have in the past Colonial held a US Open in 1941 look at guys that do well here this week and those are guys that can very much play well at a US Open there’s a big connection there between Colonial and success at a US Open yeah well it uh you still got to drive it in a fairway uh iron play there some layup holes it’s got a little something so bottom line is we’re looking for guys that can hit the irons uh and put them close here and then of course putting is usually uh what figures it all out when it’s said and done uh let me ask you can we stop uh people stop betting Jordan spe because the tournament’s in Texas just saying can we stop you know stop betting Jordan Speed and they’re all over him once again this week I know he is the third he is the third biggest liability at bmgm and uh let’s see I think he has the third largest handle at bmgm as well so they’re all over Jordan spe again this week and you know I I we you and I both know a lot of golf fans out there know the form has been completely inconsistent this year I think the wrist is a bigger issue than he’s letting on it’s in his head you know I don’t know how much pain he’s in all the time with the wrist but you know he says sometimes it pops out the ligament I mean that’s not good you’re playing golf and sometimes your ligament and you never know when it’s going to happen I think that’s kind of in the back of his really split one and one because they lost those those two games obviously uh I do like Luca a lot in his point total prop there over 28 and A2 in the two games he played 34 and 39 points against Minnesota uh Anthony Edwards Edwards is kind of weird uh he’s played all four it’s either Feast literally or famine literally he scored 36 in 44 points in two of the games and then he scored nine in the other two so now one was a complete blowout but still even a blowout you should get more than nine points so I I’ll throw a little flyer on know was over uh 28 and A2 points all four games went way over this number I I do like the under though a little bit uh but just to keep in mind that all four regular season games did go over but again two of those were not really Dallas Maverick uh teams so but I like I like the Mavericks they play their best ball Joe on the road they’re 4-2 straight up on the road they won a couple of times obviously you know they won with the inla a couple going to be hard to match the emotion that they played with the other night it’s smarter to be on Sports [Music] grid all right welcome back in game time decisions here on the sports grid Network I’m Joe rer getting ready uh coming up here in just a few we’ve got plenty uh that we’re going to be excited about watching Mavericks taking on the Timberwolves Dallas in Minnesota for game one of the Western Conference finals still seeing four and a halfs in the marketplace right now also 207 right uh now is the total that is up from around 205 and a half which is what it was when it first opened up so the over money getting a little bit of love here and and I had told you uh 12- one when we’re looking at over unders uh 12 overs one under when you have teams who are favorite now like Minnesota coming out of a game seven so and it makes total sense that teams that are a favorite at home they just won that big game seven a little little less uh in the legs a little tired uh trying to adapt and uh you know make the switch to a different team now different situation it would make sense that we’re probably going to get more points in this game than we may and let’s say oh I don’t know game two three four five six pick your uh pick whichever one that you want uh I do happen to think zigzags are probably in a in order in this uh if Dallas were to win tonight I got Minnesota tomorrow I don’t care or vice versa I do think uh the zigzag Theory might very well be in play in this series here not so much in the Boston and Indiana series although Indiana blew the perfect opportunity uh to steal one there but uh this is a good opportunity I think for the Mavericks tonight to get it done well rested two superstars finally healthy I think it’s a good opportunity here uh in a bad situational spot for the Minnesota Timberwolves not saying Dallas is going to win the series but I do think Dallas has got a pretty good opportunity to get it done here tonight the puck will drop at Madison Square Garden as well in a few moments as the New York Rangers are hosting the Florida Panthers in what is an interesting line all week here is it not as you’ve got five and a half kind of sitting there not moving a whole lot during the week but you got the Panthers as a minus 120 125 favorite which means the Rangers in some spots in the country well they’re the favorite on the east coast and in other parts the Panthers are the slight favorite and the money has been going back and forth between both of these teams so very evening uh even series these are two teams that have advantages over one another and disadvantages and the big question is going to be which team shows up and takes uh takes control of this series big game one setting the tone for this series here tonight I still happen to think that this is going to be a very physical opening Series especially early on I’m going to take the under one and a half in the first period uh in this one I do think expect some defense here first uh expect some guys to really be going at it I think under a goal and a half is not a bad look but I wouldn’t be shocked if a lot of goals are coming in the second and the third period in this one so that’s how I’m going to look at that game we’ve got plenty of Major League Baseball going on right now that Scotty wetzell and crew will take over and get you going with including the Marlin still holding on to a one- nothing lead over the Brewers the Pirates uh the uh Pirates and it looks like the Giants Pirates just scored bottom of the fourth and it looks like they just took out uh and I think they’re just going to the uh the bullpen here so pitching change right now for the Giants uh bottom of the fourth inning there but one- nothing Pirates and how about the Phillies is anybody going to stop this team they just uh hit another three runs it’s now 62 Philadelphia is absolutely crushing the ball so are the Blue Jays right now 7 nothing in the third inning against the white socks we got no score Atlanta and Chicago in a game that was lined at about nine and a half with the wind blowing out at Wrigley Max free on the mound for Atlanta and they are handling their business right now they yanie still up two nothing in their game against Seattle and Aaron judge two-run home run to start that game that’s what they’ve got and of course we still have Dodgers getting ready to go tonight against the Arona diamond back so that’ll do it we’ve got you covered here as ingame live prime time is coming up next don’t go anywhere game time decisions we’ll
