with me of course and uh I think we got a big show tonight obviously there’s been a lot of hubub the last few days our buddy Jac Duce over at WAP uh with the uh the big uh uh tweeted out early video yesterday before the entire video interview with Brian Kelly dropped this morning uh where Brian Kelly discussed uh div tackles and what they were and weren’t going to do and why they haven’t uh had much success we’re going to discuss that and and debate uh uh whether he’s on the right track wrong track um and where do they go from here and um LSU baseball of course after winning two out of three and and um looks like they’re still in in the hunt and and or more in the hunt than they were for sure and uh LSU softball with what 14 Innings today buddy yeah yeah 14 inning win over Alabama um had a chance to watch that one that was something else today uh over 200 piters from LSU’s picture um and uh basketball recruiting uh been a little light out there as far as info um but uh we’re going to uh coach Kelly followed up with Michael kobble so you’ll be watching both those interviews a lot of discussion about D tackle Ohio State Mike is doing it diametrically Opposite and we’ll get into the ways that you can skin a cat now and build a program but Ryan Day said I need $13 million and their Collective went and got it and they got eight or nine stud players including Judkins from om Miss we know om Miss has moved all their chips in and bought a lot of players we know Florida state did last year and his b so some teams are more active but the question is um and this is CIA and I know you you didn’t uh think that the wording was great about buying the players but this has been going on we’ve been talking about it I was wrong I thought they would bring somebody in here doesn’t look like that got some solutions but um you’re gonna have to stop the run right up the a gap and when you’re telling everybody in the country we need the tackles that’s going to be one of the first things that LSU’s defense has got to answer that question this year well I think part of the problem is is there’s the collective part of it and then there’s the other part that’s I you have the collective the big pot that gets divvied up and there’s folks in in in LSU’s Administration that decide that that’s the big pot of money but then there’s also the outside money where a guy like a local attorney or a loc local chicken man can do what they want to do and decide what the market value is for a particular player um I don’t think Gavin dugy got the same amount of money as Paul skes well yeah but baseball’s a hard analogy because you only have 11 but it is it’s still the same yeah right I know but football money is so much bigger right now than baseball but the but it’s still the same I mean and by the way how much money you think Ski’s got to come here I don’t know I bet it was close to seven figures oh I don’t think so I bet it was big well by the way he got called up and he’s starting his major league career against the Cubs on Saturday so kudos to him I and I asked Todd Walker today on the show about that baseball nil is big I think football gets publicized more and as we know Mike uh when you are bringing in a quarterback and then this is what BK is selling maybe not seven figures but I I guarantee it was lucrative yeah it was lucrative but but you know we talk about and and I said this when he first got here that he wants character as number one and he’s got a whole process and he will in the next couple of days continue to to spit this out but if you’re in Rome you got to do as the Romans do and so uh at some point they’re going to have to pay and you mentioned it today it’s the wording was bad Bryce Underwood is not coming here because he’s gonna get Bargain Basement n they were very competitive on that correct but when you want to bring in a mercenary D tackle and he says I want one five or more well look what does that do to you locker room I’m going to say this and and it’s going to sound like I’m taking a shot at Brian Kelly and I’m not but it’s easy to you know come across as being high and mighty and that we don’t want to build our program this way and and you know talk about I don’t want guys that it’s just about money in this day and age you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do you know when he did what he had to do he did what he had to do when he went got Denver Harris didn’t he you went and got a low character kid who was smoking marijuana in a locker room at Texas A&M now why did you do that why did you take that low character kid’s he’s now at UTSA because he was a need so by hooker crook you’ve got to try and make a go of it when you’ve got that many moving pieces over 100 plus on your roster 85 on scholarship um and so just like when you made bad hires um on defense what did you have to do you had to overpay you had to go out and buy out the bad hires you made um and then go overpay for guys who already had jobs um Bo Davis told you no what’ you have to do you had to offer him more money a few weeks later to get him you got it it’s the same thing so what what has happened with defensive line recruiting Because you’ve recruited so poorly on the defensive line from the high school ranks since you arrived here now it’s time to pay the piper now you can say um you know what do I tell Will Campbell and and emry Jones who’ve been here in committed since high school and have done it all the right way I get that but this isn’t the NFL signing bonuses in terms of contracts are not released to the public that’s none of their business now if you want to talk to them say’ look man we’re in a bind we’ve got to fill this need if we’re going to come close to re reaching expectations for the 20124 season this is a piece we got to have and because it’s defensive tackle a position where it’s not like wide receivers and DBS and other PL uh other positions where you maybe had two in December that you that could have been that guy for you that you liked one of them ended up at your competitor at Old Miss didn’t even come look come didn’t even come for a visit to LSU and then you had what three or four uh one of them is on a quarter system couldn’t get eligible here and so now you’re talking about kids from ULM and Grand Valley State um uh to me it’s just um and then when you look at okay you want to build it from the high school ranks well let’s look at that now your class of 2025 has how many commitments none of them are defensive tackles um I went down the line today and started figuring out which of the guys there’s two or three guys I think LSU is in good shape with state of Texas Bo Davis is recruiting um probably need what three or four there and may but you’re still going to need a couple of portal guys because then you’re going to be young you can’t expect freshman to come in and play right away so yeah but but let’s just kind of throw it out there on the premise though you just kind of made Brian Kelly’s point they had 15 portal guys the first year let’s give Brian poine a little credit now he was a narcissist and pissed everybody off in the building but he did a hell of a job bringing in Greg books f all those guys okay 15 brought in 12 in year two this is year three I think he brought in seven or eight they did get geop that nobody’s been talking about kid from Wisconsin grad transfer he’s going to be another body uh he’s got some experience don’t know how good he will be but bottom line is is that what he has said all along is that um if you want to come here strictly for nil then this is not the place for you so you got Brian Day on the other hand six months ago early on and that first portal bringing in everybody and spending 13 million Old Miss spent all the money but what what team has won a national championship by buying transfers and doing all you got to do the combination right transfer recruit re-recruit your own team but you still have to be money cognizant and I think that’s the biggest thing if you look at the sugar daddies and the the University’s paying these kids and that’s what we’re evolving into whether you want to hear it or not it’s becoming more paid for play every day but LSU Mike is not the top 10 of of paying football players well I I will say this not even close I will say this in defense of Brian Kelly after I’ve gone on this bit of a DI truck um I talked to a Texas Source who’s been covering Texas as long as I’ve been covering LSU last week and he told me that Texas was out of it and why were they out of it because they weren’t going to pay that amount right right same thing so so he was going to pay for Williams but he wasn’t going to pay but they actually have some more able bodies in elsi it’s where they wanted to be but understand he was going to get this guy a nice deal but it was ridiculous and once again locker room management has never been tougher than before right now in college football I’ve got a couple of tidbits that that I think uh I I see them doing but we’ll talk about that right now uh if you lined up I would think it would be Jacobi and gilary and and giop as you’re starting D tackles or is it Jacobian gillery I said Gill and G gillery Savon Jones and parishan and you’re running a three-man front and pasz is a guy that comes in and spells Giller well no you gonna have you you Canna have your Edge guys I mean look uh I think Savon Jones and Paris Shan that’s two of the things I I think you’re GNA now have to move some people on your football team inside because you haven’t done it recruiting and those guys are certainly well vered and known to do this uh we’ll see what happens but it it does kind of leave people with a little bit of a questioning about was there Stalter yo gang uh James more buddy Mike I think Baker is going to have to rely on Team Speed defensively I think we’re going to see a lot of blitzing because of the defensive front uh Caso hurry Mike I got Boot and stuff pork chops working man that sounds good uh Spectrum Ware buddy looks like Mike was right about the lack of interior defensive line success um yeah uh it it’s it’s it’s not something that uh I’m glad I’m I’m right about uh Barry Barb Brian Kelly is correct why pay big bucks to guys who aren’t even good enough to start both TCU and Michigan State had defenses worse than LSU these were not even good enough to play um uh certainly and can you imagine uh a guy that you could pay big money for and then him not perform um Edo the bus driver good even Mike and Buddy um Casto people who think barl Williams are worse seven figure deals are not contributed by your Traditions or enjoy pissing money away LSU offered 500k deals to Wingo Smith the the money is there and this is an interesting th but just to carry on that the word out there and it’s a lot of people believe is accurate 1.4 for Bryce Underwood a quarterback okay I’m gonna ask you guys put it in the comment section if you want to answer the question jaem Stewart at St a for the class of 26 arguably the number one overall player in the country definitely the the lone defensive tackle I’ve been saying for a couple years now he was going to be the next great Louisiana Evenson tackle if Bryce Underwood’s worth 1.4 what’s jaem Stewart worth well look I don’t like discussing those kind of non ver because I don’t know if they’re legitimate or not I just know this Bryce Underwood is the best player in the country and is balling out everywhere well we can say half a million dollars if you want to say $500 is jaem Stewart worth $500 this is the real thing though this is the thing that I’m on side with kellot you’ve got a mercenary transort Deep D tackle that wants to come in here and Garner a million and a half he don’t know what the hell LSU’s about he’s never run the levy he’s never eaten crawfish in budah he’s never been in Tiger stadium and this summer [ __ ] is going to come in here and all of a sudden uh supersede everybody else is is uh this is the problem with nil but there is an offense mindset that could help LSU and I’m G to talk about it later and no nusb driver looking at the three recruiting class including 2025 under BK LSU will break through soon Edo nusb driver I disagree with you if you don’t get that defensive line fix you’re not breaking through you’re going to be as aggravating as you were last year and the year before that and what I fear is going to be this upcoming season if you don’t fix that defensive line you you you’ve got a ceiling now I will say this the LSU schedule sets up nicely you know you buddy and I talk about it every week you beat USC and and uh you’re you’re in a good place but um you know when they do those Futures and they talk about uh you can bet on anything you know you don’t just have your point spread you’re over and under uh when they tell you the other Oppo the the number for opposing running back rush yards you know I’m tempted to take the over each week but but listen once again these coach is are getting paid a lot of money isn’t Blake Baker making 2 million a year huh as the DC I’m pretty sure he’s making 2 million a year yeah and look it’s not his fault no no but my point my point is this he is going to cover up this problem he is going to put uh some you definitely are not gonna go in everybody’s gonna just line up and run I I don’t want to fall into that trap well I my point is this so nobody knows who’s going to line up in D tackle right now and nobody knows exactly what you’re going to be playing against on Saturday night but it has been a FAA but bottom line is is that and I mentioned this to a couple listeners and they said no and you may disagree but this state does not have enough Fortune 500 companies to get into arms and money war with Texas and A&M and Georgia and B and Oregon USC and Miami and we go on and on and on well they got more sugar Dan but but here’s the problem here’s the the Texas walked away from Williams too all right they generally win the money back no but he told me that people saying that kind of stuff that that it’s not true that they’re not getting crazy spending that kind of money on players they could if they wanted to but they’re not well they they do want some some cases um but all it takes is one school willing to do it Miami with Barrow and Oklahoma with Williams um now you can say oh we’re not doing that guys like this and Williams uh and having a Handler and somebody really out front involved on social media that was pretty much handling the whole process I think he kind of knew before he even got here what it was going to take why even bring him in then I mean what were you were you g to talk him out of the money was that no look look right now it it’s highest bter and oh by the way CJ West a kid from Kent State uh he he uh he started uh the recruting thing telling people he wanted a million dollars he wasn’t even going to be academically eligible of course uh he signs or commits to Indiana but most people don’t think he’ll be academic ready but um it reminds us of the old days you and I when we were talking about Ernie B and Ernie batt went to Florida and LSU could not attract a d tackle we talked about it last week so it is an area but oh by the way tiger fans you better worry about punter and you better sh up cornerback and so what we’re just trying to say here is that don’t get poed if LSU’s 12 to 14 in the preseason and they’ve got to beat USC because as you alluded to if they do they’ve got a chance to be 5 and0 with an open date post to no Miss who by the way will probably be number three four or five in the country they’re going to be very highly ranked and so um you got a chance to to U do some things at home this year playing UCLA om Miss Alabama and Oklahoma but it is disconcerting when you see teams and what I was going to say and didn’t finish the point do you think fans would get involved how many fans would get out there and say okay I’ll give $20 I’ll give well uh I was talking to another media guy about this the other day um I mean is someone who’s on Facebook and on social media as much as I am I don’t ever see solicitations on Facebook for the LSU Collective it’s not out there they’re not buying Facebook ads I I don’t know what they’re doing but their marketing efforts are terrible um so uh Ryan Styler I hate saying this but we’re in a world right now unless someone some changes are made this is at times pay for play and we’re s this Pro this is pro football people I mean it is uh they can dress it up and call it something else that it’s not but it it is professional football um Casto Mike Bo Davis is a proven commodity uh defensive lineman from the middle of the road Big 12 and big team team 10 teams are not uh look uh he’s frustrated frustrated this isn’t this isn’t his fault doesn’t have much to he he inherited this um I think he’s going to need some help though um you you can’t have all your assistant coaches on the staff solely recruiting their their their position and that’s it uh Bo Davis is going to need some help from every assistant coach on that staff recruiting defensive lineman don’t just go out if you’re a cornerbacks coach looking for Corners if you see a defensive tackle somewhere you need to uh you know do your due diligence um so did I just call out Corey ramond did I just call out Corey ramman no you didn’t by the way I’m going to spit it out because I I I verified again here are your defensive line coaches since 2017 the one and only Pete Jenkins was the dline coach in 17 Bill Johnson who was an older guy uh of course Pete decided to retire uh coacho brought in Bill Johnson he was the coach for 18 and 19 in 20 meatball you remember Dennis Johnson meatball got a gig then he had some kind of accident remember uh not serious but um playing pick up basketball yeah playing pick ball so he was a deed line coach in 2020 Andre Carter in 2021 Jamar Kane in 2022 Jimmy Lindsay slash John jansik in 2023 now Bo Davis in 24 that’s eight different coaches in eight years that is at the root of this MF problem right now yeah because with not having stability and even though LSU put three in the league that ought to count for something you might say we don’t have good coaching last year on defense they had 3D tackles to go to the league but my point is is that you can’t have that transition at this spot hopefully Bo Davis is gonna be here you lock him up for the rest of his career and he develops and gets us going but it’s not gonna be a quick fix and I think that’s what and so and by the way you’re gonna be right back in I’m gonna say it again uh Domin McKinley um I didn’t have him as a five star I had him as a solid four to me he needs a year or two of work um he’s very raw much like uh Quincy Wiggins was coming out of high school and Savon Jones needed time he’s that same type of kid in my mind k m is agreeing with you yeah um and so so what we’re saying is that so you’re gonna need some high school guys but you’re gonna be right back needing a couple in the portal but I mentioned all those coaches Mike because this is part of the problem not having stability at that coach at that spot and and um but once again Bo Davis is known more for uh giving these guys a push and getting the most out of that Talent developing them not recruiting so I think you’re a couple years away but it it is problematic and it is a little worrisome that they don’t have a better handle on this for 2025 with the recruits yeah High schol recruits just about every bit of LSU’s recruiting class rank since Brian Kelly has gotten here has been probably based 2third or more on offensive weapons um I mean I like some of the DBS and some of the linebackers uh don McKinley had a a nice ranking I think he was overrated by multiple services that had him as a five star I think that was way out of line um you know I think they’re basing on what he might be as a junior and and I think he can get there but now you need to get that kid up to speed as quick as possible and try and shake off an extra year of development and get him in there as soon as possible just because you have to and if you didn’t realize it the first the first 14 picks in the NFL draft this year were all offensive players Mike every one of them six quarterbacks included so um I I’m telling people here in the summer enjoy your summer go spend the the the the the time with your family but get ready once again for you in the first quarter trying to figure out honey baby how many points my Tigers going to have to score tonight to have a chance to win because they’re going to have to outscore people again in 202 yeah Kenny with the Super Chat thank you Kenny said Mike it will all work out in the market alums will not pay to field an 85 man roster this isn’t an ownership situation that was sh yeah okay what does he mean this isn’t an ownership situation I don’t I’m not sure what that means um look it everybody’s predicting it that they’re going to have contracts and they’re going to be employees and if you mean giving up 400 and something yards of offense every week is is working out I don’t know yeah I had anxiety and craziness last week Mike’s got a little frustration on it and you know this is a beautiful thing about whether it’s talk radio whether it’s YouTube or Facebook or or SnapChat or wherever you or Instagram hey it’s a big part of our lives so if if he gets a little passionate tonight I pass the the the the spicy pills over to him and so I I’m excited that he’s ranting and Raven because uh football is around the corner and um you know it’s I I think the biggest thing that got you Mike not that I would ever speak for you but BK addressed it and said we’re going out to de tackles in this second portal situation and right now bu buddy I I I was I’ve been tempted for the last 48 to 72 hours to go to my video all my video that I’ve shot I asked him in November about defensive tackles and it and you know when he said I’ve addressed it because I’m the one that brought it up in November and then again in December when they didn’t sign any and I said y’all might remember I said coach um you didn’t go out after any transfer portal defensive tackles this was what third week of December um does that is that a tell that you know that Mason Smith and and wingo are coming back and he smiled and said I think that’s a trick question being kind of koi about it you know basically giving you a signal that he that they were coming back and then they didn’t come back and I still say he needed one or two in the portal if they were coming back in December now the one thing I was telling buddy the one thing that I missed on was that I thought there was no way that the spring portal period would have is quality of Divens of lineman is December and it actually had one or two more or a few better but overall over overall if you say between December’s portal period and this portal period I mean oh in total how many guys that are there are actually true SEC starters four five six where in to toal in the portal that have been in there oh yeah were there know you just never know I mean look that that goes back you answer the question we’re talking about youm and Grand Valley State kids du Chestnut came from from Syracuse and Denver Harris came from Texas A&M and you know what they stuck their finger in the foul and they got Dr so maybe he learned some lessons on on on that you have to be very particular because you wanted to fit into your culture he’s worked his ass off for two years to change that culture but once again we’re getting into this thing Davos Sweeny said the same thing Kelly said the last day two years ago I’m not going to be paying all that big nil I’m not g to go heavy in the transfer portal and they took a dip um I I still think the last five six teams out of won the the daddy Michigan Georgia Georgia Bama LSU that’s the last five winners um they all built it from high school recruiting but they had additions in the portal look what is speaking of that look what LSU’s cornered in quarterback in the portal in J Daniels I I’ll just say this if you’re G to be unwilling to be on the high end of nil and being competitive for the best of the best players then you’re G to be forever in that category of winning a 10th game in a b and a meaningless bowl game are going eight and four every year because that’s where you’re going to be yeah but a spent 30 million a couple years ago and that blew up in their face so I don’t think there’s any recipe now if Ohio state is play an OM Miss in the national championship game those are the two teams that I think they spent the most on the portal if that works out then there’s your answer right there but it is a little problematic when you see your coach sit there and kind of go against the grain and say well we’re not you know Nick sa said I’ve never bought a player we wasn’t lying he’s bought thousands of them but this is what’s uh see and I wonder when he said that to jacqu if there were some staffers in the building that W weren’t raising eyebrow said oh man I wish you hadn’t said it you know word it like that you know because you know now now now you know there could be some kids out there saying LSU is not going to be doing nil and you know that’s another thing they’ve got hurtled they got to jump through um it all is going to work out folks now whether they are a top 15 team this year by the way do you remember what LSU was ranked last year in the polls the preseason you remember what they were rank preseason take a guess what were they seventh eth five okay and what do you think they’re going to be preseason rank this year you agree with me 12 to 14 I think somewhere between 12 and 14 15 so right there that tell tells you in year two your preseason five because it was quarterback and Jaden and all that but now you got some questions uh you talked about the schedule if you beat USC you got a chance to be 5 and0 and play oh miss but if you lose that USC game and you come in at 12 or 14 now you’re into the 20s and guess what cfp 12 is by well no I’m looking at that game at South Carolina and asking questions you know what what if that game at William Bryce is a night game you know what do they have you know you now you’re talking about how you’re going to have to outscore people and you need the running game to be Stout because you want to keep the defense off the field uh Kenny Haynes uh with another Super Chat it means we don’t own LSU football it’s not an investment for us um okay I’ll see what you’re saying now yeah um no but but if if and remember when you uh when this started up and I remember I said to the Texas audience and the the people and I said you guys are going to have to start bellying up if you want those Texas stars to keep coming LSU it is competitive as hell right now and I can’t wait to see Will Campbell and all these other guys when we get back with media operations because somebody’s GNA ask them hey Will what did you think when you heard I heard will on a commercial Louisiana National Bank today that’s what ni am was supposed to be okay but what do you think they’re talking about Mike when they hear these overtures and this guy who’s never had a sack in the SEC he’s never played one second in the SEC and yet he’s commanding a million and a half oh by the way the Monic Williams is gonna be in Tiger stadium if he’s still HTH I I I just you know if you go too many years in a row where you don’t this state is not producing defensive tackles I I don’t know what the answer is going to be if you’re not because you know how many of them are legit starters in the SEC each and every recruiting class you know if you have a a national 250 or a national 300 how many Bonafide defensive tackles are in those 300 players um where are they located can you get them you know I know LSU is pursuing about four or five in the state of Texas right now um You got a couple in Hattisburg Mississippi um I think O is a kid who’s been LSU many times I I think that looks good but that’s always been a difficult draw to get kids out of Mississippi um unless they’re from Long Beach or gulport um you know MOS Point alender Jackson uh you know but that those areas uh you know where was stepen Ridley from he and he was Private School football it’s it’s very rare depending on the location but um yeah uh Spectrum Ware Sean Washington and Jay Le will be pleasant surprises next year who’s that Washington and who Sean Washington and Jaylen Lee okay well we saw him in Spring and uh one of the first reports we did I said May might maybe Sean Washington look see this spring and unfortunately he was always running with the three so uh he had a rough transition and he’s got to make up see that’s the other thing we don’t know that’s a perfect example of a guy who could work his butt off and get developed and get bigger and stronger and learn all the tricks of the trade from Bo Davis and be an appreciably better football player than than we saw a a month ago um the the other thing that I I continue to say is that you know offense defense and special teams if you are this week at D tackle I really believe Joe Sloan Kelly and the rest of them are GNA have to say you know what’s the strongest part of the the offense the offensive line okay and what happens when you run the football in college football now the clock it keeps running don’t stop at a first down anymore you may see and I can’t believe they didn’t do this last year but they were scoring every four or five minutes but you may see LSU be a little more run oriented to run that clock because the longer that defense is on the sidelines the better they’re off I’m not saying they’re not trying to score score uh points I’m just saying they may run some more clock to shorten that game in the amount of time that defense is on because a lot of people are doing this parallel and I wanted to wait tonight to ask you the question is the defensive tackle spot going to be as bad this year as the quarterback spot and DBS were last year yep yep um you think it is yeah okay I don’t know I I don’t know but uh you thought it was you were right as far as recruiting we’ll see what comes out in the pudding started September one yeah um you know I I talked to some High School coaches that have coached Louisiana High School football for years and every chance I get I’ve had in the last year six months or so I’ll say why where are the Divens of lineman and nobody has a real answer um I mean we remember the 90s and uh we talked about it last week and um but it’s never been like this for multiple years in a row since the 90s and um it’s crazy um all right man we’re we’re 36 minutes in and we haven’t paid any had a little bit more of a struggle getting acclimated but uh I don’t know Mike if uh we will ever see a one-year baseball player come in and and and do what he did I mean to sit there and consecutively throw 101 101 102 uh it’s still mind fogl and he is going to be the talk of the major leagues uh here starting in another week or so Ceno I would not have given those two defensive line lineman anything more than a five pound box of Budan and a case of truly no SEC starts you know what truly is those uh yeah yeah I’ve never had one yeah I hadn’t either but I know what they are yeah I see them all over the grocery store well and and you know it’s interesting course they did have a little show and dance where they showed what uh I think Williams had posted this look this is what LSU’s uh trying to enticed me with and and uh it it wasn’t that impressive but that all being said look uh bottom line it’s a changeing landscape these guys are getting paid a lot of money you got to trust and hope that that they know what’s going on but once again realize this has been a step by step of building this locker room this culture but here’s the problem when you feed them 10 and you feed them 10 I don’t know any Tiger fan that wants nine or less do you no so expectations are going to be there and we know that and that’s something you got to accept and and if you have to pay money people will embrace it if you get there but what about those guys in the locker room I can’t imagine the first time if demonic Williams had gotten 1.2 million to come in there I can’t imagine see that’s what I don’t like about the whole thing do you think the LSU fan base expects a playoff this year I hope not uh Trucking with Casper uh with a super chat thank you for that Casper uh always a a big uh supporter of our Channel and always in our shows and he says coming in late great show guys uh thank you for that Casper big time um absolutely uh why can’t LSU this is efim price why can’t LSU recruit DTS in the high school classes and not have to depend on transfers at the back end late in the cycle elu should be recruiting DTS at an equal level as o line well I just listed eight coaches in eight years that’s been part of the that’s it eight coaches in eight years Louisiana is not putting them out in in not only numbers but High Caliber I mean you you remember it wasn’t long ago with the offensive line this state wasn’t doing it and now now you had of course the year with Campbell and Jones um and now you’re consistently having one or two as long as you have one or two offensive lineman every year and you keep getting them you know and then you do well uh out of state on others uh you’re in good shape but when you go multiple years in a row or you have a year where you you get a couple and one of them is uh a project and the other one needs time um and with everything that they’ve dealt with what they inherited uh maybe some poor uh recruiting since he got here um it just all adds up but I you know I’m not blaming Blake Baker or Bo Davis or or any of the brand new coaches on the defensive side of the ball um obviously the offensive coaches are getting it done um but to me it’s got to get this defensive tackle situation rectified I think every coach on the staff has to be involved in that position until it gets done and it’s only fair if we don’t got to interject some of the fairness Jimmy Lindsay was hard as a defensive line coach and had a medical situation um just is and it’s partly bad luck that’s what I’m saying they’ve had a lot of extenuating circumstances but butut uh you you still have to be o able to overcome that and have a plan B and a plan C and I think that’s what’s really irritated you more because it was so funny when Mike was asking him during the season in November well the fact that you didn’t sign any portals early D tackles in the portal early do you think that maybe some of those guys will coming back and of course you know he he had a little comment that you alluded to that he’s trying to be a trickster here but did you think one of the three would come back Jordan Jefferson I think was done but Mason who went in the second round which shocked I was wrong there and maai who went to sixth round because he’s short and short arms I think it’s a great bit with Detroit but do you think and what was the number there we heard what 500,000 for the I’m I’m trying to remember of those two which one I thought at any particular time was likely coming back but I will I will tell you that they offered a nice Pock of money at Christmas time at Christmas they thought both those guys were coming back yeah um they’re going to have some DET tackles uh at some point folks but uh Blake Baker is going to figure out a best way to to get that defense it’s going to be a lot of fun and uh you know uh we we’ll see we’ll see what happens between now and and June workouts and then the start of fall camping office uh oh Danny girl realistic fans do not expect a playoff this year but most of the fan base has on purpose gold glasses and seiz through hope and belief and not caliber of roster um I will say this I think with what LSU has on offense and had they got a a couple of heavy hitting defensive tackles maybe one in December one in May uh I I I would probably be saying that this is a playoff team just because of the way the schedule lays out I want to see what is important now now I can’t get there but when you have 12 getting there and not four I want to see what the premium is on so you play in USC to open up in Vegas a neutral site and you’re host in UCLA and then you’ve got the Blockbuster SDC schedule and so a lot of people I’ve talked to yeah well if they go 10 and two but they might be able to get in who knows at this point yeah who knows how undefeated uh look uh you agree Texas and Georgia are going to go in as his two favorites in in the SEC Georgia one Texas 2 um Alabama oh miss 34 oh miss might even be predicted to I I think I’d probably have it is your when you’re talking about your two best teams in the league I might go Georgia than Old Miss well I think I I think we got to wait to see Lane kiens never won a championship in his life never ever to me that’s the toughest game on LSU schedule that’s the best team that they play well well and you know what they were undefeated in BK’s first year coming in here 7 and0 I think and guess what happened they went to poop now we’ll see but uh Texas is is going to be good uh look Oklahoma’s not going to be chop liver Missouri’s going to be highly ranked else SEC is going to have once again and so we’re thinking 12 to 14 so if they’re preseason 12 to 14 what do you think they have to do record wies to get there at least 10 and two right yeah I I you you’re not getting the playoffs at nine and three no no way so what and how many teams you’re G have a lot of 10 and two football teams by the way shout out to OD Danny girl and nurse court and all of those great female uh LSU fans that bring so much to all the discussions and shows that they interact with and uh I think everybody appreciates them I know there’s some people that are jealous of them because they more football than they do but uh Hey O Danny girl at nurse Court you you keep trucking and I think she answered it perfectly what she said and that answer was that my heart says they make the playoffs but my head says probably not this year Todd Davis how about softball Taylor Pleasants walks off Alabama yeah I watched uh pretty much all of it uh and that that was something else um I missed the the last hit to win it because I was on the show on Buddy’s show uh then then he hit me with uh what’s the score and then I look and I look like I had to look at the box score but uh and then rewind the tape but yeah that was a a man 14 Innings and um what’s the pitcher’s name uh B Sydney berson Bon was it 206 pitches by the way Mike hates it when I share his personal information but he told me that if they bring in a couple of solid D tackles in the portal he is going to get that same belt that that LSU base B that championship belt if Carl the cat had that belt it’d be one thing but D’Angelo is not if you sit in the softball stadium within four rows of that guy let me know if you enjoy that but anyway he wants a belt like camp but I wonder how much pop there was going to be because last year the first thing we saw is that these in Corners can’t guard anybody this year once again I think the number one question on of bad luck uh too many coaches um but uh we we’ll we’ll see if they get it right may maybe they need to put some incentives in everybody’s contracts um it’s funny you said that I mentioned that earlier and and I said if they ever asked me about nil and they don’t do this with coaches really either but wouldn’t it be a little more real real istic so you get a guy and you say okay this is what we’re going to get you to come here okay but if you have five socks or more this is what you’re going to get if you have 10 tfls if you have a 3.0 in other words in sence do you think they would buy in on that no they want it now well I’m just saying this is America pay me now later I I’m just uh talking about um you know giving incentives to the staff motivated and have every you know I I we end up watching old reruns of Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares and I saw one night where he had challenged a weight staff to sell appetizers in desserts and the winner got a Bonus at the end of the night well maybe have some bonus structure about who who can uh find defensive tackles and get him in for visits and and you know and do it that way I look there’s no doubt the June Camp slate is going to be huge they’re going to bring in a bunch of defensive line for uh multiple July June camps you got the buay you Splash event as well this summer when you had the Friday Night Lights last year when you had Bryce Underwood and all the and Harlem Berry and everybody there they’re going to have a replay of that again um the summer is going to be very very important um so you got to get the high school component done um and look uh a lot of this uh hand ringing and everything is not the fault of the current defensive coaches it’s a carryover of a lot of things but uh we we’ll see how they how they figure it all out it’s um but I will say this it’s you know but when he sat down with jacqu yesterday and then jacqu put out that uh what was it about 45 second clip that uh gave every uh YouTube uh college football podcaster uh YouTuber radio talk show host something to talk about it all through throughout the country I I I saw probably no less in in my YouTube feed at least 25 different videos that had Brian Kelly’s uh comments on nil and all that um and look this is the debate that they’re having in every college town in America it’s not just LSU and so um some of it’s unrealistic some of it’s not but this this isn’t uh just an LSU uh problem and we’ve said it numerous times Mike I’ve said it on this show you’ve got to be a businessman I mean look at the changing look at the changing landscape by the way in case you missed it Kelly Sabin and sanki went to Washington to try to get something done with the the politicians and you know uh that that’s generally not going to be the case but um uh the changing landscape I’ll just take Jaden Daniels like I used last year what do you think Jaden Daniels if he was coming out this year and LSU needed a quarterback and LSU was going to sign him this year you know just like the same scenario for ma State what do you think he’d be commanding now it’d be a lot more money than it was two years ago but what BK is telling everybody is that you can get paid now or you can get paid on draft night did you just see what we just did Daniels is 38 million Malik neighbors I forgot what is his in 20 Brian Thomas Jr’s 14 15 million that’s three offensive players those guys were developed do you want to get get a big old bag of cash and go buy a new ring and a new watch and new rims and tires but piss out away and not have anything or you want to come over here get a little bit of the deal work your butt off fit in with the culture get develop and then when you get because that’s where the real money is this is play money compared to the NFL draft money yeah um and he said that what was his quip um I don’t want anybody who’s coming here to to retire of you know get their retirement in college football um I get it but um it’s like what Lang kein said multiple times and he’s he’s nailed it uh for over a year you you’ve got multiple paydays is a is a you get a you get an ni deal coming out of high school You’ got high school players getting nil deals in certain States uh you you got the uh demanding a pay increase or I’m going to transfer nil deal bump and pay you’ve got your transfer nil deal when you transfer one time and then if you graduate early you can get another one and and you don’t even have to graduate early to transfer again because there you know it’s just a wild wild west and the NCA is allowing everything you can transfer how many times now with not sitting out um BK and LSU beat two top 10 teams BK’s first year om Miss and Bama both win Tiger Stadium they are both back in Tigers Stadium how many games you think now this is a crap shoot to actually this now but because of the the fluidity of of everybody’s teams but how many games do you think LSU will be favored in this year um they’re favored against USC yeah um I think it depends how they come out of September whether they would be favored against Old Miss at home okay agree with that um I don’t know what to make A&M in their first year with a new coach who knows without you know I’m sitting here thinking eight and four but and when I say eight and four I still think LSU is probably favored in 10 or 11 games I think they’re G be favored in nine of 10 games probably so uh we we’ll see but um it’s going to be an interesting season and it is definitely a year not to sell you season tickets as some Blockbuster home games of course everybody knows that they’re going to have the same teams next year so it’s playing the same eight Conference teams of course the the the facility changes and you’re if you’re at home this year you’re on the road so next year LSU on the road with all those things I still have not talked to anybody that knows what it’s like to to go play OU at uh uh and so that’ll be a good but next year on the road how about that at om Miss at Alabama at um Clemson uh Oklahoma well yeah at Clemson to open up the season uh thanks V this is one of the reasons why Mike wants these D tackles to come in here because in the big picture if you don’t get a defense and you don’t have a good year then you risk losing some of those 202 verble commitments and and it’s not just that then you’re going to lose your how many offensive linemen this year four out of the five you know so you know and that that’s part of where it’s like I don’t want to say hand ringing but it’s you know for most of of the last 20 years we would look at at LSU and look at the recruiting classes look at the sched look at the quarterback situation and and say you know what and then typically we figured out the formula that it was the odd years that LSU was likely could run the table right yeah right because you’d get you know Alabama at home or whatever or they beat Alabama there and yeah 0109 have Auburn and Florida at home orever yeah all the all the odd years um but now but but now you but now you you you’re looking ahead and you’re like okay well if you don’t think they’re a playoff team this year and you’re going to lose four uh offensive linemen and um Kiren Lacy right yeah um are you Josh Williams will be gone yeah um and you’re like okay well when do you project where you you feel LSU is a contender for a title in the next couple of years and used to be able to do that regularly from you know what 2003 on and uh I I don’t know where you do that now by the way if you’re bringing your rosary beads to Tiger Stadium clutch them very tightly because you know we’re sitting here in the summer and saying yeah D tackle this and all that if you don’t keep Garrett NM healthy and vertical yeah we haven’t even talked about that I was gonna say I was gonna say but you’ve got to keep him healthy and happy and um interesting we know there’s going to be leaders on that o line it will and emry Jones real quick I did this in my head the transfer guys you have starting on offense miles frager at one guard Daniels you expect Daniels from Liberty to start at some point he came over from Liberty yeah no I I don’t know about that Savon Miss Mississippi State air but I’m saying there’s GNA be a nice rotation I think everybody’s gonna play a lot is a good combination but you got to get back to get people because the PRI that I can’t tell you the number of comments and I got people that go all the way back to Chinese Bandits and the goal line stands are you kidding me you got to get back to some physicality and play big ball Big Boy defense uh to to get back and and be considered in the top five top 10 again yeah because we haven’t seen good defense in five
