n [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] n [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] good evening good evening good evening welcome to another edition of under ball here at win FM 98.9 I am Troy Biff Mills your host and I’m hoping we’re going to have a wonderful time tonight sharing news all kind of things all kinds of news sporting news we’re talking about of course and we first have to start off with some not so good news we’ve lost inas and I say the lewood islands o we have lost another stalwart another sporting stalwart in the person of the late L to blacket out of Nas and I remember as a small boy growing up I believe there was only one person in NIS no politician no anything leester blacket everywhere I turn leester blacket turn for Cricket Lester blacket football Lester blacket track on field Lester blacket Community Lester blacket so I fig leester blacket was the only man in NIS and this is uh when I was a small boy like I said very involved I know he was heavily involved in track and the field I understand he was the man responsible for the inter primary school over in NIS having it come to fusion and it’s called the mini Olympics half holiday when it’s had and he is a tremendous loss he has been ill for the last few the last period a few months I understand he wasn’t as active as he has been in the past and we say condolences to his family his friends his colleagues and condolences to the entire Nas nevas community and uh it’s really a sad loss and this loss coming he’s coming behind the loss of the late Alonso Bridgewaters Bridge water just a few weeks ago so we losing our our sty walls one by one we have to give thanks and for the time we would have had with them and uh we need to sit down and really extract interview these persons and what they doing what they have done so we could have documentary to share with without children and grandchildren 10 15 20 50 100 years from now so once again condolences to the family of the late Lester blacket over in nevas he will be tremendously missed and we say good morning good afternoon good night good evening whatever time of day it is in your neck of the woods welcome to another edition of on the ball and happy birthday to those of you who are celebrating today and win FM I think if I’m not mistaken this month is the anniversary month happy happy anniversary in advance Wim this is going to be something like what 22 years or there about and uh looking back from the competition from Miles Ahead I like that we’re so far ahead of the competition they stand up and they look back at at it and they’re way behind so congratulations to wifm and the wonderful job the management and staff board of directors have been doing over the years it’s a pleasure for me to have been a part of of that I was the substitute broadcaster from about 19 1950 20 2015 2016 there about when Springer was the the sports caster and when he was off I had the privilege and the honor of deputizing for him and when he went to Antigo to work full-time for the lewood islands Cricket Board I also had the pleasure and the honor of being the full-time sports caster until about 2019 and it’s now my privilege here on the program with you so happy anniversary happy birthday those of you who are celebrating if you’re celebrating between now and next week Tuesday happy birthday in advance happy anniversary in advance and if you would have celebrated recently happy belated birthday happy belated anniversary and those of you who are morning we extend condolences to you on your period of bement and we encourage you to be strong and find comfort in the many Precious Memories you would have had of your loved one your friend relative coworker whatever the case may be and cherish those tonight we’re going to be have well one of our guests these guys not easy Bo already in the studio we are going to have Mr Ingleton liard why should I address him as atian or Canadian critian Force Canadian oh critian okay he’s already in the studio he’s saying no no no kti critian but he’s here representing the he’s the general manager of cricket Canada and they are participating in the World Cup for the first time if I’m not mistaken and they are camping out here in St kits so he’s going to tell us a little bit about that at about 8:00 we’re going to be having the director of sports Mr Jeffrey Pedro he should be live in studios with that and about 8:30ish we are going going to be having Mr Zeke peral president of the royal St kits golf club and he’ll be bringing one or two of his executive members with us they recently had a the John Walker black Classics that’s a golf on the weekend here in St K nevas and the ezone Cup Final over in Nas I would have liked to go to learn a bit about that but I expected they would have had complimentary Johnny Walker blacks and take part in that with some coconut water but let us go straight and live He’s a little early but let’s go straight and deal with him right away and going to Studio B and say good evening to Mr Ingleton Liber welcome to with FM 98.9 and also on the ball your made an made an appearance here at on the ball winm 98.9 sir good evening Troy and um good evening to your listeners they’re happy to be here at um wifm Studios again it’s been a long time and especially to be on your show on the ball is my first time and I hope it’s not the last definitely not you know so it’s really a pleasure to be here who knows in the next few weeks we might be speaking again after you would have won the world the World Cup the T20 World Cup we never know we never know what could happen and for those of us who may not know who may not remember who is Ingleton liard wow who is Ingleton liard wow that’s a big question yeah um uh I most people probably won’t remember me some will but um I I I grew up in s kids I went to boy school then Junior High then High School represented sinkits at a young age in cricket um Captain Leeward Islands under 19 played for two years with on 19 captain at one time I also um many people don’t remember this but uh I I actually captain in Sy it’s um under 19 football team as well so but most people will just just know me to be involved with Cricket because after football or sh stin I I I um was with with um Cricket quite a bit and but I played football in in in college when I went to Canada and then um eventually I played a lot more football at in initially but then eventually branched off into cricket and Cricket actually made me see the world quite a lot so um you also remember tro that I came back here for a while worked at Carib R sare bu Academy as the general manager was president of sers cricket Association for a while was lewood Islands vice president so you know senit is there to me and what happens in senit is always in my heart wow angry you’re surprising me there I know you all my life I know you as a cricketer and I used to think that you had two left foot I had a good left good left but to Captain the the S it’s on and the S is on the night team that that’s that’s something tremendous you mentioned you from Bas year what part of Bas year SP where the best be no greenlands greenlands ah man that’s the only thing wrong with you with someone skill and talent the only thing wrong with you England you’re not from SP where the best be Sandy Point well all the skill come out of Bo school oh okay then but yes I I remember you here I remember you being president of the cricket Association what period was that yeah it was somewhere um in the early 2000s um I know up until 20 maybe around 200 I did a stint run 2002 to 2004 um took a break and then I was again another one from 2006 to 2008 cuz I remember when they had the first um when w Park was we done and had the first test match with India I was president at the time oh so you’re you’re part of History part of History yeah cuz in newana park when we were getting ready for the World Cup and then 2006 to 2008 you were the president again when we held the World Cup when we held the World Cup yes I was the smallest country to have done so so far correct punching very much above our weight M what caused you to get into Cricket why not track on field why not well you didn’t mention football but why not track on field volleyball basketball because you’re you’re a tall youngster you’re tall youngster well did track and field at high school too and at one point I had um the high jump record at high school for quite a while wow so I was quite an allrounder when it comes to sports but then um when I moved to Canada I did some track and field um my cousin the late Desi Williams got me to train with them along with Ben Johnson and stuff but then um you know it’s a funny story but I think um a snow storm caused me not to go back a snow storm okay so it’s every disappointment is for good I guess for good so then I got into I got into the soccer played quite a lot of soccer in Canada and then eventually um got into the Canadian national cricket team actually Cricket I didn’t play a lot of cricket when I first went to Canada I didn’t even know they had Cricket in Canada it’s my brother who told me his neighbor had a team and he spoke to him and he got me into his club and you know back then it wasn’t like here where you can just go and practice and get into a say a first division team they want you to work your way up from the lower division prove yourself and then you can play first division so I haded to do that and then as I said eventually I made Canadian team I think in 1987 where my first TOS to Barbados and played for Canada for 12 years wow that’s a long time yeah a long time and then Al for out of those 12 years for the last four those as Captain and I was the captain of the team at the only time that the Comm games Health Cricket in Malaysia wow that that’s interesting well you you sort of preempted me structure of cricket in Canada tell us a little about that I go to Canada as whatever youngster I want to play cricket how challenging it is it for me in the first instance and what is the path to represent Canada well it’s not as challenging now because um people realize that can plays a lot of cricket so I think a youngster coming to Canada is pathway is to get into a junior program but it must be a recognized cuz um what you find is a lot of player there’s a lot of um leagues are not recognized by the by the parent organization like by Cricket Canada so Cricket Canada has 10 provinces members and then those members have their their leagues but among those you have a lot of leagues who are just um playing for fun so people might end up playing Fun League good players is realizing I can’t get into a Canadian team and why but it’s because they’re not in a recognized league so the selectors and the scouts are not seeing them so the best thing to do is to play in one of the recognized leagues and get recognized and then so it’s from the it comes from the league teams into your provincial setup and then from the provincial into um your Nationals because that’s the way to the Canadian team but right now we actually in Ontario which is the largest Province for Cricket about 80% of cricket is played there we’re lucky that Cricket is now in the curriculum in the schools so oh that’s interesting very good it’s um now catching on in the schools and you find a lot of schools are now inviting people into play and a lot of private companies are setting up um themselves because they’ve been paid to go in and coach in the schools now that’s interesting I’ve been to Canada a few times I was in Toronto I remember one time driving down to miss Saga yeah that’s where I live and that’s as much as I know about Canada I did some training at the northern Telecom uh headquarters that was in is it welcome you have a place called welcome yeah yeah welcome in in Canada yeah uh that’s where I think we did the training and but you mentioned you gave us an idea you mentioned Province provinces provinces yeah that what what are the provinces they have provinces or whatever provin the 10 provinces which the major ones are are basically Alberta British Colombia saskat and Manitoba Ontario Quebec Prince Edward Island um Nova scoti New Brunswick okay you know I must I’m sure I’m missing one yeah New Finland and Labrador those are the 10 provinces that we have and um I find a lot of West Indians go to Nova Scotia cuz the universities they very good mhm but um they have probably the least amount of cricket but it’s growing quite a bit now because of the immigration and immigrant popularity and you’ll find a lot of East Asians or South Asians are coming to Canada so they come there with a tradition of cricket and it’s developing quickly okay so Ontario you said they play 80% 80% of the cricketers probably come from Ontario so let us settle around here so you have Ontario which is like Texas for comparison not not necessarily in size but Texas is a state you call it a province right in Canada and then how is that broken down Ontario one big Province how many counties or whatever do you call teams yeah um see what Ontario and then Ontario has their memberships and if I’m just thinking off the top of my head but you have in Ontario have like scarbo cricket league the Toronto and District cricket league which is one of the biggest mhm Brampton UT toico cricket league which is probably the biggest they start at 7:00 in the morning actually start what 7 Cricket 7:00 people going to play cricket 7 o00 in the morning that’s interesting so bton cuico then you’ll have um some spin-off Leakes like Hamilton and District um so a lot of they have about um six different members leagues and um some of those leagues probably have over 100 teams wow that’s a lot a lot a lot Cricket a lot what period of the year do you play cricket in in Canada generally um you’re looking at April to October it used to be May to September but it’s extended because the amount of cricket now it’s extended so April and say to and October April and October late September October you might have to have on a few sweaters to play but and even maybe a winter jacket and depends on where you’re playing but people still play so that’s basically through the the spring the summer summer and fall correct uh I talking about that I remember playing in Cricket in England and I was feeling backward point a fell came forward and smack the ball easy catch for me just about KNE height I put on my hand and I had to pull it away because I couldn’t feel my fingers at all yeah I remember the days when I used to play and have my hands in my pocket and hope hope I don’t have a catch to me exactly yeah so when do you play your Cricket and do you have well you mentioned sasan Etc do they have divisions Premier Division first second third Etc they do yeah they do they have different divisions and depends on the province they call it whatever they want some like in Ontario the top division is called super nine so it’s nine teams in the super super nine then the elite and then Premier Division come down so you’ll probably in the Toronto and District League which as I said is one of the biggest you probably have maybe six divisions and then the Juniors okay and then the Juniors start at under 11 go through to under under 18 and when what type of cricket do you play do you play today do you play just limited overs just limited overs 50 over is the most um so it’s basically T10 um 1010 and they have um T20 and 50 over Cricket in fact some of the teams are now playing a 25 over Cricket okay yeah that that that’s really interesting so you mentioned the SCS obviously will have to go and see them about the selectors scouts what right I are the selectors called Scouts no we have a selection panel and then those then you have Scouts that will go out who will give information because there’s so many players to the selectors and players who maybe they think is good enough to look to have a look at cuz we’re now in the process of um developing a high performance so we just selected a high performance sad maybe about a month and a little bit ago so we have a high performance um pool which is about 40 players so those Scouts will look at these different players to get that pool at the end of the year and besides the pool we have the national championships which is a T20 at the moment with all 10 provinces taking part so that’s when we come together for a week and just have a week of cricket um in in two different zones the what’s the age range of the high performance the members of the high performance on the age range we’re looking at really basically like under 25 but we focus more on the players between 19 and 23 those who have finished on the 19 and waiting for their turn to get into a national setup you are here with the national Canada team mhm and I guess these players would have been selected from the various leagues that you mentioned provinces and otherwise how many players do you have here and what’s the size of the contingent overall um we’re 18 people here right now with 13 players five staff um going to the World Cup is going to be 15 players and 10 staff but unfortunately couple of our key players got injured just before we came so they’re going to some rehab at the moment and hopefully they’ve been monitored with it was we were thinking of bringing them here to sinkits and get them to work with our fysio at the time but we thought it was best to leave them in Canada we have access to probably better um facilities for rehab and um so it’s 15 player Square I will go to the World Cup um from the 25th we get um to Dallas for the F for the first um week of training and a couple of um warm-up matches of all places you could have gone in the Caribbean MH why saying kids for your Camp just think of the the road match I’m going to talk about another TR Trinidad think of the road Mar of Trinidad no place like home yeah so I thought um you know I thought we had this discussions on different places that you could have gone to but you know in the end I I thought that um we will get more out of coming to sinkits and plus we realized that other teams were coming here also like um Afghanistan who we have a good relationship with we’re hoping to play them some game but unfortunately they don’t have a full team here in SES yet um they full team should come in by tomorrow when we leave the following day and then you’ve got Po in your guini and Namibia so we thought and we had good relationship to all these teams so and as I said I I believe that by coming to sink it’s it’s best for us to climatize and because of the people are so warm I know the people who I can deal with and I thought that if I needed anything then I can call upon someone and get it done easily if I went to a Florida or those places I don’t think we would have been even to practice in the night and and a couple of our games at night so must commend um the sers cook Association thank Dennis and the association for allowing us to play on the lights and get accustomed to that you are the general manager of cricket Canada mhm what is exactly is Cricket Canada is that like similar to The Cricket West Indies correct board yeah that is so how difficult or how easy was it for you to get to that position one and what was the pathway to you becoming the general management um well I started at Crick Canada as a development officer um I I worked in a position for maybe about what six years and um then the vacancy came came for the general manager position General manager/ executive director position so I really um applied for it and I thought I had the experience before but there were other people get to but I didn’t have the experience in knowing the Canadian system so once I got into the system I think because um I understood Cricket I worked in the administration and then started to understand the system and although I was I was um the development officer I was doing the bulk of the work so I guess that was understood by the rest and identified and I learned the ICC and how it operates inside out so I think I just became the perfect fit for that position you’re listening to on the ball here at win FM 98.9 we are honored to have in the studios with us live and direct Mr Ingleton Liber the general manager of cricket Canada and he’s one of our local homies if I I could say s myself from the Greenland region and we we actually honored to have him here you can call 466 989 and ask any questions congratulate him best wishes to him and his team any questions any comments you want to you can 466 0989 if you’re calling from outside of St kevas you preface that with 8691 1869 as the case may be or if you to shy to call you can actually WhatsApp me 668 2055 and again if you’re outside of s kits and NIS pref that with 869 you’re you’re in a group angle group a MH India Pakistan Ireland Canada the United States a very interesting group here very interesting group and um you know the way we look at it and we’ve been discussing this quite a bit we know that it’s expected that uh India and pakist Pakistan will come out but in T20 cricket there can be upset just look today um USA beat Bangladesh MH today in um they’re playing a t203 was a three match series first time they played against a a full member and they beat them so Kenya kenada had Ken Kenya had beaten the West Indies back in 1996 World Cup Island beat England so the way we look looking at it if we play We happened to play USA first and then on the first of June June yeah MH open now yeah they opener and there’s some history behind that and a lot of people probably don’t realize that Cricket uh the first international cricket match ever was between Canada and the USA so because both teams are in the World Cup for the first time together now ICC is recreating that so that’s why the first match is Canada versus USA and then after that we play Ireland next and U so we’re looking at it if we can get to those two games and we’re we’re thinking that somewhere along the line they’re going to be some upsets and um if we can get through who knows if we can upset to Pakistan island or USA upset of Pakistan and it might come down to runways or something but if we beat them ourselves then you know we can just sneak in it is said the ball is round exactly and it is what happened on the day and we have seen upsets and we’re going to be seen upsets going forward in the future not only in cricket football other other things and anything can happen and you mentioned the fact that and a lot of people may not realize it Canada and the US they were the first to play international cricket from my understanding as you just indicated back in 1844 exactly and Calvin James who’s now resident in St kits anytime he has a conversation and you go down the line he’s always going to remind you because he spent quite a bit of time in Canada and he was involved in cricket and who knows he may very well call in tonight and his son was actually a selector for for Canada a few years back oh okay that that’s interesting and I think it’s a good marketing strategy to put Canada versus the USA first match out but then again maybe somebody somewhere might think their neighbors we don’t want to put them last and then well for want of a better expression there’s a sellout for say right uh but any anything can happen and we’ve seen big teams as recently as here in the cool and smooth T20 competition we had with the local teams one team made over 200 runs in that competition and they did it twice that was Sandy Point in the preliminary rounds the only team to make over 200 runs however in the finals mukan skittled them out for 74 or there about yeah saw that so strange things don’t happen it is what happened on the day I had the privilege of emping one of your games with Papa New Guinea mhm but what is the mood in the the camp the guys are quite upbeat um I think everybody’s happy to be here and um things are coming together because if you look at it um we keep we went we for us it’s winter so we’re stuck indoors training so when we came to sink it’s all we had was two days of um Fielding practice out there nobody had a chance to play on a Turf Wicket or or in this kind of heat cuz the first day was really yeah MH you know but guys are getting accustomed to the heat now climatizing and to be honest some of them are saying they wish they could take this pitch with them because it was you know the batsman for sure even some of the bowlers one of the Bowers say he he never get this kind of carry that he got there and um I must say that the groundsman did a good job on the pitches so far and you know I think you you had you know the first game you weren’t to Empire in that game was um Watley and Bill did the first game we played against the sink it’s Nas team correct and although um you know we won quite easily I think there’s there’s some Talent there I mean I Jamal Hamilton played for them he scored 60 yard that game but then you see some other youngsters there who have some talent and bow very well so um a ball is a guy I’ve been watching for a few years and I think he has the goods to get better and um it was good to see jce out there with them helping them as the player coach and I and Shane too Shane was the coaching the team so I think um I actually specifically ask for that game as a as an opening game because uh it’s not that we wanted a a lighter team or anything but I wanted to give the sinkits players an opportunity to play against an international team so I asked Dennis when I contacted Dennis and spoke about this us coming here I said um I’d like to have a sink sink NIS team player in the first game so I was happy that that could happen and I hope the players learned something from it and we have our eyes on one of the players actually cuz we I don’t you probably will know that um there’s some ties to Canada for Cameron Cameron Penny feather so he he’s played in Canada also he’s represented um Alberta I’m sure he can tell you about Alberta but um I’m trying to encourage him to come back to Canada and play season and see how it goes because I watched him in the third place game of for the cool and smooth and he batted subbly so that’s the kind of talent that we want to see and um he if he wants to play it’s players now have the option whether they want to play 50 over 3day or or um T20 indeed and U but I think he has the ability if he works hard enough to play all formats yes he is and he has been around the cricket a little while he perhaps has not achieved as much as people believe he has the potential Talent too but he he’s always seems to be a smooth comfortable cricketer and he was one of the captains of the was it St Paul’s St Paul’s team that would have played in in the T20 and I like the fact that you mentioned that and not withstanding every now and then we see ads very often I should say about becoming Canadian citizens right uh so persons will have that opportunity in terms of scholarships do you have much of that Cricket scholarship specifically in Canada not really and not just quicket there’s not a lot of sports Scholarships in Canada it’s not like the US where you go there and get some big Scholarships in sports you’ll probably quicker get an academic scholarship in Canada and the sports it’s only now I think um that the Canadians are paying more attention to Cricket again uh Sports again like if you look at I don’t know if you ever heard of the own the podium there’s a program called own the podium and that program actually brought back more medals in the Winter Olympics and now it’s starting to see the same thing in the summer games so all the National Sports organization in Canada they follow that pattern where we have to have a long-term athlete development program so even have something for the athletes for when they do PR me sport for life um you know that there’s a masters we actually getting very big in the Master’s Cricket now we’ve got just started some over 40 over 5050 and over 60 and even over 70 league so it’s it’s growing quite a bit so I think um when it comes to sports scholarship there’s one Province England can I ask you to hold a second as we have a caller o i was yes here is that caller let’s try and go to the line and see um good evening caller oh we lost that caller please call again give us a call Call 466 0989 caller we do apologize and uh you were saying Engle yeah I was saying the scholarship for sports is not really there we tried there’s some I think in Fort McMurray Alberta there’s a university there that start again Eng caller is here good evening caller welcome to on the ball you’re live on win FM 98.9 good evening Mr Mills good evening sir how are you doing I’m blessed highly favored and giving thanks what about you I am I’m so excited but I’m hoping that I’m not overly excited because I heard it on the news that our very first test cricketer has been named okay um I’ve heard it since Sunday I haven’t seen anything official any official this what I’m saying um but I just listen to Z news it was also read on Z news and we’re here live with Engle Liber if you may remember and I don’t know if you Engle have seen or heard anything official no I saw that on Facebook but I and as usual I go to I went to West indis Cricket Board website and I usually get their newsletters and I didn’t see anything cuz every time a team is announced I get a memo from West indis Cricket Board so I’ve seen them announce a T20 team but I didn’t see anything of test team but I’m excited about Lou I saw the the T20 team that we playing against um South Africa correct yes I saw that and I saw the workup Squad as well but you know I saw it on Facebook I saw it on other pages and so but I haven’t heard like Mr would have said anything official but I’m just excited Mr M you would have known that I I would have named you my squad and my stting level already if you wanted to repeat it of course please my squad for England MH would be c m and the a lot people would like you as a selector so what’s the 11 and then my starting 11 for the first test would be M Lou and the all right I like that whatever they’re trying to hide whatever they’re trying to hide what whatever they’re trying to I mean bambooz and come with some lbl nothing going to change my squad and my starting 11 would be the same I’m going to say here and now in advance congratulations to Mr Louie and if he’s listening and he can give us a call if he’s if he’s at Liberty that is to just let us know whether or not he got any correspondence from the rest this criet board I I appreciate that thanks a lot the thing about it is even if he has I’m not so certain he’ll be at Liberty to call because he wouldn’t want to go public with anything unless that officially is official announcement is made I can tell you I can tell you this however in my research I’ve gathered that he is currently in Antiga he has been Antiga since late last week encamped there preparing and I further understood that that is basically the the the final step so to speak before you’re into the West Indies team so yeah but you see I want not but I tell you this know can understand so so Desmond ha I remember one year with with raim Carwell where he got correspondent and he started toep and then only to know that he was left out in this team but I want to send some warning here and now that Mr H that a going work okay that is not going to work well all right you have this have a great evening good evening as well thank you thank you very much sir and thank you very much for calling on that if we Sidetrack to that Louis situation there quickly Engle I think when with with Louie one of four players making 500 or more runs MH Jango from Trinidad he made 500 even and only one person going above 600 right that was Lou and he he was only like 181 682 so 681 shot of that 700 Mark in his first season mhm that has to be a big think it’s three centuries and 450s EXA exactly right and I from my research two persons had four centuries Louie and um who was it Casey no Casey Cassie had five I can’t remember but one person had five and so no matter how you twist and turn it and he wasn’t an opener with the most runs he was the batsman with the most runs right so I say publicly and I believe with all my heart if Louis doesn’t make the West IND the team now to England I think no disrespect to your as former president Engle but I think we should stop playing Cricket in in s Cas go and play marbles who rounders some something if Louie doesn’t make the West Indies team to England that is my humble View and I think he’s very deserving I watched him bat and um he looks very solid and it’s the first time i’ ever really got a chance to see him I heard a lot about him um I’ve had a chance to talk to his brother um Jerry Jerry yeah cuz I saw Jerry in Canada he came up there and played in the first gt20 we had and um yeah I think um when I saw him B and I thought this guy looks very solid so I heard everybody talk about him so I had to take a chance and look at him and see cuz to be honest I before Louis I used to if if Winwood Islands was playing and I used to watch le Winwood Islands gamees because I like to see AES mhm but then Lou really impressed so much that if you said as you said if he don’t get selected then You’ wonder what’s going on because he’s done everything West IND is um in my opinion a shot on opening batsman and this guy has shown that he’s very solid the funny thing about it there’s a podcast by Two Gentlemen I think they live in England and after the third or the fourth round Louie was leading 300 and something runs mhm and would have had his two Centuries by then and a half century and the host of this podcast is saying that he doesn’t believe that he should be picked after the first season he needs to come back and prove himself and in the same breath he’s saying some other player all he has to do is score three half centuries and he’s in the West Indies team and I like no I’m not here I’m not hearing right this can’t make no lot of sense to me and at the same time he’s saying shander Paul who is an incumbent all he got to do is make a Sentry and he’s back well Chandal is way down in the the aggates 177 20 I can’t remember so I like to hear him again relative to that but I am one I’ve never believed in longevity that is if I am in a position longer than you I should be promoted before you are selected before you I I never did believe in that I believe in production right who is the best at the moment beat the youngster or the oldster and P’s men of Desmond H I think he was selected to West Indies after his first his first season first first class season and as Faith would have it he is the chairman of selector know and clearly I don’t think he he’ll forget about something like that and he was here in St kids to see Louie the second or the third match the second match perhaps he didn’t perform in that match but when you see Louis bat 20 minutes 30 minutes of that’s the class 30 minutes you’re getting irrespective of how much he scores of course he went on three centuries nobody else had three centuries I think one or two persons had two I can’t remember but I think he has picked himself for the the West Indies team and the mere fact that once it is true and I understand that it is he’s in Antiga he has been called by cricketer with is hey come to Antiga we’re going to put you on some intense training for the week to me that is the final step so to speak before the team is announced yeah I know I saw some players in Antiga training and yeah there was a different I figur they were preparing for the T20 World Cup but then some extra players so and if he’s one that’s called there for that then that’s a good sign and u i remember um you know when I saw that um post about him being selected I mind actually went to Barbados remember Barbados made an announcement that they’re hosting the World Cup before West Indies said M so I said maybe it’s a case like that where you know Willie Louis knows he’s in the team somebody knows that Lou is in the team and let it out you know I think something has happened something is happening something has happened but clearly he had to have gotten a call of some sort not necessar to say you’re in the West Indies team but for him to be in antig I don’t believe he’ll just buy a plane ticket and go and say Hey I want to badge this thing I think he would have been invited like I said maybe they have spoke to him and obviously if they have it’s on insane confidence you can’t say anything unless it is officially announced but going back to the the say his team you said you would have you like the idea because it gave some of the the players opportunity to play first class right international players are you seeing any change between when you were here as president 20 the eight the last time some 16 years ago have you seen any Improvement any change in one players and two the structure the system I haven’t had a chance to see much of the structure but um I’ll be very honest and said my first disappointment um with the game is that both teams got here around the same time uh the Canadian team went started doing the warm-up drills but the local team just waited and sat on the steps until the ire was ready to go out so that to me was a bit of a disappointment cuz you’re preparing to play like a game whether it’s a pickup game a friendly game but you’re playing against international team see what they’re doing but you just choose to just sit there and wait and just talk you know so I think if you’re going to I mean even any Club game or whatever you should get they’re early enough ready and and they were early enough but they just didn’t prepare as well as I think so it could have been a reflection to of the 122 that they scored or 120 whatever it was and I was looking forward to seeing another player towards kin K and Tucket because I think um he’s talented as well too but he didn’t have such a good game but then you know I think um some players they probably better off for the longer version and I think he’s such talented that I don’t want to see everybody been forced into a T20 and from what I’ve been seeing mostly of the structure of the cricketer in syet is is mostly T20 shter version T10 T20 I know a lot of companies out they are coming into the Caribbean and trying to push Market the T10 especially and they’ve come to us to an ask us to to play these T10 tournaments but even if that happens I think the longer version I don’t think there’s a T10 or a T20 cricketer you have to be a cricketer and then you can play those formats and that’s why vard Coy bbarazam you know Kane Williamson um you know these guys Josh Butler you know another player that have a lot of time for but I don’t know why he’s not so successful in longer version of sh hope I think he’s one of the better players I’ve seen and Brandon King I I think he’s a guy from the West Indies where I think can play all versions too Brandon is the captain he’s been announced as the captain for the the T20 series T20 against South Africa but the sh hope a lot of persons have been sharing your view and for whatever reason he’s not given that opportunity if we would recall way back when when you picked a squad it played test and one day international which is the 50 overs and then somewhere along the lines it started to be separated you had the test players and the W and some persons red ball and white and some persons would have been overlapping and now we’ve seen the t20s and the t10s and some people just play that start with that but I like the fact that you said it’s better to start with the longer version of the game to get your Technique right correct and then you could Al always improvise as opposed to start with the improvisation and then try to learn the correct technique and I think it’s only a matter of time before shaho plays the test consistently for the West Indies if you go back remember she open and brat W us that test in England some years ago when the and Sh up had centries in both Innings I think it was that LS could have been mhm yeah and um and then then from that he something happened and he just dominates white ball but the red ball I don’t know if he’s batting over the position cuz one of my friends Dr leer Nigel leer you probably know Nigel yes of course I know him yeah so he he actually said to me um shop is now batting at number three for West Indies you remember in that game he batted at number five so why are they now putting him at number three so maybe that’s the thing he maybe prefers when the ball doesn’t have as much shine is less hard and and to bat in those position so we probably have to look at things like that too but I think in West indes Cricket has been making is starting to go in the right direction and I’m I’m happy with it but how do you how would you commend on the fact that even B at number five some of the time you’re in the Wicket after the first over first two overs because you’re two three wickets down six RS for three wickets and the sort of thing that’s not normal yeah but it happens pretty pretty often and the same game I told you was Sandy Point lost a wecket I think without a a run on the board and at some point they were like 13 for four or five and the same Jamar Hamilton when he went in I thought he would have adopted much better to the situation MH but he went in woof woof and if you 13 for five he made it 13 for six really but I that’s a good point and even when the openers they’re encouraged to bat through and they’ll see the ball in all kind of conditions and basically be exposed to the barrage the entire barrage of artillery of Bowlers you have Spin and because there’s a thinking when it comes to Cricket that oh engl is in in Clan play spin so we’re going to put on the spin bowler or Pace bowler as the case maybe so that’s the how we we’re looking at things you’re listening to on the ball here at winnfm 98.9 I’m Troy Biff Mills and we have with us we honored to have with us in the studio Mr Ingleton Liber the general manager of cricket Canada and uh they have taken part in their first ever World Cup and they have the honor of first ever T20 first ever T20 World Cup pardon me and they have the honor of starting the ball rolling they’re playing the first match of the World Cup in group a Grand Prairie Stadium Dallas Texas 8:30 p.m. June the 1st against their neighbors yes the neighbors we actually just had a series against us so they must be feeling confident because we came out of a white ball tournament where we won all four matches including two against Scotland who you know what happened in Scotland and West Indies and the World Cup qualifiers and then we went to that and um Houston played a format series at Prairie not Grand Prairie at Prairie Stadium and we lost all four those T20 eyes against us so they must be feeling very confident but I I think we learned from that that is our guys don’t adopt well from coming from the even if it’s 50 over to T20 then not play and we you know we have not played a lot of T20 cricket so if you look at it I think it just was a learning experience and the confidence in the camp is much different different now so I think um you can and this world cup and you’re going to see a different ball game USA confident from today’s win at home maybe they may come in too confident but they have some good players I mean Cory Anderson for a New Zealand player M he won he played well today to help them win the game so they have some good strength there and I think um there’s also Aon Jones who played for Barbados okay yeah so it’s a lot of um good players in the US so we’re not going to take them lightly and um we we expecting a good crowd and a good game 466 0989 we the lines are open we are taking your calls or you can whatsa me 668 2055 and uh what is basically the long-term plan for Cricket Canada Cricket in Canada Engle well we um the long-term plan is for us um we want to get um to get into we want to start we’ve been talking quite a bit about starting maybe two day Cricket at a young age CU um one of the things we have is we don’t think that the junior cricketers although they play a lot of cricket it’s not they play more T20 cricket than anything else because what you find is the leagues Focus too much on the senior Cricket so the Juniors get to play in the morning finish and then the league matches start the senior matches start so we’re trying to get dedicated grounds for the um youth matches youth matches so that they can we can play 50 over and then maybe in this we’re trying to get some summer leagues um during the week so that they can play today as well so we feel that it’s important for them because I think since 2008 we’ve been going to the under 19 Cricket World Cup but not getting we I think twice we never did 2012 we didn’t get to the World Cup and last this year yeah this year’s World Cup we didn’t go but we find that we go to the World Cups and do won get past the first round so and our kids who were playing that on the 19s were playing they’re good for 20 to 30 overs and then the energy level goes down and that’s probably because they’re not playing the long longer version the longer version of the game right and I I think it’s in Barbados I don’t know if they do it still but their first class season they actually have three the matches right played over two weekends right I remember that the system like I’m not certain if they have it and I I kind of like that idea of course it’s completely different between this weekend and last weekend or this weekend and next weekend yeah but at least you you get an opportunity to play that 3-day that that version of the game and to me that that was very very creative but then the youngsters today even Spectators they go and I think they’re more inclined to go to the shorter version of the game MH for the excitement and it is so heavily commercialized that and you mentioned it earlier you have companies are coming on board and asking you to get into that right and they’re sh away and it’s really tough after 5 days you playing from 10:00 in the morning to 5: in the afternoon for five straight days a whole walking week and at the end of that nobody win the game that’s so true that that is hard to explain to some people and I’ve seen the CPL here a lot of youngsters school children go especially girls and they go to Lime because their friends going and when they hear shout they turn around yeah and they shout and they ask what happened right and they leave the game they don’t even know who played never mind who they just had fun it’s all about that and hence the younger generation and that is generally with them in my humble view I don’t think they can maintain focus and concentration for two long per two long periods they’re easily frustrated they easily barded and perhaps that is the challenge you’re seeing with the with that in the cricket but you’ll have to get into that and get into that mindset and create the environment for for that to happen because yes there’s the on 19 World Cup and who knows when they may make the a team and they play Four the test matches yeah they can yeah so that development path one of the things that we had recently that um get Cricket in the mainstream and got people talking a lot because we get into the World Cup but then you know baseball is very big in Canada so the Blue Jays Toronto’s team and um they had Cricket at the Ballpark so we were able to take the World Cup trophy to the Ball Game the first um and it going sound a lot but the first 15,000 people got Cricket hat wow went in and they all went 15,000 that’s the exactly yeah so the first 15,000 people in the stadium got um Cricket floppy hats MH uh the BL with the Blue Jays logo they had lots of giveaways and one of our team captain actually got to throw out the first pitch wow that’s interesting I like that and we unveiled Our World Cup jerseys at there so it was fantastic to see the cricket and it’s worked good for Cricket and baseball because baseball got some new fans cuz a lot of cricket fans went out to the ball to the ball game because of the trophy tour and then Cricket got new fans cuz they were join the game game they had the Bas the Blue Jays mascot with some of our cricketers okay and going they’re showing him different Cricket drills and how it’s played and stuff so those kind of things happen and and just Bramton city which is Bramton is probably the home of cricket in Canada that’s where we play our gt20 and stuff and they may have just unveiled that same trophy tour weekend that they’re opening up um spe specific fields to have Little League cricket just like have little league baseball interesting so they’re going to try and help to get the kids from a very very young age and that would be great that that sounds very very interesting indeed Cricket in the in the Olympics mhm that’s going to happen in the next few years 2028 yeah are you looking at that is Canada of being a part of that historic moment we would love to be but um we’re hearing rumors we don’t know the format yet we we know it’s only 16 there all the new um um team sports into the Olympics only allowed six teams so IC I don’t think and the Olympic Committee has said how many T how the what’s the format we’re hoping that’s going to be a qualification for as opposed to the top six IC ranking right cuz that’s what the rumor we hear in the top six weeks six teams and maybe like the commonweal games if West is in that top six then they will have a playoff within the West Indies for one of the teams to represent because he can’t play as the West Indies correct right so we’re just um hoping that in fact we have been realistic and thinking that um hoping that Cricket continues to be in the world cup and aiming towards more like a 2032 2036 cuz um we thinking that it’s going to be pretty impossible to get into the first one well based on what you saying if you look at the the model with football everybody has to play for his spot basically except the host so if they’re going to use that model you have six teams and apart from having joint hosts like the West Indies and and car the and the us at the moment assuming that you’re going to have one host Canada then you would want to believe that I will believe that five those other five teams would come from qualification around all the different confederations well I’m sure USA is hoping that but um KN I and I shouldn’t say knowing I the thinking what have here rumors is it may not happen but the H should be there and um yeah look at the soccer in 2026 is Canada Mexico and USA hoston and I hope you come to Canada and watch definitely definitely especially if I got to get a chick up there who knows got to talk to you to come watch a couple of games there tickets are going to be tough to get but we’ll get you yes yes uh but um yeah I think um the host should always be playing in once you’re host in the World Cup just like any of the other team sports but you mentioned the fact too West Indies can’t won’t can’t and won’t play as a unit it would have to be S it’s Ani Antiga Barbados etc etc and I know a lot of these smaller countries they are looking forward to at least getting how far they’ll get I’m not certain because they don’t have the resources finan Human Resources the facilities right and perhaps the the support the sponsorship per say but no doubt they’ll give it a shot say well hey I try to quiet to to make the Olympics I’m sure um I mean look at I think is a women’s women’s Commonwealth Games Barbados represented the region exactly right so a lot of the countries will be looking for a chance when I played Commonwealth Games um way back think Antiga and Barbo is there actually yeah so yeah I think and that’s an opportunity for some of the islands cuz you know there’s always that argument to sud you play alone I always see especially when w is not playing well you see people start to say um it’s time for Gana to go to loan time for Barbados Antiga and so Antiga think and Barbados Antiga at one point had a very strong team you know that six seven eight players the West Indies setup female how is your female Cricket in in Canada we um we’re getting there we’re starting to develop in fact we’re just now working on a plan to have under 19 we have a a wom women’s program we have probably about um I think 12 women’s team uh clubs that play Le League cricket and one of our players actually represented leward Island Divia sex yeah she’s a captain so we at one point we were dominated and and um it’s unfortunate because Canada was top women’s team in the region in America’s region 2013 or thereabouts we won the re Regional Championship and for some reason I America’s just stopped women’s Cricket wow so it was nothing happened until maybe about four years ago and then America somehow just got so strong you know I mean they’ve got the people they got strong strong they had a good program and we are playing catch up in a bit but um we sure we we lost two two years ago we lost two we came third last year we were second and um I think we’re getting closer so you’re heading up yeah a few years ago there was this conversation about a female player from Australia who had taken a sex change for want of a better expression transgender yeah and wanted to play for Canada she did play she did play yeah but how is that now is she still involved is she still involv I feel a little uncomfortable saying she but anyway is that still involved um no the players not still involved because uh at the point when um she played um I see she had the rule where transgender players was allowed and I know it created a lot of controversy because there was even even PE Morgan was commenting about it and it was all over the world I got calls from BBC I had to do interviews and and you know it was allowed at the time in the rules but since that tournament and where she played was last year in La um it the the um changing rules so she’s not allowed to play anymore but that game Canada’s first game against the USA was the largest audience for in the region viewing audience much for for and I think it was just curiosity you know people wanted to see so and there was so much um written around it on BBC and different places so yeah but no the rules have changed they Chang the rules last year in October I think not October tournament was November so sometime after that the rules were changed yeah so she’s not allow transgender players are not allowed and once you’ve gone through I think puberty and no you can’t well I believe in staying in your lane according to the lead calan rock rock yeah if you’re born a male you stay a male and you whatever you participate in it will be m M if you born a female you stay in the female Lane and you participate in anything it would have to be as a female that’s just my humble View and some persons have a different View and that is okay but I I don’t believe so because even thinking about it biologically mhm men are physically stronger generally than women and could you imagine me as a man taking a sex change I’m now a woman going to play football as a matter of fact FIFA has I think FIFA has had that situation FIFA I think a Canadian actually as well Canada always it’s a Lo it’s a Lo um in fact um after the situation when ICC made a rule change you know I had a lot of calls from um gender Equity people and stuff in Canada asking me what are we going to do about it how are we going to fight it and Chans like that so it is allowed and um it’s something you know the L g btq whatever it is come I can’t remember the full acronyms but those communities are quite involved and there’s a lot of talk about gender equity and challenges so yeah I think also Zeke is coming on here know later on there was a a golfer transgender golfer in Florida won a few tournaments and then they um people decided no she can’t play in tournaments anymore so I I I know people have viewed just you know because of my position and I just I have my views but I’ll keep some to myself I I understand that you position and I want us anybody’s ask me questions about it I go by whatever is allowed at the time because they asked me the question how did the person get into the Canadian team and the rules allowed it so we allowed it yeah once you’re not breaking the rules I mean I I I could understand that but that’s always going to be be something yeah and I understand that just saying because um yeah one of the writers in Canada actually got in some trouble because um we wrote an article about her um her name was Daniel Daniel had the strength of a man you know and stuff like that and um as you said it’s different it’s different and um I think was it weightlifting in the Olympics or one of those sports or swimming had a also transgender athlete yeah but it’s a tough one I’m going to in my L yeah I’m not changing for anybody correct and but in in wrapping up how well we we mentioned the the female and and the cricket but do you see yourself participating in other IC tournaments for us in Canada well we just yeah Canada just we just got back on one ODI status one day status and over the next four years we probably even play more cuz once you get into that I League two where you’re trying to qualify for the World Cup over the next three years we have 36 ODI matches okay so that’s probably even like this year we’ve played four already then we have another eight coming up and um that’s and we probably played 12 a year so that’s going to be probably even so much cricket and plus the bilaterals because we played official IC would be eight and then we played um a series against Nepal as well and then we should be having a series possibly later on this year against um Scotland and after each of those T20 I mean ODI series the idea is to stay back cuz it’s triangular Series so it’s three teams Tri series and those three teams will play a series of um t20s as well so we’re playing more and more Cricket so we expect we leading the table right now in the ODI it’s early stages but we’re leading and we’re hoping that we can keep the momentum and get into the World Cup the 50 over World Cup because we haven’t been in a 50 over World Cup since 2011 we have been to four World Cups I always say to people um Canada and Sri Lanka went to the first World Cup together but Sri Lanka’s Cricket has gone way ahead yes you know so ADV yeah it’s Advanced so much more but um we’re hoping that Canada can get back back to that stage getting the ODI status was a big great deal because over 10 years without it it’s really fantastic but congratulations on being reinstated that ODI status and I’m hoping that we might see some little Davids coming down against Goliath in your Zone yeah group a I’m just hoping that the guys don’t um get Star Struck cuz sometimes when you play against the people that you look up to like the verad Coles and the bomas and stuff you might just stay there steering you know but um keep trying to tell them that as you said earlier the ball is round it you don’t play the person you play what you see on the day right exactly it’s on the day it’s all about on the day no matter what would have happened before MH and it comes down to that group a India Pakistan Ireland Canada United States and we wish you all the best Engle for very ious reasons Canada our neighbors and a lot of persons I’ve heard predictions India Pakistan Australia and England I think in the semi-finals but everybody would have to play everybody have to play but I mean a lot of people are counting out the home team but I think um home team advantage on West Indies as a West indan I would say I think West Indies has a good team for this world cup I’m not going to put you on this spot and say if West Indies have to come up against Canada where your heart going to be I’m not going to put you on um well we’re in the same we’re in the same um Confederation no we’re in the same WhatsApp group chat and I don’t know if you remember um maybe about a year ago I put in there that um we would love to play against West Indies and our good friend John responded to it you know CU I said to him at the time I feel we could compete with West Indies and and I think if for us to get better we want to play against West Indies play against top Nation you have to yeah unless we get that opportunity and I think um the bar is getting closer there’s not theas and the vi Richards and stuff anymore so I think on a day you we can compete but it’s just is it today or yesterday I was telling someone look at Bangladesh Afghanistan Zimbabwe when they started they were everybody’s bullies exactly but they’ have advanced yes they may not be so consistent but they have some of the best cricket in the world especially at the in the white ball yeah and uh so it it it always start there you don’t expect to start high up but you start and perhaps that’s the better way you start at the bottom and you build your way up and at the end of the day when you taste success that is sweeter than if you got to come in at a high level true uh you don’t have much but any final words you would have to say Engle before we leave um yeah I’m just happy to be home I’m sad that I have to leave on Thursday but um you know say all good things come to an end and um yeah I’m happy for the support um a lot of people came around wish me the best uh came and look had a look at us um to see what we’re doing uh and you know thankful to the senet um government ministers actually came and met us when we when we got to the airport and Minister SP and and my good friend Kenny as well as there Douglas yeah so I think um happy to see the support that we got and and um feeling at home and um I think a lot of the guys will they may come back on their own and that’s the thing about bringing a team to the Caribbean and to S kits is because you don’t want them to just come when you come with a team you want them to feel how you can come back cuz one of the guys actually has his own business in Canada and yesterday he was drilling me like um how to get into business in syit so he’s probably looking around and seeing that there are opportunities and and want to come back here he ask me about investing in the country and stuff so if um bringing teams in I can help that way I’m happy that have need get even if one person come and invest I’m happy that that happens you know so but as I said I’m grateful for all the help and the support that we’ve been getting at Wana Park Percy has been doing good job with us as Alazan and um look forward to probably starting a relationship where we can come to sinkus more often and if not the senior national team at least have our high performance and junior teams come here and play that’s indeed the the benefit of sports tourism I think that’s a powerful thing and I thank you again for choosing s kits and the nevas I hope you well s kits I hope you get a chance you and your players to go over to nevas even for a few hours it unfortunately don’t look that way we were hoping to go to NAS tomorrow but because of our rescheduling games we have a game tomorrow afternoon but next time we’ll try and plan it to that we have games in both Islands it was a short thought US 10 days but the next time for show we’ll do that and I I meant to say to um one of the things I do a lot now try is play golf so next time I come home in this time I want to make sure I playing the sink it’s open I’m sure Zeke would glad to hear that he may invite on you team yeah I actually played with Zeke when I was here last year and he was in Toronto sometime and we played together so looking forward to playing the sink it’s open at one point well that’s one of the games the ball games I haven’t dabbled with at all golf uh knock a ball halfway around the country you lost it you find it you knock it half again you look it but I I think it’s it’s catching on it is and uh I’ll dabble in it one of these days I’m thinking about but when you start it’s it’s addictive okay well again I thank you for choosing St K Anis and most certainly thank you for being with with us here and on the ball at win FM 98.9 it’s not going to be the first time because knows there’s always Zoom there’s always WhatsApp the conversation far but still close and of course I wish you and your Canada team great the greatest success and ideally going on having fun as the players had I saw them and they looking technically sound the bowling the team spirit that was all really awesome on the field the match I Ed right and you came out Victorious and the way you stood on the pressure because at one point it looked like Papa New Guinea it was easy sailing for Papa New Guinea I felt well Bo look like Canada going down to them but then you stuck and you stayed with it and you overturn it and that time they had about three four five wickets down and uh you guys came back so that that staying power is important and I hope you carry that into the T20 again best wishes and be safe I hope your players don’t suffer any injuries and you have your best tournament ever thank you you’ve been listening to in liard the general manager for Canada Cricket Canada and he’s been speaking with us here at on the ball win FM 98.9 and stick and stay don’t go away we’ll be back in a sec or two [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] best and hope they go very far we have in group a India Pakistan Ireland Canada United States Group B England Australia Namibia and Namibia they here in St kits Scotland om and down in Barbados therefore for 10day Camp Group C New Zealand West Indies Afghanistan Papa new guini and Uganda Papa new guini they also here in camping out in St kids Group D South Africa Sri Lanka Bangladesh Netherlands Nepal now if I have to choose a group of death in competitions jamster these World competitions but not only World Euros Etc there’s always a group of death where you have two teams coming out of the Zone but you have three or four hard teams in it so there’ll be the Weeping and nation of teeth and if I have to make some prediction Group D South Africa Sri Lanka Bangladesh Netherlands Nepal I think definitely South Africa will come out of the group perhaps it’s a tough tossup between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Group C New Zealand West Indies Afghanistan Papa new guine Uganda West Indies will come out of that group along with I Can’t Take My Eyes Off of Afghanistan New Zealand or Afghanistan the tossup is going to be between there England Australia Namibia Scotland om I think it’s easy pickings for England and Australia not in any order but Pakistan sorry Scotland could upset some people India Pakistan Ireland Canada the United States pundit May feeli in Pakistan but Canada they’ve been improving they could upset and if they got to come out victories against irand and United States and then squeeze a victory between India Pakistan hey Canada will be out of the group and into the Super Eight and the World Cup that is happening starting June Saturday June 1st Saturday that’s next week Saturday 8:30 p.m. the United States versus Canada and again they played the first ever International match between them back in 1830 something 1840 something West indes coming up against Papa New Guinea they are in group C Providence Stadium Guyana that is on June the 2nd stadium New York and Afghanistan versus Uganda the 5ifth group C Providence Stadium in Guyana 8:30 p.m. so we’re going to be having a lot of cricket happening and talking about that the West Indies they would have named a a team to come up against South Africa in a three match series and they’re going to be playing three t20s May the 23rd which is Thursday Thursday the 23rd Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of May all three matches are going to be played in Jamaica and that’s warm-up series for the West Indies and the squad to face South Africa Brandon King the captain Wason Chase Vice Captain Fabian Allen Alec aanes Johnson Charles Andrew Fletcher Matthew Ford Jason holder Akil Hussein Shamar Joseph Kyle Mayors OED McCoy GES Mory Romario Shephard haen Walsh Jr they are the ones who going to be coming up against the South Africans and I saw an ad vended South Africa jamster would you pay $3,000 to go and watch a a T20 match jamster shakes his head in in negative that’s what the Jamaicans are going to have to pay to see the three each match to see the West Indies that’s only 20 years jamster 20$ 3,000 Jamaican dollars only 20 years so would you want pay 20 years to go and see at the 20 International okay so why you don’t want to pay $3,000 and that is $3,000 Jamaican dollars 20 years for the adults $1,500 Jamaica $1,500 Jamaican dollars or 10 years for children 16 as well as seniors by three match days for the price of two season ticket tickets as we call them and that is for the three match Series against South Africa in Jamaica and the West Indies they’re going to be playing a warm-up match versus Australia that is uh when is that game May the 30th May the 30th 7:00 p.m. $200 jumpster to go and see that match that’s 200 TI which is 30 us and may the 30th May the 30th what day May the 30th is next week Thursday 7 p.m. Queens Park oval in Trinidad that is a warmup match and happy related birthday to druml waran yesterday was actually his birthday so I don’t know if he’s concentrating on that or he’s actually having fun and the the CPL fixtures have been out and Thursday the 29th Anda and bar the Falcons versus the St kevis Patriots in Antiga Friday the 30th the Falcons versus Ghana Amazon Warriors Antiga both gamees 7 P.M Saturday 31st o August s kis Patriots versus Trinidad Night Riders 7 p.m. and we’re going to be seeing Sunday the 4th September 700 p.m. St kevis Patriots St Lucia Kings Wednesday the 4th September St kevis Patriots Ghana Amazon Warrior these are the S kits matches and Friday 6th September Barbados Royal sevis Patriots 7:00 p.m. and the final match Sunday 8th think it’s an NIS Patriots and TGA baruda Falcons so we’re getting to see Trinidad Riders St Lucia Kings Ghana Amazon Warriors Barbados Royals and the only team we’re not getting to see is Jamaica talawa oh no Jamaica they’re not in it Jam so we’re going to be hearing more about that but if we go quickly to football why jamster all kind of things happening with football in know jamster all kind of things happening with football here in s kids I made a prediction jamster ear before the season start actually that I believe bat Hot Springs bat and Old Road jets are going to be in the final four this year and I also made another prediction that I expect one of them to be winning the championship the National Bank Premier League within the next three years this year next year or the year after and within 5 years from now both of them would have won the championship at least one and all kind of things happening in the Premier League should I start with the table no let me not start with the table let me start with the points and we we haven’t seen the director of sports but we’re expecting Mr Zeke persal to be coming in any time now so results Friday 17th May 2024 in the Premier National Bank group of companies Premier Division chaala South Stars went down 1 n to Sal Island utto connory compliments Jan Stanley on own goal in the 66th minute on Saturday [Music] 18th it remained Even Stevens between skelet garden hot Spurs and Montville Farm clean white United old world Jets nobody was able to score and the same score between Rams Ville Superstars and Development Bank St Peters nil nil we had two players [Music] from Rams Village Su well Village one from Village gavan Amory in the 63rd and Miguel Crawford from St peters’s in the 63rd and both of them getting cards in the 63rd minute suggest that there was some kind of scrabbler fight on Sunday the 19th Hot Springs bat United they held off for 44 minutes before Marvin Lewis of azul Kon Rockets put a bulge in the old onion bag netting for Azul K roets in the 44th minute and that is how it stayed after 90 minutes and noting Kon Rockets they have now they now have a new sponsor they are no longer FL 4G K Rockets but instead they are Azul and we must say thank you to Flo Flo for coming on board and sponsoring K Rockets over the last few years I think it has been more than a decade and congratulate Azul printers for coming on board and sponsoring the Kon rockets in the second game I jamster SL Harford St Paul’s on a losing streak for the last few games you know I hope they ain’t Peak too early Honda Newtown United had a goal from Jamar Smith in the 12 minute versus SL hor for St Paul’s United and that is how it ended so that’s three matches also the champ the runners up last year would have lost in the last four matches and goalkeeper coach from New Town Akil Byron he got a he was shown the red card in the 90 plus 7 minute now in my humble view jamster the game going to done referee going to put him Miss in the mouth and you’re going to get a red guard that’s the height of stupidity in my humble view 90 plus 7 minutes I mean you’re 7 minutes into extra time and you’re going to get a red card and your team leading something wrong with us jamster but that’s just my humble view so if we now look at the points table for the premier National Bank Premier League trala South Stars they are maintaining a perfect record jamster they’ve lost all 10 matches they have a perfect record for their losses played 10 they’ve Lo sorry played 12 lost all 12 skellet Garden hot Spurs they’ve been cementing their position in that relegation zone They in ninth with two victories five draws five losses 11 points Soul Island AO connory flirting with relegation they in eight 16 points all fours four victories four drawns four losses a three-way tie for position five six and seven seven Honda Newtown United win in five losing two drawing two losing five they have a goal defense of minus three they’ve scored 12 they’ve given up 15 so they have 17 points Hot Springs bat United in sixth same 17 points winning five drawing two losing five similar to new town and and they have a goal difference of a perfect zero they’ve scored 12 they’ve given up 12 Development Bank St Peters they’ve been basically cting in fifth position for the last few weeks they’ve W four drawn five lost three 17 points they have 16 goals for sorry 21 goals for and they’ve given up 16 so they have a goal difference of five between one and four four points separating them Rams Village Superstars the defending Champions 19 points five victories four draw and masses three losses old W and St Paul’s tie for second SL Horford St Paul’s in third compliments an inferior goal difference both teams on 21 points St Paul’s six victories three drawn matches three losses they’ve scored 22 goals given up 11 so they have a goal difference of 11 Montville Farm clean right United old Ro Jets 21 points as well they’ve won five drawn six lost one and they are the most prolific goal scoring team they’ve scored 26 they’ve given up nine and they the stingiest team as well the only team in single figures when it comes to goal against nine so they have a goal difference of 17 and out front two points ahead of the second third place four points ahead of the fourth place Rams Superstars we have Azul Kon Rockets winning six drawing five losing one they have 23 points they’ve scored 19 given up 12 and in terms of the leading goal scorers we have a four-way tie on seven goals kund Clark and ke wife Fen from SL Horford St Paul’s United kimari Rogers ramv Superstars nickan brown nickan brown Montville Farm clean right United Old Road Jets and Javon Matthew of Soul Island a connory he has six point six goals so very interesting day and we’re going to come to the the schedules coming up and if we go to the first division Friday the 17th and hold on hold on before we go to Friday the 17th let us try and get the results from the earlier in the week [Music] uh a lot of things happening in the first division uh the 14th to the Tuesday 14th May at the National Bank group of companies Technical Center mantab put a throb in 60 on rivers of Living Waters Everly Davis in the 13th a zamb Alexander doubled it in the 35th kimal French had a hatrick in the 48 68 and 76 minute T dujan 79th minute red card Pastor Ira Penny of rivers in the 15th minute but that isn’t as bad as it sounds jamster he received a second yellow card got people saying pass pass the penny g a red card and he he he would have gotten two yellow cards for reckless challenges or tackles or something to that effect in the on Thursday Cony Fireballs went down by the slimmest of margins to trans Global de Eagles 32 it was 1 21 in favor of De halftime in the 15th minute Ronaldo Matthew of De Bay opened the attack dkes came back in the 23rd minute and equalized and just on the stroke of halftime Sean Liber of De Bay he put his team ahead in the 45th plus 3 minutes and when they came back 7 minutes after they came back n bage he brought the things back on level terms again in the 52 minute and 14 16 minutes after that keny hudge gave trans Global Engineering de be Eagles all three points Lansbury Williams Fireballs red card in the 41st Curtis Sergeant Fireballs red card in the 83rd Dwight hoggins Fireballs red card at the end of the match oh were these guys here about and it was fast cast saddlers versus Jones group Sandy Point nil nil halftime 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes CT Mills of saddlers giving them the lead as soon as they came back from halftime in the 46th minute Deshawn Collins equalizing in the 57th minute for Jones group Sandy Point that’s how it ended and on Friday 17th Security Forces took care of business against 607 construction Lodge Patriots 3-0 after being two halftime Karim bur in the 35th Carlos ventur in the 45th plus three and Shamar Douglas putting the game Beyond reaching the 81st minute gitri Stapleton of Lodge he got he was shown the red card in the 75th minute the nine and obvious score goal scoring opportunity that is different to the n a goal remember a few World Cups ago jamster when Suarez for Paraguay I think he was ball beat the goalkeeper going to the middle of the goal swells became the goalkeeper put up here and stopped the ball I think it was Sagal some African team got a penalty and kicked it wide so he’s going to the tunnel and he’s in Jubilation but this now the nine and obvious goal scoring opportunity a player going and being foued the obvious he had the opportunity to score as opposed to Suarez he denied a goal and once you foul a man there even if it is a careless foul where noad should shown for no car shown for a k foul you’re the nine and obvious goal scoring opportunity and you’re going get all the show KFC Trinity Challengers went down one n to malho after being tied at halftime Ronald Ronald Williams Jr in the 90 plus 3 minute giving maleno all three points snatching Victory from the jaws of a draw and I keep saying you something happening over in Malino I don’t know you know Marly knew something happening with them this year I probably have to do an interview with them because last season seven showing up the losing game by default not having enough men but this year they putting blows on some people we had red cards from Malik Haj Malin in the 77th Kan alista challengers in the 79th and Damian harle hanley’s challenges in the 83rd minute so that is how the games went and if we look at the points table some teams have played 11 matches some have played 10 and we’re into the second round both divisions rivers of Living Water wow this they scrape a point they have one drawn match they in 10 position KFC Trinity Challengers United they are in ninth tied on four points but they have a goal defense of minus 45 that is a lot of goals Rams rivers of Living Water their goal Defence by the way is minus 58 which is a ton load of goals KFC Trinity Challengers winning one drawing one losing nine they have scored nine goals they’ve given up 54 so have a goal defense of minus 45 607 construction Lodge Patriots they’ve W one drawn one lost eight scor 11 had 36 scored against them they have a goal defense of 36 they have four points conary fire balls International s winning four and connory Lodge Liv rivers of Living Waters along with d they’ve only played 10 all the others played 11 so connory win four L six 18 goals for 25 against 12 points goal difference minus 7 Malu in sixth this is a big Improvement for Malin and I commend them Kevan the coach and I think Penny the president something are keeping Malo winning four drawing two losing five scoring 16 giving up 20 they have 14 points goal defense minus four two teams tied for fourth on points but separated by goal difference trans Global Engineering de Bay eagles they one of the four teams that only played 10 matches they’ve won five drawn five they one of two teams yet to lose a match in the first division they’ve scored 32 goals they’ve given up nine pretty stingy at the back and pretty prolific they have a goal difference of 23 they have 20 points fast cast sadders United they on Fourth by a superior goal difference winning six dra try two losing three and we have 43 points talking about that jamer I haven’t seen Zeke I haven’t F from Zeke Zeke come like Zeke posal far sleep on me man he was to be here at 8:30 it’s now 8:45 we might be able to squeeze him in still so where are we fast C saddlers they’ve scored 43 given up nine they have a goal difference of 34 Jones group Sandy Point they held on to the first position for the first few weeks but ever since this thing happened with them and security forces where they didn’t have a qualified coach on the bench or something and they beat Security Forces 1 n security forces protested sanday point and the protest was upheld sanday Point lost the match so then now in third winning seven drawing two losing two they’ve scored 34 given up 12 they have a goal difference of 22 23 points in second and they’re tied with mantab but in third by by an inferior goal difference mantab winning seven drawing two losing two they’ve scored 35 goals manab and I think those 35 oh no that’s Saddler Sadler scored a 16 n so they have 43 goals a manab scoring 35 giv up 13 a goal difference of 22 same 23 points and out front Security Forces United remember they were relegated last year along with saddlers and security forces and de Bay eagles the only two teams not to have lost a match as yet Security Forces winning nine drawing two they’ve played 11 35 goals for seven against 28 goal difference and 29 Points and it’s all happening at the first division level and if you look at matches coming up actually today the 21st first Division mantab and molu they engage each other at 600 p.m. and at 8:00 p.m. just about the end the first half now another division one KFC TR Trinity Challenger and fast Clash were doing battle tomorrow Wednesday guard spear Division 1 trans Global Engineering de Eagles Security Forces 7 p.m. at the technical chance to finish col Smith and C Smith colie and C Smith sorry what was yeah there would been the very first two brothers to make the rest in his team was there before the chap Brothers was there before the F brothers from Zab was there before the brothers from New Zealand the brothers okay Australia went further and had three brothers playing for the West IND playing for Australia sorry why got three Louis brothers look at how dirty this thing be the El Louis brother before he could have had the injuries before he took the most wickets last year and again this let me sleep in we it’s now 8:59 so you have to WRA talking I was trying to get in and I wasn’t able to get in please accommodate me please accommodate me please please please I’m begging please because we can’t too much praise brother you know you gotd brother coming into you please accommodate me because here the first time in West this 1928 about 1928 almost 100 years ago 4 years left 100 years and we had the very we put the very first player on the this team but the old last year get the most wickets he come back again this get the most wickets he made in his a team and he being denied a selection but younger brother his very first year the most runs and the rest in his team something wrong with the selectors and we should have been here on the radio talking about these things that is what we should have been doing the basketball and 10 seconds pleas okay please anyway next week Tuesday okay I appreciate that thank you very much sir for calling in the thing about it is we we have heard we have seen on social media items about Louie mikai Louie making the West Indies team we have seen we have heard I have I have not seen anything official I have not rece seen nor heard a release from the West indis Cricket Board though I’m going to be extremely excited when the announcement is made that Kyle made the West Indies team what we’re seeing I don’t think I cannot say it’s official because I haven’t seen it from an official Source it’s not on the west IND this Instagram it’s not on their Facebook it’s not on their website and there hasn’t been a press conference so I I appreciate the fact yes but when we at wifm any part of wifm me myself when we give information it has to be credible information we must be able to say the source so you caller could go and say yes I S for myself but as we speak tonight before I came on the program I haven’t checked but before I came on the program there was no official release from the West Indies board so it is anticipating and then maybe you didn’t hear earlier in the program but he from my research he is in Antiga with the West Indies team in camp at the co cricket ground working out with them and I gather that happens just before the announcement that that person is on the West Indies team so let me put it again from my understanding my research Kyle is currently in Antiga with the West Indies team undergoing some training and my further research suggests indicates that that happens to players who will be announced as part of the West Indies team so but I cannot say for a fact I haven’t seen anything but I understand your passion thank you very much for calling in and we now have to wrap up ladies and gentlemen I thank you very much for being a part of on the ball here at win FM 98.9 I invite you to tune in again next
