it’s a shame um the the question is very simple James Jones it’s very very very simple with the t- Wolf season still be a success if they’re eliminated tonight now before you answer I gotta say unequivocally no no unequivocally if you win the first two games in they house yeah how in the world do you back door and lose four straight truth be told we’ve only seen it done twice in the history of the National Basketball Association where a team wins the first two games on a road and then loses the next four straight you got to go back to the 2017 Bulls and the 1969 Warriors we’ve only seen it done twice when you go into a nay house youth is wasted on the young and the tea wolves are wasting their youth because in this moment you had the Nuggets down 20 and now you going to blow the series potentially and what we are going to say to ourselves is simple well Anthony Edwards only 22 Ant-Man only 20 how about everybody else how about Conley he old how about go been in the league forever how about cat he old youth is wasted on the young and I do not want to see this youth wasted on the t- Wolves I’ll give you a very quick story James Jones and saw you big dog my sophomore year in college I started 26-2 in the mcaa we didn’t know how to lose 26 and two sophomore year we go to the national championship game 30 miles from here we play at the Rose Bowl we play in Alabama it’s a true story Shady we’re playing in Alabama our starting quarterback gets knocked out we got this freshman phom festar quarterback Joy Taylor Garrett Gilbert he takes over throws for 350 yards we lose he had four touchdowns we’re thinking to oursel Y we going to go back I went to the chip my sophomore year I only lost two games my first two years oh I’m going back my junior year I’m going back my senior year we going back whenever I want to go back next year we had the worst season in Texas football history Texas football went back to the playoffs for one of the four first four teams final four teams for the first time this year that was my sophomore year in college I’ve been out The League yeah for a while so what I’m saying is very simple just because you think it’s going to happen again there are no promises James Jones it would be an absolute failure if the t- wolves get eliminated tonight um no it’s not going to be a failure number one before the season started where did you have the T wolves going probably round one eliminated exactly right and you know what that’s fair because they ain’t been in the second round in 20 years it’s been 20 years since the Minnesota Tim rules have been in the second round so I understand you’re up 20 right you’re a little disappointed that you done lost three straight but to say it’s a disappointment as a season this team was in the mix for the number one seed to the very last basketball game of the basketball season they have the defending champs right now in a gamei situation and the game is at home if they are able to get eliminated tonight this is a success for the season you get experience for them players yes some is older yes some is younger but they have experience now so they are going to be better in the playoffs next year I am a True Believer of when you have a chance to win it or close somebody out you have to do it because you don’t know what the next season brings correct but to say a failure or not a success I would not say that because 20 years this organization hasn’t been to the second round a and cat got them there then you are 20 up on the defending champs who everybody had going back to the championship and you have them in a game six and you have the ability to take it to a game seven at home when or lose tonight I think this was a really good season for the Minnesota Timberwolves I think they have a lot to look forward to especially with they franchise in ant’s hands this goingon to be a really good basketball team for a long time Joy don’t you tell us all the time what we got to do with our information got to update it got to update it she say that’s what she say Shady got to update her information the t- Wolves gave us new information I have to update it I didn’t have the same information I have today that I had at the beginning of the season the information that I have now Joy Taylor is that the tea wolves are capable of beating Denver in Denver the are capable of doing it not once but twice the t-s are capable of beating Denver without defensive player of the year the t-s are capable of not stopping but slowing down yic the t-wolves are capable of stopping jabal Murray you tell me you get new information you got to update it I’ve updated my information so now I have to hold the t-wolves to a standard that they’ve showed me they’re capable of hitting that’s why I think it would be a failure Joy what do you think I I agree with you but we also we forgot some other information that that the nuggets are really like that and yic is really really really really really like that so the Nuggets were giving us bad information they didn’t play well in the first series against the Lakers even though they beat them in five it looked shaky the entire way and it it it looked shaky enough that I think it played a role in Darin ham getting fired because everyone in La convinced themselves that had they played a little bit better they would have beat the Nuggets we were some of us were up here talking about they were going to beat them early not just beat them but beat them before was tripping um he was tripping but I remember that when he had said that but the point is the Nuggets were giving us bad information as well so I do think that we have to consider the information that we had before the season that James brought up they were ranked 16th inba in the NBA and 10th amongst Western Conference teams in title odds before the season started they missed the playoffs ant’s first year they lost in the first round and six his second year lost in the first round in five to the Nuggets last year and they swept the suns in the first round this year right got that coach fired correct got it got another both these teams got coaches fired so I I I think game seven is a higher Mark right I would like to see them push this to a game seven I won’t say that this is a a failure of a season it would be disappointing based off the way that they started this series and particularly the way the game three went so I would say that it would be disappointed because you do feel like more than the Lakers you really felt like the Timberwolves had a chance a true chance not one that we imagined or if you hit this shot or if you know Anthony Davis has this many points forget all that they beat them in their house two games in a row to start the series that’s a real thing so it would be disappointing but I still think if they take it to a game seven and and I’m not trying to lower the bar here but this is the defending chance this is the Denver Nuggets and and I get it it’s the Nuggets but we we got to just put a little respect on their name particularly yic I know he just he he’s he’s he looks how he looks sometimes and we just don’t want to believe it but that man is the baddest man on the planet playing basketball right now he is he is legit he is for real he is a three time League MVP he’s the best player in the world and he’s got a really really good roster around him I’m not trying to lower the bar for the Timberwolves but to say that it’s a total fa failure I can’t get there I will be disappointed if they don’t push it to a game seven really quick uh before Shady goes if they do get to a game seven does one game change your mind like is it a success are you saying if they take the defending champs in the second round to a seven game it steals the failure it’s the Nuance James if you just tell me that shady they took him to seven I’d be like oh well great for them but what I believe that we are conveniently omitting and we cannot omit this because this is the operative statement here is they were up 20 two but don’t you think the nuggets are a better team yes don’t you think that’re at the top ends their best player is the best player on the planet a th% but what I also know is if you had a two if they spotted you two games and obviously the the the T took two games if they spotted you them two I need you to get it two five I need they spotted you two I just get two more just get two of the next five get two of the next five you took two out of two you can’t get two out of five that’s bad math to me so I just think that it will be disappointing right and I know we look at the timber wvs a certain way but they were fighting uh this whole season for the number one seed right it was it was nuggets it was them and it was uh yeah the thunder so they played well this year right we get to the Suns first series they sweep them yes sir sweep that did happen nobody here expected that right we people thought that maybe Kevin Durant and they probably loser so they won cool then you go to the nuggets and you go up 20 on the road right this is what they did they did that so they play phenomenal defense we keep talking about yic and he is a phenomenal player he’s the best on the plane like Joy said true but if I look at all the matchups this team fits yish to best you got two seven Footers border you got the deepest play of the year he’s not a point guard he’s not a shooting guard not those no flashy small forward he’s a center you play the same position that’s what you are the best defensive player in the whole world in the world right so when you look at the matchups you have everything you do to win first game you do it play great defense from top to bottom from the points to to the to the center okay then you you take the lead two oh on the road you come on and then you get smoked yeah okay that this happens all right cool next game you lose again so if you ask me how is it not disappointing how is it not just because the nuggets are the Nuggets no you had you had the whole recipe to win this and y’all were doing that and I will say this though if the serious went differently like okay um we steal the first game and then they win then we go back to Minnesota maybe they get one right and it’s a challenge that’s a successful um season but the way that they kind of created this thing had everybody believe in a certain way and then the thing is they actually there and did it y you know it wasn’t a fluke well no they did that but that’s the thing too though like does it does it matter how you get to a game seven yeah M it does that matter man I don’t think I don’t think it matters how you get to a game seven especially against the defending champs with the best player on the planet I but I will I am with them though that like it will feel disappointing especially if you to lose the series difference to me from a game six to a game seven is a lot like if they lose tonight it’s going to feel super super disappoint if you can get it to a game yeah if you can get it to a game seven that’s a different conversation to me I I it’s a different conversation I would end that conversation in the same way but James put it in football terms big dog if you up 21 skunk and a team comes back and pushes it into overtime and you loseing overtime that’s different than if it’s a battle the whole game if you was up 21 skunk you should put I miss field goal you got to put them you got to put them away you got to put them away ex we’ve all had leads in games and we’ blown them we blown and it’s all been disappointing and the other the game but not necessarily the season look look at them Falcons against the the Patriots yeah bro what what is that that’s the biggest game in the world what is that that’s a little different what is that yeah that ain’t no more chance say a kind of I mean not it’s not the parall I’m just saying like a big game big moment right in one team that was was wasn’t favored y doing this to them talk second it’s of course going to be disappointing it’s going to be disappointing even if they do lose in a game seven I think it’s it’s a more respectable disappointment if they lose in a game seven than if they lose for sure but as far as it being a success or failure they’re building they’re they’re getting better like but here’s my heartbreak Joy my heartbreak is this the Sacramento Kings last year we all would have said and rightfully so they’re building they’re getting better I believe the Kings wor a three seed last year somebody in my ear correct me if I’m wrong I’m doing this off the top of my head the kings were young dear and fox they’re building he’s a young stud surely the Kings will be back y’all did the kings make the playoffs this year they didn’t like what do we say for so long let’s Transition Sports cuz we’re we’re ambidextrous uh with our words in that manner the Buffalo Bills they’re building they’re getting better surely after Josh Allen took Patrick Mahomes and the AFC Championship game I believe it was down to the wire you lose but 13 seconds surely Josh will be back surely family he’s gone in the wrong direction since he’s building he’s getting better so the reason Joe burrow but at a minimum at least Joe burrow went back to the AFC Championship game but even shaded to that point after the Super Bowl you lose the AFC Championship game then you get hurt they’re building I just can’t I understand I understand that that you know we like to imagine that everyone is just going to get better every single year we know that trees don’t grow to the sky but the reason I would keep the sports separate in a lot of ways is because how you pay people how you can acquire a star here and there or a a rotational piece that can be all the difference when you’re talking about building a roster is very different in the NBA and the NFL I don’t think that the Timberwolves are in a position where they’re not going to be able to compete next year if they don’t win this year it will be disappointing but I have a hard time especially with an ascending Superstar which I would say is the difference between the Sacramento Kings and the Timberwolves as you have an ascending superstar in Anthony Edwards we are not talking about him being the face of the league for no reason right right so he to me he is an outlier situation CU he is only going to continue to get better he is 22 years old yeah but it’s it’s still a team thing cuz like he’s he’s phenomenal right he’s hell of a player but I look at all the other role players that that’s with him it may not get no better you might not get another defense player of the year type of player you might not get another seven-footer that can that can score supposedly can score at will like cat right like how much better they going to get and then another thing is the scenarios you might have never get a chance to have the defending champs down 02 at home that’s where I’m at that’s like you can’t you can’t even like simulate that in video game you know what I mean blood Al be in real life so all I’m saying like I do think they’re going to get better right now we all think that and is going to even more phenomenal later down the line but the team aspect of it now you got get another superstar that ain’t this easy because everybody wants Superstars now and the last thing is will we ever have a chance to have the defending champs down 02 yeah probably not cuz guess what another thing is this though if they do this again next year the Nuggets going to be BR we are not going to do that that up that hill again no question I’m not saying it’s going to be easy but there’s a bunch of stories about teams building too and getting better the next year and going to win championships there’s a lot of stories with that too so with ant being so young and me watching ant and other superstars having the ability to watch Ant I would love to play with ant it’s a lot that goes personaliz be back James Jones how old were you when you went to the Super Bowl I don’t want to talk how old were you big dog I can Google I was young I was young uh my fourth year well he’s 40 now he was 4 and you ain’t been back no he’s 40 now today you really talking real loud I say that to say it’s like James the next year 15 and one 15 yall should have gone again the finals or even the Western Conference Finals like you don’t think the Timberwolves are going to have another opportunity to get to a Western Conference Finals I mean they haven’t been for 20 some years I don’t we don’t know right but they’re they’re different now but the sh here’s where I’m at with Shady if Joy I wouldn’t care as much truth be told this might sound counterintuitive I wouldn’t be as mad mad if they did this to the Thunder or if you did it to the Mavs but because you have the Champs like shady said you have the Champs down to that’s to me it’s like you just don’t know if you gonna have the Champs again again necessarily beat but I’m just saying James we literally saw it last year with them Kings and the Kings won 48 last year I don’t think the Kings and the and the Timberwolves are both I hear you but just don’t I don’t think that it it doesn’t always break this way their their path to the Western Conference Finals or to the fin next year in the Timberwolves could be completely different than if they get there if they get to the playoffs they get I think yes of course I just I’m not willing to say that this is Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves last opportunity to get to the Western Conference Finals because again we have a whole another round before we start even talking about the finals they they they’re in the second round like if they beat the Nuggets they still have to get past the Western Conference Finals to get to the finals but that’s that’s a lot of just going to the Western Conference Finals that’s that’s it is but that’s what I’m saying like we’re we’re skipping an entire round here like they they’ve gotten better every single year if the nuggets are not good or I’m sorry if the Timber’s not good next year would you be surprised I would yes I would be very surprised I would be very suris the only reason I wouldn’t is we see it so often who are they losing we see to me it’s not even necessarily about that Joy it’s about think about just how things change whether it was the Memphis Grizzlies when I think they were the two seed and then they fell off I thought they were the next team to go for several reasons obviously now you could say well ant isn’t job or an I get all that but you just don’t know again we don’t they’re not the same team constructionwise but uh dear Fox averaged 26 points a game de fox is like that like dear Fox’s Antman but you guys are talking like we’ve never seen organizations do this like we’ve never seen organizations lose get better and come back and win championships or get to the Western Conference Finals like we’ve seen that just as much as we’ve seen teams lose and then fall off and not make the playoffs so that’s all I’m saying I just I just never I’ve never I’ve never seen maybe youall I’ve never seen a a team right that’s young and really good and we think they’re going to be better in the future have a defending chance no matter who they might be on the ropes like that right and then just let it go think the next year going just be opportunity but like it’s a little more than that though little it is a it’s a opportunity but we are we are also assuming that the nuggets are just going to be healthy every single year that there’s never going to be anything that changes with their roster and they are the current Champions right I for I the reason the other reason I have a hard time with this conversation is I just have a lot of respect for the Nuggets like I think the nuggets are in a whole different category than everybody else in the league so to even have them in that position in the first place was remarkable but to to take them to a game seven like we wrote the Nuggets off I’m I’m not even worried about game seven if you would have told me before the year and updated information or not that listen we going to the play second round first time in 20 years we gonna be fighting for the number one seed the very last basketball game of the season and we’re going to take the defending champs to six I’d have took that as a timberwolf fan 100% so as a season that’s a successful season they they they were a third seed though they I know but nobody expected that I don’t whatever that is whatever that matters right because we’ve all played the game right so that’s why you have the seatings and for a while the Timberwolves hat it or not they were up there for the number one season all right so my thing is like so they they were really good they are so but how is that a failure as a season though what they accomplish you can’t be up there up up and down from the number one seat back and forth with the nuggets and OKC right and then we get into the seating you sweep right they get sweat boom and then this next series I thought be a good game a good series I thought the Nuggets would win but I thought it be good you up two I know I know we got to leave and we got to go to commerci teams team would team would die and pay extra money to be in that situation after theget Thunder lose to the Dallas Mavericks in six that’s a failure of a season for the th we not why not because to me it’s about if you go up two against the Champs it’s the two thing you in the same game though in the second round they not the same they not the same team though bro you you going the number one seed I I hear that and they’re not the favorite right they’re number they’re not the favorite though right you going against the favorite the timber wolves no but he said the Nuggets were the Nuggets were you had the favorite you had the favorite D follow me you talking number one seed and the number three seed they’re in the same game right now in game six of the second round one is a success and he was down 02 yo if you look at the if you look at the numbers successful teams that have a team down 02 and they don’t win is super small for a reason basketball playing basketball for years right for years playoff start championships and you see a team up 20 on the road and they go home it’s only happened twice they nor same game though bro they normally win it’s not the same game it’s not the same situation it ain’t because the number one seat is playing what the five seed you know what it is a different situation I understand he’s he’s back at it back seed and you say success Timberwolves will never get an opportunity to go to a Western Conference Finals again no I wouldn’t I wouldn’t say that say never 100% never mean we not going act like this the the freaking the the the the percentage is so high that they just go and go cuz they nuggets ain’t they ain’t slowing down no time soon and they ain’t been in 20 years the biggest dominant team in the last two three years has been the nuggets and we had them 02 on the road that don’t matter to y’all it does it would have been very it’s going to be very disappointing I if it’s nothing I just don’t think it’s the end of Aunt’s career it’s not but right now if it’s that if it’s nothing to how come all these years of basketball when that happens majority of the time they usually win it all so I’m not saying all I’m saying is we can’t say the t-wolf season is not a success that’s what I’m saying all right well look man you like losing and then you go to turn around and say the Thunder is a
