I saw the news I really thought I was in like a simulation I thought I was getting punked I thought like I truly for a second I had to like catch myself pinch myself make sure I wasn’t dreaming your reaction to the Scotty sheffler news this morning uh yeah it’s pretty uh pretty crazy first of all very sad circumstances overall that that kind of led to the uh the confusion there um yeah truly didn’t think it was real when I opened uh Twitter this morning I slept in too this morning so I was one of those things where I was like literally in in bed grab the phone see this I’m like what like what are we what what’s going on here is Scotty okay what happened um just a crazy crazy circumstance that it happened to be the number one player in the world be the player that got stopped um yeah absolutely crazy absolutely crazy uh buckets do you know who Scotty sheffler is see I gotta say sometimes it is so nice being buckets and just living in my own little bubble because I have no idea what’s going on you mentioned Valhalla I’ve been watching Vikings on Netflix so I assume I’m way off here but it’s just it’s fun being me sometimes man no idea what’s going on all right fair enough well I’ll tell you what let’s get started with some official picks and buckets let me just kick it right back to you you got two plays on the pitch what are they we are going to start in the Portuguese premiera league and as we wind down to these last couple weeks of European competitions it’s important to remember that some teams I know we don’t like saying this but some teams genuinely don’t care right now right you’ve got your arsenals and your man cities fighting to win the leagues you’ve got your teams like FC mines fighting to stay in their league and not get relegated but some teams the middle of the pack teams really don’t need to win they don’t need to lose they’re kind of just hanging out for the most part and in Portugal we got a match up with famila and casapia who are doing just that it is two clubs that don’t need to win they’re going to rotate their squad a win doesn’t move them from ninth to 12th Place it’s all just kind of kaput I think is the word but because of that what we usually see in matches like this is high-scoring games because teams rotate their scad squads teams play for fun and teams play open and stressfree and usually that leads to both teams to score and at minus 125 for two teams that have good backups and that are known for their weak defenses across Portugal I absolutely love that line even though there’s not a whole lot to play for for either side then we go to a matchup that has everything to play for the second leg of the championship semi-final promotion playoff between Southampton and West Brom and when we saw this kind of scenario with Leeds Norwich yesterday I think we’re going to get something very similar Southampton on the road in the first leg played very defensive they parked the bus and they locked it down for a nil nil knowing that when they came back home for the second leg Southampton can absolutely run over this West Brom side I’m taking Southampton over one and a half team total at minus 125 and I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw a similar situation to leads yesterday where Southampton win this game and end up scoring three or four goals here seea wow okay Southampton team total over one and a half that second play uh we’re not trying to Lad that buckets we’re not trying to get cute with an alternative goal scoring situation I’m not telling you to do that but I am saying if you want to sprinkle three or more goals for Southampton I don’t hate that at all and one extra little bonus play just for the chat because I forgot that my boy chip is here and I know that he is a big Fiorentina fan they’re playing Napoli today Napoli just announced this morning that Victor Osan will not even be on the bench he will not be available and they also announced that kicha could I can’t say his rebounds and assists this is up on Sports Line it’s minus 128 again Josh Hart under 17 and a half rebounds and assists in that Pacers ni game and then we’re going to Major League Baseball Frankie Montas under four and a half k at minus 156 a lot of juice here a lot of confidence as well Frankie Montas under four and a half KS that game is at 1010 Eastern Standard Time again that’s the going back up against the Dodgers who have been sleepwalking a bit over the last two games kind of makes you feel like it’s 162 Game season with some games not mattering to an elite team like the Dodgers Michigan the Trojans and the Wolverines have only played 10 times ever iconic football programs eight of those times have been in Rose bows they haven’t played a regular season game since 1958 and we’re gonna have it on CBS in week four I’m fired up for the Big 10 on CBS all right well let’s get fired up for the PGA Championship let’s push the Scotty news aside for a second you’ve got a three ball this afternoon I sure do uh we’re going to be going with Kurt kyama over Peter malady and Victor Perez and I feel like I’m doing a little bit of bullying because this is a two ball proposition with a three ball price that is because Peter malady was an absolute no excuse not Peter malady Victor Perez was an absolute disaster yesterday he ranks dead last that is right 156 out of 156 in his approach game he did not have a single birdie out there he is going to be thinking about what he’s doing on Saturday and Sunday so we throw Victor Perez to the side we’ve got KK kyama going up against Peter malady now Kirt kyama is somebody who you might have been looking at going into this PGA Championship because of his driving distance you know not great when it comes to the putter a little bit subpar when it comes to the putter but you know great driving distance really good on approach play all of that showed up top 25 in the field yesterday and strokes gained off the te Strokes gained approach and of course Strokes gained te to Green I just think that when you look at what was a very solid round from kyama you followed that up with Victor Perez who you know had some highs and lows a little bit more inconsistent this is a great opportunity for us to uh to jump on kyama right here yeah I think this is a really good play especially since kyama is such a good course fit and then of course Victor Perez like I feel like he’s probably going to mail it in uh in the second round because he was really bad and frankley hasn’t been been good for a couple weeks uh did you notice a difference in in the Decor on the show uh I don’t know uh maybe I think Mike put his book down all right let’s go to my three ball here I’ve got another one I like you can get this at plus 110 pretty much everywhere uh plus 105 in some places too sep sta over Nick Taylor and uh takumi Kaya so this is one where sep straa if you’ve been following our show and if you’ve been following golf in any appreciable way you know that sep strock has been pretty much on fire now while I don’t think he’s necessarily the best course fit here he’s so much better especially from a recent form standpoint than Nick Taylor and Kaya Kaya’s just been sort of off the radar I’m kind of taking him out of the equation Nick Taylor can Flash here and there but he’s been bad on approach he’s been bad with the putter pretty much almost all of 2024 but certainly the last couple of months add to the fact that he lost over two strokes on approach in round one and by the way canaya lost even more than that in round one he lost like 2.7 Strokes on approach sep straka was pretty good yesterday he lost a little off the te but it was all on one he literally had one hole where he lost two strokes off the te which is unbelievable otherwise he was super smooth he’s been very good the recent form is good I think this is really a sep straka versus Nick Taylor matchup and I like sep straka a lot in that situation so give me sep straka plus money over these two gentlemen that is two PGA Championship picks and now Mike McClure you know we didn’t have the best baseball day yesterday a lot of our cash was sort of tied up in the Los Angeles Dodgers you’re tying your money up in another team that been successful not necessarily this year but historically over the last three years who do you have in Major League Baseball today it will be the Houston Astros here today see I played them last night plus 102 I would still play it right at the current market price at minus 110 I have them 54% winners which implies it should be minus 118 uh and you mentioned when talking about the Dodgers with the recap not every game potentially mattering every game matters for quite a while now for the Houston Astros after the incredibly slow start to the season but one area that they have not had a slow start in has been right-handed pitching believe it or not they are still seventh in team weighted on base average against righties with the lowest strikeout rate in major league baseball this is interesting against Fredy Peralta I think a lot of people would consider Peralta a top tier pitcher I certainly don’t think he’s an ace some might uh but I’ve got some concerns number one anybody who’s throwing a fast ball more than 50% of the time I’m going to have concerns with that if it’s not absolutely Elite the expected weighted on base average on this fastball this year is 361 significantly below major league baseball average it’s been those secondary pitches that have been carrying him uh but the barrel rate this year the highest of his career double digits when I look at peralto though he’s got some interesting home and road splits he has definitely been worse on the road and the reason for it is the walk rate and you look it’s not just this season it’s his entire career averaging over four walks per nine in Innings when starting away from home that is significant here I think the Astros on this little four game win streak where they’ve scored 22 runs have finally started to wake up a little bit at the plate it’s a long extended home stand here so give me the Astros again I made them 54% winners should be minus 118 I think it’s an awesome by low spot on the Astros and Hunter Brown individually all right uh absolutely love that chip we have a question about uh Kurt kidam I don’t know if you saw it in the chat from Kylie Reynolds he says chip my site has kittama versus Taylor Moore minus 125 do you like that let’s see what we O Let’s see so Taylor Moore I I I I don’t love that I I liked yeah Taylor Moore was was all right yesterday and I think that the thing that I liked about uh the play against malady and Perez is that you throw Perez to the side malady is so inconsistent and I thought that Taylor Moore I didn’t get my eyes on a lot of Taylor Moors round but statistically the profile looks pretty good I would maybe hold off on that my I am still bullish for kyama in general but I think that that play as my best bet for round two has as much to do with the other ones involved that I could knock them out yeah exactly I think one thing when it comes to golf betting one thing I like to zero in on I want to find people that I’ve sort of supported whether it’s in in DFS or in my outright card or top 20 things like that I want to find them in matchups but I also want to find those that I know I’m fading too so uh it kind of works both ways you know looking for the fade is just as profitable as looking for the guy that you’re supporting uh bucket and by the way Mike I have a just sort of theoretical question for you with respect to this PGA Championship I want to get to that in a second though buckets I have to ask you because you weren’t on the show yesterday did you do your pear jam homework as Ali lanzac instructed oh I did and they’re terrible man I know that I know that it’s a generational thing for sure and I get that and if you listen to the kind of music I listen to you’d understand that Pearl Jam is just it’s way too slow it doesn’t get my it doesn’t make me feel like I’m having a heart attack listen to it which is what I look for ship before you respond ship before you respond I also think Pearl Jam is is highly overrated I I I just like their music it just doesn’t do really anything for me so I I hate to do it but I I agree with buckets your response you hate me the chat hates me I get it oh no no no I just think that the entire um discography offers a little bit of everything if you want it to be a little bit slower and sleepier like the OG Seattle sound that’s there but especially when you get into um you know some of the albums that they got into the late 90s and early 2000s there there’s a lot more of strin from it to the point where I would say that I I like older Pearl Jam more than later era Pearl Jam but I understand that it’s you know different flavors so if if you’re just going back and you’re listening to 10 and you’re listening to yield and you’re just listening to whatever was on the radio then yeah yeah like that not might not be your flavor but I would encourage you to at least dabble with some later era Pearl Jam where you know they do a little bit of their own experimentation they do get a little bit faster they do get a little bit heavy you know they’ve got they they’ve got some tracks out there that I think might be able to to scratch your itch uh Jeff Stenberg says Red Hot Chili Peppers always better than Pearl Jam I said when I said I totally agree with Jeff Sternberg um Pearl Jam overrated says Chris Kish oh man uh go ahead Buck see I will say that when I did the homework I did the same way I did my homework in college which is through that like osmosis way of absorbing information so I just turned on a 10hour Pearl Jam YouTube compilation when I went to bed I just had that playing lightly in the background so I didn’t actually listen to like most of it but it was definitely on in the background okay uh well thank you for doing your homework I’m actually kind of impressed by that Mike let me ask you a golf question because I think and this is kind of an unfair question it might not have a response you know I’m looking at the live odds for the PGA Championship uh currently Xander shoplet plus 240 that makes sense Scotty Sheffer plus 450 which is about where he was uh pre-tournament but forgetting about like because I know some of the they’re just stepping onto the course right now when you heard that Scotty sheffler news this morning I I know a lot of people like on Twitter for example they they were rushing to either support Scotty Sheffer in terms of a bet or fade him because he’s showing up late and like I know you’re more of a model than a numbers guy does any of that ever percolate in with you when there’s something like kind of crazy like or a life event you know we know he’s a new father like all of these types of things a divorce for royan maroy do you ever let that percolate in or because it’s not quantifiable you completely ignore it oh no it definitely gets accounted for uh but again it’s it’s a very manual ual process as you would imagine uh so you have to make assumptions right and we do that in a lot of sports but uh when it comes to this particular case with Scotty I think the difficult thing is he’s already overvalued in the market um by most standards so I I think that you mostly looking to fade at that point um but having said that Scotty is by far the most calm collected uh individual I think on the PGA tour right now so I don’t know that it has a massive impact here um he does obviously have a lot going on but if anything it might just be that additional motivation that he needs to stay locked in and stay focused um because he’s again a lot of distractions from just the distractions that come along with winning a major championship and just winning golf tournaments in general to the family life at home to all this like if there’s anyone that can handle it it’s certainly Scotty shuffler yeah chip your reaction to that because I I think I think Mike’s so like right on that I think if it was like John Rah or Terell Hatton we’d have maybe a slightly different analysis in terms of how they might compartmentalize or or not compartmentalize a situation like that any reaction to to what Mike just said about Scotty shuffle oh no uh we don’t offer play byplay because we don’t want to violate rules but my fist pump would be hypothetically if Scotty just stuffed his approach and now has a birdie look from about two feet on his very first hole so yeah you know whatever distractions dism actions I mean this this dude is unfappable so I’m we were showing the odds from B MGM 450 was where he started 450 is where he’s sitting after an orange jumpsuit you know I mean it’s just yeah it’s kind of it’s kind of where we’re at right now and and just speaking of how how fast the odds can shift it was literally just plus 450 you report that he stuffs his approach it’s plus 360 now like this is just the Scotty experience we’ve cut it down by 25% it’s really uh truly remarkable all right
