are seeing this version of the alternate event on the PGA tour at the dunes course you can check out the newsletter for a preview of that and the Wells Fargo Championship on Monday evening a bit more hit three consecutive times so maybe just yeah Wednesday night into Thursday that’s where you can recoup all your money because I had a very bad week Jeff fineberg in terms of betting DFS was fine it was like a break even week but I got taken on some UFL stuff by the hook three times it sucked I don’t I haven’t even gone swimming in those Waters but yeah shout out to Kenny self-proclaimed Underdog God on a hot streak with winners he hit pendrith no wonder they’re coming for his money shooting holes in his wall they’re coming for him yeah Kenny’s got that bullet swag wakes up bullet holes in his window and he he can’t lose a bet after that so I mean you put yourself in the line of fire you turn out to be okay and then boom just just press at that point yeah we went we went deep or I don’t know we we we did a did a good lap around pendrith last week acknowledge like he’s Boomer bust and he boomed I love the guy sad to have not uh you know been a part of that but gave me a lovely moment last summer let me walk inside the ropes with him during a practice round at my club during the can open so people like why do you bet pendrith I’m like cuz he was nice to me like I don’t really have any data points and it nice to see him win I I’m annoyed uh I missed it and not only that we got with the two tournaments this week P like G to be Overexposed the week before a major like [ __ ] I don’t like this schedule one bit oh one bit see I I I don’t mind it I I like this better than actually I think I kind of do wish that the Wells Fargo was still last week and the Byron Nelson would be this week and then we go into the major but that’s very nitpicky because the next eight weeks are all kind of amazing venue so we’re going to be losing a lot of money or winning a lot of money probably losing because that’s what we generally do on this show despite having a pretty good year going so far but we got into this conversation with cust in our DMS about even and it was Paul weirdly who brought it up that even when you have like a bunch of jabronies at the top of a leaderboard in one of these nothing events provided drama down the stretch like it was a fun watch the the final two hours or so you don’t want it every single week you need to split it up with your really great players your Superstars being Superstars but there’s a great charm on the PGA tour where lives can change you know they have these big moments and we watch people either [ __ ] their pants or rise to the moment uh anyone that golfs can sort of appreciate what is happening you know and even it’s fun when a superstar is playing a Jabron and it can that David beat a Goliath but you’re right guys just you know there’s a lot on the line I think it makes for drama aside from the bets granted you know there’s a lot of people who don’t care if they don’t see names at the top of their leaderboard but I think people who truly love the sport or enjoy the sport like don’t need to like they’re fully aware of of the stakes and how different it is that then when say it’s you know Scotty battling kentley or something you know it it’s just entertaining in a different way and exciting and Charming in a different way and obviously if you got a big bet that’s a whole other element but I’m sort of speaking as the golf fan no I I completely agree and this is the we saw this at Zurich when who was it Lawrence Fishburn was in the group with whoever the hell he was playing with and the moment that took the lead he ends up flubbing the chip and then missing the easy putt then we get to the playoff and you see trainer just not able to do anything once he’s tied for the lead going up against Rory and Lowry and we saw that with Ben Kohl’s here and listen it was a very difficult chip but you just don’t see Pros shank a shot and chunk it like that like that’s what I do on the course and just the pressure got to him because even if he just gets it up and down for par he’s fine and it goes to a playoff with pendrith but no he just he put it five feet in front of him I did that yesterday on the course too yeah listen pend chunked one too he managed a whole lot of Bunker shot among among other things but yeah that Cole’s lie like the ball was sitting up we’ve watched way worse lies get onto the green he fully just shot his pants in the Moment Like no doubt about it and then he missed a five freaking footer like a a total [ __ ] pants on display on CBS at dinner time on you know on Sunday is that you know the moment got to him and penrith walked into the door it is you know I know like there’s a a larger debate here is um I do truly feel it’s only like insane people and sometimes I get grouped into that on the internet who care to even like argue anything relive vers PGA and what is more entertaining and you know there must have been like there must have been normals who heard that there’s weirdos on the like that there’s people on the internet debating Tiger Woods getting an exemption to a US Open and they’re probably like those are probably the weirdest people on Earth and equally as weird are probably the We the People arguing with them and then slightly below that would be the group that I fall into in the like always irresistible like always have to respond to something insane Taylor G says uh I truly believe we’re the only you know we’re crazy people all that being said there’s drama on the PGA tour and I don’t care what anyone tells me there is no drama on lip every event is like the FedEx Cup when kentley’s playing Bryson down the stretch like it’s nice for them it’s entertaining as a golf fan to watch really good golfers hit golf shots in big moments but drama get the [ __ ] out of here like that does not exist on live it just doesn’t I don’t it just does not exist on the Liv tour no one is having a lifechanging moment on Liv maybe one guy like like those super young guys but all of them yes their greatest moment the life-changing moment nothing it’s not winning in Maya COA I assure you it’s just not so that all happens still on the PG GA tour it does yeah because it’s a how could I think about it like BR and steel winning last week and this was kind of the point that I made is that cus brought up it’s like oh there was great drama last week and there was good drama last week in Adelaide with Liv because the team went to a playoff for the team tournament which no one really cares about so how much drama could it really have but that was fun nonetheless and it was with the best crowds that they were going to have all year long so that made it feel a little bit more intense and a little bit more special especially when you have Cam Smith and Le been trying to do it in their home country as well like it was a perfect Confluence of everything that’s good about live happening all at once where everyone kind of forgot brenn and steel won and that was the actual drama in there was no drama in the tournament he just won and that was the end of it this week like I watched a ton of live of Adelaide last week I watched zero seconds of Live this week in Singapore I watched the recap which was noticeably better than the pga’s rec okay the PGA recap I just like to go back and watch it again in the morning just refresh my mind and be like hey when you’re watching golf for like 3 hours straight there’s always stuff that you miss you know what they didn’t show on either the Golf Channel or the PGA Tour recap of round four of the Byron Nelson something crazy but I I didn’t see it so the Cole’s chip that you know he’s just randomly putting for power for five feet it’s like okay like what you know that’s like when someone good like when there’s an interview with someone important and the whole thing is just softball in questions and you’re like well that was [ __ ] pointless that was pointless um yeah that’s bad we’ve acknowledged the Liv does some things right the thing they do the best is probably those highlight videos you know like what like it’s a great thing in Pro Sports I’m a loser that likes to watch a lot of of games but the concept of like uh you know like here they do Jay in 30 Leafs in 30 you know Sportsnet you know the whole game in a 30 minute window I assume they’re showing the important stuff um and if the people who love live and are mad at me at this moment I want to say something to them I’m not na I’m not an idiot well a lot of the times I am but I also acknowledge if if wendam Clark is playing hom this week like there’s not that much drama like there’s drama we’re excited to see who can win this tournament and who can come into the major with great form but yeah there’s not like life there’s not like the drama I’m speaking about that happened last week either you know so that’s why sometimes what last week was in its own way is actually really exciting and granted I’m a Canadian I like the guy because he was nice to me I didn’t have a bet on the guy but I did have like a like I didn’t have the beted up the but but you know I had a rooting interest in many ways there um and I feel like some I hope that can come through with the casuals who acknowledge it but I acknowledge like two two high-end players we playing for this one and you know who wins is as as relevant as who wins on a live event like in some respects but Liv never has what we get last week and that’s charming and fun and I would tend to agree how did you think that norin was gonna make a run at any point course because he did make a run but just it was too late always I always think he’s gonna make a run um no no one plays better golf the moment they’re kind of out of it than Alex noren yeah he’s really good at that he did exactly what I think a lot of people thought he would do last week like the majority of us he’s GNA play great he’s probably not going to win and I’m certainly not betting him at you know 25 to one benan I think did also did exactly what many people thought he would do last week so yeah he got he got himself out of it and the moment that the moment he was in it he did nothing then the moment he was out of it he went nuclear again him and norin did exactly the same thing to finish you know third and fourth for the week and just that’s just how it’s going to go I I suppose at some of these tournaments with these guys they ended up playing themselves benan was already in it norn got himself into the field at Wells Fargo this week and he’s pretty high up the board versus some guys who know probably have a bit more win Equity than him are you surprised Jake knap really kind of he didn’t melt down but he did kind of melt down he couldn’t find his swing it was very reminiscent of his final round in Mexico but he was able to get it back together cuz valami didn’t play that great in the final round in Mexico either and that finally did enough to kind of turn the corner coming into the back nine and I thought that he was going to do the same thing again he played the first six or seven holes pretty shitty and then he birdied two in a row but that was it for him he was like trying to fade the ball and it was drawing on him he was double crossing himself he just didn’t have it where he had it all week to that point I I was quite surprised I was very mad at myself that I didn’t have money on him in a way that I wasn’t as mad as it pertained to penduff because I you know did all my content this week being like you just bet guys who are full send full send driver guys like that’s who I want to back and he was you know he was almost like Captain of that near 100 to one so really pissed at myself in some ways that would have W that that would have hurt I felt really Dum for missing that and then he played like [ __ ] he was okay whatever the Byron winning score was lower than I thought it was going to be to be perfectly honest what was it 23 it was 20 cage got to 25 or 26 I think two years ago uh yeah I think pendrith got home at 23 was I feel like it was 28 last year who was that it what last year it was Jason day yeah days and day but no none of the guys I it wasn’t a great week for me with the outrights didn’t really have a swe unless someone know shank yagger none of them really got it there were moments in the tournament like Mitchell but by you know by the time it was important none of them were were around to taste it um I feel like there was something else in golf that really grinded my gears well let’s talk about this tiger exemption so Tiger Woods got an exemption into to the US Open as I mean I think that everyone would want him to have it’s not a I don’t think any of the this is probably the best Us open venue for Tiger weirdly enough because it’s not like there’s going to be seven inch rough where he’s going to tweak his back trying to hit it out of it you either just keep it on the Fairway or you’re hitting at a waste areas at Pinehurst should work for him I don’t know that of all US Open venues um you’re telling me like we shouldn’t just be looking about the uh the true bombers could change something about it but I I I do actually think that I mean we’re not at the US Open yet but in my mind I’m trying to think of like the type of player that can compete at Pinehurst and yeah I think the bombers can be fine as long as they’re somewhat accurate off the tea like it does seem like it would be a very good Brooks venue uh as all these PGA Championship in US Open joints are but even to go back and look at the last US Open that was here the one that kimer ran away with like it was not bomber heavy at the top it was just a bunch of short hitters who were great at scrambling uh I got myself into a bit of a YouTube rabbit hole watching like some old ends of PGA championships and and some old like Valhalla stuff oh so what was your takeaway well I was trying to wa I also like to watch news reports from the renovation okay I know it just seems um I don’t know it’s hard to tell like I haven’t really seen any news reports from post the renovation but like news reports from when like the renovation began and all those plans and the the the PGA championships we gotten here before but I I got a rabbit hole like I was watching the 87 PGA which then led me into watching like the Bob May versus tiger which then got me into re-watching some of like Rory at Valhalla so I just found myself in a hole little in a whole little rabbit hole it’s apparently supposed to be um their plan is for firm and fast clearly and the media I think are there were there I want to say last week and they acknowledged that they’re still putting fertilizer down so this is like the the roughs you know about to real Sprout really Sprout but um Renovations are are aimed for firm and and and fast but I always love that place I I feel Valhalla was my favorite major we’ve ever had since we started doing a podcast together really that was the first year that we did the show too yeah I just that finish the Phil the Rory uh the Ricky finish is my favorite one like the tiger winning the Masters thing aside which is like seems like it should be its own Evergreen category I think that’s as an exciting a major finish as we’ve had since we started making golf content I don’t think something’s topped it I’m trying to think what was the what was the best major that we’ve seen you we didn’t get 18 holes of spe vers DJ on a Monday which like we all lose because of that you know which one was really good the malari went at Carusi he beat Xander the crying baby Xander and the cry there’s the crying baby with Xander I feel spe was in that one k was in that one tiger made a move at that one like that was just a clustered leaderboard that was a fun one and it was just playing so insanely hard and Molinari made every single pet and the one in the midwest I don’t remember if uh where Brooks won but like tiger played great oh it wasn’t Bel ree was it Bel ree balst no I don’t know I feel like it was in St Louis but I could be wrong on that but who else was in that one cuz I just remember like tiger playing and Brooks winning but I bet you there were three or four other if I remember that that was probably a great Sunday Brooks Brooks Tiger Adam Scott Gary Woodland was there those may have been the top four now I have to like effort this to figure out what year what year was that 2018 sounds about about right yeah B reev yeah it was Tiger it was Brooks minus 16 tiger minus 14 Adam Scott minus 13 were the top three then it was sink R Molinari Thomas Woodland Peters inside the top six and now that we’re sort of doing this and I’m going backwards in my head the ROM US Open was great because we turned the back nine with like six superstars in contention yeah and then that’s Lou Louie ended up hooking it into the the hazard on 17 Bryson made an eight or something on number 13 Bryson Rory like a bunch of great guys were in that freaking thing as we went to the back nine Bryson had the lead I had a bet that’s why I remember that I I remember betting Bryson with you that week morawa I had as well and I think he ended up coming fourth but he was there and then he and Bryson both just made a spectacle of one hole on the back nine it just ended them and raon made those putts yeah so I don’t know that we’re forgetting one those would probably be the contenders if we are maybe leave it in the comments but yeah I don’t know that that with Ricky and Phil and roor like that was such that was that was the best last last year’s US Open wasn’t bad with Clark fer and Rory I guess I don’t know I’m what like maybe yeah sure La Country Club man you didn’t like last year’s US Open yeah it was good it was it was you’re right that’s a fun leaderboard um like yeah Windam Juan Tim called it when I when I like think about last year’s US Open what comes to my mind is Windom like Duck hooking it on the last T and and facing nothing like no penalty for that whatsoever that is my memory of it like him truly shanking a t-shot that probably ends you at 93% of major championship venues on the 18t and La Country Club said nope you’re good and I had no bet I had no bet I who came second was it wasn’t Ricky was it I think it was I think it was Rory or k yeah it was I didn’t bet I didn’t bet Rory I didn’t even have a I probably had Ricky for for Valhalla clearly like going back to those days probably Ricky at 18 to one so so this really is dependent on either tiger being involved or you actively wagering on the winner no no no there’s lots I I said I I I no that I aside that was great drama with Phil bickering that Rory shouldn’t hit up like that was good that was good the script I love that purple I love the ne I love this his scripting that week but no um a lot of the majors that we’ve went through I probably had a loser like near a betting board but I’m just recounting the top ones that one is is my favorite like I don’t have the Masters where Reed won where I had Ricky on there like it’s not just because I had a guy who I like I don’t I feel like we just done a good job of litigating the better ones Maybe we totally forgot one we really we probably cuz the tiger Masters has to be up there because there were a ton of guys in that one I’m just thinking of opens because opens are usually kind of the most fun because there’s such weird stuff that goes into it but I’m just trying to think the ones that stick out in my mind like the Phil versus Stenson one which was incredibly boring because it was just a match play situation Lowry boring low was boring the Molinari one was good probably the cam Smith was probably the most entertaining because it had Rory and you’re chasing it was you know had the you know cam young and cam Smith and Rory and Victor oh there was a good one that was the loser won it I shouldn’t say that was it Zach Johnson he won in the yeah he won in the playoff it was on a Monday but it was like um day and spe and Louie I want to say in that it was leechman and Louie I think in the playoff with Zack Johnson and day and spe missed it by a shot so yeah there have been some yeah the open hasn’t uh and there’s I don’t know if we were recording we weren’t but the Adam Scott collapse we weren’t doing stuff for yet I’m just trying to think the Darren Clark win as well against Phil and DJ would have been up there but that was before we were doing it too I guess we Tom Watson sink right that was ages ago now that was like 2010 I think but yeah no I opens and listen full credit to Tim because when we started doing a show and I’ll let him brag about it next week and I won’t interject when the PGA Championship was at the end it just felt like the stepchild of Majors this new spot and the locations it’s been the best major probably consistently since we started doing the show it tends to be the most competitive ever ever since I’m trying to think I think like Dave versus Walker when Walker beat day I think that was at b reev or balst strol now I can’t remember one of the two one of the B ones of the PG championship and they decided just to make it harder that’s why Walker won Quail Hollow I think no Justin th with the with the Ric Flair intro Justin Thomas won in 2017 okay yeah okay I was on my honeymoon then I watched that was a pretty that was an entertaining one that was Hideki still want a major he cried behind the clubhouse after yep kizner was third as well to Justin Thomas but as soon as they maybe that was sort of the Turning Point like 2015 2016 where the PGA of America really did decide to make it more difficult where we don’t want our winners being at 20 underpar and they kind of made it I mean a few of the past PGA championships have played more like a US Open than some of the US opens have absolutely if anything it’s stillo yeah I would totally agree with that and in some ways it seemed like it tried to it copy it tried to take the USGA sort of course type where like it’s just long and straight and and those sort of players but it allowed it they didn’t try to walk this line of making it impossible either so didn’t have these expectations for scoring that like we blindly have for the US Open and we get really tilted when what happens last year saying the first round happens at any US Open um so the you yeah the PGA maybe just based on expectation and they’ve exceeded it between course selection and the leaderboards they they have hit home run after home run let’s go back to that exemption for a second so what was it that gu was mad that he didn’t get an exemption into the US Open then he decided that he wasn’t going to even try to qualify whereas I mean Neiman got his exemption into the PGA Championship but he still has to go qualify for the US Open Patrick Reed has to go qualify for the US Open why the hell did Taylor gu thinking he was going to get an exemption I really have no idea but what was viral about it pat was it was one of these live pressers which I actually I’ll tell you this I don’t want to go backwards so let’s answer this people got upset because Jason kokra and Martin not Martin kimer GMAC give like a good minute answer on their plan to qualify GMAC goes really in depth about his his goals for qualifying for the US Open and the Open Championship and where and how he’s going to at least try to do that they all give real answers Taylor nope hand the mic over okay like that was it so that was like he gave up like nope I’m not so that’s sort of why um you know me and others decid to be like what a what a what a dud again what a dud he probably doesn’t even know what he signed up for um again though to compliment Liv I think those press conferences are great I really do I I really do uh you can sometimes I find them men are entertaining how they do them and in a weird way the thing I’m going to compliment live about which I know it’s it’s logistically not how the PGA can operate but there’s just like a schedule and the players play you know it’s like totally different like it’s Charming in that way it’s just like any other here’s the schedule you’re playing obviously there’s weird reasons to withdraw so that I think is um as I feel as I’ve ranted many times the fact that the PJ is like a member Association these guys can do whatever they want they unless it’s perfect for these pampered [ __ ] there’s there’s no give or take on much of anything we’re the fans are the last person to be considered and I’m not here to say that Liv is considering fans I just mean like the model in some ways is ideal here’s the schedule you’re playing it’s not like a you know an NBA p going to be like yeah no I’m not I don’t want to play that Thursday off the Sunday I’m not doing it well what I’m not what what was it this week that there’s a transfer window for players on teams and cus was like a it’s just like European soccer but it’s not because the league owns all the teams I think like it’s not like Bryson is you know has a billion of his own dollars into it I’m sure they have equity in a team that’s worth zero dollars but I I don’t understand what any of this is about it just makes like live should stop trying to be needlessly complicated like be be as simple as possible maybe that could work out that I would agree with I heard that clip from the broadcast it was clipped and you know went around it yeah was super confusing okay you can make trades and teams can sign guys to contract extensions but yeah aren’t they like live contracts and then within the live contracts they go to teams um I do believe that they own the teams like I think Liv owns a piece of every team and all the teams I don’t I don’t freaking know that that is the mo you know what if Liv wants to do something really exciting they should have all the Majestics play in a retirement pod like like loser retires I mean this transfer window thing with the league owning all of the contracts is no different than the Raw and SmackDown DFT so I mean I guess I guess that would really kind of work out then retirement GMAC loses you’re done pal can’t play on any tour anywhere ever again winner gets 10 million bucks it’s uh G Max it’s uh Westwood Stenson polter and [ __ ] no morons are CLE they actually have a kid it’s like horsefield oh um but but yeah no but I know polter is like the crazy one that thinks like he’s going to be selling his franchise for something one day I mean if cust had had money he’d buy it because cus is all in on this idea too I’m sure people are like really annoyed at the last 15 minutes but why do you have to say that I have no idea I don’t know maybe they just want milk I mean there’s time codes if people are too stupid to use them then that’s on them right yeah yeah no they’re there yeah you can um choose your Choose Your Own Adventure I still I said it before tampo you know argued with me in my analogy and he likes the pfp money but I I said it before like I’m probably slightly below neutral on Liv uh maybe even lower than that and really it just comes down to the fact that I look at them as like some Floy some some some like 27y old who broke up my parents marriage like that’s all like I don’t but maybe she’s cool maybe she’s nice maybe she’s fun I don’t give a [ __ ] I don’t give a [ __ ] the calling her mom not calling her mom the best comment that I saw for the weekend about Liv was there was one person complaining that what’s it going to be like when these guys don’t have the avenue to qualify for Majors like they don’t right now and a lot of these are coming to an end and a lot of the Liv contracts I think are coming to an end too because they’re either three or fouryear contracts so I’m curious to see what happens at the end of this Liv season if like Brooks and DJ are still on live or could they go back to the PGA Tour after collecting all their money I don’t know if they on three or four year deals at this point anyway but there’s no Avenue to get these guys in to live and someone made it someone made it’s like oh well the majors aren’t going to be popular anymore because all of the new fans that Liv has created they’re not going to see their superstars in the majors thus it will diminish the majors someone reply to be like yeah it’s just like how you know all these people who created all these new stars from the XFL aren’t going to watch the Super Bowl like the [ __ ] are you talking about yeah and I saw that discourse I saw that and that is probably like if you explain to like a normal casual golf fan like what’s out like some of the like they probably probably the most insane people in the world I will just by close by saying you can ver this past week Pat it is so clear you can tell it first win he now has three two Signature Events a major championship and he comes in as one of the favorites in this field we go to the very top of the board Rory who’s won here three times is8 and a half to one Xander is Tanny finished runner up to Windam Clark a year ago ludvig your guy is 12 to1 Wendy C is 18 trying to defend his title no one has ever defended their title at the Wells Fargo Championship hlay 22 morawa H and Fleetwood all 25 then your guy Victor havin 28 to1 I the only one I considered betting of these actually there was two I considered betting Windam Clark and Max Homa Alex noron and Jordan SM I think he’s a much better bet than those two guys and I bet will zot torus at 55 to1 because maybe his back is fine and if his back was fine he didn’t withdraw last week then might actually be the more preferred Stephen jger venue the way he can just bomb it long and straight the way he really has been so quality around the greens I think these tougher venues could be um even a sweet spot for him but it’s I don’t know this would be a big step up because all he’s really shown is playing well and in shitty events and I thought it’d be higher thought it’d be higher but 66 is the biggest yeah I think that I would go to similar skill type players at bigger numbers if that was the route that I was going to go on like baa has my interest he’s local from North Carolina he has that sort of there there’s two different ways that you can attack this course skill-wise you can just absolutely Mash off the tea full send maybe it’s another Jake NAP course when we start to play that out in our mind a little bit because we’ve seen you know atori success Genesis success translate over to here uh and even Mexico for that matter for like the lower tier type players but I was thinking kittama and Taylor Moore would be the two that I would go to just long difficult courses they tend to play them well with kittama you get a really good ball striking effort you know 80% of the time 100% of the time recently and with Taylor Moore you get the full send off the tea you get a ton of distance but you get someone whose irons are somewhat inconsistent but can Spike but is really good around the greens and can Spike on the greens as well and those two are just at way deeper numbers are you surprised to see Nick Taylor’s down to like 200 to one all of a sudden yes and no I mean that that tier is so finicky when you consider that Windam Clark was still 50 to one like this year 80 to yeah I guess he was 80 to1 to win this tournament last year yeah I I just mean like we went into this year and like at Pebble he was still 50 to like so in the context of that I’m not surprised it really it takes so much it actually doesn’t take more than Fanfare like once you have fanfair then your numbers get like just shorted but when you don’t have Fanfare seems like you you could just be a good player who’s number balloons easily yeah I I could see that but I guess my my point to that would be you have someone like Keegan Bradley who hasn’t done anything since the Sony Open and you know he lost in a playoff to Grayson Murray and he continues to be 90 to1 Justin Rose continues to be 100 to1 but then you have like Adam hadwin at this course is 100 to1 but Nick Taylor is 175 to1 make that make sense for me I am not capable of making that make sense um I would I would consider in the group you just mentioned of players it was Kitty AMA and Taylor Moore I would also be looking at ecro in that little pocket as well I could see that um obious he’s great around around the greens off the te or sorry the approach and and off the te and you know obviously to win you’ll need the putter but yeah he can’t a lot of guys like that he can’t chip can’t putt like that’s his entire deal but the ball striking is really good I hate that this like I look at him and Taylor Moore as like very similar I do not whatso ever like they’re they’re nowhere near similar players at all like you might think they’re on the same level you might be right about that but the way that they play is not the same at all well well Taylor Moore is much better around the green but but yeah I guess maybe in terms of like in their chances to win and and and such um obviously e Road is is a much higher level approach player but there’s very few players on that level these days I would tend to agree but we we don’t really get that many like Taylor Moore pretty good putter always excellent around the green e root consistently terrible around the green at least over the past 12 months and he has a couple good putting weeks but even the week that he won it’s not like he was 10 Strokes putting it was like three yeah he probably gained like six and a half Strokes with his approach so he didn’t even have to be around the green 100% And he even joked I feel like there was one day in an interview he joked about it cuz some around the green costum he’s like well I gota just yeah I gota just hit the greens I guess I can’t do that well that was the btia case the the week that he won it’s just like dude can’t chip to save his life but maybe he just hits all the greens and regulation then he leads the week in greens and regulation he wins the event I mean in the context of doing outright betting or making outright bets you really are just betting guys to have a ceiling week I agree yeah like that’s what you’re betting on ceiling weeks um you know if there’s there status quo will have them competing but it’s not going to have them winning but you just got to never had a top 10 here and he’s been playing it for a decade okay thank you for that um thank you for that reminder because you know you open them up you see them 40 above 40 you’re like okay the game’s coming back but you’re right I have probably ignored the course history a lot here been like no Tony feno should work lovely here maybe he should work really well here I I don’t know why his game hasn’t necessarily translated to tournament play here at the courses that we like to look at that we comp to them he has played really well at be at Tory Pines or Riviera but and even the Mexico open he won the Mexico open as well but it’s I don’t know like that doesn’t seem like a generous enough number for me to go in on Tony right now who almost won in Houston sure that’s the only time he’s sniffed a win in the past Jesus since last year’s Mexico open yeah that’s it he has not contended at all he’s been a lot closer to like horrible than contending yeah well no I don’t want to say that because I actually feel like his his floor was a little exaggerated through parts of of this season I don’t think he was as bad as people made it out to be this year but um I don’t think 40 is horrible but when I’m going to invest at the top I don’t know if I’ll room for him okay let’s move on to Myrtle Beach it’s a new tournament again I’ll have the entire write up in the newsletter I actually put a tweet on Sunday breaking down some different elements of this course I have no idea how it’s going to play but we don’t normally see the alternate events be super difficult do you have any initial leans on where you want to go for Myrtle Beach if you want to go there at all because the the favorite in the field is EVR I guess it really depends on where you look at at the moment man Ben Griffin is the favorite in some spots EVR Bo Hustler Davis Thompson they’re all in like the low 20s upper 30s then you got like Burger gim Novak Kevin you I was thinking about Kevin Yu again missed the cut on the number last week and he couldn’t putt so that’s a problem I just don’t know like how I want to attack this course cuz I I looked at the course I did the research for the course but I just I don’t know exactly what skills are going to play so maybe I just ride recent form this feels like a good Matt Wallace course dude loves playing well against really crappy Fields anytime that you get him against anyone good he’s terrible the crappy Fields those are his Jam yeah actually I would argue the 40 to1 on Wallace was higher than I thought I would see this morning I’m just curious what that number was would be last night I’m me anytime there’s an event and the favorite is 30 to1 pretty much that’s like I can deep dive that [ __ ] I don’t know where I’ll come out of that mess but I’ll deep dive it I don’t mind Wallace I don’t mind Burger time um I saw toasty was like 70 80 to one toasty toasty’s 80 that’s not bad Davis Riley has been playing better golf recently too he’s 80 to one yeah so those were two guys that I kind of took a a swim around um you know Alex SMY might probably not going to be able to help myself there 55 60 to one but this is one of those events where you know talk to people smarter than me and they’ll point out these guys in the mid hundreds probably just as good of a chance to win as the guys I just named I I would tend to agree like looking at it right now like lipsky is 150 like I just don’t know which one like you really have to we have our normal wheel of losers this is like the super wheel of losers maybe crazy Carl at 100 to one where’s forchan what’s he up to he’s 45 to one Justin low is 45 like those if they’re going to be 45 Ryan Fox who I bet last week at 80 and sucked is 50 to one in this field he seems like he’s too good for this field like just we think about like overall Talent he’s actually good yeah I don’t know I look at this field and I feel like I might just blindly play that the the the the addc kid at like 120 130 to one go hunt a birdie party I don’t you you said you research the course you don’t know who it’s going to help not really like until you see it like I have no idea how difficult it’s going to play because it does seem like it could be super hard but it’s an alternate event so maybe them winning towards like minus 26 or something I think that would change who you want to bet on I know a couple weeks ago you’re all over uh maybe it wasn’t you Rico oh yeah I was Rico the ball striking has left him like he was an elite ball strike for like four weeks and it just has dissipated and he can’t putt so when you can’t Putt and now you’re no longer an elite ball Striker you got yourself a problem BB go go go go BBB go they played that commercial like 3,000 times on the broadcast I still I don’t even know what it is there’s no way in the history of commercials like was part of them like they bought the full lot they bought it seemed like bought or given you never know because it seems like when they’re sponsors and things that they’re given a vast amount of commercial inventory for being sponsor but they bought extra they bought extra it’s like these guys had Seasons tickets and then they bought like the whole section I’ve never seen one commercial hit that many times in anything and I worked in local radio we play the same like six commercials all day I never I never experienced that before but it never tilted me it always just okay go go go go know it’s it’s um just Korean themed frozen food that’s what it seemed like that’s what I take from it I don’t think it’s available in Canada so we wouldn’t see it in our grer our grossers freezers um like it just name names but like Chandy Phillips 80 to one guys that have like shown up a bit with like decent numbers that’s where my eyes are gravitating to so yeah toasty Riley uh maybe Burger’s too short but seems like you know maybe it is too short 35 maybe he’s not there sh Kim I know 50 to one I don’t have I I was looking at I I keep betting lonto and then I’m like shocked when he doesn’t make any putts ever but he’s 90 to one and the approach just continues to be great for him like now I’m I literally just be reading names but I could make a case for any of these guys low gup um uh L LA low and Wallace I think make the most sense because I mean I like Novak I like you I’ve been betting those guys but at much deeper numbers that maybe I should probably Overlook that for this field if you’re looking at the best players in South Carolina over the past 12 rounds you can use the South Carolina button on feel like I’m going to want to bet I’m going to have way too much action the week before a major is this the one where all the YouTubers are playing in it I think so but didn’t they already do that did was that a qualifier there might have been a YouTuber qualifier I’m not sure I ignored it let’s be perfectly honest I ignored it yeah George Bryan is in this field isn’t he Wesley Bryan’s brother like one of the Brian Bros yeah I didn’t I I maybe I know they were doing something around this event I I’m not like I I watch can watch plenty of um like golf lifestyle internet content but I will completely ignore their efforts to like be a part of PGA events that’s not wesle Wesley briyan I was just won in Puerto Rico by the way yeah he did who did win in Puerto Rico horel yes that’s right good for him hego is 70 to1 he won in South Carolina before at that weird random event the pal meow hego Riley um toasty and then you mentioned a couple guys at like the 40s so yeah I I mean there’s the other path that you can play this week in that tournament where you can bet all those guys that I think are the same guy like gracer and high tower and Morpheus there’s like Kevin DH is one of them just like I I think that the it’s the new the because players are bigger and better now it’s sort of like the Chris stoud Brian Stewart conundrum where you just think that they’re the same guy over and over there’s five of these guys who are all the same guy now kander on the list no I was GNA say Kohl’s is one of them but you he’s in Wells Fargo now in a different world Jake knap is one of these guys but he got a win yes in a different world but Tom Whitney I’ll throw into that mix anyway that’s probably I know this seems such an unnecessary like double golf week but they do it for the Signature Events and they’d gotten rid of one of the Crossovers as well one of the alts forget which one it was it was whatever the alt was the week opposite the match play they got rid of so they moved it to this one and are half these guys in the PJ Championship I don’t know if half them are I would probably say no like 35% of them probably probably yeah why I’m just I’m just curious CU I know there’s not that many elevated event and there’s still another 70 80 golfers they need to fill up the PGA Championship sort of like you have the Liv guys you have the Euro guys you have the guys that qualified like internationally from the Asian tour the sunshine tour and the Japanese tour and then you have the 20 spots allocated to the PGA Tour Pros that qualify so it’s not as many as you think think I totally forgot about um embarrassingly forgot about a couple of those factions you just mentioned as it relates to the PGA Tour uh the PGA Championship field yes you have 70 you have the 70 guys is that are in the field this week at Wells Fargo you’ll have what 15 live guys is yeah maybe if 13 were in the Masters I would oh no I guess they got the past Champion so yeah let’s just say 15 sure might be less than that for all I know but let’s just say it’s 15 let’s say 10 Internationals that sounds about right yeah maybe even more maybe more let’s go well if we’re going to give live 15 we’ll give 10 to DP Asia in sunshine tour so now we’re up to 95 players 20 are the PGA Tour Pros now we’re up to 115 so yeah you probably got like 30 guys in this field that are right around there yeah for 100% I think you just broke that down pretty good okay Quick Picks for the week for Wells Fargo I got nothing in for Myrtle Beach so apologies for that I got to keep thinking about where I want to go Novak you heo maybe might be the way that I’m going but for Wells Fargo the three that I have in decky at 30 cam Smith or C cam Smith cam young at 35 to1 will zorus at 55 to1 are my three only bet I have on the PGA tour is Cameron young but I could swing big at the top ly maybe even maybe even Rory uh I don’t trust any good players right now so it’s a weird feeling as for Myrtle I’ve made one bet as well it is Alex SMY but I don’t think I’m going to be able to resist toasty at uh 70 or 80 and some of these other like 40 to 50 to one schlubs the Matt Wallace’s um Kevin U Justin low like the group we just mentioned shk I’m like I’m just pepper in the middle there pepper in the middle um despite knowing the guys two times the price probably got just as good of a chance one and done selections for the week cust has decided to take his guy Windam Clark as his oneandone pick I will take Cameron young who will you take I have the list in front of me so you can say a name and I 60 but like y Yang is still playing and I don’t know whether it was the US Open or the PGA but I think it’s the PGA they actually shortened their age limit they made it shorter but it was grandfathered in post Phil so Phil will get to maximize the old age limit see I thought that is it the PGA Championship I thought that was the Open Championship that did that maybe well I know Phil I heard Phil braggin that he gets to maximi he’s grandfathered in on one of them so he gets to which I was happy to hear let’s see here oh yeah so other guys that got in uh Nakajima Andy ogl Tre is in the field and Ryan Van ven from South Africa got in from around the world Stricker in because he won the Senior PGA Championship and then oh Michael block block party’s back it was top 15 last year unbelievable I you know know what no no no I won’t even I don’t want to be accused of it I don’t want to be accused good for him good for him he he actually did premium of a group how premium of a group does Michael block get oo that’s interesting I don’t know he is not gulfing with fellow Club professionals I assure you the only one TV time blocky did you know that Andy faota is a PGA professional now remember we used to bet on that guy him and his brother they were the was it him and his brother or was that the Putnams no no there was two Putnams before I remember having a case you’re thinking of NHL player Peter spot no I remember betting on this guy because he he’s got a case of the spos buzz we used to bet on this guy in like 2014 swear to God um are we just assuming that sheffler like the baby’s getting induced next week there’s no way he would miss next week right that would be my assumption but do do we and the burnses had the baby either I I don’t know we didn’t even mention his name and when I went and looked at his numbers they’re terrible so I wasn’t going to bet him anyway but yeah yeah Andy spivot yeah he played like fulltime through 2015 on the PGA tour he came second at the Zurich one year good for him sixth at St Jude look at this guy liting it up he’s like Jason bone remember boner Jams he had that like heart attack on the course I think he’s okay now a lot of players so yeah even from guys last year who would get in like Eric Cole gets himself in Victor Perez finished inside the top 15 last year so he gets invited back so there’s fewer people in that Myrtle Beach tournament than you would think that are actually playing in the PGA Championship next week does the winner get in I assume so they would probably get enough points to get in if they weren’t previously in it otagi got himself in this week with his win in China Soderberg Nakajima otagi get in Neeman was given the exemption so yeah I think we spent enough time talking about The Patrick Reed Master's, not cuz Reed, but Rory in final group blew it, Spieth made a Sunday run, Rickie had a putt on 18 to push a playoff. Bubba was up there. First time Rahm finished top 5. Cam Smith confirmed he has skills to compete at Augusta . I still go back and watch that back 9 sometimes just for the Spieth/Rickie run/putts. I am not a huge Spieth fan, but IMO some of the most entertaining stretches in Majors have been him. That back 9 at Augusta, Sunday at Chambers Bay (I wanna see that course again), and I know a lot of people hate/triggered by 2017 Open Champ, but that's a good one to go back and watch IMO.
