Contested each May, the PGA Championship is the second major championship in golf’s annual rotation, and perennially features the strongest field in the men’s game based on the Official World Golf Rankings. Known for dramatic finishes and notable champions, the Wanamaker Trophy—which has been awarded to the winner since 1916—is inscribed with names such as Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player.

The 2024 PGA Championship is set to take place between 13-19 May at Valhalla Golf Club. The reigning champion is Brooks Koepka.

from California Xander Shuley lot to love about oberg’s game Xander played brilliantly last week one two three major championships You’ look at ludvig you look at a few others as well but as we’ve talked about before you have to do it you have to get it done and from Kentucky the 2017 and the 20122 aggressive line it’s a spectacular shot from shley Xander cashes it in for birdie chople this hole is going to be an action hole this week always is see if he can spin one back to the hole still moving got it and our co- leader second one he was expecting even more run Xander schle found the Fairway at [Music] 15 get get up get up wow okay schley’s got a chance to get to three under join havin but it’s also a t-shot that most players but L that’s a must here at 16 po was playing long and will all week terrific shot for Xander shley so a couple of birdies from this group one from off the green and one from M tight what a start for shopy now our leader yeah he look like he was trying to hit his big drawer in there and sort of came out of it a little bit but got to do you can make the fourwh be F what a start brilliant opening nine for Xander Sofer few yards closer for ke there’s Xander our leader on one te plenty of room out there to the right but not that much found the back bunker now back to the first xanders cards clean all birdies and pars and’ll stay that way Zander to complete the up and down remaining 500 I mean two’s a hard hole but the way Xander shley is playing and you’re hitting the dve like that maybe a little different than some of the others who’ come through here that’s a really good drive shley the Leader by one after a great [Music] Drive what’s going on with Justin Thomas you think he’s happy with his putting wow what a birdie might be more the layup Target line the driver Target line I think it’s right where Xander just hit it that is terrific nearly 800 the formality to get to minus seven our leader Xander shopy just having an amazing opening round using three wood it’s a interesting hole so we saw Xander use the three-wood off the T and that leaves you a long second shot 246 yards green eight birdies in 14 Xander and that’s a good shot from 246 look at this just walk up and tap it in you know great line talk about the golf course PGA of America and they back things up looks tight out there but the Fairway is 32 yds wide very light and does it make any difference to that guy David I don’t think so all carry over up over a slope downhill to the hole from right to left this looks pretty good not bad he’s doing everything right what a round he’s playing number four it’s a missed opportunity and now our first look at the par 38 Sanders [Music] shley feeling the adrenaline first real mistake he’s made he’s got it [Music] tracking beautiful so shle will head to the at number nine this will be his last toll of the day should be short of those three buckers stra 12 15 ft at worst prob just a firm uh pitching wedge for Xander hopefully it falls in if not he can walk up and tap it in I doubt he’ll be racing this by an aggressive [Applause] effort around Xander sh a bogey pre-round of 62 just the fourth in the history of major championship golf
