was suboptimal but hey we’re here so it’s all good matter what you what direction you attack anywhere these days it seems so uh no beautiful day um I I wanted to ask you because uh I was in Royal Oak last night storms storms came in and it was ominous and and actually we in our neighborhood like right next door it lit I think lightning hit the ground because it it lit up like Christmas I was just wondering to up on the castle up on the hill did you see could you see this because you’re above the cloud cover correct dmac and and we we have a uh you know a natural force field that we have built around the the hills of Washington Township so you know rain we can see the lightning from up there but that’s just for other people how was the show oh it was good it was good it was really good actually yeah but you know we’re at the highest point uh of mome County out there but uh no it was it was electric so I hope everybody’s all right cuz I know it was it got pretty bad over on the west side of the state but the the lightning show was pretty incredible man no it it was in this time of year and I think it’s just uh at this time just everybody make sure you’re safe and you know uh I I think the biggest thing um PSA is that uh these tornadoes are real and usually we’re the ones who are observing them down you know South a little bit more but for whatever reason uh they are hit in Michigan now so everybody be safe if you’re told to get into a shelter uh take heat take heed no AB absolutely so I hope everybody’s doing all right I hope the power is working and all that kind of stuff uh we’re going to get into a little bit about the Tigers there’s uh there’s a situation that the morning show talked about the NFL draft and I think people are glossing over it and it’s absurd and it’s on brand and we’re going to get there uh as well but in the chat the people are hyped shout out Detroit City FC last night dmac beat the Houston Dynamo out of mls in the US Open cup down two nil on the road uh it goes to penalties at the end and and it was like is it okay remember back in I don’t know 20 years ago when I played shootout they went the Rangers went to like the 15th guy and it was Merck Malik Malik Merck who went through his legs or whatever was that a goenda on two things sure because you can yes what does that say about resiliency for uh dcfc to come back and win down 2-n against in an MLs Stadium on the road right in 92 heat with 95% humidity and and then Part B is that what does that say when it gets into 11 rounds of of that that’s unbelievable isn’t it well they just they cycle through everyone so but saying was it the goal tending or was it the ineptitude or how does that how does that get to that to that far yeah that’s a lot that’s that’s ridiculously a lot isn’t it in soccer well it’s it’s kind of like what you talked about with hockey you just everyone that’s out there participates was but but a shootout right a shootout in so in soccer and and I Maybe I’m Wrong is a lot harder than to shootout in hockey or whatever like you just got to hit your if you just hit your spot then there’s nothing that can be done about it correct so how did how does like what’s like more unbelievable it was it was high level attempts high level kicks you know but as you said they they found their their Mark there was no Keeper in the world that was going to stop it except for Carlos s the backup keeper for Detroit City cuz I you know I did the match on Saturday night they were in they were in Virginia just outside of Washington DC they went from there to Houston they have a match on National TV this Saturday so I mean people got it’s soccer like it’s not like it’s baseball you know you run 10 11 miles out there so they just they cycled through everybody it’s a legendary moment in the history of Detroit city it’s an incredible moment in in US soccer as well so I just wanted to give them their due man because they deserve that well yeah because and then then they came back from two nothing like that’s like that’s like unbel that’s unbelievable I mean I know we were talking earlier because uh um our intern was telling us that Dallas let him down last night after a three and nothing lead yeah Jamie who got got the wind blowing come through there right but that’s but that’s not as unbelievable as coming back against an that’s not an MLS team against an MLS team correct right it’s it’s sort of an under it’s like a triple A team it’s almost like amateurs versus Pros to break it down to simpler terms yeah to to to simpler right yeah well I mean dcfc is a like USL Championship is a professional show so everybody um I guess it gets it’s a long way to get to on Thursdays we have Trevor James who’s the sporting director of dcfc so these are questions that if if you have or you can ask because we’re we are in the mo we talk about the Lions all the time being in the middle of it well as far as like dcfc they’re putting us in the middle of they’re giving us a championship you know they’re competing at this high level they’re setting you know Club standards um Trevor’s talked about every time he’s come in is the fact that he’s able to go out and get better players and better players and and better players and it looks like you know not saying like at our level we’re we’re we’re becoming a destination yeah no no doubt and uh wward Sports Chat there the people are electric in there nobody says MLS big mad right now I mean I’m just saying Detroit City FC is the is are they mad Detroit City FC beats the MLS teams more than they don’t I’m just going off of facts that’s uh that’s exactly what happens but does MLS is are they as a league are they mad right now oh they gotta be yeah or do they just not care they probably don’t I can’t speak for I don’t know the Eric maybe uh here councilman I hope you’re uh closy I hope you’re listening right now you’re can answer me that like is it the arrogance of M MLS do they have that arrogance or do they see this as I see it as a good thing because that means competition right that means like Talent or something like like like you can be disappointed but I can see the Silver Lining or you have the arrogance that you don’t care I don’t know how MLS offers itself because if if this was the NFL like say for an example um I’m not I’m going to say like a a scrub team a replacement team like a XFL team came in and beat an NFL team the NFL would not be mad at that team it would be like it didn’t matter it’s just that team at the bottom we just like you put right the arrogance so just wonder Poss I’m just wondering if we’re going to give dcfc their due will will MLS well they just went and took it you know they no I no I they just did what Detroit just did we we won it we’re GNA get it I mean what a great story deal and I think it’s it’s a great way to lead off because it’s so important and we’ve always been about uh dcfc I mean I know that you get Saturday they played yesterday in Houston they’re playing again Saturday on National Television M I didn’t hear them say anything about it exactly and coming back now from to new that’s that’s tough in soccer that’s what I’m saying man so tough in any game against anything but I’m saying and to be honest the MLS shouldn’t be turning their nose up in anyone because they’re not the best soccer league in the world so not even close to Premier League well in the in the country they they Pride themselves well yeah they got messy but who else well it was messy for him yesterday for sure right yeah no came in and took it absolutely uh nobody says D I told you guys Dallas would choke and and intern Justins and shambles there is no doubt about that and and look Colorado’s still Colorado man and Nathan McKinnon still Nathan McKinnon and when you got the best guy on the ice dmac you got a shot yeah I mean these guys know what it takes because they’ve they’ve got through the Finish Line before they’ve won a cup so they can dig deep and you know I think what you saw yesterday too is that seven game series against Vegas like that emotion and tired and it’s sort of like hanging onto the Rope hanging onto the Rope because yeah they came out great and everything like that but Colorado got going and you could feel the momentum and that was that was a great example last night of how the big momentum can shift in playoff hockey so it’s still going to be a series it’s going to be a six or seven game series um Dallas probably come back and one game too but um yeah it’s exciting I mean the Rangers what they go double over time and and local boy Vinnie Cho with the uh OT winner but that that’s a heck of a series man did you see did you watch any of the Rangers uh Carolina uh I caught the highlights after it over trouba thank God he missed this albow Neil but he guy cut in on him and he went to hit him through him he’s vertical hitting his face and stuff against the boards I mean this man’s a monster out there blocking shots blocking shots just being a menace you know got to give props to the local boys yeah the Rangers came out fine and then also that that uh cheap slooh foot by uh spev um on that was into the wall that was dirty yeah oh yeah there there is there was some that that series is spicy yeah got you got to take hold of that because I’ve seen a bunch of undisciplined come back come back to get you yeah there that series is going to be a brawl to the end I think those are the two best two of the best teams in the league and they are deep they’re physical and they do not like each other at all yeah no the playoffs playoffs are everything you want no no no question but yes uh somebody asked can we talk about the lion some today so I can be Hench putting him in the lineup and them delivering um so again I know we’re looking for consistency but how was your bottom of the lineup last night as a as a ma as a matter of fact last night uh 6789 right torlon they had 1 two three four hits they were four they were four for eight four for 13 four for 17 but the number in that is the four RB okay so there it is so my question to you Neil right as we’ve been forget the names right and obviously we can have a whole different conversation about tor’s production and his you know disappointment being what what expectation no home runs but that’s a different conversation this is you had a hit in a walk last night yeah this is the bottom of the lineup now is that what we were looking for is that the bar that’s set for the bottom of the lineup no matter what they hit so I mean God it’s 225 yeah right okay but the four RB so you don’t care as long as you’re getting production so is so if the bottom of the lineup produced that would you be happy yes that’s it so that’s it yeah cuz they weren’t they weren’t two for 14 with eight strikeouts no no but what I’m saying right Kenny I think Kenny you’re following me the fact that it’s really not a lot you’re not asking for yeah you’re not asking for vanilla chocolate and strawberry with the whipped cream I I just want dessert you just you just want just give me one one of whatever little bit of hitting but more importantly you need to drive runers home when you have them on base well right and when it comes down to the bottom of the lineup before right you you get by what Carpenter or Cana and done normally zero yeah right you know so so there there’s a start you know that’s what we look but that’s what I’m looking for is there a consistent Help From The Bottom from the bottom of the lineup in in the each game look it’s very very basic everybody it is and this is this may sound bad that’s not expecting much is it no no and and here’s the deal dmac and this may sound bad and this may sound negative but I think you you know we’ known each other long enough you know where I’m coming from with this from your center field spot last night you had two for five with a run that was off the table when Parker Meadows was playing center field I’m sorry so now now you can dissect right now you get down a little bit deeper and dissect and say right again that and that’s is that that was not a possible outcome the minimum that you’d expect I mean two for five is aggressive every night but the moral of the story is like he has that in the toolbag WIIL Perez Parker Meadows did not how do I know that he was hitting 090 okay and and here’s the thing so go down and find it kid right that’s what we’re saying and that’s what’s been done so Parker medals really shouldn’t be in our conversation right now yeah the fact that it’s the right decision did AJ Hench did Scott Harris or whatever now I agreed because nobody’s saying give him more time he needs more time right right so the move’s been made right the replacement seems to be consistently that he’s going to be there do you think Perez is not going to be there for the near future or Perez uh Val I’m not sure because once Gio comes back he probably that’s that that’s okay but we’re talking about Perez right now in center field right I don’t think you you can’t send him back down this point no so that Cleveland Guardians team last night you know what I walked away with last night not that the Tigers got 11 runs I didn’t walk away with that what the Guardians are frauds like come on man are they the Minnesota Vikings like that’s that’s the best that might be us but that’s the best that’s in this division was what I saw last night come on this this thing is wide open for the taking yeah I believe so but they got off to a good start man they’ve been playing Better Baseball than we have so it just is what it is but 11 runs you can’t expect that every every day unfortunately with this and Ryan valade coming up and getting his first major league hit and getting two RB on it like that’s what it took yeah certainly you can you can say both sides of that yeah I’m going to CH I’m going to choose you know I’m going to choose the first one and say that’s how thin the line is yeah very thing it is man like that’s that’s what’s crazy to me that’s why but that’s why we’re on Tor so much too because if he can unlock himself this offense can go to a whole another level that you know we haven’t seen yet and they’ve managed to stay above water this whole time you know what else is getting lost in this too by the way Matt verling hitting 282 and Riley Green’s hitting 264 for like as much as we hype up Riley green and stuff like that like Matt verling has been probably the most consistent for average hitter yeah that that the Tigers have yeah he’s been solid he’s had games here and there where he wasn’t the best but overall he’s been great this year and I know last year he wasn’t you need Matt beerling to win him B yeah a team needs two mattlings to win M 280 which again that is a glass of ice water after 33 days in the desert yeah but isn’t 280 the old 300 yeah probably yeah probably so I just I wanted to bring that up um because it is rack I like when they harp on about how bayz is the best tagger in the game he’s 100% the worse rack come on give Dickerson some slack he got to do his job rack you you like games I’ve done I’ve done the same thing like if you think that’s bad you should listen to the FS1 Pistons uh show because they got a they got a hard job no you got to do it man like that’s that’s part of that’s why I always laugh about when play-by-play guys and color guys are like well yeah they’re you know they’re they’re defending the team and stuff like that that’s the job they work for the team I work for the teams man so what do you want from me got do what you want I give you what you pay for this is a professional relationship I I do revealed that the Las Vegas Raiders wanted to draft him I can’t remember they were at 13 I believe yes um they wanted to draft him and it came down to a coin flip a literal coin flip um between no not not a figurative coin flip as in oh man we can’t decide you know how how we going to decide between teron Arnold and Brock Bowers not a not a not a figurative coin flip you said they actually flipped the coin a literal coin flip between him and Brock Bowers they flipped the coin Brock Bowers won they drafted Brock Bowers did you say who flipped the coin the Raiders no but who who of the who is responsible for oh I don’t know it I I would like to think it’s not pierce the the coach it would have to be would been Mark Davis that pumpkin pie hair cuted freak would it was it was it him that was doing it well I mean we’ve seen him make uh decisions like this before so I I think it’s safe to say it was Mark Davis I just I don’t know commitment to Excellence dmac and we’ll get into some so unbrand if that’s true like there’s no reason not to yeah the decisions that they’ve made over the last decades isn’t that on brand it’s on brand have you D I mean that that might have turned their whole organization around because that’s probably the guy like when they drafted him I was like oh okay that makes sense that’s probably a smart and not to sh Brock Bowers cuz he is the top tight end coming out of college you know no question not to shade him but deciding your first round draft Brock Bowers is a is a fine player the point trying to make is look at what making human decisions in said the the Raiders interview organization called him after the draft because they were talking to him before and during the draft after the draft they called him and they said yeah it came down to a coin flip now allegedly the Raiders were going to trade back up into the first round to try to attempt to get terion again but it never happened never materialized He also mentioned that Brad Holmes was willing to trade up to 15 or 16 to to go get terion I told you he also revealed that so that’s you’re right I you’re right yeah but it’s it’s just it’s hilarious to me they I’m I can’t get past this like here’s an idea have like Scouts they tried that in the past people who evaluate that’s the point I’m trying to make is they’ve tried that in the past we are at a fundamental I get it no no dmac we are at a fundamental no we’re not this difference that we can’t get here no it’s not fundamental obviously like that that’s what it’s so on brand is so on brand right like they might you know what did you know that when we find out it was like the sorcerer that flipped the court like whatever they brought in some they needed to do something different I guess they couldn’t make they they used everybody they’ve hired in the past to make decisions and whatever like that hasn’t made the right decision for that organization this this might be the right decision and it’s probably Davis ended up to what what if Rock Bowers goes for 13 hyy and and 10 touchdowns this year who Aiden okano was his quarterback what if he does come on man come on what if he does I think they’re trying to regarded as the number one corner available I mean they did I I was not a believer in quinan Mitchell uh I think tyon Arnold is is is better in that respect but dmac when you do that I think that indicates to me that he’s going to start for you oh for sure I’m not I’m not being obtuse here and was addressing that need sorry of of the number two and you could say what you want about acquiring Robinson from Vegas but uh no they needed this guy this this is what their plan is and they plan on him starting and I thought that they had their eye on it i’ love the fact that Brad Holmes came out and said exactly what I thought is the fact that he was willing to move up to into the teens to get his guy yeah right so I I think that that’s the plan now um are you comfortable with that whatever like we’ll we’ll wait and see cu the best thing what did we just say coming out of the draft and and out of free agency and everything like that the hungriest uh room is that cornerback room it is and and I mean guys are going to want to eat so again it goes back to does it Ma yes you want it to be your young guys that you drafted and stuff like that but it doesn’t really matter who it is as long as it gets done yeah and and Brad Holmes and he’s going to get first shot I mean he’s your first round he should get first shot right you like him for this and that and it’s almost like it it doesn’t mean it’s his job he’s got and and do you not think on this team with this coach you have to earn your playing time yeah he’s came out and said it but he’s shown it to me I mean on on the surface yeah you would say they invested a third round pick and a first like he’s going to be your starter um the way they they like to operate and the versatility that they like to use I think is going to be a rotation much like we’ll see on the other side of you’re ultimately right because it’s kind of like uh when people talk about soccer right and and the in formations in soccer and the formation they start with soccer fans go wild about that and it changes about six minutes into the match and then it just doesn’t matter anymore right just people running around and like I I I think it’s funny because I even caught myself right there kg when you brought that up I said Man Neil think about this for a minute it’s starter like a name only like the first play of the game yeah then after that it’s probably matchup driven right yeah look at the um Monty uh Gibb situation is it’s very similar yes on on paper you would put mati as rb1 but they they they’re matchup based they use them in ways that that they’re both kind of starters it’s really 1 a 1B so I can definitely see that with this cornerback room because you look at the names you got amek Robertson you got Carlton Davis now terion and and n STW and you still have Manuel Mosley set to come back to who is quotee uh cornerback one material so here’s the thing I just think your two first rounders they just have to be one yeah one guy right like you know what I mean one doesn’t have to although they’ll push each other yeah but that they’re looking to help each other out and maybe that’s going to help that they’re going to have to you know they learn at the same time yeah right I I know like just thinking back about you know you sort of have classes and I don’t know some people call it clicks or you know groups or whatever like that but it’s usually by your age group or when you come in or your draft class or when you play together yeah and you know that’s sort of what the grind line basis was with you know our wings teams Aussie you know Marty Le Point you know um and all that stuff so there there’s a nucleus to it so it’s it’s it’s something that that it and that might FasTrack right cuz with to and then you know both pushing each other but also to know that they also don’t have to be the end all be all and you got to look at all of these guys that they have in this room now they all have similar skill sets like we were talking about on the morning Woodward show uh Ray straw and Arnold are used to playing in the slot who’s also used to playing in the in the slot aiek Robertson but they could also all play outside amek can play outside R straw can play outside outside tyon can play outside versatility is what I think that they might be one of the greatest assets they bring they they might do something they might have a dime packages this year where you got all all the guys on the field maybe there’s something new yeah like maybe there’s a new look or maybe there’s something new that you can use but that’s talent that’s the Brilliance of Brad Holmes though one I felt like yes he’s accounting for versatility but he’s also accounting for okay Carlton Davis he has injury issues if he goes down we’re not in the same spot we were last year we don’t have to throw a kindall VOR out there in the playoffs and the helmet bounce off happens like we got better talent in that room now and I into their Stanley Cup Championship pedigree belt and resiliency and and dive in and and not let that game get out of hand and Dallas like I’d said earlier I think it was more of that fatigue and a lot of it like sometimes the fatigue isn’t like physical but it’s like the mental and coming off the seven game War that they went to with with Vegas um it’s just they can’t they got to put it behind failed in the playoffs it was not on him so I like I said after one year of love I just don’t see how you do it uh the real K Colin 77 you cannot say Lamar Jackson is a little worse than gof that’s ridiculous aren’t they basically what this is boiled down to is you win a Super Bowl or you suck right right like let’s cut the [ __ ] Carl cins like that’s that’s that’s where it is like people like easy they they go down their little checklist right they have the well you’re not going to you’re not going to win a playoff game with jarro G and then he goes and wins your two in seven days right and then like you you win your division you wins your two playoff games in seven days like and then then then they just move down to the next talking point on their well you’re not going to win a Super Bowl with jarro gof like you can’t and we yeah yeah who who can you say that about then for real like the quarterback’s in the game today who can you say that about other than Patrick Mahomes so everybody sucks except for Patrick Mahomes pretty much then what are we talking about here you could you could do this all day but yeah it’s just I I don’t get it but like I said people get caught too caught up in the athletic ability yes I said that golf is a little bit better in terms of like success than Lamar Jackson but obviously Lamar Jackson is the better quarterback if we’re talking just the physical standpoint but there’s way more that goes into the quarterback position than that so people we got to we got to stop this man of course has a good team around him if every Super Bowl winner has a good team around their quarterback for the most part like there’s no quarterback that’s done it alone on his own in a vacuum like it just doesn’t happen so of course you want a good team around your quarterback of course you need certain things for your quarterback to succeed like I’m I’m just sick of that narrative oh just just us okay um we cutting the breaks or we got to get get
