Corey Conners joins Bob Weeks to discuss his game heading into Valhalla this week for the 106th PGA Championship.
all right Cory coners another major championship and one in which you played very well a year ago um how do you feel about your game and the state of things uh coming in this week yeah I feel good about my game um hit the ball really well the last few events um particularly last week and you know it’s what I do best you know ball striking so it’s nice to feel comfortable with that part of my game um driving it well and hitting a lot of good iron shots and um I think that’s going to be very important another tough course this week it is long it’s wet uh how do you navigate your way through and and what do you think will be the the key for you personally to to scoring well yeah I’m not too I’m not too worried about the length not you know certainly not one of the longest hitters but um with the soft greens even with you know mid long irons you can still be pretty aggressive to some of the whole locations um the ball you know is sitting down you know pretty Softly on the green so um yeah just you know try and get a game plan get the ball in the Fairway and get myself as many birdie looks as possible I was just saying to uh to Taylor that this is a busy stretch for you guys you’ve got uh obviously some big some Majors you’ve got the RBC Canadian open a couple of Signature Events and a lot to be decided at the first step at the end of the US Open in terms of Olympics are you able to kind of just catch your breath and put that stuff aside and and also have enough fuel in the tank to play all these tournaments yeah it’s it’s obviously a busy stretch but um you know it’s what we face this time of year you know regardless of you know you know what year it is um there’s some great tournaments coming up and yeah just trying to have fun enjoy it and you know play the best that I can and um you know see what happens but um I feel good about my game and just trying to yeah put put some good rounds together and hopefully uh be in contention this week what about uh Olympics what about President’s Cup uh I mean everybody seems to be playing and and you know a couple weeks ago Taylor wasn’t in the in the mix now he is it seems like it’s such a very fluid uh situation certainly for that second spot anyway in the Olympics yeah it definitely is and obviously it was awesome to see Taylor get his first win he’s he’s playing really really good golf right now so um you know yeah just got to got to do my thing and and see what happens there but uh it’s an exciting time for Canadian golf all of us are you know playing really well and um you know certainly cheering for one another and you know it’s it’s too bad there can only be be a couple guys to make the Olympic team but um yeah I I’ll see what I can do and hopefully uh earn my spot I would certainly love to be there all right thanks Cory good luck this week thank you for
