Zurich Classic Recap, Big Announcements, and Changes Coming!

oh my goodness in your life have you seen anything like that they’re going to go nuts when he hits this thing in and now it comes down to one five for the win is it his time yes all right here we are we did it we did not play the theme song twice on accident like we did the last time with lousy hair uh this is the great bogey podcast uh this is our first episode with three people um and that leads me to my big announcement that you may see the title lousy hair and Justin Lair have decided to come on to the team fulltime they quit their jobs and we’re just we’re just running with this thing here just gonna pound out content just content after content starting toight with that I want to let you guys know that there’s going to be some creative changes down the road we’re having a a think tank session later on this evening we’re filming on Sunday night it’s past Teddy’s bedtime he’s not happy about about it but he is committed so with that uh yeah it’s going to be us three moving forward Justin is uh you know living in the past right now he’s three hours behind Teddy Teddy’s Hang On by Teddy’s Hanging On by a thread right here so um with that we’re gonna talk about Liv Adelaide today the Zurich Classic Zurich not Zurich and to to kick things off you know I think I’ve made my stance on the two tours pretty clear over the over the few episodes we’ve done but I want to get Teddy and I want to get Justin’s take when it comes to live golf vers PGA Tour and just that whole scenario in general before we get into the tournaments played today so I’ll let you guys wrestle over words here who’s going first but yeah let’s hear it Justin you can why don’t you go first uh so Liv for me like I love the idea of it the team thing made absolutely no sense to me until I went to an event okay I like like I like that team aspect I mean I think like well I know Teddy you and I played um competitive golf in high school and stuff so it’s like playing with a team is kind of cool like I think that’s fun that’s something that I missed um you don’t get to see it other places so it’s kind of cool to see that so it’s not just like Ridder cup um but I just I’m so tired of the fighting that’s my big thing like I’m just like I’m tired of hearing like ROM say oh we’re going 72 holes we need our world rankings it’s like dude you guys made your decision and you said like we’re taking the money which all of us would no one even cares just say I’m taking the money peace out PGA Tour because I want you know $600 million but like there’s repercussions to that right and I I mean I’ll be honest I probably watched I probably didn’t watch more of Liv this week because I cannot stand the CW and the audio dude like billion dollar company figure out your audio please because I would actually enjoy it if I didn’t have to listen to like too low of music or too high of music you know what I mean like just figure it out so the commentators can talk yeah with with the open forum and like space that a golf course is it’s probably one of the harder things to like Master right is the different microphones and mixing around the holes with music and even their cameras like my daughter and I were literally sitting there watching I’m like oh my gosh what in the hell why is it not focused and out of focus like I don’t know it made me appreciate like Golf Channel and um I think it’s what like NBC or whatever it is that usually has most of the golf events like it made me appreciate how well they like focus on the golf ball on like just the quality of production that they have yeah I mean I think the the players have already complained about the music and everything as well I think it’s kind of I don’t know if it’s kind of split equally or not but you’ve had some of them complain about the noise as well where on holes like one through six it’s super loud and then they stop hearing it and then it just kind of fil throughout the course it’s a little bit different than probably what they were expecting where it was going to feel more like a casual round where you have a you know a speaker on the cart and you’re just kind of playing some music as you’re playing along so I think they’re kind of adjusting to that as well yeah well I gotta ask that too like are all three are we all in favor of speakers on golf bags or is someone against it no I’m all for it against it yeah I I typically am not like the one bring a speaker to a golf course yeah but now nowadays the carts themselves have the Bluetooth capability you know with a speaker then you have the GPS and everything and I’m like I connect to that right away like yeah we’re listening to some music like why not that way if it’s set up like that too like you can keep it low enough to where you guys hear it just fine but maybe your other playing Partners don’t yeah it also depends where you’re playing but if you’re out a public course like yeah dude music’s great I just put a speaker on my back cuz like I always walk so just push the card around always got music on to some extent um but I don’t know with Liv like I we went to the I talked about this last time we went to the one up in uh punkin Ridge cool event like when we showed up it was super welcoming with like food trucks everywhere and they had kid stuff going on everywhere and there was music and it was like oh this is a Cool vibe like I could be here I mean it got like my daughter interested in it she was like oh this is going be fun you know um it’s not like kind of the stuffiness of a normal PGA Tour event I think you know you saw tons of kids and tons of families at the live event um instead of just like all three of us walking around at a PGA Tour event so but I also think like with Liv I’m their players are starting to get better man there like I was looking at the roster for this week’s tournament and I was like damn a lot of these players like I actually want to watch MH compared to the Zurich you know that’s probably the only thing that kind of gravitated me towards that it seems like and Teddy I guess we’ll kick it back to you actually because we we talked about the music players where where do you stand when it comes to live PGA Tour in general I mean I just don’t think there’s there’s enough room for both I mean I have a hard time watching most events outside of like the majors and some the elevated ones yeah um you know unless I you know get a ESPN update or something and I can see like you know it’s getting kind of close as you know groups are making the back nine or something um so I am I’m not necessarily against live I’m just against them having two competing products at the same time right um I also can’t keep up with the Liv I’ve tried watching like a couple events it just makes no sense to me with the whole team aspect it’s so difficult to follow the way they have it broken out on the screen yeah so they have they have the leaderboard of the single players and then the teams right underneath it yeah right uh and I also I mean and it could be just because I’m not following it consistently on a tournament to tournament basis but I also like if they show Ram like I don’t know who else is on his team like I If You’re trying to pull for a specific player it’s a little difficult to do when you know their fourth teammate is like six over on the day and just is blowing it um so yeah it’s to me it’s just it’s a little much uh it’s a little difficult to follow I’d rather them all just be in in one place again um just for the fan at least but you know I don’t I don’t really care either way whichever one succeeds I just want all the good players to be playing in one tournament yeah yeah that makes a lot of sense I uh when Liv first came around and like you know I tried watching I’m like this is just terrible production like like yeah like I don’t even want to even try the audio so bad and the players weren’t even really like that interesting to me at that time like when they moved you know Brooks Bryson it’s like okay like I’m not going to miss like maybe not watching you on a Sunday like there’s plenty of other people but I mean I was a big John ROM fan and when he went I’m like all right like Liv’s not going anywhere and they’re they’re taking the biggest player in the world right now this is right before you know right after he won the Masters like yeah yeah um but after watching live Adelaide like another thing too is like all these players were talking about well they don’t have to play as much and they’re not traveling as much like like 10 out of 12 tournaments are in like another country or other side of the world like you’re traveling even more to go to these tournaments so is that is that like a A plus though because now golf is more like International because the PJ tour is I mean State side for the most part right so is that a is that a good or a bad thing you know it doesn’t seem like more countries who weren’t into Gulf are getting into golf because live exist fact yeah the Asian countries already played tons of golf they have their own tour you know yeah uh Australia already played golf the PGA Tour hadn’t been there in a while right so they’re excited to have some sort of event there but Liv Adelaide is just Liv’s Waste Management that’s all it is true yeah yeah they got the watering hole the par three listen you know as many of you know I walked the 16th hole at the waste management open this year count it count it Teddy he’s officially announced he spend to waste management every podcast that we’ve nothing that I saw on the live broadcast compares to that setup on that ho itself let alone even the grand stands around the entire course yeah it’s like it just seemed like Liv you know the Liv bot as Rory would call them kind of like think Liv is doing this new thing with that hole and with that tournament it’s just not the case um but I agree with you well at least for this one there was more people in attendance right like I feel like every other one it’s marginal at best you might have like a decent following for like one of the Marquee groups yeah but at least you know everything that was as far as coming out on social media for for this recent one I mean it looked packed so you know at least they’re moving in the right Direction with that from round one to round three like the end of round three it was it was Jam back there’s a lot of people there yeah which I mean I do agree with the team thing because I don’t know I don’t know who’s on what team like I was like oh yeah cam Smith is rippers but I have no idea my next question if you can name more than one team member on a on a certain team the only one I would know would be like smash just because I know it’s Kea and gu yeah but I mean I’m looking at them right now and I’m like oh yeah McDon McDow totally forgot he went over and the only reason I know range goats is because it was kind of funny to watch that offseason trade which was like well okay they’re trading people now so now I have to actually follow this in the off season what the no I’m not okay this is weird I mean even my daughter said she’s like these are the dumbest names ever like highflyer Dad like what was it I’m like well it’s better than Niblick or whatever the hell it was before right is it ROM’s theme Legion just like leg leg Yeah Legion 13 which whatever the cleaks my personal favorite iron heads iron heads like really everybody knows about the aces right yeah the poor that’s Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson is a DJ yeah yeah Perez Pat Perez which he finally had a good tournament and then you got Varner I mean we do have to kind of talk about you like the whole AK thing AK got dead last yet again he he he played well the first two rounds and then he went plus seven on the last round like he just pooped down his leg on on Sunday what if they turn it into 36 holes going forward you want you think they should shorten it to two rounds this a Saturday and Sunday that’s it these guys can travel even less I mean that that wouldn’t be good I don’t think no well and I mean the big argument right now is the no official world ranking right so they’ve got to go to 72 if they want that isn’t that like the only way that they make that happen now I mean if they shortened it Taylor G would probably win every event going forward right isn’t that the yeah we gota we gotta mention the Zurich has an asterisk next to it because to co is not in the field yeah Astra yeah don’t forget that put it in the record books Rory and Shane la asterisk I’m updating their Wikipedia page right good job your your boy Rah though did finish uh what tied for tied for third with Charles schwarzel haven’t heard of that name in all yeah so Ram went went pretty low on Saturday day two um to put himself in the mix I think he went like four under then like seven or eight under to start Sunday like pretty much like in the top five yeah he went five and three three and then went eight on round three like so he oh that’s right yeah he went low first one and then yeah he started off I think he was like six out of seven first holes he had birdies I mean we’ve got another major coming up and Brooks was 14 under but that gave him a tie for ninth is he getting in form nah he’s not playing enough golf these guys they have to play more golf like it’s the same argument if you ask me it’s the same argument with Tiger Woods like you have to play as much golf as possible to be top form right that that is very very true yeah and don’t get me wrong like Brooks Brooks won a major right after he went to live he’s the only one to do so he is yeah yeah I don’t necessarily think I mean it’s still competitive rounds that they’re playing I mean to me I think that’s enough um some of those guys especially Brooks right like he doesn’t really need to he one he doesn’t need to play in a 72 whole event just to get the feeling of like a major championship I think he’s going to pyck himself up pretty easily for you know a major especially at this point he’s made that pretty clear um so I mean I would probably put some jingle on him coming up um you know at least well he’s also PGA twice three times yeah I mean I mean how do you how do you not like say oh there’s a chance like there’s always a chance when you’re showing up I mean I mean I think these guys are gonna tear up Val Hollow too right like I mean it’s G we’re going to be what 15 16 17 under on Sunday I don’t know I haven’t uh scouted the course yet I’ll be I I want to say they’re like 15 under when they were there last there’s only one live event before ball and it’s May 3rd through the 5th in Singapore yeah and and don’t get me wrong like these guys still play golf like every day like they’re swinging and like well yeah yeah but the competition I don’t I don’t know man you gota play You Gotta Be You gota be playing and you gota be playing consistently and competitively if you ask me somebody who’s somebody who does neither of those so that pot cutle black yeah live live Houston is June 7th so they literally go a month and then they’ve got the end of the month in Nashville which is kind of interesting to see him stay in state side for two of them so I want to make sure can you guys see comments I don’t see any comments maybe they’re just not interacting but I don’t see any comments yet that’s all right we’ve only had about five six viewers that’s make sure not miss speaking of speaking of PJ tour that’s probably perfect to go into the Zurich yeah segue on over to the solo team event on the PGA tour now yeah I mean we’re we’re going from Team event to team event which is kind of interesting I mean what were your thoughts on the team event for PJ tour yeah I mean I think it’s weird I don’t know I couldn’t get into it that much I probably would have been more invested if like maybe we would have played when we were in New Orleans go play that course and that’s what I said I said that to my wife I’m like why did Cam and I not actually just yeah go a day early it also cost $300 to play so they were proud of that man 299 around which that would have been kind of cool I think that’s most TPC courses though yeah TPC they’re they’re not cheap I mean yeah that’s that’s right on par with uh TBC Colorado up north here is it’s like 400 bucks I think yeah TBC Vegas which is a great course like it’s always in great condition it’s tough like it’s like a million yards long because they do have corn fairy events there um I don’t play those T Boxes by any means but um yeah I I thought you know I be more invested I did like that Rory was in there uh they could get they could use more top players playing uh but I get why they don’t um it was an exciting finish today uh trainer uh pushed that putt like me that was a terrible Putt in the playoff I don’t know if you guys saw that whoa whoa whoa whoa what was worse the putt or the chip yeah I do both those things on a regular basis did you see the chip like he had well like a 50 yard pitch shot into the into the hole Yeah left it 25 yards short flubbed it oh was it was absolutely brutal but John Wesley Robinson would say he hit it fat that’s uh that that’s part of it though like look at the look at the leaderboard like obviously we know Lowry and melroy but Ry trainer I don’t have no idea who they actuallyy right yeah and then um brem and hubard I know hubard just because he’s the guy that uses a super short putter right like he’s been doing that like he’s like quasi Modo over yeah and then higo the only reason I know him is because he’s a lefty otherwise I probably wouldn’t even know the guy because I don’t know his partner I mean there’s very few teams on this where I’m like oh yeah yeah I can follow that that’s kind of well I think too a lot of good teams like the had some players didn’t make the cutter were just totally out of it like U yeah Z zorus and theala probably one of the ones worth watching beginning but totally nothing happened with him the hogard brothers because um rasmith had a lot on the line you know he’s been trying to get on the tour with his brother and they didn’t make the cut yeah I don’t know like the the teams were a little lackluster I mean it makes sense Rory and Shane ended up winning because they’re probably two of the best you know players and long-term players inwa is there somewhere but he just that’s right morawa and kyama right yep yeah but look at look at like Chad Ry someone who I’ve honestly never heard of uh world ranking 233rd like of course no TV on there but he’s been Pro for what he joined tour in 2022 he’s already made $3 million that’s kind of cool um he’s got one win which is probably most of that and three top 10 finishes so I mean he’s got something there and then his partner Martin trainer he’s from France University of Southern California been around for a minute yeah he’s he’s been like a fringe player though ever since like yeah always trying to get that leap I saw somewhere on Twitter I think it was one of the nlu guys posted this guy hasn’t even like on since he’s been on tour he has not played he’s played below average the entire time he’s played 136 events can you imagine playing 136 golf tournaments in years or six years that’s crazy he’s only made 38 Cuts so that’s probably why but I mean he still got $2 million of earnings cool way get a little better yeah you just gotta get a little better at golf so I can go not make any Cuts still make yeah but it’s just funny to see that and when I when I read that stat it was from day to golf they they shared it from day to golf which I think is making a push to be like the ACT actual golf data Hub right where we’re getting statistics and everything um like five minutes after that was like when I saw him just completely push that playoff putt four feet four feet to the right yeah that was pain like that makes a lot of sense that makes a lot as soon as he hit it as soon as he hit it he’s like yeah this is nowhere near the hole Yeah and the I mean the best part the smirk from Rory like the look that Rory and gave each other it was like what the what the hell was this like oh [ __ ] we’re on camera too we better be nice yeah oh my gosh can you believe they actually did that it was kind of we just won this playoff hole on a par five with a par okay yeah great interesting great yeah I mean Larry Larry looked like he was in alternate shot was definitely not playing well he wasn’t putting well he I mean he missed some small putts on uh well every day he missed a couple small putts so if he had that three four-footer he might have done the same thing mhm daddy thoughts on on the team aspect I don’t really mind it too much I don’t love switching between like best ball alternate shot best like I’d rather either do four completely different um setups and then maybe like the last day do best ball or something um what what other like um like modes could they do so there’s like the best ball the forom and and the alternate shot like what else would be an option I mean you could I I wonder both hit one off the te and then take the best ball from there right yeah I wonder if that could work or not uh with those guys I don’t know um I mean but so in the rider you know they’ll do like a single day as well um you know you could do that just combine them right um you know I got to make a mental note because I want to bring something up when we talk about live but carry on okay um you know maybe you could save that for like Sunday and just kind of close it out like that um I like when they do an event sort of like this it just I mean like Justin was saying before I mean with some of the bigger names missing the cut just kind of takes takes the wind out of the sailes a little bit um so I mean at least it was nice to see Rory and Shane Lowry play well um I kind of wish Lowry played better last week at the RBC um but you know can’t win them all yeah hey Shane if you’re hearing this Teddy put some some jangle on last week and you let him down I get back to him Teddy you never know I’m looking at the leaderboard and I’m actually surprised by this because I mean I think we all know Zack Blair just because more out of like the club the butt Club yeah rather than golf like I don’t even know what he’s done in golf I just know what he does on those things that would have been both those guys first win I believe on tour if they would have closed it out well I mean you you’ve got um ekro that was there you’ve got the Fitzpatrick Brothers which I mean they were 20 under and they were tied for 11th Hoffman and Watney those are like guys who have been around for a while we all know like Watney story and Hoffman um Milady was there then you got morawa who was like tied for 23rd kley and chafl died for 23rd I mean so they there was potential to be there yeah I mean there there were some cool names but it kind of falls off pretty hard after that yeah yep I it just seems like it’s like yeah it just Falls a little short every year for some reason I think it’s like coming up on like the 10th year they’ve done this event at TBC Louisiana it just seems like it’s a little more hyped up and it doesn’t it doesn’t meet the hype or or like probably where they want it to be I didn’t I mean I didn’t see any excitement leading up to it but I mean coming up we’ve obviously got May 2nd is the CJ cup out in mcken Texas and then you’ve got the Wells Fargo which is a signature event coming up on May 9th I I would say too like there’s a there’s a huge Master’s hangover right every year like we want more of that like that’s what we want it’s more major tournament golf after we get that first taste so luckily the RBC had a big field you know a lot of a lot of people committed to that and played you know Scotty was Scotty and one like 20$ 20 million does that too I mean that attracts that man is both rich and very good at golf uh I’m sure Ted Scott is very happy with the decision he made a couple years ago to go on to Scotty’s bag I didn’t realize this but you know Ted Scott’s a four-time major Champion himself with uh two masters from Bubba and two masters from Scotty now I said major I meant Masters I don’t know if he’s won any other Majors I I wouldn’t be surprised he’s the second best Ted I know uh well like you know how we were talking about top 10 finishes from uh Ry and trainer and how long they’ve been so this is crazy uh joined the tour in 2020 he’s played 121 events so Ry played 131 or 136 36 or something yeah yeah he’s made Scotty shuffler has made 102 out of 121 tournament Cuts that’s crazy 52 top 10 finishes like that’s insane for a total of $61 million so if he makes a cut he’s making the top 10 50% of the time little over yeah yeah he’s actually over over 50% yeah look at you Rain Man comeing over look at that but you never know when I might surprise you with some quick uh you know math yeah and total I mean 10 PJ tour win so that’s I mean that’s cool but that also is like dramatic difference between who we just talked about and then obviously Scotty shuffler the I mean best golfer this year all right so the Zurich was a little underwhelming uh Rory Shane win playoff hole terrible putt by trainer shouldn’t be on the tour yada yada yada I’m going with the chip was worse than the putt man I’m going with that that’s that’s mine sorry go go rewatch The putt just go rewatch The putt it was bad I agree but that chip was like just horri like and we’ve all been there you’ve you’ve got a small tiny bunker you you’re shortsighted you’re like okay don’t get cute with this just put it on the damn green so that my partner can actually make a putt and he leaves his partner a harder chip like I think it was actually in the Short Grass at that point and so he’s got a tight lie and now he’s got like 10 or five pieces of green to work with it’s like dude you just screwed your partner put up putter in his hand whose pitch shot was worse uh Danny McCarthy or trainer at the Valero I mean probably McCarthy right I mean yeah I mean I could go that way I gotta I I would say so especially after he made like 97 birdies on Sunday you know yeah yeah to to have your worst shot of the tournament happen on the playoff hole r five like what do you I mean come on now yeah but he he also had more yardage like he wasn’t just a 40 yard chip like it was probably D was probably I think it was like 80 80 yards something like that but I I would have put it personally I would have put it to about 10 feet and made the putt but you know we all can’t be cam right so hey and 11 that’s totally doable two times out of 18 holes yeah yeah well we catch lightning in the bottle occasionally the golf course so all right Zurich let’s move on to to live Adelaide and I kind of want to start it off uh just so I don’t lose this mental note why hasn’t live with their team aspect done some sort of like Ridder cup style tournament right with their eight teams or whatever it is we’ll call it uh I mean don’t they kind of it’s all stroke no it’s it’s just stroke Play No but the yeah um true throughout the year but isn’t like like the final isn’t it like uh Team versus team and then they’ve got their captains that play each other isn’t that the the final event that they go to hey Jamie will you check that that was a little uh Little Joe Rogan uh you know Jamie check that call out uh I don’t know I don’t know I don’t know I’ve never watched the final live event um yeah there’s only been one right is that is that how they did it there yeah there was something that they did what was oh now I got to look this up I will find something on it yeah that that was my thought like when we were talking about team event Ridder cup style like it seems like that would just be a great way to like have something different which is what they’re trying to do whilst having some excitement to it I’m pretty sure they did it in TL to’s backyard how he doesn’t know about this is crazy to me I it was in Florida we already went over this I I don’t I don’t watch I watch yeah I’m pretty sure it was in October it was at Trump National they did that what they do what they do nowhere close to my backyard well I mean closer than Cam and I yeah that’s true you literally couldn’t get farther away from that’s that’s factually correct whether you like it or not Teddy so yeah while Justin’s looking up you know the final event for Liv golf uh in the layout the format whatever um we’re going to talk about Liv Adelaide uh I watched probably more Liv than I did the Zer because you know Liv was coming on right after I you know put the kiddo to bed was sitting on the couch pop open the app I did find out that you could I could download the live Golf Plus app down to my uh Smart TV in the basement so I did that but it just kept going in and out the stream I’m like okay well this sucks uh so I put hockey back on the big screen had Liv going on in the background on the phone um the broadcast has gotten significantly better I think than you know when they first started uh once you get used to the music especially at Adelaide they got the watering hole where it’s just pandemonium um you can still hear it throughout the other holes the music like you can be like yeah this this hole obviously doesn’t have the speakers but two holes over does and you can still hear it yeah um I was just so unimpressed with the leaderboard I’m like what is going on here who is shinichiro shimura whatever his name is uh who won Brendan steel I know who brenon Ste Brendon steel is I mean he took the money he had to I mean he was relevant for like two or three tournaments um yeah so the team championship is decided at the final event of the Season it is a knockout format that combines match play and stroke play creating head-to-heads all over the course and I remember seeing this last year where it was like oh the captains are playing each other so I think uh Phil Mickelson played Brooks and it was a it was a match play like that and um imag I imagine Brooks boat race Phil oh yeah yeah that was they’re they’re in the same group right I would hope yeah no they were in the same group they were literally it was just the there was it was two players from each team and they were playing match play okay so so they kind of have done that I mean that was kind of interesting um but I remember looking at the website when it was happening last year going like okay what wait what happens next and how do they get to this point because I think they had to like captains had to match play each other to get into the next round and then it was the team competition for like some weird reason now was that a shotgun start as well uh yes sir that’s one thing that we never commented on when we were talking about our PGA Tour versus live I can’t stand the shotgun start I don’t want to see like the winner on whole four you know making his putt I I I like the aspect of like there’s a finishing hole like especially as a spectator on site like you know where to be when that that winning groups coming in whether they’re six groups ahead of everybody because they just went really low on Sunday or it’s like the final group like you know where to be you know when they’re coming down that way um I get the shotgun start it’s just another change from the PGA Tour and what all these guys were used to but their fields aren’t big enough to like warrant not just going off the first te first thing in the morning throughout the day right well and go for go ahead Justin well I was just gonna say like the the main thing that they were wanting by doing the shotgun was just you had all the golf going on it’s easier to broadcast from their perspective because they can cut to one through 18 right and they’re gonna they’ve got 18 groups 18 groups going rather than one two three adds I get that I get it I don’t like it yeah but I understand it makes sense on that aspect I could see I mean I think their big thing was like now we can have it all condensed you know like but that’s also the problem as a spectator right so like I’ll go back to when my daughter and I my wife went up and watched um at punkin Ridge it was like well I want to watch Phil because I’ve never actually watched this guy in person so we followed him for like five holes and was like oh shoot uh we gota like start running around to other places because we’re gonna we’re gonna miss out on the entire tournament real real quick it’s more of a trade-off for people on site like you said if you want to watch Phil everyone else is going at that same time it’s not like Phil being off in the morning and then you want to go watch Rory or John ROM in the afternoon like yeah whereas like I mean I’m sure you did this at the waste management but when I went to like Bay Hill I got there at you know 6:30 in the morning I W I followed like Christian Ray which like sleeves and two gloves and iron covers like it was just really hard to watch for a little bit um then I went and watched some other people then I caught up with Rory and it was like oh cool finish my day like with the crowds of Rory because even though I mean he was playing all right two years ago everyone wants to follow Rory so yeah I I I I would still have to go watch Rory mroy play a few holes if like I’m at a turn like 100% it’s the same like you mentioned it earlier like tiger like we all know he’s not gonna play that well but you’re gonna go watch him do we know that Justin I hope he doesn’t I hope for the best with tiger in his golf I agreed all of us want to relive 2019 again but likelihood of this happening is getting Slimmer and Slimmer as we speak all right so live Adelaide Australia party you know kind of like the the Waste Management Open of live golf if you ask me is the closest comparison uh it was jam-packed like we were talking about this you know before we we went live like there’s just tons of people all three days um I will say one thing that I I don’t know if I like it or not but during the broadcast and they were doing Matt Jones who I believe is Australian as well he’s on cam Smith’s team uh they did like this like weird little kind of uh like specific take for him and he was talking about his guitars I’m like I don’t really care about Matt Jones and like his guitars that he has yeah like how long do I have to watch this was he talking about him it was him and the the woman uh interviewer I forget her name so the Asian the Asian chick who did who’s like on the broadcast so they took it from the walk and talk from the PJ to her events right yeah you could say but I it was like separate it wasn’t while they were playing it was oh got it it was like they were like interview style walking through a building or the course wherever they were I’m like I don’t want to see this like I’d rather like you said while while Shane Low’s Breathing heavily into the headphones walking down the 17th Fairway I’d rather have that than hear about Matt Jones and his guitars yeah yeah but I get like people you know people probably do like that and you know Liv is still very young right so they they’re working out Kinks or or whatever they’re figuring out still when it comes to broadcasting but I mean place was packed you brought it up Teddy like is there room like there’s obviously not there’s not enough mental capacity for you to follow two tours no but is there like is there room within like our like sports bubble like within golf for people to like follow Tut tours I I mean it’s hard for me to go back and forth the only time I ever do it is when I like I’m home and yeah I’m not gonna listen to it I’m gonna listen to I listen to which another thing that you and I argue about is going to be XM radio but I’ll listen to the PGA to a radio and I’ll just listen to the rounds I’m not doing that on live Ian it’s also tough because you’re I mean even previously the PG hor was competing with all the other major sports too right so you’re kind of you know depending on what time of year it is you’re also competing with the NBA playoffs and the NHL playoffs and you got now you have the college football playoffs and the March Madness and all that so it’s it was already difficult and now you’re going to split you know that viewership in half best case scenario I think what what both entities have to understand is like the Casual golfer is not going to tune in ever like right whereas the die hards like we we’ll say myself and and the people we know Teddy and the and you just like the people who keep up with players like and know who they are that’s who’s like I I’m not watching live like most most people I talk to like yeah I don’t go and turn live on yeah um but they’re also not really and never have been turning PGA Tour on outside of the big tournaments so it’s like like you said like we’re splitting that already like Aging in small fan base into into halves they already don’t pay enough attention for like one no no I mean for a it’s a little bit easier for the tour with the you know being on NBC and CBS for the most part and you know you get people that are just scrolling through the channels and oh there’s a golf tournament I wonder who and they might be able to recognize a couple names and they’ll keep it on and you know they might end up finishing the the afternoon round watching U which you can’t do that with Liv right you have to go to specific you know streaming platforms to well well you can get on the CW right I’ve never watched anything else in my entire life on the CW except for Liv golf yeah isn’t that isn’t that didn’t that channel come from the channel That would play like Dawson’s Creek back in the day yeah yeah with like the Frog and stuff oh my gosh that’s horrible yes yeah um yeah I yeah that’s probably another conversation right we could talk about live for sator and now all the problems with both of them uh for about six hours um but what I did watch of Liv Adelaide it was it was better broadcasting wise I do like the putt line that they do like hey here was this guy’s aiming but here’s a track that he wants his ball to go on by aiming here hitting in a certain speed I like that I do like the stats that they show uh you know as they’re hitting it it’s definitely like what tour does is just a different look but you know has the ball speed it has a swing speed it has the carry distance um it’s a little quicker Pace too right yeah yeah I mean you only have few seconds to try to hone in on what some of the numbers are and everything yeah you’re you’re watching Waco Neeman shot and then like four seconds later you’re watching BR and then it’s just one after the other which is what people want they want less commercials which is what the tour has is yes 4,000 commercials every hour um I thought I and I I’m not one to like be a golf course snob it just doesn’t seem like the course like it was in good shape the course like kind of just doesn’t for the people who are snobs they’re like yeah this course sucks is what I would anticipate like one of the par 3s the angle it might have been the angle of like where they were on the T boox when it comes to like the camera but like are these guys in the middle of a fairway right now or is this a t- boox yeah and I was just like shocked it was like that uphill part three and I’m like what’s going on on here like I don’t know it just seems like it’s probably because I don’t recognize the courses as much as I do say RBC Heritage or or of course austa and the big turn you know those things but I the courses seem a little me which is a problem on on the on the tour as well don’t get me wrong but yeah but that’s the comment that everyone says everyone says like all the live guys are out there playing Resort golf and shorts it’s like the number one comment you hear so I mean they’re still kind of figuring out their schedule and stuff too right trying to solidify sites like they don’t have the the luxury that the tour has where you especially now that they’ve made these elevated events where like they’re always going to be at you know this place or that place whatever what what golf course would you like to see an event at Teddy and Justin that doesn’t currently have one or like you just know never will uh like like B is not going to have a PGA Tour event right like this is never gonna happen yeah unfortunately yeah for me honestly it’s just like I just want to see more tournaments on the west coast yeah like I mean obviously they have the California swing and stuff but I mean I’d love to see Chambers again like is Chambers ever G to get a chance to like I know it played like incredibly tough and everyone kind of commented about how how burned out it was and all that kind of stuff but it’s like dude there’s every every course gets still wildly entertaining yeah I I’ll be honest with you I’ve watched that because that’s where spe won I believe and I just I I’ve watched that final round a few times in the last probably year and I’m like yeah this it’s all brown which I guess a lot of people think Brown’s not the like Brown’s not bad I was like I kind of disagree like if I go to a course to play golf on a Saturday and it’s brown I’m like this kind of sucks you know but don’t get me wrong like it’s a US Open they want it to be tough and like over the week like they they dry it out they want the greens to be lightning fast and and they want you know that’s it’s windy as [ __ ] anyways by Chambers Bay right like so it’s just naturally going to dry out anyways but I I would agree I think Chambers Bay would be a great place to to have another uh Us open at least Ted wh St maybe yeah why can’t we have something at Whistling Straits like every year right like it seems like there’s always mhm some drama uh whenever you know they visit there so that would be nice personally I think that isn’t the problem I mean both courses we just listed they’re not spectator friendly right yeah so that’s the that was the biggest yeah Chambers Bay is labeled as like the hardest walk in golf yeah uh yeah and the Whistling Straits I think is also just it’s just there’s nothing else really yeah yeah it’s in the middle of nowhere and it I I wonder what membership too you know what kind of say they have have in these areas right I’m not I’m not too privy to that kind of process but you can publicly play Whistling Straits which is kind I mean they’re proud of it it’s like $450 around because I went up to Wisconsin and one of the customers I have up there they were like oh yeah we could but have you looked at the price I was like you are correct we are are probably not going to go how much do you pay our company yeah I can’t I can’t expense a $450 round SEL yeah yeah I mean you could also throw in some of the other like Pebble courses if you wanted to go like the number one uh hardest course Golf Digest um spy glass right like there could be one there yeah I mean the players seem to like that one more than the ocean course whenever they visit so so I didn’t I didn’t really have an answer to that I just it just came into my head so I was like let me ask these guys um it seems like there’s like you know golf’s always been like an elitist sport right so it’s always been you know all the country clubs are private and and all you know Pine Valley you know I’m surprised we even saw a video of Ricky making a hole in one like I’m sure don’t get me wrong like tour players and and Colt get little special treatment than say you or I would uh but I was still shocked to see that well like I was listening to the smiley caufman podcast and he was talking about it with JT um and then I looked up like how can you actually go play Pine Valley because they were making it sound like it was just impossible and uh it is like it is impossible to actually go for a normal human being you have to be a scratch golfer or good they consider this but like from some of the comments I read it was like you have to be close to scratch golfer and you have to be invited by the board so if you’re not invited by the board like let’s say a member wants you just to come with them that’s not going to happen you literally have to be in invited by the board of membership so so you mean to tell me every member of Pine Valley is a scratch golfer no you could be a member there and it’s just the guests it’s the guest but it’s also like I mean according to like them when I was listening on the podcast it was like one of the hardest golf courses any of them have ever played so I don’t know I’ll shoot 75 it’ll be fine the second time I break 80 at Pine Valley that’ll be tight yeah your your handicap’s going down pretty just from what I saw on that video and like I think they have a few like uh Quick videos like available on the internet like YouTube and stuff looks like a sick course I mean yeah yeah no it looks awesome you just got to figure out you know can we win the lottery and then can we get somebody to nominate us for a membership just small steps we got to take guys we gotta get this podcast up yeah I wonder what the interview is like with the board yeah how much money can you pay us a year can you uh can you send us $50 your first six bank account statements that you use like just we just want to see like the the major ones the other 10 that you’ve got we don’t really care you you need three Swiss accounts three Cayman Island accounts yeah and if you give us all you need to be investigated by the uh um FTC yeah yeah so uh we got a little off track there but that’s fine uh live Adelaide a lot of people there throughout the entire week course looked well as as a lot of people are saying nowadays ho home if you ask if you ask me um one thing and I I kind of spend a lot of time on golf X golf Twitter uh people hate this the team celebration at the end where they all go on stage they start popping champagne you know it’s corny have you guys seen that in it so what are your thoughts on the team celebrations kind of at the end yeah I mean I think they’re just Liv took a lot from F1 right so like if you’ve watched you know any of the F1 races like they have the team aspect as well they do the podium finishes like they’re and it’s a you know Friday Saturday it’s a three-day event you know with the Sprint the qualifying and then the the actual race so I mean they’re they’re essentially just trying to make golf F1 which you know with the the roots of where live came from and stuff it kind of makes sense yeah um I think it’s kind of corny just my thoughts on I can’t I can’t imagine the players like yeah dude let’s go on stage in front of these people will call it and say let’s let’s show off and Showboat and shower them in Champagne because we just won three million bucks each or whatever I think it’s a little bit easier for the F1 guys because they also have like their entire you know 40 Man team as well behind them so like they’re kind of celebrating that with all of them whereas with golf it’s like all of Red Bull team celebrating not just like the driver yeah right yeah it’s you can’t really replicate that and especially like all these guys have never celebrated you know they’ve won even the worst live player like they’ve won so many junior tournaments throughout their life they’ve they’ve been they’ve never celebrated that way before in their life so I’m sure they feel awkward as well right but they’re probably told you know Gregs is over there like hey you got to go up here shake this champagne bottle real quick act like you’re excited I mean I I think it’s kind of cool to some extent but again like I think the team event is probably the only thing I like about Liv I like the fact that you could buy into a team like I I think that’s actually kind of neat if the if the names were actually pretty cool I I could probably be into it but I I don’t know with like any straight face I can be like oh yeah I’m a huge fan of range goats it’s it’s funny because like you know as I better team that’s what I’m saying like that’s the only one I’m going to follow is going to be range ghost I’m not going is it to or is it torque it’s torque yeah so we got tqu we’ve got Legion um for I would prefer torque and then they could they could all use the lab Putters and it would just be the greatest thing ever yeah they’re all they’re all out of torque or whatever he yeah shout out to sponsor it’s it’s funny you talk spor here talk about the names because like you know the audience as I said at the top of the podcast we’re we doing some creative changes which we’re evaluating the name and and everything and it’s so hard to come up with like a name that’s clever but also like golf related but also like not everywhere already by some other brand or what have you um but yeah the the names are are quite interesting and live you got rippers I don’t mind the clicks if it wasn’t like all the old dudes it’d be a little better yeah right they’re all they’re literally like they’re just they’re all English too I think it’s you know it makes sense you know they’re European I give i’ give Brooks some credit because he’s kind of turned smash like there’s a cool factor with like smash but smash is also just like a weird name and then you got freaking Roid Rage Das Shambo with Crushers so like Crushers I think is stupid I also think their logo’s dumb but that’s just yeah I think the logos for most of them are pretty tough yeah the worst one to me is Fireballs I didn’t know that was a team I didn’t hear anything about the Fireballs this week when I was watching well you know they were uh intense as a team Garcia an chakara and puke which did chakara actually go pro now oh eugo or whatever yeah yeah cuz when he was playing what last year or the year before he was they were basically taking his money and putting into an account for him so he could finish college and like he could play for I think it was uh Oklahoma State like when I went up to Portland he was playing with an Oklahoma State Golf bag yeah it was kind of interesting to like see that like huh all right so our our conversation about Liv has um spiraled into now like minutes we hate we hate your mascots a little what if what if they did that what if they like had actual mascots throughout the course and they just don’t show them well that might be the next did you see any at the pumpkin patch no but like the I think it’s kind of cool for um like apparel and stuff like I could see how I and I even told my daughter this weekend I was like I could probably go play like buy a range goats hat or something like I think that’s all right we we have you know a trip coming up in August and I was thinking about getting like a little tea gift for everybody and it’s either going to be I think Sunday red apparel because I don’t think any of them like it or or uh I’m gonna get each one a different team hat from a from a li golf team because none of them also watch Li that’s awesome I’m trying to figure out what I’m gonna get Tyler Tyler belt because I’m probably gonna get him like the range goat one the most like hideous hat you can find the Fireballs is probably the worst right yeah I was gonna say Fireballs is pretty is CS is kind of dumb IRS I the clicks I think is probably my favorite team name I haven’t seen I don’t know what the logo looks like C with a like a golf club like with a click because it was a for that’s like what the name of the driver was back in the day right yeah we’re gonna go smash cleaks let’s just go hit cleaks all day dude you did not say that ever again it felt dirty smash you you want to touch ceks yeah oh that’s so bad all right moving on uh well I think that’s actually all we had to cover um when it comes to the Zurich Liv uh you know announcements being made about the podcast Teddy and Justin joining the team fulltime we’ve all quit our jobs uh and we’re gonna attack this wife is super stoked about this yeah yeah I haven’t told my wife yet moving back in with my parents don’t let Teddy lie to you he he’s never left yeah say well that’s cool when’d you move out so I think I have a window okay yeah so you’re obviously not in the basement I’m not in the basement I’m up in the living room yeah it’s on a window well back there behind you that’s a good view of Jacksonville you can see it you can’t see it but no all right so I think our next episode’s gonna be uh
