Contested each May, the PGA Championship is the second major championship in golf’s annual rotation, and perennially features the strongest field in the men’s game based on the Official World Golf Rankings. Known for dramatic finishes and notable champions, the Wanamaker Trophy—which has been awarded to the winner since 1916—is inscribed with names such as Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player.

The 2024 PGA Championship is set to take place between 13-19 May at Valhalla Golf Club. The reigning champion is Brooks Koepka.

how do you feel about your first round it’s good um a lot of those scores obviously you know I was watching coverage this morning and um you want to get off to a good start especially how everyone’s playing and I was two over through five I believe um and just knew that you know everything has felt good leading up just kind of continue to give yourself chances was able to hit a few close make some putts and just kind of use that throughout the rest of the day perfect thanks Colin I’ll I’ll lead no one else wants to ask question really uh when you look at the scorecard it looks like something flips between five and six but is that the kind of thing that happened uh no I mean I you know that was the swing on six was probably the best swing all day I did exactly what I wanted I was a little bit aggressive even though you know me and JJ were talking about aiming a little bit more right it just felt like a perfect number and um sometimes you need those shots to kind of work out and just you know flip a switch didn’t flip the switch exactly like I still didn’t hit as great of iron shots coming in as I wanted but um I was able to take advantage when I did and the putter felt great and uh when the putter feels good you know if you just give yourself chances from 20 feet you know hopefully a you drop when you watch coverage in the morning of an afternoon round uh what can you learn uh I mean you can just see you know kind of how receptive things are um you know you like to for me I like to play things out in my head of you okay this might be better do this do that but um golfers like you know coming out on a Thursday or you know on a Thursday afternoon you just adapt you know you don’t know what the wind’s going to be I mean a lot of the t- shots today I hit a hit a bunch of three Woods that I I really didn’t hit through the practice rounds um just because you know tournament time tournament speed T’s might be up five six yards changes a lot of things so uh it’s it’s nice to watch in the morning and just kind of get a feel for how things are going and obviously knowing that you know you needed to post something low if you’re going to you know stay stay on Pace I remember you keeping very secretive about the swing thought you had at Augusta is that the swing thought you were currently kind of still working with no no different different swing thought um yeah uh you never made clear what you were working with at Augusta on a swing thought yeah no no I I did not make that clear I probably won’t okay that’s interesting uh that’s fine um all right well I I appreciate you hanging around and chatting with me okay so following up on that so seven under in 13 Halles he kind of the feeling that that’s your game here this week that could be your game here this week yeah um it’s nice to roll off some birdies out here you know obviously other guys are making a lot of birdies but knowing that you’re able to just kind of get on a roll and um I haven’t had those little stretches of like birdie birdie birdie in a long time um so just to see that you know it’s kind of it’s great for for my mental side heading into the rest of the week just you know knowing that I can piece together a nice little bunch of golf and um Frank teally it could have been better and just hit a bad Iron shot or wed shot on 15 but um yeah you know I think just get some good rest get some good food tidy things up tomorrow morning and uh go out and see what see what plays and the last thing when you go on the first day and you see you have somebody like shander shooting 9 on in the morning is that another pressure is that something that no it’s not a lot of pressure but it’s it’s knowing that you know you want to get off to a good start and uh the way I started was not how I wanted um especially you know if the lead were two under yeah you know being two over through four five kind of inch your way back but knowing that a lot of guys are making birdies it’s okay you know there’s a lot of Birdie opportunities but this course is still on the long side for me so I still have to hit some good shots and quality shots and thankfully we’re were able to do that okay perfect thank you thanks for your time thank you
