good afternoon ladies and gentlemen we’re very pleased to welcome Rory mroy to the 106 PJ Championship I believe you all saw the statement yesterday from Mor’s Communications team specifically that he will not be making any additional comments on his private life so thank you all for respecting his wishes Rory you win on Sunday at qua Hollow and of course you won the last major championship played right here at Valla 10 years ago how you feeling coming in this week yeah um you know I feel good obviously had a great day on Sunday with um you know at a golf course that uh I’ve grown to love over the years and had a lot of success at coming to a venue where um I’ve had some success at before as well obviously get to go back to Quail Hollow every year don’t really get to come back here too much you know I this is the first time today I was on the golf course since 10 years ago um so it was good to ref familiarize myself with the place uh Golf Course is a little different than it was years ago a little longer um you know a couple of little minor changes but for the most part pretty much the same uh that I can remember from 10 years ago so um but yeah look game feels good coming off the back of uh two wins you know a fun one in New Orleans with Shen uh and then a really good performance last week so you just trying to just trying to keep the momentum going that’s great thanks Rory all right ladies and gentlemen we have about 10 minutes to navigate here we’ll open it up for questions starting with Marty on 16 Rory good afternoon uh how long has it been since you had this level of confidence in your game and what other than the the victories what in the technical part of it is giving you that confidence yes so I would say um I think I was asked this question last last week um I went I went on a run last summer sort of from it was actually after this tournament I felt like my game wasn’t in really good shape after Oak Hill um sort of needed to to reset work on a few things but then I came back out I played Memorial Canada US Open Travelers Scottish open open playoffs you know that that stretch of golf um I think I had like 10 top 10 in a row had got the win in Scotland uh so my game felt pretty you know it it doesn’t seem like that long ago that my game has felt this good um but I would say from a technical standpoint um you know some of the shots that I hit last week some of the three4 shots some of the wedge shots some of the iron shots combined with you know how good how good I feel with the driver at the minute um you know when I can see those three quarter shots and and those wedge shots going and starting on the right line um you know that that obviously gives me a lot of confidence Taylor on 15 we’ve talked through the years about how you’ve tried to go back to a mentality of just show up somewhere play a practice round and then go out there and play free when you come back here do you think of the mentality that you had when you won here 10 years ago and do you try to use that again sometimes I struggle to remember what I do y or what I did yesterday so I I don’t I I think if I look that far back I mean it’s hard to it’s hard to rekindle those feelings and those memories you know I I can vaguely remember you know coming coming here off the back of winning the open and and the old WGC at akan but um you know I think it’s all about confidence and momentum and and I have I have a lot of confidence and and and quite a bit of momentum coming into this week so as I said at the start it’s just about trying to keep keep that going um but as you said like trying to play with freedom I think this is a golf course that allows you to play with freedom because it’s a it’s a big Golf Course the corridors are wide not too dis similar to last week at Quail Hollow so you can open your shoulders up a little bit off the tea and then uh you know try to take your chances from there oh and on five R can I ask you about Jimmy’s board resignation what you thought about that and what the implications might be in in your mind uh yeah I um honestly I think it’s a huge loss for the PGA Tour if if they’re trying to get this deal done with a piff and trying to unify the game um you know Jimmy was basically the the relationship ship that the sort of conduit between the pjer and and piff and uh you know it’s been really unfortunate that he hasn’t been involved for the last few months and I think part of the reason that everything is stalling at the minute is because of that so um it is it’s it’s really really disappointing and um you know I think the tour is in a worse place because of it so we’ll see we’ll see where it goes from here and we’ll see what happens but um you know I would say my my confidence level on something getting done before last week was you know as low as it had been and then you know with this news of Jimmy um resigning and and knowing the relationship he has with the other side and how much warmth there is from the other side um it’s it’s concerning Kira on Nate so Shane Lowry mentioned that you told him the what you had off the tea the driver at Zurich was the best you’d ever driven the ball you’ve also said that you like to play your way into form why is it that you are able to play your way into form uh so from a driving perspective yeah I I think it’s um honestly it’s it’s probably the best driver I’ve had in the last few years um I’ve really gotten comfortable with the driver uh and I think some of the technical things in my swing are just a little bit better and I’m I’m um the the good drives are still very good but the bad drives aren’t as bad so the misses aren’t as wild um and then sorry what was the second part of the question well just you’ve always historically said that you like away form why is that the case for you uh I think for me it’s not I can I can stand all day on a driving range and hit balls and not really learn anything um because I think so many of us out here have got such great hands and have hit so many golf balls um In Our Lifetime that we’re just going to be able to figure it out some way so you know change a little feeling here or there so to me I I learned the most about my game just by playing you know I’ve played a lot this year I’ve sort of figured out where my weaknesses are what my Tendencies are you know how I how I can manage my game better uh and yeah I just I I just like I didn’t I after the win in New Orleans I didn’t pick up a club for six days I hit balls for a couple of hours at the Grove on Sunday before going to Quil Hollow and you know I go and I produce a performance like that so you know some I think you need to know yourself and sometimes it’s about grinding on the Range and working on technical stuff but at other times it’s it’s just about um getting on the golf course playing with a card in your hand and and understanding you know you know how you’re playing a game I think that you know the one thing about golf compared to any other sport is we don’t practice on the field that we play on so you know it would seem counter Inu counterintuitive to spend all your time on on the practice range instead of on the golf course so I’ve just tried to spend as much time on the golf course as I can right Dan seven it’s been quite a few years for you how uh how are your energy levels and and just on a a personal level like how how are you doing I’m ready to play this week John Rory given the success of your Europeans in other major championships can you put your finger on why they have had relatively little success in this Championship I mean I think if you think of uh quintessential American Golf I think you know golf courses that uh we go to for the PJ Championship are are usually you know somewhat like these um I would say kiaa was a little bit different or you know maybe even somewhere like Southern Hills a couple of years ago um but yeah I don’t I I mean I don’t know if I can put my finger on it you know it’s um it’s the same thing G I think GMAC was the first uh I don’t know if he was the first European or the first British player to win the US Open since Jaclyn in 1970 so I mean these things are cyclical and um yeah I don’t know if I can put my finger on it but I think just that you know it’s a you big golf course thick rough softish greens you know that that seems to be more of a American style of of play

You can tell he looks and sounds bit flat with whats going on in his life!was a shock…im guessing she wasnt the woman he thought she was!!
Golfers are asked the dumbest questions!!! Yeah Rory please explain your theory as to why Europeans have had little success in the PGA Championship!!! Please!!!
Watch his games going to start trending up now
Betting that divorcee Rory is about to be the greatest golfer ever
was that colt knost trying to ask about personal feelings when the media was told to specifically not ask him about personal life? wouldnt be surprised if it was him cuz that idiot loves to say the wrong things almost daily.
Rapaport with another shitty question like usual
Mans got nothing to lose now! No baggage, mind is clear going into this major.
Rory is going to win another 4 majors in the next 2 years 🥵
All depends on how he starts!
Let’s go Rors!
I'm getting a damned divorce and that is all I'm saying about that!
Go Rory!
Good luck 🍀 this week Rory !!!! ❤️⛳️
My level of respect for Rory has dropped after he filed for divorce from his wife the week after Mother's Day! A real man doesn't desert his little daughter Poppy who doesn't understand when she asks "where's daddy?"
Rory a two time champ. Confidence should be high. Royal Blue flags high.
Hope he and his wife move on amicably and have great futures
I wonder how much this divorce is going to cost him overall?
It’s really strange for Rory to disclose this personal information at the start of a major championship week, and the day after Mother’s Day.
Now he can focus on his golf! I'm excited to see what is to come for Rory
I love KVV doing the intro's at these pressers.
Dude is going to miss the cut.
swingin' free without the ol' ball n chain
This guy is a tool
