you know we’ve been talking about it I think the Falcons are are are sick and tired of this conversation they’re sick and tired of this conversation they started it well they’re the ones who drafted a rookie eighth overall after signing Kirk Cousins to a monster contract you heard earlier on the show Tom piseri Tom pisero walking you through the finance the finances this 67 million this year 90 million over the first two years of Arthur Blank dollars okay and so meanwhile Michael penck arguably one of the most Pro ready quarterbacks available in this year’s draft is just going to be chilling have not heard from Kirk Cousins sit down interview yet guess who got him with the scoop the boys the boys busing with the boys pod Will Compton and Taylor lean sitting down with Kirk Cousins and got this sound bite you’re reminded again that you there are things you control and there’s a lot of things you don’t control and so let’s deal in reality you know and recognize that fact and then be a steward not an owner so I just believe that I got to Steward what comes my way and control what I can control which what a steward does but a steward doesn’t worry about that which they can’t control yeah an owner does an owner would be like oh my goodness so I just got to Steward this um and and just just you know do kind of what I’ve always done as a player and let the chips fall where they may so it’s fair to say kirkut as the Falcons there’s no there’s no beef involved no I don’t think there can be I don’t think it’s help helpful like we’re trying to win a Super Bowl and it’s hard enough like you know what I mean like it’s hard enough so let’s let’s all be on the same page and let’s try to go into Super Bowl boy the Falcons are lucky if that is the way he truly does approach it that he’s just like I I there’s there’s no sense in the and dwelling in the negative and it’s a negative there’s just no other way to put it the guy thought he was going to be there forever and he’s throwing out pitches at the Braves games and stuff like that and trying to become a member of the community and then all of a sudden it’s just like yeah we’re already looking over the steering wheel on you although uh there’s a way to cushion the blow and that’s $90 million over the next two years it’s not bad not bad now in terms of cushioning a blow if I just may for a moment jump out of this narrative for a second here did that look like a bust to you no that look they were at the Falcon facility right so they went to him right so they do podcasts with guests where the guests are interesting yeah uh it appears so that all they need all they need is a couple cameras couple mics two some folding chairs and all and and you’re busing with the boys boom podcast although I don’t believe Kirk ever called them out for not having a motor on their bus routinely which is I believe the be that as it may yeah all right Raheem Morris spoke today and had this to say about the the dynamic cuz it’s on him this is his locker room to hold together and to lead and to mold and to make sure if there’s any there there despite what cousins just said to the boys he needs to address it this is what he had to say about Pen’s relationship with cousins I think the oldness really uh belongs to Michael when it comes to those things Kirk trying to win a Super Bowl right Kurt is in full-blown preparation mode to set the Atlanta Falcons up for the best success today can possibly have and I think you get no better um person to sit behind than a Kurt Cousins type of guy and and obviously they’re probably better arguably on other people’s teams but I’m talking about the one on our team right and I just think it’s it’s a great experience for Michael and I think he’ll learn a lot from watching him move and move in silence with this guys and and he’ll he’ll learn on the run because really it’s the the the empathy and the humility of Michael that’s going to come out more when it comes to learning those type of things and I think that’s the most important part of it all you know like everybody wants to make Kurt you know have to tell him what to do but really he’s shown him what to do by his everyday movements and his actions so here’s my two cents and I I love rahee Morris I I do and I I I I hate sitting here and constantly scratch my head over it but yes you’re saying Kirk is there to win a Super Bowl so why do you need to have somebody there you know watching him like if he’s there to win a Super Bowl and that’s it and it’s on Michael to figure out how to mature and grow then why have anybody there at all who’s in that position if in any way shape or form that’s uh a quarterback that needs to focus on the ultimate task at hand and you’re paying him handsomely for it it just makes no sense to have this dynamic because then when your quarterback does speak to the media for the first time outside of the non-bus busing he has to answer questions like this yeah no it Mike’s been great it’s uh um you know always going to be competition in this league and you always got to you know go out and earn it and uh um you know I’m going to control what I can control and also understand there’s a lot you don’t control and um you know I learned a long time ago that you got to focus on what you can control when the Falcons were recording you um if they would have told you then that they were going to take a pick quarterback at eight would you have signed I don’t really deal in hyp pathetical you know we could go down that path for a long time in a lot of ways it just doesn’t do us any good so uh uh you know I’m I’m excited for this opportunity I have I think it’s a real privilege to be a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons and I’m trying to make good on the opportunity they’ve given me uh with the way I work each day and the way we play this fall the quarterback room is a working force for one another and that’s never not been the case so we’re all in there as a working force together to help each other and uh that Dynamic has always been there and always will be there what were they really thinking I’m not going to go down this road because we could go down this roong for long but hell no or pardon me heck no yeah I wouldn’t have signed here and that’s the point ultimately the Falcons are lucky that they have Kirk Cousins for this situation it’s just mystifying that they put him in this situation to find out just how lucky they are meanwhile penx is in a tough spot himself catch the rich eyes and show every single day on the Roku Channel 12 to 3 Eastern for free

  1. What is it about a 36 year old Quarterback coming off of a serious injury, do you not understand? 95% of QBs are cooked by the age of 38.

  2. It's funny how most of the talking heads want this to blow up in the Falcons face, so they can say, "I told you so!" It's like this talking heads are saying, Atlanta can have a GM long as he pick the players we want him to pick.

  3. If Kirk wasn't so dumb to admit tampering losing Falcons Draft picks maybe things would have played out differently. Not considering his age and previous injury that doesn't guarantee his success… he should shut his mouth and stop tampering his thoughts…

  4. Kurt Cousins is a young future Hall of Famer big time playoff winning championship Superbowl winning QB. He's like surgeon on the field, after he leaves the falcons im sure he'll get another big time payday!

  5. As a 50 year Vikings fan, GOOD RIDDANCE”! The reality is that KC pocketed over 180 million dollars from the Vikings and only won one playoff game in 6 years despite the team devoting more and more resources to the offensive side of the ball to try to get more out of KC. KC held the team hostage with his contract while the team was perpetually in cap purgatory. Much like Justin Fields, KC was a one dimensional QB who wasn’t capable of putting the team on his back and using his feet to extend drives or to raise the level of play around him and I would argue that he always had a ton of playmakers that raised his play. He was more concerned with his health and his bank account.

  6. Jesus Rich give it a rest. No one wants this to be a bigger deal than you and the media. The man got another BAG and guess what. penix will be the second best qb to come out of that draft. Bye, move on, think of another story

  7. If they would have if drafted the over rated JJ. You middle age white folks would be saying smart move. By the Falcons

  8. This man has nothing else to talk about. Now he is making it out like Falcons took the #1 pick.

  9. STOP WITH THE 'THROWING OUT PITCHES' BS 'AT THE BRAVES GAME' BS holy crap no one cares about any first pitch ever except George W. Bush

  10. Jesus…this is the NFL… People make decisions they believe will best benefit the team… And the athletes are grown men. Why do we continuously have to "oh poor Kirk" or "oh poor Penix"… They will be FINE… Kirk is an outstanding quarterback who is equipped to win now. The roster, even without Dallas Turner, is equipped to win now… And when Kirk decides to retire…Penix is equipped to step in and continue to win…..

  11. Maybe they're worried Cousins might get hurt again…..that's entirely possible. Although, if they are REALLY going to try to win a Super Bowl, you'd probably want someone behind him that's won pressure games, in case something does happen to Cousins. That would be an interesting landing spot for Brady…if something happens end-of-season….would they call Matt Ryan or are they seriously saying Penix is their security blanket?

  12. Matt Ryan (a former Falcons NFL MVP) just retired after not playing anywhere for a year at 38… Meanwhile Rich, with Cousins at 36 coming off a torn achilles… 'I hate sitting here and constantly scratch my head over it '

  13. Atlanta fans, we are not laughing at you. I think Penix was a GREAT idea. Atlanta did the right thing.
I am enjoying this simply because Kirk thought he could waltz into Atlanta and have a comfy 4 years 180 mil. Dude was opening Braves games, Mr. Atlanta, acting like he lived there his whole life, the whole deal.
But Penix is legit, and I will be shocked if Kirk lasts more than 2 years there, especially because his contract is so front-loaded. He'll get his money but unless he balls out and gets to a SB, he better keep his real estate agent in his contacts.
Kohls boy finally getting knocked down a peg lol.

  14. For someone who’s been around the game as long as Rich, it’s baffling he’s still talking about this pick like it was inexcusable. Rich did you forget what literally just happened with the Jets going all in on an old QB and it all crumbling in their faces? Too bad the Jets didn’t have a guy like Penix to come in after your old QB got injured…..

  15. They do need a good backup in case Cousins gets hurt. Penix could be the backup. I see no problem here unless cousins stinks or gets hurt.

  16. Any time the falcons lose a game or even win a game with a mid performance from Kirk the media will hound both him and the coach about Penix.

  17. I think your making to much about this, if he plays well he has nothing to worry about. Remember NE drafted Jimmy G when they had the GOAT. How did that work out? Wining is all that matters. They are simply planning for the future and does anyone actually think their winning a SB with Cousins?

  18. For Rich to be this focused on the Falcons decision after coming off The Jets season is interesting. I'd thought Rich would understand..

  19. Has rich not watched a single falcons game the last two years? Quarterback play has been god awful for us, why do you need a good backup? Because suffering through watching Mariota, ridder and heinicke has been torture

  20. Rich, do us all a favor and just repost your first initial take on the Falcons drafting Penix. That way I don't have to waste my time hearing the same head scratching comment over and over and over again. If you quit scratching your head over this maybe you'd have some hair up too to keep your mind on something else. Lol😊. Seriously we get it. It's starting to get old. Add a new wrinkle or move along.

  21. I think the bigger question is why does Rich NEED to understand the situation so badly ya know. Like every time I see him talk about he really seems so perplexed as if it’s on him to solve the why.

  22. Well said by Coach Morris.👍 I'm not a Falcons fan, but I've always liked them. I always would've thought it WAS the vets job to tutor the young star….but the way he put it, about putting it on the young guy, cuz the other guys trying to win a Super Bowl. Can't argue with that logic. Well said.
