it has just gone 12:30 this Wednesday lunchtime we are coming to you live from the O2 Arena in East London ahead of tomorrow’s bet MGM Premier League darts final uh and of course the 2024 Premier League darts Champion is going to be crowned tomorrow night as the final night takes place right here in the OT O2 Arena if you’re watching on YouTube and Facebook I would stay with it because before we go at 1:00 today Mark Al Brighton Leicester city looks pretty darn good with with darts in his hand Lord Simon Jordan is throwing darts as well and nobody I can tell you in in the close vicinity of him is safe um but anyway we we’ll we’ll we’ll check that out when we get to it uh as I say after 16 weeks of action there are three matches to go and only Luke ller Luke humph Michael Smith and Michael Van Garwin remain Michael vanwin will play Luke Humphries tomorrow night and I’m delighted to tell you both gentlemen joined Danny Murphy and myself live on the show this Luke Michael you’re welcome how are you very good thank you how are you good thank you H here’s the thing Luke you I spoke way back in Cardiff at the beginning of all of this um 16 weeks on how’s it been yeah it’s been you know mentally and physically grueling it’s been a you know a hard task turning up you know every Thursday and you know you just never know how it’s going to go to be honest but I felt like i’ I’ve I put in a good campaign you know averaged over the 100 MK for the whole of the tournament which is you know where I’d step my stand standard at so um my goal was to get in the top four and I did that so you know it was all achieved what I wanted you were saying Michael that you you know each other so well because you play each other so often yeah we do yeah so I mean to be honest the home there is no need for any homework going into it any preparation you just take your own game into each game yes and no because I I think there’s always homework to do the way how you pronounce a game how you analyze your own throw in the the previous games what do you have to do better all them things combined you need to make sure you’re going to put in the next game and that’s not always that easy but that’s there has to be the mindset you’re playing for this trophy in front of us here in the table I mean I I suppose it would have been a disaster For You Luke and you Michael had you not got to this stage what do you mean well never a disaster oh it’s no no no the aim is to get here right yeah I know but only once I didn’t do it and there was Co times all right so you so it’s not that difficult you have to do it I think also as well when you’ve had the success that he’s had in this competition it’s not as important maybe not in a disrespectful no it’s really important people in the wrestl made but because it’s every week it directs you out it’s it’s makes you uh mentally tired you know what I mean because you have to travel all week after week tournament by tournament because people think after this we go home no we go to the next tournament then after this we have t minut Ros M then we go to New York then we we don’t stop you know what I mean and that makes it m but to play in this tourament after the world championship this is the biggest one of the year yeah yeah I understand what you’re saying it is incredibly important for you know the likes of me and Michael the world number world number two to to be in finals tonight because of course we we want to be competing for this trophy you know Michael’s won it seven times he knows how it feels I don’t so um you know I’m going to be desperate to try and get my hands on it and he’s going to want it back you’re allowed to snive on it now I’m allow to touch it thank you seven times incredible Michael when I think of that actually Luke where is where has darts got to we were talking to Barry Hern the president of matchroom and he was telling Danny myself and Simon how it all came about it’s becoming normous now people love it yeah it seems to be growing every year it seems to be them World Championships every year that keeps making it grow obviously last year the the Michael Smith and mich vano in game with a nine D that grew the sport incredibly and then obviously this year with me and Luke L you know the youngest ever World final and I think Luke’s a lot to to because of that uh but I think the game has grown massively and I think you know we possibly one the second most viewed sport on Sky Sports now which is great for us as players and you know the game will keep growing and growing as long as we’re pushing it as much as we are nor only us if you look to the timeline of dots back in the day of course air Bristo the AR uh Phil Taylor of course they started all this and yeah then you had a time from barille Anderson myself and now new the Luke Luke hum Luke ller every time something special happens what they Tak dos to another level and I I think that’s that’s what sports needs but the same happen with football or any other sports Always Something There that hey for people to give it a little kick do you know what I mean and that’s what you need I was talking to the guys off there but do you think do it on there but you know the the audience is massive now in the venues and home at TV do you think the Premier League The Format the six leg the Quick bump cuz very different from the World Championships where the longer where it’s the better player seems to maybe come through but with the short do you think the fans really like that quick fire yes and no there’s there’s a lot of ups and a lot of downs if you look for me as a player and for me as a a do fan I would rather like to uh not play all the top play so many times in a row get this then it’s less special you know what I mean yeah do know what you mean but the other side if you’re in the venue watching the darts and they bring in the money selling the tickets they want to see a winner at the end of the night so I get it but for me as a player I prefer one game on a night I’m just watching what’s going on behind you Michael Mark albrighton looks very good two triple 20s and a double 20 Simon Jordan scored six trip um saw you score six a minute ago just carry on over the here we the adults are having a conversation over here are you sure you’re right-handed oh boy Michael you come back let let’s ask L what do you think on that question I I pretty much agree to be honest I think the only thing it takes away from us playing the the League what we are is Premier League yeah yeah you know the league format that we’re sorry the league format The Knockout I think it does take away that special game you know at the moment you got the likes of you know me and Michael that’s that’s a special game in darts but I think we’ve played each other six or seven times this year already and you know me and Luke L obviously is a big game in darts as well and I think I’ve played him six seven times this year already so it takes away that special back in back in the day uh beginning of the premier let’s say I was playing filter all week seven Michael Van and Taylor or something like that and everyone was living towards them games and now it’s a little bit less special than but for the people in the crowd I get it and I think it’s better for the people in the crowd Michael Simon Jordan has just it’s perfect is it three triple 20s no it’s too it’s two trip too late don’t it’s no pressure nobody’s watching easy all right yeah if he goes to the wio website he can buy my do maybe it’s Street tripples Luke h would you rather happens that you win the Premier League darts final tomorrow night or your beloved League United wins thef final against Southampton on Sunday I’ve been asked that before obviously I’d rather be Premier League champion because uh you know in this life we have to be selfish so for me it’s Nob Brainard i’ obviously want to be the Premier League champion and uh leads not to to go up could in an Ideal World I want both to happen yeah yeah you know Michael it’s just occurred to me can you improve having won this thing seven times of course can I prove you didn’t watch my game lately but you you’ve been you’ve been there you’ve been at the very top for so long yeah how do you get better keep by them guys they drive you they they’re going to push you all the time I he first time Premier League for for Luke ller and Luke humre and now for for uh for me it’s the 12th or 13th time you know I mean so I’ve been on the circuit for quite a long time already and I’m the one with the most experience out of all of us what’s the key to that the the longevity what’s the key to staying at that because these guys have got I love trophies mate yeah I I do admire him for that because this this this year has been quite tough know it’s my first time and to to sit back and see that he’s done 12 13 years on the truck all the traveling and he’s still got that mental approach every time when he walks to the ockey as he wants to win it’s quite incredible to us know I think a lot of the players do admiring for that it’s a it’s a hard graph doing it for 12 years on the truck you know you guys look as if you got on pretty well so when when mik shapes up against you tomorrow night luk is it like boxing is there any Trash Talk goes on before it van when you’re getting it shut up humph not really no I don’t I don’t think we’re not until that you know we we we get along we’re good friends and you know we will be we’ll probably go out for dinner tonight and tomorrow but obviously when we’re playing against each other tomorrow night uh Thursday night yeah you know we we want to beat each other want to thrash each other and that’s just the way it is you know friends off the ocky but enemies on it but we I don’t take away the trash talk I know that was a jing but you know in terms of the speed of throw different players playing at different speeds and that type of stuff does that come into your thinking as a strategy no never you just concate I always believe if you’re busy with other people’s it messes you up yeah messes you up yourself there no point yeah and and it shows your own weakness Jim White and Simon Jordan Monday to Friday mornings from 10: on a.m. on da via the talk sport app and on your smart speaker talk sport but

  1. Darts…boxing…football…water polo. The DON covers it all with 100% facts and stats. Simon = top LAD proper clobber

  2. 5:20 he’s spot on – also You don’t see dart players hitting the high 110-115 averages anymore cos of how often they play etc – Hearn choosing quantity over quality ££££

  3. The fatigue argument is literally null. Golfers play every week for 45 weeks of the year, playing Tues-Sun every week. Stop saying darts is tiring playing one night a week for a quarter of the year.

  4. Can imagine the constant travelling quite a burden between they will enjoy the break after Thursday , still think a league is a league why do you need a play off whoever is top is surely the champion especially after all those weeks but that’s the way it is, glad the football premier league is decided by who finishes top not some play off.

  5. Mvg is so past his best, I genuinely thought that he would beat Barney's worlds, but that looks very unlikely now, he looks very dis interested. Tonight against humphries he was not good, thankfully he didn't face littler for him or it would have been embarrassing.
