Contested each May, the PGA Championship is the second major championship in golf’s annual rotation, and perennially features the strongest field in the men’s game based on the Official World Golf Rankings. Known for dramatic finishes and notable champions, the Wanamaker Trophy—which has been awarded to the winner since 1916—is inscribed with names such as Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player.

The 2024 PGA Championship is set to take place between 13-19 May at Valhalla Golf Club. The reigning champion is Brooks Koepka.

from California Xander Shuley lot to love about oberg’s game Xander played brilliantly last week one two three major championships you’d look at ludig you look at a few others as well but as we’ve talked about before you have to do it you have to get it done and from Kentucky the 2017 and the 20122 aggressive line a spectacular shot from sh Xander cashes it in for birdie chle this hole is going to be be an action hole this week always is see if he can spin one back to the hole still moving got it and our co- leader up wonder if he was expecting even more run Xander schafle found the Fairway at [Music] 15 get up get up W okay shawley’s got a chance to get to three under join havin but it’s also a t- shot the most players us L that’s a must here at 16 po was playing long and will all week terrific shot for Xander shley so a couple of birdies from this group one from off the green and one from in tight what a start for shley now our leader yeah he look like he was trying to hit his big drawer in there and sort of came out of it a little bit but that’ll do you can make a for we’ll be F what a start brilliant opening nine for Xander shofer few yards closer for ke there’s Xander our leader on one t plenty of room out there to the right but not that much found the back bunker now back to the first Xander’s cards clean all birdies and pars and it’ll stay that way Zander to complete the up and down remaining 500 I mean two’s a hard hole but the way Xander schley’s playing and you’re hit the driver like that maybe a little different than some of the others who come through here rounde using three wood it’s a interesting hole so we saw Xander use the three-wood off the T and that leaves you a long second shot 246 yards green eight birdies in 14 Xander and that’s a good shot from 246 look at this just walk up and tap it in you know great line talk about the golf course PGA of America and they back things up looks tight out there but the Fairway is 32 yds wide very light and does it make any difference to that guy David I don’t think so oh carry over up over a slope downhill to the hole from right to left this looks pretty good not bad he’s doing everything right what a round he’s playing number four it’s a missed opportunity and now our first look at the par 38 sander [Music] shley feeling the adrenaline first real mistake he’s made he’s got a [Music] tracking beautiful so shle will head to the T at number nine this will be his last toll of the [Applause] day should be short of those three buckers 12 15 ft at worst just a firm uh pitching wedge for Xander hopefully it falls in if not he can walk up and tap it in I doubt he’ll be racing this by an aggressive [Applause] effort around Xander sh a bogy pre- round of 62 just the fourth in the history of major championship golf please welcome from California Xander [Applause] shafley that’ll test the left hand side of the Fairway on the team well you just kind of wonder which way it’s going to wiggle with all the mud yeah up the hill in the beginning then kind of flattens out from there again perfect speed like we saw all day yesterday he just watched two five irons look like that might get okay popular spot today just some 35 ft up the hill yeah up the hill up onto this shelf and you have the shoulder coming off that left bunker and the hill to the right they straighten out at the end Curtis how about that pretty good lie step cut a rough 225 to the hole looks like it may be a little short see Ni come out of mud on the bottom of it good call Billy you can see it kind of bumping [Applause] screen seems certain to Wi a major but it’s difficult to break through rolling it for the lead at eight just needed a little more muscle yeah may have been backed off by Thomas’s P top Tracer presented by Rolex and Xander smoked right there that was a golf ball you could do anything you wanted with see if it spins back come on back he’s rolled it beautifully all week and there’s another Xander softly back out in front been 15 birdies here well this is going to have to work hard to get some of the green it got s he’s okay so that’s a drop shot and his lead is back down to one over morawa 13 Xander on the T yeah it’s right down the center get anything off this short par for that you can put it in the Fairway green trying to get get it over that little Ridge fit it back there so leaderboard he’s plus one for his round today here’s our leader 199 seven iron good shot [Applause] absolutely miss that one on the low side as well but well that’s going to keep his streak intact he’s hit every Fairway on the back nine and that is right there with JT I mean that is large only 144 yards left but that’s a wedge you can see the flag he could see the Green choffle Oh hits the right lip and would not go down so that’s going to be a par at 17 for shafley farway and green on this back side and looks like you’re going to be able to put another one in that category should be a green light for a that from 226 that was a 500 and may have tried to get too much out of that David oh and he’s not in a good spot at all right on the Fring to be awesome great no did look got tell if that stop that’s one heck of a shot it did so we’ll have a birdie put yeah and the only thing missing on the resume is a major and that’s two or three times he’s done that on on this back nine but I think it was a high quality round Scott and David well one of the hardest things to do in golf is to follow up that incredibly low round with something under par something in the same vicinity 68 he’s turned this club into a weapon this season to deliver the club either eight iron that’s why he’s [Applause] leading just a driving machine as he was last week yeah played the little draw of one straight overall after that Xander for his first birdie since the 10th hole yesterday and the streak is over and he’s got the lead outright Again by this is an eight iron into the breeze five yards long yeah probably aular popular Club yes later up the hill with an eight eight iron 171 on the ground that plays more like 180 with a back [Applause] stop that’s got a little go to it that’s a beautiful t- shot trying to go down the left side get a little bounce couldn’t play it any better birie the previous par five the [Applause] seventh oh about time it’s a relief for him he’s only missed one green in regulation and he missed one Fair [Applause] weight looks so well on that Rhythm talk about that out of last month or so just dialed it back a touch so he’s burnt the hole a lot today here I believe setting up for the FED middle of the green is a really good shot here get the right length spec very nice special shot back to 14 and shley has seen the line oh yes the Gold Medal winner from Tokio zand shley Brooks one on the win on Sunday and that BL made Eagle two on this hole xanders told me he was going to hit that forward off this te and sure enough he delivered yeah we had in the wow you should you said two shots swing could be three we’ve got Collins putt coming up for the outright lead but at this moment there are four players tied couple extra regrips here yeah this is where the caddy comes in and says you know we need to be careful here we’re not in our we’re not in our Cadence everybody has a natural Rhythm quick players have to play quick for the flyer also clipped that tree it might work out that is outstanding eight iron yeah played that about a third of the time is what he did in the previous add 15 ft to that board it says [Music] 711 yeah you’re right this sense of pace from long range is excellent good bounce back really with what happened at the previous [Applause] Al Frank mentioned takes a little bit too much time at times lot of regripping and fidgeting it’s just not consistent sometimes headed a little more to the left may need to Big Boost oh he Carri wow that was a beautiful drive he has been driving the ball well and long that is a long from the double bogey at 15er it’s going to need to move a little left and it’s spectacular what a shot there for Xander a lot less time spent over the ball beautifully struck shot Elite from this distance top 10 on tour leave it alone mod right he’s right where Bryson [Applause] was he does very nice who’s it going to get to 15 under with birdies on the last two holes that’s a he bounces back Xander shares the lead at 15 under round of [Applause] 68 is following this pairing looking at a little concern up the right side 200 on the button to the hole oh he just barely cleared the top of that bunker he from 27 ft got the speed oh yeah found the cup 152 gets him to the front 170 to the hole roll around to the flat perfect three for three out of the GRE side bunkers this week that was Perfection how nice did it sound four extra cover on that side if you’re going to go straight at it like that like that I think all that’s done is slow down the game Frank sadly it so he’s going to push this right up toward end hit it hit it wi gosh that’s a terrible mistake gentle with it adds to spin he knows he’s got to get a ton of spin to stop it in time so you’re trying to land the club head so close to the ball and oh yes back ahead by two just right at the flag pretty good up sander now another one on the low side at the moment the lead is two but Shambo has an eagle attempt coming up best if you can get this up the left half for the right side but this is headed right bunker over there might be between them Sand Wedge plays Up N yard back sto in the side board he’s used it well if it does go anywhere it should go left agreed oh yes Xander shley four under through his first nine holes one ball One [Applause] Bun that was a very clean strike high in the air just settled down too there’s enough green to work [Applause] with try to go high [Applause] there’s that little fall off get in the ho came off the [Applause] toe that is shocking to get it all the way back in I think he’s going to have to turn it over a touch looks like a good line oh what a bounce back for [Music] shle smooth as silk that’s just a thing of beauty there the thing of beauty has been the way that he is bounced back or over the tree going at it oh I mean right at it how about these last two shots at 11 and 12 dead center he did exactly what he was [Applause] told what a shot absolutely perfect I guarantee that’s exactly where they were trying to hit it that b doesn’t clip anything miss the trees and that is [Applause] fine 193 is the total come on you just carry the front that’s a good shot got to go left oh lot of sand B very high a little to the right maybe the up slopey hung back on the right side come on now beautifully played under extreme pressure straight in the middle really really good up and down this is going to need to sit stay short of the [Music] bunker um wow winner CAU a lot of oh that’s a wonderful [Applause] shot the pretty good to win at all sander with victory at Valhalla ah [Applause]
