[Music] a welcome to the early wedge presented by bmgm a special early wedge on Monday it’s PGA Championship week we had to bring it an extra day so you know you had another day to make your picks I’m your host EC otherwise known as Eric Cohen we have the best golf experts on this program you learn a lot of new things I learn a lot of new things and you might get some parlays from me at the end of the show so let’s bring them in here on a Monday a day earlier than usual we have the great CBS Sports golf writer Patrick McDonald and the host of the early Edge Monday through Friday at 10: a.m. eastern the great C aad easy for me to say Patrick you were out at uh qu Hollow this week saw Rory dominate how was your experience it was awesome I always love being on the grounds it feels like you have uh some inside knowledge a little inside baseball there and uh great great golf course it’s a great uh just a great property for an event like that it’s going to be great for the PG J next year as well I can see why the PJ of America likes to go there and it was good to see uh some of the guys see Victor grind a lot on the Range see maxom kind of fine-tune some stuff talk to them as well and it was just uh it’s cool I I I love going and and travel to these uh tournaments did you get us a Scotty baby update after last week the baby has been born uh per multiple uh reports okay so uh not from the horse’s mouth because I do not know Scotty sheffler like you put on but uh per per other people hey I’ll Trust your sources all right see we’re on to we’re on Valhalla PGA Championship but we’re doing the show on a Monday is it harder for you to make your definitive picks this early in the week as compared to having the next 24 hours let’s say that we usually do oh I’m sorry I got I got to interrupt this it sounds like Patrick McDonald has some breaking news he is best friends with Scotty sheffler and he is breaking Scotty sheffler has had his child Patrick McDonald thank you for that breaking news okay back to your question so the answer is yes and no what I mean by that is it’s not harder to think of my outrights because that’s probably not going to change unless there’s some huge shift in the weather which in some tournaments we do have that uh but I don’t think we’re gonna have that in this one but I will say this like there’s not as many markets out right so we have to kind of like give our picks out but but I’ve kind of held some in reserve right because I have my article that’s probably going to come come out Wednesday morning as opposed to Tuesday night because I want to waake wait for the Full Slate of matchups to come out I want to wait to see when the T times are so I can do the the first round leader thing that I the process that I usually like to adhere to so you know I’ll say this like we have picks for this show and we have a lot of picks for this show and and it’s going to be the same sort of flow but in my article I’ll definitely have more just because we’re doing the show a little bit earlier than normal Jerry in the chat you’ll be who will be at Valhalla on Sunday I am so jealous that looks like an it’s going to be an absolute blast but it’s just this course is so long I mean when when you look at what happened at Quail Hollow I mean 7500 yards I think this course is even longer am I right Patrick 76 and change if I read it correctly 76 and change rain coming tomorrow a lot of players out there on the golf course early and often today get it to get as much prep work done as possible rain on Wednesday as well in Rain maybe leading into the weekend so you got 7600 with a lot R that’s going to be wet and juicy and it seems like uh the profile for who can win this golf tournament is shrinking by the day well uh we’re going to get into storylines and discuss who is going to win this golf tournament I guess Patrick will’ll start with you uh your storyline is I guess makes a lot of sense go for it my storyline I think it’s the probably the storyline is is it going to be one of the big three or is it going to be the field you have Scotty Sheffer who has a great chance to add major number two of the Season really give life to the Scotty slam conversation that many are already having you have Brooks kka winning major number six I don’t think people realize how much a half dozen Majors is it’s sevy it’s Phil and it’s F and it could be Brooks kepka by the end of the week and he’s a very good Defender mind you right these things tend to coming Twos for Brooks Kea he went back toback at the US Open he went back to back at the PGA Championship before oh yeah he’s coming off a win and then of course you have Rory mroy back-to-back wins hasn’t won a major since 2014 at Valhalla The Vibes are there the the the pressure is going to be there obviously can he get it done or will someone come out of nowhere someone from the that next range come out and steal the WM maker trophy from one of these three well CA you’re playing an interesting angle on this and I actually think it’s very very Savvy as per most of the things that you do on this program I 100% agree with you what is your storyline so this all revolves around Scotty Sheffer especially since you know and Patrick addressed it this is a betting show and it’s like how do you deal with Scotty Sheffer do you just take him at plus 400 do you figure out a way to to fade him while still trying to make money in the outright market and by the way G gour Morrow says was Victor working on his chipping by chance that question of course is for Patrick uh I don’t do we go back to Victor hin he had an amazing Sunday the ball striking was great it was just that short game just that short game as if those shots don’t count but here’s the thing about Scotty Sheffer like I I mean it’s been hard for me in the outright Department because I have refused to pay the plus4 or to to Levy any money on the plus 400 or the plus 450s on Scotty sheffler and about a month ago maybe even longer six weeks ago I introduced at least on this show at least for this year hey maybe we need to go with those without Scotty shuffler markets and there was not much push back I think people understood where I was coming from but there there’s also like that the push back that like that’s not the EV play and things of that nature I mean I think I’ve come to the conclusion this week while I’m gonna have one or two outrights that I’ll sprinkle in uh just like just regular outrights I’m gonna be looking at other markets without Scotty maybe without Scotty and others as well because I don’t think the the number shift is and I understand it’s going to be beneficial to the books anyway I don’t think the number shift is enough for me to say say to myself oh I want to include Scotty in this outright market so I’m gonna be attacking the outright Market you’ll see it on this show from a different angle so here’s my thing about Scotty this week he hasn’t played since the RBC Heritage which is what three four weeks ago are we worried about that layoff that a lot of these guys generally are I mean Brooks kka he won a couple weeks ago Rory mroy won last week that to me is why normally I would play that angle that you’re doing I think I’m going to play the the normal outrights here and one guy that I’m not going to play that I probably shouldn’t it’s Rory mroy because after winning at Quail Hollow is he being overvalued or undervalued at seven to18 to one odds after his dominant final round on Sunday Patrick I kind of I’ll ask you that one like do you Rory at this price we I think you gave out a stat uh I don’t know if this was on Twitter I think I saw you give out a stat that Rory has never won a major coming off of a a win the previous week is that right or is like o for his last something uh I did not put that stat out there you’re once again putting words into my mouth he is on the Scotty sheffler be not on anything else you you wonder why I have all these trolls coming at me they’re like oh Patrick said this Patrick said that it’s because of you e I’m gonna have to start directing them and forwarding I did tweet out that it it’s actually an insane stat so Rory mroy has obviously won four major championships at four different Vint so before the 2021 PGA Championship he won the week before that was his return to kiaa before the 20123 open he won the week before that was his return to Royal Liverpool and before the 2024 PGA Championship he won the week before in his return to Valhalla all I said was remind me in 2030 when they go back to Congressional to bet on Rory mroy the week before that even at the age of 41 I will be betting Rory mroy that week he’s an auto fade just right there I mean what I heard he’s temporarily on the list this week only Ry maoy not winning based on the stat that Patrick escap I’m just just rolling with it right here all right let’s get into DFS picks Rory mroy is not on this list but see you see you one of my picks is your fade and I like listen I know that ludc pulled out last week and had a knee issue I think that’s my minor let’s let’s uh let’s Overlook it but he’s your fade this week why so so here’s the thing about ludvig and I know David to likes ludvig in a three ball which is interesting because I have targeted that three ball as well in a different way there were and I think we’ve all seen this on Twitter I I wish I could give credit to who it was and I I think I I saw some quote tweets about it ludig was out there today maybe Patrick knows this as well and it did seem to me based on what I was seeing on Twitter that he was grabbing at his knee a little bit now I don’t think it was affecting his game like he was he practice around I think in terms of like how he was striking it I think it looked fine but I kept hearing and again this might be noise I kept hearing that ludvig was kind of grabbing at his knee sort of casually and that doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy going into this tournament again more likely than not it’s noise but if you’re gonna give me a reason because I wasn’t I probably wasn’t GNA be on ludvig outright anyway and I probably wasn’t G to play him in DFS anyway even though I think he’s an excellent course fit I just probably wasn’t getting to him if you’re going to give me an additional reason to consider fading him that’s what I’m going to do oberg is going to be very popular in this tournament not withstanding the the the alleged knee issue uh and that’s just another reason for me to fade him I’m going to kind of go down into the sort of these bottom middle ranges here I’m gonna start with benan who listen the ball striking we know about benan it’s phenomenal and that’s resulted over his last four tournaments a third a fourth 67th and 16th over his last four and these are Big Boy tournaments he rates out really well in a lot of things not just the ball strike long iron play it all checks out carry distance uh ball speed which is going to be talked about a lot this week Greens in regulation the problem with him as we all know is the putter but over the last two tournaments and I’m not saying he’s found something but I am saying that two like gaining with the putter in two tournaments in a row in a very significant way does tell me something it’s at least a piece of information for me and I do think at at what 7,800 this is a guy that if he does find the putter again could could absolutely top 10 this tournament so I like him sep straka I would almost say the same thing about sep straa uh irons there have been a couple of slip ups with him but he can absolutely Spike with the iron play The Long iron play he’s gained with the putter in three out of his last four his last four finishing positions again Big Boy tournaments for the most part T8 t11 T5 t16 like he belongs on a different stoos sphere if you will and he’s just not there yet I made that up in the moment I swear I know everybody absolutely what a pro oh my God at 7500 I’ll take that he’ll probably be relatively popular as we been on but there’s a lot of guys in the 7K range that that should Merit some popularity now I’m going to go deep in the depths here in the 5K range you want to build a Scotty lineup more power to you you might have to go into this 6K or 5K Market at a 6K flat I I’ll say this because he’s not on this board Taylor pendrith makes a lot of sense because he seems to be popping I thought he’d maybe have a let down last week he absolutely did not but Eric Van royan at 5700 I think might be worth a stab I don’t think he’s going to get much ownership at all the approach play has been solid long iron Greens in regulation finished fourth at Myrtle Beach last week which which is pretty decent 33rd at the RBC um he’s been pretty good in some of these big boy tournaments including the API cognizant he did well Vidant did well these aren’t necessarily course comps but the play has been better than the 5700 indicates so I like EVR as kind of a flyer play but I did want to throw out Taylor pendrith at 6K as another type of low-end play that has some upside yeah I mean I still can’t get over the St what the stros spere is that what you said is that oh that’s that that was outstanding aming now I went there you go I went and looked before this segment at the alternates on the PGA Championship list and unfortunately in the top five alternates Grayson Sig is not one of them he did not take care of business in Myrtle Beach last week Chris gdup did and he’s in the field but Patrick is still going to The Bargain Bin under 7000s Kurt kyama start there yeah I’m gonna start with Grayson Sig at zero dollar uh if you can fit him in your lineup please do but yeah Kurt kyama see you touched on it ball speed Club head speed G going to probably be a big factor this week KK Kama is very long off the te he’s a great driver at the golf ball he played well at Oak Hill last year as well with a top 10 finish he’s won at a long difficult Golf Course like Bay Hill so I think 6,500 is uh a pretty good price and his iron play seems to be turning around off the te he’s always going to be good but the iron play seems to be making a move now that done that I’m gonna zag completely zag on the profile that everyone’s playing you got to hit it long you got to hit it long you gotta hit it long you know who doesn’t hit it long Denny McCarthy and I don’t think it matters I’m gonna say it doesn’t matter top 10 at Quail Hollow last week for his second top 10 in a row at Quail Hollow like you said EC that’s a golf course that’s over 7500 yards oh this is a Jack Nicholas design where has Denny McCarthy played well oh I don’t know he was a par away on the 72nd hole from winning at Jack’s Place last year as well so it’s going to be wet it’s going to be long I don’t love all of that for Denny McCarthy but I do love Denny McCarthy at 6,300 as well and I think people will be afraid to play him because he’s a short hitter and I will take the chance with that I know we talked about Grayson seg being my guy but Taylor Moore he’s like 1B at this point it feels like I’m always playing I thought Adam Scott was there I thought Adam Scott was one b and Taylor Moore is one C but who’s counting yeah yeah I mean Adam Scott might be a little too goodlooking where I get a little self-conscious and stuff like that so Taylor Moore we’re going to roll with 6200 I I think the play was a lot better than what the result indicated last week he was inside you know the top 20 for most of the week he was on the first page of the leaderboard at some stages as well kind of fell off over the over the weekend especially The Green Mile just ate him up on Sunday in particular too so I’m going to back to him at 6200 plenty long and he has a really underrated short game and then I had a tough time trying to figure out who to fade uh I thought about Brooks couldn’t get there because he has a way of making people look very very very very dumb if you don’t pick him in major championships so I went with h at 97 nothing in particular that I don’t like about him I just love the NK range I mean you got Bryson you got wendam I think walk neeman’s a very good play and I know we already mentioned him but I think this is the time to buy in on Victor as well so uh just because of that I think uh H is going to be a pass for me I think you guys are missing one in the bargain uh Bin and I actually put together my lineup actually have two guys that I think you missed McKenzie Hughes who is 6,000 who I threw in there I think he’s played well lately and you know he’s I figure at 6,000 good value and another guy I’ll talk more about later in the show is Dean burmester from the live tour 7,000 would be right in that category I actually put LV on my team so guilty is charged uh I’m telling you what I don’t think Dean will be that high owned but here’s another one that I want to ask you about CA you’re very good with the ownership percentages and such Michael block is like 5200 I’m serious he’s 5200 you know that the casual golf fan is gonna pick Michael block this week he should be relatively High owned am I am I wrong here no you’re wrong yeah this is why yeah like there’s no like even the Casual fan like if we’re talking about like like the biggest tournament that like it like with like $1 Stakes like somebody might throw that in for fun but the truth is if you go down to the 5K range there’s a lot of names down there like I I’m literally just scrolling it right now like Ben Kohl’s is is 5400 I mean there there’s PL Doug gim is 5500 Rio hitsun is is 5600 there’s some guys down here that people Perez so who’s been playing well at 5700 nobody is going to pay for nobody’s going to play for Michael Block it’s just it’s just not going to be I almost want to have a showdown as to what the ownership percentage of Michael block will be this week I don’t have a number though so we we’ll have yeah I’ll tease the later segment though but Michael block does show up I’ll give you that does he really okay he shows up all right all right there we go uh Jake says you don’t like blocky so we’ll just we’ll we’ll touch on that later all right a few comments before we move on here David talk say the dambo your thoughts Patrick love him love him we will be talking about him later uh okay then we had one um M petrini JR says why do I want to play with e root this week CA yeah I think it’s a no on ecro I mean I wasn’t on him last week and I think e Root’s a good player but on a tougher course we kind of saw how he devolved as the week went and it really got bad for Austin EK road I don’t really see much upside I think the floor is extremely low and and on this course with this field I don’t think the upside is there I I don’t absolutely hate it but if if last week is any indication as to what he’s going to do on a tougher course it’s definitely a no for me all right Patrick the better value Moshe got Sheffer top 10 in all four majors at plus 650 or you can bet him to win the Grand Slam at plus 4,000 40 to one if I gave you money to do one of the two you want you want better value which is the better value not which is more likely to happen clearly the top 10 is more likely which is the better value I think the top 10 yeah so much can happen I I hate I hate the Grand Slam odds to begin with uh but yeah probably the top 10 just I mean his floor is so high in his last 15 Majors he has 10 top 10 so I’ll roll with that one we’ve gone 20 minutes and nobody’s mentioned Tiger Woods did would either of you consider him for as a DFS candidate this week no definitely not all right well that was that was quick okay we’ll move on to frls and you know what we’re a little disappointed because seea it’s a Monday we don’t have the D the draw isn’t out yet so the the frown face is is there but Patrick you’re making up for it and I actually think you have a really good card explain why you like Bryson and waen thanks yeah Bryson Des Shambo 40 to won first round leader in this tournament last year at Oak Hill first round leader at the Masters this year plenty of Firepower we know the upside is there I want to get in on Bryson early and often and then waen the dream Neeman at 50 to1 it seems like kind of that shine pre-masters after that really good start on live golf kind of wore off a little bit but he’s I mean after the Masters I he finished what like top 25 there he’s continue to play very very good golf on live golf and he is a fast starter he has been throughout his career and I think he’s in for a good week very good on Nicholas design golf courses very long sneaky long and so I’ll give him a chance at 50 to one on Thursday hey let me let me jump in real quick because by the way the chat like and you you you see you’ve done a good job pointing it out but the chat’s on fire right now uh Joe newfeld uh Stewie Matt Lawson says EC is on the Block Woods T20 can somebody calculate that for us a T20 parlay with Michael block and Tiger Woods 500 to one 500 no way no way no it might be longer than that it might be longer than that um no first round leader see know Josh I will have a first- round leader it or first round leaders it will be in my article it’s just I’m I’m waiting for tea times and and one of the things about a Monday show is typically We’re not gonna have the te times I will say though I I do like Patrick’s plays I mean I think probably Bryson might be in the conversation uh for me when when I actually put these out in my Sportsline article other names that I have in mind uh benan Brooks Kea who like you know again he’s plus 1400 to win the tournament but his first round leader odds are probably going to be in like the 22 to 25 to one range because that’s how first round leader odds work especially with those at the top of the board um Terrell Hatton I think is an interesting look again all this depends on tea times and I’ll say this Victor havland I don’t think he can win the tournament but if we go by what we saw on Sunday which again small sample size but we do know a larger sample size with Victor hland and the ball striking uh if the putter gets hot and we see the ball striking we saw on Sunday I think he’s a pretty decent first round leader candidate knowing that his first round leader odds are probably be in the 40 to 50 to one range all right so I’m gonna play this a little bit differently here oh first of all by the way what did you guys think that the Michael block Tiger Woods top 20 parley would be what would your guess be I I put it together 700 to one okay Patrick what would you guess well I would think Michael blocks odds alone are probably 500 to one what uh what what is he combined with tiger 110 to1 for Michael block individually Tiger’s plus 650 combined you can get that at plus 83150 so you know 831 to one you know take a shot there that was pretty close yeah that wasn’t bad see it 700 to1 that’s I probably would have put it around 500 or less so that’s interesting all right I’m gonna play round one Top Value yeah value play Let’s hammer it let’s hammer it get that parlay in there uh all right round one top 20s how about this this Market found this at at DraftKings uh walking Neeman plus 250 cam young plus 260 Tommy Fleetwood plus 275 Dean burmaster plus 380 all you got to do is finish in the top 20 and don’t tie with anybody around 20th and we cat this so if we we hit two of these we make a lot of money I’m just telling you so we just have to hit two of the top 20 in the first round I mean how hard is that there’s only what 156 golfers we got this all right throwing that in there all right coming up next let’s find out I’m really curious to see what this Michael block thing is I haven’t looked ahead in the itinerary but first let’s hear from one of our sponsors you need your you got yeah again we’ll have a lot more coming out uh in all of our Sportsline articles but we had a three ball tournament matchup that that I was intrigued by and and I’ll give the reasons why first of all anytime I’m taking a three ball and it’s plus 170 I mean I would actually I would say this for tournament matchup specifically when we have three kind of big guns we’re not putting a full unit on these in fact you don’t even necessarily need to put a half unit on these this this could be like a three point4 unit play but here’s the thing let’s just go one by one here Brooks kep against John ROM I mean I think you can make the argument one way or the other who’s better in Majors or who’s better in general and if you want to make the John ROM argument that’s totally fine but if we look at what has happened since the Masters Brooks kepka has clearly been the better player that doesn’t mean John ROM’s been bad but Brooks kka really good in Singapore really good at live at of course one in Singapore ninth in Liv Adelaide and we we’ve seen that reset moment for him where he said he was embarrassed about his performance at the Masters I think all of those things do matter and I do think it’s pretty like objectively true that he’s playing better than John ROM as far as obber is concerned not a lot of major experience first of all I know he’s like kind of the new shiny toy and I totally get it he is absolutely amazing but then we also have that knee issue kind of layered on top of this on top of the fact that he doesn’t have the experience certainly not the major experience that Brooks kepo or even John have so when I look at all that and I diagnose it and I see plus 170 I’ve got the player that is in at least as good of a form as lud viberg or oberg but I also have the guy who I know is an absolute killer in major majors and who is coming in and arguably as good of a form as oook so again at plus 170 this is a tournament three ball that I’m willing to take want to thank Stewie in the chat he says hit the like button you filthy animals yeah please please do that we do please hit the like button we always appreciate that all right Patrick we waited so long it’s time for more Michael block talk Alejandro toasty that’s a that’s quite the line there at minus 225 but you feel quite confident to give that out on this program Go I mean what are we doing the dude had a hole in one he thought he could beat Rory last year this is a PGA Tour player against a PGA professional this is you you have to go you know on a trip offshore to find this one I’ll admit it but it is there at a very popular website and it’s just like what are we what are we doing here guys the skill Gap is large large the skill gap between like Scotty Sheffer and Alejandra toasty that might be the gap between toasty and Michael block to tell you the truth and people think Michael Block’s this great golfer he he’s made like five cuts in like 30 PGA Tour starts in his entire career and he’s been around a lot and so I don’t understand this one I do not understand so yeah I’m betting heavily into it and if if I get bit by block I might not be on the show next week and then we have Denny McCarthy minus 120 over Aaron Ry like I said I love Denny this week despite the uh the bad course fit Aaron Ry is not a long hitter either so we got that kind of on Level Playing Field McCarthy much better with the short game which I think this one will come down to so I will pay the minus10 that one yeah your boy Danny and I heard you give him out on early Edge on CBS Sports Network earlier today you and Mike MCL were on there so it was pretty cool to see you just say on my lunch hour turn that on I’m like hey I know that guy uh I know both those guys actually uh Joe but Joe has a comment here in the chat chat’s on fire as C it’s outstanding he says Joe says Patrick hates regular people I mean you know yeah that’s that’s I mean I’m not gonna hide it that is correct that is correct I got a couple of matchups go ahead because EC this leads in well to like anything you’re about to say because what if you parlayed that with Scotty sheffler to win the tournament like what what I think those odds turn into you know like in the plus 800 plus 850 range just throwing it out there so here here’s the play Michael block top 40 with Scotty sheffler to win I’m serious I mean you could probably get that at like 70 to one you want to turn Scotty sheffler into 70 to1 that’s how to do it no you see whatever whatever you decide to bet on that just venmo me that money and I’ll make the bet for you I think I have slightly better odds so I’ll just Keith Mitchell to win a tournament though I mean Michael block which is more likely Michael block top 40 or Keith Mitchell wins the rest of the year Keith Mitchell wins the rest of the year you your perception of Michael block is so so skewed it is it is unbelievable the chat is too good Joe says Patrick rooted for Rudy to get cut by not he didn’t deserve a SP on the team come on about this all right I got I got to just try to get it back on track here I have two uh two match ups here what is the fade Jordan spe I’m Gonna Roll with Matt Fitzpatrick minus 120 these are both from bet 365 so Jordan spe we’ve talked about his struggles ad nauseum on this program one top 10 and three top 30s in his last nine and he hasn’t finished above 29th PGA since 2019 now Matthew Fitzpatrick if he makes the cut we got this he’s going to win because when he does at the PGA he finished 5ifth in 2022 and 23rd in 2021 but the other two times in 2020 and 2023 missed Cuts so assuming he makes the cut I think at minus 120 he’s going to beat Jordan spe and then we’re gonna go with Tommy Fleetwood over Hideki Matsuyama at minus 138 so here’s the thing Tommy in his last eight Majors five top 10 pretty darn consistent Hideki in his last six Majors no top 10 and we haven’t seen him in what five weeks since the Masters something’s going on on there Patrick do you know what the injury like what are the what’s the gossip on Hideki right now yeah what does Scotty sheffler say about that Patrick thank you seea that was uh that’s exactly who I was gonna use for this uh conversation it’s just typical hii right he shows up to a tournament he’s playing the proam he’s doing stuff F I was getting blasted on Twitter by random people be like are you even at the tournament and it’s like guys I’m not on Hadi Matsuyama watch I’m not just out there track this guy for you guys um it’s like Jesus uh it’s just typical hii he’s done it his entire career where he wakes up on the wrong side of the bed his back doesn’t feel good he pulls out of the tournament but then sometimes he does play with that ailment and he wins the golf tournament like at Genesis so it’s kind of just what you get with Hadi all right see you are the DFS Master what do you do or what would you do if you had a say when a guy like keki pulls out last minute of a tournament and and lineups are locked is there anything that DFS players can do or should they be able to do in your opinion I’ll say this DFS Master is a bit of a stretch but thank you regardless um there’s nothing they can do unfortunately like that’s just the rules of of of daily fantasy is if the lineups have locked which happens right when the tournament starts once somebody withdraws it’s just kind of over and there there are reasons behind that there’s sort of like legal uh sort of gaming reasons behind that uh but it’s just kind of one of those things you have to live with I think if you’re asking in terms of like asking how does how was this remedied I don’t know that it is outside of something that probably will never happen which which would be like players or golfers self-reporting what their ailments might be kind of like doing it like the NFL where they’re probable or questionable or listing injuries I don’t know why they wouldn’t do that because it’s not like you get a competitive Advantage it’s not football where you you start aiming for that ailment right um but it just doesn’t seem like golf is in a world where even though they have partnered with all of these gaming sites and with you know obviously Sports books I think they’re incentivized to like maybe have these injury reports uh but for whatever reason we’re not getting that and we’re going to get the same issue with some of these guys withdrawing after lock refunds would you ever consider that just saying hey if you have a guy that withdraws like that before the tournament starts just you’re out of the competition you get your money back is that too much I mean the problem is it affects it’s not like you have a bet the sports book you you’re in a pool with everybody else so if you’re getting a refund that’s money that people that were in that pool were expecting to be in the pool and then now all of a sudden it’s out how many people played Hideki matama probably I think it was like 15 or 14% so 15% of the money that you thought was guaranteed in this tournament all of a sudden is refunded now we we start having a problem because you know people aren’t getting what they were expecting to get and you can make the argument hey guy Hideki of all people he withdraws all the time like that’s kind of on you now granted it’s not always a Hideki withdrawal but at the same time um unfortunately that’s just sort of the risk we’re taking Hideki withdraws all the time I mean it’s fair be careful when you put them in your DFS lineups all right finishing positions time Patrick you sit out of this one uh as you choose to uh CA you have a couple of plays here starting with benon yeah I’ll start with benon and I’ll admit like there there is a floor for Ben on that that doesn’t make me super comfortable because of that putter but but again I think the ball striking is going to get in there and I do think we’ve seen enough with the putter for me to be somewhat confident that he’s not going to be like a complete failure like he looked I mean I watched him just a few days ago at the Wells Fargo he looked pretty comfortable with the putter he was certainly dropping a lot of putts from long range which I I don’t expect that at all but I thought the pace of the putts was really good I I I think he’s kind of in a good zone right now for that so T30 at plus 12 125 I actually think Ben on can top 10 this tournament I don’t think he’s going to win but I think he can top 10 this tournament so T30 Plus 125 I do like because of the way he rates out and for the record I think step jger rates out pretty well at t40 plus 115 we know he recently won but overall the finishing positions have been pretty consistent inside the top 25 he’s doing pretty much everything well the putter can leave him but we we do see him spike in that department here and there I think more importantly he’s good off the te he’s good around the green which certainly could help him here the approach play has been a little spotty but again you have to consider what he’s doing with Spotty approach play and that’s finishing inside the top 25 like I said so top 40 in this field it’s you know it’s not going to be super easy but at plus money for both of these this is the same situation I had last week with wam Clark and Xander schof where I had them both at plus money one was even money one was one was plus 105 one was plus 165 if either of those cash I I’m winning some money in the finishing position market and that’s pretty much what I’m doing here as well I think one of these if not both are going to cash will win money yeah and I was waiting for Stephen Jer me uh men from you so I’m glad that you were able to get that in 35 minutes in I was waiting I mean that’s that’s your guy you you’ve been uh you’ve nailed Stephen jger from the start and predicted his rise so well done I wish I need to pay attention more I guess and and buy into that a year sooner so Grayson Sig 2025 that’s what Patrick says all right just remember that all right my finishing positions cam young top 20 plus 190 now I got these all on DraftKings MGM did not have their lines up when I did this uh five top 10 last eight Majors similar to Tommy Fleetwood uh since Pebble Beach in early February he has four top 10 and five top 20s in nine tournaments he is kind of Boomer bust but at plus 190 a guy that’s really good in Majors yeah I’m good with that my guy mean dean burmaster I don’t know if anybody calls him that but I am top 30 plus 190 he one live Miami he’s gained Strokes off the te in every event he’s played in the season and he’s an above average putter six top 15s in eight tournaments this season well he needs to top top 30 I think he can do it and how about Harris English top 40s in seven of his last eight tournaments and so the thing about Valhalla is the PGA of America is trying to set this up similar to a US Open course in that the winner ideally in their uh in their realm won’t go above uh a minus 10 or won’t you know won’t go lower than minus 10 he has three top 10 in his last four us opens English does and so that’s exactly what they’re trying to do now is PGA Championship history not great but I’m gonna Overlook that and for a top 40 at plus 140 yeah I can get behind that now I wasn’t able to get these bets in yet yet at B Xander did nothing in the final round he’s had to be added to this list now Shane Lowry that’s that’s garbage uh that well I’m not gonna harp on that anymore Scotty shord probably one of the stupidest things that I’ve said on this program and that’s a long list uh that might be number one putting him on this Auto fade list so now that we got a look at that uh I don’t believe I am picking any of these players to win outright but Patrick uh you aren’t either so okay let’s let’s hear with why Bryson to Shambo why are you starting with him yeah there’s probably like I don’t know I I look at the state of golf right now and I it’s like I think 10 guys can win a major championship so like something around that right if everything falls for them some things have to fall more for others than a Scotty shuffler for example brys D Shambo is certainly one of those and he’s not going to get a better course fit in a better situation than this week in a very long time a long wet golf course with thick rough that screams Bryson to Shambo to me of course where your short game skill it’s going to kind of level out because these guys are all going to be hitting the same shots over and over again it’s going to be hit your driver see how far you can hit it out there hit a mid iron see how close you can hit it if you miss the green guess what you’re chipping From the Rough over and over again and Bryson has shown those type of golf courses he can do some damage on so I will go in on him at 30 I liked walk nean at 40 to1 as well uh for all the reasons I outlined for the first round leader Department he’s very long off the te sneaky sneaky long off the tea not to quote uh the Butler from Mr Deeds but uh he’s got all the skill in the world and so I’m going to get in on 40 then Windam Clark really bad last week all four rounds over par but he is one of those guys one of those 10 who I think can win a major championship I mean he did just last year so I’m gonna buy in on him it’s a good fit for him too very long off the tea a very good putter the iron play has been not Stellar as of late but we know he can get it going so I will go in at wendam Clark as well now if you notice the it you have him at plus 5300 C you have him at plus 3500 no no that that’s that’s that’s just their transposed right that’s 3500 right okay oh no no it’s it’s literally his odds have have dropped I saw yeah he’s gotten longer yeah you you got him at 5,300 yes okay that’s interesting I because I I bet wind him over the weekend at plus 3600 and now I mean his number after that kind of disaster at at Quail Hollow I mean that’s a that’s a heck of a number plus 5300 people don’t like to bet wendam I they don’t you guy’s the number three player in the world I don’t like to bet him see why do you like him this week yeah that’s interesting I mean I I got to search these books now and make sure by the way the toasty match up Patrick was that bet 365 no that was uh you got to go to bodog for okay gotcha gotcha gotcha okay um well listen so Windham Clark we we talk about it like who can actually if we’re playing this straight up in the outright Department who are the who’s the list of guys that can actually beat Scotty on Sunday Xander’s not one of them we’ve already established that uh I mean obviously Brooks kka is one of them there’s a handful of guys that are one of them and Windam Clark has played toe-to-toe with Scotty just this year I mean he he had a couple of second place finishes a third place finish at Signature Events wiam Clark is that dude and I think people listen he wasn’t good last week and people want to bring has actually he actually hasn’t been very good for for a few tournaments now but people want to bring up his PGA Championship history but like okay 2023 he missed the cut you know different course but like I get that part but like 2021 Windham Clark was not the 2024 2023 Windham Clark so I think he rates out really well I think if the irons are there and we know he’s good off the te we know he can be very dialed in with the short game if the irons are there I think wam Clark is great and on this course which could end end up being a bom and gouge Affair uh car distance is great but ball speed even better like he rates out really well there too this is one of those guys that kind of like havin last week where I had him and that certainly crashed and burned if either of those guys are in contention on Sunday I think they can close and in this case in particular if Wham Clark is in contention on Sunday I think he can close so at 35 to1 or even longer 53 to1 is like shocking to me actually so I I’ll try to find a better number than what I’ve already bet because I’ve already bet this on DraftKings uh but yeah I think winham Clark is one of those handful of people that if he’s there on Sunday we can be confident that he can actually close as far as the other markets like I said at the beginning of the show winner without Scotty Sheffer I put in my article my preliminary article which is out that I I took Brooks kep at plus 1400 and I do like that uh and and it’s a it’s a fine bet but if I can take Scotty out and only lose two points I’m actually okay doing that as well so you can play that either way you want Windam Clark that’s a straight up bet the Brooks kka plus 1400 plus 12200 the plus 1600 s are largely gone but EC if if you think we can still find that obviously let us know but I think Brooks at plus 1400 or 1,200 without Scotty makes sense and then here’s the big one benon well he can’t win this tournament I think that’s true but if you take out Scotty Rory and Brooks and for some reason Xander on this list been on at plus 4,000 is a betable number what is he with with all these guys in play I think it’s like plus 6,000 or plus 7,000 but if I take all of those guys out I you think Ben on and he’s just showed it to us last week if the putter is there I think he’s a great course fit um at plus 4,000 I like him again this is winner without Scotty Roy Brooks and Xander on B mgmc Brooks kepka is still at plus 1600 uh Xander plus 1400 so hey you know what to do with that I I’d say Brooks at this one the last time he played in the major directly after a live win was in April 2023 when he finished uh T2 at the Masters behind John ROM I expect him to play well again this week as we have discussed I know ludvig’s knee is an issue and whatnot but in his last four tournaments combined he’s gained 35 shots ball striking that is unreal that’s that’s Sheffer es he has three top 10 and a T14 in that time including a solo second at Augusta if Scotty’s off this week yeah ludvig if the knee’s okay plus 1800 yeah I’ll take a shot there andwae nean we’ve talked about him I think I plus 4,000 for a guy that’s a top 10 golfer in the world uh I know that the official World Golf frankings don’t include Liv and therefore they don’t include uh Walken basically he’s dropped Like a Rock he’s played in 10 events he has eight top 10s and two wins uh in 2024 that’s enough for me at this number and of course if you want to bet Scotty sheffler all you have to do is bet him to win and Michael block to finish top 40 and you’ll get him at like 75 to one can’t get the number for you right now because it’s not up DK is usually the place to do that it’s a Patrick special if anybody wants to partake of that which I might you know just think about that no hey real quick um Josh Lucero thank you for pointing this out so uh I mean obviously Patrick you’re right this this line has grown since last night so he’s 45 to1 right now at FanDuel I noticed on B MGM he’s 40 to1 I think at DraftKings he’s still in like a 30ish range but I could be wrong about that but yeah that that number is growing and for the record I do want people to understand this FanDuel is the book that’s offering the without Scotty odds or the without Scotty Rory Brooks and Xander odds but I did notice last time we had this this set of odds with without Scotty and and potentially others it took some books a little bit of time to put that market out I’m pretty sure DraftKings actually waited until Wednesday to present that market so if you don’t have FanDuel if you’re not betting on FanDuel um it’s possible that that market will show up on DraftKings or B MGM or Caesars it just hasn’t yet because it’s only a Monday and remember the PGA Championship a couple years ago Phil nichelson was what 300 to1 400 to1 to win at kiaa anyone listen Michael block plus you know 12250 to God Phil Mickelson and Michael block now you really let’s move on to walk shots category we’re doing this I can promise you Michael block is not on this list but guess who is our old buddy that we haven’t talked about Will zalatoris Patrick 100 to one for our buddy will who shows up in Majors I I bet him at the start of the year to finished top 20 in all four majors he did that at Augusta I hope he can find a way here but at 100 to one that seems like pretty darn good value yeah that there’s 80 and I see a 96 still out there uh at a bookmaker if you want to get involved so will zat torus 100 to1 the 80 to finish at Quail Hollow doesn’t exude confidence the WD from the CJ cup Byron Nelson doesn’t exude confidence but you look at will zot Taurus’s major championship resume 10 as a pro seven top to 10 finishes three of which are second place finishes including the 2022 PGA Championship he lost in a playoff this is a guy who knows how to play major championship golf not everyone can say that he knows what it takes to get himself into the mix he has shown me enough so far this year API Genesis the Masters like you said EC and so I think we’re getting a guy who is going to eventually win a major championship at a very long price and I’m willing to suggest suggest maybe he can do it this week you know what in a in a tournament that’s not going to be a birdie Fest yeah I can get behind it 100 to1 that’s a great number all right seea we couldn’t go another moment in the show without another Stephen joerger mention but this is a very Savvy bet as well so how are you playing Stephen here uh by the way I I love Japan in the chat who’s like obviously the everybody in the chat you guys are obviously great Kelsey I see you gu I see you and Kelsey uh you’re the name of my favorite actor Kelsey Grammer favorite show Frasier uh but Japan says G guo is winning with three exclamation points and I know he’s been kind of fous because he says that in the chat every single time I just like long iron game a little bit uh The Potter’s obviously GNA have to be working but at 90 to one taking out the big three in Xander a pretty big fan of that I think you can do that with a lot of guys there’s a lot of guys in this range that I think at least have some upside uh SI theala is one of those but his his odds without those four guys is going to be more like in the 45 to 50 to one range I Wednesday actually and somebody uh asked about Colin morawa in a matchup and I said actually Colin’s pretty good in first rounds at least lately so I I I would avoid like targeting him in a matchup but the long and short of it is I think morawa I like him in the first round leader Market as a possibility I don’t love him for this tournament I think he’s fine but I don’t think he’s got outright potential this week Patrick a guy whose odds sunk worse than I’m not gonna make the analogy this week Patrick Klay now plus 4500 buying or selling Patrick KL this week I am buying a very sneaky T12 finish all right and see you last one for you a guy that has won major championships he’s won earlier this season and he’s plus nine ,000 Dustin Johnson plus 9,000 Dustin Johnson where have G 90 to one now 90 to one wow um yeah I I don’t think he has a shot to win I mean I’m not breaking any news he’s 90 to one I’m I’m shocked that number is 90 to1 it’s it’s just striking to me uh but yeah he’s a fade I’m not playing him in DFS either and I noticed Kelsey likes uh he says he likes Jordan Speed I am starting to become like very worried about that wrist injury in terms of How It’s affecting his play dayto day uh he’ll be a fade candidate for me I’ll probably be targeting him in matchups all right one more for you Patrick Adam Scott 120 to1 come on next question I’m all in see anyone else that you were all in on that you might not have included I mean we’ we’ve covered uh half the field but the players that we didn’t talk about anybody that comes to mind I know you’ll give out picks on early Edge over the next few days uh anything else that you know final words for us other than my BL no I mean I’m trying to think of some guys that we haven’t talked about like Cory Connor I think is interesting as kind of maybe a steady presence in your DFS lineups or maybe in the maybe somebody did talk about him is is he in the top 40 of somebody’s play I can’t remember but I think Cory Connors is a decent play um somebody I might be looking to Target as a like supporting him in matchups if you will um other than that I’m not going to be on Hideki I’m GNA be looking to fade Cameron Smith uh I think Terrell Hatton is interesting I think Doug gim at 5500 in DFS is interesting I’m just going to throw that out there and I mentioned uh siah theala uh I I also think he has some a pretty major
