hanging at that beach bar uh Bonnie and Bonnie and Reeds and he’s got a his face is really red he looks like he a little son on him go back Mike Carl is the only person in South Jersey who has seen son recently do you know I know right with all this like are we ever gonna see the sun it was beautiful down there hey uh hey Josh uh I didn’t think we’re were gonna get Carlin Carlin back from uh from the from that bar that area down there Hollywood he said it’s nuts it’s unbelievable you gotta quick ride down I’m tell you it’s fabulous I mean you know this guy he doesn’t wear he doesn’t wear I don’t think you ever seen Carlin in shoes oh never maybe once like maybe if it was like you wear you wear flip you wore flip-flops throughout the whole winter unless it’s raining or snoow on the ground you got flipflops on right now yes I think I think there was one remote that we did bill when it was like really raining and I saw him wearing sneakers I don’t think I’ve ever seen him I don’t digest synopsis there was a accident at 5 AM yesterday morning where a a pedestrian was killed right by one of the shuttle buses for those you don’t know there’s a one way in and one way out the Valhalla Golf Course so for example it’s not like some golf course where there’s multiple entry points right it’s literally a bottleneck so Sheffer is driving a PGA Tour certified vehicle says on the vehicle PGA of America you know he gets to the one checkpoint and the guy says yep you’re Sky Sheffer go ahead he gets to the point where he’s driving around traffic the barricaded area basically the cut area cut off for the accident and there was an officer that told him he couldn’t go any further to yeah told him but the problem is the officer never identified himself and if you go back and watch the video yeah but he did have one of those reflector vests on but it’s the thing go back and watch vide no I don’t know if it said police on didn’t say police on it so if you go back and watch the video it’s online half the officers have identifying marking to say police half of them don’t but so this guy never identified himself sheffler go just some random dude when Sheffer finally stops the guy rips him out of the car throws him on the hood of the car well he the officer grabbed the car as he was taken off and was dragged a little while he was dragged a little that was his own fault he grabbed the car why would he do that first of all why would you grab a car okay second of all is it really necessary to rip the guy out of the car and throw him on was just trying to make a name for himself exactly so now sheer Sheffer basically has put out there that you know he thinks it’s a big misunderstanding well I saw the after after he got done his round by the way he shot a 66 yeah he’s a machine he gets the first hole first hole all right so that that was you know yesterday’s news and uh you wake up yesterday morning as Scotty she was going to jail you’re like for what Wednesday I went to the the Phillies game wedness day yeah witness day what’ you say wedness day wedness day go to the Phillies game my daughter Elijah Grace and I went to the Philly and the books uh Dave sharan’s daughters were supposed to show up to the Mets it was pooring rain it was just we we got soaked but but why I’m telling you this is uh there are guys that are good guys with the fans and there’s guys that you know don’t I guess they don’t even know you’re there yeah they don’t even know you’re there so my daughter runs down so Dominic Mariani from p Dr Dominic Mariani from Pensa and spine at rehab gave us the tickets and he’s given the show tickets to give away several times he gives us four seats I give the books daughters two seats and we take the other two AG goes down to the uh to The Dugout and she’s uh she’s looking down the Dugout who comes walking out Brandon Marsh nice she goes brand she had a ball AG brought a ball because she had a foul ball from the couple games before she goes Brandon can you please can you please send sign my ball he looked up they made contact he came right over to her gave her a high five and signed the ball made her whole night she won’t forget it forget the night she won’t forget that yeah it was great man it brought tears to my eyes that was very nice of him and can I say this is a part of the reason why this Phillies team is loved this is a good group of human beings this is not just a group good group of ball players right they like each other like to play with each other they’re good human beings they they love the game of baseball they love the fans it it’s a different vibe with this team than some other teams over the years again it’s no disparagement on other team necessarily but it’s the idea that when the Good Vibes are going right people like to play together people like each other they’re good people because you guys know we’ve all had jobs where we’ve worked with people oh yes and you’re just like I got work every day because you got to see certain people or people certain people aren’t nice you know what I mean are receptive to your niceties exactly I mean and or or for example maybe the person is nice to you but you’re out on like a work a work job and you notice the guy is rude to other people you know like well not Brandon Marsh no I gotta tell you you know he’s got a lot of freckles you got depending on what book you go to is either plus 600 or plus 800 there you go between that range but he’s not even the favorite on his own team that’s what I’m saying I mean it’s unbelievable Zack Wheeler is the favorite someone knows something guys I think you know what it is I think that there are certain pitchers or certain athletes they just never get the respect or the credit or the name he gave up six runs yeah okay now do we look at Zack Wheeler all of a sudden be like up he’s cooked he’s done well obviously not because he’s the favorite to win the odds for the national league Sai Young even after that game so we look at Ranger and we look at Zach and we say there’s probably a a layer Because unless you are like you know Roy Halliday and Cliff Lee at your Apex right you’re probably going to have a bumper or two in the road doesn’t mean Rangers could to have a bad rest of the year now and wait and he pitch he beat the Nationals which last year the Nationals gave him fits Nationals are a much better team this year and they gave him F he couldn’t beat them last year I think he was like he was like couple no decisions couple no decisions yeah look so let me ask you this Carlin are you worried about all the Innings like right now Zack Wheeler’s got 60 Innings pitched Rangers got 59 they got the most Innings pitched than the starters do than any any any team in the they they’ll know what to do and you know the Braves I mean despite the fact that the Braves are they got some injuries we have like and by the way we’re doing this out without Trey Turner we had well right now Trey Turner is on the injured list we had a few games there without schwarber and without Harper that’s it Harper all right uh the Phillies the Braves are 26 and 15 trying over here figure out what he’s talking about three three and a half games like the bra he’s he’s like my Aunt he like starts he start going in these like you know tangents that he jumps back just back and forth uh but the the the Braves they’re they’re keeping Pace I remember last year the Phillies were like eight games behind the Braves right off the bat well I I was listening to someone the other day on a national basis and they were saying there’s Dodgers Phillies Braves are pretty much locked into the playoffs right now yeah but you we’re not even in June but don’t forget Milwaukee they’re playing really well that’s their division I’m talking overall like like right now we don’t have to win our division we’re locked in we’re so far behind I mean ahead of team they’re on a like a 10 are they going to beat the 2011 Phillies with wins I think the 2011 Phillies had 102 wins the most wins in Phillies history were all by teams never won a World Series 102 right we be in the high like 97 Phil Phillies have three teams in their history that got a 100 wins and none of them even got is that important to you Mike Carlin it really doesn’t from what we saw the last couple years it doesn’t matter get in their head to say this is the town that you want to do over and Beyond kind of right like like this town will get behind you and you’ll get set for life I but I you know Mike I don’t think it’s it’s too early or do you think they’re trying ear trying get ahead of to say hey let’s do it now instead of waiting till July well it’s like what somebody else said this week you know um I forget who from MLB Network it might have been Mike L but he said you know when you’re a good baseball when you’re a really good baseball team and you have nothing to complain about you start talking about trades oh we need something we got to get something else well and that’s that’s exactly right Jos this conversation is the byproduct of this being a very good baseball team they got the third best this is my first question how come the only has n seems like every yeares drop out yeah they drop out because uh people who put these races together and I think it’s very unfortunate run the Preakness two weeks only two weeks after the Kentucky Derby most horses the best horses of course that qualifies dery those top 20 horses will run in the most prestigious race perhaps in the world and most of the trainers and owners of those great horses don’t want to bring their horse back after only two weeks IR respective of the first so I think that racing has made a mistake by bringing the P back two weeks later maybe years ago or decades ago that was something that horses were used to doing but not in today’s world not one ver I Mo which was a $2 million purchase as a year or even the nine horse in this race imagination was a $1.1 million purchase and it’s tough to bring these horses back on only two weeks rest it’s not fair to the horses yeah like it’s it’s it’s a like like any season like baseball season hockey it’s long six NFL six months you know there now the NBA players they they got a rest load management I guess these wor management right though yeah I mean the the fores are raing very fragile you know of all the controversy surrounding the racing industry and making sure that the horses need to be healthy to run to bring horse back in two weeks especially hes has ring run in the derby I think that’s but that’s the sport that we’re dealing with and hope make change one day in the meantime you ask the question why don’t we have as many horses because most of the horses bypass the pness and we look to the Belmont or some other extensive stre races around the country so know winning winning the Triple Town you’re exclusive territory right I mean not not all these not all these horses can do that no and like Jeffrey uh how it’s changed Jeffrey’s got it right on the ball here fores it used to be when you won the Derby the very first question was can’t wait till the right now if you watch two weeks ago when the Derby went the very first question that they asked the trainer was you looking forward to Derby right away we got he was like We’ll see like they’re already thinking we may not even go to we’ll wait New York for the change where this you go from One race to the next race now the rest in these we’re talking with the handic Jeffrey Nash all the way from Italy he’s in Rome but he still going to handicap the race for us so Jeffrey without any further Ado let’s let’s handicap the uh the prist today yeah I had to go to Rome to get away from the people I K fierceness in the Kentucky Derby um but uh in in this race as you said there are eight horses running I would call it a mediocre field some of the best horses in the in the country in the world the horse Sierra Leon who was in a photo finish with M man who won theu he decided not to run forever young the Japanese voice he was in that sort of finish and he decided not to run the only horse that came back other than the winner Mr Dan is uh was chasing freedom fortain and forth in that race and he’s back to to run there’s actually three of the Derby Runners um is Chason Freedom Mr F the winner and H just steel who did who finished out out of the money that are back in this race this race I have spent a lot of time looking at it had that long plane ride from from Philadelphia to Italy and I had a chance to really dig in and look at the horses I love a horse in this race who’s not a favorite and that’s the a tuskin gold and let me tell you why tusin gold did not run in m deran in fact he’s only run three times before uh the first two races were made in special weight he won the second race breaking is made in at 69 this is a $600,000 Ying third race ran into Louisiana derby with only two races on he lost two uh St in this race and it wel the Derby right out of Lan and that is if you analyze that race that was spectacular run or horse that was just broke as Maiden this horse is by Shad Brown and then you wonder if history repeats itself I say it may do it here in 2017 Tad Brown trained another horse that had only four Lan three races under his that was cloud computing he won the 2017 pness in his SCH start this is exactly the same road that gold has taken and I think he’s got a great chance heavy one one and uhu one horse uh the two horse heavy is everyone’s favorite horse because that is the local favorite that horse is owned by the mil family of South Jersey Fame they loes four and they through their trainer B read is an outstanding local Parts Philadelphia based trainer he uh he uh work the family to buy this work as a baby and heavy um really nowhere man course won wither steak and ran in a derby PR known as the Woodward steak up AC and if he had done better probably would have qualified the Derby Uncle heavy got involved in some difficult um positioning during the Woodward course actually fell during that race in front of Uncle heavy took him offride and never be to finish in that race missed the opportunity get the Derby come back here as a long shot but uh is a tough grinding force that he ended up running to be great for South Jersey because the family is well known in our part nice three Chas stratch mytic Dan he wins the Kentucky Derby in a photo finish which was I thought was pretty cool uh what do you think about his chances of uh repeating or at least winning the second leg of the crown well I hope history doesn’t repeat itself this time because I said in my analysis M van on paper uh could not compete with the horses in the Kentucky Derby of course I was wrong this man ended up getting the Bride of his life by a brilliant docky if you watch the race he squee him in along the inside and was able to get past the horses that were tiring in front of him and H on by half a nose when the two outside horses were coming on to get them but just I didn’t think he was to win the Derby won the Derby whether it’s a nose by 100 R doesn’t matter when you win you win I don’t see that race uh materializing here you would have to get extremely lucky uh in two weeks he did before weeks before would be I would not be surprised if he placed in the race the money wi this race against hus gold or the N hor imagination or even freedom I think for us to do again all right Jeffrey Nash give us your picks uh did you do were you gonna do an all explain to our listeners the all bet because that’s a pretty good bet Place yeah the all BET’s great and if you had the old B in the derby and you had the horses behind him Sierra Leon and Forever Young you would have won you know thousand on a Dollar Bet triple um because Mystic Mystic B would have been the all in that all is great when you only have eight horses running but what I like in this race I said goal to win nine horses trained by Bob B and many people uh are enamored with Bob success other people are outraged he was accused and one thing that stands as a that he has had 23 horses running inness seven of seven horses have won the pness no other trainer has seven horses to win the freakness you can’t discount Bob B he got an imagination they got a one million doll purchases Wheeling you know the pedigree is there you know the uh the Swarm is there he’s run six times he won uh he’s been in the money he’s won two and second four times so he’s never he’s always been first or second although the competition hasn’t been as great so you can’t discount him I’m going with the eight and the nine and then if I been a better Tri sector I would do and all bet 8 n and all bet but I also 8 n all in a in a box but don’t discount chasing Freedom so if I was going to do a super bet I would take the eight on top would the 39 all right Jeffrey Nash rough little bit you know so kind of laying in bed talking to you on the phone but I knew you soon as I got the text from you Billy I said I said I can’t no show because the kids kind of know show you the other day and I was mad about that yeah how about that but listen listen Carlin great to see I’m glad you’re back in the sadle all this traveling that you’re doing you know show up in the locker said well you know you have to call Billy because I didn’t even know I was in I was in Chicago yeah doing shows and traveling and all this other stuff I had no idea and um I’m I gota be honest I gotta be honest with you book the weather was horrible we got soaking wet it rained for the first three Innings I mean I’m surprised they didn’t delay the game because that the the field the conditions on the field were horrible there was like four or five errors in a game because the ball was so slick and we left in the we left in the fourth inning after my daughter uh got a her baseball signed by uh Brandon Marsh came right up to her gave her a high five and everything Billy I used to take the kids to the games all the time and it’s amazing how many balls we got and stuff we got sign the players love the kids um you know because if you wave them over Billy I mean despite the fact that you’re still really goodlook you always got the tan working and everything like they’re not going to give you the ball you know I mean so you got the kid next to you they look at the kid here’s the ball and it makes their day I love when they do that stuff I absolutely love Carlin said book my daughter when he signed that ball he gave her a high five everybody saw he came right up eye contact walked right over specifically to my daughter signed her ball gave her a high five it made her whole like she’ll never forget that as long as she lives she would you should seen the excitement on her face mik I’m Josh I’m telling you like like she had a Perpetual smile on her face it it made her whole day oh yeah and it always will like it always does and when as they get old older you hope they don’t lose that love of just the contact the people the sport because you know as you get older things happen and all these other things and you know that’s the the enthusiasm that you hope to capture young and keep as an adult and also it’s it’s you know we’re Dad we’re girl dads yeah having that Bond uh you know she like she’ll do girly things with my with my w my ex-wife she’ll do girly things my ex-wife but she does that this stuff with me and it’s I love it it’s it’s special so uh yeah it’s the best it’s like car going to the games to the games right Mike you like going to the games I do like going to the games I do I get spoiled going he wears his flipflops do you wear shoes in the games no that but at this level every team’s got what they call defensive specialist right that’s all they do they don’t rebound they don’t score but they can shut you down so now you go from a 25 30 point to maybe they say hold her to 18 can you hold her to 15 to 18 and you did your job right she’s going to see that night in and night out so you don’t think she’s gonna have the results her rookie year but she I look at her as being remember remember this name for the boys coming out C remember Christian lner yeah okay remember made the Dream Team yeah he was the only college player on right he was gonna be everything he never really panned that I mean he had a great care he turned out to be just a good player not a great there’s a difference between great and good she’ll have a good 10 15year career she’ll be a good player she’s not going to be what she was at I that’s my opinion I disagree on the last point but I agree on the first point so I think that people misunderstood the fact that when you go from a world where there’s like 200 schools with players right and now you concentrate the talent down to 12 to 15 teams you’re obviously changing the the talent level it’s going to be different she also played the two best offensive teams in the entire WNBA the first two games Connecticut and New York are the twoam in top list Connecticut was the number one defensive rating in the WNBA last year and the New York Liberty are a super team not a good team a super team I agree all right now I disagree on one thing which is the last part we said about what she’ll be long term because Sabrina nescu her first two years averaged four turnovers a game that’s not her style of play She’s Not turnover a machine but she has grown into now a star player Kelsey Plum she’s scored eight points a game her first year well guess what Kelsey Plum didn’t have that Sabrina and nescu had Talent around her so you look at kayn Clark she has one good player on her team the rest of the players are me terrible so how much do we look at a player like Kaitlin Clark and realize that she can’t do it by herself and are we judging her too harshly on the fact that she’s playing on a bad team I think that’s and here here’s another component too as far as like the boy side of it the men’s side of it college players only play one or two years in in the college and they move on to the NBA she had the benefit of full four four five years I mean right yeah so but it’s completely different game it is it’s different and and she’ll put on and remember she’s going from like the boys stop playing what was it the end April 6 if you made it to the championship game then their season doesn’t start until yeah right she went right to the NBA she went from weeks weeks away from playing to being on a team practic so is could it be catching up to her right now yeah absolutely all I just don’t think she’s going to be the star that everybody think she’s gonna be I think she will be but you Squan Barkley and they got Dallas gard and Jaylen Herz is the quarterback they got three fists at our offensive Lineback I’d have to go with the offense and I go with the defense because because first of all I I think that you are underestimating the impact fangio is going to have you had a completely dysfunctional complete mess what came to the coaching staff last year you have an adult on the defensive coaching staff now you have a man man who has been there and done this guy goes back to the usfl this okay right this guy this guy is is a throwback mentality coach but Josh how many times have you but Josh how many times have you told me oh this is the new NFL the new players and everything what if that doesn’t work but it has worked we’ve seen fangio make things work that’s number one number two they have actually addressed some of their needs this offseason I think that the additions of CJ Gunner Johnson and quinan Mitchell are going to be they’re going to pay huge dividends and I don’t think people are valuating enough them upgrading the linebacker position I think that you had such a poor showing by the defense last year from the coaching staff down to the players they had to overhaul it they had the clean house and I think it’s going to pay dividends all right Carlin I’m just skeptical for the same for simple reason they underperformed last year or maybe not maybe they but some of those guys aren’t here anymore Bill no I know but but they still have the nucleus in players right they didn’t have linebackers anyway last year now they have linebackers now they have linebackers that’s a billy linebacker for decade now but it’s still a question mark Josh well so is the offense no it isn’t I think yes it is is Cam Jurgens really gonna be as good at Center as we think he is who’s playing right guard for this team is saquan going to stay healthy who’s the slot receiver on this team is Kell Moore actually G to come in here and Elevate this team compared to last
