Scotty Sheffer is with us now we will jump right into questions starting right here with Kira Scotty with everything that’s happened to this week I’m sure it’s been a tumultuous time but can you just even try to put this week into words yeah I uh I’m not really quite sure you know I think hectic would probably be a good description um overall right now how I’m feeling I’m fairly fairly tired definitely a lot more tired than I have been finishing some tournaments um but you know I’m proud of today how we went out there and fought you know I got off to kind of a slow start and was able to kind of get some momentum and and post a good round and give myself some some good momentum you know yesterday obviously was was quite frustrating and a bit of a different day but um overall proud of how I fought this week um you know was fortunate to be out here competing doing what I love and um you know out on the golf course the the support this week that I got from from the fans was tremendous the support I got from the players and caddies and everybody inside the ropes was tremendous and so I’m very grateful to have the uh the community that we have out here on the road and um to have their support we go back to back right here Dan then Dylan how much of yesterday’s round do you ascribe to the circumstances or how much of it was just golf and a bad day I mean it’s it’s harder to it’s hard to tell you know I think I would attribute it mostly to a bad day you know um I think when you come out here to compete you know you’re out here competing you’re doing what you can throughout the course of the round to post a score and I wasn’t able to get that done yesterday yesterday did I feel like myself absolutely not was my warmup um the way it usually is and uh the distractions where they normally are absolutely not but I’m not going to sit here and say that’s why I went out and played a bad round of golf yesterday you know I I got arrested Friday morning and I showed up here and I played a good round of golf as well and so you know I’ve I’ve been good throughout my career or I say I say that you know I’ve gotten better throughout my career of leaving the off course distractions at home and kind of keeping a pretty quiet personal life and um you know this week obviously that was not the case and I’m not going to sit here and say that I played poorly yesterday because of what happened on Friday you know I just just had a bad day out on the course and um you know was proud of how I came out here and bounced back today Scotty was there a moment where um kind of the gravity of of what happened on Friday and and the strangeness of what happened on Friday finally started to sink in um yeah probably Saturday morning um I think it finally hit me what really happened you know Friday most of the day I didn’t even really eat I came up here and I had a couple bites of some eggs and a piece of bacon went out and played and we were sitting at home and I realized that I hadn’t even eaten dinner yet and it was almost 9:00 at night and I I wasn’t hungry and as somebody who’s a pretty big eater that’s that was a strange feeling um so obviously you know my body was a bit off you know with what had happened in the morning but you know like I said I I did my best to to leave that behind me and come out here and compete and do what I love and um the support I got from the fans was amazing you know I think uh they were cheering extra loud for me this week and I got a lot of support from from the players and caddies as well you know a lot of people showing their support a lot of players telling me how much they love me and and stuff like that and you know like I said I’m really grateful to have the uh the community that we have out here and the support of the the people inside the ropes for sure right here Mike six Scotty have the free Scotty chance gotten old yet after the last two days or I mean I think when you’re out there inside the ropes I don’t really hear too much of it it’s more uh you know it’s nice to kind of hear your name I heard a lot of Scotty chance you know I didn’t hear too many of the free Scotty chance but I definitely heard a lot of the Scotty chance and you know like I said it’s it’s great to have the support of the fans you know being able to play out here in front of them week in week out is is is one of the greatest joys of my life for sure and so being able to do that this week and and play another major championship um you know it was fun obviously the results weren’t what I was hoping for at the beginning of the week but overall you know I’m proud of how I fought this week over to mark on three Scotty as you walked off 18 and kind of signed your card and whatnot what is your can you describe how you’re feeling is there a sense of relief or is there a sense of what might have been had you know this week I know you took a long look at the scoreboard on and I mean at at the moment you know I put my head down on the scores table I think I about fall fell asleep so I’m kind of just wondering what time bedtime is you know I’m trying to figure out how quickly I can get home from here and um yeah that’s pretty much it I think I’m just fairly tired and um ready to get home just as a quick follow you’re on on the list to play next week do you know what your plan is and and do you have to come back for that Tuesday thing or is that something your lawyer can handle I think it’s all up in the air I’m not really sure what the next days have in store I think I’m able to to get home tonight but we’ll see see when I leave here I haven’t really had much chance to assess the The Situation off the course you know I came saw my car then came straight over here so we’ll see but hopefully we’ll be able to get home tonight got time for two more mark on 13 Bob on six Scotty having Ted back on the bag today how much did that help yeah I think having Teddy out is always helpful you know uh I I’ve talked a lot about how how great he is for me out there on the course and keep me in a good head space and obviously yesterday was a bit of a different day but you know it’s up to me to come out here and hit the shots and execute and yesterday I wasn’t able to do that and today I got off to the slow start but we did a good job of staying patient and um you know coming out and having a really really nice back nine to to have a decent finish to the week if I could just clarify are you unsure if you are required to be here Tuesday or is it a choice and also either way are you planning to play next week I mean as of now I’m planning to play next week as far as the off the course stuff goes I’m not really sure thanks for your time Scotty thanks y

He was set up. No doubt.
Who's this felon.
If what he did at the gates had been in Australia the cops would have told him to go to the back of the line and wait your turn. The amount of charges he's facing for a misunderstanding is overkill America at its' best.
Cops are always causing collateral damage. Egomaniacs
I would say winning the Masters was better than the PGA
He’s should recognize all the memes about him they were funny as hell.
I love this guy…..Scottie…one of the most mentally tough person ever
What a class act. Wishing him all the best.
THUG
All it took was a little white privilege
A First Class individual, after a terrible round Saturday, he finishes in top 10 in tournament, again. He's an amazing golfer, and it seems like a better person .
LIV IS HE ANSEREW BROTHER. pga player gets assested lol what a joke
He was also charged with 4 offences. Too much corruption in how police were probably influenced I letting him make a tee time. Now I hear the prosecution might drop the charges haha golf pretends it has honour at its core and integrity but I wonder who called the cops paid bail etc???
DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD! NO CALENDAR GRAND SLAM, THE GOLF GODS HAVE ENACTED RETRIBUTION. CONGRATS TO XANDER FOR BEATING THE BEST IN THE WORLD LIKE A REAL CLASS ACT!
Louisville making sure the PGA never comes back. What a garbage city
Look up the definition of "Grace" and you'll find a picture of Scottie!!
Setbacks are part of life. Overcomming them is in the strength of the mind. Winner will find a way to win no matter what.
Scottie is a winner.
This should be a lesson for anyone should they ever end up in this situation.
He handled it perfectly.
He didn’t cast blame just alluded to a big misunderstanding.
From the way he described it the officers couldn’t have been nicer to him at the jail.
Things in life happen it’s how you deal with it and react that demonstrates who You Really are!
Hell yeah Scottie
If they drop the charges, then policing in America is pretty wild.
The pga shouldn’t go back there.
What makes this case so sad is the way the police treated the best and nicest golfer in the world. Look at the police report and what was happening in espn video, we can see whether or not this golfer committed any of the 4 offenses.. Louisville police over reacted and should drop these charges for the integrity of this police department . Let show the world that Louisville police is fair to a good American citizen and the number one golfer. Thank you
Just another hitler-like masochistic policeman abusing us all who needs to be arrested, booked and jailed.
We love you Scottie great round today. You're always in our prayers.
Completely understandable that a situation like that could have a huge effect on him. He's probably never been close to having a run-in with the law, so what happened Friday was probably scary and rattling for him. Golf is hard enough with outside distractions. If your focus is somewhere else that's a formula for a bad round.
What a Class Act this guy is. Hope they drop the charges.
Wow,, not bad golfing still. Sounds like a for real deal
We Are With You Champ 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
LIV officials would have never allowed their best golfer to be treated like this. Just saying.
Again, unless he’s a total fraud (which seems unlikely) or just had a moment of madness (which can happen), this appears to be just a complete misunderstanding.
Lock him up trying to run over a cop because he got confused give us a break
Personally I find the Scheffler as great guy a victim narrative completely bizarre, although unsurprising given the financial interests.
The man clearly was reckless and assaulted a police officer. The two ESPN reporters that were there clearly articulated the facts. He drop up on the median to try and jump the line. When told by officers to stop he did not, even after being shouted down by officers. After an office managed to latch himself to the side of the vehicle, he again attempted to drive away dragging the officer 20 yards. He is incredibly lucky the officer didn’t slip under the vehicle leading to much worse than second degree assault charges.
Anyone who said this was no big deal and not blameworthy because he is a great guy is off their nut.
Clearly he compounded this by not taking accountability and claiming he followed all directions of the officers. He has made two claims, ridiculous as they are to attempt to deny culpability. That he didn’t know the individual he nearly killed was a police officer and he followed the directions of the police.
The fist claim that he didn’t know a uniformed office was police needs know further explanation as to its absurdity. Even if he was so cognitively impaired, recklessly dragging any individual in such a manner is blameworthy.
The second claim that he was just following directions of a police officer is equally absurd. The claim is extremely unlikely based on the fact that the audio captured on the scene provides evidence that the only thing he said to avoid arrest was the claim that he didn’t know he was a police officer. Obviously if it were true that a police officer told him to drive over the median, he would have led with that. But the bigger point is even if it were true, it wouldn’t excuse liability for anything that followed. Just because one officer gives you one direction, that doesn’t give you the right to ignore all subsequent officers and directions, leading to the dangerous assault on another police officer.
Legend
I think the loudest take here is the unseen that he didn’t say….he knows Satan meant it for bad but Jesus meant it for good….and in his world of Christian faith Yahweh wanted to teach him even more to have the right heart attitude and a grateful thankful attitude…he has that as we’ve seen but GOD wants more from him….end of the day he believes that everything has a reason and he’s already worked out that reason. Cmon…I mean its a Jesus miracle in itself the testimony of this champion golfer world no. 1….when do you see a golfer with a sixteen handicap swing rise to the very top of the game…The LORD works in mysterious ways.
If the black guy can’t hit a golf ball they shouldn’t be police officers. I lose respect for anyone who can’t hit a ball. I already have no respect for blacks
Straightforward, humble, he definitely is champion material. Wish him the best.
